super nice in my Art class (History of Architecture)
she's so nice! passionate about art. cartoon-like voice - i can picture her being a kindergarden storyteller. interesting sense of fashion. overall, great teacher. i loved her.
She has a very interesting way to explain things. Her way of teaching is what makes your college experience seems so much better.
Maybe the easiest class I have taken. She is also nice, helpful, and clear. Gives EX. credit alot. Very enthusiastic, sometimes too enthusiastic about art.
SUPER DUPER TEACHER!!! So passionate about art!! Not only is she so easy, but you LEARN SOMETHING out of the class as well! MAKE SURE you go to class everyday and listen to her lectures or else you will not do good on the tests. EXCELLENT presentations.
i love her! she's so cute and nice! the class is easy b/c she makes sure you know they stuff!
She is so wonderful & my favorite instructor @ DeAnza. Before her, I had no interest in art history. But she is so passionate about what she teaches that it is so interesting. She'd be happy to know that I'm now minoring in Art History at Berkeley!
Very nice teacher and loves teaching art. Easy on tests and just a great teacher to take at De Anza
An excellent teacher! Very good speaker and storyteller, really kept my attention. Provides extra credit and is understanding with grades.
.....
VERY ARTICULATE TEACHER. VERY INFORMATIVE. SHE IS THE EASIEST TEACHER AT DE ANZA. I ONLY WENT TO CLASS ONCE A WEEK AND GOT AN "A" IN HER CLASS
She's perfect. She has the power to inspire you. SHe is lovely and well-knowlege. Take her class and you will know I'm right.
My favorite art history professor. Clear and articulate lectures. Passionate about her work. Very understanding. Methodology works (teaches art history like a story). Lectures are facinating and engaging. Tests are a breeze if you study! Take Her!
she is SO nice i think too nice but its ok. shes so cute in the way she tells her stories about history in art totally interesting. tests r so easy and even if u get sumtin wrong she gives u partial credit so TAKE HER its the easiest teacher ull evr have!
She is so cute! I took this class YEARS ago like in 99 and I STILL remember the facts of the paintings she lectured on- she is great!
aww this teacher was really cute. the way she really loved the subject helped alot. theres only one midterm, a paper, and a final. really chill. the only bad part was sittin in the dark in comfy chairs so id fall asleep..
She is pretty clear cut, kind of absent minded, and very helpful. There is one midterm, one final, and one term paper. She does hand out midterm and final reviews and pretty much whats on the paper is whats on the test. I recommend her!
Really NICE teacher. I haven't been going so I did kinda sucky on the test but she gave me extra credit to boost my grade. She's really passionate about the art. Too bad I sleep in and make it to class so late! Definately recommend her!
Deborah Pasturel is very knowledgeable and very articulate. It’s a fun class despite the fact that it’s a serious and details-loaded class. I had a great experience. The only suggestion I have, I would reduce the time spent on Greek mythology as being n
She's definitely a great teacher!! I was so passionate about architecture after taking her class. She's great because she's knowledgable on the subject and loves what she's teaching! A great story teller and lecturer. Definitely take her!
THE easiest class at De Anza and she's so nice and helpful, she wants you to pass. you'd be dumb not to take this class with her. as long as you try on the tests, you'll pass EASY.
The easiest class I've taken at Deanza. Go for it if you need an A.
Good teacher, loves her subject & knows it well, enjoyable lectures. She is so disorganized though. She started class almost 10 minutes late every single day. So at the end of the term we needed another week to cover all the material (do the math).
Wanna listen to interesting art stories? Take her class.
Yeah , I like the way she expresses herself , and it is really cute. But then.........................................................I still like my GF the best~ -.- _|_
She is seriously thee best art history teacher on campus! Her style of lecture is fun and outgoing, she is nice and helpful. She is a fabulous storyteller! and her tests and assignments are very reasonable.
It's not as easy as I thought, ...hard actually, you have to read a lot, I won't take it again
She is a very enthusiastic teacher!!! She knows her materials very well, and will be extremely helpful if u r in need! She gives extra credit points, and if someone like me who did not do well on the midterm will be given the permission to do more extra credit projects! Highly recommended!!!
She is such a sweetheart. She is extremely helpful and is willing to help you out when you are in need. And get this its a take home final!!!! yeah she's great but i still love my boyfriend.
I first took her ancient art class and she made the subject so intruiging I HAD to take her class again!! She is very refreshing as a teacher.Very upbeat.Extremely intelligent.I admire her very much.
GREAT TEACHER! She gives 1 mid term, 1 research paper, and 1 Final. Very easy class. Shes so animated, she makes the topic very interesting. Shes also so nice too! I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HER TO EVEN THE STUPIDEST PEOPLE!!!
Interesting class...she is very enthusiastic during her lectures, and her assignments are very clear. Take her if you have the chance.
she is horrible, lot of informations, a class to test your memory, don't take her
She is so great. I loved this class. She explains everything really clearly and in an interesting way. You don't really need to read, just take really good notes. Write down everything she says. She grades easily, and is incredibly understanding.
She is sooo nice and the class is really interesting and easy.
too many material...she finished lectures just before the final day, not enough time to study... not as easy as people said
She's nice and helpful. I think her class is easy for the students who really want to learn, but not for people just want a A. I am planning to take her class again for 2B,2C and 2D.
Great teacher, very into what she is teaching which makes all the difference. 1 midterm, 1 paper (you go to a museum) and the final. The tests are not that hard, you barely have to study b/c she talks more about the stuff that will end up on the test, so it's a little clue.
the greatest teacher ever.
She is a wonderful storyteller who is obviously passionate about her field of work. Clear, enthusiastic, organized with good communication skills. I would recommend her to all of my friends.
hecka nice teacher! one of the best professors at da. ONE midterm! i only studied that night n got an A! but attend class for lecture. 1 paper assign. go to museum n write bout painting. 5 pgs. but overall she is a great teacher who loves her work n cares about students.
The best teacher! Her passion for art colors me. To sit in her class is to be in a poem. She beautiful language, her tone, and her gesture make it a wonderful experience for me to have real education. As a teacher, she shows me beauty of this world and unfolds mysterious languages of art for me. Dear teacher, take care of your health and thank you!
Oh! She is an angel. She goes out of her way to help students. I have taken other instructors in arts but she is most clear n knowledgable. She do get sick a lot ...she is fragile. She rush through the course in the end. She gets into too much details and later realizes that she is behind. But i loved her. Highly recommended. If u wanna take arts t
EXTREMELY EASY CLASS.. YOU GOTTA PAY EFFORT TO NOT GETTING AN A
awsome teacher! very excited to teach and loves talking about all of her topics. she is a good teacher. take this class if you want to learn some pretty cool stuff about the past styles of architecture.
Ms. Pasturel is one of the best teachers at de anza college, i've taken every art history teacher there, and she's the best. her class is super easy and it's great listening to her lectures, i wish i could take her class over and over again....
I must admit her class was extremely fun and easy. I enjoyed her colorful and inspiring lectures, and wished she could continue more. She is a sweet, incredibly reasonable lady whom I wish to take again in the future. Her approach of teaching, encourages students to want to learn more about the arts or history in general, and I love that.
really good teacher. very clear and specific. nice and understanding, sympathetic of students needs. also makes boring stuff interesting. peeace
this class is fairly easy, you dont need to buy the book (its 200 lbs by the way!) her tests are based on slides that she shows everyday. for an easy A on all her tests, just make flashcards and memorize the slides.she also teaches elementary school kids, you can tell from the way she lectures...and pronunces her words. which is SOO helpful!
GREAT TEACHER. EASY CLASS, just memorize your flash cards, her stories stick in your head. I took her for 2d and now i'm going to take her again for 2c
one project + 2 exams + attendence = all no matter how your project poor is, at least get a B exams' short answers are pretty easy, just write sth then you will get points
She is by far the best of the art history teachers. I took this class after Mjelde's and Pasturel is 100% better. She's really helpful if you were absent and goes through the material with you to make sure you understand. Lowest midterm grade is dropped. Not only is her class easy to get an A in, she makes the subject really interesting.
She is a must for GE filler-uppers. Even for Art Historian majors, she gives in depth analysis of art pieces and almost completely reenacts a historical scene to the class (that is how detailed and animated she is). It was fun from start to finish. I wish she taught every subject so I can take her.
By far one of my most favorite teachers here at De Anza!! She gives a lot of background information to explain the topics that are being covered. Much memorization is involved in succeeding in her class but there's no addt'l homework to worry about. Highly recommended.
she is an angel, very helpful when you have question. You need to memorize but almost no homework to do. Pay attention in class and memorize the slide. you will definitely get A.
she is very passionate towards her teaching. she makes me love art history! only one assignment and two exams and i love the way she teach!!! but there's one problem; she always show up late for class
Great teacher. Interesting lessons. very helpful. fun assignments. fun class
Great teacher. Interesting, vivid lectures. Very kind and helpful. Loves her subject, loves her students - the best class ever.
Easy class, one paper, two tests, that's it. Just take good notes about slides and make flashcards. Only thing that bugged me was she showed up 10-15 minutes late every class.
I love her!~The way she teaches can make the materials sticks to your brain.Def.EASY A.Just study for exams.I like her smile!`Take her, recommended`!
this class was EASY!! THANK YOU MS.PASTUREL for giving this *cigarette smoker* his only A. Everyone out there just take notes study the names of 10 dudes and their paintings an hr before the test and fullfill the page req on the essay. You can even get some stuff wrong on the essay (i said the artist died alone but he had a wife) and still get a A-
Take a class with Ms. Pasturel at least once. They will forever change your opinion on the world of art and, like myself, your major. Her lectures are vivid and creative. For lazy and overstressed folks, this class is very relaxed. Two exams, one 1 pg. paper, and amazing lectures. This class inspired me to be an art history major!!
I agree with other's opinions. She is really Angel! Test is very easy and she is very helpful. Take her class! Get an A and you will feel fun in art!
She was a great teacher. she really loves what she teaches and you can tell when she lectures. I'll never forget her class. best ever taken
Knows and enjoys what she is lecturing about, easy class if you attend and pay half attention... grade is midterm, final, and one paper that was only 3 pages long... and i learned a lot for having no prior interst in this topic
Deborah's class was soo easy and laid back =] she lectures her slides in the dark, so it gives the students a relaxed vibe. All we have is a midterm, a small paper (about pages) that u have to visit a museum for, and a final. All three are easy assignments. Overall, easy class, sweet professor =]
She is so great. She tells funny story about art. You don't need to buy the textbook. What you need to do is attending every class, listening to her and taking good notes because what she tests is what she says in the class.
Take her, no need for second thought! If there is a ranking for must take class in De Anza! Her class is definitely No1. One paper, two midterm. Her grading for paper is as long as you do it you earn at least B, in my 1B everyone got A. So don't say you study De Anza unless you take her class
she is super sweet and nice!! it's a very easy class, most of the people in class get an A
really interesting teacher, virtually no homework except one paper assignment. if you go to class everyday you will ace the class. she's willing to throw out an entire test grade (out of two) if you show improvement!
probably the easiest teacher you will ever have in college. Her midterms are EXTREMELY easy, what makes them easy is the fact that all you have to do is identify a picture of a building with its name (ex. if she shows a picture of the parthenon, you must label it parthenon) and answer a few short answers. very loud and engaging speaker, not boring
She is by far the best art teacher I've taken. Not only is she clear on the topics she teaches, but she'll give you a study guide for what will be on the midterms. There are 2 midterms and 1 paper. She grades the paper pretty easy; as long as you do everything required you'll get an A; I did mines the night before and managed to get an A. Take her!
She's super sweet and enthusiastic! Her lectures are very straightforward, if you go to class you are practically guaranteed an A. One only writing assignment and two tests (both of which are easy, just attend class and it'll be a breeze).
Takes everyone on the waitlist, A+, helps you on midterm by giving multiple choice that is related to short answer
She is so nice and her class is very easy. I never opened the text. If you go to class and take notes you'll do fine on the midterm and final. 1 paper on a building you've visited and no other assignments. Attendance required-- sign in sheet. She'll excuse you if you call and leave a message though. Take all of her classes! :]
i think mrs. pasturel is a really great teacher. she's really funny and nice and smart. it's really fun listening to her lectures and i enjoy being in her class everyday. PS. she's really good at story telling.
omg i love her. she is my favorite teacher ever hands down. she is so sweet and she loves to help you. why wouldn't you take her class! she should teach more classes!!!
I took her for ARTS 2D, 2A, and 1B. All of the courses were structured the same. She would give a lecture about slides we would view for the day. There are two exams and one paper. Her classes aren't at all stressful and everyone can do well. She does her best to get you interested in the art
Absolutely amazing professor! Her lectures are very interesting ,even for someone who had no prior interest in art! I'm very interested in taking another course with her again! Just a note: dont buy the textbook
She is such an engaging lecturer. Her passion for the subject is infectious. I looked forward to her class everyday because she honestly makes art history so interesting. I would get annoyed at people who talked during her lectures. Furthermore, she is a really sweet person who genuinely wants to help you.
She is SUPER nice and energetic when she teaches. She is pretty easy. 2 tests (midterm and final) and a paper assignment of a trip to a museum. She offers a nice amount of extra credit too. If you study ahead before her tests then you'll have no trouble on the test at all. What really annoys me is how people disrespect her when she's lectures.
Deborah is a doll. She is so passionate about art and her lectures are definitely not boring. Tests are super easy as long as you take notes and study. There is a Midterm, Project, and Final. Project is easy. Offers a lot of extra credit. I'm not an art major but I took this class for humanities credit and loved it. Definitely recommended.
She is the number one teacher at De Anza. She is so talented and knows what she is lecturing on. She makes what normaly would be a boring subject come alive with her enthusiasim. Diffenitly a big asset for our school in general.Take all her classes and you will enrich your Art knowledge.
She is the coolest teacher I ever had. The easiest and she will help to get an A+. You don't have to be the smartest person. Just take notes and review when Quiz/Tests come and remember the slides. :)
She is AWESOME. She teaches with passion. She gives interesting and clear lectures. Tests are easily full-markable if you STUDY and make GOOD NOTES during classes. If you don't know how to answer those short answer questions, no worries, JUST TRY, she will give you points for trying! Willing to help anyone to get a better grade. Best teacher! ^___^
she's very passionate about art, you can hear it from the way she lectures. super nice and helpful. highly recommended.
she's a really good teacher. and a super easy grader. but i was super bored 2nd half of the quarter and i just spaced out and didnt come to class. i completely failed the final and still ended up with a B+. she gives so many easy points
Amazing teacher, never thought I would like learning about art history! Super helpful and extremely nice. Highly recommended; she is the kind of teacher that brings teaching a good name :) loved that class
very enthusiastic passionate teacher! loved coming to lectures to listen to what was new, and i found that people who probably thought it was going to be a boring class listening and getting into her class. strongly recommended! plan on taking another class with her in the future!
SUPERB! Deborah is very passionate, and made it easy for me to show up to class everyday. No Joke. 2 Tests and 1 paper; super easy if you try. Definitely taking one of her future classes!
Mrs. Pasturel is such a wonderful teacher! Most people might find Arts History boring but she made it super interesting! You don't even have to buy the book if you're good at taking notes because she is that good at giving lectures! everything is crystal clear! she's so cute when she enunciate some of the keywords to make you remember them easier.
This is my second class with her. She is awesome. Here's some tips to be successful in this class:1)Pick the creative option on the paper.2)She only asks for the exact year that is important and easy to rmb on test, no need to memorize all. 3)No need to buy the book if u come to school everyday.4)Do all work and extra credit, say Hi to your A+ :D
I loved her. Enough said. Brilliant teacher. Lecture can be boring but lights are off so its easy to just fall asleep.
I took this class just for GE requirements, but ended up learning a LOT. Prof has great energy, knows what she is talking about, and is helpful, so lecture material just gets absorbed easily. 2 exams, 1 final. Wish every professor was as good as Pasturel.
She is sooo cute. At least I think so. She's super quirky when explaining things but it helped me remember and she is super clear and to the point about the material. If you take good notes and pay attention in class you don't even need the book.
She changed my perspective about arts. She is very enthusiastic in teaching which is a really good thing as I ended up learning so much about arts. Her lectures are so interactive and engaging. Don't hesitate to take her class. She's a really great professor.
Easy teacher with clear lecture you dont even need to attend class to get an A. HW and tests are simple
I loved Professor Paturel! She's super cute and funny. Class is pretty darn easy. One midterm/ final and a paper due at end of quarter. Plus, extra credit. The book isn't necessary, just take notes in class and listen to her points and you'll get an A. She really peaked my interest in art.
She is probably the nicest teacher I've ever met, and it bugs me that some students take advantage of her kindness. Her lectures are clear and concise, and she emphasizes certain terms that'll be on exams; I think they're quite interesting. Textbook isn't necessary.
Great teacher! lectures were clear. textbook use is optional.
Textbook usage is not mandatory. Go to class everyday and pay attention to key words and points about time period or the artist. Exams were easy: 15-20 slides to remember, 3 summary questions. 15-20 multiple choice. one huge research paper!
You don't need the textbook. Just attend class daily and take notes. She'll let you know if something's gonna be on the quiz. The class is easy. Pasturel was a great teacher! She made me really interested in architecture. I love her class.
I don't think I can say enough good things about this teacher. She makes the class interesting, and gives all the opportunity in the world for students to receive high marks. She is also very helpful and understanding, and just genuinely a nice person. Take her class. You won't regret it.
Best teacher I've had so far at De Anza. The class is all lecture, but all the tests are completely based on the lectures. She's so passionate about whatever she's speaking of, it's easy to pay attention. Highly recommend this class, especially for Architecture or Art History majors. So so so helpful!
Don't get the textbook. Just attend class everyday, take good detailed notes, and pay attention to get an A. She's a sweet lady and is so passionate about the arts. All lecture but she's clear and keeps it fun and interesting. Take her if you can!
Her lectures are like story-telling, it's awesome. She's sooo sweet. NO HOMEWORK. This is one of those classes that you can study a night before the exam and still get an A as long as you take GOOD notes, which exams are predominantly based on. One quiz, one midterm, one final, one paper. Book not necessary. I would recommend her in a heartbeat.
Love her! I'm just taking this class for a GE requirement but she makes it so EASY and CLEAR. Easy on grading, attendance doesn't matter. Important to memorize the paintings and stuff though, but she almost never asks for the date on exams
Deborah is amazing. Kind, helpful, and truly passionate about her career. She is an amazing and inspirational woman. I HIGHLY recommend her. Also, unless you're completely lazy and don't like to put in even the easiest of work, this class is an easy peasy A!
Easy class... She's really passionate about her job and the subject she's teaching. She makes art history an interesting topic too!
absolutely loved this class. she is amazing and has so much passion for the subject.
She is really nice! Quite easy, but she is passionate about art history which made ME really interested in it! I never got the book, but you'd have to take notes if you don't get the book. I honestly thought this class was great. I wish I was taking 2D with her now! Highly recommend.
She's just too cute! very passionate on art and teaching. want every student to learn, and plz dont miss the class, its really fun.
Really nice professor,(easy if put in some effort), very understanding and always willing to answer students' questions. History can be a bit boring, but Pasturel explains it in a way that will keep you interested and easy to understand. 1 big paper, 1 Midterm and Final- both are multiple choice and short essays
LOVED her. Absolutely phenomenal teacher. Incredibly helpful when students come up to her, incredibly understanding and lenient, always replies to emails in timely manner. A little forgetful but honestly, that's the least of my worries. Treat her with kindness and respect, she deserves it.
Her class is very imformative and easy to understand. she covers very interesting eras such as the Baroque. i think that you don't need to buy textbook for her class as long as you show up everyday and actively listen to her lecture. in terms of grading, she is very easy. you'll have 2 exams, 1 paper assignment, 1 quiz, and no HW! LOVE her so much~
I was so charmed by how expressive she is as a lecturer. Class is designed so that people who go do well on tests (A quiz, midterm, essay, and final). Expectations are clear + very understanding grader. She goes fast, but you won't be tested on all the info + important themes are repeated. I learned so much. I love her as a person and as a teacher!
A very nice and sweet lady! She's so passionate about art history. A very good lecturer; never made class seem boring. She gives you everything you need to do well. 1 quiz, 1 midterm, 1 paper assignment, and final. Book is not required if you attend class regularly.
I had her for Art History She's a really nice professor. If you take her though, make sure you attend class religiously and PAY ATTENTION. I recorded the lectures so I could listen to them later and I got an A. Others got As just listening in class.
Pasturel is one of the most caring and passionate teachers there are. attendance is key!!! the answers to all the work (1 quiz, 1 midterm, 1 paper, and final) are discussed in class. Honestly i HATED ALL ART before i took her class and now realize its significance and how really interesting it is. she is so helpful and passionate its infectious!
AWESOME
She is awesome !!!
Sweet, enthusiastic, understanding, knowledgeable teacher. Explained well, made me love art history. Didn't really need textbook tho it was similar to lectures, which are essential and fast-paced. Overall not hard or easy, but straightforward expectations. 2 midterms: 2 short essay, some identification, some multiple choice. 1 out-of-class essay.
She is really nice! Quite easy, but she is passionate about art history which made ME really interested in it! I did buy book, $10 only but I didn't open that book not even once. YOU have to take notes because Midterm and Final is based on her teaching. I honestly thought this class was great. Highly recommend.
Actually she will let you impress with the stuff use the way of telling stories. She's the most passionate professor i've ever made and in the class everyone can't go away cause no one want to miss what she said. Interesting, knowledgeable and comprehensive. You cannot miss it.
You don't need to buy textbook. All the materials will come in your mind like stories. That's the reason she doesn't focus a lot on participation. Cause if you miss the class, you will know what you lose.
she is amazing
She is an awesome professor! She makes learning about architecture fun and exciting! I've learned so much from this class! Not too much work, just go to class and take good notes. There's only 3 easy midterms, one paper assignment, extra credit options, and the final. Easy A!
Awesome, awesome teacher. Class felt so short as her lectures were like story-telling. I wasn't even really interested in art history but the way she talked about it made me have so much interest in it. Quizzes and exams were easy as long as you pay attention in class, take notes and study the material. Then it'll be an easy A.
Prof. Pasturel is one of the best teachers I've ever had at De Anza. Super enthusiastic, sweet, and her lectures were always interesting. Tests are super straightforward (3 MT's, 1 final), 1 paper assignment, and extra credit opportunity. I was gone for a week and she was ridiculously understanding and helpful. Loves to hear what you have to say.
She is such an awesome teacher. Super sweet, and has reviews for the tests! One of my favorite professors at De Anza. I will definitely take her again when I get the chance!
Take this teacher if you can. She is really enthusiastic and if you pay attention you should have no problem acing her class. I cannot recommend her enough.
Best class ever really easy just show up and pay attetion. 1 quiz, midterm, and final and 1easy 3page paper. have to memorize picture slides test are super easy must take this class she is realy kind dont be shy to ask questions if you dont understand hella chill class Take it easy A and Is GE and no book required optinal i passed with out book
Great professor. Lectures are listening to her speak about art history and a picture of the art you need to know. Great enthusiasm and really nice personality! Class is really easy as long as you show up and pay attention to lecture. 1 midterm, 1 essay, 1 EC, and 1 quiz.
Great Art Professor! A+ I Love her class!
Before coming into this class, i thought it would be boring since it is a course on art history. I was very wrong. The way she teaches the lectures make it very interesting and she gives has so much enthusiasm when teaching, which brightens up the atmosphere. Going to lecture is very important since her grading is base on midterm and final.
This class was seriously so easy. She tells you the short answer questions before every test and gives out no homework apart from one paper assignment. Her lectures are so interesting and easy to follow, which makes retaining information for her tests even easier. I barely studied at all for the class. Notes are essential though.
Amazing professor. Crystal clear lectures, very enthusiastic. Textbook is not needed. Class is based entirely on lectures. Highly recommend
The most amazing class I have ever take! I'm a international student, so in the beginning, it's very hard for me to understand those "architecture words", but she was super nice and helps me a lot! lectures are great, and very inspiring. Would definitely take again!
TAKE HER CLASS!!
I didn't care much for Art until I took this class. She's an awesome lecturer, she cares deeply for her students and she connects the paintings to history and culture in a way that makes it stick. Show up for her lectures, take notes and you're almost guaranteed an A. If at some point you struggle, she will bend over backwards to help you.
LOVED HER!! Such a sweet woman. I don't mind art but she really put a lot of passion and emotion into her lectures and made them interesting, you could tell she really has a passion for art. I actually learned a lot in this class. Two quizzes, 1 essay assignment from a visit to a museum, and a final. She offers 1 extra credit assignment also
Professor Pasturel is very dedicated to her class and Art. She is passionate about the subject matter and teaches with such enthusiasm that it makes the lectures really vibrant and interesting. I came into this class with little appreciation or care for art and I'm leaving quite interested in it. Would gladly take this class again!
She knows what she talking about and does a great job relaying it to her students.
Such a pleasure to take her class. I took her for ARTS 1B (architecture) and absolutely loved it. It's so clear how much she loves art history and it makes it so easy to learn. Show up, put forth some effort and you'll get an A and take her for honors! The extra long paper was really rewarding and interesting!
i really enjoyed learning about ancient civilizations in her class. she was so accommodating and understanding as well when i was busy for a full month! i am extremely grateful to this professor.
Professor Pasturel is awesome. She is one of the best instructors that I have taken at De Anza. She comes to every lecture with loads of energy and makes things interesting. She was born to teach art history. I absolutely love her way of teaching. Super cool.
Very easy A, but boring. She'll basically show pictures, explain the history of it, and that's it. One field trip requirement to a museum of your choice, and a research paper based off one work of art (your choice) in the museum. Gotta show up to take notes. Lectures reflect test. Just show up and listen, if you can stay awake.
Deborah was a sweet lady. She's so passionate about Art History and it made the class interested into it.
SWEETEST LADY EVER. She's so passionate about what she teaches. Although her lectures can get a bit boring sometimes, they're really more like "story time" and that really helps you remember (so attend lectures!) You have 1 quiz, 1 paper, and 1 final. Very easy and straightforward. 10/10! She's ALWAYS there for the students and want to help you!!
she is one of the nicest teachers i've met so far at de anza. she actually cares so much about her students and subject. her lectures are really interesting and she has first hand experience with a lot of the buildings and places we learned about. there is a quiz, midterm, paper, final and extra credit. the textbook really isn't that important.
The most caring teacher at De Anza, genuinely wants you to do well. Really cares about the subject and it's obvious in her lectures. One quiz, midterm, essay, and final with clear expectations. Her "strong hints" about the essay questions before tests are the actual essay questions so it's easy to prepare for tests. Made me appreciate architecture
Deborah is one of the best professors I've ever had. She's so caring and does everything in her power to make you succeed. I thought art history would be boring, but her class changed my perspective on art. She talks about the history with so much excitement and gives us great details about the life of the artists. easy class, just show up& listen
OUTSTANDING LECTURES! She is sweet and is genuinely nice, helpful and accessible for whenever you need help. She's a gem when it comes to the way she teaches; because her course has A LOT OF MATERIAL but she teaches so efficient, and organized, that it doesn't feel as much. It's the way she tells the stories. She's def one of my fave teachers ever.
She is very understanding and caring teacher. She really try to help her students to pass the class and understand the materials. I took her for Fall 2017 and it was the best decision I made. There is four things you need to do in order to pass the class: one Quiz, Midterm, Paper assignment, and Final. Her lectures are entertaining.
Professor Pasturel has to be 1 of the best at De Anza, I took her back to back Quarters for Art History and got 110% both quarters. She lectures great and tells you what you need to know, always gives strong hints at essay question. She has 1 quiz, 1 midterm and the Final plus a paper. That's all, easy A and taught be a great lady!
I loved this class. Professor Pasturel is a phenomenal teacher. Being a lecture heavy class she keeps it interesting with amazing pictures of architecture fun info. The info we need to learn is clearly laid out. Her website has amazing tools for tests and the paper. If you show up, you WILL pass this class. This is the best GE class I have taken.
She is an effervescent and amazing instructor. She is very passionate about art history. Her class is entirely based on lectures/slide show. Your grade in based on 1 essay, 2 tests, and 1 quiz. She gives xtra credit on her tests and 1 xtra credit assignment. The hardest part is that for each test you have to memeorize 25 paintings and the artist.
She is a super nice teacher who gives very interesting lectures. She's very patient and understanding. Definitely recommend taking one of her classes
great professor, nice and easy grader. only 4 assignments whole quarter-quiz, midterm, paper, and final. show up, pay attention most of the time, take notes, and you'll do well. requires a trip to a local museum, but not anything crazy.
Im a Ukrainian educator with three BAs, whos seen lots of instructors of all kind. Deborah Pasturel is one of the best because of her deep love for the arts and the students. While most of her students (and she usually has 100+ occupied seats) have been into different than the arts areas, they, if they enroll in one of instructor Pasturels class
Trust me you dont want to miss her class! I was not very interested in arts at first but the way she teaches makes you feel the subject is very interesting and wants to have a more in depth discussions about it.
Deborah Pasturel is an excellent teacher, she loves art and her lectures are very interesting. I always took a lot of notes. Very clear grading guidelines. The class is not hard if you pay attention in class, provides clear study guides as well. I learned a lot about art. She is understanding and kind, wants everyone to do well.
Professor Pasturel is a literal angel. I've taken both her Arts 2C/Arts 2D courses and I highly recommend her to anyone who's looking to take an arts class. Her lectures are super interesting and you can really tell she has a passion for art. She's also super understanding with everything so, let her know and she'll do her best to help you! 10/10
She is very chill and understanding. Exams are based on her lecture and the essay is based on the questions that she emailed. Her lectur is really interesting because it is more like a story telling. Very lenient and she graded the paper so fairly. Never give homework. 1 quiz, 1 test, 1 finals. Show up, take notes, and youll get an A
Love her. Definitely would take again. She makes boring topics interesting and she is a very lively person. 1 quiz, 1 paper, 1 exam. The easiest paper I ever did and she gives us the short answer question to her exam a week before. I definitely overstudied for this class cuz the exams were really easy if you listen in class. TAKE HER CLASS.
Best Art History teacher in existence. I would take a double major in it just to listen to her lectures. Shes adorable and has so much passion and love for the subject thats just infectious. There was only 1 homework assisgnment which was a paper on a museum visit and 3 assessments or so. The tests were straightforward. You need to take her!!
I have been through art 1a, 1b and her architectural class back in 1997. She inspired me to travel the world and to appreciate and love art and architecture. 22 years later I still think about her. Love her!
Great professor. Not tough when it comes to grading. There will only be 1 quiz, 1 paper, 1 midterm and 1 final. no homework. Gives you a list on what to review for the quizzes, midterm, and final. Super nice and gives good feedback on the paper.
She is an amazing professor! Provides very clear and fun lectures! All you have to do to pass the tests with an A+ is listen to her lectures! There is no homework at all. Overall it is a great learning expirience too, great class to take you wont regret it.
Shes a literal Angel. She was the most passionate caring and loving teacher I ever took in De Anza. I came into art thinking it would be boring and miserable and Im not an art major Im a cs major. She made me love art so that should say enough of her character. If you take her class enjoy every second of it and yes its an easy A.
She is the kindest professor I have ever met. I have wanted to take an architecture class for a while, and she was amazing. She loves teaching, and she's also very supportive if you need help with anything. For the paper she gave the option of writing a children's story instead of writing the usual paper.
Deborah was very helpful throughout the quarter. She truly cares about all her students and is very easy to talk to. The class is interesting and She makes you actually want to go to class! Attendance isnt mandatory but each day she goes through a lot of important info so dont skip one quiz, test, then final, and a paper, which are all easy.
I took her classes to clear up my GE. It was online because of Covid-19. She is the sweetest professor. There were weekly quizzes as attendance, which are easy if you listen to the lectures. One research paper, 1 midterm & final. The lectures are packed though, so take notes! She was very accommodating to me when I asked for an extension. Take her!
I only finished the first week of the quarter, but I know now why this class is so hard to get into. She is an amazing lecturer, test are super easy - all based on lectures. Don't try to google the answers, listen to the lectures and you will be fine. They are really interesting!
Professor Pasturel is a delight. I found myself deeply immersed in her online lecture videos and she is extremely understanding of individual student concerns. What was supposed to be taken as an easy GE requirement class, has inspired a newfound interest in ancient history in me. Take her, you won't be disappointed.
I wish all professors who are doing distanced learning were like Professor Pasturel! Her prerecorded lectures are a fun listen and very easy to follow along with. The workload isn't too much either. Highly recommend and wish that she was teaching ART 2B as well.
took this class as a breather between 20 other credits for the quarter, prof was super accommodating. def would take another class just for the easy only one 3 question quiz per week. 2 Ex cred quizzes, each qz 3 pts, most of the grade is based on an essay + midterm + final paper
Great professor, but she has 4 lectures that at least 1hr long, but you end in a quiz that's only 3 questions. Grades are highly based on the essay, midterm, and final. If you don't watch the lectures then you'll definitely struggle in the midterm and final exams. I wouldn't take her because I don't like watching lectures. That's a personal choice
Easy A, but lots of busy work. 11 Quizzes, 2 exam papers, and 1 midterm paper. Get ready to watch a ton of lectures and take notes. Papers are about information from lectures, and so are quizzes. Exam papers contain extra questions for extra credit. Finished the class with 100%+, very straightforward, however lots of busy work. Would recommend.
It was an overall easy class with her. I watched only about a 1/5 of the lectures and got a 99% in the class. Just prepare ahead for the papers and do not procrastinate. Did final in one sitting. All quizzes can be googled + finished in 1 minute. Easy class overall. Only criticism would be that there is absolutely no feedback. Very caring teacher.
I absolutely love professor Pasturel! She is lecture-heavy, but that's what I prefer. The weekly quizzes are easy (only 3 questions per 3 lectures). There were a few major assignments like a midterm, paper assignment, and the final, but they were fun to do. I truly feel that I learned a lot and would definitely take her again if I could.
Super easy weekly quizzes, midterm and final are both a few questions that you can easily find the answers to in lecture. One paper assignment that is kind of annoying but graded easy. Learned some interesting things Greek and Mesopotamian art history by doing the midterm and final. Take for easy ARTS credits
If the flawless 170+ perfect ratings don't convince you, I'll confirm: yes, she is still awesome and sincerely one of the most caring professors I have ever had.
She's very kind and welcoming! I also really liked her lectures, they are genuinely really interesting to listen to. Take her class, you really won't regret it!
Her lectures were always so interesting to listen to and she is very enthusiastic about arts and art history! Her assignments are all online but aren't too hard to complete. The only "hard" assignments to look out for would be any essays she may assign and the final. Other than that, amazing professor and great lectures!!!
I learned a lot in this class and the professor is very sweet. The assignments are straightforward and manageable. I have nothing but good things to say about her class and all the positive reviews are true!! every week there's a lecture and a quiz ++ written-responses for midterm/final, an essay assignment, and a creative project
Really nice prof would recommend easy class
Deborah Pasturel is amazing and very passionate! You can tell she really loves art and analyzing its history, and she's changed the way I view ancient art and architecture. The weekly quizzes are quick and easy; the projects are flexible and fun (you'll likely get an A). I recommend taking notes of interesting symbols in the art pieces you like :)
Her energy is really great and it help pace the pretty long lectures. It did somewhat feel like I was being talked to as if I was in elementary school with her demeanor but that's not a huge issue. Knowledgeable, encouraging, and funny. She also FREQUENTLY messages students with updates and reminders so it's very easy to stay on track. A+ PROFESSOR
