Professor Ragin is an extremely helpful teacher. She is good at what she does and is well educated in her field. It is hard, but if you are serious about psych, you will be willing to work and get your money's worth. I am definitely taking her again.

Yeah she gives you a lot of work...but she is also giving you an opportunity to get as many points as possible unlike other professors. If you need any help at all she is willing to help you..This is college you are suppose to get work.

Prof. Ragin is perfect. I love how she teaches - asking questions before she gives the information. It's very stimulating. Her volunteer work requirement is not that bad especially if you get interesting experiments. She's very friendly and approachable.

She is a very nice teacher and know her stuff. WHen i first came to her class she layed out her rules and policies. SHe kind of scares you at first. But she is very helpful you can always talk to her after class or visit her at her office and she will be more than glad to help.

SHE IS A VERY NICE PERSON, BUT HER WORK IS EXTREMELY DEMANDING. THERE IS A 10-12 PAGE RESEARCH PAPER THAT IS A LARGE PERCENTAGE OF THE GRADE. THERE ARE A LOT OF CHAPTER READINGS. SOME LECTURES WERE A WASTE OF TIME, BUT ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. THE TESTS ARE ABSOLUTELY CRAZY. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY LIKE MAD INSANITY AND HOPE FOR THE BEST.

i was stressed out beyond belief, missed an exam, failed quizes, thought for sure i had failed... left with a B. she is very intimidating and sometimes very strict/hard, but that's just to push you. get to know her personally in the begining of the semester and show an effort. you'll do fine. she's a VERY intelligent lady. you'll learn a lot. :)

She is crazy. Make the class as boring as possible. At the beginning of the semester there was 100 student and in the middle of the semester there were half that drop the class. she give 3 test and a 10-12 pages paper . she is very very very hard and boring

Professor Ragin was such a helpful person both in as well as out of class...she actually tkes the time to remeber names of a class full of 50+ students...The tests are pretty hard studying is required...alot of notetaking required...yet Prof Regin helps with everything and is extremely fair

Unlike what other people might think, I think she is a very good professor and an even better lecturer. Sure, she requires readings for every class, & her tests are a bit difficult, but it's manageable. I had her last semester; I ended up with A-, despite the fact that I did terrible on my paper. Recommended for Psych majors.

Ragin is hard but she ended up curving the grades at the end. I was failing in the middle of the semester and I got a B in the class. Make an effort to go see her because she seems to love people that go in and ask for help (even though everytime I made an appointment she was about 45 minutes late) but still try! All about QUALITY not QUANTITY!!!!

Very nice, but...daily logs, weekly e-mails, REQUIRED community service (2-hours every week), group paper, group presentation, individual 7-10 pg. paper, midterm, final...if you have the time, you will learn a lot...but if you have a life, maybe go for someone else

I love this woman. I wasn't too crazy about the content of the course at first, but she made it really interesting. Ragin is very intelligent and an absolute sweetheart. Take her if you can, you won't regret it.

omg.. dont take her. required two hours of community service everyweek.. tests are super hard..yes she is nice, but does not make up for all the work, not that A's should just be given out.. but she really makes you work and then does not grade fairly.. so basically lots of work for a grade you do not deserve.

okay so she's hard, but if you go to class, read book, and study. yes, her exams are hard, but she curves too. you have to write a 10 pg. paper and it's like 40% of the final grade. but if you keep up with the paper guidlines she gives, you shold be fine. her TA does review session before the exam so attend those. she's very tough yet intresting.

Prof. Ragin was one of my favorite professors. I would recommend to take her. Prior to entering this class I hated Psych. but after attending this I actually understand it. The class is not easy you have to work for your grade. She is a very fair professor if you do the work well, and study you will get an A.

Class was great: really interesting. It is true that you need to work for your grade though. I simply completed assignments on time (some were time consuming) and STUDIED for the test. Overall, it was an enjoyable class. Do not be intimidated if you're a hard working student. No problem receiving an A in this class.

if psy is your major, Dr. Ragin is the prof to take for 301. she is strict on what she wants but with reason, you leave her class knowing so much and understanding thing better.she is very helpful and does all she can to make sure you're on track. i recommend her! 3-4 tests, a paper and a take home final. interesting class

good amount of work basically just because there is a 10 to 14 page paper. you wont be bored in class tho. i never read a page in the book and did fairly well on exams. shes a nice lady and PARTICIPATE because shell love you.

Read chapters, take notes, make the 6 pg. study guides for every exam and you'll do good. 3 Exams total multiple choice & 2 essays which aren't as bad as they sound & 1 paper. Dr. Ragin is not a psychopath. She is a very intelligent professor who expects from her students what every other professor expects- do the work, study hard, and come to class. Psyc 101 is demanding, yes, but the work is not impossible. As long as you prepare yourself for each class, you should be fine.

Sit in the front of the class, she will not call on you as much. Participate and ask questions. Read the slides she gives. Very helpful not as bad as everyone makes her seem. I think she's great and well informed of the subject. Got an A in her class.

The fact that people are saying shes teaching a 500 level course at Yale is ridiculous. If your a good and serious student you'll do great. She does make it interesting, she is clear and very intelligent. Shes giving you your moneys worth and frankly if you think shes hard your in for a rude awakening. This is college not high school.

It was a lot of work but it was definitely worth it , I would recommend her to anyone!! She knows her stuff!! She is a wise woman! Love her!!

She is a great professor who really tries to get her students interested. Although her exams are extremely difficult you can opt to write a 10 page paper to make them count for less percentage of your grade. I would suggest taking her if you actually want to learn and get something out of your education.

Dr. Ragin made learning about psychological research more interesting. The material is tough to learn but she provides study guides so you know which topics will be covered on the exam. If you commit the information on the study guide to memory, you will do just fine! She also assigns mini papers regarding your research question.

Honestly I really like this professor. I've taked her twice already and would totally take her a third. Got an A- in both her classes. She really makes you interested in the subject. She gives you two options for your final grade; write a 10 page paper and your tests are worth less, or no paper and tests are more. WRITE THE PAPER. I would definitely take her again!

I absolutely loved her class!! I actually learned so much and found it all so interesting and I'm not even a psych major. She also really makes an an effort to make sure you understand the material. It's tough work but as long as you study, do the assignments, and put in the effort, you're definitely going to pass.

Love her! This class is not hard at all. The powerpoints are online and I highly recommend you print them out before class & bring them with you. She curves your great a whole lot. The tests are not at all challenging, and she makes herself available. As long as you study, pay attention, and ask questions in class you should not have a hard time.

She is a very smart professor and she knows what she is talking about, but her teaching style is hard to understand, at least in my opinion. Overall, if you use her study guides for the exams and study for at least 3 hours or more you'll pass. Her exams are all in a blue book so you have to write out EVERYTHING.

If you are looking for an easy pass; don't take this class. If you're look for an education, Professor Ragin is someone you will want to take. Professor Ragin is a very good teacher. She is also very nice, if you are on her good side. As long as you take good notes for her lectures and put an effort into the class, you will be fine. Dr. Ragin is a very inspirational and dedicated Psych teacher. That is, she knows what she's talking about so you learn alot out of her class. If a Psych major, take her. Overall, you would have 3 exams & one 8-10 pg paper. She is a really funny person too & is sweet once you get to know her. Take the course if you want to learn, not sleep.

Ragin is a great professor, I took her for psych 101 as well as 203 and she is great for both. She is a tough grader but is willing to work with you and anything you need. She explains everything in great detail and is more than willing to answer any questions you could have, during and after class. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY.

Amazing professor,she makes you work hard in her class. She gives you about 3 Exams and Mini papers. The final exam is optional. DO NOT USE YOUR PHONE IN CLASS! You will get thrown out even if it rings in your book bag. Other than that she is great If you need help she is always their for you to help you with your papers. I highly recommend her.

Professor Ragin tells you since the first class that it won't be an easy A and that her course is very demanding. There are four exams but the final is optional, there are a lot of extra credit options all through out the course, and 3 papers. Her exams are really hard because they are all short answers or essay questions. A lot of people dropped.

PROF Ragin was an amazing professor, she was extremely knowledgeable and actually wanted to teach her students. People say on here that she reads to fast (which is true) but she makes it a point to let her students know to just tell her to slow down. Also the Exams and tests are challenging but she grades off the class avg. so a 55 might be a B

DON'T choose Option 2. It's research heavy and more stressful than anticipated. Do Option 1 or take the class with another instructor! If you can follow along with lectures and fill in the gaps with the textbook, you'll do well. She makes lectures engaging; easy to interact w/in class and during office hours, answers questions in depth.
