Great class- lots of fun in class activities that help you learn and you really get to know your classmates well. You don't have to buy a textbook there are readings that are posted to canvas that you are quizzed on every now and then.
Probably the best professor I've ever taken. Dr. Searcy has a great sense of humor and finds a way to involve the whole class to make a great learning atmosphere, it doesn't feel like school. Makes you think and really connects with the whole class. No textbook but lengthy weekly readings that you will probably get quizzed on.
Professor Searcy is a great prof. Although there is a lot of articles to read, she made the class fun and very interactive. I would take her again if i wasn't graduating. :)
Professor Searcy can be a big unorganized at times, but other than that is a solid professor.
Dr. Searcy is a solid professor. She doesn't waste time and likes to get straight to the point. She also has a funny sense of humor about some things. I took her for Global Strategies last semester and was so pleased that I decided to take her for this course too. If you can, I highly recommend taking her for Global Strategies as well.
Great professor, would take again
One of my favorite professors I've had at FAU. I would definitely recommend anyone to take her. There is a lot of articles to read but she a great job of explaining them. Overall I would definitely take her again!!
Great instructor. Always there to assist students even after class. Made herself more than available to her students. Engaging class, never felt like I was just sitting through lectures every class. Definitely recommend and would take again.
Awesome class. Solid teacher. No complaints. Just make sure you go to class or else you'll miss all the negotiations. Also, read the articles. But don't stress the pop quizzes are easy.
I loved this class. You will be negotiating with your peers in class which can be uncomfortable but as you start to learn the material you get more confident and have fun with it. Three papers throughout the semester and a final paper at the end. It's a fun class, just do the assignments and you will get a good grade
Great teacher! Very fun and inviting class setting. A lot of good, hands on class negotiations that truly help you develop as a negotiator.
Searcy was a great professor! Confusing at first because you won't understand the simulation but she does explain everything and truly cares
Great teacher, I actually liked coming to this class.
Great easy going teacher! Quizs, 1 paper and 1 group project. CAKE!
Prof. Searcy was great! This class is very different from other FAU classes. No tests. A few pop quizzes. Fun activities that help you gain the skills you'll need after graduation. Group project.
Professor Searcy provides an active learning environment that really helps you develope as a negotiator. There is no text book or exams, only pop quizzes but if you read the assigned articles the quizzes will be easy and they will also help with the negotiation activities.
I truly loved Mrs. Searcey class. She is very well spoken, energetic, quirky, and a very warm person in general. One of my favorite professors at FAU. If you attend class, pay attention to slides and discussion, participate, and turn everything in, you're sure to get a good grade. She also gives extra credit options which is nice. Take her!
Great Teacher, one of the best I never had! Come to class every week there is a reading with a quiz. A lot of class discussion. No text book required or exams. Would take her again.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!! Took her for Global Strategy and Cross-Culture and couldn't be any happier! She is amazing and makes class super FUN!! Do your readings (for pop quizzes) and show up to class for fun times!
If you do not pass Dr. Searcy's class then it's all on you. She gives you every opportunity to succeed in this class. Yes there is a group project and assignments but she makes it easy and explains everything throughout the year. She respects students and gives feedback so you know where you stand all semester.
Professor Searcy was awesome. I really enjoyed having her for a teacher. I learned the most in our group discussions giving everybody feedback and expressing what worked in negotiations. Her grading is lenient if not extremely fair. She does give pop quizzes, its alright if you miss one or two but that could make the difference in the end.
The class was fun. I liked the lectures. I have not had more exciting group project than simulation in Professor Searcy's class. I liked discussions of the news at the beginning of the class. Ms. Searcy goes easy on students, but she wants her students to learn as much as possible. Grades are based on 5 quizzes, 2 papers, 1 business report, game...
Professor Searcy is very nice. She is very knowledgeable professor, she makes the class interesting and easy as possible. She is very funny and helpful. I really recommend prof. Searcy.
One of my favorite professors at FAU. Group project is actually enjoyable rather than a chore. No tests, just a few quizzes. 2 papers that aren't bad at all. Would definitely take her again!
Amazing professor, one of my favorite classes taken, class in straightforward just beware of the quizzes !
Professor Searcy makes coming to class incredibly fun. This class was entirely participation, but I really learned how to formally and informally negotiation in under pressure situations. WHATEVER COURSE YOU HAVE take professor Searcy!
Great teacher and even better person. Makes coming to class worth it and entertaining.
Class is very engaging and interesting. Keeps students involved and clear structure for grading. Would definitely recommend taking her for MAN 4720! One group project throughout the semester with a Business Plan, 2 current events, and 6 quizzes but drops one. Show up to class and do all the assignments and you can easily get an A.
Great teacher. Really cares about the students and is willing to take time out of her day to help us. The class and quizzes are pretty straight forward. The simulation game was kind of hard, but most people in the class have the same problems. So, the grading scale is fair and we learn a lot.
Completely disappointed by her teaching style. CAPSIM (a simulation games performed in class) was probably one of the hardest things I have done in college. It would gone over better if I had a decent explain, lack there of from Deborah who barely touched the surface. There was also hidden surprised in her tests that she never ceased to mention.
Her class is really great! She does not have make you buy a text book and provides all the reading material you will need for free. There are 3 papers and a group project but all really easy to do.
Lots of in class negotiations and group work. Three out of class negotiation write ups. Not a hard class, but some lectures were slightly boring. Overall, the class was okay.
As a graduating senior, this class was a nail biter as 40% of your grade falls into the hands of your peers through a semester long group project and paper on CapSim. After a few delinquencies emerged on my team, I emailed Dr. S at least 5 times to have her address the issues. She never once emailed me back, and kicked me out of her office too.
best professor ever! she makes the class really easy and fun so that you want to go to class. she does in class negotiations, 3 papers on out of class negotiations, and a group project and they are all really easy. the only bad thing is that she does quizzes on articles each week and she doesn't curve the class. still an easy A. TAKE HER!!!
The simulation was difficult but not impossible. As long as you do the work, you pass. She's an absolute pleasure to be taught by and I enjoyed going to class. Take her! TEAM FERRIS ALL DAY
Shes the best. I would definitely take her again
Professor Searcy was by far my favorite professor at FAU. I recommend taking her.
Energetic, easy concepts, pay attention and you'll pass.
Simulation game was definitely tough but Professor Searcy genuinely wants everyone to pass and will do her best to help everyone. Provides all reading material and explains exactly what is expected. She is by far one of my favorite professors at FAU. She is hilarious, intelligent, and extremely caring. Would 100% take again.
Very Knowledgable professor in every aspect of the course. Dr. Searcy gave real life examples which contributed to clearly understand the subject on a global level. She came to class with a contagious energy and encouraged students to participate in class. Great professor!
There was an online simulation group project but after the first 2 week it was really easy to do. She cares a LOT about group evaluations so that helped with people not pulling their weight. Gave 6 quizzes throughout the semester that were easy if you actually paid attention during lectures. She was super helpful & made us cookies the last class!
She's one of the best professors I have had in my four years at FAU, took her twice and am not disappointed, definitely take her if you have a chance. No exams, only easy "pop" quizzes that you'll do good in as long as you listen in class. The online simulation was kinda fun too. Quick and easy class!
She has great energy and gives opportunity for extra credit.
Professor Searcy is super bubbly, always prepared to teach and just an overall fun little lady. I took this course for the summer, so though it was 6 weeks just show up to class pay attention to her powerpoints and her examples such as her youtube videos, or class discussions and you will pass. So happy I chose her for this course!
Dr. Searcy, engages and respect other students. I do recommend taking her in class rather than online, I think you will get more out of the class and understand the material better.
Great Professor, she made going to her class enjoyable and created an atmosphere where students wanted to actually participate in class. Awesome professor.
Amazing lectures Very friendly, engaged, upbeat personality Beware of pop quizzes every class Somewhat inspirational and encouraging Caring Participation matters There's nothing about this class that could be improved. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Great Prof. truly cares about her students. Show up to class, very interactive lectures. Pay attention to the game, be wise with your group.
I took Professor Searcy over the Summer, She was AMAZING! She brings a lot of energy to the class which makes it easy to stay interested in what she is saying. Before class she discusses topics that are going on in the world. If you take notes and pay attention in class this you'll definitely pass!
Really good instructor. She cares for the student beyond her teacher scope. Gives you a few tips on being successful after you graduate. Class was just a simulation game with pop quizzes. if you study for quizzes you will be good. not hard at all.
Dr. Searcy was amazing, constantly had us interacting with each-other and her enthusiasm and passion makes the lectures much more enjoyable.
Best professor at FAU! She is very energetic and has a passion for teaching. Her slides are exactly like the quizzes and if you ever need help she is always available.
She makes you do these 4 question discussion posts with at least 3-4 parts per question with 2 or 3 of these due every week. You only have to do them if you don't attend lectures and it's a lecture capture for people who work and can't attend. Doesn't seem fair to me. You also have a simulation, business plan, 2 current events, quizzes and 2 exams.
Really good professor. Cares about her students and wanting them to succeed in class and has really informative lectures. Took her LCVS class, so didn't have to attend on campus, but watching lectures is important for class contribution grade. CAPSIM is difficult, but you work with a group which makes it less stressful.
Simulation game is fun and exciting and don't worry if you do terrible she curves A LOT on the simulation. Quizzes are a lot harder than need be. Exam was sorta tough but she curves. Talk in class
She is a great professor and lecture usually ends early. The only thing is the semester long group project which also has a business plan due at the end. Other than that the class is not bad at all.
Great person, little out there when she teaches. Mixes up what she teaches between different classes and lectures. Reads off basic PowerPoints and quizzes are obnoxious for no reason. You can pass without a problem in this class as long as you do the work. The only way to fail is if you legit don't do anything. It's a fair class, but very annoying
The simulation she has you do is very interesting, just make sure you get a good group. It doesn't matter if you all have diversified majors because those areas of the simulation are not like the material you learn in your major-specific courses. It is more important that you have a group of people who are willing to meet up and communicate.
Great teacher overall, cares a lot about student success and as long as you show up you will pass the class. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the CapSim because you have to work on a team and some people don't contribute.
good professor, know the subject, lectures are not boring. spread the grade system in a way that is horrible, you basically has to try the best on everything. Require a lot time after class, the group project you basically meet every single week for almost the entire semester, that is really unfair. Because of Capsim you should avoid this class.
Shes a great professor takes the time to make sure you understand the work and wants you to do well.
She is a nice personable professor. It's not a tough class if you do all of the work and the quizzes aren't too hard if you pay attention, if not then you can just study. She does use examples that are on the tests and quizzes though.
Great teacher, but get ready to work for your grade!
She's a good professor, very energetic.
Like most classes, it's not hard as long as you do the work. Professor is very energetic and always willing to help. Two exams, two current events, 4 quizzes and group project. Class participation is also a factor in her grading as well. The group project deals with capsim which can be annoying in the beginning but not overly difficult.
professor Searcy is always in a good mood, i took her for 2 different classes and never once she was rude or sad or in a bad mood. the lectures are super fun and there are plenty of discussions. she gives extra credit, study and you will pass!
Great class with a caring teacher. Highly recommend taking it during your final semester of undergrad.
She is very friendly, her lectures go by quickly. There is a group assignment that lasts the entire class and a 25 page group paper at the end. There are a few quizzes and two exams.
She really cares about the students. Gives extra credit opportunities for participation points. Is very upbeat in all classes, even including her 6:30pm class. The material is hard, but he power-points simplify the concepts. She really helps you understand the material. By far the best professor at FAU.
Professor Searcy is one of a kind. She cares about the students and gives real life examples to make material clear to understand. Also inspires students to thrive in life. This is my second class with her and if i had to opportunity to take her again, i would not hesitate.
Best teacher at FAU! she makes the lectures fun and engaging so that u want to come to class. don't need a text book and there is only 2 tests, a simulation, 2 easy papers. the simulation is a lot of work but she curves a lot! my group did terrible and we still got a B on it. as long as you at least try u will pass. Curves a lot!!!!!
Professor Searcy is one of the best teacher I've had at FAU! She truly wants you to learn. I would highly recommend her to anyone.
Professor Searcy is one of the best I have had as a business professor so far. Some of her work may seem tough, but unlike many other professors she is always there to assist you if there is something you are not understanding. It is important to participate and show that you are trying as that affects your grade most. I would recommend taking!
Prof Searcy is always energetic and actually cares about her students. Her lectures are always engaging, and it makes class worth going to other than simply getting the attendance grade. Participation matters more than anything. The simulation is weighted a little too heavy, but the exam and quizzes are off her power points. Highly recommend!
Professor Searcy is the best! Truly loved this class. Class consists of group simulation and paper. 2 current events and quizzes/tests. Contribution matters in class.
Professor Searcy is one of the best professors at FAU. Be sure to pay attention when she talks about the simulation and ALL of the examples that she uses in her powerpoints. Do the work and you'll pass.
Awesome professor who genuinely cares about her students. Participation and Group projects are key for the classs but overall would definitely take another class of hers again. Highly recommend.
I really love this course because of the professor. The materials may not be that exciting but she makes it really fun because it's such a relaxed and fun environment! She is absolutely adorable and will not fail you regardless of how you've done on the Capsim as long as you put in the effort! Lots of group work in this class!
Brought a lot of energy to every class, kept students engaged. Quizzes, 1 Test, Group Simulation throughout the year and Term Project.
Professor Searcy is very cheerful and made the class enjoyable. She is very knowledgeable on the topics she discusses and always uses current events within the lecture. No textbook is needed! There is a group simulation and Business Plan Report. The simulation was pretty fun for me but i do warn you to have a group that is involved and cares.
She is a great professor, very knowledgeable and energetic (like as if she had 10 cups of coffee before class, lol). There is a simulation game that you do throughout the semester which is the only bad part of the class. The final is a business plan report that you do in groups (same group as the simulation so choose your group wisely).
Professor Searcy deserves the professor of the year, she is very descriptive and comprehensive. I would definitely recommend her to anyone with no hesitation. She uses current events to hear everyone's voice and options and there is no wrong answers for her. Look, stop hesitating and register for her classes, you're wasting time, word of advice. JO
Professor Searcy is one of the most passionate professors I have had. There are a lot of assignments to complete, however, she is not a tough grader and her quizzes and tests are simple. Having a lot of assignments allows you to make up grades you didn't like. Also, she gives numerous extra assignments to make up participation if you missed class.
Professor Searcy is so understanding!! Her class involves a lot of time management and her assignments are tedious, but she listens to what you have to say, she helps you when needed and definitely gives you the knowledge and information you can use for a life time as a hospitality management major. I would totally recommend taking her class!
I really enjoyed Professor Searcy's class despite how difficult this class is known to be. Definitely take it in person, not lecture capture!! Participation and attendance matter but being physically there for the class helps a ton. She is super sweet and makes her lectures interesting and relatable. Make sure to pick a good group- so important!!!
This class was very beneficial to my endeavors after graduating. Professor Searcy really cares about her students and really wants them to all pass considering they are all graduating seniors. This class consists of a few quizzes, an exam, an individual simulation as well as a group simulation. The final exam is also another simulation.
Great teacher, but Capsim really didn't teach us much as students. I feel like class time could've been used towards us having a more hands on experience of a real work environment.
Great professor! There is a group simulation which lasts the entire semester along with a final business plan so make sure to choose your group wisely. Attendance is 10% of your grade but there are extra credit opportunities available to those who do not participate. Discussions and the use of real world examples actually make class enjoyable!
She was a very nice professor and made sure to explain things thoroughly to make sure the students understood what to do.
By far the most time consuming class I've taken in college. This professor makes it seem like this is your only class. So so so much homework, and tedious weekly work. The entire course and your course grade is not based upon knowledge, but your ability to operate this online business simulation that you have to pay for. Awful professor.
The most fun management class I have ever taken. As long as you do your reading, you will pass the quizzes. This class is interactive and fun.
The notorious Global Strategy class. Be sure to wisely pick your team for the simulation project, they will make or break you. Be sure to pay attention to the video examples she gives in class. The class itself isn't hard but has a lot of work involved.
Prof Searcy is awesome! She's a lot of fun. The simulation is definitely challenging because it requires working in a group. She is more than fair on quizzes and the final project at the end is a lot but overall I'm really happy I took this class during the summer in a 6-week session. She's a really fair grader. Show up to class & participate!
Great professor, very energetic and does an excellent job of keeping the class engaged during long lectures. Not a difficult class, but a huge portion of the grade is based on a group project that lasts the duration of the semester so pick your group carefully or you'll end up having to do a lot of unnecessary work.
Dr. Searcy is an interactive professor that uses a variety of teaching methods. She shows great video clips to help break down the concepts, as well will talk about any company to give relatable examples.
Professor Searcy tries her best to make the course as interesting as possible. There is a lot of group work so try to pick a good group in the beginning. Attendance is required but it will help your grade if you attend and her lectures are far from boring.
Group project simulation, group presentation, current event from a newspaper, and quizzes. She makes the lectures very engaging. TAKE HER!
Professor Searcy strives to make every student succeed in her class. There is a simulation (Capsim) where you own a sensor company that you do a team presentation and final report. A lot of work but it makes you a better business person!
Professor Searcy is amazing! I am glad to have taken her for my last course at FAU. I took the summer 6 week long in person term. Work consists of a simulation, in class quizzes, a paper, and a group presentation. Everything is very doable. She cares about her students, and is very upbeat! Don't be afraid to ask her questions! Take her!!!
She is a great professor. If you want to learn how businesses function within an industry and how business executes their strategies, this class will be perfect for you.
There is a lot of group contribution. Make sure to pick your group wisely since this class involves a lot of teamwork and participation. You would have short easy mini quizzes, so make sure study her power point and attend her lectures.
Professor Searcy is straight forward, uses real life examples, very knowledgeable on her material and brilliant. Her class is pretty straight forward, study lecture notes for quizzes, pay attention to her lectures, they are fun and good information anyway! Awesome professor who cares about her students!
Dr Searcy is one of my favorite at FAU so far. She is knowledgeable, and she makes the lectures so interesting. She updates us on current news and what is going on in the world. Her lectures are focused on real life examples. I took this class for 6 week summer term. No textbook was needed. The workload is manageable. Definitely take her again.
Great professor, cares about her students and is very helpful if you are confused.
Excellent Professor one of the best!!! Definitely would take again!
Amazing!!! One of the best Professors at FAU! Definitely take her :-)
Took the class in summer. The class was not hard but group work and participation was a major grade. Extra time was needed outside the class in order to finish the work, time consuming class. It is very important to have good group members. There was a group business plan due at the end of the class,
Professor Searcy is one of the best at FAU! She knows the business industry inside and out and is very knowledgeable on the topics mentioned in class. Besides the frequent quizzes and group work, her enthusiasm and passion for her students makes the class memorable and interesting.
I took it in six weeks. Come to class, its worth it! You'll pass! Lectures are really interesting! Relate it to the stuff that's going around us today! Not a traditional teacher! She wants her students to learn! Only thing I didn't like about the class was the group paper! Also the Caspsim, but you have to have a group that cares. caring kind
Took her over the summer 6 week course. No exams, just a few easy MC & short answer quizzes, she curves them. The group sim project is annoying but way easier than during her non-summer classes. Her lectures always have funny videos. She's funny and truly wants the best for her students. If you wanna pass, just show up. If you wanna A, do the work
Professor Searcy was definitely one of my favorite professors that I have had at FAU. She is very helpful and understanding. If you show up to class and just do the work youll pass.
Professor Searcy is on of the greatest teachers I've had the opportunity to learn from. The "what is going on in the world," discussions are an easy was to transition our focus towards the class. She keeps thins interesting, easy-flowing, understandable, and most important relatable. I would 100% take her again and recommend anyone to do so!
Professor Searcy is one of the best professors on campus. She explains concepts well and encourages students to use their critical thinking skills. There is one group presentation and one paper to be completed in the summer class. The simulation can be difficult at first, but it can be fun after a few weeks.
Professor Searcy was a great professor for the summer course. Lectures are interesting and worth going. Quizes are lecture based although powerpoints help. Group project is strenuous but as long as your group dedicates time into it you will be alright. Would take again.
I took the 6-week summer course. Working in groups is a must to further understand the simulation given. The class consists of a quiz every week, a group project, a current event, and a 30-page research paper that you can work with your group to complete. This class effectively teaches you to think critically and how to achieve your goals.
Great professor. Cares about her students and will help you succeed.
She's cool. Makes class go by super fast. she does assign crazy amounts of hw which makes it easier for people who work. Make sure you ask questions in class and at the end of the class, she never replies emails. Capsim simulation 4 quizzes - drops the lowest one. 30 page report at the end of the semester. Curves.
If you need to take Global Strategy and Policy, there's no other professor to take it with than Dr. Searcy. She has been an absolute pleasure and her classes are really fun. You have to work in teams throughout the entire semester, but its fun and I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. Nicest professor at FAU! SHE IS THE BEST!!! TAKE HER!!!
Professor Searcy is the best! 4 quizzes, lowest one dropped. Group project throughout the semester with a business plan at the end. Go to class, participate and put the work in - and it will be a piece of cake! Pay attention to the simulation and make sure you understand what you're doing - this is what the final exam is on!
Professor Searcy is one the best professors I have taken at Fau. She is simply amazing. She cares for here students, she listens to them and helps them succeed in every way possible. The class is do able as there are 4 quizzes, 2 exams out of which one is a simulation exam and also a group paper at the end of the semester. Alot of extra credit.
The simulation is the majority of the class, but she grades fairly. Her goal is NOT to fail you. Two current event papers, one midterm, final, and one group paper. And some short 10 questions quizzes, that she curves based on the overall class. Make sure you have a good group and show up to her class and be involved, you will be fine. Take her.
Best professor yet. She is smart, funny, and compassionate. She challenges you to think out of the box. Very fun interactive class.
If you have the chance to take this professor take her!!! She is amazing, creative, and makes you want to learn. This professor is one of the best I've experienced at Fau and she made learning fun. Took her during spring and was amazed. Such an awesome professor!
Very confused as to why this professor has such a high rating. This class revolves around a simulation game that teaches you nothing useful for the future. You have to write a 30-page business plan as well as play weekly rounds of the game. The actual business information is an afterthought and I don't recommend any taking her.
the simulation is great. as an accounting graduate, i was able to apply my knowledge in the simulation and did great. for those who complain, they are lossers. do not join the whatsapp group chat, all they do is complain, disrespect and talk bad about the professor and i made her aware of it.
She does assign a larger amount of work. She assigns a simulation where you run a company that is actually fun once you start to understand it. She is fun spirited, and gives lots of example in her lectures. Hint: Must watch lectures. This is her first class online with the corona virus and she did really well reorganizing it. Great professor!
Attendance is mandatory and there are lot of writing assignments, mostly discussions. Group project is simple if your put into a good group. You have to dedicate a lot of time to this class, but you truly learn a lot.
A LOT OF WRITING AND REVIEWING OF ARTICLES AND ONE INDIVIDUAL PROJECT. FAIR PROFESSOR WITH A LITTLE SENSE OF HUMOR.
The professor is a bit all over the place. She grades tough and has a lot of busy work. The class focuses on a simulation thats not to hard. biggest issue is with getting your grades. I had no idea what my grade was until the last month and really the last week of school. She demands we stay on top of our work but she takes forever to grade them.
she's not bad at all. i'd say the only annoying thing is the capsim simulations aka busy work and the group work. other than that shes pretty straight. watch lectures, she throws in a few extra credit points in exams for that.
Obviously a very intelligent individual and she lets you know that frequently. Capsim group work was difficult and trying to collab with 4-5 other people on your own was annoying. Test were pretty simple based off lecture. Discussions and the other multiple assignments never showed due dates so the course is very unorganized.
The class is moderately hard but if you get lazy team members for group projects the class will get a lot harder. overall is a cool professor.
The capsim simulation is difficult so try to get group members who will put in the effort because rounds are due every week and team worksheet. I love going to class because she keeps you interested and her lectures are not boring. Uses in-class examples on the exam so watch the lectures. She is always ready to help if you are lost. Amazing prof!
Her class is tough, but a fun class. The simulation was my favorite part of it
Overall, a very simple class with a few exams and lots of team-based activities. The course uses a simulation that is quite hard to understand, but over time it starts to make sense. You have to work in a team, so make sure you have teammates that are willing to work and participate. The final paper is on your team's performance in the simulation.
This review is for Professor Searcy's MAN 3442 Negotiation Class. A fun, easy, class in which participation is crucial for success. Simple homework assignments dealing with different negotiation exercises, in-class negotiating, out-of-class negotiation, and a team presentation on a country and how negotiation relates to that country.
The professor always had lots of energy while teaching. She is a tough but fair grader. I would recommend her to other students, but advise them they have to stay on top your personal work because you will get overloaded.
Always had great energy for the lectures, make sure to write down what the videos shown in class were about!! Prepare to work in groups. Other than that, have fun, she is a great professor!
Very good professor, definitely take her class. Attendance is mandatory but her lectures are extremely helpful and needed to do well on the exams.
She really cares about her students and helps us interact in real business situations unlike most other classes. Very hands on course, but a great practice for our careers. Great person and professor overall.
Pros: Puts effort into her lectures that are valuable and applicable to our future. Gives lots of examples, encourages students to be aware of current events, gives tips to help be successful in the workforce and negotiate salaries. Accessible outside class (after a few emails). Cons: The group project is time-consuming (an extra 2.5 hrs/week).
It is important to listen to the lectures intensively as the videos presented in the class will be on the exams, I would write down the titles of the videos and rewatch them. For the simulation, I would make sure to find a time that works with the entire group or at the very least a majority of your group. Don't get bogged down in small details.
Professor Searcy is energetic and overall very enthusiastic when teaching and you can tell she enjoys it. Her class helps you stay updated on current events and her lectures/course material is very valuable. This class will prepare you for the real world and is very hands-on. Make sure you do your work and participate and you should do well!
Go to class, study for the quizzes, and write thoroughly in the negotiation analysis. You can get an A if you work hard.
Great professor. Class is heavily based on a business simulation which helps us understand how to run a business.
Great professor willing to work with you, simple logical thinking course, negotiations was one of my favorite classes!
Simulations can be difficult, ask questions, and practice.
Professor Searcy is one of the top professors that I have taken at FAU. She teaches with real life concepts and relates to the average college student. She makes lectures worth attending and is always willing to go out of her way.
Professor Searcy was great to have, I enjoyed her class and would take her again. She is fun but very professional. The class is lots of work, especially with teams. She gives great feedback and is always there to help her students. Definitely recommend.
Dr. Searcy was probably one of my favorite professors here at FAU. Lectures never go the full length and you can watch them on your own time, but each lecture has contribution for your grade. There is a group paper and a group simulation project. It honestly isn't that bad as long as your group knows what they are doing.
Great professor, really cares about her students
Professor Searcy was amazing! This was hands down one of the best classes I have ever taken in my entire college career. Being able to directly apply what we were trying to learn made it a fun experience. The lectures were not long and the articles we were provided to read as part of quizzes were not too bad. 10/10 Awesome Class!
Dr. Searcy taught my all time favorite class at FAU. She was a very inspiring professor who never failed to come up with unique class material which helped me to truly soak in the key points on negotiations. I have been apply to apply everything I have learned in this course into my real life and was very glad to have taken her as a professor.
Show up to class do the work asked of you and you will pass, class is fun and interactive
Really good class, not boring, and the way she teaches actually helps you learn
Take her for International Business Negotiations (MAN3442). The class gives you practice on how to negotiate in real life. Fun class, must participate to have a good grade.
This was the best professor I've had at this school. I would take the course again if I could. I recommend taking International Negotiations with her. All the assignments were fun, creative, and provided unique insights into negotiating. The first lesson you'll learn in this class is that everything in life can be negotiated, except your grade.
Great professor ! this was my favorite class from my for 4 years of being in college. I learned alot and gained confidence when negotiating and advocating for myself. The grading was acceptable for how the class went. If you try and follow the clear syllabus you will succeed.
Hands down the best professor I've ever had. Dr.Searcy is inspiring to say the least. She is kind and really teaches you a lot. If you can take her, don't second guess it!
Professor Searcy is a great teacher, she actually cares about her students and is willing to help if you ask her. The simulation is tedious and it's a lot of work outside of class, but with a good group and some time and effort you actually learn material that's useful in real life. Definitely will be one of my most memorable courses at FAU.
Professor Searcy is a great professor! She cares about her students and teaching, she has very interesting videos durning the lectures to keep you involved. CapSim is hard but helps you understand how to run a business.
Best professor ever
Very nice professor. Class consists of a group "simulation project", pick your team wisely. No exams, you actually WRITE questions for an "exam". Talk about current events at the beginning of each class. Super friendly and caring. Would take again!!!
Professor Searcy did her best to make our condensed six week course bearable. A lot of class time was lectures. We did a simulation throughout the semester with a group and a final 30 page paper. I recommend choosing a good group at the start. She started each class with open discussion on what is happening in the world. Overall, great professor!
Very well organized and understands what is necessary to set you up for success after college.
Dr. Searcy is one of the best professors at FAU. This class has many projects and is a lot of work, but if you stay on top of your work and manage your time, you will succeed. She's a fantastic professor who genuinely wants to see her students succeed. Watch her examples in class, she bases most of her quizzes on that.
So easy and so nice. Her class is very interactive. Class is not mandatory but you do need to show up as almost all the assignments are in class and you aren't able to take before or after the scheduled class. An assignment per class and 1 group project.
Probably one of the best professors at FAU. The simulation is very challenging but she understands that and will curve based on the balanced scorecard. She genuinely wants to see you succeed and will help you with anything. Very organized and caring.
Nice professor, most of the class is a group project simulation.
Wonderful Professor!! Class wasn't difficult at all. Only thing I hated was the simulation lol, but once you get the hang of it, you should be okay. Definitely recommend taking her class.
Great Professor!! Nothing bad to say. Only think I did not like was the simulation lol.
She is very understanding and transparent about the course work. Just do the work and you will be fine. You will learn a lot that will help after graduation.
She is a great teacher that always makes class interesting! Is a fair grader and is always available for questions or suggestions! Would definitely recommend taking this class with her!
Great Professor. Never a boring class. Group negotiations all the time that are fun. Pretty easy if you do the work.
She is amazing and so kind TAKE HER!! My favorite business class I have taken at FAU. The classes were not lecture heavy and were instead based on applying the skills we learned through negotiations. The negotiations were very fun and helped you learn a lot about yourself and get you out of your comfort zone to prepare yourself for the real world.
I enjoyed Dr. Searcy's lectures. I was able to learn a lot about strategy and how they're applied in the business world. You use the simulation, Capsim the majority of the semester. You have one group project involving Capsim and many opportunities for extra credit.
One of the best professors i've had at FAU! Negotiations are so fun and make you look forward to the class. She asks you what's going on in the world at the beginning of each class to get yourself some participation points. Classes are fun and you learn things you will actually use in your life. She is a very wise person which I respect a lot.
I really enjoyed this class. Every lecture is interesting and Dr. Searcy does a great job keeping lectures interesting. The simulations are tricky but go just fine when in a group.
She means well, super nice and is there for any sort of help. But for MAN4720 the simulation part she teaches ( and will not get rid of) is very hard, stressful, tedious, and the final exam is 3-5 hours long. The lectures are good and you learn a lot, but the simulation you just stress about and don't benefit from at all.
Great professor. Only thing I did not like was the simulation.
I had Professor Searcy for international Negotiations and she is a great teacher and keeps you interested. Attendance was mandatory, but I was almost always happy to be attending this class. When grading negotiations, she grades on performance so try your best to do well. Assignments were mainly in-person negotiations and essays, not tests.
Dr. Searcy is one of the few professors at FAU who I would say cares about teaching. She is very interactive and will always be transparent if she doesn't know something and will find out with you. Most grades are reflections on negotiations, but make sure you actually do the readings in the syllabus, she'll give pop quizzes!
Summer class seems to be easier than Fall/Spring class. Lots of hw but they weren't too bad. She does not respond to emails or give feedback on the question writing assignments. Kinda unorganized. The simulation is confusing so make sure you pick a good team.
Make sure to do well on group projects and go to class as the contributions count
Professor Searcy is very enjoyable and knowledgable. Genuinely cares about students and gives a lot of professional advice. Quizzes every couple of weeks on lectures and class contribution assignments. Big assignment is the simulation that lasts pretty much the whole semester. Can be tricky but you get the hang of it after a while.
Dr. Searcy cares a lot about her students and is very passionate about the material which she teaches. I loved her daily "current events" at the start of class because I would learn a lot about the news without having to watch it on TV myself or read anything. The simulation seems a little confusing at first but it gets easier. Would retake.
For those taking MAN4720, I highly recommend taking it with Professor Searcy. On top of guiding students through the simulations and assignments throughout the group project, she goes out of her way to make lessons engaging & relevant to students. Exemplarily, she included a lecture on real-world negotiation and promoted using AI in reports.
She gives no feedback, group project is very time consuming. If you work hard you will get a good grade, however, it is a class that can be overwhelming. Quizzes are on honorlock, no open notes. You have to watch all the lectures and learn every single thing to get an A in the quizzes.
Take MAN4720 with Professor Searcy! She'll guide you through the group project simulations and assignments while making the lessons engaging and relevant to your interests. She definitely is one of the best professors in FAU.
Good but tough Professor. Compared to my three other Accounting classes this semester, this class work is more than all three combined. It is a lot of hours watching lectures, focused on small points that may be on the quizzes! The Capsim simulation was a great part of the class but came along with a 30 page paper, but charts take up most of space.
Dr. Searcy is a great professor. I enjoyed taking this class, especially before graduation. Not a super hard class as long as you show up you'll pass. The simulation took me a couple of rounds to understand as long as you choose a group that shows up, pays attention, and gets work done, the class is a breeze.
Professor Searcy is a super sweet and passionate professor. You can tell she really cares about her students' futures and is looking to help in any way she can. She even gave us bonus lectures on negotiating a higher salary!
I am glad I took this class r
I am glad I took this class in my last semester before graduating. I learned a lot and feel I am more prepared to step into a career. This class is easy if you stay organized and watch every lecture. Group project (30 page report based on simulation) you will be relying on your group for 8 weeks so choose wisely !! Professor offers help via zoom.
Very good
Having taken this professor for a required capstone course she makes it very manageable. 3/5
Watch the lectures and take notes Work with your group members Talk to her as often as possible to better understand coursework Lectures are necessary for quizzes and miscellaneous contribution assignments
Have to pay close attention to detail to get a good grade.
I do love Professor Searcy, she's knowledgable, caring, and her lectures are super interesting. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A GOOD GROUP!!!! A lot of this class is team-based and there's a huge paper at the end of the semester. Get into a rhythm or you'll fall behind. Interesting class though and a very sweet professor.
Whole class was basically group work! pretty easy just be a good team member
Very large tough group simulation, plan ahead!
Super nice professor. Pay attention in lectures, and do your group work and the class is manageable. Lectures are very easy to understand and all assignments are very straightforward. Professor is very responsive and cares a lot about student success.
Really nice professor, most of the course consists of a group simulation and then a final paper on the assignment as well as quizzes based on the lecture material. Easy to reach outside of class and is willing to help you if you have any questions or concerns. Overall the lectures were very engaging and enjoyable.
Dr. Searcy is phenomenal! Even though I took the course online, Dr. Searcy is always available if you need anything and truly cares about her students. She goes above and beyond and even takes the time at the end of the course to help students with future careers.
Professor Searcy is a great professor! You can tell she really cares about her students. Her lectures were fun and very informational for our quizzes and assignments.
She is very nice, while at first I did not like the simulation you get use to it, the misc. contributions are quick and easy, the lectures are not longer than an hour but you NEED to watch them for the tests, and best of all the tests are short, just beware of the business paper at the end of the class, its a big pain in the ass. Over all ez class.
She is a great professor but has a lot of work. The work is useful.
I enjoyed Professor Searcy's class. In my opinion it was not a hard class as long as you put in the work, the only con about having class in person is having to remember the lectures because her examples are key to answering quiz questions. Like other reviews your simulation grade is dependent on your group and can be difficult.
She is an amazing professor and really made my last semester memorable!
Professor is very nice, and cheerful. However, I believe she gives a lot of extra work. Group simulation rounds and other assignments due each week. Attending lectures are mandatory because quizzes are based on lectures and misc contributions are given in the lectures. Simulation final exam and group report due at the end of the semester.
I took her online global strategy class. She is very engaging so lectures are enjoyable to watch, please pay attention to the lectures, her contributions assignments are sprinkled in them. No textbook just simulations and exams. She is always available for help. This class is all team work.
This professor made me write this review for a grade.
Dr. Searcy is an amazing professor. The class itself is not hard, but there is a lot of frequent assignments and one final 40-page report. Bi-weekly quizzes, misc contributions, current events, 12 rounds of weekly team simulation decisions. This is NOT a hard class but it is very time-consuming. I would still highly recommend her as she is great.
Professor Searcy is by far one of the best lecturers at FAU. Her lectures are incredible, and they always seem to end too soon! If you want to actually be taught real business, then Professor Searcy won't disappoint. There is one group project worth most of your grade that includes a 30 page business plan, so get ready to write!
After receiving grade for a few discussion posts, I tried asking several times how I could improve via email. I received no response. I felt that to be unfair because my grade could be higher if I was able to receive feedback from either TA or Professor. Also gives a lot of busy work but other than that, very sweet Professor & good lectures.
Class is not too difficult if you stay on top of your work. Lectures need to be watched before quizzes and the class is structured around a group project.
Professor Searcy provides great in-depth lecture that are not boring and easy to understand. The majority of the class is a group project. Professor provides everything you need to know in the lecture for quizzes and HW. Make sure to go to class and ask questions because she gives great feedback.
Amazing professor, this is supposed to be a more difficult class as this is the last one before graduating, but she makes it really fun! Just stay on top of the lectures and be clear and communicative with your group. There isn't a question she won't answer, she wants you to succeed.
She was an amazing professor. I would take her for another class if I could. The class was pretty difficult, but I loved it.
did not get timely responses.
This class with professor Searcy was very enjoyable for me, the group project lasts the whole semester pretty much so make sure you work well with the group you're assigned.
Dedicated to what she teaches. Content is extensive but she makes lectures entertaining. A lot of work for class done in your group, including sim and related assignments.
Great professor, very passionate about her profession. Class is super challenging not because of content covered but more-so the amount of work it takes to get an A. Enjoyed the lectures more than any other class I have taken because she has a good attitude.\ and makes it engaging.
She is a caring and engaging professor. There is a lot of group work but the work is not difficult if you have a good group. Attendance matters as in the quiz, you will be asked about specific examples from lectures. There are 6 quizzes (the lowest grade is dropped), one simulation, and a final simulation exam.
She enjoys teaching, caring, wise. Lectures are engaging, has a lot of relatable real-world examples. You must watch the lectures to do well on the quizzes because she shows videos that aren't on the PPT's. You will have to simulate making business decisions with a team. Scary at first, but gets easier as time goes! To succeed, don't procrastinate.
What I enjoyed the most about Mrs. Searcy's class was how she used so many real world examples to explain business concepts. I've come to know so much about so many different companies. This course is heavy on group work, as you and your team must complete a simulation that requires you to make weekly business decisions for your own company.
Professor was really nice and you can tell she cares about her students. Pay attention to examples in the lectures. Simulation was fun but tough, try to group up with people who have a similar schedule because you will have to meet outside of class.
Dr. Searcy is a great professor! She really cares about the students grades and puts a lot of effort into her work. She demonstrates a lot of knowledge in many areas!
A lot of group work
Professor Searcy's lectures were easy-to-understand, providing several real-world examples for her students to truly understand the material. Aside from being incredibly informational, Professor Searcy always added a touch a humor and charisma to her lectures- bringing a welcoming energy to the classroom. I always looked forward to her lectures!
Dr. Searcy cares about her students and is enthusiastic about learning. There is group work, but it is easy if you pick a great group. Attendance is essential because there might be information stated in class that will help you answer questions on quizzes. There are 6 quizzes, lowest grade gets dropped, one simulation, and a final simulation exam.
Overall a difficult class. Watch the lectures!!! Quizzes are based on lectures. For the simulation, make sure you meet with your group 1-2 times a week and assign parts as that get's challenging. Start the final paper early.
very helpful and always cared for her students. Very informative lectures
Overall, this professor is great. 100% my favorite professor at FAU. She was super clear and concise with all the lectures and assignments.
Good professor.
If you stay on top of class work you'll be fine. Take good lecture notes because there will be questions on quizzes about the lectures and class discussions. Group work is a big chunk as well!
Class requires participation. Is the only teacher that will bring home cooked cookies to class.
Highly recommended. Her sections fill up very fast, so set a reminder!
attendance is required to get class participation points. No exams or quizes. Def a lot of group work, but overall easy class
Searcy was very nice and kind, but the coursework was immense compared to the other courses. SImulations were difficult and "What is going on in the world" segment was always time consuming
Dr. Deborah Searcy is such a fantastic professor! She ensures that every student has the opportunity to participate in class. The lectures are beneficial when it comes to studying for the quizzes. She implements a "What's going on in the world" segment at the beginning of each class. Definitely would take her class again!
Professor Searcy really cares about her students' success. Although attendance is required, the in-class negotiations were valuable, and helped build real-world skills such as negotiating your first salary. No quizzes or exams. Highly recommend this course and professor
Professor Searcy is honestly amazing. This is the second time I take a class with Professor Searcy, so I already know her teaching style, which is honestly really helpful as long as you go to class. Exams are easy and straight forward AS LONG AS YOU SHOW UP! Participation is also crucial as well.
Professor Searcy does a great job at teaching this course. With her in and out of class negotiations, her syllabus is structured to make you feel more confident. As attendance is crucial in order to complete her negotiation assignments, you wont have to worry about any exams or quizzes. I would say you definitely learn in Professor Searcy's class!
Professor Searcy is a very funny teacher and genuinely enjoys teaching this class. Her classes are mandatory, but very enjoyable. The quizzes are based heavily on lectures, so take notes and pay attention to the things she says! We have a group the whole semester, so choose wisely and get ahead in the group project at the end of the semester.
Professor Searcy is outstanding, in her class we have very fun discussions about the world and the business environment. You can easily get participation points by adding to class discussions. An advice I would offer is to pay attention in these discussions since the quizzes are based on lectures and class convo. She professor is an easy grader.
Challenging class well-taught involves time consuming lengthy simulation that is highly educational. Document your actions with each round with why for the business plan. Quizzes are tough so study hard the first one is trickier than expected and can impact grades despite a steep learning curve she ensures a rewarding experience.
Professor Searcy is one of the best professor ever. she really care, nice, and loving. she's really wants her students to succeed. I would recommend any student to take this professor. Easy class and no exam anybody will pass the class hands down. But get ready to do your homework.
Taking notes on class videos and discussions is crucial for quizzes. While I achieved a good grade in the course, it was challenging. A day dedicating to learning Capsim would've helped a lot. She is passionate but I am not fond of her teaching style. Great person, though.
Searcy was a good professor but the simulations were hard. Her classes are very engaging. There are a couple quizzes, team worksheets. simulations, a final team report, and a final exam. This class was definitely one of the hardest classes I took but go to class and participate and you should pass.
Overall the class was easy. There are 6 exams and a simulation. As long as you participate in class and take notes, the quizzes aren't too bad. The most annoying part was the simulation but you work with a team for most of it. She always answered my questions and got back to me by email within 24 hours.
She is a very sweet professor that cares about what she's teaching an and she's funny. Quizzes can be challenge but WRITE HER LECTURES DOWN, many examples that are on quiz! The group simulation and business plan is time consuming and difficult, CHOOSE GROUP WISELY!! She was always understanding and wanting to help, she has office hours.
Great professor! Attendance and participation required. Take notes on lectures because mostly all quiz answers come from the lectures!!
She is a great professor. This class itself was difficult but she managed to make it a lot easier and definitely made things less stressful. Her lectures are interactive and she always wants feedback from her students.
Overall she is a good professor. Organized and clear. She provides good and helpful feedback during lectures. At the same time, the simulations we have to do as a part of the grade sometimes are tough and long!!
She uses a simulation software that is complex but easy once you understand how it works. A major portion of classwork is group projects.
Dr. Searcy is an amazing professor. Her lectures are very engaging and she cares about her students. Her lectures are relevant to the real world and she gives good advice. The beginning of class was also fun because we went over current events in an open discussion. Make sure to get a good group because it makes the class super easy.
Professor Searcy is really fun and energetic in her lectures. There is a lot of teamwork negotiation but they're fun and very informative about the lesson she is trying to teach. She truly cares about your learning experience and I would definitely take her again.
Professor Debora is very understanding; class is mandatory, but she is willing to work with you if you have a family emergency. The lecture was very fun and interactive. Professor Deborah also gave us extra credit and allowed us to meet in person or via Zoom. I would have taken her sooner if I knew of her. You won't regret it!
Overall very good professor! Highly recommend taking her course, especially if you need an elective!
Professor Searcy was a great professor just be sure to show up to class and participate
Taking Professor Searcy's class was an incredible experience, she is very knowledgeable in her field and genuinely cares about her students. I would gladly take her class again!
Great professor always gave feedback and could reach out whenever needed.
Dr. Deborah Searcy is such a fantastic professor! She ensures that every student has the opportunity to participate in class. If you pay attention to the slides you will do great on the quizzes. She goes over material that will benefit you in your upcoming career. Best dressed professor as well.
Took this class thinking it wouldn't be too hard and time consuming cause of these reviews but I was very wrong. She's a sweet professor but she gives A LOT of work. She tries to test you in different ways to see if you watched the lectures which was annoying. All assignments & the project is based on this website called capsim which was confusing.
This professor is amazing, she genuinely enjoys teaching and greatly cares for her students. I cannot recommend her enough, especially for MAN4720, which is usually an incredibly difficult class.
Professor Searcy is engaging and cares about students. The class can be challenging due to the Capsim simulations, but Unstuckstudy AI is a great study tool alongside lectures and group work. Overall, a worthwhile course.
I really enjoyed the professor's concise and effective lectures. However, the course is heavily based on a team simulation game, which I wish I had known beforehand. Your experience will largely depend on your team. Unfortunately, my group was difficult to work & get along with, which affected my overall view of the class. Choose teammates wisely!
Half of our grade was based on a group project. Luckily, I had a decent group, but others who were not so lucky. I sent multiple emails and have yet to get a response. The course requires a huge time commitment, from working with a group every work to studying for unnecessarily hard quizzes that find obscure ways to test if you watch the lectures.
As long as you do the work and participate, this class is not stressful. Lots of grading on completion and participation with a semester long group simulation. The simulation is a little confusing, but she grades very generously. She cares about her students helps outside of class with anything, even life problems not relating to the class.
Take Prof Searcy if you can, especially in person. Print her note outlines and write down the examples from class and you should have all the info needed for quizzes. The simulation for the group project is confusing but if you ask for her help she will help you. As long as you go to class it should be easy to get an A.
This class is tough, but Dr. Searcy makes it worth it. I feel I am walking away having learned a ton, not just about global strategy, but about life skills like how to handle interviews or the importance of voting. Dr. Searcy is truly an amazing teacher. I highly recommend you take this class with her.
She is very nice and makes her lectures interesting. There are quizzes about every other week and they are open note. The capsim simulation can be challenging, but most of it is done in a group which makes it easier.
Professor is very charismatic and knowledgeable on the topic, and it is really hard not to pay attention when you're in class. She gives you real life experience and uses real life examples. I would highly recommend this professor.
She is a good lecturer but I wouldn't recommend her. Good luck ACTUALLY getting a hold of her if you have a question about grades, as it has been three weeks with no response. Her instructions for the simulation were to "just do it", "figure it out". Loves putting pointless anecdotes in her lectures so that she can test you on them on the quizzes.
The syllabus and she barely responds to emails. She tells you about participation and briefly explains what to do but not how to do it. The project is a simulation that you need to learn quickly because her lectures are vague. It is very time consuming and you will never get work done unless you work in the industry or have an extra 8h per day.
I wouldn't take her if you are just trying to take this class to fufill a requirement (you gotta be ready to put in work). She makes you do this really hard simulation at first on your own then in groups. Then you have the occassional quizzes and its just not worth it unless your intrested in understanding capsim. Only take her if you have to!
She is a good professor but she does not post any powerpoint/content or recorded lectures for the in person class to watch afterwards. Besides this the class get easier as the semester goes.
I liked this professor, she's passionate about what she teaches. She works to relate current events to what we're learning so we truly grasp the concepts. Our grades heavily depended on the simulation, which is pretty complicated at first and definitely takes time understand. Taking time to learn it could make your semester a lot easier.
Overall good instructor. Lots of assignments and teamwork. The simulation is difficult at first but gets better. If you do the work you will be fine.
She genuinely cares about her students, has real life experience that she shares which is really helpful. Not too much work, weekly group assignments and a simulation. Overall not difficult at all if you put in the time.
She is very sweet but this class is very annoying especially with the simulation. If you can find a prof. that doesn't include the simulation I would def recommend taking someone else. In regards to the quizzes I never had enough time to even double check they are open note but you don't even have enough to quickly look through notes for questions
She's very nice and grades generously. The outdated syllabus caused confusion. The simulation is not that bad and is heavily curved. It's relatively easy to get an A if you do all the work and do it right. The paper was a nightmare however, due to my uncommunicative team which waited until the last week to start, despite having a month.
I honestly don't know how she has any bad review's, i could not have asked for a better professor to teach the last in person class i took at FAU. She is so cool, and actually cares about her students. If you take her, make sure to pick a good group for the simulation and participate in class discussions. EASY A IF YOU PUT IN THE EFFORT.
Dr. Searcy was a great professor to have for MAN4720. Two exams, a simulation, and six worksheets about the simulation. If you participate in class and pay attention to the material, you should be fine and get an A. Super laid back for a high-level course. Couldn't recommend anyone better!
This class was tedious but very engaging.
Dr. Searcy was a really good professor. Her quizzes are based off the lectures so they are not difficult. In this class you have to complete a simulation where you are the owner of a company and make all the decisions. This was the hardest part of the class but she is very good at explaining things and will meet with you for extra help.
Dr. Seacy is knowledgeable and caring. She welcomes scheduling Zoom meetings if you need clarity. Her lectures are all over the place at times; she tends to ramble a bit.
Dr. Searcy is a great professor who gives informative lectures relating to course material. There are quizzes based on the lectures so be sure to take notes on them and watch all of them (quizzes are open note). The simulation is a group project that can be quite difficult but is doable. Overall the course was very fair.
Great professor, really want you to learn
Great professor overall, but I disliked not being able to get feedback (unless we reach out). I also felt like the grading on some assignments was unclear. Overall, this class is amazing, and Dr. Searcy truly cares about her students and hopes for their future success.
She drops lowest quiz grade (there are 5 in total). Quizzes are based off of lectures so it is very important you watch them. She gives you notes you can print out and use during your quiz. There is a overall group project based on a simulation of you running a business, it seems intimidating, but it was super fun to complete!
Without a doubt one of the best professors I've had. Genuinely cares for her students and very clearly wants to seem them succeed. Very well spoken in her lectures, clear and concise in her teachings, and engaging with her students.
Professor Searcy is one of the nicest and most positive professors I have had at FAU. The simulation she does is a lot, but it's also kinda fun, especially when working with a good group. You earn participation points for speaking in class, and there is also an opportunity for extra credit.
This professor is a real gem! They're super caring, knowledgable, and make learning so much fun.
This professor was amazing! Highly recommend taking her class, you can tell she really cares about her students and the lectures are never boring. For our last day of classes she even brought us dunkin to celebrate us graduating! She always gave such thoughtful advice and cared for what we learned beyond just global management. 10/10 professor!
Professor Searcy is great, though it is important to note that the class itself is heavily reliant on group work. She is very laid back but quick to respond and easily accessible outside of class. Would take her again for this class.
Provides no feedback on quizzes or simulation grades, which is frustrating after her prior grading error. She didn't respond to my email about grades added at the end. You can score well on your own, but with 40% weighted to group work, personal effort only goes so far. Take this with another professor who doesn't use CapSim or 30 page group paper!
