this professor really enjoys teaching and works very hard to relate the boring stuff to everyday events that we have to deal with now. That made this class worth taking -- I've never really liked history, but Miss Shoop made it seem likeable and now I will probably take more history classes

Professor Shoop tries very hard to relate what we are studying to modern life. It is obvious that she really enjoys most of what she teaches, and I really like that when something is boring, she is usually the first one to admit it is boring. She goes kind of fast, but if you take notes and listen in class, it's easy to pass. Lots of extra credit

lovely lady! yes their is a lot of material but study guide is clear and tells you what you need to know, she is very undertanding also (say you need to take a test early etc) dont know how people could have made an F, I took as an elective and got an A, did study but the fact it is all intersting makes it easier

Nice lady. There's a lot of material, but she tries to cut it down. Flies through everything so you have to read the book or use a tape recorder.

Ms. Shoop is a good person, she is genuinely nice and tries her hardest to be helpful to everyone. She has a hard time keeping on task, but it makes the hour go by a lot faster.

i don't even want to say how much i love ms. shoop because i don't want her 1200 class to fill up without room for me! her class is my absolute favorite of the day and i love the things we talk about. she gives lots of opportunity for help and improvement and it's impossible not to make a really good grade :)

shes just great, gives very clear study guide and letsyou know when she is teaching the material that you will need to know this or that for the test.dont know how you could possibly fail, you have to study but its not hard material just learn the facts

i love ms. shoop so much she is sooo nice and so helpful, the only assignments are usually writing and they are easy, she lets you revise papers up until the exam day so you can get a better grade. she is sooo funny and i would highly reccomend taking her class!! i love her!!

Mrs. Shoop is a real kick! Easy as hell to get along with. She does go fast, so taking notes is kinda hard; see if you can use a tape recorder. She's the easiest engish professor in ECU. I would take her for Eng 1200 but my schedule doesn't fit in her class. Take her if you can. Don't miss out on it. I made a 95 on my first paper, and I made up crap on it, too. We hardly use the text book. Attendence is not required, but she gives you extra credit for coming to class.

Shoop was the coolest english prof. at ECU. I would take her again in a heartbeat. The papers were a bit difficult but she helped you with ideas and she didnt grade too hard. She is a winner!!!

This has definitely been my favorite class so far! Shoop is really nice and extremely funny. This class wasn't very difficult, and the assignments allow you to write about pretty much anything you want. Great class overall, would definitely recommend it!

Ms. Shoop is one of the best teachers I have ever had! She made English 1100 very fun and interesting. She has four major papers that you have to write, and she is very flexible about the topics. Her final is a portfolio that you keep of your papers throughout the semester so there is no final to take. Take this class you will not regret it!!!!!

Ms. Shoop is the best English teacher here! I took her for English 1100 and liked her so much that I took her for 1200. She's serious about what she does but she's so fun at the same time. Papers are easy and she's really helpful. Cancels class a lot, and always lets you out early. TAKE HER.

She was the best teacher I ever had at East Carolina! She is funny and she gets sidetrack fast. Which makes the class go by fast. She is a fair grader and helps you when you need help. I would recommend her to anyone. GOOD LUCK!

EASY class. Just make sure that you do go. She's very lenient with a lot of things as long as you are open with her and explain yourself. There are 3 papers assigned and a portfolio at the end which is pretty simple stuff. She does talk about her life a lot and frequently goes on a tangent.<<<< it IS actually interesting though.

Ms. Shoop is a fun teacher! I was always tired going to her class b/c it was at 8am, but she always woke me up with her glowing personality. We probably only used the textbook once and all the assignments are interesting. I recommend her to anyone! You'll def pass!

Super super super easy class. You write write four papers the whole semester, one was a group project and the other was part of the final. Other than that you don't do much, most of the time is spent listening to her talk about her life and family, but she is funny and nice. Does take attendance, but i think its for extra credit?

She takes attendance but your attendance doesn't go towards your grade. She makes it super easy to get an A in the class. you can redo paper and get points earned back to improve your grade. Do absolutely nothing in class, super easy

Mrs. Shoop was absolutely amazing! I would take her for 2201, but her class wasn't open when I registered. Not many papers, one group assignment, and talks about her family most of class; which made going to class interesting and fun. She gives extra credit if you go to every class and gives you a chance to edit your papers and bring your grade up.

Loved this class!! It was a 9am class but I still looked forward to it. If you want a highly structured clear-cut class I wouldn't take her. She grades very fairly, if your papers are in English and have good grammar, you'll get a good grade. However; she doesn't just hand out A's. Can be very nit-picky. Attendance is, of course, mandatory.

The funniest and chilliest professor you'll have, she does ramble on and gets off topic sometimes, but there's no tests, and there's only a few writing assignments. Overall a super easy A.

i have hated every english teacher i've ever had and i love her to pieces she took over when my teacher went on medical leave and its the best thing to happen to me. She is fair in the papers she makes you do and she grades them easy and lets you revise them for better grades. She is so funny. if you miss less than 3 days you get extra credit

Amazing Prof. She is a sweet funny lady! I enjoy writing for her. She is chill and laid back and worth getting out of bed for her 9 am class for! She is understanding as long as you are a diligent student and turn in your work on time! She talks about her family a lot and that makes her easy to talk to and shows her human side. If you are looking for a professor that likes to go off topic a lot during her lectures and have easy English assignments, then Professor Shoop is the professor to get if you are taking ENGL 2201. She loves to talk about college basketball and she loves sharing her life to all of her students. Definitely, the professor to get if you want an A.

Dr. Shoop is one of the best teachers in the English departments. There are 4 papers and the grading rubric is given clearly and she grades nice. The class can get off topic a lot which makes it a fun class to attend. The only complaint I would have is she does not upload a lot to blackboard so the rubrics and submissions are by paper in class.

MS SHOOP IS BY FAR THE BEST ENGLISH TEACHER IN THE DEPT. Classes tend to get off-topic, she likes sharing about her personal life and she always talks about college sports. 4 papers throughout the semester which are graded fairly. She rarely uses Blackboard so you'd have to turn your assignments in class.

she is the BEST. class is always off topic. you turn your assignments in class 4 papers, but she dropped one so we only had to do three. super hard to get anything less than an 80 in class. always lets us out early and we never have in class assignments.

Her class is very easy to pass. She is super sweet and funny. During her classes she never really talked about anything but her family or funny stories, so class was always interesting. make sure you show up though. she grades the papers super easy- I made an A on every single one. I love her!!! Classes are her telling stories about her life, and she lives an interesting one. From driving her car into a pond to breaking her leg skiing, there is never a dull moment. She is the only class worth taking an 8:00 am. You can revise if you're not happy with your grade, and extra credit is given for attending all classes.

Only gives like four papers for the whole year, which are pretty easy to write. Always in her office for office hours and ready to help. Easy grader if you follow the syllabus and listen to the instructions in class. She's the best would take her for every class if I could.

Dr. Shoop is awesome! She is funny and kind. She does not lecture too much as she usually talks about funny stories from her personal life. Your only assignments are essays which she grades very leniently. If you are not happy with your grade, you can revise your paper and get more points added. It is an easy A. I highly recommend her.

Shoop is my favorite professor. Very laid back and funny. Total of 4 papers normally and a great environment. If you want to do a lot of work, go to a different professor. If you miss class more than 5 times, your grade will start to drop but I go each time we have class unless I'm sick or out of town. Definitely recommend and will miss her.

She is a very funny person, you probably won't get bored in her class. This class was just four papers, but she keeps it interesting for sure. She always has the best stories and kept us all awake in my 9 am class. Attendance definitely matters in this class, but that's no big deal.

Ms. Shoop is an interesting character. We had a required textbook that I think I used it maybe once. Ms. Shoop allows you to revise your paper after she grades it and will give you points back. Sometimes she'll lose your paper but that's okay. It'll show up eventually. Ms. Shoop shares stories of her life growing up, they're worth coming to class.

I loved Shoop as a person! I will say that sometimes her directions for assignments can be a little confusing, but communicate with her and she will always assist you. Be prepared to write papers, this is the main thing she will be grading on and she is a firm believer in not giving out any tests throughout the course!

She is an amazing professor. I don't care what anyone says. If you don't do well on a paper, she can let you revise it two weeks after. I learned a lot from her lectures and I'm always happy to see her first thing in the morning after a long weekend! I'm happy to take her class again before she retires.

Easy class but you don't get much time in class to write the papers, which makes it feel like homework. She loves to talk about her life stories but they're pretty interesting which makes the class go by faster. She also ends class early occasionally. She's kinda forgetful but super nice.

Ms. Shoop gets carried away easily. Textbook is required on the syllabus, but I only ever opened it twice. Ms. Shoop gives students the opportunity to revise their papers for a few extra points.

Ms.Shoop is a great professor and really easy going. She doesn't really use canvas a lot so you'll need to go to class to know what's going on. She's a great professor to have if you want to lighten your course load.

Wow, this professor is something else. However, I am so happy I took Ms. Shoop. She cares so deeply for her students, even though she may not remember your name. Her personal stories, which she loves to share, are so interesting, and it is crazy someone has gone through that much. Anyway, I would highly recommend her, and I will miss her deeply.
