Huge lecture with her... BORING. Her voice literally puts me to sleep.

I guess she's good at testing on what's not on the test. I love how she goes off the topic (almost every class), and say it's our problem know to know the material. She's a little crazy too, but you can pull a B if you ready the text.
must READ all the books, listen to her lecture. she does powerpoint. tests are difficult. the average for the past 2 tests seems to be around the 30s
Wretched teacher. Gives bogus assignments and does not prepare people for tests. By far the worst professor I've had in two years at ASU.
Okay, this lady is CRAZY! Always gets off topic and her tests have no correlation with her lectures. Hardly any of her powerpoints have anything to do with the test.
GROUP PROJECTS SUCk. Tests aren't too bad as long as you pay attention and do some reading. lots of extra credit you NEED. Not as bad as people say but not too good of a teacher either.

Terrible professor. For a 101 class its so rediculously hard that its beyond funny. Lectures put you to sleep. Tests only cover about 75% of the material, as for the other 25% who the hell knows where it comes from. Bottom line you'll sweat for a B in a class that just should not be that hard.
this teacher is horrible and thinks she's teaching a bunch of grad students or something, but the university would never let her do that. she is super annoying and has no idea what she is talking about, doesn't even understand the basics of soc herself so how are you supposed to learn?
This is the worst teacher that I have come across. She just reads off of the slides like we can't read. She only copies and paces things just like some students do. She reads everything with no knowledge of what she is trying to teach.

Horrible! Unclear on whats tested, not clear with questions on actual test, 2 books & class notes to know inside and out...& NO STUDY GUIDE or anything to let us know what to focus on. does not grade on a curve. just not a good experience for me and i actually was very interested in the class @ 1st

Deffinetly do any extra credit that is offered. I agree her tests and lectures do not correspond but I liked her as a person. The class topics were interesting.
She is the worst teacher I ever had....DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS...Id rather take a class at 7:40 in te morning than take a class with this clown...she knows nothing about the topic and grades group projects unfairly...FIRE HER!
When she makes a joke, people laugh at her and not with her. Try sitting in on one of her classes for a good laugh. Oh, and I liked sociology before I took her class; but she just put me to sleep every time. Half of Neeb105 was asleep at every class! A little pathetic...

This class was very easy and very interesting. The project was a little tough, but she was very helpful with any questions we had. I enjoyed it.
Tests are fair but group projects are a killer if you have lazy assclowns for partners. Extra credit helps and some lectures are interesting; others very boring and the clicker participation sucked.
The class is boring and you have to go for "participation points", with each one being equal to the weight of one test question. A lot of people didnt know that and it ended up screwing them over. Sullivan is kind of an airhead, but I like her; laughing at things she says during class makes it OK.
Do the extra credit, read the chapters, pay attention to the bold words and section titles. Clicker participation was a pain in the ass, but many clicker questions were on the test. The group project was a pain in the ass because I had a very lazy group member and had to cover her ass to get an A.
Horrible Teacher
She knows what she's talking about, but she doesn't make the class very exciting. I have fallen asleep in her class before. Do the reading, show up to every class, and pay some attention to what she says. You'll get an 'A' if you put forth some effort. Not a sleeper class. Not recommended.
her class is not easy. she grades the projects unfairly. Her tests do not reflect the class material, i dont know where she gets the questions from. If you want an 'A' in soc 101, take someone else
Okay teacher, expects a lot from her students. I think she may grade a little unfairly, giving higher grades to projects that reflect her own opinions. A lot of students in my class really disliked her. She makes good subject matter a little boring.

Dr. Debbie has no idea what she's talking about and her computer skills are the biggest joke. Her TAs do all the work but I'm afraid she rubbed off on them.

This teacher is the worst prof. at ASU i think! Not only does she treat her students like little kids, she will sit there and yell if just one person is talking... her notes make absolutly no sense and her powerpoints are tricky, boring, and never on the tests. She picks these little tiny details from the books for her TESTS...DONT TAKE HER CLASS!

Everyone hates her, but I don't think she was that bad. She gave 3 tests that I thought were really easy and a project that i did at like midnight the niht before... she had 15 extra credit points available (i've never had a teacher give that much). She wasn't the best, but she REALLY wasn't that bad. at all. shes changed a lot this semester...

I couldnt wait to get out of this womans class. She takes little to no time to help out students. She runs through her powerpoints extremly quickly. Dont even think about emailing her IT DOES U NO GOOD! All she does is yell at you. Whatever you do DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. If you do have to take her be prepared to HATE HER!!!
she was not helpful or nice AT ALL. i had a question on one of her projects and neither she nor her T.A. got back to me until the day it was due, 3 hours after i had turned it in!!! even then, she didn't answer my question. she just said i shouldn't have expected them to answer but gave no reason as to why i shouldn't have.
The class is not that bad. You can at least get a B if you go to class, pay attention, study for tests and do the extra credit assignments. Since the class had 450 people, my class used the clicker, a remote-control type device, to answer quiz questions. She deserves more credit that what people give her. She IS a good professor.

Bad teacher. Period. She knows what she's talking about, but she doesn't make it fun to learn...at all. The project sucks (but as long as you get a good partner, you'll get at least a b on it), the exams suck (but you should at least get a c on it...I did, and i was high when i took them). If you have a question, don't bother asking, she won't answer; project sucks, CPS points suck, tests are even worse... her overall personality is horrendous.
Alot of work for a 100 level class. A quiz every week. A BIG project. Attendance is mandatory because of clickers. Tests are moderately hard and you have to study. Most people really don't like her. She's pretty annoying, but at least she knows what she is talking about. Be prepared for her to yell at you, ALOT.
i worked pretty hard to get an A. Just get use to hearing "GET YOUR CLICKERS OUT" every 10 minutes. Oh and she's always late too. Go to the study sessions, most of thsoe questions are on the exams. Extra credit is easy, commit yourself to the research paper, pick a person who will acutally collaborate with you on it. She's a tough old cookie.
I took this during summer 1 and I found her to be accomidating. but her quizzes were tricky. I liked how she commented on your papers, which was helpful.
I took the class online. The quizzes take a long time and the papers are just a waste of time. Easy to get an A in if you do ALL of the work and do it well.
DO NOT E-V-E-R TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. She is the worst teacher. Probably the worst teacher in the world. You're work will never be good enough for her. The quizes are rediculously hard and pointless. She told me I had no point being in the class and I should just withdrawl and nothing I did could help me. Horrible professor. Thats all there is to it.

TERRIBLE PROFESSOR. Seriously. The only C I've gotten in college thus far and I'm an Accounting major. The quizzes are ridiculously hard and she only opens them up between 9 and 10pm on Thursday nights so your Thursday nights are ruined. Reading the book and reading the powerpoints do not help because she asks concepts not even covered in the text
I was very suprised to read how everyone hates her in SOC 101 because for 427 i really enjoyed her. I got A's on all of her tests and 100% on every paper. Her jokes were lame but at least entertaining, she is very smart and has a lot of experience/general knowledge. I would take another class with her in a heart beat.
Worst Teacher EVER!! Do NOT, at all, for ANY reason take this teacher. I got a C and I had to work to get my GPA back up to a 3.9-I get A's in every class but this one. The final paper is like 20 pages or something ridiculous like that and it doesn' t matter how much you work-its not enough. DONT DO IT! Take another teacher!
If you can avoid taking her class I recommend doing so. She is very rude. Lecture based class is boring, but not a difficult. She's extremely critical if your writing style isn?t exactly like hers she?s likely grade down as well as leaves you rude unnecessary comments on her personal opinion and compares your work to others in the class.
One word-frustrating. So annoying to listen to in class and her quizzes/tests are ridiculous by asking questions that have no connection with the material. She grades her papers like you're supposed to be in an upper division class! Avoid if possible!!!!!

Excellent professor. I took SOC 341 with her as well. She really knows her material.
Her note outlines don't follow her powerpoints. Weekly quizzes only on thursday nights(not cool if you have to work)! Exams don't cover the basic concepts you would expect a normal test to cover. You are forced to remember dates, pie charts, minor details from 2 hour movies you are required to watch! She's nice but I would avoid at all costs!
**AVOID** though she is nice, in class notes have nothing to do with the tests(even though thats what the tests are supposed to based on), you HAVE to do all of the reading in order to do well on the weekly online quizzes... sucks if you work on thursday nights!...and the tests are hard! She is a very nice lady. Her quizes are extremely hard you have to make sure you read everyone week for a guaranteed quiz. The quiz are thursday nights at 6-10 pm. Must take them during that time she does not allow any other time. (This time is not during class time)
Terrible teacher. Online Quizzes every thursday night. NEED the book to pass the quizzes. Her notes and lectures are just about useless. Her tests are extremely difficult as none of her notes help and you cannot in any way study for them (Again, you will need the book). I really enjoyed Dr. Sullivan's class, I'm not a sociology major but she got me genuinely interested in the topic (Sociology of Health and Illness). She was really helpful outside of class, and her lectures were cohesive and engaging. A great prof!
Attending class is seriously pointless. Notes taken in class were never helpful on test. Just by the book, use the book, don't miss any assignments, and get a B or C. You'd seriously have to bust your @55 to get an A.
Took this class online and was pretty pysched by the subject matter. Book was interesting and she used interesting videos with every chapter but she was unavailable for questions. She would not even allow students to email her directly they had to post a thread. Very unhelpful and not very understanding either but class itself was AMAZING.
This class was too hard for a basic 101 class ... I am an average B student and this class was too much of a challenge for me. Many points were not clear and I had to work really hard just to get a C.
She made an interesting class into one of the worst... There are much better options for a Sociology teacher than her.

Very cocky and condesending. She pushes back questions at you and would never provide a clear answer. Would give defensive excuses why she wouldn't post lecture powerpoints on black board. Unstructured lectures. This professor needs to retire to prevent further harms to students.
I had Professor Sullivan for Sociology of Health and Illness and really had little interest before I took the class. It ended up being a real eye opener. I loved the class and learned a lot of practical and useful information. As long as you follow her study guides, read, and watch the movies, you can get an A plus
She is enthusiastic and does a pretty good job of keeping it casual while still getting the importance of the material across. To get an A all you need to do is pay attention and study, I barely did either and I got a B. She is a great professor and runs her class in a traditional way so just be prepared.
Excited about the topic and her in class lectures are better than how she handles online classes. If you do have to take her, I would prefer in person since she hard to reach online and it's hard to know what you are supposed to be learning
I respect professors who make me work hard, but this was ridiculous. Nothing was ever good enough. BTW, what kind of a professor doesn't allow online students to E-mail her? Teachers should be required to hold themselves to the same standards to which they hold their students.
The class itself was fascinating (modern social problems), but she was a horrendous professor. Questions from wrong sections would be on the quizzes, and you receive zero feedback about your work. You can still get an A, but she makes it an exercise in frustration
Class was a total eye opener to things around you regarding health care and insurance. Very interesting material. READ the book! Watch the videos and take notes in class. She was so fun and enthusiastic! Definitely kept a 3 hour class entertaining
