attendance policy, daily quiz, daily homework assignments. multiple choice test.

she sucks
She is a great teacher. Doesn't grade so strict that you automatically fail.
Like sixth grade science, but it is interesting
very helpful out of class, grades labs a little tough
nice, funny, understanding, helpful, ot too strict, loves the subject
Very helpful, powerpoint lecture. Don't miss class or studying will be difficul
Has no clue. She's not even a chemist!
She allows a cheat sheet for tests, how hard can it be??
she is really nice, kinda weird, but pretty easy, alot of hw
Expects you to study for over 10hrs for her test, Its gen ed for crying out loud
Not helpful at all! Grades completely on answers not concepts. Stay away!
Arrogant and moody. Too much opinion, it's chem. not politics. Study Alot!
tests very nit-picky, i like science but i hate this class, stay away!
Terrible Class, Test Nothing like the notes, Take Madson
Class hard as hell, notes do not follow tests, teacher is wack job, run **** ru
Homework everyday, tests do not reflect what is covered in class.. Don't take

Class is hard and there's lots of homework. But she explains things better than other 132 teachers.

Chemistry is an evil course here, but she is the best chem teacher i've had...good explainer, hard tests though...hard to get a C for me
Awesome teacher, makes the class fun and interesting even tho I hate science. little bit hard, but I learned a LOT.
Awesome professor, wants you to succeed. Lots of oppurtunity to do well, with quizzes, chemskill, and worksheets. Great professor!!
very good at explaining but tests are tricky and hard, not a class that you can slack in.
She's such a swt lady is always willing to help esp. during her office hours. The course is difficult but its Chemistry so wat do u expect. Weekly online hw assignments which don't help too much but sumtimes it does.
She is always willing to help you if you dont understand something, and always has a positive attitude about helping students.
VERY nice teacher. Will make you work but doesn't make you go to quizzes every Wed. Nice lady and always more than willing to help. Best Chem 131 teacher at JMU
Lots of homework, endless notes. Very tricky tests, but many extra credit and grade-dropping opportunities. Daily in-class grades, so you have to go to class.
I LOVED her!! She's a great professor...explains things well..great attitude, very approachable. Hard tests, but lots of ways to bring your grade up.
Face it, this class is just hard but Warnaar is a very nice teacher always willing to help. Tests are pretty difficult. Do lots of practice problems and review in class problems and worksheets.
Awesome teacher...she loves all the little nerdy chemistry jokes, and has a lot of energy. She makes her lectures interesting, and her tests are very reasonable...she actually tests you on what you learned and practiced in class (who'da thought?)
Very nice lady, answers any question you have. She is a good teacher and makes class interesting. Study notes, do your homework, and read and you'll do fine in her class.
She's a nice lady, pretty clear, more like a high-school teacher, go to class bc she has daily "in class work" that boosts your grade. tests= pretty hard, multiple choice questions that ain't easy, but other stuff boosts grade
She is the nicest lady ever! I missed a few workshops, and she gave me grades anyway because I talked to her about it. Her tests can be hard, but she tests on what she teaches. I would definately take her again!
very easy if you had some chemistry background~ even if not, it's easy. Her tests are tricky but she's very organized and effective in teaching the materials. She's a very smart woman but intimidating sometimes.
Such a nice lady, is more then willing to help you. Tests are tricky, watch out. Best gen chem teacher at JMU by far.
She makes you do lots Chem Skill Builders and Group work sessions but those really prepare you for her exams. She explains how to do problems and walks you through everything, unlike other professors. Best Chem professor to get, no one else is close.
very nice lady and lectures are really clear. i understand everything except tests are kinda tricky. csb n class excercises boost grade and she also drops your lowest test score!
Dr.Warnaar is soooo nice and very approachable! The tests are pretty tough but she has in class assignments, workshops, and chemskill to help your grade. Lectures are great; very clear...i loved her:)
Very Organized, Effective Teaching skills, very clear to the point,TESTS are Harder in 132, and she is intimidating even though she's such a small lady! But Overall AWESOME
NOT a fun class. Very interesting, but the exams make you hate yourself! Make sure you take notes and pay attention in class. It may be worth your while!!
this was the most boring class ever. if you get a chance to take another teacher, do it. she talks too much and is not interesting. she doesnt answer questions in class.
The class can be easy, but you need to study! She holds problem sessions every week, and you should go. If you put work into this class, you'll get a lot out of it. Not an easy A, but it's possible!
Nice woman, classes are usually long and kind of boring, all powerpoint, tests are impossible, my highest grade was a 65 on tests, homework and in class assignements that you have everyclass boost your grade up about a full letter if you do it well. Did I mention tests are impossible
Somewhat boring with nothing but powerpoint slides, not to mention a considerable amount of homework. However, she is a fair teacher and explain things. Expect about a "C" with a decent amount of effort.
She is a very organized professor and gives clear lectures. This class is extremely difficult and you have to do alot of online chemistry problems, but that is just chemistry in general, as far as chem professors she is pretty good.
The final is a standardized test, I'm not sure why. In any case, the final does not accurately test you on what you have learned. I wish I had filled out the professor feedback sheet AFTER I took the final to let her know this.
Final is cumulative and standardized (for accreditation), but is also curved tremendously so don't freak out. Warnaar gives clear lectures and holds many extra help sessions--take advantage of them! Do as many book problems as possible for practice, and you'll do well on the tests. Make sure you read and study your notes, and you'll do well.
Seriously, what are the requirements for being a professor in the chemistry department? This woman hates college students so why is she teaching in college? She doesn't care about her students at all. There are much better professors for this subject.
This woman doesn't seem to care about the welfare of her students. Moves too quickly, tests are unnecessarily hard, spends too little time talking about complex math problems, the "cell phone rule" should only apply to one student, not the entire class, please. unless you like teaching everything to yourself, i recommend you steer clear.
Terrible professor.
I dont know what the others on here are complaining about- Dr. Warnaar gives great examples and explanations. The only way you wont do well is if you dont pay attention. Her tests are fair, but are all multiple choice(no partial credit.) If you can do the book problems, you'll do fine on the test. I have friends that took an 8 am just to have her
Nice lady, helps you out if you ceom to her office hours or problem sessions. The people who dont do well are the ones who dont pay attention in class. Chem is difficult, but Dr. Warnaar is there to help if you ask for it. She is probably the easist of all the chem 131 professors. Take her if you can.
If you can't get an A or B in general chemistry, you shouldn't be a science major. Warnaar gives you good examples during in-class assignments and workshops that make the tests really not that bad.
she is a nice lady and does offer sessions and things, but is not a good teacher.. leaves out important things that would make the topic seem a lot easier. tests are extremely difficult and make you feel worse about it than you really are. as far as chem prof go i hear she's the best... well our chem department must suck..
Okay, Chemistry is just plain hard. I loved Dr. Warnaar as a professor, she is brilliant and easy to listen to. I didn't do too well on the tests because they are so hard, this is the only class I didn't skip all semester and I'm still going to get a C. I go to class take good notes and pay attention. Chemistry is just tough! Study lots!
Dr. Warnaar is amazing! Her tests are exactly like her in class questions, so you know what to expect. She has office hours and is more than happy to meet with you. If you pay attention in class and study for the tests, you'll do well in the class. She is by far the best chem 131 prof. in the department. Take her if possible
Warnaar is a great professor. She keeps up with current events, has easy in class quizzes at the beginning and end of class every day (grade boosters), offers 10pts extra credit, and also makes review sessions for each test. Her tests are multiple choice & tricky (which answer is the most correct), but you will definitely learn from her course.
warnaar was def a very clear professor and i actually learned a lot from her class. chem obviously is not easy but a B is very possible with not too extensive amounts of studying with Warnaar...take her
Great professor, very clear. Tests on what she teaches. Gives in-class group assignments to help you learn--great for studying when tests come around. Good powerpoints, very helpful if you approach her. Interested in seeing students succeed. Requires a good amount of work on your part. I got an A both semesters.
Good teacher for this huge class, but nothing special. Hard to get help from her because of the sheer amount of people, but I'm sure there are much worse professors out there for this class. Can only miss 4 classes before you start losing points, tests/quizzes are simple, never opened my book.
she is a good teacher i highly reccomend her she has been my counselor, lab professor and teacher for 2 semesters and she is really willing to help in office hours. Her tests are harder however just make sure to do the book problems
She is an amazing professor. I learned so much under her than my Chem 131 professor. Her lecture's aren't too bad, you should go to class because she has daily in class assignments (which boost up your grade if you do them!), there is chem skill builder (the devil), and workshops. Her tests are a little tricky, but do the book problems. Best teache
She's a nice lady...outside of class. She doesn't explain things well, has bad handwriting, moves to quickly, tests used just to fail students, and she even said the first day, "The chemistry department cares about bio majors about as much as they care about us". ya its true, thanks to terrible teachers like you.
This class is very intense. It requires a lot of effort on your part, but if you are willing to work hard and be dilligient a pretty good grade is possible. Dr. Warnaar is nice, willing to help, and sometimes fun. The tests are multiple choice and are pretty hard.
Dr. Warnaar was an amazing Chem 131 professor. She gave very clear notes, and examples during class. Unfortunately, her tests are very difficult. The work is easily managable, but since the tests are all multiple choice and usually only 23 questions, missing a few questions will usually result in a poor grade. Extremlely helpful! RECOMMENDED!
Dr. Warnaar is awesome. I'm not the greatest at chemistry, but I still don't mind going to class. She shows concern for her students, which is definately a plus. I am one of those students that was failing (oops) but she was willing to do whatever she could to help. She's very approachable. I highly recommend this professor!!
she was alright, uptight about cell phones, leaving class early, etc, her tests were way too hard, and i do well in chem and understand it! shes very eccentric, i mean i heard horror stories about the other professors so maybe shes not as bad, but compared to my chem 120 teacher, she sucked
She is one of the best teachers that i have ever had. Out of all the gen chem teachers she is by far the best. If you cannot understand her go in for extra help and she will work with you as long as it takes. I really enjoyed her class. TAKE HER!!
Her lecture classes are really boring...teaching skills are okay. I got a low B for the class, but had to work really hard for it. Her tests are pretty hard.
She is by far the greatest teacher I ever had at JMU.If you do all the CSB and go to her practice sessions u will get an A-i was terrified of chem until i met her. go to her office hours she loves to help.
she is a really nice teacher and is very helpful in her office hours. doesn't curve though, and some of the other teachers do. her tests are pretty tricky, but she helps out a lot.
Absolutely loved this teacher! She is CRYSTAL clear about concepts and her tests aren't that bad as long as you attend class and do the homework problems in the back of the book. If you don't do practice problems, it won't matter who your prof is you will not get a good grade. Aside from that, take this professor, you will not regret it!
I though she was a great teacher and that she made the subject pretty easy to understand. She had us work in groups every friday and it was nice to get to know a group of people in a large class.
Amazing, amazing professor. She is so clear on what she wants... so much that you feel extremely prepared for the tests. Does practice problems in class with clickers that are similar to the ones put on test. AWESOME in office hours and pretty much always welcome to questions. Best chemistry teacher, by far.
I was a chem major..... then i took this class her tests are evil
She is a pretty good professor. Not as good as Augustine, but she sure does love Chemistry. Her tests are doable. But, she does get pissy at the class very easily; I wish her skin was a little more thick. She's above average. PS you can drop one test 8)
HORRIBLE professor. She doesn't care about the students and doesn't curve. She acts superior and doesn't believe that you should be able to pass a class without studying for 20 hours a week. COMPLETE waste of a GPA and a HORRIBLE professor. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS.
She is a very nice person and is obsessed with chemistry. She is very fast paced though and sometime doesnt cover all the material as clearly as needed so aris can be hard. You may have to do a lot of self teaching and time at the help center. You do get to drop your lowest test grade though.
She is a pretty good teacher. Although she's fast paced, she always answers questions and is good about explaining things your don't understand. If you pay attention and keep up, you'll do fine
This class wasn't bad. warnaar gives study guides for her exams and as long as you can do them and understand the general concepts you will do fine on the tests. 3rd test many thought they did really well but the grades didn't agree...aka they werent good. but she drops the lowest test grade. 4 tests and a final. take her.
Starts out like high school chem, then gets harder, but its never terrible. The tests are short, so if you miss a couple questions it brings down your grade a lot. Online hw and in-class clicker questions are grade boosters. 4 tests and a standard final. She is a good teacher, makes things clear.
She's a good enough teacher. Her third test was strange, but she does let you keep the tests to study from. She drops your lowest test grade out of 4 and some of the lowest Aris grades as well. Aris can be a massive pain, though, and you may have to teach yourself some of the material if she doesn't go over it much.
Dr. Warnaar is very nice. Her tests can be tough but she gives you very helpful practice tests for each one. Lowest test is dropped, and one cumulative final. Chemistry is alot of work no matter what. Go to the pass sessions and help sessions, they really helped me. I recommend taking her.
Chemistry all around is a complicated subject, but Dr. Warnaar really knows her stuff! Her lectures can seem all over the place sometimes, but usually they're nice and concise. Just be sure to go to pass sessions, review sessions, and see her outside of class.
I loved this class and warnaar. Tests are not extremely difficult if you know how to study and use roop hall and textbook. Printing out notes before class is also very helpful. clicker quizes, aris homework and workshops can bost your grade if you do them all. Hated chemistry before this class
Very helpful in office hours. Has consistent homework online (ARIS). Drops one of her tests, which is a grade booster. She puts all of her lecture slides on blackboard before class. Puts up practice tests up on blackboard before tests as well. She is always there to help and has weekly problem sessions. Great class!
Lots of outside help available, but these can be in conflict with other classes (like they were for me). Lots of studying required for chem in general, but perhaps more so for her since she doesn't curve. She has fairly organized lectures, workshops every couple weeks, lots of ARIS work, and mandatory attendance (with 3 "sick" days).
I think Dr. Warnaar is the best out of the other gen-chem professors. She is clear when teaching, does lots of review, drops 3 homeworks, 1 test, and lets you miss 3 days. She gives out practice tests that are almost identical to the real tests, which is a huge help. Studying is still really important, though.
Goes through the material fast and can be a bit all over the place at times. Still, probably one of the better gen chem professors.
If you actually put in the time ANY chemistry class requires, you will do fine in her class. She does tend to rush through lectures, BUT her tests are very similar to the practice ones she gives out! Sit up front, do all suggested work, and you will do fine! She is really awesome in office hours also! Take her (better than all the other options)
Awesome professor. Lectures are to the point with enough examples to comprehend the material. Tests are relatively easy - all you need to do is read the textbook, go over notes, and do the online homework. Which sounds like a lot but online hw forces you to be on track with reading. Hoping to take her again next semester!
She is very fair, clear, and organized. If you excel on her online homework then you will do just fine on her tests. Would definitely recommend.
Great teacher and makes extensions when necessary. Very understanding.
Waarnar is amazing. She is extremely organized and you always know what to expect in class and in the homework. She is extremely helpful during office hours. You have to put in the work, but if you do it will pay off. She is definitely one of the few gems in JMU's chemistry department.
I took her for Chem131 and she was honestly so good! She gives you practice tests, and the tests are roughly the same. She also gives online homework that is due every day, but it takes about 5 minutes and the "graded" ones are word for word from the book problems, which she gives you the answers to. She also drops the lowest test/attendance/etc
Dr. Warnaar is a great teacher for Chem. I had her for both 131 and 132 and really liked her teaching style. Tests only have 22 questions which means no room for error but she prepares you well. If you can, take her!
Chemistry is a very hard class no matter who the professor is. She is very good at teaching the material and making it understandable. She does a great job of teaching the material and its really easy to understand what she teaches. She is super helpful in office hours and she posts practice tests that are very similar to the actual test. Take Her.
Hands down best chem teacher you will get here at JMU. Tests are pretty easy. She gives a review test before the exam that is pretty identical to the real thing. Extremely helpful during office hours and really cares about her students. Highly suggest.
She is a great teacher and is very clear with what she is explaining! Chemistry is hard but she does a good job of trying to simplify it and make it as understandable as possible. Also the constant clicker questions are nice, they keep you engaged. Also her weekly workshops help a lot and let you practice problems
I love Professor Warnaar! Chem 131 is not an easy class but if you go to class and do the online homework assignments you should be fun! She is up beat and very approachable.
Warnaar is amazing! She is the most helpful teacher I have ever had, in lab and lecture! She is not even my lecture teacher and she attends our weekly workshops to assist anyone who has questions. She is always there to help but you have to work hard, Chemistry is not easy and there is no such thing as an easy A for chem.
The 8am time slot is tough, but worth it. She is pretty clear in her lectures and how the course is organized. There is a homework assignment due every class but without it the information wouldn't be understood. Really a very caring lady that isnt out to get anyone. Tests require a good amount of preparation though.
She has very unconventional teaching methods and poorly conveys key topics in lecture. Online homework is due before each class, but she actually teaches you how to do it the next day.. She does provides practice tests which make you feel like you're prepared, but come test day the tests show close to no similarities to what you practiced. Avoid.
She's completely unorganized and most of the time during lectures nobody knows what she is talking about. She taught the material for the midterm the class before we took it. Math 103 is supposed to be a joke, but this class wasn't. Highly recommend taking another teacher.
Dr. Warnaar co-taught my chem 131 lecture with Dr. Baber and ended up teaching a small amount of the lectures. I really enjoyed Dr. Baber's lectures, but when Dr. Warnaar lectured it was very obvious she knows what she's doing and has been teaching the course for a while. She was also very helpful and nice during office hours. Take Warnaar!
Her and Dr. Baber co-taught my class and did a great job. The chemistry department at JMU is really good and they're a huge reason why. Although they only teach the 8 o'clock classes, the lectures aren't too strenuous. There is a TON of online homework which only counts as 5% of your grade. No final curve, so make sure you do well on the tests.
As a Bio major i had to take this class and going into it i knew chem was my worst subject and holy crap did that show. I struggled the entire semester trying to just get the grade i needed. She's a great teacher and she curved the final grade which ultimately let me pass her class so that was nice.
The bottom line is chemistry is hard af. Warnaar is definitely your best option to be the most successful as long as you put the work in. Again chem is hard so there is no guaranteed good grade, but if you work hard Warnaar is the best way to go
Dr. Warnaar is by far the best professor at JMU for chemistry. Chemistry is hard but she is very helpful and explains everything clearly. If you need help go to her office hours and problem solving sessions, they saved me! She is really willing to help and is great at answering any question.
I used to love chemistry, but now I hate it. The most miserable class I ever took. Tests are impossible. Grades manipulated to make them lower. Lectures are very clear, though, and she's great in office hours. Still, be happy if you pass. Really good about helping us review for the final exam, which is a headache.
Really good Chemistry professor. Five tests the whole semester. The tests aren't difficult if you go to PASS sessions (especially the session where she teaches) and study. She gives a lot of online homework that takes a long time. The online homework is the only homework she gives. No pop quizzes or regular quizzes. She is funny and upbeat.
I have no idea why Dr. Warner has a B on here... she is amazing! Any chemistry you take will be difficult but she is so helpful and will work with you until you understand everything. She's upbeat, funny, and great at explaining things. I was extremely nervous taking this course but Dr. Warnaar helped me soon much. the 8 am is worth is believe me.
Dr. Warnaar is very clear in explaining the materials and helpful during office hours and study sessions. I honestly do not know why her rating is so low. Tests are not that hard and she drops the lowest test grade. I really enjoy her lecture. Take her if you can!!
Dr. Warnaar is a FANTASTIC teacher for chemistry and I highly recommend her. All chem classes are tough so don't expect a easy A in any of them but she is a good teacher and the tests are very fair. There are no surprises and it is easy to do well on them (80 or higher). Definitely take her as she makes herself available with weekly review sessions
She's my adviser! An awesome lady, will definitely be there for you if needed. I also took her chem lab with Dr. Caran - both very clear professors. My only advice is to ask questions when you're confused, especially in LAB. They will guide you, and you'll probably need their help as a last resort. There's a lot to know and remember, just know it.
Dr. Warnaar was one of the best professors I had for my first semester. She is very clear as to what she wants you to know for her class and if you don't understand something she has help sessions that you can go to and she is approachable which makes it easier to ask her questions. I would defiantly recommend her and I would take her again.
Dr. Warnaar is probably one the best gen chem professors at this school. She's definitely the on you want. Lectures are very straight forward. Only homework is online homework quizzes, which are annoying but super helpful in actually learning the material. Does practices quizzes before every test and reviews them in class, which helps a lot!
This was the hardest lab i have ever had to take. If she doesn't think your lab reports are an A, or she finds three things she doesn't like about them then it is an automatic 0 even if you assignment was worth a B. At one point she gave me an A and changed her mind a month and a half later and changed it to a 0. All Reports were due Sunday at 8am.
Dr. Warnaar is definitely the best professor for 131 and 132. She is extremely organized and her lectures are very easy to follow. She gives lots of homework but it really helps reinforce what you learned in class. She holds weekly study sessions that are very helpful.
Warnaar is very enthusiastic and helpful. Her tests are tough because there are a only a small amount of questions on them. Definitely do all the little assignments she gives. Go to all of the workshop groups and do all of the connect. These grades make a difference. Don't skip class! Her personal study sessions are really helpful.
I had Dr. Warnaar for both CHEM 131 and 132. She is definitely one of the best gen chem teachers. She is passionate about the material and is very approachable outside of class. I don't think that her tests were hard and impossible, but that could just be me. TAKE HER! TAKE HER! TAKE HER!
Great professor, I just really suck at chemistry. Gives group assignments to prepare for tests. Has a lot of clicker questions. Posts lectures online which is VERY helpful.
Take the Warnster you won't regret it
Took Dr. Warnaar for 131 and 132 and she is by far the best gen chem teacher at this school. Go to class and pay attention in lecture and it isn't hard to get a good grade in a difficult class. She is very clear in lectures, definitely take her!
Easy lab, just show up and follow the directions. She cares a lot and wants everyone to succeed.
Dr. Warnaar knows her stuff and tries her best to help you learn it too. She records and posts her lectures, but you get a point for every day of attendance (using the clicker). There are 4 tests, she drops the lowest grade. Daily homework and quizes help boost your grade.
Dr. Warnaar is definitely one of the best Chemistry professors there are. Has 4 tests and a final. The lowest test grade gets dropped. Has clicker questions that count as "attendance" in every class. Also has group workshops. Do the online quizzes, workshops and clicker questions to boost your grade and you should have no problem.
Warnaar is awesome about resources. She hands you literally everything you need to succeed. There is homework due every class day that is not quick, so you have to pace yourself or else you'll be up all night. Get the online book not the hard copy. She drops a bunch of stuff so it helps your grade. And all lectures are posted online after class!
Dr. Warnaar is an awesome teacher! Chem 132 is a hard course, but her lectures are amazing and super clear. She drops one of your 4 tests and is always willing to help. Workshop, connect and learn smart help boost your grade.
Dr. Warnaar is the best gen chem teacher at JMU. Chem 132 is a hard class but she makes everything easy to understand. I HIGHLY recommend going to her study sessions as they were extremely helpful and recaped the weeks material in about a hour. SO lucky I had her for 131 and 132!
She's always super helpful and puts an effort to make you feel welcome and included! She's the best
By far the best choice of a Chem Prof. at JMU. Clear lectures, available for office hours. The homework is hard at first, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be fine. You get out what you put into this class.
Dr. Warnaar is such an amazing teacher. She has made me love chemistry, that I am actually switching my major to chemistry. I would definitely recommend her for Chem 131. She is clear on what she expects, yes there is a good amount of homework but it helps out alot on understanding the material, and on the test. SHE IS GREAT, take her!
She is the best option for chem 131. In general this is a tough class and you HAVE to work for it but she gives you everything you need (notes, text book examples, practice questions, drops lowest test) to do well in the class. Take her.
Good teacher and if you go to lecture and do the txtbook problems this class is very doable. You take 4 tests but she drops 1, usually have quizzes due every Friday that are graded 80-100100%, 0-790%. Quiz Q's are usually identical or very close to book problems and all the answers to the book Q's are in the solution guide posted on her syllabus.
Workshops every Friday with a group of 4-6 which does help to understand the material. Chemistry is tough but she makes it understandable if you're willing to put in the effort.
Dr. Warnaar was a very good teacher always thoroughly explained the topics and we had workshops every Friday where she would walk around and make sure everyone was understanding the worksheet. Really nice lady.
Tries to be helpful but tends to leave out important info such as grading the MT either as 100 or 0 (stayed up late too many times before she told us!). Workshops are good review but groups never finish them and most people don't know what they're doing, which can confuse u too. Definitely go to PASS as her lectures aren't sufficient for tests.
SHE DOESN'T CURVE. She claims that the curve is "added into the grading system", but when I took Chem 132 with Liu, a big curve was added. Still didn't get a good enough grade, but oh well. After taking the class AGAIN, I still got a C-. She was not my favorite teacher (and yes, I'm salty I have to take this freaking class a third time)
Her class is super easy if you show up and do the homework! She gives away free participation grades if you show up and her practice exams are literally the same thing as her exam. Take her, its worth it. You will have to study and try but if you do that youll be fine.
Dr. Warnaar knows exactly what concepts are going to be difficult for students and she knows chemistry so well, that she explains things like second nature. Very very skilled and great teacher.
Dr. Warnaar is the best professor I have ever had. She is fun, caring and genuinely wants her students to succeed. I enjoyed her lectures, and she explains material very well. She does in-class workshops that help you learn exactly what you need to know for exams. If you're willing to work hard, you will succeed in her class.
As somebody who had to retake Chem 131, her lectures are much clearer than other professors. In my previous class I was rushing to take notes only to still not understand, but she focuses mainly on things you will need for exams. Very approachable and genuinely wants to help if you show up to practice sessions.
Dr. Warnaar is an amazing chem professor if you are not strong at chemistry. She is so lenient, drops 1 test, 5 hw, and 6 attendance at least. She wants to see you succeed and if you build a relationship with her early on she is more willing to help you out later. She hates seeing students who work hard fail, so don't be afraid to go to her ever!!
Dr. Warnaar was amazing. I don't like chem but enjoyed her class. You have 4 quizzes but she drops your lowest one at the end of the semester and gives practice quizzes. Lots of mindtap homework but it really helps you understand her lectures better. She offers study sessions along with her office hours and they're very helpful! Take her class!!
Chem 131 is hard and especially online, it was even harder. Dr. Warnaar is a super nice professor, but all of the lectures were asynchronous and I did not learn a single thing. Her class was only required once a week and it was only for group work. Her PASS sessions were helpful, but I still ended up not learning anything.
Prof Warnaar was a great choice for Chem 131 online. All of the chem teachers in the department helped with the lectures so that was nice to get some new perspective, but there was only 1 mandatory zoom meeting per week and it was a group activity. You have to watch the lecture videos on your own and the quizes are extremely hard but shes great!
Dr. Warnaar's online lectures are just workshops where you work with team members on a collaborative assignment and get to ask her and TAs for help. A bulk of your learning will be done independently. Homework, classwork, and 4 quizzes + final, but lots of dropped grades. She's very accessible outside of class, so don't hesitate to ask questions.
She was alright. Since this was an online class, all of the chemistry professors recorded lectures so it wasn't just her teaching. This class was a ton of work, but that would be the case for any Chem131 class so you can't really go wrong taking her.
