LOVE her!!! Great teacher and very interesting. Willing to help you get into the industry without any expierence. Attendance is mandatory miss 3 your okay but miss 4 without a good reason you are liable for an instant failure. If you talk to her about it though she will help in whatever way she can.
GREAT GREAT GREAT PROF.! Easy class! 6 question multiple choice quiz every week (only counts 5 questions) and they're from the reading. I typically made A's on them and barely skimmed the book. She'll help you w/ volunteering, getting a job, and in any other way she possibly can! I wish she taught other subjects, I'd take her for every class!
Love this lady. She's so nice and funny. Her tests can be hard, but just keep up with the reading. She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Obviously she's well off so she has lots of interesting stories to tell. TAKE HER!
Great person. She genuinely cares about each and every student she has. While she is not the greatest teacher I've ever had, she is by no means bad. I believe that she will be an excellent teacher with some more experience. Fairly easy class, enjoyable, funny, and gives you knowledge for the practical world. Shes always there for you, take her!
Awesome teacher! Professor Deb is honestly one of the nicest most genuine people I have ever met. She cares about every single one of her students. Her stories are great! I didn't buy the book, I just went to the library to study and do outlines. She is easy and fair, and you learn a lot. TAKE HER!!!
She's awesome! I learned so much in her class. She has really good lectures, provides great power points, and is a very understanding person. She takes attendance, but don't worry, you'll want to show up to every class. I wish she taught every course I need for my degree!
Isnt much of a teacher, takes directly from book. One thing that I hated is that she says something in the beginning of the semester and changes it towards the end. Her tests that she makes herself have many errors and most of the questions do not make sense. Nice class in the beginning but towards the end I hated going!
Very nice, helpful lady. Passionate about her job, lots of extra credits, difficult exams.
She is awesome. She genuinely wants all of her students to pass. Grades come from attendance, quizzes, tests, and a paper. Gives lots of extra credit opportunities so its hard to fail. Test are hard though. Read the book, and you'll be ok. I busted my chops for a B. Interesting subject matter and she makes great for networking as well. Take her!!
She's not a bad person, but I couldn't stand her as a teacher. Her class is very "discussion oriented"; meaning that she calls on students to answer her questions - but instead of just answering the questions almost everyone she calls on (she picks favorites) tells this long story that really has no relevance to class and nobody cares about.
I always left this class extremely frustrated. She picks favorites and continually asks for their opinions in class because her students have "so much insight into the industry"... it's an INTRO class.. how much insight can they have?? The things she finds important enough to put on a quiz (has one for almost every chapter) is totally arbitrary.
Professor Deb is AMAZING! Every single student is her favorite student. She really takes the time to get to know everyone. She cares about our success and our futures. I have never seen such a dedicated educator. UCF is very fortunate to have her on staff... she is the best professor that they have. Thank you for making a difference in our lives!
I would like to say something to the two students who wrote negative reviews. Please know that Professor Deb is ALWAYS willing to receive feedback from her students in regards to what she teaches/how she teaches. She is a very warm and caring instructor who welcomes positive and negative feedback. During the semester, she will ask for comment cards
Prof Deb is really cool. She will try to help you in any way she can. She tries to make the class as interesting as possible.
I'll start by saying professor Weissberg is an incredible and beautiful human being. Those two horrible comments are absurd. The class is very discussion oriented which is why everyone loves it so much. She cares about our insight and opinions. You obviously have none. You cannot relate to any of her amazing stories. She is the most helpful teacher
I forgot to add, Professor Deb is always available. She truly cares about each and every one of her students. She has helped me through so much, I will forever be thankful. Shame on the students that so easily hurt such a good person's feelings.
This teacher tries to be very helpful, but she tells stories about her 'experiences' more than she discusses the actual course material. If you like a straightforward teacher, don't take this one.
I don't think any of these reviews are meant to hurt the professors feelings.. most professors don't read these anyway because they are each students' OPINIONS and PERCEPTIONS of the class. I agree with the "negative" opinion; she tells stories and uses examples to try to illustrate each concept, but she ends up rambling just like her students.
AWESOME TEACHER if you like discussions.very educated in the hosp. field.she takes time to know all her students,IF they choose to be known. Her test are difficult but not impossible, you have to study the book and know the power points.many opportunities for extra credit!if you want a good semester, you have to put the time in.
Prof. Deb makes an effort to get to know her students, and to provide them with as many opportunities as possible and I appreciated that. Her tests can be difficult because some of the questions are not worded as well as they could be, but she's always happy to answer questions if you're confused. Do the chpt outlines, and focus on the paper!
Professor Deb is amazing and such a sweetheart. She will always go out of her way to help you if you're having trouble and offers a few extra credit opportunities. As long as you outline the chapters she asks and come to class there is no reason you will not get an A in her class.
Professor Deb is awesome!!! She definitely goes out of her way to help her students. It really really REALLY helps if you talk to her one-on-one during office hours. If she knows your face, you're more likely to get a good grade. Her tests are tough and kinda detailed, but she warns the class prior to.
Professor Deb is amazing. She cares about her students and will go above and beyond to help any one of them. She offers a lot of extra credit and attendance is mandatory, but the class is enjoyable. She is definitely one of the best professors I have had thus far.
She doesn't pick favorites! If you go up to her, make yourself known, and show your interest, she will remember your name and keep you in mind. Also, it's better to have a teacher with stories, because it shows she has experience. Cannot stress enough how AMAZING she is!! Sweetest most understanding professor I've ever met.
Professor Deb is AMAZING! You need to use the textbook and study for tests but other than that she lets you know of ALL info needed and will work with you as much as possible. by far my favorite professor on rosen campus!!
LOVE HER!!! She is so interested in the field and very knowledgeable. She goes above and beyond to make her students successful. There are 3 exams and tons of extra credit. Final exam is chapters 1-15. 1 research paper that she helps with. Go to her during office hours even if you are understanding everything. Participate in class!
Disorganized, makes her own exams with tons of mistakes. Seems very nice, but actually most of it is for a show and not real. She doesn`t give C`s as she doesn`t like confrontation, easy B at least!
Professor Deb is an INCREDIBLE TEACHER. There isn't enough room on this page to describe what an amazing, knowledgeable teacher she is. If you make yourself known and see her during her office hours, along with putting for effort you have no reason to do bad in this course! You'll love it!
She's a great professor and you will get an A if you just talk to her. I don't normally like the teaching style she applies, but she is really insightful and a great connection to have with anyone in the industry.
Amazing teacher! Speak up in class and give your opinion on topics and she will appreciate you for it! Expecting an A or B in the class and never used the book! Please teach more classes!
Professor Deb is one of the most amazing and sincere people i have ever met. I loved her. Her tests are not easy by any means and it's partially because she tends to word things very confusing. She truly wants everyone to succeed and when you show interest, she loves it. I'm expecting a high B and I am a horrible test taker.
Prof. Deb is genuine and sincere in her passion for what she teaches and her passion for her students to do well. She is AWESOME!!!!!! She's always willing to help and DOES NOT PLAY FAVORITES! If you think she plays favorites, you're not participating in the class. The more you speak up, the better she'll get to know you, of course(common sense)
She is great!!!! My favorite teacher at Rosen. She really wants you to know the business and find an interest for you. She is willing to help you after school and help you find jobs. Best teacher to take at Rosen/UCF!!!
Prof. Deb is so nice and helpful. Her tests are hard but you have quizzes with outlines that easily boost your grade. If you seek out her help, she will do almost anything she can to help you. One of the best teachers that I've had! Really funny, take this class!
I loved Professor Deb. Her class was more difficult than I anticipated but still fairly easy. Didn't buy the textbook and managed to get a B+. Just study her slides and do the outlines for the quizzes and you should be fine. She's awesome but don't take advantage of her sweetness. And keep your cell phone away!!
Professor Deb is one of the best professors ever! She is so genuine and always helped her students. Her tests are worded funny, but she warns you about that at the start of the semester. If you are having any trouble she is always happy to help. Get the book and do the outlines because she will give you extra credit on quizzes. Great professor!
Prof Deb (thats what she likes to be called) is the most wonderful amazing teacher I have ever had at Rosen, she cares so much about her students and will bend over backward to help you! Class is a lot of work but is so worth it! You are doing yourself a huge disservice if you never take a course with her!!
One of the best professors at UCF. For those of you who are hospitality majors, take Professor Weissberg. Go to class and do not skip her lectures. Several quizzes and four exams. Powerpoints and handouts are extremely helpful. She will also help get a job for you in the industry and help you with resumes and interviews.
Professor Deb is the best professor I've ever had. She is willing to work with you on whatever you need. She gives 4 exams and multiple quizzes but they only help your grade. She is an amazing teacher and keeps the class interesting. I 100% recommend her.
Prof Deb is amazing, so helpful and genuinely interested, however, her communications class is work intensive! There's literally 1-5 things due each class every class all semester, do not take this if you have a life or job. It's impossible.
Best teacher I have ever taken. She will help you if you go to her, one of the best contacts to have in the industry and very passionate about her teaching. Favorite class would take her again if she taught more than just intro.
Without a doubt the best professor I've had. Very passionate about what she's teaching, very nice, funny, and wants to do what she can to help you succeed. Do an outline each chapter, she'll average your quiz grade with 100. Definitely recommend!
Prof. Deb has to be the sweetest teacher I've ever had. She will do anything to keep the class interested. Attendance is mandatory, and every week there is a quiz, which are easy, but can sometimes be tricky. She also has a career paper which isn't too bad. She knows A LOT of people in the hospitality industry, overall a great teacher.
Prof. Deb is a wonderful teacher and mentor. Her tests are not easy, but she encourages outlining chapters and gives extra credit on weekly quizzes. If you outline you will receive an A! The paper is lengthy, but you learn a lot about yourself and the industry. I would recommend her to anyone even remotely interested in a hospitality career.
Professor Deb is a wonderful professor. She gives weekly quizzes that I highly suggest doing every outline for. There are 3 tests they are not easy I averaged a C on every test. & one project that is very lengthy but you learn a lot about your career choice. She is extremely helpful emailing, texting, and office hours are all there for contacts.
Wonderful teacher who really cares about her student's success. Quizzes based on book chapters every week that are easy making it and I breezed through them without it, but the book is probably still a safe bet. One of the major grades is a research paper due about a month from the end of the semester, but it is guided well so its not difficult.
Really gets you set up for the real world. you will have a perfect resume, cover letter, and interview set up at the end of your course. Best preparatory class in all 4 years.
By far the best teacher I've had. Absolutely take her. If you go to class and pay attention, you will get an A. She makes it super easy to learn with fun, engaging examples. You'll look forward to her class. She's awesome!
Absolutely amazing professor. She does everything she can for her students and expects greatness out of them. Really breaks down the chapters and provides great speakers and great style of helping students get good grades. She hates cheating and when she asks you to read expects it to be done. Keeps the class very interesting.
Professor Deb is probably one of the best teachers at UCF, she definitely is very passionate about what she teaches. Attendance is not mandatory but I suggest you go. She puts all her notes online and is very helpful in person (she takes a long time to respond via email). There are about 4 exams and one paper. All pretty easy if you pay attention.
Professor Deb is amazing! She is very close with her students and makes sure to develop relationships with her students. A case study on the company of your choice and a culture presentation. The rest is prepping for the career fair via resumes and cover letters, etc. A lot of busy work but will prepare you for the future. Definitely take her!
She cares about her students and their dreamsgoals and will do everything in her power to help you reach them. Tough class, a lot of work, but definitely worth it. Semester project and most work is about landing your actual dream job (which I did). Taking her was the best decision I've made throughout college. Highly recommend.
Class is mainly graded based on weekly quizzes, three easy tests, and one research paper. Her assignments are fair, but sometimes she's not clear about due dates, and at the beginning of the semester she wasn't clear on how the class was graded overall, which was frustrating. Overall, she's a good teacher and I would take her again.
Professor Deb is the best professor I have ever had, and I have had quite a few. She genuinely cares about all of her students and will do everything in her power to help them with anything. She has quizzes on every chapter, so you have to read, but she always curves the quiz grades. She is such a kind woman and a great professor, take her classes!
She's the best professor I have in UCF so far. Helpful and is always there for you and help you whenever you need. MUST TAKE HER!
She's the best!
She truly loves and cares for her students. She is a very hard worker and expects the same from you. Her class has a lot and I mean A LOT of assignments. You will spend money ordering business cards, buying 3 books etc. It will be worth it, because you will learn about yourself and end up finding an awesome job!
I LOVE THIS WOMAN. she is the nicest most caring person you will ever meet. she cares about all of her students and wants you to pass. this was intro so it was easy obviously. quizzes every week on the chapter, if you do an outline for them you basically get a 100. theres one paper due at the end and 3-4 easy tests. can't wait to take her again
Professor Deb was one of my first professors and she was amazing. She works hard to make her students successful, and maintains contact even when you've finished her class. Do the readings, come to class, and study, and the class is an easy A. One big research paper to pick a career path. Great teacher who I plan to take again.
There are a ton of assignments for this class but they're all essential to aid you towards graduation. Professor Deb genuinely cares about each of her students & will make sure she goes out of her way to help you. This class has helped me more than any other class I've taken the entire time I've been at Rosen & made me feel prepared for graduation.
Professor Deb is my favorite instructor at the Rosen College. She constantly has students visiting her office hours because she is so willing to help. This class is a lot of homework, but it is all worth it. This class single handedly got me a position at a Consulting Firm due to the professionalism which was portrayed through my resume packet.
Professor Deb is by far one of the best professors I have had at Rosen. She is beyond helpful, and is more than willing to help with anything in and outside of the classroom as long as it relates to your professional career. I highly recommend her preferably before your last semester. She will get you a job at the career fair!!!
She is an amazing and inspiring teacher and I highly recommend you take her class at Rosen and not the one on main campus.
To me, this professor was very average, you had to read the chapter and take a quiz on it before she taught the chapter in class, so I learned more from the book than her. However, the material was easy to understand. There is a "Career paper" that she broke down and made it an easy write. She does have a lot of professionals come in to speak.
Very entertaining professor. She is there for you whenever you need help ! There is a quiz each week on the chapters that seems hard at 1st but when it comes to the test you don't have to cram b.c you know the info already. Only 1 paper due which is easy b/c it is about your dream career . Mandatory attendance and is VERY STRICT about cellphones!
Professor Deb is awesome! Quizzes from the textbook every week, but they're incredibly helpful in understanding the material. One paper that's broken down into smaller assignments so it isn't that bad. She is super funny and incredibly helpful if you need her. Guest speakers. Take her!!
I've never had a professor so in to doing her job. Professor Deb truly wants everyone to learn everything in her course and learn it well. Theres one major paper for her class but she splits it up in to portions which in turn make it easier to turn in the final paper. She is truly a motivational teacher and I won't forget her lectures
Her lectures are good and cover the material. Weekly quizzes based off the book which are pretty easy and cement the material in your head. However the paper felt like a pain. Shes always talking about it and you have to turn in something for it almost every two weeks. I would just like to write a paper but she adds a ton of steps to that.
I absolutely LOVE Prof Deb. She's amazing, sweet and caring. Genuinely loves her students and she's so much fun! You can't BS in her classes but why would you when she's so awesome?! Definitely taking her again. Her exams can be a little crazy but worth taking her if you can. Always smiling. Just take her, don't think twice.
Favorite professor! Sit in the front row and introduce yourself, she loves helping students get jobs! She makes a 300 person lecture feel small, remembering students names and talking one on one. She made me fall in love with my major, worth taking with her! 1 mini quiz a week based off of textbook, and interesting lectures w/ guest speakers
One of the most caring and inspirational professors I have had. The fact that she remembers everyone's name in a class of almost 300 students says a lot. She really does want her students to succeed . Her help with my resume and career fair tips is the reason I got my job. Her tests are tough but are not too bad. Entertaining lectures! Take her!
This class is not an easy A but you will love every moment working for it! You will take weekly quizes, 75 question exams, a really long Career Research Paper, and more. But Professor Deb makes it fun, interesting, and interactive. Definitely my favorite professor!
She really cares about her students. The quizzes every week are based off of the textbook. As others have said, she definitely assigns pointless busywork and the career plan assignment seemed pointless. Tests can be tough if you don't attend class. I think I would take her again, even though she was very disorganized.
LOVE HER! She's so nice. Cares a lot about her students and her job. Get to know her, go to office hours, and give a face to a name. She could get you a job!
Horribly unorganized and unfocused while teaching. Lectures are straight from slides and can be boring. Requires attendance and textbook reading, and gives weekly quizzes based on the book Easy class, but it can become repetitive and boring. Professor is VERY helpful, and will listen to you. Visit office hours and make sure she knows who you are.
What an encourager, Professor Deb makes class fun and interesting. The career plan research paper is very thorough and has many parts; but this helped to make the final paper a breeze to finalize. Her tests are tough and you must study her powerpoint slides. Overall great class!
Amazing teacher, you can tell she truly cares about her students. Will go out of her way to help you. Lots of homework but all of it has a purpose (no busy work). One big case study and 2 group projects. One of my favorite teachers at Rosen.
Professor Deb is amazing! But don't take her for an easy A. She will make you work for it. She really gets to know her students and tries to help them succeed, but she will also know if you are slacking off. She also is very connected in the industry and eager to help her students make connections.
Professor Deb is one of the top professors at Rosen College. Listen to her advice, follow her rubrics, and utilize her networks and contacts. She will stay up for hours on end helping her students succeed. Take her for communications and you will land your dream job at the career fair. You will need to purchase and read her books.
The most respected professor by the students. She engages the class in real-life experiences within the field of study. Make sure you follow her guidelines, which will help prepare you for your dream job. The Case Study and the presentations helped me prepare for my dream job. There is quite a bit of work to be done, but its manageable.
Professor Deb is by far the best professor I've ever had throughout my college experience. She really cares about her students and wants everyone to succeed. She makes you work for your grade, but you are guaranteed to learn. She has an infectious personality, making her lectures extremely interesting. I loved her so much, i'm taking her again.
She is a great professor but she will make you work for it. She has a ton of assignments and the due dates change often. She won't give you a syllabus so you never can really plan out whats going on. She can be very disorganized but she is also very knowledgeable. She has tons of connections and can help you reach your goals.
She is has a personality and it will be clear from day one. She really cares about her students. This is an intro class so be expected to work for the grade you want. Make sure that you take advantage of any extra credit she gives. Read the book carefully and take really good notes. The deadlines for the work will go by quickly so start early
Such a beautiful and genuine soul, take advantage of the extra credit, study the chapters for the exams and quizzes and you will be fine. She is very helpful and wants to see all her students succeed!
Professor Deb has been such an amazing teacher since day one. She truly and deeply cares about her students and I like that about her. She works hard to remember your name in a class of about 200 students. She gives you plenty of time to study for your exam and write the paper. I would take her again for all the other classes she is teaching.
Intro course so expect that everything is MICRO MANAGED. You have a 5-6 page paper that's due toward the end of the semester. get started on it ASAP. not sure why they allow the assistant to grade assignments, she is a tough grader. READ & FOLLOW the criteria to a T and you'l get a good grade. read the chapters & you will pass the weekly quizzes.
Professor Deb is the best professor I've ever met!! She really cares about all of her students. No matter what your sitaution is in life shes there to help and guide you. She's gives a ton of work but all her work is worth it. She puts her passion and pride into all your work. I would take her every semester if I had a chance too. I love her!!
I love professor Deb, she is so sweet and caring. Her lectures are interesting and relatable and she makes sure to get to know all of her students. She is also very helpful in finding a job/networking for all of her students by using past students.
Funny person. Can be annoying. Big paper to write with very strict guidelines. You need the textbook and you need to read it. Makes you read the chapter and take a quiz on it before she lectures about it.
This woman is hands down the best professor I've ever taken at UCF. Have her for communications my graduating semester, and I've never learned so much in a class at UCF before. She's so sweet, truly cares for her students and will do anything to help them succeed. She makes you work for your grade, but she does everything with a purpose. TAKE HER!
Professor Deb is easily the best Rosen professor. She is funny and amazing. She is a great contact for networking and you can talk to her about everything and more. Deb definitely knows what she is talking about and is very passionate about the industry. Highly recommend her for any class she teaches.
Professor Deb would honestly give you her kidney if you needed it, she cares that much. Chapter outlines are optional and extra credit, weekly quizzes based on the chapter readings, super easy. Only take attendance a few times.
Professor Deb is the BEST professor I have ever had at Rosen! She truly cares about her students and helps you become prepared for your dream job. There is a lot of work but it is worth it in the end. There are 2 group projects and 1 large case study. Be sure to following her grading criteria and directions carefully.
Professor Deb has a unique personality that may take some getting used to. Attendance is mandatory (you can miss 3 classes without penalty) but 75% of the time she doesn't even check. One big career research paper that's a pain but it does have a purpose. Super easy 6-question weekly quizzes on textbook chapters. You definitely need the book!
Loves her students and she wants to get every single one a job! you have a weekly chapter reading quiz (MUST HAVE TEXTBOOK) but if you do an outline, she averages the quiz with a 100%. I found the tests a little difficult sometimes. My only negative comment is her webcourses is very unorganized which can cause confusion if you don't attend class.
Honestly the layout of the class was easy to understand and she brings in some very interesting people from the industry as guest speakers. She likes to talk a lot about herself and really love food and beverage. If you are the type that likes to show up late to class and not do anything, don't take her. Quizzes every week in class are kinda hard.
Literally one of the most unclear, unprofessional, and unorganized professors ive ever taken. She tells one class one thing about a project and will tell our class something completely different. She contradicts herself when giving instructions then acts as if you should know exactly what she meant.
I absolutely LOVED professor Deb. She was a really great start to the hospitality program for me. I'm am living on main campus but did not mind commuting to the Rosen campus to take intro with her. She really made me excited about the hospitality industry. She is clearly very passionate about the industry and clearly loves her students.
professor deb is one of the best teachers i've ever had. i've never met a teacher that cares more about her students. her lectures are always entertaining, and you have a quiz on the reading about once a week. the only big project is the research paper, and she is very, very clear on what her expectations are. love her so much!!
Professor Deb is amazing! She truly cares about the students (more so than I've ever seen in any other professor) and is passionate about the industry with tons of knowledge and experience. That being said, if you do take her, she is very unorganized. Be prepared to check Webcourses often and make sure your grades and due dates are accurate.
This was the best intro class I could have taken. Professor Deb is so caring, excited about the material, and easy to work with on grades. Tests are easy, not cumulative. The only big project is a career research plan which is done over the entire semester. She helps you with it along the way. 10/10 recommend.
Partner research paper, optional outline for each chapter and a short quiz in class. Reading is essential to passing. Professor Debs is hilarious and always keeps you interested but is not very organized so due dates can be very confusing.
Super easy. If you don't get an A, it's 99% probably on you. Just be sure to do your chapter outlines, and make them lengthy (like at least a note a paragraph).
She's a charismatic, hilarious lady and she truly cares about her students. Her grading criteria can be a little bit wishy-washy sometimes, but if you ask her a question she'll answer it and make things easier to understand. Lots of quizzes and writing notes on the chapters is a must.
This woman is the most kind, caring , and most genuine professors I have ever had the pleasure of taking a class with. She is always there to help and her lectures are always so lively. I would recommend this beautiful soul to anyone! Please take her class, she is the best! I look forward to taking more of her courses in the future! :)
If you are looking for a professsor that truly cares about her students then look no further. She makes you work hard, but it prepares you for the real world and she knows the resources to get you there. She leaves a lasting impression and you will miss her when you graduate. She has truly shaped me into the professional I am today. Love Prof Deb!
Horribly disorganized, constantly changes due dates, unclear directions and guidelines for every assignment. Granted they are all fairly easy, she assigns an insane amount of work. Rather than funny and kind, I found her to be very condescending. If you have a job, other classes or just anything else going on in your life, take someone else.
While Professor Deb may have a likable personality, she is not a very good teacher. Instead of teaching us the material, she talks about her ex husband's restaurant and other meaningless stories that have nothing to do with the lesson. Don't get me wrong, it's hard to get anything less than an A, but you pretty much learn on your own.
She is really great. Just bc she is off topic at times doesn't mean anything. She is smart, experienced, caring and clear enough about what is expected. If you have lived a little bit you would know that people with her personality and background are just like how she is. It's fun, I think. And she is caring and kind. Take her! I will again!
Professor Deb is an incredible professor. She goes above and beyond to make sure her students are succeeding. While you have to read a chapter and do an outline every week, her lectures are full of life and laughs. She has been a mentor to me and has really helped me get experience and connections with people in the industry. 100% would recommend.
Although Professor Deb is very "caring " towards students, she is all over the place with everything else. Her entire course was not organized, she was constantly changing due dates, posting "past due" items and constantly adding new assignments that you weren't expecting. If you want to learn & are very structured then STEER CLEAR!!!
Top 3 best professors at Rosen in all my undergrad time here. She is truly an inspirational and caring professor, who truly identifies and cares about each individual person. A real gym in the college world.
While she is a wonderful and kind professor who seems to care thoroughly about her students, her lack of organization is slightly overwhelming. Due dates are constantly changing in a not beneficial way and her grading rubrics and instructions made absolutely no sense. Study straight from the powerpoints for exams.
Wort professor I had so far at Rosen. The course material was super easy to learn, yet she makes it really hard to teach. Her assignments are unclear and the course was incredible disorganize. She cares for her students, don't get me wrong. 1 Quiz per chapter, 3 Exams, and random amount of homework (was suppose to be just 1 in the entire course).
She is kind and if you talk to her, flexible. It is true that her course is all over the place, and she can sometimes assign you homework without telling you, and make it due the same night it was publish. Her test are heavily from the book, literally asks you anything from it. 3 exams, 1 quiz per chapter, 1 career paper, and great amount of HW.
I took Professor Deb for HFT 1000 and I'm taking her again for HFT 3540 right now. What others have said about her being disorganized are not wrong; her webcourses can be scattered and she assigns a lot of homework. HOWEVER, she truly does care about her students and will help you if you ask. She'll make you work for an A but it is possible.
I took Professor Deb for intro, and I couldn't be more thankful I did. This class was a little challenging but was so worth to take, you will truly learn about the entire industry. Prof. Deb is so funny and full of life, she also cares about every single one of her students and will help you with anything (she has thousands of connections)!
Professor Deb is my favorite teacher. She can gives a lot of homework but she is always ready to give more time to do it if the course load is too heavy. She is always ready to help and she is truly passionate about teaching. She looks up materials and makes the classes really enjoyable. I loved taking her classes. She is the best!
She's amazing. I had her for the intro to hospitality and she made my first semester at UCF so amazing. She wants her students to pass and know the information. She held office hours and invited me to study with her and a few other students were struggling. She also gave me so many opportunities to network and volunteer within the industry.
Professor was nice as a person, but kind of all over the place sometimes. However, it was very clear she has a huge passion for what she is teaching. Do readings/make an outline, study for exams, and don't get behind on other assignments and you'll do fine!
Professor Deb is a very unorganized professor and not a good online professor. Her work is great and will help prepare you for your professional career but she is very picky about the assignments. Her grading is very inconsistent and will say your work is great one minute then tear it completely apart. You will need the textbook! Must work hard!
Professor Weissberg, was actually not what i expected. We had to do online meetings every week and her lectures were extremely long for no reason in the middle of a pandemic. Very unorganized, shes a knit picker, nothing ever satisfied her when you turn in your papers. She says she likes it and then feeds you more negative comments right after
Do not take this professor. My worst experience at UCF thus far, she pretends to care and then disrespects her students by requiring attendance for an online class and grading extremely harsh. Most unreasonable professor I've ever had. Save your grade!! I had a 4.0 GPA before this class! Get out while you can.
I found Professor Deb to be condescending and disorganized. Her grading reqs were unclear and constantly changing even on the research paper which was worth 20% of your grade. No intro class should have a 15+ page paper with strict grading in 6 weeks. She said herself if you have another class or job you should take another professor. Never. Again.
Professor Deb is awful. I would NEVER suggest her to anyone or ever take her again. She's talks down at her students and has extreme inconsistency in grading. She requires mandatory class online during the middle of the pandemic and its mid-day for two hours. She told us that if we had a job or were busy during class, we should just drop. AWFUL.
Horrible professor. 0/10. A 1000 level class should not be this difficult because the professor doesn't grade consistently. I've never had so much issue trying to talk with a professor. I've never found it so hard to share my opinion or ask more questions. Ive also never been asked my opinion and been told it was wrong because "I don't like that"
Professor Deb is my favorite professor I have ever taken. She is one of the few professors who truly cares about her students. Her class is hard but all the work is worth it. It got me hired by my dream company after the first interview. She kicks your butt then celebrates with you. Truly a beautiful human.
Professor Deb is a nice person and the lectures are fine. It's everything else. Her assignments often make zero sense and have unclear rules. She had us do a 75 minute presentation. 75 minutes. And just never explained what we were supposed to do and never answered my group's questions. The tests had mistakes and confusing questions. Overall, bad.
Professor Deb definitely cares about her students. She is extremely inconsistent assignments will pop up out of nowhere. The grading scale is unfair. A 10 question quiz is worth the same amount as our final project. Assignments are not clear, very confusing. Not a fan, would not recommend taking any of her courses.
Professor deb is extremely unorganized. The way things are weighted are awful a quiz is weighted more than our final group project. Took me over a month to do my portion in the group project received a hundred on the assignment and grade only went up .4 I was very mad. She is a very nice professor but should not be rated this high at all.
Down to earth person, but such a bad online professor. Only take her in-person. Disorganized & unclear requirements for almost all her assignments. Good luck trying to text her because her responses almost never make sense. Proctored final, 75 min grp presentation, and so many assignments. She would make multiple assignments and have them due asap.
Do not let the positive ratings food you! Think back to some of your craziest teachers in middle school - in her class it's the exact same vibe. Completely disorganized class, no clear instructions for assignments and no rubrics. Your grade will be determined on whether she likes you so get on her good side. She can't handle being a professor!
Professor deb is extremely unorganized. She would add assignments out of nowhere. None of them on the syllabus. A group presentation that took over a month to finish that we not only had to present (75 mins) but have a 3-hour rehearsal outside of class. Yelled at my group the whole time. She does not give feedback. Dont let the high rating fool you
Professor Deb is a great person to know. She will do everything she can to get you where you want to be. Yes, her classes are difficult and she makes you work for an A, but if you show her that you care about this information, she will keep you in mind for all opportunities. Big group project and hard final. Other than that, not an impossible class
I love her so much, her personality makes you enjoy her class so much! There is a small quiz due every week and zoom attendance is required. Her exams were a lil hard for me and I needed to study the textbook a lot. There is a big group project but it's not too hard. I recommend her, she's honestly so caring and genuine
Quizzes due every week at before class instead of 11:59pm, they are very specific from the textbooks tiniest details or stuff she writes and they are timed 5 minutes for 5 questions. Online lectures are long n boring, she expects you to always have camera on and will call u out. Exams use proctor hub and are heavily based on textbook and lecture.
Professor Deb is amazing! She cares about all her students and is respected! She will help you when you are struggling, answer all questions, and help you find job opportunities! The class is just reading the textbook, weekly quizzes, and a few exams! If you study hard everyday you should be fine! Take her if you like to learn, I learned a lot!
Professor Deb is fantastic for this intro class. She is so passionate about the subject and really cares about her students. Participation was a must and so was the textbook. Some effort is required to do well but if you do all of the assignments, including the extras, it's not a difficult class to pass.
Professor Deb is great, with only a few minor flaws here and there. Overall, she cares more about her students than any other professor I have taken so far, even to the point that she gives the class her personal phone number in case they have any questions. My only complaint is the group project, which she provides mixed instructions on sometimes.
If theres one professor to change your life, its Professor Deb. She cares about her students success in classes and work more than anyone Ive ever taken. You learn a lot and she gives lots of information but helps you along the way. Huge partnered research paper and culture project. I miss this class already :(
Professor Deb is the most inspirational professor UCF has. She truly cares about her students and this industry. Yes, there is a lot of work, but this course is for your personal benefit. She also makes her classroom a safe space for all students. I have never felt judged by her or the other students. She just radiates positive energy!
Please do not let the bad reviews fool you. She is the most kind and caring professor I have ever met. You do have to work for your grade but with the amount of feedback and help she gives you, the work is not hard to do. I wish I put in more effort to get an A, cause it genuinely is easy. Quizzes are based on readings but extra credit is given!
I thoroughly enjoyed having Professor Deb as an instructor. She is very caring, provides many network and job opportunities, gives encouraging feedback on assignments, and is quick to respond to messages. Expect to read 2 chapters a week with quizzes before the module unlocks. Stay on pace, watch the lectures, and do the practice exam for an A.
Professor Deb is the best professor I have ever had. Her lectures are captivating, her knowledge and experience are unmatched, and her dedication to the success of her students can not be questioned. She will know your name by day two, and if you walk out of that class unemployed then there is something wrong. TAKE HER CLASS!
I took Professor Deb for HFT1000; attendance was mandatory besides an allowance of 4 or 5 missed classes, textbook is required. Professor Deb is so caring and prioritizes her students. She brings in awesome guest speakers to co-teach lessons and her lectures are engaging and fun. Sometimes a tough grader but would suggest her!
Professor Deb makes her lectures very engaging, fun, and inspiring. She brought in multiple speakers to talk about different types of jobs. She constantly mentioned to us how she can recommend us for any type of job in the hospitality industry (which I found amazing, she has so many connections). She is caring and very understanding.
Professor Deb loves her job and cares deeply about her students. However, this class can be extremely stressful and a lot of work. She can be unclear at times and is an extremely tough grader which can be frustrating at times but she does this because she wants you to succeed. I recommend taking her class but just know it will be a LOT of work.
This is a professor who is a very special breed she cares for each one of her students. She even responded to me on the weekends and one of the best things ever is she understands each student is different and will do whatever she can to truly help you make the best of this course.
I have never had a professor that cares more for her students than Professor Deb. While there is a lot of work in this class, all of it helps to prepare you for networking/interviewing. She is also willing to help you with any assignment and gives great feedback. I would highly recommend taking her for hospitality communications it is a great class
Not a bad class for students who have a raw resume/don't have a job since she helps with that a lot. 2 big projects throughout the semester, a presentation, and an interview practice day. Class material is common sense. She is very specific in grading. Even though her personality is sweet, she can seem a little too much for quiet/reserved people.
Professor Deb is the single greatest, most loved, and well-respected professor at Rosen. Her class is incredibly easy if you put effort into it, her lectures are great because she as both a professor and person are amazing, incredibly sweet, and she cares deeply about every student. DO WHATEVER YOU CAN TO TAKE HER CLASS YOU CAN'T REGRET IT.
Professor Deb embodies everything you would want from a professor. This course sets the foundation for your career as your taught interview skills, professional insights, top-tier resume, and many more useful skills. I am indebted to her for the rest of my life for being an incredible mentor who has helped navigate through all the uncertainty.
During my four years at UCF, I have never met a more caring and personable professor than Professor Deb. Her resume and cover letter workshops helped me secure my dream internship. She is the best!!
Professor Deb is a beacon in the hospitality department. This class was a lot of fun and very informative. She is very reachable outside of class and very caring about her students, even online! If you have a chance, take a class from her.
Professor Deb is an amazing instructor who truly cares about her students. Her lectures are engaging and she provides plenty of networking/job opportunities. Combining the textbook, lectures, and using tools like unstuckstudy for study prep made this class a breeze. Highly recommend!
she's super sweet but an incredibly rough grader. weekly readings with quizzes where the quiz questions are completely unrelated to the reading. has specific criteria she will not tell you about. if you know what sector you want to work in, the class is incredibly boring. partner project research paper. she's sweet, just not for me i suppose.
Such a fun and engaging course. As long as you show up to class and respect Prof. Deb's time, you will be very successful. She is so passionate about the success of her students and the topics introduced, and really makes the class feel like a family.
She's an amazing professor, she really loves her students and cares. There is extra credit every week, only three exams, and one big research paper. Besides that, she's an easy professor who definitely takes her
Choose her in-person class! Great guest speakers/networking opportunities. Critical grader-every assignment she suggests revisions. Understands if you have personal/medical issues & need extra time for assignments. Responds to emails/texts. Two extra expenses: business cards & food/decor for final group cultural presentation. Loves her job&students
very easy class! it's a lot of quizzes and exams but there's lots of opportunities for extra credit if needed
One of the sweetest, and least judgmental souls you'll ever meet. Extremely passionate about her teachings. You'll learn all the basics in this class, from every hospitality industry. Truly made the bus from main to Rosen campus 2x a week worth it. Has insane connections. Coursework is light, research paper is heavy. Best class. LOVE U PROF DEB!
Professor Deb was great. Definitely a tougher class than I expected; there is a lot of work in this class, and she can be a bit of a tough grader at times, but she gives really good feedback on every assignment. There are weekly assignments and a final paper to evaluate a company based on your own research. I would definitely take her again.
There is a TON of assignments due every week, at least 5 due a week. And she will take points off of every assignment for any little thing. It is IMPOSSIBLE to receive full credit for anything. Also she's very old school and will call you out in front of the whole class if you look at your cell phone. Take this class with literally anyone else.
This class, while challenging, was very valuable. Professor Deb is great with making connections with her students and she genuinely cares about each person in her class. She makes an effort to connect you with employers and is a great contact to have in the industry. The class has a lot of assignments but is worth it in the end.
This was a good class with the sweetest teacher. The only thing I did not were the tests. There are no study guides and she words them weirdly causing a lot of people to stumble on them. As well as the practive material she lets us have for the tests rarely is even on them.
Probably one of the reasons I didn't drop out this semester. So sweet and kind! You can tell she genuinely cares about all of her students. I agree with some students that her feedback is sometimes vague, but as long as you follow the original instructions of the assignments, you'll have no trouble at all.
Prof. Deb's class is a great choice for a first semester Rosen student. She truly cares about all her students & will try to help you in any way she can. She brings in a LOT of guest speakers to expand your contacts & knowledge in every field. There's 3 exams (proctored) & a partner project you work on throughout the semester - not bad!!
Most college professors see students as numbers but Professor Deb truly cares about her students. She is a great person to know in the industry and brings in several great guests to speak in class. Pretty easy class, end of the year project was a lot but she gives a lot of time to complete it. Tests are online on lockdown w webcam. Easy assignments
