D.white is the best prof. ever, she make this course so much fun, she is readilly avialiable to help and make it easy and crystal clear.

She is an amazing professor and is wonderful at teaching. I love the fact that she doesn't give lecture notes so it forces you to go to the class. Shes wonderful

You can tell that she loves what she does. She is such a genuine person, and probably the most down to earth prof at Trent (and there are many ones like this but Deb takes the cake). I strongly recommend taking any class taught by her. I wish she taught more classes at Trent.

Yes, she can be a tough marker and there is some heavy reading from the texts. Besides, her lectures clarify everything from the texts and if there are any discrepancies, she goes to great lengths to clarify it. She is very accessible so if you don't understand anything, email her and she will go to lengths to help you over email or in person.

She is a bit of a tough marker but this is university after all. She expects you to do the readings and ask for help when you need it. Getting help isn't hard with her, because she responds to emails quickly and loves talking to her students. She really makes an effort. She is such an amazing woman and professor

Deborah was a great teacher, she is a very kind soul. Just beware, your grade is dependent on 3 things in Soci 1001. So if want to get a good grade, make sure you do your assignments (an essay)and study for the midterm/exam.

She is very caring and tries to make class fun by always showing funny cartoons. She also would make jokes and call out those that would come to class to hand in the mini-essay and not stay for the lecture. Overall, she is a great professor and I would take another Sociology course just to have her again.

Not a lot of things to be graded on, so make sure to take time to study for exams and do the essay. very caring woman who genuinely wants to see students excel. doesnt use powerpoint so make sure you come to lecture and listen to everything she says for your own notes.

GO TO LECTURE! A lot of what she talks about isn't in the text and the exam and midterm are 50/50 split on where the questions come from. When she's teaching, write down what she's saying instead of just copying her slides or you won't do well. Very easy course if you just show up and read the short chapters. 10/10 love Deb!

Deborah is amazing!! She repeats important things 2-3 times so you can write it down. Lecture is engaging, so GO!! Slideshows are never enough, so take notes during lecture. No recording supplied. Class was 3 hours, she uses 2. No seminars, lots of reading. Only graded on 3 things so STUDY. Lots to memorize, but she supports you 100%!!!!

Prof White is one of my favourite profs so far, her lectures are short and engaging, she gives breaks and doesn't keep you for the full 3 hour lecture block. My one piece of advice is to make sure you show up to the lectures as she goes more in depth than the jot notes that are on her lecture slides. She is also very understanding!

super sweet lady, she cares about her students. pay attention in lectures things she says will be on tests. as long and you show up, do your reading and try you will succeed in her class. she answers her emails super fast too.

She responded to emails very quickly! For the lectures, at the start of the semester all the slides were posted, but as the class went on less and less was written on the slides, and more was verbal, so attendance is suggested. The lectures were very short (3 hour timeslot but always under 1.5 hours)

Amazing prof. Incredibly knowledgeable about sociology, but also just a great person. Lectures are short and sweet, not over-complicated like sociology can be. My only gripe is that she is not the one who marks the essays for this class.

She is so infatuated with the topics that we learn, she is understanding to students with accommodations, and she always repeats certain things as a reminder of their importance.

Deborah is an amazing first-year professor. Her lectures are interesting and worth attending. She actually seemed to care about her students and would not force us to stay for a full three-hour lecture. I 100% recommend taking a sociology course taught by her!

Deborah makes lectures super simple, easy to understand, funny and intriguing. The only bad thing was this course was only based on 3 things: A midterm, 1 essay, and a final exam, so everything was worth a high percentage.

10/10 very funny, tells you exactly what you need to know before the exam and midterm. No surprises, only thing is that you're graded on a midterm, paper, and exam. So not much room for error. Overall I wish I could've had her for my other soci classes.

Best Prof I've had in 6 years of post secondary, I wish she could teach me for all of my courses. Only graded on a paper, midterm and exam though so you kind of have to do well on everything if you want a good mark. She makes 'boring' content super engaging, and her exams are very fair- there's no surprises.

Professor White had amazing lectures and kept the students very engaged even though it was a huge class, the midterm and exam were very well explained she lays out the whole test for you. Now the midterm essay is graded by a t.a. keep that in mind.

I love Debbie to my core. She was the most amazing first year Professor, and I stand by that. The lectures were never more than 2 hours long, some only for 50 minutes. She does provide extra information outside of the slides, so attendance is appreciated. She also provides what will and won't be on the midterm/exams during lectures.

Best professor I had all year, she's clearly passionate about what she teaches and makes clear to students what's going to be on the exam, so if you study and understand the concepts it's super easy. Very understanding and encouraging to her class. Only a midterm, mini-essay, and final exam. Can't recommend her enough.

I loved Deborah so much, definitely one of my favourite professors!! Her lectures were nice and short and she paused so we could catch up on notes. We only had one assignment besides the exam and midterm, and the grading was very reasonable. I would say that attending classes is very beneficial as she says a lot more than what is on the slides.

Debbie is a literal queen! She is literally just a big ball of sunshine, and will quite literally treat you like you are a human not a random number. We only had a few assignments and tests and they were easy to complete. I honestly wish Debbie was my mother she is that awesome. She is the answer to fighting to fighting capitalism.

I loved all of Deborah's lectures as they were easy to follow. Only graded on 3 things, which was nice. Deborah made me really enjoy my first sociology class at Trent. I highly recommend the class and professor.

Take this class, even if you don't need it for your degree. Prof. White's lectures are captivating and she uses modern day, clear examples to illustrate concepts. Only one assignment, a midterm, and the exam. The textbook helps a lot, and it's online so you can use it as an audiobook. I would die for her.

She was the sweetest prof I ever had. Really cared about the students. The only issue I had is that your grade comes from only 3 things which were exams and an essay. I'm not a good test taker and even when I felt really good about the exams, I got a lower grade than expected. She's a great prof, just wish there were more ways to earn marks.

I love Deb with all my heart! She is an amazing professor and knows her stuff. If you are going to take her classes you cannot slack off. Read the readings and attend the classes. Otherwise you will not do very well. We had one paper, midterm, final and participation. So everything counts!

Honestly great prof and person in general. She doesn't have a lot on her slides so come to class ready to type/write down the stuff she says. She gives relatively thorough exam overview before both the midterm and the final. She is kinda funny and usually ends class 30min-1hour early if you show up, pay attention and use text youll be good

Textbook readings are so optional bcs queen debroah goes over the whole exam before you take it. I love her so much omg. She goes over everything you need to know so clearly and you can tell she ACTUALLY CARES❤️ its an easy elective and i loved this class and lectures are very short like dont be scared by 3 hours it only goes for like 1 and 1/2

Dr. White is excellent in engaging the class while encouraging critical thinking with an optimistic and enthusiastic attitude. Her lecture content and delivery is amazing and she is always supportive. I left the course with a broader perspective and greater sense of curiosity. One of the best experiences I had as a natural science student.

Very good lecturer but speaks very fast so i record lecture audio as lectures are not recorded. Ends every sentence with "M'kay" but is all around a great prof and i would class a class from her again.

Prof White is incredible!! Her class is a good introduction to sociology, even if you aren't a sociology major (I'm business). Her lectures are easy to understand and actually engaging, not reading off the slides. She also never uses the full 3 hours of her lecture time, usually around 1.5 hours. Lectures are heavy but never went the full 3 hours. Some of the TA's were hard markers but Deborah is amazing and makes everything easy to understand. She gives full review for midterm and exam. You can get away without doing any readings just know a summary for the exams. Love her coolest prof ever and very understanding.

Deborah is the only reason I have faith in professors at Trent. Lectures are mandatory but they only go for 2hrs rather than the scheduled 3. Anything that was important would be said multiple times to make sure everyone got it. Any class she taught I would take, regardless of the subject.
