She's one of the coolest teachers on campus.

She's a pretty good teacher, but never have her as your first class, cuz she is always late and cancels class a lot. The good thing is that you right like no essay's and your term paper only has to be 4 pages!
A little too easy and boring, but if you want an easy A, here you go. She's fun and a little quirky.
prof.demattio is great, she goes out of her way to help students to get them to understand whether it's in class or one on one.
i took her for a summer course. She was so nice and friendly. The class is very simple and easy to understand.
Prof D. is very good teaching, helpful, and knows how to teach. She makes you a better writer and pushes you. And she's nice eye candy in an artsy kind of way, but I like that.
She is always late, always! Often doesn't show up for class. Unorganized. Inconsiderate. A crazy ****, but she is an easy A.
she was all over the place & told our class we werent good enough to go on to a 4 year school. she took her personal problems out on her students & was just unhappy. she just wasnt a good teacher & favors certain students. i wouldnt take her again...ever

Had her for summer, when she wasnt causally missing classes she was always late...sometimes upto an hour. She didnt bother to hand any paperwork back untill the last day so we didnt know where we stood in her class.
Was not in her class, but spoke with her often durring a visiting summer at CCM. I am a full-time student in a 4-year U, studying ENGL with Creative Writing concentration and HS Teacher Cert, History (2nd Major), and a minor in Geology. I have dealt with manay profs. THIS IS ONE OF THE GOOD ONES!
one of the worst prof.s i have ever had very unorganized, never on time,(missed class one time because it was raining)never gives back papers till the end of the semester so u dont know where u stand with ur grades.

I currently have her for Comp II and she is really interesting and very helpful. I love her!!!
Plays favorites. get on her good side from the getgo and youll be ok. if she doesnt like you youll know, trust me. dont talk in class or she'll bite your head off. she is ALWAYS late to class. sometimes she wouldnt show up for a good 30 min. i found it kind of hard to stay awake in her class. shes pretty easy, just as long as you read the material.
if you take her class, take it for spring .. she sees snow, you go home!

She was always late for class usally about 15-20 mins, very disorganized, would tell stories while students were tring to do a inclass paper. Plays Favorites and you will know if your a favorite. Other than that she was helpful only while in class
She is one of the most caring and down to earth teachers I have ever met.
This is the WORST teacher i've ever had. She's very nice but half her classes were cancelled and when she was there she was 20 minutes late everyday. when she starts talking.. shes scattered all over the place. you can't understand a word she says. her tests are soo hard for someone who taught nothing at all.
Very nice woman, but not the best teacher. She's very scatterbrained. She never gave us a syllabus, and she doesn't give you back tests and quizzes for a long time, so you never really know how you're doing grade-wise.

I really enjoyed Prof. D's class. She brought more to the table then just the stories in the text book. The fist paper I did for her class I got a low grade - then I improved after paying more attention. She is a good teacher - join in a conversation, you will really learn something.
Demattio Rocks. English is my second language, and she was just "amazingly" helpfull.
Had Deb for multiple classes- she is an easy grader. Very, VERY nice lady who will do whatever she can to help you. Chronicly late but doesn't miss too many classes. Never expect her to be there until 10-20 minutes after the class starts. Genuinely wants her students to learn, and has great insight... when she's around long enough to impart it.
BEST TEACHER AT CCM! She might be late sometimes, but she really does care about her students. Take her if you have trouble going to English classes because you will deff. want to go to hers.
Had her for The Short Story. She is an awesome teacher, and she truly cares about her students and the material itself.

i love this lady she is so funny and def out there. she is hardly ever on time and doesnt care if u come in late. she never gives back and my class has never gotten a syallbus she puts on a movie on and leaves the room she can flip out thou so beware overall i cant wait to take demattio again she is really great and tries to get the class involved

I was very disappointed with this professor. Although she is nice and an easy grader, she is not a good instructor. Highly disorganized, scatterbrained, never comes to/starts class on time. She was always walking in and out of the room during class because she always forgot the textbook, handouts, etc. I did not learn at all- AVOID.
DeMattio is the easiest English professor I have had so far. She will always come in 5 or 10 mins late to class. In addition, she will leave again to get a diet coke (or is it pepsi?). She has high ambitions for the semester but she fails to comply...meaning out of all the things listed on the syllabus, you will probably only accomplish 1/5 of it.

She give out a lot of grades between tests, essays, and quizzes which is good. If she is having a bad day and you ask her to repeat a question, she will snap at you. She is always late for class and wastes a lot of class time. We took a 10 mintue break one time and she didn't come back for 25 minutes.
She is usually in a bad mood. She is still sweet though but does take it out on students. She is disorganized and does not hand things back right away. She is not a hard grader but it is not an easy A. Just pay attention. And yes she is late.
I really didn't like her class. Always late. Didn't learn anything. Very unorganized. The stuff we were learning was so easy so i got easily distracted. Gives a lot of essays in class. Really no homework. Try to not take her class if you can.

Eh she's easy. She shows up to class late by 10 minutes almost everyday. All I did was take notes. The two major tests we got were pretty easy. They were just fill in the blank and multiple choice(from sparknotes). The only problem I had with her was she got angry when you asked her a question and she gave every assignment last minute. Over all ok
Great professor. Always looking to help student's. Yes, a little late to class but she makes sure she gets all the stuff she needs to teach in. I deff recommend her and would love to take her for something else !

Super nice Professor, but she's not focused or clear. You won't learn much, but her exams and quizzes are easy. She gives review sheets, just study those. If you want an easy A then take her, but if you want to learn anything...go with someone else.
Likes to go on unrelated tangents but they are funny & entertaining. She means well but sometimes her instructions come across as unclear. She's an easy professor and makes writing the term really easy because she breaks it down very simply. Some days she doesn't show up, she's usually late and takes breaks often. Take her if you want to slack off.
She genuinely cares about you understanding the material and will go out of her way to make sure you get it. I cant say much more than that, she is a dear dear woman that is a gem in that college.
Incredibly nice but if you make her angry apparently she's crazy. Didn't give us the syllabus until week 7 of class. Very unorganized but quizzes are easy if you know the plot of stories. It's obvious which students she likes and if she likes you, you're golden. Also strangely obsessed with David Lynch. She's not bad but needs more organization
Probably my favorite professor at CCM, she's sweet, smart, and hilarious. The work isn't too bad but occasionally she'll assign a long reading or take home quiz. Always gives more time to do assignments if there is confusion. Very relaxed and flexible. Definitely take one of her classes if you like literature!
She is the best teacher ever. I took her for basic skills and Comp 2. Passed both classes with A's. She is awesome I love her. She is a little strange and very disorganized but she means wells and wants the best for you and wants you to really learn the material. I will definitely recommend her to everyone that wants an easy A.
She is a "sweet" woman until you ask her a question about anything then the switch goes off and becomes super mean and rude. She is very unorganized. We had multiple assignments, essays, quizzes and test and we NEVER got back any of our grades! At the end of the semester she had to change many grades. She'll give you a grade you don't even deserve.
We didn't get any grades back until the last two weeks of class, which is a shame because the class could have been really good. She chose good readings for the class and the tests and quizzes were relevant. If you aren't to concerned about your grade I would take this class but if you are I wouldn't recommend it.
Very disorganized. Didn't receive any grades back until the very end of the semester, and didn't even receive a syllabus until about November. If that doesn't matter to you, take her class.
professor demattio is amazing I absolutely love her and would love to take her again. and she is extremely understanding with students that have disabilities and extremely accomudating.
Took Professor Demattio for a pre-req english class last summer and absolutely loved her so I took her for comp 2 this past semester. Yes, she is a disorganized professor but makes sure that all students are on the same page and understand what is going on. She is very accomodating if you need extra time on an assignment. Truly cares!!
Professor Demattio gave me the confidence to learn. She made English seem very important to me and she is very fun and friendly and very knowledgable.
All round a great person, but when it comes to teaching she's on the weaker side. I pretty much had to teach my self the material. She hops all over the place and gets off topic a lot. She's good with meeting after class or before. expect there to be 15 or 20 minutes of free time before class since she is usually late every day.

She would skip class and then come and talk about her own personal life. Pop quizzes were her favorite even though we didnt actually learn anything in class. Shes sweet but she is unorganized and would loose papers. Never responded to emails. She would talk about other students grades in front of class. I would never take her class again.
She is without question one of the sweetest people I have ever met. That being said, you still need to show up. She is very disorganized. She was 10 minutes late everyday because she was helping students in her previous class. I will say that I learned absolutely nothing. If you want an easy A take her class, if you want an education don't.

Took Professor DeMattio for English Comp I in the Fall of 2018. She was an AMAZING professor. Professor DeMattio goes above and beyond for her students. One of the most passionate teachers I've ever had. Professor DeMattio truly loves what she does and it shows. I would DEFINITELY take her again and HIGHLY RECOMMEND her to others.
She is a sweet person, but she is extremely disorganized and goes over the same material every single class. She is very unclear with everything she does or says, and when confronted about any confusion, she responds disrespectfully. I frankly did not learn anything the entire semester. Don't take her class if you want to actually learn something.
Had her for online classes. she posts pretty much once a month. she hasnt graded anything and the semester has a week left. Keep in mind we only did 3 assignments the whole semester.
A very sweet woman however, she's extremely disorganized and doesn't make any effort to educate her students. She assigned some 10 pages of reading, and only 3 pages of writing, for the entire semester. Grades weren't posted until semester's end, and no feedback was given for assignments. I felt the course was an utter waste of time and money.
I had her for the second time. She is sweet, fun and caring. It's too bad online classes take away a lot of personal interaction you can have with a professor. If you don't know her before I guess it's hard to get to know her this time around.
I took an online class with Prof. Demattio and it was probably one of the strangest classes I have ever taken. There was little to no direction given. An email per month. I think I did three assignments the whole semester. Despite this she seems like a very nice and caring person and seemed to care for the students. Very odd overall.
Professor DeMattio was probably my most accommodating Professor during online classes. She's so understanding if you need extra time and I didn't feel any intense pressure from this class in any area from papers to homework etc. Grade's aren't posted until the end of the semester but she's easy to get in touch with if you're concerned.
Professor De Mattio is AMAZING, not only is she super passionate about what she teaches, she cares so, so much for her students, and wants them all do pass. She cares about your work for her class, but also cares about your overall well being, and sets you up for success. She is very entertaining, and always has a story for an example. Take her!!!!
Extremely disrespectful. Had strep so couldn't come to class-asked for my medical records, missed a test also due to it and refused to allow me to make it up. Touches your belongings. doesn't check emails. I had a doctors appointment needed to leave class early never checked her email and when i got up to leave she screamed at me. cancels class
She is very rude and dosent care about her students outside lives. I didnt have a car for a week cause of a accident and procceds to not let me retake the test, and or talk about it. She talks about the students behind your back and touches your personal belongings.
Easy class with not many essays and quizzes. You do not have to read a whole book, just passages from the Bedford reader. Unfortunately, she does not post grades to Blackboard, so you must ask her for your grade. She seems very nice but gets mad at the most random things
She can be nice but gets really mad out of nowhere and no one in the class ever understands why. She also gets insulted if you yawn in class, she'll call you out and ask if she's boring you. Don't take her class.
When I tell you this has to be one of the worst professors thus far. She will make fun of students in front of their faces and in front of the whole class. She'll come into class fine and then freak out for no reason, like a light switch. Attendance is very mandatory, even though she's always 20/25 minutes late to every class. Don't take her class
This class was a total waste. We went over the same material every class, got zero feedback, and grades weren't posted until weeks after the semester ended. She spent our class time talking about herself, making negative comments about students, and was always late. The class itself isn't hard because we do nothing. The difficult part is her!!!
She will push everything to the last minute, get stressed, and then take it out on her students. She's very rude when she is upset and says unnecessary things. She will act like your best friend one minute and yell at you the next. There's barely any work at all, though.
She is too old for this. Uses entire class time to rant about random things and has been going over the same topic for weeks over and over again. She is always late to class and cancels last minute. She is crazy and seem like she never has any clue what is going on. Learned nothing so far and would absolutely drop the class if I could. Beware.
Don't take her, she make bad comments of the students in the class. She doesn't teach, you don't even know your grade because you don't do anything through the semester, its just a waste of time, please take another class.
If you act with respect towards her she will act the same way towards you. She is rude only to students who are rude to her or disrespect her. Ms Demattio helped me a lot knowing english is not my first language and was very nice to me. I definitely have improved my writing.
Professor Debra Dematio is always late to class, and she has favorite students. Throughout the class, she will change subjects without warning and won't hesitate to be a hassle if you have an emergency. I do not recommend taking this professor's class if you don't want your overall college experience to be hell and learn nothing.
The Professor is competent at engaging the class. However, it can be difficult to follow along from time to time because the professor can veer off topic frequently. Professor DeMattio shows great empathy for her students as long as they follow along and stay on task.
She refuses to use the gradebook, so you will only know your grade at the end of the semester. Extremely disorganized, only received the syllabus after the 4th week of the course, and gave no feedback on the assignments. Made us pay for two textbooks that were never used. Waited until the last 2 weeks to suddenly assign all the assignments.

Professor DeMattio is an absolutely mean professor. She was not understanding or compassionate. She didn't give out the syllabus until halfway through the semester. She assigned assignments late in the semester. Did not give feedback on assignments in order to improve. Did not grade until the end of the semester. I don't recommend taking her class!
Should have done some research
The Professor tends to go off topic in class and will talk about you behind your back. She said she wanted to gag see of the students in class to and behind their faces. She also made me move on the other side of the class because OTHER people were talking and being loud and said she's gonna drag me down with them if I continue to sit next to them.

Completely unprofessional professor. Would go on political and religious tangents in the most disrespectful way possible. She had no hesitation in insulting students on their appearance and would even get in students' faces and nudge them. She's incredibly hot and cold, almost always late, and hardly ever prepared for class. She is a bully.
do not take her class. she is hot and cold and will talk badly about other students to you. she does not know how to teach and we have been learning the same thing since day 1. she will also announce your personal business infront of the class. she gave no assignments until the very end and is EASILY distracted by anything.
Do not take her class!!! At first she seems very kind but don't be fooled, I don't know how she still has a job, she is very disrespectful towards her own students, will often forget what she said during class and will then put the blame on you. She has talked badly about students in front of me and will literally degrade you in front of everybody.
