Excellent teacher. Dr. Blair possesses a great deal of knowledge on my subjects pertinent to Tourism, Hospitality, Sport, and Rec. Be sure to try to get her for 230;worth getting up at 840. Some say she is demanding and challenging...thats because they don't like 'a lot' of work. Her requirements are not overwhelming if you manage your time wisely
Dr. Blair is a demanding teacher, but in a good way. She forces you to do your best and is sincere in trying to make the best out of her students. Many students say she is hard and mean, but thats only if you are a slacker and dont strive to do well on your assignments. She will teach you a lot.
I just had Dr. Blair for THM 200. A lot of work was involved, but very manageable if you listen to her advice with organizing each task. I learned more from her than all of my teachers combined so far, she really knows what she is talking about, very professional and organized. I would much rather have her than the other teacher that teaches 200.
She expects a lot out of her students, but she's not unreasonable. Like everyone said, just manage your time wisely. She's very intelligent and you'll learn a lot.
Dr. Blair is a very interesting and intellegent woman. she really know what she is talking about especially for THM 230 if you are talking the class you definately need to take it with her. I also had her for THM 200 it is a lot of work and she doesn't kid around with due dates, take her class seriously and you will do well. She is great!
I love Dr. Blair! I just had Fall 2006. I walked into the class and thought "what am I getting myself into" but left the class with respect for this extremely kind intelligent woman. She doesnt take crap from you, but at the same time she is extremely reasonable and friendly. In all my years of college, I can honestly say this was my favorite class
She knows the business. However, expects us to know the syllabus like it's tattoed on our body. Lots of projects, but many are in groups. Class is only worth taking for the experience of planning and running events, shadowing an event planner and leadership lab days where we get to act like old people or children...
Make sure you schedule all your projects in advance or you will get bombarded with assingments after spring break. She is a very tough grader, if you're a minority, work extra hard because she expects more from you guys. Also work on the final group project A.S.A.P, because you do not want to be in the TECH Center at 3 in the morning.
Dr. Blair is a very hard and tough grader. But I guess she's that way for our benefit. I don't think that it was the most interesting class at all. We have four projects 2 group and 2 individual, and also there is no text books she posts all of her assignment reading online to print and their really, which is annoying. So, just to be clear she is n
Dr. Blair is tough and harsh grader. I particularly didn't like her based on the way she taught the the class not becasue of the work load or grading. 2 group and 2 individual projects. 2 exams. No textbooks all readings on blackboard
Tough teacher! Make sure you know the syallabus and when things are due, she will not remind you. Her tests are hard as ***,* study!!! Dont wait to schedule volunteer work or wait to do final project. Also, she is sneaking she'll give extra assignments when alot of people are out in the class and she'll make it worth points.
Professor Blair was definitely a no BS professor. She knows what she's talking about and is happy to teach her class. She comes in everyday with a smile. She is not intimidating, she's actually very friendly. She just expects you to do well. You really have to pay attention. Not an easy A but a fun class and a good hearted teacher who cares.
She was challenging but her mind is set on training professionals. You can't slack off and expect an A. Her exams were def. not hard if you paid attention & did the readings. This was probably the only class i left and felt like i actually learned something useful, both personal & professional. Best part, no textbooks!
Dont take her for a gened class!! The workload is very heavy and mostly done through blackboard ie wikipage and blog. Yet, she does not take the time to teach us how to use these tools and expects us to figure it out. Im sure she has never done one of these to being with. Also, never returns emails but expects you to respond to her ASAP.
Blair is a really good teacher and the class was actually a lot interesting then i thought it would be. You must go to class because she takes attendance everyday. Her tests are hard so def. read the articles she assigns and remember key points! The end of the year project is worth a lot and is easy points if you actually work and put time into it
Dr. Blair is actually very nice; although the first impressions are that she will be very tough, and she is. However, she is very accomodating and is genuwinely interested in the wellbeing of the students. Take notes but really study PP and one group of readings for each exam! I did really bad the first half and went from a D to a B by end of sem.
Most condescending, stuck up teacher I've ever had. Took a GenEd class, Dimensions of Diversity, and it was a joke. She treated the students like we were in high school. I would avoid at all costs.
Very smart and intense but what bothers most students is her way of talking "Down" to you.We do many group projects and every single person in each group feels the same way... Maybe just my class but she has two things she wants everyone to know, students are not prepared for the "Real World". and she has her Doctorate.."Let it Resonate"
This "professor" is horrible. "doctor" blair acts like she is Gods gift to the earth, and she is very condescending. If she was wrong about a statement, she would first try to re-write history before admitting she was wrong. Her class is annoying and she uses every cliche every invented. "food for thought"...she's terrible. Do not take her class!.

All of these posts describing her as condescending are completely accurate. Has a horrible cold attitude and is extremely stuck up. She definitely cannot admit when she is wrong. One of the worst teachers I have ever had.
Dr. Blair was a tough teacher and where I think college should be intense she was overly intense. I had her for Dimensions of Diversity, a gen ed class and I feel like I learned nothing except that everyone in the class is not ready for the real world - when many of the student in the class were older. I will never take a class taught by here again
I thought her class was extremely interesting. My entire class got involved in debates, and the majority of the time she stepped back and let the class do the talking. I loved her "strong independent woman" attitude and felt that she was very understanding and empathetic towards everyone's opinions. Probably my favorite professor I've had at Temple
She will teach you very useful tools to be successful within any business.
had her for Dimensions of Diversity. She gives a lot of work and not much time to do it. She is not very helpful outside of class, it takes her days, sometimes weeks to respond to your emails. I got a B+ in the class, so it was pretty easy butThe amount of work she gives for a gen ed class is ridiculous, I had more work in this class than any other
Great teacher but is very no nonsense! she takes deadlines seriously but if necessary will accomodate a student. very helpful and easy going though she may seem rigid. great experience and open to opinions other than her own. be sure to study for test! but overall good experience.
Ohh Debbie. Dr. Blair is the definition of tough love but she's awesome! There is a lot of out of class assignments but she will teach you some very important & eye opening information. Do the readings, watch the videos and participate & you'll be golden. Tests are HARD so study! Never hesitate to see her in office hours, she is very helpful!
Blair is a very good professor and really cares about the subject. I didn't do a single reading and barely watched the videos and i still got an A on both tests. She really isnt as hard as this site makes her out to be. Just do the projects which arent that bad and study for the tests and you'll be fine
Great Teacher, very fair, no nonense style of teaching but by far the best professor i've had to date. I got an A- test are tough take great notes and look at all videos.
Terrible. Demands volunteer hours. Although some students enjoy out of classroom activities this lady's actual class is a joke. If it was not required I would never take this useless class. On a partner project she had informed the other member of my team but not me that we were now working individually. Also not clear on due dates.
volunteer hours, heavy reading assignments, tough grader, demands too much. Of course I didn't enjoy the class but it was required...
Her tests are so hard. They are split up into 2 days, essay and short answer one day and multiple choice and short answer the second. You have to do 2 volunteer experiences which are annoying to scheduleget to. I hated the class.
Tests are next to impossible. Two days, one day is mostly short answer with a few multiple choice, the next day is an essay. You have to volunteer outside of class and do assignments based off the experiences. Huge group project. She sucks and expects way too much.
She is very nice and a good professor but if you are not good at taking tests, I wouldn't recommend this class. The tests are over the course of 2 days: essayshort answer and multiple choiceshort answer. You also have to do two types of volunteer work off campus and it's kind of annoying, but the class is interesting.
I wish Dr. Blair would understand that she is disrespecting other teachers at Temple. The amount of work she gives her students causes me to spend hours more time on her class and not as much on my classes. It's disrespectful to her colleagues for her to think her class is more important than theirs and I have to neglect my other classes for her.
Very understanding and nice teacher overall. If you do not do well with summer courses or 7-week courses, do not take this as a 7 week course. There are a lot of assignments due in a short period of time which comes with any 7-week course really. She's extremely understanding and helpful when you personally email her and never belittles students.
Hard grader, assigns homework that is due DURING Thanksgiving break, and isn't very clear. But, she helps you if you need it and is a fair teacher overall in the sense that everyone gets a chance to do well.
Dr. Blair is a tough professor, but you will really learn a lot in her class. The material is very interesting and necessary to succeed in our industry. Failed one of the exams, but if you crush the final group project you should come away with a decent grade for the course.
I don't mind a challenge, but Dr. Blair thinks her class is more important than others. She assigns a lot of reading and videos. There are only 2 exams, but each exam is split up over two days. Not to give you more time, there's just that much more content you have to memorize. For exams everything is "fair game" including videos and guest speakers
DO NOT TAKE HER. EVER. if you have any other choice, choose them over her.
She's a good person but her lectures are boring and she's really strict about due dates. She answers emails pretty fast which is nice. I personally wouldn't take her but she's tries.
Dr. Blair is a great professor and person. Really cares about the material she's teaching, although she is crazy strict, trough grading and expects a lot from her students. Her class is required if you're in STHM and will definitely prepare you for upper level classes, but if you're thinking of taking her for a gen-ed I would reconsider.
Dr. Blair is a painful professor. The class is interesting but she NEVER gives students a break. She goes by a point system which screws you over in the end if you bomb her extremely detailed 2 part test. I am crying right now because of the exam I had to take.
Dr. Blair seems like she cares about you, but she doesn't. Her tests aren't hard if you only study for them and forget the rest of your classes. She is not helpful when you ask for feedback or how to make a stronger grade. She does not grade on a scale that is easily understood. Be ready to be frustrated in this class, for the whole semester.
Doesn't teach, seems like every thing is on part of the students to read the material she posts. She will talk for about 50 minutes about material in which I question the relevance at the start of every class. Tests terrible hard and she doesn't prepare students in the way she should whatsoever.
Dr. Blair seems like she cares about you, but she doesn't. Tests are terribly hard and she doesn't prepare students in the way she should whatsoever. She expects you to drop everything and just worry about her class. Her actual class is a joke. If it was not required I would never take this USELESS class Be ready to get frustrated in this class.
Demands way too much and is an extremely tough grader.
Hello there STHM Student, If you like your life, for the love of all that is good and great, do not under any circumstances take Dr. Blair. She will take your sanity and crush it right in front of you. She will take your solid GPA and make it look like it never happened. If you wanna live life to the fullest, PLEASE LEAVE THIS PAGE NOW
Just a really disappointing Professor. When ever she lectures she goes on and on and the information turns irrelevant. This class is a GPA destroyer. I honestly don't understand how people like her can become a professor. The tests are borderline unfair with how hard they are. She gives the worst, most bland study guides that I've ever seen.
She will make you wanna switch majors. Enough said.
Awful experience. The tests are way too difficult and not easy to manage.
Dr. Blair is an amazing person but her class is awful. Her exams are ridiculously difficult and hard to study for and she assigns so many projects that you're constantly stressing about something. She barely lectures and instead talks about stuff that's interesting but not related to tested material. Required for STHM majors so you can't avoid her
About half the class time is wasted on over-explaining assignments clearly described online and on tangents. This leaves little class time for the actual material that could easily be covered in class. Dr. Blair takes easy content and makes it and her class painfully and unnecessarily difficult.
Very strict and tough. Extremely difficult exams. Half of the class got below 50% for the first exam. The material is really dull and boring. Her class is a requirement in STHM and she is the only instructor. So I switch my major.
She's not as bad as the comments make her out to be. Exams are tough and challenging but her class is interesting and she does her best to keep us engaged. She is super strict and has little to no tolerance for a lot of our concerns. You also have to do 4 hrs of community service in her class as well to pass.
If you are interested in the topic, she is a good professor. HOWEVER, if you look for an easy A GenEd class, AVOID!
Her class is tough, no doubt, but it is not that bad. Exams are HARD, and you have to memorize words by words for it. There are some homework, but they are not that a lot, except for the final project. Still, she is very lenient with her grading and cares about her students. Just strictly follow her direction and you should be fine.
Prof Blair is a very strict prof and her test are extremely hard. She makes you do an assignment where you have to spend 4hr at an organization and you can not pass the class unless you do the assignment. There is a final project no exam and she expects you and your group to work on it all semester which is dumb. She takes points off if you are not
Makes everything more difficult than it has to be.
Can't express this enough don't take her! She blows. She pushes her views against you and grades you upon agreeing with them.
People on this page are just dramatic. She is a good person. Her class is tough, but if you do the work you will be rewarded. Honestly, people are intimidated by her because she is a person of color in power, which results in these comments lol. Don't sweat it. Temple makes you take her for a reason.
Moral of the story is: don't take her get ed, just deal with it when you have her for diversity, and avoid for capstone or anything else. I had her twice, not by choice. Capstone and her diversity class. Suck it up and accept that you may have to get lectured at and repeat her point of view in all assignments. Do the work, accept a B, and move on
Dr. Blair is a horrible professor. Her opinions are right, if you disagree you're wrong. Tests are ridiculous. In class work is pointless. I had a 3.8 GPA at Fox before this class and I have a good job out of college. This was the first C I have ever gotten in college. I will never use this information in my life ever.
I was ecstatic to receive a B in this class. Tests are ridiculous, the entire class showed up to study sessions and the average was still in the low 70s. The T.A. had no idea how to help us with the test (not their fault). Required 4 hours of volunteering to pass the class. The course is required in STHM so just get the class out of the way ASAP.
Dr. Blair has very strong views about what she teaches and rewards anyone who agrees with her. However, those who don't are punished with harsh grading on homework and projects. Freedom of speech and getting an A in the class isn't possible unless your views align with her's.
Tons of work for an online class. I was doing more work for her online class per week than I was doing for my business classes, and the course I took was a Gen-ed.
Exams were tough. Discussion boards are kind of annoying
Dr. Blair is a hard ass, plain and simple. She's a great professor but you have to be prepared to go above and beyond in this class, its not a breeze. Her exams are incredibly difficult, basically mandatory to study days in advance to be prepared. However, I did learn a lot in Blair's class because she basically makes you do so. SHE IS HARD!!
Do not take her!!
do not take her if you want to enjoy your semester
Exams are incredibly difficult and you have to study days in advance and you might have a slight chance of passing the exam. If you fail one exam your chances of passing the class go down drastically. Mandatory 4 hour volunteering is required to pass the class. Class discussions were sometimes interesting, but did nothing to prepare you for exams.
Blair comes off as a mean and impossible professor from online but I promise, as long as you do your assignments you'll be fine. The tests do not correlate with the content you create with your final. Pay attention in class to her concepts and examples. Participate in class and she will love you. The final can change your grade for the best.
Professor is knowledgable but is very unreasonable with her teaching methods, a lot of "busy work" that won't contribute to your knowledge. Lectures were almost nonexistent, a lot of ungraded assignments, and always assumes the worst of her students. Most of the class was spent on her talking about what we're not allowed to do rather than teaching
Taken for GenEd credit during the semester everything moved online because of COVID19. For a class unrelated to my major, the course load was ridiculous. 6-12 readings/videos every week, class prep assignments, MULTIPLE pointless time-consuming projects, very difficult tests. She BARELY lectures, and when she does it's unrelated to test material.
Hands down the worst of Temple. She designed this course to fail u. Useless and worthless GENed
Dr. Blair is not a nice person. If you miss anything in class, and you ask a question about it she will make you feel stupid for not knowing the answer. Her tests are very hard even if you study a lot. A lot of busy work that won't help you on the tests. Never had a teacher so rude when people are just asking simple question.
Debra Blair is a professor who seeks to obtain the most from her students. She is a very nice women and I disagree with the claims of her being opinionated However, the content of the class is very dry and I often find myself as an SRM major, that I have lost interest in the class content. Dr. Blair is lecture heavy and her test are very difficult.
DO NOT TAKE HER! She is the rudest person I have known in my life. Do not take her even if your life depended on it! I do not care if you think I am dramatic because I have never encountered such rudeness in my life. Every time I ask her a question she makes you feel dumb, say I was slow? I have a right to ask you questions since I AM PAYING HER
There is a misconception about Dr. Blair. Her assignments and directions are laid out very clearly in the syllabus and she wants you to succeed. She is always there to help you. It's what you put into the class. She makes you earn your grade. Some due dates and impromptu assignments can be confusing, but note you won't skate by doing the bare min.
This is the worst class/professor I have experienced in college. It's very difficult for no reason. Unfortunately it is required for STHM students so I'm sorry for anybody that has to take this class.
Although her class is not particularly hard, that is only because prior classes I have taken with a different professor that related to diversity. In her class, I have yet to learn anything all that new. I find her to be rather rude to students, shaming us when we ask questions. Other classmates admitted they are scared to talk to her.
Do not take this professors classes. Simple as that. She will ruin your day.
WARNING: You will hate your life if you take this professor she is an absolute disgrace. She thinks she is a professor at Harvard and thinks that she is soo important but actually she just destroys lives. Absolute beast of a woman sent from fiery pits. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The class content has potential to be life changing and Dr. Blair is knowledgable. However, she's a terrible teacher: she has a huge learning curve with teaching online yet is not open to feedback. There is a lack of clarity in her directions, and a lack of transparency in grading: we weren't able to see which answers we got wrong in the tests.
Unless you have to take Blair for STHM 2114, run as far away from this woman as you possibly can. She has the most overinflated sense of self importance I've ever seen from a professor and she sees herself as some grand intellectual despite teaching a useless HR class for students who could barely care. Extremely rude and treats students poorly.
If you have to take this class be prepared for her to talk down on her students every class. She will call you dumb. She gives half credit as 4/10, she will fail you, if you don't use exact words she says she will not accept the answer. She will not work with you to better your grade. Heavy work load, very hard grader, never gives full credit.
Dr. Blair is extremely intelligent. However, she can come off as condescending when you ask her questions. Her class is required for STHM majors so try not to take it to heart when she does that. Make sure you do well on the classwork and group projects because the exam is VERY hard. Only take Blair's class when you are in 15 or less credits.
Dr. Blair is definitely a great professor but she can come across as kind of rude and can definitely get a little tough. She definitely does get condescending and does not like being interrupt. The work also doesn't match the amount of points its worth imo. There tends to be a lot of work but not enough points for the assignments.
She is extremely smart and her class is really important. She doesn't make it engaging enough losing the interesting and making people hate the class. Lots of little assignments she never graded until mid semester when she got another prof. to grade. Group project at the end decides your entire grade, make sure you choose a good group.
So rude! Treats this half-semester course as if it were a major class. She'll say one thing on Zoom but have something completely different in her assignment instructions. Vague instructions. Expects you to read/view hours worth of material before each class. Put way more work into this one class than all my others combined. Avoid like the plague.
I read the reviews prior to class and was scared about having her. It's really not that bad. Yes, she can have an attitude if you make her repeat yourself and she expects a lot of articles read that you probably will not read. But she gave us a study guide for the exam, and if you just do the work, you will be fine.
I have mental breakdowns because of her and the fact that Temple hasn't fired her for the amount of stuff I have heard about her (meaning complaints and such) is beyond me. She is condescending and expects way too much. This course is honestly ridiculous....yet still required with only one teacher who doesn't teach? It could be a good course...
Blair is a great professor. Her class is not hard as long as you attend class, participate, and pay attention. All point-based. One test(mostly short ans.).Course-long project is the final. Hefty busy work. Make sure to read because she expects class discussions on them. As long as you stay on top of the work you'll be fine. PARTICIPATION MATTERS!
Dr. Blair is very intelligent, and her class is tolerable as long as you do the work. However, for a genEd course, I believe it is too much work. I spend more of my time working on her class than my actual major. She is also very condescending, and is difficult to work with. She is rude and has talked down to students and will dismiss questions.
If you can avoid this class, do so. She spends most of the class time explaining how to do her confusing assignments. Gives off a negative attitude most of the time and doesnt try to build any type of connection or friendliness with students. Dont even think about asking a question that has been talked about because youll get a snarky response back
Halfway through the semester I wrote a pretty negative review on Dr. Blair. But my views changed by the end of the semester. She is very passionate about her class and does not accept slacking. Participation is important and as long as you pay attention, you will be able to participate just fine. She will work with you on your grade which is a plus
Wallahi she any professor. She's biased as hell, like how you are biased and teach diversity. I don't even do reviews on professors, but this is crazy. She always has an attitude and doesn't care about her students. And she is rude. I advise that if you can avoid this class, please do so. If you can't, good luck to you. One reason I changed majors
Okay, so I went to this class scared. This class is challenging, and there is a ton of work. BUT Dr.Blair does not let her students slack off, but she does care for everyone. Keep what other people say from getting to your head about this class. This class is hard work, but you will do fine if you put the time and effort into it.
Dr. Blair is a very tough professor. She treats her class almost as if it is the only one you are taking. The amount of reading and video watching she expects you to do outside of class is crazy. She likes to over inflate herself and her accomplishments which is annoying. Overall if you participate and at least pretend to care she'll be nice to you
This class is not easy, it is a lot of work. Assignments are lengthy, and tests are nearly impossible. However, if you try you will do well. Dr. Blair is tough, and she will not let you slack off, but she is a lot kinder than people make her out to be. Participate and do the work and you will be ok.
This class would be so much more enjoyable with a different professor. Blair creates this uncomfortable vibe in her class because she is always on edge of what the students are going to say. She also is very bias in her teachings, there was endless amounts of readings, discussion boards, projects, and the exams were impossible to pass.
Make sure to read the resources because you need about 6 weekly assignments and they are all about 20 pages long. Also she takes kind of long to grade your stuff like some of my assignments took 3 weeks to come back. She doesn't make all the assignments on the dashboard so look at each modules carefully.
If you can stay away from this class, stay far far away from it. Very biased and opinionated. She will attack you for voicing your opinion.
Honestly, she grades pretty fairly on everything. She was understanding on group projects as long as you made a clear effort. Her exams are so so hard and the study materials she provides aren't that helpful.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. If you have any choice in taking her class, DO NOT.
Had her last semester while I had 7 classes to take. I talked with her and she told me that I had to have "better time management." I had two 7A's that semester and was overworked and stressed with the workload. I have to take her class again this semester now knowing of what to expect.
This class requires a lot of work, but if you're willing to put in the effort, you can succeed. The professor is tough but fair - she expects a lot but is willing to work with students. unstuckstudy was a great study tool alongside the readings.
Professor Blair is as arrogant as it gets. She believes that she is the next greatest thing, and only her opinion matters. She encourages open discussion but then shuts down anybody who goes against her agenda. She thinks her class is the most important one on your schedule and assigns 2-3 page essays every Tuesday.
While Dr. Blair does give a lot to process, here class is not hard if you stay on top of it. Discussions aren't bad as long as you prepare with the enough time. Exams are not that hard either if you study. She cares about her work and I think she does a good job at doing that. She is not as bad as these ratings say. Only take if required
I recommend everyone to avoid Dr. Blair if possible. She assigns ridiculous amounts of homework, which are unnecessarily complicated and take ages to complete. She also cares too much about participation and will take away points even if you're not sitting up straight. She is the worst professor I have ever had in school or college.
If you can, avoid Dr. Blair. Bad teacher and just rambles on and on the entire class then expects you to pull random things she said once out of your head. A lot of busy work and the final is a 12 page paper due before break... make it make sense
This class was a good one to me, if you are someone who doesn't prioritize seriousness, and thinks life is a joke, you'd not like this class. Instruction are simple to follow and deadlines are stated clearly with reminders. She is sweet and a tough grader. She sees your efforts when you try and won't force you to speak in class if you don't want to
