Very nice and interactive
she is young and sweet..i reccomend for english course
Great teacher! She is so well-organized and you always know what to expect. She is very clear and very helpful. Her work is fun and orderly, and always appropriate to what you are learning. Great teacher with lots of energy!
awsome teacher easy to work with and is understanding if u cant print out ur paper or need more time
good teacher. essays are challenging and there's a lot of them, but if you take the time to grasp her format you will do well and leave the class with the ability to write great essays
She is a great teacher. She makes sure that the whole class understands what she is expecting, and her lectures aren't boring. She gives great feedback on your essays so that you can improve on your weaknesses.
The BEST teacher I have had! She makes learning fun. She expects a lot from you but she helps you to achieve it. I have learned a lot in her class, but I have yet to feel stressed out because she helps you so much. Her lectures are interesting, I actually like class eventhough I hate English. I would suggest taking her for any class. She's awsome !
She is such a great teacher! She really helps her students to understand how to write a well written essay. I took this class last spring, and she really has provided me with a strong foundation for english.
She is such a great teacher! She really helps her students to understand how to write a well written essay. I took this class last spring, and she really has provided me with a strong foundation for english.
Professor Bronstein is truly a gem. She teaches with enthusiasm and provides great information to help supplement her lectures. Would highly recommend for students planning to transfer to any 4 year institution.
Unfortunately I think this semester she learned a lesson on setting boundaries with students...She encouraged us to take advantage of her ample office hours and I think she was pretty fried by the end. One of the best professors I've had
i love professor Bronstein!! She truly cares for her students and wants them to succeed. Take her class if you want to improve your writing skills
this teacher was very hard if your grammar not at english 1A don't take her she don't know how to teacher. suppose teacher will review little grammar in class then go essay part, but she will keep saying that teacher grammar was not her job. not very helpful on the work done bacuse she talk one things today then tomorrow is another things she want
She is a great teacher, she really is there to teach you how to improve in your writing, she doesnt give too much hw, just reading from the text, and the next day she reviews the reading during class, and makes sure you understand what you read. she tends to randomly call on you, to answer questions,is anal about walking out of class!take her!
She is a very sweet lady and has an interesting teaching style. Depends very much on participation but do it so you won't get picked on. Very helpful to the students and shows you how a proper essay should be written. Strongly recommend!
i wonder why people say that she is one of those hottest teacher...her grading is unfair and hard, she is always busy,so every time, when i go to her office hour, only could see her for like 10 minutes. not helpful at all. she just tell me to see turtor. not recommanded seriously!!!!!!!!!!!!
very disorganized!good luck if she gives any paper back! She seriously takes FOREVER to grade a paper, so its very hard to know what your grade is,which really sucks!!
did all my work and got B's on my essays & got a D. i called her to asked why and she never returned my calls. she thinks HIGHLY of herself and says, "i dont expect you to understand my writing but im not going to dump down so you can understand me." rude without knowing she is. trust me, we could understand her just fine.
She was a very hard working instructor, could tell she wanted everyone to do well. If you would like to do well in english take her class. If you don't want earn to your grade. Don't take this class.
Definitely one who cares and teaches with enthusiasm. Great fo those planning to transfer to any 4 year institution. ADVICE: Do your reading, learn the proper form for a thesis and your essays will be judged fairly. ~*I'm an English major who is an "A" student but slacked off and found myself with a "B" with only myself to blame!*~
She cannot explain anything clearly and she constantly contradicts herself. Good luck getting your paper back cuz she'll keep it forever. And she has no idea what she wants on her papers more than half the time
Started off cool then she went all Hitchcock on us, cant handle noise, makes the class feel as if the best we can do is a C----.Doesnt understand the material. And takes FOOOREEEVER!!!! to grade papers. Still waiting on paper sense early November! Needs to teach high school and understand how hard teaching could really be.
It is not as if she is truly that bad - It's just that she goes too crazy and cannot contain herself when the class starts talking. She is too emotional when it comes to her job, and this emotion is what makes the class resent her more. She did ask once on how to improve the class, but seeing how she's behaving again, I think she failed to change.
If your in college to learn then take her. Not for slackers! She really wants you to do better. She is always available in her office to help. Takes awhile to grade and that can be frustrating. Good choice!
Even if you want to learn shes grades like a freak and you'll end up with a bad grade no matter what. Useless class, didnt learn anything new other than how to pull answers outta my ass.waste of my time. contradicted herself repeatedly and was never clean on what she wanted in her essay. very unorganized and don't hope on getting your papers backs.
What she wants in an essay is unusual and is not taught in lessons, nor is it clearly defined in a textbook or a handout. She will answer any questions, but you won't even know where to begin asking. Trying to get a good grade in this class is like trying to hit a moving target on a foggy moonless night, then waiting 6 weeks to see if you hit it.
Professor Bronstein is nuts. first out of a whole semester returned 2 of our class essays. is way to emotional over anything. the only time she was helpful was when she extended her office hours. i do not recommend her at all.
Very difficult teacher. I have always gotten A's on English papers, but her style threw me for a loop. The class made me feel like a rabbit chasing a carrot on a stick. She is very helpful in office hours, but everything is very elusive. Takes forever to hand back papers. Nice person, but needs to calm down to increase effectiveness.
And another note, I felt very sorry for her. Administration gave her a completely unmanageable load during the last semester, so it wasn't completely her fault that she fell so behind. Hopefully in the future, both she and her employers will be able to better manage her time.
Does she care about teaching? Yes. Does she care about you learning material involving English literature? Yes. Does she care about how hard you bust your butt to get a good grade and succeed in college and life? Nope. She does not care about you. She wants you to fail. Do not take her. Worst teacher I have ever had in my 21 years of existence.
* We received less than half of the assignments back. The class ended 3 weeks ago and I still haven't seen my mid-term paper. * She is arbitrarily hard, not academically hard. The class is confusing more than educational. * This is the class that squashed my 4.0. * I am now so soured on writing that I communicate exclusively with bullet li
very unorganized this semester. i think students suffered as a result, putting us about to transfer in big trouble. knows her material, but her expectations on writing are too high for what we learned. we will learn material for about a week and expect to write a perfect essay.
Do not believe with all the bad comments about Prof. Debra. She is a fantastic teacher I ever had. The essays are difficult, but we learn a lot. I feel like going to UCLA but paying a cheaper rate at PCC. She really brought up PCC standard.
She wants us to write a higher standard essay. That what education is. If you donot want to work hard, donot go to college. She is the best of the best teacher.
Prof. Bronstein knows what she is talking about. She is very intelligent and very passionate about what she's teaching. If you want to feel like you're actually in college, take her classs. Her office hours are open and she will go over your entire paper with you before you turn it in. Not easy but you will learn a lot. intimidating at first.
never returned our papers...
She is a great teacher and is very knowledgable and open to ideas differant than hers. Just do the work and read the essays and it's a relatively easy class that you learn from
i love ms. bronstein! she is so nice and a great teacher. really cute in a very nerdy way, gives you an entire outline of what is needed for every essay. very smart woman
Professor Bronstein is a great professor! If you're an English major, you must take her class. She challenges you in thought and in writing, and that's exactly what we need before transferring. She is clearly very knowledgable in what she is teaching. Use office hrs-she takes long to grade but only because she grades so thoroughly. Very helpful!
i love her. i got and A in her class and i am super lazy and a HORRIBLE essay writer. she gives you exteremely detailed outlines for every essay you write and give a good amount of extra credit opportunities.
I love Ms. Bronstein! She is an amazing teacher who is willing to help you with anything she can. She's one of the best teachers I've had on this campus and I would totally take her again if she taught 1C!!
For one of the essays, she gave the class one B, two C's, and the rest D's and F's. What do u say.
Prof. Bronstein means well and she is extremely passionate about teaching. However, she has a very difficult grader. She says the class is stuck on plot summary, shouldn't this have been worked on in class after the first essay? On one essay 11/15 students got D's and F's ..
She is not a "hard" grader, if you understand what she wants. If you plan to take her...understand that she wants you to write about what the author is trying to show, and how she uses the characters to reveal this. She did not clearly explain this in the beginning, and I got 3 Cs and a D on her essays. Barely passed. USE HER OFFICE HOURS!!!!
By far, one of the most influential English professors at PCC (at least in my opinion.) Bronstein was there for us through every step of the way, she truly cared for her students. The key to success is to visit her during office hours with rough drafts. There were 4 essays, a quote explication (1-2 pages) paper for almost every play. No final/quiz.
Great professor, interesting material, and a lot of work and effort in order to do well. Be prepared to write several essays throughout the semester and speak your mind--the true way to pass this class. Oh yeah, don't hold your breath waiting for your papers to be returned, but other than that, a challenging course.
By far my favorite class taken thus far in college! She makes you work very hard and challenges your thinking, but you grow so much as a student, writer and critical thinker that it is entirely worth it! I would recommend this class to anyone who is a hard worker and wants to better themselves. Thank you Proff. Bronstein!
Hated her she gives out homework everyday and if you dont do it her way she gives you a bad grade. I always feel like sleeping in her class because she is so boring but if you try to sleep she either calls on you or kick you out. If you say something & she says it is correct, she put everything in her words that had nothing to do with what you said
awesome.
She must of obtain her degree at a fake college, I haven't learned a single thing. Its suppose to be an English class, but instead we study about cultures and homosexuality. Oh by the way Debra I'm Walter H. White.
She is a trip. The better my papers per her own words the lower my grade. She would have given me a B on a paper, but I had a few grammar issues so it dropped to a D. We spent a month on womens issues, then she wanted to get the male point of view so we read about some gay men! what type of ish is that. Don't take her class
Took her last semester, but WTH is up with all these negative reviews? Oh, wait...ENGL 100 students! Ah, that explains A LOT. Disregard these comments, she's a great teacher. Granted, she's difficult, but she prepares you for the UC level. I'm transferring this Fall, and I'm so glad to have taken her! She's extremely helpful too.
I find it halarious that most of the students who complain about Dr. Bronstein can't even type and/or write a proper sentence w/o any spelling mistakes...maybe there is a reason why you all failed?
I recently took her English 100 class during the spring semester, and I really enjoyed it. Some of the homework seems like busy work, but it all has a purpose. The topics for papers aren't always easy, but she is very willing to offer help if you ask. Make sure to read all the assigned stories, and don't be afraid to offer your opinion in class.
My attendance record was spotless and I turned in all my assignments. I am not the best essay writer, but I gave substantial effort in improving my writing. My grade average was C-D. I do not recommend this teacher if you are an average writer. Not all of us are English majors, but she does not understand that.
i took her class last semester. it was a disaster. she seems nice but is very hard on gradings. she gives a lot of C's and D's, few B's and no A. She gave feedbacks on every paper but she never explain her standard clearly.
Her class is not the easiest. You won't start off by getting A's or B's but by the end of the semester you'll have improved. She makes the time to work with her students before/after class & will always reply to emails. She's a great professor that challenges you to think & push yourself to earn a good grade. I got an A in the class :)
This professor seriously deserves a 4.0, rather than a 3.7. I complained A LOT about the workload, but seriously guys this is college. What did you expect, H.S. level writing? I guess a lot of students do, but they'll find out if they ever transfer. If you want to improve your writing skills A LOT, take her. If you don't care, take someone else.
Professor Bronstein is the best professor I have ever had. I really agree with the comment from the previous person. This is a college level writing. She is excellent profesor. Take her.
she is one of the best professors in PCC. very passionate about teaching and English. a lot of reading and writing, but she gives you crystal clear instructions which is really easy to follow. She loves different opinions and gives you extra credit for any improvement on your writing.
I loved her. She was not easy but my writing improved so much throughout the course. Her methods helped me put what I was thinking down on paper. I believe she cares about her students and will do whatever she can to help them succeed. She notices each individuals progress. One of the best instructors I've ever had.
I love lit, but she makes it so dull and dry, I actually learned more in my high school AP classes. The discussions are shallow and she rarely if ever says anything illuminating. Insists on 5 paragraph style essays 6 pages long (yuck). And no, I'm not a disgruntled slacker. I'm an english major getting a good grade and I still hate her class!
I'm sorry and I really hate to say this but she is TERRIBLE.. worst teacher I have ever had and I am just one of the many to think so. It pains me to even write something like this but it's just not fair that she expects perfection from her students
Bronstein is the best professor I've had at PCC. She is challenging but very interested in her students' success, so she is always available for office hours and is very thorough and helpful. She leads great discussions and will push you to be a better writer and critical thinker.
I would go to her office hours for help on my papers and she guided me in the wrong path, she told me to do it one way and when i did, she marked me down for it >:( if you want to pass english 1b and 1a with a B or better DO NOT TAKE DEBRAH BRONSTEIN> you will regret it for the rest of your lives.....
Simply impossible; there is no pleasing Oxford. She takes a ridiculous amount of time to return papers (at least a month), and the comments are not so much helpful as snide. I am not an English 100 student, but a working professional with three college degrees. This class was a very disheartening experience; wish I had dropped. Don't take her!
Bronstein is one of the best professors at PCC. I'm so glad I took her before I transferred. Her extensive knowledge about English Literature prepared me for upper division classes, and my writing really improved. She puts tons of comments on papers and truly cares about student success. Class participation made for lively discussions. Worth taking
Very straightforward and no nonsense, but also incredibly nice. She made even the dry, old readings interesting. She gives a ton of helpful comments on papers and always made time to meet with me. She even took the time in her super busy schedule to talk to the class (and me personally!) about transfer plans. I LOVE Prof. Bronstein!!
This professor cannot has no idea how to manage her time. Spends first half of class talking about transfer issues, then gives a shortened lecture (class discussion). Took an average of five weeks to return papers; did not have our Renaissance papers back by the night of the final exam. This affected my decision to drop- and I wish I had!
I completely disagree with the previous comment. Bronstein showed how much she truly cares about our academic future. No other prof at PCC invests as much in her students. She's very generous with her time. Use her office hours! She breaks down the writing process and teaches you how to close read quotes. My writing really improved. Fabulous prof.
Her teaching isn't great, and at times, she tells you one way and then changes it up or she gives you the wrong help. Nonetheless, I liked the class, but it was a drag. She's very knowledgeable and gives a lot of comments on essays.
Bronstein is the best teacher I've had at PCC. She challenges you to grow in your thinking and your writing, and she really cares. The previous student just sounds bitter about getting a C. Obviously they didn't care about learning anything. Bronstein devotes all her time and energy to her students. Take her, so you'll be ready to transfer.
I took her in Spring '12 and now am at UCLA. If you want to know how to write for a upper division Uni course TAKE HER. She asks for alot but without her I would have been really behind in my courses now. Not even Engl 1B at PCC prepared me to write the quality expected as a English Major at UCLA.
Most comments on returned papers are unnecessary & useless for future assignments, almost like petty jabs rather than constructive criticism. She talks too much about her personal life as a way to excuse her tardiness on both coming to class & returning papers. I love Shakespeare & English, but I regret ever taking her class.
She is a very difficult grader (I'm an A student, but I honestly don't know how I managed an A with her), and not because she expects college-level writing, since everyone should expect that. She just has *extremely* specific expectations. She's a professor for English majors or people who simply enjoy & have a firm grasp of writing.
Not for the lazy. Bronstein will probably make you work harder than any other English professor at PCC will. But it's worth it; you will also learn more in her class. She can be a bit erratic, disorganized and overly-demanding at times but keep at it. She turns out to be pretty generous in the end.
Bronstein will kick your ass. But she'll teach you how to write a great essay in the process. Take her if you like a challenge.
Do not take her if you want to save your GPA. She is very unclear with what she expects of you & it takes her at least a month to give you your paper back. I would not recommend her to anyone, even the hard working.
Not the best english class out there! I regret taking her she made me question my writing and she was never clear about what she wanted in essays! In the whole semester only got 1 paper back it's just really bad! Don't take her you have been warned!!
A+ college level class. Whether her class is good or not depends on people's preference. Everyone's different. But I learned a lot in her class. She really pushes you to do well and to improve. Put in the effort and do exactly what she tells you to do...just don't take this class for easy A.
The worst professor at PCC. Do NOT take her. She is extremely unclear and constantly contradicts herself. Of all my years at PCC, this is the one class I regret taking.
Taught a community college survey course as though it were an Oxford master's program. Seemed excited to give Fs, and proud of how difficult her class was. But pretty in a Judy Greer kind of way. Don't take if you want anything above a C.
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HER OFFICE HOURS!! this is where you can really get some one on one feedback! She really digs into the readings so that you have a clear understanding of the material. Assigns just the right amount of homework to let you study for other classes as well.
I would not take this professor again. She seems to have a lot going on in her personal life. She expects you to meet her timelines when she doesn't meet her own. Papers were not graded in time for the next paper so you had no feedback. She would take class time to grade papers. Bring headphones and your laptop so you can at least watch Netflix.
A truly amazing professor for those who are actually trying to improve and not just pass. If you have difficulties with the subject or just wish to skate by, I would recommend an easier teacher. Her classes are fun and lively, with lots of discussion and participation. Easy to approach, and gives great advice. Highly recommend, would take again.
Please don't take her if you aren't an English major
Worst English professor in the department. Always absent and never on time. Extremely religious and closed minded. Thinks shes very smart but has so many contradictions in her ideas. Over half the class dropped. Really shouldnt even be a teacher. Doesnt care and wants students to drop so she could grade less
Worst teacher at PCC. Rude, boring, and unprofessional. She constantly cancels classes with no notice and never grades papers on time. Genuinely just a horrible teacher.
Although she took a while to grade papers, she gave a lot of feedback. Tough but cares. I visited her in office hours a lot this semester and she went over my paper and gave me instant feedback. She is a single mother to an infant--she cancelled class because the baby got sick. Always made extra time for students. Taught like a real college class.
Professor Bronstein is a decent professor that provides great feedback on papers and practically provides you the outline of essays to make it easier for students. Comments above that reflect negatively of her performance are not empathetic to the fact she has had a tough time with her child this semester. She attempted to make up for it in ways.
Bronstein has to much going on in her personal life. It does effect her classes and organization. The negative comments are true because students lost their patience with her because this was an everyday occurrence. Do not take her unless you have extreme patience.
She is an amazing teacher that is: willing to help you when you ask for it, understands that life is difficult, a little confusing in grading but fair, is into hearing your opinions & is happy to get into discussions about the material (reading), is usually sick (cold wise only), & really loves teaching.
She is extremely sweet and understanding given she had a few unfortunate experiences through out the semester. If you are looking for a professor who will strengthen your writing and allow you to think critically, take her. My grades on my papers progressively increased through out the semester, so she is clearly teaching. Not an easy A or even B!
She is a great professor and her class is very engaging. But she has higher standards so if you seek an easy professor, don't take her. Her cons are she has some difficulties in her personal life which can effect her organization and time management (she never grades the papers on time). She emphasizes to stick to the structure all the time
I try not to blame professors, but she was incredibly difficult. Her essay prompts are very bland but she expects a lot. She takes too long to give back assignments. I would recommend you look for a different professor.
Her readings are so repetitive and confusing to read. Yet, when our papers are repetitive and confusing when summarizing or analyzing we get marked down. She is really nice and caring, but make sure you spend days on a reading assignment to truly understand them or she will be mad and assign quizzes. Felt like you need to be a English major.
Make sure you come to class ready to get questioned on the stories she assigns you, she pushes you. Your participation is needed! Think of all the questions she gives you about the story outside of the box, trust me it helps. 4 essays 4-5 pages long 3 vocabs quizzes she is a hard grader take her if you really love English or can bs you way to a B.
She really cares about her students and ACTUALLY WANTS them to succeed. Very accommodating and understanding. Professor Bronstein is a highly intelligent woman who always contributes meaningful comments to class discussions. Picks really interesting literature and gives a CLEAR outline for every single essay. Eager for 1B this semester with her.
I really enjoyed taking her class! She is really caring and considerate. If you work hard in class, she will definitely give it back to you. She really cares about her students. I really like her as a professor and person :)
Professor Bronstein is, without a doubt, my favorite English teacher I have ever had. Participation is a big part of the class, but it also really helps in writing your essays. Not a super easy grader but if you pay attention in class and write on what is discussed in class, it is super easy to get an A.
Bronstein might be tough (and, okay, late on returning assignments sometimes), but imo she's a must-take if you're preparing to transfer to a more rigorous school. I know I'm a better writer and analyst for having learned from her this semester. Tons of really valuable feedback, good lectures -- she'll push you to grow, and fast.
Really tough grading criteria and expects you to be profecient at essays. Essay prompts are a bit confusing but she is willing to help you to get a good grade. I would recommend this class if you have knowledge about the topic and know how to write essays in argument form.
Bro if you dont like the middle east, this class aint for you. You better know how to write exceptionally because she is a tough grader.
ONE OF THE BEST CLASSES I HAVE TAKEN AT PCC. My writing significantly improved because of her very thorough feedback-- something pretty rare to receive from other professors. Bronstein is so sweet and genuinely cares for her students. Lenient w/ deadlines. If you pay attention during lectures and do the readings, earning an A is very achievable.
Shes caring and will help you if youre struggling. Shes also very funny and well respected. If you participate in class then youre good. She hands out essays but gives you time to do them in class with the help of your peers and she will even help the whole class by doing the thesis as an example. Shes super cool, I would recommend this class
I admit this professor was a tough grader, but her class helped me become prepared to do well academically. I transferred as a english major to a highly regarded university and her class pushed me to write better. She wont baby you with the material. I disliked the class at the time, and her deadlines were short, but i appreciate it now.
Professor Bronstein is by far the most challenging professor I've had. However, she makes the courses hard for a reason. Her readings and class discussions were the best part of the class. Her papers are hard, but she gives detailed feedback and grades on improvement in the course. Amazing professor! Just be ready for a challenge!
This professor does not care about student's feeling at all. She comes late in class every time and makes students wait. Today was the final day, and she made students write essay in class. However, she called out some of students and scold them in front of the classroom. I personally do not think she deserves to be a professor.
Doesnt have the greatest work/life balance. Prioritizes some classes over others. Tough grader. Lectures are boring. Discussion/essay driven class. No doubt she loves what she teaches.. but please, only take her if you ABSOLUTELY need to.
Professor Bronstein wants her students to succeed. Her grading criteria is clear and although she is a tough grader, she is approachable and will help you if you need it. If you pay attention and actively participate in discussion, you should be okay. Once I understood how she ran her classes, it was a breeze.
If you arent an English major or LGBT you probably wont get an A. I purposely wrote about socially contentious topics to sway her into giving me an A for all my papers after I asked a classmate if I can read their essays to see how theyre scoring so high. It was clear that she incorporates a students character and personality into her grading.
Do not take her class unless it is mandatory. You do not get your feedback on any of the work until the end of the semester. Unclear syllabus and grading criteria.
She takes awhile to grade papers, like don't wait on them. But she's actually really good at explaining really heavy texts. If you participate on Zoom discussions she gives you good ideas to use in your essays. She uploads all the readings on canvas for free! She's a mom so sometimes she reschedules. When she does give feedback it's super detailed.
BEWARE. I cannot stress this enough- DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. Super uncooperative with students, is insensitive to personal or work issues, super unorganized, hardly grades anything on time, doesn't have clear grading criteria, and changes her zoom times constantly, and then gives you a bad grade for not being on zoom for her lack of time-management.
Bronstein was tough but fair. She's a single mom to a young child with no open schools in a pandemic. Zoom is not required for any asynchronous classes , but she zoomed every week for nearly 2 hours at a time and always posted lectures. She allowed students to turn in work up until the day grades were due. She gave detailed feedback and cared.
This is definitely not an easy class. If you want an easy A, don't take this class. However, I enjoyed this class a lot. Learned 3 books about the middle east for total of 3 essays. She is so caring and accepted late papers till the last day. If you feel lost, watch her zoom recording for ideas and don't give up.
Rude & worst teacher on the planet. Unclear and HORRIBLE feedback like "huh" or "too vague" which is no help at all and grades last minute so you don't know what's right or wrong in your essays. Does not reply to emails ever, even though she says she will. She must enjoy failing people I see the average on her essay grades and she fails everyone.
She doesn't really describe the homework all too well and the resources for you won't really be accessible in terms of how you wanna access the class things just come as the class goes on. Can tell right away she's not tech-savvy because she would constantly be editing due dates and was never too keen on replying back to any of her emails.
She's a better teacher in person but for online she's not very well adjusted SHE WILL NOT reply to your emails I REPEAT she will not reply to your emails or messages so if you want anything answered go to the zoom lectures and ask her in person. Lots to read with very few instructions on essay paper goals so you have to go to class to pass or ask.
Honestly she was pretty okay I had to look at her lectures in order to understand the homework. She was pretty mean on grading huhhhh like- okay great that helps. I did pass her class but honestly u have to put in the work if u dont want to stay for her lectures find yourself somebody else.
LOVED HER! Participating and just listening to the lectures (they're not boring) will make writing your papers so much easier. She's really understanding and very lenient as long as you communicate. She is a little slow at grading, but she is a single mom w/ severe migraines, so I don't blame her, plus everyone procrastinates a little bit. 10/10
She is really nice don't get me wrong the lectures are really entertaining and not boring at all. But there are a lot of papers I would sit down for 3 days to complete an assignment. Overall I am not that good at English but if I can u can too and I passed.
Prof. Bronstein is a very good professor, you'll learn a lot from her. She gives really detailed feedback, so sometimes it takes her a while to grade. She's very brilliant: the analysis that she will go over is very thorough. She is, however, very scattered, for example, putting up the reading late or grading things late.
Online course was not clear at all and was punished from a pass to a fail grade by one paper that had very little guidelines or information worth alot and couldnt make it up.
This is a great professor to take for your English class. I like that she gives you many options for essay topics and her lectures are great. There is some reading you must do but what do you expect, its an English course. Overall I walked away this fall semester satisfied with this course and would definitely recommend to anyone
Professor Bronstein is a pretty good professor her lectures were interesting. There are a few small assignments but most of all just papers. She usually gives readings a couple days before class and that is what we discussed about during the lectures. Overall I would take the class again she gives plenty of feedback on your papers.
Professor Bronstein was great! I took her class in the summer for an English credit and her class included reading from texts such as "Letter from a Birmingham Jail" and "How to Tame a Wild Tongue". Her feedback was exceptional and she was very understanding and encouraging. Taking an online English class during the summer with her was great.
Bronstein is that frustrating combination of totally unforgiving and terrible at communicating her expectations. I never got any responses to my emails, and she grades so slowly that I wasn't able to use what I'd learned from her feedback in time. You'd think she'd be cooler when the first reading was about how hostile school can be.
By far one of the best Eng teachers I've ever had. She LOVES her job and is super passionate. She picks really cool readings and loves to hear how we interpret them. She gives the most positive feedback and uplifts her students so much. She is insanely understanding, I turned in a bad essay, she let me redo it. She isn't a monster like others.
My biggest issue with this particular professor was that she started grading my assignments towards the end of my semester. I emailed her several times to ask to be graded on time so that I could rectify any mistakes I may have made to perform better in future assignments. She took weeks to email back. I didn't really LEARN anything in this class.
Debra was.... lazy at best. She took to grading our assignments at the end of our semester. I emailed her multiple times to ask if she could grade on time so I could rectify any mistakes I may have made so I could excel in future assignments. Her feedback on my graded work would've been relevant to me actually learning something if graded promptly.
Debra's class has mixed reviews - some found her helpful, while others felt her feedback and communication were lacking. Attendance is mandatory, but the workload seems manageable. For study prep, using tools like unstuck AI alongside the readings can be quite helpful.
Friendly and open teacher with a clear outline for the entire semester's reading material. Pretty similar to AP Eng Lit but a lot easier imo. Discussions can get kind of tedious and long-winded but are very insightful even if you haven't read the material beforehand. She takes a while to grade the final essays so pay attention to prior feedback.
I took this class fall semester, and Prof. Bronstein was amazing! We had about five essays in this class, and as long as you follow her rubric, it shouldn't be too difficult. I explained to her that I had a family emergency, and she let me submit an essay past the due date. She gives good feedback on assignments and essays.
She typically doesn't respond to questions or provide feedback until the end of the semester, when she grades all assignments at once. Keep in mind that this means you won't have the opportunity to resubmit assignments or make changes based on feedback.
The actual coursework is not bad. However, the modules were all over the place. Her communication is not strong, she will not reply to you or grade anything until towards the end of the semester or until you involve the dean of the department. She grades super heavy without clarifying how to actually help you improve in your assignments.
Assignments are not hard whatsoever, but she has terrible communication with her students and grades most assignments toward the end of the semester. So you cannot even tell if you are on track or not with the assignments. Then she will dump a lot of essays at the end of the semester. Not worth taking her at all.
Ngl her lectures made me fall asleep, but she was so nice and understanding, I took her class and it was FULL and then a week later there was only 5 of us, her hw wasnt even bad, she likes her essays straight forward, no bs just on point. One thing is that u do have to read, she does participation points
Professor Bronstein was a very good educator, she knows the material really well and can go into analyzing a short story of a poem for 2 hours straight (sometimes gets boring). She really enjoys when people participate and she never makes you feel discouraged about the way you interpreted the material. Shes not the best at keeping up on the grading
Professor Bronstein is very passionate about what she teaches. Her class is just lectures and discussions of the poems/texts you have to read. Assignments are not hard but her outline for essays can be confusing. Tough grader but does give good feedback. Only downside is that she grades everything very late so you might stress about your grades.
