This class is easy and discussion based. You will have to do presentations, but Debra opens up the floor to creativity, mistakes, and becoming one big family. The class is very organic with little memorization involved. It's all about group interaction and easily became my favorite class and favorite teacher. Highly recommended. Debra is spunky.

Dr Deb is a wonderful teacher. She is constantly learning which inspires me to do the same. She is very interesting and am happy to have met her. She can be a positive influence on my life in and out of the class. She is like a mentor.

Dr. Deb is a really good teacher who is funny, energetic, and fun to listen to. Her lectures are more like friendly talks and it is a really fun learning experience. I enjoyed her class a lot.

This is my second course with Dr. Deb. I had her before in public speaking and learned a lot from her there. This is, however, not the reason I am in this class now. Dr. Deb pulled me aside one day after my speech class and said this course would be very helpful with my self esteem issues. She was right. She goes out of her way to help everyone.

This class was worth taking. I learned quite a bit not only about how I communicate but how others around me communicate. I enjoyed the projects and the activities when learning about personalities. I felt like it was a great class. I did a good job choosing a communication class to take. I would definitely suggest taking the course with Dr. Deb

I came into the class expecting to have lots of homework and vocab to memorize. The class is more of an exploration of the things we take for granted in our day to day lives like why we act the way we do. If you get the chance to take this class, do it! I am so thankful I did.

Professor Buenting is one of my favorite teachers this semester. As long as you go to class you'll have fun and get a good grade.

Group projects should be smaller. Too many people makes for misunderstanding. Meyers briggs is a big point but there is a lack of variation when it comes to teaching the different types

Dr. Deb is amazing. She gives a fun loving atmosphere while able to keep on a focused topic. She uses previous experience to clarify a topic and she values interpersonal skills in the classroom than just sitting there in a lecture. She's a bright person in all senses of the word. Take this class because we all deal with people, it's better to know

Overall I enjoy the class. She keeps it interesting during lectures and has a bubbly personality, makes it easier to follow along and pay attention!

She does a lot of in class work and attendance is a grade FOR A REASON. missing class will put you behind but her course load is reasonable. I never considered communication to be an interesting or fun subject until I took this class, taught by Ellen Degeneres... Also known as Dr. Deb... Highly recommended!

Dr. Deb is one of those teachers you can easily relate to. She makes learning about communication fun and is constantly making her students laugh. The material covered in class is extremely helpful for everyday life, and has taught me how to understand myself better.

Very flexible with all ages of students, especially the students with full time jobs and families.

Easy grader-do the work, get the credit sort of deal. She's a very fun, energetic teacher. There was a lot of group activities, which isn't my favorite-but I do think there were cases when it helped teach the material. Sometimes she rushed through things-it could have been a longer class time. Overall, she taught the material very well.

I actually enjoy this class more than I thought I would. Dr. Deb really makes it fun.

I truly enjoy the class. There is never a dull moment. I feel very comfortable to talk to DR. Deb if I have any questions in the class. My only recommendation would be on assignments that we are given to have more of a outline and a grading scheme of what you expect in the class.

Dr. Deb is tough but fair. She knows when to crack a joke and when to be more serious. She cares about her students and does her best to ensure their success.

I took Dr. Debs COM 125 class last semester and I have to say she is absolutely amazing. Attendance is graded as well as participation in her lectures but she does ask for feedback frequently to ensure that everyone is enjoying the way she teaches. She is EXTREMELY lenient with late work and took students assignments up until the last day of class.

Dr Deb is one of the best teacher's I've come across. She's engaging, clearly chooses subject matter that pulls you into the conversation, and has fun with it. If you're an introvert like I am, she will lightly push you out of your comfort zone in ways that are challenging but not overwhelming. A teacher who is truly for the student's development.

I absolutely LOVE professor Buenting. She has first hand experience in communication both in, and out of country. She is very approachable and more than willing to help her students. She is funny and entertaining as well as a "good teacher" in general. I would love to take one of her classes again!

Dr. Deb is in my opinion the best possible speech teacher anyone could take. She'll help you as much as she can. Lectures might be a little long, but she'll outline exactly what you need to know for your next speech. As long as you don't forget about the speeches or the midterm/final you'll for sure pass.

I took COM 125 online and it was a great class. I enjoyed learning a lot about communication especially interpersonal communication. There were assignments due every week so be ready to read and do the assignments. There were weekly journals & discussions, video lectures, and papers/projects. Would recommended this class.

I thought Dr. Deb did a great job of taking a class most people detest (public speaking) and making it bearable, nay, fun. By the end of the class, everyone was SO much more confident and able to present without fainting. She had lots of supplemental material to make it relatable. Loved it.

Dr. Deb is awesome in a communications class. She knows how to communicate with the class and isn't uptight about anything (unless you're on your phone not paying attention). I would definitely take more of her classes if I could. I would definitely recommend her. The assignments that she gives have meaning and are actually educational!

Dr. Deb, is one of the best instructors that I have found. She has a sense of humor that makes even the worst day seem okay. One thing to watch out for is your attendance sign-in (she had a sub and I personally forgot to sign in three times oops) now that being said, I would take her again for any class, the group projects are great as well.

Dr. Deb is an excellent professor. She is able to keep the class engaged and is able to keep the topics interesting. She provides great real life experience and examples of the materials. Her PowerPoint presentations are effective and you are able to retain information. You do have to show up and participate, which helps you improve your comm skill

She really cares about the subject and about the students. She wants her students to learn a lot which is key in a good professor. She provides a lot of outside resources and information to help you understand the content and grades fairly. She has worked with me when I needed it and been very understanding.

Great instructor, very easy to talk to, but very lenient with the class. There was a lot of sidebar conversations and disruptions. As long as you keep up with the weekly journal and paid attention youll pass easy peasy. If you have enough life experience like a 30yr old the book isnt necessary. You get one freebie absence.

She is a really awesome teacher, her teaching skills really proves her knowledge, and helps you learn. She is a very inspiring teacher dripping with sarcasm.

He tech skills are amazing. She helped me quite a bit. I love her teaching style. It would be very hard to fail her class unless you did attend it.

Super helpful course. Dr. Deb was a great teacher and made class fun and very informational.

One of the best teachers in the school. A little paper heavy but I find papers easy. She explains things so well, I never had to ask for clarification. Lectures were always interesting, and we even got to see some movies in class. Homework was fairly light, with one larger project, a short film of our own design. Definitely can recommend.

Dr. Deb was great in making sure you were able to understand and relate to the message she was trying to get through to us. She was understanding when things came up, but know that attendance definitely affects yours grade!

However, a majority of her class material was very dated (big knock for a film class), and she also seems somewhat unorganized at times. I've had worse, but I've also had better.

Professor Deb was first class and she was a little tuff but that was only to push you to reach your full potential and optimize your classroom time. She plays in a band which is pretty good actually. I went to the flea market where she was playing and asked for help. She met me with a cheerful smile and help me. She cares about her students.

The class was very easy, if you just turn in the work you will definitely get an A. Dr. Buenting seems very knowledgable and has tons of life experience, but we didn't learn very much in the class. Maybe because it's an intro class, but it was all very basic. Regardless, it was a fun class with very little busy work.

She was awesome, especially for an entry level class. Didn't expect too much like other professors I had but also gave a good amount of work so the class wasn't easy. Grades timely was very responsive to emails and other communication.

She has a great personality that makes the lectures interesting. I appreciate that she is inclusive for LGBTQ+ students. I took film art and the material was easy to understand and interesting. She seemed genuinely interested in the topic I wrote about for my final essay and I really appreciated that.

This professor is very enthusiastic and entertaining. She is very friendly toward students and always shows up to class with a smile. 10/10 would take the class again.

Very nice and humorous, however, doesn't give clear instructions on some projects which makes it tricky on what she expects from her students.

She has a full understanding of film and her personal experiences really elevated the level of learning when she shared them. She has a lot of respect for the students in her class and was a fair grader. Overall and easy and very fun class, as long as you're willing to give her the energy that she gives you.
