The best teacher that I have had. She cares about students and wants them to be the best possible teacher that you can be. I would take any class that she offers. work load is lighter. show up to every class and it is farily easy to get an A
On the first day of class she tried to makes herself seem like a really mean teacher. By doing that one student droped the class...If you take her...DO NOT drop after the first class. She is just putting on a front. It will get better. She is one of the best profs I have had.
i liked her a lot very clear and seemed to know what she was talking about
Dr.Clark was an awesome professor. She tries to scare students at the begininng, but she is really a nice person and she cares so much about her job and student's education.
She is a very fun teacher, who doesn't grade hard. Most people, as long as they showed up, got A's and B's.
She is the worst teacher ever. A very unfair grader if you're not one of her favorites. I honestly don't know why she is a loud to teach an education course. Don't take it!

Professor Clark is amazing. She is so knowledgeable, and her class is so amazing. Its never boring, never uninspired. She is amazing!!!!!!!!
As long as you did your work and showed up she passed you. IF you think she was unfair it was probably because you didn't show up or take it seriously.
Dr. Clark is one of the toughest profs that you may have, but she truly cares about her students and wants to see us succeed. She has taught me so much about what it means to be a teacher and has taught me a lot about professionalism. I truly admire her and if you get the chance you should take a class with her.
loved her! she's not hard as long as you do your work. The class was interesting and you can tell that she truly cares about her students. Give her time and she will warm up to you. I recommend her to everyone!
Dr. Clark is amazing. At first she seems tough, but she has a reason for everything she says and does... she is also very knowledgable... you will learn a lot from her if you care to... Highly recommend her
Dr. Clark is an amazing teacher! I would HIGHLY recommend her! Her class isn't easy if you don't attend class...so ATTEND class. Her classes are the ones that stayed with me throughout my four years here. Take her class, but don't drop it in the first week! It really does get better. Take it from me whose taken her class twice.
She will scare you to death for the first month or so. Just don't drop out, or cry! she hates crying lol. But work hard, and actually meet with her and you will do fine! Absolutely and completely helpful during meetings! Very willing to help out where possible. Difficult class, but I learned quite a bit!
Shes hard but good. Knows what she is talking about.
As long as you stay on top of the work load, you will do fine. She will question your foundations and make you really thing about the subject. She is a fantastic professor and a fun person. She definitely knows the stuff she is talking about and constantly updating her course style. I highly recommend her; you will not regret the decision!
At first she seemed helpful but as the course continued she became less and less so. She was rude and inconsiderate to the students and did not help when issues were posed. I would not take a class with her again, even if it was a requirement. It is highly inappropriate for a professor to insult students who are having a tough time with the work.
I loved her! Never realized how passionate I could become about my values. Dr. Clark IS the person to take if you want to take more than just a letter grade away from the class!
Awesome teacher! Highly recommend Dr. Clark!! Def take this class, it's a lot of fun!
LOVED HER! This was the one class that I actually wanted to go to. Don't drop out within the first week. She seems really harsh at first but once you get used to her it's great! If you do the work and pay attention you will do fine
Everyone kept telling me how hard and mean she was before I started the class, but when I got in there she was the complete opposite. Some of her assignments are hard as well as time consuming but you mostly do a lot of group work, so it wasn't that bad. I loved her and she made class a lot of fun! Take her if possible you will learn a great deal!
OMG one of the best professors at Kent State. don't let her weed you out in the first week. this is one of those classes you look forward to bc it is something interesting every day. stay the course and you shall be rewarded.
I had her for Education Dem. Society. She was awesome. Very funny and laid back. Funny sense of humor, overall nice and great teacher. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! :) SHES AWESOME!!
I absolutely loved Dr. Clark. She was an amazing teacher and is a lot more focused on whether or not her students are learning then the grade. We had a lot of class discussions and debates and did a lot of group work. She was very helpful and understanding. I would highly recommend taking the class if she's teaching it.
Great teacher. I would highly recommend taking her for ed. in a democratic society. She really cares and wants to make sure you learn
Dr. Clark is fantastic! She scared me and intimidated me at first, but once you get to know her, she's an awesome professor. She wants you to learn and not just for the grade, but for the knowledge that you'll have to know as a teacher. I highly recommend her. It's important you go to class and stay on top of your work. This class isn't for slackers
I had dr. clark for education in a dem. societ. she is a toss-up. when I had her she was amazing and made my dream of teaching into a passion. when my roommate had her she was distracted and horrible. there is no book everything is online. if you do not like to debate she wont treat you as a professional. she really makes you think.
Liked her at first, but she became worse as the semester continued. Did not care about students feelings and had no problem insulting students. She is the reason I am no longer an education major.
she is a good teacher she makes you think about the subject and does an Excellent job.
Wonderful educator. She's truly passionate about the subject, and makes sure the material will stick with you. She's tough, but very professional. I learned a lot and I recommend her for anyone serious about education.
Great professor!
This is the most amazing professor a pre-service teacher could have. If she taught any other classes I would take them all in a heart beat. But I recommend to never miss a class, since you will lose points and act professionally at all times. I learned so much in this class and not all of it was intended to be in the curriculum which is amazing!!
Great Professor would take the class again if I could
Best professor I have ever had. I won't give away the details, because it's so much fun to figure out yourself. She'll make you love teaching and open your eyes. Just don't be discouraged by the first week! (You'll understand)
Dr. Clark is the best professor that Kent State has to offer. She treats students like adults and will make or break you as a "pre service teacher". Don't let this scare you. If you really want to teach she will teach you EVERYTHING you need to know. Brilliant teacher who is truly passionate about her job.
There were a few good things about Dr. Clark. She treated her students like adults, and was available to discuss class issues with. However, she is very unorganized and isn't very clear on instructions.
She was absolutely amazing! I learned so much more than just the material of the class. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life and I will remember her and her class for a long time. She is tough and expects A LOT but its all for your benefit. If I'm a great teacher in the future, it is because of her.
I had her for education in a democratic society and it was the best class I have ever taken! I loved Dr. Clark! I would highly suggest her! If you get a bad grade in anything u can make it up with other points! Hands down the best teacher at kent. If she taught any other class I had to take I would take it! Dont be discouraged by 1st week or 2!
Amazing teacher. Knows exactly what she's doing with each lesson and will teach you more then you can imagine. Should be mandatory for every pre service teacher to have her!!
What can I say? DEFINITELY write professional emails from the start. Don't let the unique teaching and assignment styles stress you out too much because it's easy to get an A, it's more important to struggle through the process without cracking (but don't show your emotions at all); Do that and you'll appreciate taking the class with Dr Clark
such an amazing teacher! if you're at all on the border about going into education TAKE HER CLASS for me her class definitely made me want to stay in education. Shes the best teacher ive ever had at kent and she makes sure you work for what you get, you have to earn your grade in your class so dont think its a blow off, definitely worth it!
She is knowledgeable in her subject area but it's a very narrow focus, she has little understanding of modern American culture outside the school, the one that your future students will be operating in. She only treats you as a professional if you agree with her and will insult you in front of the class. Extremely unreliable outside classroom!
Her class made me want to become a teacher! She gets fussy about little things & expects a lot, but is very helpful throughout the entire course. Not the easiest to get along with but if you do, you will not be disappointed!
Dr. Clark is the best teacher I've ever had at Kent. She has a specific outline for the class and by the end of the semester you have all the skills needed to go into the education field. I cannot stress enough to take this class. I learned so much, and ended with an A+. Definitely take this class - she helps you adjust to college as well.
Dr. Clark's class starts off tough, but fun. Once you start to work with your group she basically stops teaching and lets you do all the work. It ends with a really hard project, but this class is amazing! She;s a tough teacher, but she makes it fun most of the time.
She starts out tough so you know to get your act together in the class, but as the semester goes on, she really develops a personal relationship with her students. I absolutely adore her!
Talks more about her life than teaching. Is rude and unprofessional, though teaches professionalism in teachers. Not helpful at all, don't ask her questions.
This class is a Nightmare! She changes the syllabus weekly. She has you work on 3-4 Projects at a time and than changes her mind, and never accepts or grades them. She sends long pointless emails like 3 times a day that make no sense or with an assignment she will never grade. I spent over 3 hours a day studying and doing her projects.
This class was really hard. However, I'm lazy by nature and a procrastinator and I got an A. You just have to work hard. If you want to be a teacher you need to take this class. You have to work hard. And to be honest i got sick from nervousness going to this class for a month. But this class taught me so much and i would take it again!!
Dr. Clark was awesome, The class can be extremely hard but at the same time teaches you to work hard and stick with it. She teaches you how to be a professional. Her expectations are high but you need high expectations when becoming a teacher. She has been my favorite professor so far! Oh and remember dont ever cry when you are near her she hates it
Does the ABSOLUTE most. Final due a month before finals week. Lots of group work. Ruthless, will call you out in front of the whole class and hurt your feelings. Interesting discussion but if you can't do the work don't take it.
HORRIBLE professor. She only cared about teaching us her opinions not actually things we needed to know for the education field. The group work was ridiculous and most of the teachers that we did the projects for didn't have any use for it because of how Dr. Clark made us incorporate stupid things into them. DO NOT TAKE HER!
Dr. Clark is one of my favorite professors that I have had at Kent State. She teaches you real life skills that you will need as a professional in your career. She is seems a bit intimidating at first, but I promise it’s worth sticking around to get to know her. She is very helpful and knowledgeable about her field. TAKE CLASS WITH HER!!
Her class would literally be perfect if she explained the assignments clearly and stuck with her original directions. She teaches you self-responsibility, but I can't tolerate a teacher who barely goes over class material and makes you teach yourself everything from the book. She seems to want your opinion, but won't hesitate to tell you it's wrong
She's wonderful. Take her course! I think every person who takes her class takes something away from it; whether it is content from the book, her debates and points of view, or learning about yourself. You also learn if you truly are a person cut out for teaching. All of the time and effort is worth it in the end, but you just have to make it there
Dr. Clark is one of the most wonderful people I've ever met. The class can be challenging at times, but I learned so much and I will use all of it in my career. I also got an A :) This class is highly recommended!
I absolutely LOVE Dr. Clark. While there is a LOT of work, and tests/quizzes are extremely difficult, it will make you a prepared educator. If you do your reading and pay attention, you will do fine in her class! I love Dr. Clark's humor. But, she is very strict. Again, only to benefit your future. She's BY FAR my favorite teacher
Dr. Clark is extremely intelligent and passionate about what she teaches. She stresses being a professional which is where she comes off strict. However, if you show respect at all times and do the required work you will be fine. She genuinely wants you to succeed and doesn't beat around the bush with her opinion. One of my favorite professors yet
One of the best classes ive taken. She is a very intimidating and strict teacher but she is NOT mean. a lot of people confuse mean and strict. She is very good at her job and genially cares about her students. Will go to odds end to help you pass. If your shy like i am you will HATE the class at first but i promise youll end up loving it by the end
Amazing. At the beginning of the semester everyone said she was intimidating. Yeah that wasn't the case in my class. Even though it's a challenging class, it's fair. Very interesting, very fun, and I really learned a lot!
I LOVE DR. CLARK. 100%. Best prof I've ever had and will ever have. ASK QUESTIONS...I can't stress that enough. For the LOVE of Kent, ASK. ASK. ASK. Remember, there is a method to her madness.
Loved this class. It started out intimidating and as the semester progressed the class got better and better. Always interacting with each other and other classmates. Lots of standing up and sitting down throughout class.
Dr. Clark is a great professor. Her class is intimidating at the start but stick it out, do the assignments and interact in class and you will get a LOT out of this class. One of the first classes I feel I walked away from having learned quite a bit.
Everyone is afraid of Dr. Clark and within the first few classes you will be. Yes, she can be scary, but if you truly are going into education and passionate about it, you have nothing to worry about. She is brutal, but its constructive good criticism. Don't say dumb or ignorant things. Think before you speak. She was amazing and I learned so much.
BAD A$$ SUPER COOL GODDESS WARRIOR WOMAN. YOU WILL LEARN A BUNCH. SHE'S THE BOMB DIG. DO YOUR WORK THO
Everyone is scared of her at first, including myself. But Dr. Clark is an awesome teacher. Always willing to help if you have questions. Is it easy? No. But if you want to be a teacher you should want to learn. Still talk about that class until this day. Half the class will drop in a fe weeks. Just make sure you go to every class & you'll be fine!
She was very scary at first but you warm up to her in the end. Her quizzes are very hard and it is very hard to find the answers in her book which she wrote. This class taught me a lot about being a teacher and what to expect.
I absolutely loved Dr. Clark. Everything you need to know is in the syllabus. Follow it and you'll do great. Class requires some work but overall is an easy A.
This class is very challenging but it helped me a lot. She is tough at first but once you get to know her she becomes a lot better. Do not drop the class the first week even when you will want to. Stay in it she gets a lot better!!
Easily one of the best professors I've ever had. She's super intimidating in the beginning but don't let her fool you, she's actually very nice. As long as you read the book and do your notes the way she recommends you to, you'll get an A.
Dr. Clark is by far my favorite professor here at KSU. She truly made me realize why I wan't to be a teacher. Although her class is tough, if you work hard you will succeed. She may be scary at first, but in the end she is always there to help and she will impact your life in some shape or form. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Great teacher. Was not my favorite in the beginning but I started to warm up to her. Go to class. You'll miss a lot if you don't and it's easy points for going. Quizzes are hard so defiantly do the reading and get as many professionalism points as possible.
Dr. Clark...I really want to like you. Stop making it so hard on me to do that. I'm ok with a challenge if there's concise rules, and Dr. Clark's class has no rules. Misplacing student assignments, ever-changing syllabus, and unclear directions make for a complicated classroom experience with more head-scratching than learning. Stay away! Ahh!
Dr. Clark is an extremely awesome professor. If you make it through the class, you will understand why you want to be a teacher. Yes, this class is tough and the quizzesfinal are from hell but she tells you how to pass and fail the class the first day. She changes the class every semester so you'll likely experienced something then others.
Dr. Clark was a very inspirational professor. Her class was mandatory, but she made it so that you actually WANTED to be there. I believe that she has taught me to be a better teacher in the future. She really motivates you to do well. She can be quite intimidating. Get on her good side. Wish I could take her class again and again.
I loved Dr. Clark. At first she is tough but once you actually attend class and get to know her you will love her. She is very helpful and she is very funny! I suggest taking her class!!!
I have never respected a professor more. I was intimidated by her expectations at first but she just genuinely cares about education and she wants us to go into the world prepared. Every quiz/exam is open note and can be taken as many times as necessary, and the exam is a group-work thing. Respect her and she will respect you.
She is truly a wonderful professor and person. She is always available to help and makes not so interesting material bearable. I learned so much from this course. GET THE BOOK. Every quiz and exam (which are all online) is based off the book more so than the lecture. As long as you put effort into the class you will get an A.
The beginning of the class, she focuses on getting the lectures out of the way and then you have to do online quizzes that are very difficult to ace but it isn't impossible. After that part of the course, you just work on a group project for the other half of the semester and the final exam is online and you can do it with a group.
When I first read the syllabus I was terrified to take her class, after I experienced just a few of her classes she quickly became my favorite professor. She has a passion for education and teaching and truly wants nothing but for us to take something away from her class. I have so much respect for this woman; she makes me want to be a teacher.
Very passionate for teachers and expresses opinions on all topics. Get ready to work in groups, but do NOT work together on individual assignments. Lectures are interesting and fun, but there are not many of them. Mostly based on groupwork and final project. Quizzes can be taken multiple times. Professionalism points can earn you extra points.
I respect this woman so much. This was my absolute favorite class I have ever taken. Dr. Clark makes you think in many different ways and I learned so much from the way she teaches. If you are looking into going into the teaching profession, you will love this class. You do have to care for the class but I promise it is so worth it-would take again
Dr. Clark is one of the best professors i've ever had. She challenges you beyond belief, and in return it makes you a better person/future teacher. She prepares you for your future. She is extremely helpful when you need her. I would take her again in a heartbeat.
Dr. Clark is a pretty tough teacher and intimidating to some, but in 3 years of college, I've never had a proffesor that has effected me so profoundly. She is passionate about her work, and expects students to work hard for a good grade. That said, there is less raw memorization than some other courses. I'd definitely recommend her to anyone.
Dr. Clark was hands down my favorite professor Freshman year. She knows her stuff, takes no nonsense, and is very straightforward. Even though I didn't continue as an Education major, I learned a lot during my time in her class, some of which I still apply today. She genuinely cares for students and definitely has my utmost respect.
Dr. Clark is really great. She lets the class vote on whether they want to have the lecture or discuss proposed topics. She is also probably the most chill teacher I've ever had. Pretty funny, too. The class is really interesting and eye-opening. Her textbook is well-written (by her) and useful. Attendance is mandatory but you won't want to leave.
One of the best professors I have ever had! She is tough in the beginning but she is just weeding out the ones who aren't fit for the program. Take her class and participate. Best ever. I would retake her over and over again.
She is very serious about cheating. Most things are group projects but if you have something individual YOU HAVE TO DO IT BY YOURSELF. This class made me super excited about education as my major. Dr. Clark provides lots of instruction and is very helpful when you don't understand something.
Almost everything in the class was group-oriented, which challenged me since I prefer to work alone. Many people are intimidated by her but I'm not one of them. Very outspoken which could be both good and bad. She definitely knows her information and she expects you to know it as well to pass the class
Love Dr. Clark! She is very intelligent and wants to see her students succeed. If you put in the effort/ time to talk to her during her office hours it will make a huge difference! Also, you should really go to the Writing Commons & get as many extra Professionalism Points as possible (it will really help your grade).
Dr. Clark is an interesting character that definitely makes you work for your points. There are several very dry and dull assignments that make up the majority of your grade and a ton of group work. She hits you with a lot of hard to answer questions that you come to realize will be your reality and your job if you stay in the education field.
You may not like her, but you will respect her. She is hilarious and a great teacher. Show up to class do the work and your grade will reflect that.
Dr. Clark is an amazing professor. She really is passionate about what she is teaching and believes teachers are the most powerful people in the world. Quizzes are challenging but you can take them as many times are you want.
The first day of class I HATED her but within a few weeks she started to grow on me. Now, she is by far the best educator I have ever had. She cares about her students and pushes them to do their best.
Dr. Clark is the most inspirational professor I have encountered so far. Such an amazing woman aiming to better the education system through her students.
Dr. Clark was one of my absolute favorite professors, If you are here because you just had your first day and are thinking about dropping her class DONT I learned so much in her class and she really does care about her students. She just pretends to be all intimidating the first few classes. The only thing I didnt like was the charter school thing.
Professor Clark is awesome if you are serious about pursuing a career in education, or even thinking about doing so. She wrote the textbook herself, and is EXTREMELY knowledgeable. She comes across as being a little intimidating at first, which may cause hesitation in participating in lectures, but she is very sweet. You work for your grade.
Don't even think about disrespecting her. Don't yawn during lecture, don't talk while she's talking, don't text during class. This chick is scary if you cross her. Lives straight by the book. A very interesting person... You either like her or you don't. Trust me when I say there is no in between.
BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD! I seriously mean it. If you are serious about being a teacher of any kind then I 100% recommend taking Dr. Clark. She puts you in real life situations and gives you eye opening experiences. Her class is easy if you do the work correctly. I wish I could take more classes with her. Respect her and she will respect you.
One of the best teachers around. Dr. Clark truly cares about her students and wants them to succeed. She gives a lot of individual feedback to assist you. She is also very knowledgable. Do not expect an A in the class if you turn in lazy work or don't show up.
Amazing professor, intimidating at first, but stick with it. I truly learned so much and was inspired by Dr. Clarks lectures. If I could take her again I would in a heartbeat
Make sure you look at and follow the rubric for projects cuz she sticks to it when grading. Group projects weren't necessarily difficult, but they were a bit of work. A couple essays, too. She says some pretty profound stuff, but she doesn't sugar-coat anything; she says it like it is, and I appreciated that about her. Highly respected by many.
Dr. Clark is a unique prof. She makes you work harder than you ever have before and forces you to speak up in class. Very intimidating at the beginning of the semester, but STAY IN THE CLASS - that front fades away over time. Work is assigned frequently so expect it. Best professor ever, I learned so much.
Bottom line, this is an important class. Dr. Clark will challenge you and really make make you wonder if education is the right field for you. Follow her rubrics and syllabus, because she adheres to them when grading. If you pursue an opposing view, be ready to support the hell out of it. You may not like her, but you will respect her.
Dr. Clark is really intimidating at first but after a few weeks she'll grow on you. I definitely recommend asking as many questions as you have because she is super helpful and nice when you ask or go to office hours. The class gets easier throughout the semester so stick with it, its worth it! Its challenging but I learned a lot!!
Super good professor. Go to class, pay attention, go to office hours, ask for help. If you take a quiz and don't get a perfect, go ask for help. She is really caring if you want to learn. You may not like her at the beginning but you will definitely respect her.
Hard class but not impossible. She is very intimidating at the start but she truly cares about the students and is really inspiring. She wants your opinion so participate in class. I've never had a professor so passionate about what they study. She wants to put out good teachers and will work hard to make you that. I respect her so much.
I can not suggest Dr. Clark enough, she is one of the most amazing people I have ever met. There was group work, papers, quizzes, homework assignments- there was just a variety of different teaching styles as well. I truly do love Dr. Clark and she taught me more then I ever expected to learn. Still visit her during her office hours.
Quizzes are so hard, the rest of the class is a group project so its pretty easy
Dr. Clark has a rep for being intimidating, but she's actually a pretty big softie and very funny. She made me laugh every single class. When she lectures class is pretty interesting, but most of the time you're working on one of many group projects. She gives great feedback in group meetings and as long as you do the work, she gives full credit.
Absolutely loved her and this class, If you are taking Ed-Dem I would tell you that you have to take it with Clark. She is passionate and cares for students and issues happening in the school system!
Dr. Clark may come off as intimidating at first- don't let that scare you off! She is genuinely funny, and will make you think. Her grading expectations are very clear: follow them to the letter and email or visit her if you have any concerns. She genuinely wants her students to succeed if they put in the effort.
Dr. Clark is someone who really cares about the educators being put into this world and it shows. Quizzes are definitely harder than they need to be and you are expected to read the book, but she makes the class fun to participate in with debates and she expects you to participate. LOTS of group project work. Attendance is worth lots of points.
Easy class. Dr. Clark trys to seem tough at first but shes a very caring professor. The class is passable, just make sure to put in the work. The textbook isnt expensive, the quizes aren't hard and you get as much time as you need for the assignments. The final can be done with a group. Put in the work to get an easy A.
Group work is a huge chunk of your grade, so if you are stuck with a bad group you are screwed. The quizzes and final you can take as many times, but they are super hard. The lectures contain a lot of info not provided on the powerpoint. She is scary at first, but does lighten up. To me this class had a lot of busy, pointless work.
Was scared of her at first but she became my favorite professor! Class is all group work so hopefully u get a good group or u wont do well. Quizzes and final is really hard but can retake however many times. Her lectures are really pointless so have the book. The work and projects are hard and time consuming and i dont know what the point was
Dr. Clark is super intimidating at first, but she does that on purpose. By the end of the semester, you will wonder why you ever feared her. Her class is based pretty much solely on group projects and they aren't easy. They are very time consuming so don't put them off. All quizzes and tests were online and could be taken as many times as needed.
Dr. Clark is one of my all-time favorite professors. The class isn't as hard as some make it out to be; participate in class discussions, do the work and ask for help and you'll earn her respect. She knows everything there is to know about the field and then some. She wrote the textbook herself and I've used it as sources in 2 other classes!!
Dr. Clark is one of the best professors I've ever had. Although she was intimidating at first, you soon realize you have nothing to be afraid of. She really cares about her students and opens your eyes to a lot of different scenarios that you might not typically think about. The group work was a little hard but she was very helpful and made it easy
I'm not sure if it was just because of online classes due to COVID but she was extremely difficult!! I giver her props for moving everything online, I know it could not have been easy on her but at times she lashed out at her students. You need to buy AND read HER book or you will not get the correct information for assignments.
During the first group project she called me and my group-mates weenies, but she ended up being one of my favorite professors I have had! this is a hard class that requires lots of effort, but if you try your best she will make it worth your time. I would absolutely take this class again, even if I didn't have to. DO purchase the book!
She is one of my favorite professors I have had. We do a lot of group work. We did not have to show up to class every week (some weeks were optional). Her quizzes were hard but she gave a lot of extra credit. She is always willing to help her students and challenges us to think about other view points. She was easy to talk to.
Dr. Clark was one of my favorite professors for me this semester. She gives plenty of opportunity for extra credit. The book was a HUGE resource during the quizzes. She has them designed to make sure you read the material and really know your stuff. Some group work but nothing too hard. 10/10 would take again.
Dr. Clark has truly inspired me to do my best as a future educator. She started off our first class powerfully, giving us examples of what we may run into with our students no matter what level we are teaching. If you respect her, you will gain her respect in return. Make sure you come to class, and get ready to participate in your groups.
I absolutely loved Dr Clarks class and would recommend it to anyone. She taught in a very different way from most professors and most of the course was small group paced work with check ins with her along the way. She is very knowledgeable & it was my favorite class taken so far at Kent. If you are between professors for this class, take Dr Clark!!
She's one of the smartest people I know and cares so much about her students. She's amazing at explaining things and is overall such a great person. My favorite class so far!
Dr. Clark is probably the most intimidating professor I have ever had but she is one amazing person. You can most defiantly tell that she cares for you because she is so tough. But being tough I believe is the best thing that has ever happened to some of my peers. I've learned more about myself in her class than I ever have before. Just do the work
I love Dr.Clark. She has been the most eye opening teacher I have ever had. She give amazing scenarios with her lectures and has the best eye opening class. She is an amazing person all around. On the first day of class I thought how am I going to survive this class then after that I realized this is the best class I could of taken. Would recommend
The course was fun and almost entirely based on one group project. This class helps you make a lot of friends but also forces you to hold yourself accountable with setting your own due dates and possibly meeting with your group outside of class. Overall I enjoyed this type of class setting and Dr. Clark was truly a pleasure to have.
As someone who is a theatre major, I honestly don't like this class at all. While she seemed pretty nice, education is NOT my thing anymore. The group projects weren't that good as I thought they would be. She can be a tough grader. I wish I had drop this class after I switched my major. DON'T take this class if you're not going into education.
Dr. Clark can be intimidating at first but is actually super sweet. I took Education in a Democratic society and the entire class was based on group projects. If you are good with group and staying on task this class will be very straight forward. There is a lot of work but if you schedule properly you WILL have time for everything.
Very intimidating but she is amazing. She is a tough grader only because she wants you to know and understand the content. I love her lectures. The group projects are time-consuming and require communication within your group members. She is very professional, and I loved her class as an education major.
Dr. Clark may seem intimidating at first but she truly cares about her students and is very knowledgeable in education. After the first couple weeks, this class will be mostly be all group work so as long as your group gets along and you all contribute, you will be just fine. Most assignments are group-graded as well.
Dr Clark is an amazing person, let alone professor. You will not regret taking her class. Even better, she actually wants to see you succeed :)
Dr. Clark taught me so much about the education system and how it got to where it is now. There will be an activity at the beginning where you get to choose the people you would like to/not like to work with- NAME NAMES! I said I would be fine with anyone and got such an awful group. Trust me, if you have a good group, the class will be fine.
Dr. Clark is a great professor. Her class can be/is definitely challenging, and your group essentially determines what grade you will get in the class because everything is group work. Overall, I would love to have her as a professor again!
This class starts off with her teaching for a little while, then it becomes all group work. Good luck if you get a bad group. I didn't like how this class was set up. I would rather be graded on my work than have to rely on other people as well.
Group project heavy, make sure you find a group that cares. After a bit, she didn't really stick in the classroom and left us to our groups. The lack of structure really hit some students hard, especially with little communication about project guidelines and their deadlines. Get ready for her unique temperament.
Dr. Clark was amazing. The class is very group project-heavy, so hope you get a good group. Everyone gets graded based on how they individually did by the members of the group. Hopefully one of ur group members doesn't hate you. Easy, but pay attention and do your work.
The first half of the semester will be spent taking notes, and in general, having a regular lecture class. However, she encourages students to participate during her lectures, and will answer any questions. The other half of the semester is spent with your assigned group working on 2 large-scale projects.
I adore Dr. Clark! At first she is very intimidating, but the farther you get into the class the more you realize how great she is. She had amazing lectures that personally taught me so much. This class was definitely my favorite education class I have taken. Dr. Clark made it clear that she cared about me and my peers and wanted us to succeed.
I loved this class. Dr. Clark was a little intimating at first but after week 4 I really did start to like her and the class. When I was taking this class, she tried a new system which was a lot of group work but overall was enjoyable and I learned a lot.
Was put off by the first day being told to stand up and give your name, major, and where you are from. But from that point on it was an inclusive and freeing experience. Specifically, Spring 2024 Education in a Democratic Society.
Clark was a great teacher! She goes through phases where she says a lot of out-of-pocket, fear-mongering type of things and then totally mellows out after. Sometimes that information is completely wrong and misquoted. Once you make it through that, you should be fine! Lecture wise, she is very informational! Take good notes, open note quizzes!
Professor Clark's class is project-based, with a good mix of lecture and group work. While she can be intense at times, she's ultimately fair and passionate about the material. I found unstuck ai super helpful for managing the workload and staying on top of the group project. Overall, an engaging class if you're willing to put in the effort.
Dr Clark can be a little intimidating at first but she's honestly a great professor. It's very big group work focused class. When you are trying to figure out who you want in your group, don't go straight for your friends, go with people who will get stuff done. The work can be a lot at times, but if you have a good group it's a very easy A.
Sat in her chair in her office half the semester and did not explain anything to do with the group project.
worst professor i ever had. never gave directions for any projects, studied for hours on end only for her to cancel the last month of class and cancel what we all worked very hard studying for. talks about politics constantly and is rude/opinionated. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!!!! caught me off guard on the 1st day of class- asked who we voted for...
Class is based on a few assignments at the beginning and a group project that takes up most of the semester. If you get a good group, this class will be easy. Her attitude is very unpredictable and she can take her anger out on students and has a tendency to push her political ideologies during lectures, and if you don't agree with her good luck
Dr. Clark is not everyone's cup of tea, but she knows that. Her progressive approach to teaching means that class is heavily based on your group's timeline, as group work is roughly 80% of the semester. If you get a good group and put the work in, you will pass and get a lot out of the class. Come to class with an open mind, it is very different!
Dr. Clark stated on the first day of class that she doesn't care about our students and our lives.
she comes off as extremely harsh, but you get used to it. it is just her personality. I have enjoyed learning what she lectures. half the class is her lecturing, the other half is group project-based. If you come to class and complete everything with your group, you should do fine.
Group projects orientated! Do not fall behind. Hella work all semester. She has bad memory, use that. She grades everyone differently due to that, don't stress it. This class is all about work work and work, you can pass using Chat GPT tho so you'll be chillin.
My name is Henry Finnian Matthew Dudas. I took this class. It's tough, but it emulates being a teacher. So, the people who hate the fact that she gives huge, open-ended projects, what do you think being a teacher is like?! You need to be open to political discussions, but she will always give you full credit regardless of your alignment.
This class changed me. I've learned so much and felt truly inspired. She's tough because she cares and wants us to grow. People only hate the class because it's not an easy A, but if you don't like it, maybe rethink your major—this is what teaching is really like. she has some amazing stories so go ask for some I'll never forget her or this class.
This class was one of my favorites i've taken for education so far. It is very participation oriented and if you have a good and hard working group it'll be such a learning experience. We do have lots of discussion about politics and how they affect the education system but that is something you should be highly prepared for going into education.
Professor Clark was one of the best professors I have ever had at Kent State. They really make you think about many experiences that can happen while being a teacher with their interactive lessons and examples. No exams, but you are expected to participate and BE IN CLASS. They are intimidating at first, but as long as you listen, you'll be fine.
