Awesome professor! Very nice and helpful. I definitely recommend taking ASL 1-4 with Debbie.

If you weren't interested in ASL when you started, you were when you finished, and then went on to take more classes. The best, and I should know. I tutor all who take the other professors, and they don't know much, but those who take her do.

Debbie is a great teacher, and she makes learning sign language fun. I strongly recommend her, as some of the other teachers don't use clear signs, and are more difficult to understand. She's sweet, funny, and geniunely seems to enjoy teaching students!

Debbie is real fly. She knows her ****, she grew up with a deaf crew and has plenty of deaf friends. Many deaf people have even mistaken her for a deaf person because she signs so well. Whenever you need help, stop by her office for help and a fun talk

so she grew up around some deaf,...she is not deaf and cannot possibly be all that and a bag of dorito's; her pets in class seem to think she is but she is too clownish and unprofessional.

She is amazing! She is extremely helpful! She does her best to help everyone get a good grade!Just because she is not Deaf does not mean anything, she is a better teacher than any of the others!

Debbie is one of the best professors i have ever had. She really does care if you understand and if you are doing well.

She is hearing but very knowledgable about the deaf culture.U will also need to be up to date with your signs, because she is on the faster side. Oh & don't frick out when the paper u turn in is coverd in purple when u get it back. They r all like that :)

I absolutely loved having her for a teacher, she makes the lectures fun & her tests are fair. She in very genuine & cares about all of her students very much. She's great to have just a normal conversation with also.

I took her over the summer and it wasn't that bad until the end when everything we did was rushed. Including the final exit exam. She has helped me a lot with being able to better express myself to someone who is deaf, even if I don't know all the signs.

Great teacher works well with student, GROUP TEST ^^, only thing is she gives Voc. homework seems more like busy work then anything, but the class is fun and the teacher teachs very well nice person to talk to and very friendly and understanding.

She's an okay teacher if you don't mind being preached to or yelled at. She once called a kid an idiot in front of the entire class.

She's hilarious I loved her, her class definately isn't the easiest but if you study and ask questions you should be ok. Tests are a little tricky but you get used to it.

SHe was GREAT, Tests are not tricky! She tells you what to study then if you look at the outline it is practically word for word. She is outspoken, but that makes class fun and interesting not boring at all. Very invloved with deaf community so she can help you with any questions you have.Definatly take her classes again!!

Best professor I've ever had! I had her for ASL 1 and 2. I plan on taking her for ASL 3 and 4. She's made signing so fun for me that I've decided to either incorporate signing into my teaching career when I graduate or teach at a deaf school.

Debbie is a fantastic teacher. She made the class interesting and fun. How could the tests be any more easy. She tells you what to study and, besides the quizes, everything is MC. I am so going to take her for ASL 2.

Best teacher I have had so far. She's very animated and funny. But you are never bored in her class. Down to earth and can easily relate to students half her age. She's very modern and understanding. Gives group test and only homework is vocab that she sends to your e-mail and shows you how to copy and paste the answers. Take her for Sociology!

Deb rocks! She is an awesome teacher. She is really connected to the deaf world and is able to help you understand their culture. She is fun and modern and able to connect with her students. Great personality! Come to class and study what she tells you and you will do fine. I loved her class and am looking forward to her ASL II in the spring.

If you're into sign language, this would be a great professor to take. She knows a lot about it and she is willing to take baby steps with you for you to learn it. I wasn't really into the class, I just needed the credits... but for anyone else who's interested, go for it!

She's a great professor... anyone who rates her otherwise, isn't good enough for college. She tells it like it is... o and she doesn't allow retakes! Why? Because she drops low scores and gives points back on the tests. Did I mention that every class is completely amusing and useful. She is so fun! I have taken her for every class possible!

Awesome teacher! loved the class, definately recommend her!! Easy class... but she is not a push over so don't expect her to give you an A. if you do the homework and ready the chapter just once before the test you'll pass. She is really helpful and returns e-mails fast! trust me it saved my grade. Take her!

I had Deb for ASL II and she was awesome. This is a very difficult course and she definitely helped me get through it. She is a fair teacher and willing to help you if you make the effort. Can't wait to take more ASL classes from her in the future.

Class is fairly easy but you must study. The professor is very helpful and funny, she makes learning sign language enjoyable. I was very scared of the class before I tool it, but she helped relieve my fears. If you can take this class.

Love her!! Passionate and energized lectures and discussions. I was always happy to go to class because she is so lively and funny. no quizzes, vocab for homework, and group tests. Easy A if you pay attention and hand in work on time, plus you will learn Sociology in a fun way. Strict on turning in vocab and papers on time. Great person, so REAL.

Debbie is a great teacher, she is very passionate about signing and trys to install that in her students. Is very willing to help anyone who asks. I find her very funny, she always makes me laugh. You must study for the test and practice signing to pass class.

Debbie is passionate about sign. As long as you do the projects/assignments that she tells you to do you'll be fine. If you take debbie and if you're having problems talk to her she will help you. She is down to earth and she'll talk about pretty much anything.

She is an awesome professor! She knows a lot about deaf culture and ASL. If ASL is a passion of your, take Debbie's class. Yes, she will correct you if you are doing something wrong, but that only to make you a better signer.

Great teacher! She is the best ASL teacher at VCC and probably anywhere else. Although her tests can be extremely confusing, there are plenty of opportunities to boost your grade. She makes you think in sign language during class and that is a big help when trying to be an interpreter. If you don't take her you're an idiot.

So I don't know about some of the LAME comments here alothough we are all entitled to our opinions. Debbie is AWESOME!! Yes she can be blunt but she's honest. She give great constructive criticism and as long as you meet her expectations you'll be fine. She is the best in her field to take her!!! I highly recommend her. I've had her for all my ASL!

For those students how can't handle being told the truth, these are not the classes for you. Debbie is very straight forward, gives great constructive criticism, will stay late to help anyone who is interested in ASL. Doesn't tolerate stupidity, if you think this class is an easy A you are way wrong!

Great teacher, if you're into ASL you're going to learn a lot. Her test aren't that easy. You'll learn A LOT. Take her!! She's the best interpreter and teacher. Btw, if you don't like criticism then you're scrwed because she'll criticize you and by this you'll learn. I like her a lot, but not her tests.

Great class! Around 1-2 hrs of homework a week. She's the best of the best in sign language has many tricks and thigns, but she'll simply criticize you constructively. Great teacher, but confusing test...sometimes. Take her if you really want to learn.

Great teacher. Go everyday. Easy homework and only due every few weeks. Really helps you learn the language.

Debbie is a super fun teacher, we learn with games and group activities which really makes it interesting. there are a few homeworks and a few videos you have to submit but she basically guides you by the hand on what to do. she has been signing for over 20 years so she knows a thing or 2 about ASL. she is the reason I want to be an interpreter.

Debbie is amazing. Her teaching skill and style is awesome and if you want to learn ASL you should take her.

I took her for American Sign Language I. She has a bit of an attitude but don't take it to heart. Tests are easy if you study the outlines and are pretty repetitive. Book helps a little, but you mostly need the CD in the back for homework. I liked Drobney a lot and thought she was a great teacher.

Took her for ASL2. Debbie is head of the sign language program at valencia so she doesn't take kindly to slackers. she has a bit of an attitude but you need to be able to laugh it off. work hard, and she'll be fair. i love debbie. hw and testsfor every chapter, two videos.

Wants you to learn the material, will work hard with you. She's got quite a personality, just don't get offended easy. Her classes aren't easy, you'll have to work on it.

Great professor. She's very specific about the assessments and how one should do it. She has a bit of a temper but nothing to be scared of. She just wants whats best for her students. She wants them to succeed and be better interpreters.

Took ASL 2 with Debbie. If you want to learn TAKE HER!!! She is amazing. If you try and enjoy learning it will be easy. Just do the work and follow her instructions. She gives a great foundation to the language for beginners. She is the head of the department for a reason!

She is a difficult grader, but made sure everyone understood the material. Unlike ASL 1, the tests were very tricky. Make sure you go to Deaf Interactions. Also, she does a finger spelling assignment in the beginning of the class so make sure you know how to read her fingers. She's a fast finger speller.

Debbie is the professor you should take if you are planning on getting your interpreting degree. She is a tough grader, and is hard on her students, but she genuinely wants her students to learn. She is a sweet lady when you are one on one and if you express an interest in ASL she will love you forever. I would suggest to take her class!!

Study your material and you will do fine, but go above and beyond to get an A! She is fair, approachable, and very knowledgeable. You will learn a lot!

She is a great teacher. She is sassy and funny as hell. ASL 2 is hard you need to be ready to study. Do not skip class, if you are not learning new vocab you are taking a test. She offers a lot extra credit, do it it can save your grade. Over all I really liked her class.

This class was completely voice off which was very surprising. Debbie is hilarious though. She is very passionate about her subject and only wants to spread the love. She is caring yet tough. She will listen to you. Her grading was always behind; however, she always gave feedback and responded to emails. I am going to miss her.
