She has a unique teaching style yet she is not very clear with essay format or what she honestly expects from you as a student.

I had this prof for 105 and 106 and I think she is great. If you write well, you will get an A in her class no prob! Grades are totally based on writing ability - so if you're expecting a curve, find another professor.

She is easy. Class is fun because you debate. The relevance of these debates isnt seem until essay topics are assigned. Some people say they dont know what she "expects"...it is a freshman comp class, what do you think she expects..?

Fletcher's class was really interesting and I really learned how to write a good paper:) We actually talked about really interesting, controversial topics in a debate type of way, and it was always exciting. She's really funny and has do-able assignments

I had her for Comp 105&106, and I thought she was a very good professor, and would reccomend her to anyone. She demanded a lot, and hated repeated grammer errors, but that is expected from a College level English professor.

Very stern, will not pass up an opportunity to make you feel stupid. Class was mostly disscussion, but was very informative. In spite of her sharp tongue, I improved as a writer.

Stickler for grammar BUT if you give her your paper before it is due she will look over it and make corrections. In class discussion, some group discussion, a couple unannounced in class writings. Paper topic and length very reasonable. Work 4 the A!

Many days you will discuss topics from the reading section in class, she will mark down for grammar/spelling errors, not very clear on what she is looking for in a good paper, dont buy the Longmans Writer Book b/c you just use it for reference to if you have grammar/word use questions.

Despite the awful commments said about her I believe she is a great professor and as long as you write clearly she is very easy and reasonable. She is willing to read your paper before you turn it in and paper topics can be based on anything in your life. Great Prof!!

Don't listen to the mean comments! She's such a funny lady and she starts the most interesting discussions and debates in class. It's fun to be there and the papers are very do-able:)

Formidable intellect--absolute master of grammar, history of the English language. She will make sure that you learn things others should have taught, but didn't. You should have seen her in a mini skirt back in '77. Best gams in the whole damn school!!!!

This is the second class I have taken with her and I truly believe that she is a great and fair professor. She is willing to proofread all papers and her debates are very interesting. Be sure to participate though because even if you do well on your papers that can lower your grade. Great prof!

She's great! Made what usually is a boring class into a fun class with all the discussions about issues in the text! She's not mean, and accepts ALL opinions, she gets the class to see both sides, she actually doesn't give away what side she's on. TAKE HER!

Fletcher is hilarious. She's a fairly easy grader- she grades more on grammar than content, which is good for all of us English Majors but bad for all you other people....shes cool.

Nice lady, a little odd sometimes. Very big into the environment (tree hugger, lol) She mostly grades on grammar and spelling, but other than that not too bad. She seemed to like my writing so I'm happy with her. Don;t know if I would want to take her again though.

very nice prof., i liked her class so much although i'm not good @ writing. i learned a lot , and really made writing & reading fun. we had a workshop be4 each paper which helped so much. she makes the class fun. we had 7 papers and she dropped the lowest grade, that seems a lot of witings but well it's a comp class. highly recommended.

Fletcher is sweet! She sets aside a day before each paper is due just to look over it if you want her to. She is very helpful and the class is not hard.

I loved her class. She was very helpful. Class was full of interesting discussions on topics that are normally boring. She was very clear as to what she was looking for in all assignments. Its hard to do bad in her class.

Very nice and helpful. A lot of class discussions. She has her own opinion on things and sometimes tries and pushes those opinions on you, but other than that, she's very kind.

She's overall not a bad comp teacher you can do a lot more work in other classes, Just read the assignments and go to class she'll get you to think about things in a new light and make sure you use proper grammer on your papers and you'll be just fine

Anybody who thinks she is rude is just being sensitive. She's nice and if you need help, she is very approachable. Obvious liberal bias, so if that bothers you a lot, maybe don't take it. Interesting topics and tries to get the class involved in discussion. She lets you re-do papers for a better grade. Very clear about her rules and expectations.

Prof. Fletcher's class was awesome. She's so nice, has a good sense of humor, and there were only 5 papers, plus the final paper. No final exam. She grades fairly, if you do it at the last minute, she'll know. All around, I enjoyed her class.

I had her for distance learning. I really liked the class. It wasn't very demanding if you asked me. We only wrote 4 papers the whole semester and the rest of the time we were giving opinions on articles and participating in one online discussion a week. I would recommend her she was very helpful.

This was the second course I have taken with Professor Fletcher and although it was through Distance Learning, I still enjoyed it. We only had to write 4 papers. We could elaborate onto the first 2 for our last 2. No final exam. Required reading (1-12pgs depending on the subject) for weekly debates. I ended up with an A-.

SHE IS THEEE BEST! 4 papers total.. the first 2 are non-research then for the last 2 you can expand the first 2. I had a MWF class and most fridays we had online assignments so we didnt even have class! Also, before papers were due, there were workshop days to help with MLA and format.. very helpful. I loved her! She was fun and intriguing. She was always ready to help and there was never a dull moment in class. I wish I took her for my previous comp class. The class was never confusing and she made sure everyone understood what was happening.

I thought Professor Fletcher was fantastic. She was funny and made jokes about the reading all the time. Her essays were incredibly easy, and she encouraged people to think outside the box for their essays. She responds very well to the use of humor in essays, though even a straightforward answer to an essay prompt will easily get you an A.

I liked Fletcher a lot. She's pretty funny and very laid-back. She'll give you lots of opportunities to ask for help, both from her and from your peers. She even assigns some interesting readings. Some others in the class told me she's a tough grader, but I got A's on all four essays without too much trouble. I'd take her again.

Good professor. Will help you with your essays before they are due. The topics discussed are interesting. If you have a strong opinion on nature vs nurture bring it up when you get to it in the reading.

My final grade was an A. You need to show up to every class. I got an A- on all my papers, and a B+ on one. I got an A on my final paper, which counts as 2 papers. She curved a little too. She is big on participation, you don't need to talk all the time but say a word or two every other class. attend workshops! she drops the lowest grade

Great comp teacher. She is very helpful with papers. I would recommend her to anyone taking comp. Attendance will help your grade and so will class participation. She is so funny as well! Take her!

She's very helpful when it comes to essays. She gives "workshop" days which is one on one instructor help to revise essays. 4 essays total, has a "due date" but you revise with a group in class, take your paper home to edit, and submit next class. She seems cold at first but she's a nice professor. Uses textbook greatly, raises debate in class!

Only 4 papers and participation are graded. She does not teach, instead each class is spent discussing current issues. Attendance is mandatory, although you would not miss anything important. Grading is VERY strict. Even in grammar and punctuation are correct, she marks you down for things she personally does not like to read on papers.

Boring class, but better than it being tough. Didn't learn anything about english, more like a discussion class. Very easy. Just do a few essays, and you're good. No finals.

Personally, this was my first time having her as a teacher. Although, so far my class has only had one assignment essay, she sat down and looked through it with me telling me what I could do to improve. Discussions during class are based off the current issues book, and they are really interesting to me. So far, she is one of my favorite teachers.

For an English class, she mainly focused on discussions rather than writing all hour. Papers were short and to the point. No novels! Not hard at all, just do what is assigned and you're good to go

Despite my hate for writing, this class was the best composition class I have ever taken. Fletcher made the class really enjoyable and interesting. No tests, the class is solely based on interesting discussions (so participation is mandatory) and five 500-word papers. She is willing to read all your essays and give feedback. Grades very fairly.

Always there to help you. Will work with you before papers to ensure you succeed. 5 papers total, no other homework. If you miss more than 4 days of class, you don't pass (unless you have a good reason).

She is an awesome professor. very passionate about what she does and is always willing to sit down with you and help and edit your papers. There are a lot of class discussions so participation matters. the papers are fun topics of your choice and she gives wonderful feed back. You should sign up for her class! you will probably enjoy it.

She's opinionated and biased but that's why her class is fun. The class is basically debate on controversial topics. 3 papers + a final which is a research on one of the papers. I got A's, but some students didn't do as well. You MUST go to class, do not miss! Be creative and double check papers for grammar before turning in!!! (she will for you)

Professor Fletcher is a great teacher. The class discussions really get you thinking and help you to pick a topic for your essays. The best part was being able to pick your own topic for your essays. I would definitely take this class again!

Honestly one of the best professors in the entire school.

Fletcher gives good corrections. Overall, the class was simple with four papers and daily discussions. Reminds me of a watered down AP Language class.
