do NOT take her class. she is awful at teaching, does not explain anything clearly, and will make you feel STUPID if you ask a question. please trust me when I say she is the absolute WORST professor I have ever had in my educational career. a few students and myself have actually talked about reporting her to the dean of mathematics. I took AP Statistics in high school and made an A. Finished this course barely pulling a passing grade.. If you go to her office hours, you will leave more confused than you were before. Extremely vague in what she wants on tests/homework/projects. Very condescending. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Have to take this as a prereq for Math 220 and I HATE it. She doesn't help at all, even when I've gone to office hours, and even though you're in groups, you basically teach yourself the entire semester. You have weekly quizzes online and so much homework. Not always hard concepts but it's not an easy class. SWITCH OUT IF YOU CAN.

Deb is honestly one of the worst professors I've had here at JMU. She has had 2 classes she actually taught all semester.. Other than that you teach yourself. Then take a quiz by yourself, then take the same quiz with your team. Godforbid you ask more than your one permitted question per class or she'll basically have a heart attack.

At first I did not think she would be a bad teacher, but that was quickly changed. She is very condescending and harsh. She probably actual taught us something a total of 3 times. Definitely not a good teacher if you have never taken stats before. try and avoid if at all possible.

Debra is a horrible professor. She gives out informational packets and expects you to know them by heart by the next class. She claims that she teaches the harder subjects of Statistics but she never did while I was in class. She is very condescending when you ask for help. Do not take this class with her if you don't have to. She's horrible.

Absolutely horrible! doesn't teach anything and expects you to know everything. she even told the class she knows statistics is hard and she didn't fully understand it until years after she studied it. she doesn't answer your questions and she loves to change when things are due in canvas from pm to am so they will be late and receive a 0.

She's incredible nasty all the time. If you have a legitimate question, she'll berate you about how stupid you are. She offers very little help, and for a basics math class, she makes it excessively hard. I end up having to teach the people in my group how to do it because her lecturing and assignments don't teach you anything. Don't take her.

Very unclear in the beginning as to how her class works. She makes you read the book to learn a new topic, and then quizzes you on it for a grade, makes you take a group quiz on it for a grade, and THEN teaches it to you while doing in-class practice. Seemed a bit backwards to me. She means well, but if you can, pick a DIFFERENT professor.

Professor Hall is an extremely tough grader and she does not care about your learning. She cares about memorization only. If you ask her a question she answers in a way to make you feel stupid instead of actually helping. All quizzes are group based so if you have a bad group you are screwed. I've never seen a professor so unwilling to help students. She wrote the coursepack for the class and it is not useful at all. Quizzes pretty much every class. Tests are impossible. If you ask her questions she treats you like an idiot. She is an understanding person but not a good teacher. Most work is online, and team quizzes in class with individual online.

She once told me that the answer I had for a project question was correct, but then marked it wrong. When I confronted her she wouldnt take credit for it.

This is by far the worse class I have ever taken. While Professor Hall is a nice person her class is absolutely ridiculous and I would avoid it at all costs if you can. This class is a flipped classroom approach, but when you ask her for guidance on work she simply laughs and moves on. AVOID!

She is extremely rude and mean in class, laughs at you, tells you "this is super confusing you won't ever get it" and when you ask her to repeat something she says "I'm on autopilot I can't repeat what I just said".

This class would have been easy if it was taught by someone who actually knew how to teach. She takes easy concepts and twists them to how she wants to see them. Avoid this class with this professor. We went through the lectures extremely slow, and it was very hard to pay attention because of how long and boring it was. She grades WAY too harshly and your answers have to be EXACTLY like the explanations she presents in class. This class was so much harder than necessary for no good reason.

To put it lightly, Debra is exceedingly difficult to deal with. Her expectations for an online 100 level math class exceed those that I've completed as an Engineering major. She is inconsiderate, and refuses to take accountability for a class she is getting paid to teach, citing her annoyance with her students reaching out. Avoid her at all costs.

Avoid at all costs. She literally does not understand taking a math course can be hard as it is. I have made mistakes before like accidentally putting a comma after a 2 when it wasn't needed or rounded my answers before the final answer and was off by .001, and she didn't give me credit. Professor Hall is the WORST professor I have ever had. told us in class that the homework was NOT what the exams/tests were on (they are worth 30% and the FINAL is worth 20%), just reads off notes and gets upset with Qs. The class was graded primarily on a project and test and the project was awful, I'm still confused about what we were supposed to do. I took this class thinking it wouldn't be that bad despite the bad reviews, Debra is the worst teacher I have ever had and is absolutely infuriating to work with. I wish I did my research before taking this class. She is very particular with how things are done and if you miss just one little direction she'll give you a zero on the whole assignment. She also had trouble using Canvas which made her Canvas page, as well as her class, very confusing. Avoid this class y'all.

I've been a good student in Math since I was little, and getting into this class and having tis professor teach so awfully has made me hate it. I've never had a math grade be so low because a teacher cannot teach. The worst professor I've ever dealt with to be honest. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone.

I am 5 weeks into this class. I did not listen to the other ratings and just took the class. I had a problem with the exam and came to her UPSET asking for help. The professor posted assignments hours before they were due. She would post announcements in the middle of the night and attempt to contact me on Saturdays and Sundays. She was disorganized and hard to follow during lectures. The disorganization of this class made me feel overwhelmed and kept me from doing well on the assignments I was given.

I highly recommend not taking this professor. She lacks awareness of technology and this results in extreme paranoia that students are cheating. She makes accusations of this without evidence. This professor constantly talks about her personal issues about health conditions and displays a condescending tone toward students.

She is the worst professor in the entire world. She is a disgrace to JMU as a whole. To be honest, I don't even know why JMU keeps her as a professor. AVOID AT ALL COSTS BECAUSE YOU WILL FAIL.

This professor hasn't a clue in the world as to how to govern an online college math course. She entirely lacks the ability to do anything technological, AS AN ONLINE PROFESSOR. Exam questions are worded extremely confusing with glaring inconsistency. There is no wiggle room in this course the pace is extremely slow yet somehow equally confusing.

She is absolutely awful, don't make my mistake and ignore the reviews. I strongly dislike her with a passion, she makes everything so difficult its so hard to work with her there's 2000 things going on every week. She also has a vision disability but teaches online...? So so terrible its not worth the pain, I would do anything to go back and drop.

Try to avoid taking her at all cost. I read the reviews and ignored them since it was an online class. Move around your schedule if you have to, DO NOT TAKE HER. Tips if you do take class: Print out all her notes, print and fill out every worksheet she assigns. Tape them all into a notebook, organized by chapter. Exams are open note.

AVOID THIS CLASS! So much homework and all over the place, could never find anything from how unorganized everything was, I didn't know how to use the calc. and when I asked she would not help. When people asked questions she would get catch an attitude. Tests are super hard! BUT open note so write as much notes as possible!

Avoid 105 with professor hall. She does not know how to use technology yet she teaches an online course. Her lectures were extremely boring which made them very hard to pay attention. She did not teach any of the material on the exams, you had to teach yourself. However, the exams are open note so be sure to print/fill in the notes that she posts.
