Mrs. Hill may be skilled at teaching lower-division math classes, but teaching calculus is not her cup of tea: You have to see her in her office hours to get any sort of help. She rolls a die to see whether we turn in our hw, take a group quiz, or an individual quiz, which is very frustrating, if you spend 5 hours doing your hw.

I didn't have a good experience with Mrs. Hill. I felt like she really taked down to the class in her lectures and she wasn't very helpful with homework. It was also frustrating that she lectured after tests instead of letting the class out early like most teachers. On a positive note she usually gave helpful study guide before tests.

Well, I thought she was fantastic. Her white-board-color-coded lectures break everything down and are amazingly helpful. The hw may seem like a lot, but if you read how to score you'll see you only need to do 75% of the problems for an A. You can drop the two lowest quiz scores and turn in one hw late w/out penalty. Study and go to the math lab

Such a helpful professor. Math is difficult for me. At one point when I was stuck, she showed me 5 different ways to do 1 problem until she found the way that made sense to me. She loves math, and loves teaching people who want to learn. Don't be afraid to ask her questions, make sure you show up to EVERY class on time, and you will do well.

Lectures arent clear. Learned more from watching other lectures online and reading. Her grading criteria is misleading. Expect to lose points for 'neatness' even if you know the material. Misleading about the # of problems on tests. Tells us 5 , then labels a question a,b,c,d and calls it 1 problem. Had a B until the last few weeks. 45% final avg

Great professor! Toughest Calc class, but if you work at it, you'll pass no problem. Final exam average was low, though she did curve it to help out. The final and exams were exactly what I expected, mostly middle-of-the-road problems. Not unanswerable, but did make you think. She alludes to what you need to know on the tests. Would recommend!

Teaches from slides and barely does any examples. Says everything is review. Don't take this class if you don't have time to learn this stuff on your own. I regret taking this class.

She is nitpicky in a way that will prepare you for higher-level math, but she is too extreme. Forget one little vector sign over your r? -1/2 pt. Put a minus sign instead of a plus sign at the beginning of your problem? You lose all credit for whatever part of the question came afterward.

Debra keeps the class structured; she puts stress on quizzes, encourages homework, and reminds you to work hard - which is more than appreciated. Her pickiness in notation only helped me in the long run, and although her lectures went off on tangents every now and then, she makes sure to power through all the material. Great teacher overall

Everyday there is an assignment due the. A mini quiz, then a quiz to cover multiple sections. she gives weekends off. She is always there saying good job or sorry to see you didn't pass can I help you? I tried my hardest, but needed tutoring to pass! I am not very good at math and so the online lectures weren't enough. Dont fall behind, you will not be able to continue until past homework is finished. Very consistent due dates. Wonderful teacher hard work! Apply yourself and you will survive.

I took a basic online algebra class. Overall I had to teach myself and attend tutoring but that was expected. She marked me down on the most ridiculous things including not having a line go EXACTLY through a point (even if it was off by a hair). One of the most nitpicky graders I've ever come across, with instructions often being unclear on tests.

I wish I could take her all the way up in math. The notebook that she assigns is very important to her! If you are on the brink of a grade and you impress her with your notebook (i.e. by following her directions to the letter on it) you'll get that grade you want. :) I was at 88.1% and she pulled me over to 90%.

This class was challenging, but you WILL learn. It might seem like a big load at times, but you'll find yourself really enjoying the class. This class is not your typical math class, it has a creative edge to it and very group oriented. If you enjoy doing creative projects, are a hands on worker, and enjoy socializing this is the math class for you

Debra is an excellent teacher. She really cared about our learning math and connected with us as individuals. It was 15 years ago that I took her class. Looking back it was a turning point in my life, and started me toward a great career in data science.

This is the worst teacher I've ever had in college. I could not keep up with the outrageous amounts of homework she gives. I almost failed my other class because of the amount of her hw. She does not lecture properly, just assigns hw that you have to find how to do in the book . Does not answer questions clearly. No thank you. Avoid at all costs.

This teacher is a nice teacher. Although, if you were to talk to her about your grade, she would be one to brush it off. She grades tests very hard (which is why I'm struggling) and does not answer questions in a way that will help me understand the material. She lets us socialize a lot and gives us sweets whenever.

Tough grader. She's not very good at explaining things, and takes points off for trivial things. Tests are 80% of your grade, and there's a cumulative final. But the 10% of credit that is homework will take up enough time to fill a 6-unit class. It's insane. If you take her, get ready to learn from Khan Academy. She's a very pleasant person, though

I usually love math, but taking this class with Hill was TERRIBLE. Hardest and worst class i've taken. Her lectures are ok and makes you think you understand the material, but then her exams are INSANE. The questions are nothing close to what the homework/lecture problems were. Everybody in class got C or D on every exam with the exception of 2 ppl

The teacher herself is very lovely and sweet. However, she grades extremely hard, refuses to grade on a curve (the class average on tests are usually D's), and the amount of homework we have to do is insane. The homework is completely different than what we learn in class, and the tests aren't similar to either the lecture nor homework.

Lots of homework. Not very helpful, basically forces you to only get help from TA's, which isn't necessarily bad but just goes along with my next point, she doesn't want to help. She does her quick lessons, often which don't really help, and the rest of the class she makes you work with your group. Almost seems like she doesn't want to do her job.

You can resubmit things for better grades & no penalty for late work, but she grades very hard. You can get correct answers, and show work but regularly get a 50% on a test, even when she can be quoted as saying things like, "it's fine if you solve this another way." It is really discouraging to get things right and constantly have very low scores.
