helpful professor, but rather boring. tries really hard to entertain the class by using methods of interactive learning but falls flat. easy but boring teacher.
if you want to be bored and treated like a high school student then take her. her tests are hard and they mimble around the topic. she doesn't TEACH. she just talks. 85% of the people in my class feel this way. i have nothing against her, cuz she's a very kind person but as a teacher she just sucks. you will force yourself to go to her class.
This teacher is very interesting and tries to relate the concepts to real life. This class is pretty challenging, but you will do fine if you read and go to lectures. She is also very willing to help students during her office hours. I recommend her!
Hard class. Great professor. You'll learn a lot because she has you do activities to help you remember. Also, a lot of group work is done but aids you in remembering important concepts for the test. Difficult teacher sure, but not boring. Very nice and easy to talk to and very passionate about helping students. Highly recommend if you're not lazy.
She is a great professor. Extremely helpful. Its not an easy A you will have to do work in the class and for the lab projects. Make sure you pick a good group, you will be stuck with them. Gives you the notes, just follow along and add anything you think you need to. She gives a lot of tests, but they are straight forward. I fully recommend her.
Malmberg is an excellent young professor that is very passionate about Child Development. She is a generous grader and gives fairly easy, straightforward MC/TF exams. There are a ton of small assignments that will monopolize your time academically. Definitely take her BUT be prepared to work.
very professional and nice
She's OK. Pretty boring and she makes you do the most tedious and retarded groupwork. 4 tests and she drops one. All powerpoint Lectures. Her Lab and lecture grade are completely different. LAB is easier! Get a good lab group otherwise you are F'd. She's ridiculously nice but treats you like a high school student and still takes attendance.
She is definitely not an easy A...you will have to work for your grade. But she doesn't try to trick you- the tests are straightforward and if you've been attending class and reading, you will be fine. She makes class more enjoyable than just lectures- lots of youtube videos! In 350 you'll learn a lot of things applicable to everyday life.
She is great! There is a lot of work, but the tests are really straightforward and she keeps lecture interesting and relevant with tons of videos and demonstrations. If you go to class and pay attention (and crack the book to study for the tests) you will be fine. Pick a good group for the observations, because you will be working with them a lot!
Is is one of the worst teachers at CSUN. I dont know what these people are talking about but she gives WAYYYYYY to much work and she doesnt grade them. Her TA's do it all. she gives 9 pappers to write out the whole semster and she is the wrote grader. I really dont recommend her to any one!!!!!!
She is awesome and so helpful! You do have to work hard in her class, but it's college! (Come on!) Grading is very fair and if you go to office hours, she is very willing to work with you. I assume that a college student who can't spell the word "paper" would do poorly in the class, but I don't think that's Malberg's fault. She's great!
Uses "Tasty distractors" one answer is more right than the other one by a word or so. Yet tells you not to memorize... Class got reviewed 4 times due to all the complains from students. Hardest class in my entire Education. She just wrote a book so she expects perfect grammer. If you take her I hope you are an English major.
Professor Malmberg is a wonderful professor. Easy to talk to and she is very willing to help. Tests are definitely not easy and aren't all about memorizing; they are conceptual. She teaches her classes like grad classes. Don't expect an easy A but she is one of the best professors on campus. I would recommend her to people that are hard working.
She is a wonderful proffesor. She knows her stuff very well. There are 4 exams and 1 final. She is a hard grader for papers so make sure to review your papers very closely. Also make sure to read the textbook. I highly recommend her. She is awesome!
HER TESTS ARE HARD!!! I read the book and came to class and still got low grades on tests. There's quizzes every week, a paper, and a cumulative exam. She piles on homework and reading, stay away from this professor if you want your sanity intact.
Really great prof!! One of CSUNs best. Class is definitely not easy and so much studying is necessary, but a good grade is doable. My only complaint...tests are pretty hard. Even with reading chapters before lecture, attending lecture, studying, etc., I couldn't get higher than a B. Super sweet and very helpful.
This class was taught by both her and Professor Rutchick, I am not sure if it was because of him but the class was not too difficult all you had to do was the reading and attend lectures and getting an A was very do able. She was an AMAZING professor and for whatever reason i grasped onto the concepts she taught much better than i did rutchicks.
Very easy class to pass. She probably is a nice person, but I didn't see that at all. Would recommend another teacher seeing as this class is an easy pass from anyone!!
She high expectations of her students and tries in anyway she can to help them succeed. She is so helpful and so clear that you acutally have to try to fail the class. Ask her questions, she is more than happy to answer any question you have and won't make you feel stupid for asking. Gives lots of real world examples. Take her class, she's great.
One of the BEST professors ever! She is so helpful and tries to help her students as much as possible. Very friendly.
Clear, approachable, and with a passion for what she does. Towards the end of the semester she left due to pregnancy. This was a bit unsettling for us, but her TA's were AMAZING & kept us on track. Her replacement was great too.
Really helpful professor, as another person said she had to leave due to maternity leave. But she had a wonderful replacement lined up and fantastic TAs who helped teach us a lot towards the end. Not an easy class, you have to work for the grade you want but it is so worth it. I learned so much in this class and found it to be my favorite class.
Professor Malmberg is fantastic. She is enthusiastic and kind. She is very well informed and tends to be reasonable in grading and with expectations of learning as well. She also is a lot more clever than she lets on. There is no fooling this professor. There is a"no electronics" policy, so you'll have to live without your phone for an hour or so.
Best professor at csun
She is so sweet! I loved her and I would take her again. She is very down to earth. Her tests are moderate. You need to incorporate the learned material, so you really need to understand. She gives extra credit at the end. She has Question of the day worth 10 points overall at the end. 2 easy papers. cumulative final 50Q. Grades on time. Take her!
shes not great but shes not terrible. we didn't have any papers, but shes a stickler for attendance and participation. likes to show videos. not the most helpful but seems mostly nice and maybe shes more helpful during office hours
Super easy online class, just a bunch of short quizzes to take. There's only 5 questions max on each quiz and you can't get lower than 100 or 90 on each one of them. Took this class for fall and gives a pretty extended deadline until December to complete all the quizzes.
Dr. Malmberg was my other favorite teacher that I had this semster! Im so glad that I was able to take her my first semester at this school! She is very clear, assigns no papers, just 4 midterms and a final but honestly, if you show up to class every time, read the book which isnt that long, and just pay attention to her lectures, you will pass.
4 exams & a Final. I didnt purchase the book and am passing with a B! Study her powerpoints & take good notes. no extra credit. does lil attendance quizes!
Easy class with extended deadlines. Just do the quick quizzes when they open up. Provides you with a lot of knowledge regarding the field. Quizzes are short, professor always in contact with students.
5 sections, 4-5 quizzes for each, all based on short videos you watch. Extra credit is available for some of the sections. Failing is honestly if you don't do any this course is straight forward and easy.
She is a really good teacher. I really enjoy her videos, and she is really funny. The class is easy, but you have to work for it. Take her, I promise you won't regret it.
I was surprised how much I loved this class. It was so helpful and she was so funny. Definitely take it with her!
Online courses are usually my favorite because you can go at your own speed and Professor Malmberg has my vote. This class had five sections, but within them were helpful life learning sections. If you jot down notes and take the quiz right after each section you will do just fine.
This was an online class. It was very informational. I wouldnt want to take it in person though. Online was perfect. It was easy. Just read the text or watch the video and answer the questions. Simple. Easy. Pass or no pass.
It's such an easy online class! the criteria is so clear. it's such an informative class, she has lots of resources for her students. she cares for her students. there are 5 sections to complete, within those sections you have easy videos to watch or articles to read and then you have a quiz after each part. Go at your own pace, but DONNOT procrasti
Prof Malmberg is a really good professor. 301 is not hard just read and watch videos. you can get the whole class done, like I did, in a week. Its all opened for you to do. easy class if you want a fifth class. Cant wait to take her for another Psychology class.
Very easy A. Professor Malmberg releases EVERY assignment at the beginning so you really have to pace yourself but I personally love this kind of structure. Do the readings, do the quizzes, and you are guaranteed an A. No gimmicks, or tricks, just literally do the work and you are DONE.
Psych 351 is pretty hard, she does not give us study guides.. the questions are really hard, and no office hours. Overall, its a fun and interesting class, but good luck getting an A in this class. Even with all of the readings it really hard to get A, specially if you have test anxiety.
Malmberg is sweet, hilarious, and does her best to help. However, her lectures are VERY vague, and only brush upon topics. Most of the learning is up to you and if you go to her office hours. Her exams are 30 point conceptual exams. Lowest exam score is dropped, but still a considerably a hard class to get an A in unless you work in the ABA field.
This is an ABA class. You should only take this if you are an ABA major. I would avoid this class if you are not part of the major & if your GPA is on the line. There are no study guides. The lecture slides are very minimal. Exams are comprehension questions. availability during office hours is very scarce. Online reading, no books, no mercy. GL!
This professor has fairly easy lectures and tests. No papers. She hates electronics in the class but expects us to take random participation that only happen in class electronically. The material isn't hard. She loves to talk about herself which is most of her lectures especially the first week of class. No book. Just her talking and talking.
All you have to do is study, I'm not sure why the last few reviews are saying it's difficult. There are no study guides but you just read the powerpoints and the extra readings/blog posts she provides. It was a bit unorganized but I know it won't be that way next semester. I would 100% recommend, and I am NOT in the ABA field. Easy for everyone!
4 conceptual exams (drops lowest) & final. The exams were very difficult. Participation points online quizzes in class. Very vague powerpoints, no study guides, lectures consisted of her talking about herself all the time. No papers. She makes exams harder than they should be & knows it. Some group work. DO NOT take her unless you really like ABA.
PSY301 is quite simple, but extremely helpful. It just teaches you what it is that you're studying and what your options are. It really helped me solidify certain decisions regarding graduate programs (based on the information we learned in the course). It's self-paced but I recommend adhering to Dr Malmberg's recommended schedule.
Five sections, you will learn about the field of psychology and what your options are, it is really helpful. The class itself is self-paced, but it is better if you were to work according to Dr. Malmberg's recommended deadlines and all. Some of the videos were a bit boring, but all of them were extremely helpful.
Fun course. Everything is due on one date, so start early. There's a lot of use in the articles she provides. Very sweet Professor! Would recommend.
Takes too long responding to emails! Exam questions as well as quiz questions are difficult to understand at times, simply due to wording. This class was the most difficult class pre and during Covid-19. Constantly worried about my grade, because she never updated canvas (could be due to circumstances). Other than that she works with you.
I finished her class a month and a half before everything was due. You can do it on your own time and it's C/NC so your grade doesn't show. As long as you make a 70% average you pass. If you skim the readings and actually watch the videos her quizzes are super easy. I also really enjoyed all of the information she gives about the psych major.
This course has given me invaluable amounts of information. It was self-paced and her courses were not stressful to understand. She has gone above and beyond by providing us so many extra resources that we Psychology majors can glance at as well as having her office hours. Take her. You won't regret it.
It really makes me sad that she teaches the other courses I wanted to take. Just find a professor who is willing to dedicate time to her students and not have teacher assistants teach whole class.
Prof Malmberg is the nicest woman ever, but I was super disappointed when she didn't reply to my emails asking for additional info/access to resources. This class is the easiest A you'll ever take, but don't expect any kind of guidance from anyone at CSUN. You're on your own!
Easy A class, but you have to pay attention to detail and complete assignments on time. You will most likely finish this class early which is good- but it also is only 1 unit. 100% recommend this class.
Dr. M is amazing! Hands down the best professor I have ever had! I had her in both 301 and 351 and I would take any class she offers. She is so caring and friendly and she puts so much time and effort into her students. One of the most amazing professors at CSUN, so if you get a chance to take one of her classes, do it! Her classes are great!
This class and professor were great! Very easy if you do the readings and watch the videos. Super fun and informative class, I definitely recommend.
ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS CLASS! EASY 99%! I finished all the assignments in the first month of class, they're all open to do whenever you want, do it and get the class out of the way! There's a bunch of videos to watch and just answer questions on so pay attention! I wish she had more classes like this for upper division! So happy with the class & her
Easy A. Grade consists of quizzes after watching videos or reading articles. I finished within the first few weeks because you can work ahead. Information provided was useful. Prof is warm and organized. I am hoping to take another class with her before I graduate I liked her so much.
Worst professor ever. U r not going to learn anything.
This professor is very understanding and will respond to you emails.
Hi, I liked Debra Margaret. Just so many videos to watch, to answer questions after watching videos. The class is really helpful, and you learn a lot from the videos. She is not easy to catch her by email or through the canvas, so be aware that she will not respond you the same day. So, far she is not difficult in grading.
Dr. Malmerg is a caring and helpful professor here at CSUN. This course was organized wonderfully and what she expects of you is very clear. Just make sure to do the work, on time, and you will be fine. I would love to take another course of hers!
This intro course is very helpful and organized with all of the breakdowns of modules. You can practically get all of the assignments done in the first two weeks, as she sets up the deadline as recommendations instead of the one single date that they are all due. Dr.Malmberg is a really sweet professor!
Easy class, you have modules that are completed at your own pace but have a due date after a month it has opened. The professor is so organized with the material which makes it even more fun. Great information is presented within this class.
I took her class fully online, it is self paced. Super easy all you have to do is watch the Youtube videos and take the quiz that is based off the video. I finished her class all in one month. You should have no trouble in her class but if you do she always asks for us to reach out to her if we need.
Amazing class and informative. It's one unit and all the modules are open so I was able to complete the whole course in just four days and spend the rest of the semester focusing on my other classes. The only issue is she doesn't respond to e-mails well, but I haven't had to reach out about any class-related issues so that shouldn't be a problem!
This course, while the concepts were easy to understand, was quite difficult. Each week there are multiple quizzes accompanied by readings, lectures, and videos. Dr. Malmberg is quite easy to reach and willingly provides help whenever you need it. There was a bit too much work but it's doable if you manage your time and classes well!
Super informative class and highly recommend!. The professor is very sweet and (it takes a while to get an email response) she really put a lot of effort into the class. The class is super simple and can be finished in a few days. She also leaves the class open so you have access to the info forever!
This Professor is really kind and straightforward with her expectations via her syllabus. The class contains a large quantity of mini assignments that are accompanied by videos to watch or course readings nothing hard at all. If you wanted you could get this class done within the first week of the semester she allows you to work ahead. Take her.
This class was really straightforward and mostly due on your own time. For some reason all the work is due more than a month before finals so have that in mind. Some of the information is outdated and some of the quizzes are a bit tricky. As long as you read the syllabus and do the modules you will be fine.
There is so much information in this class which is overwhelming but necessary to know. She gives us material to read as well as videos to watch and short easy quizzes at the end of each section. Do all the work and it's impossible to fail.
Was gonna wait till semester ends to do this but I'm so frustrated! Never has readings or lecture slides on Canvas. Says she'll put test grades in and then doesn't for days. People ask questions in class & she says "I can't answer that right now". Total course grades aren't open all semester. Blamed the class "not studying" for low avg on exam.
She lectures well but doesn't cover a lot in her lecture, you have to do the readings to do good on exams. There is 5 exams last is cumulative. Her modules are very unorganized, takes forever to input grades even w/ 3 TAs, overall grade was never available till end of semester. She was always so busy felt like our class was a last priority.
350 characters is way too little to describe how disorganized, ineffective, and how much of a disappointment Dr. Malmberg's class was. As a student, I never felt that she was supportive in the learning environment. As an aspiring educator, I hope I never make the same mistakes she made. Ultimately the best part of this class was leaving this review
PROS: Optional attendance CONS: Doesn't know how to use Canvas. Doesn't answer emails on time. Doesn't update grades on time. Doesn't post class material on time. Won't answer questions in class. Doesn't teach concepts effectively. No study guides for exams. No textbook to refer to. Spends more time rambling than lecturing. Doesn't follow syllabus
At first I did not think she was too bad, as the semester went on I thought otherwise. Her TA's / grad students were the ones mainly responding to office hours, felt like we were not one of her priorities which okay I get but we often felt like we were put in the back burner. When the class did bad on an exam she also tried blaming us completely.
Professor M. was the second worst professor I have had at CSUN. Professor M. would spend most of lecture time yapping about how busy her schedule is, would not come prepare with a lesson plan, and would change the syllabus very often to fit her schedule. PSY 351 was her last priority, as reading material, and modules were always uploaded late.
I have nothing to say about this course, based on the ratings Id say take the online accelerated version. Honestly, she comes off as "SUPER BUSY" so it's a little off putting, but I think she's okay. Everything was posted on canvas and opened as you went through the modules. The work is easy, but there are a lot of tedious assignments.
I'd never take her class again. She does not respond to emails and doesn't grade anything until the semester is over. Winter session is over and my work hasn't been graded. Time and time again modules were locked as due dates approached. She's unorganized and gives her TA's all the work. TA's are good with recorded lectures but that's it.
Prof. Malmberg's class is very straightforward. Just watch the lectures and read the articles assigned and you will be fine. :)
CADV major but needed a 1 unit class. Posts everything all at once, so I was able to complete the entire class assignments in 2 days and not have to worry about this class the rest of the semester. All it is is videos about the psych department at csun and taking short quizzes about the vids. Tedious work but easy. Can realistically finish in 1 day
Dr. Malmberg was very accessible outside of the online class environment. Her syllabus is clear. Just be mindful of the deadlines; aside from that, this course was full of information for the PSY major.
This class is exceptionally easy, thanks to Prof. Malmberg. class is broken into 5 canvas modules with videos and quizzes on said videos. the entire course can be finished in maybe a weekend, and is very simple and boring. most of the content is very simple, just trying to motivate students to network and use their resources for the future.
This Professor is very easy to follow along with. Take every opportunity you can to complete assignments as fast as you can and don't wait til the deadline. She is an amazing communicator and her class is very easy to complete as long as you do the readings.
Took her for PSY 301 and it was easy. Grading based off of minnie quizzes that you get the answerrs from watching videos and short readings that she provides. I took her fully online class and it was easy to follow. All you have to do is complete assignments on time, which can be done in 3 days. No book required or attendance.
