Wonderful teacher. Very encouraging with many wise words. After a 64 on my first test, she encouraged me that I could still pull an A, while I did not believe her, she was right, her open book tests are my new best friend. She understands that no one in the class will go into the sociology field so she is very respectful of that.

This is an awesome teacher. Very thought provoking. Class is cake if you just show up. Automatic A's on Gordon Term paper if you do a certain task. You still have to write the 3000 words though. Such a fun teacher.

I really liked this class! Ms Marshall has a great personality. She watches movies in class which help build knowledge and understanding of the sociological problems in america and throughout the world. The class was enjoyable and i actually learned something. As long as you show up and do the work your guaranteed an A!I highly recomend her class.

Good sociology teacher. Explains material well and keeps it from being boring. Shows good documentarys in class. She teaches with a very liberal point of view, so as long as that doesn't bother you she's great. PLUS, NO TRICK QUESTIONS ON THE TESTS!!! Everything is very straight-forward. Overall, really enjoyed the class.

If you are a Democrat you will have no problems if you are a Republican keep your mouth shut and just do the work. The content matter is great but slanted. If you do the work you will get an A.

funny, makes jokes a lot, but gets to the point. tests aren't hard if you study and everything she says will be on it is actually on it. feminist liberal, so don't take if you're conservative or closed-minded, because she loves to debate. don't have to show up if you email her the day before. she'll mark you there anyway. lots of extra credit.

Very helpful and interesting professor. She understands that most people in class will not become sociologists and respects that. Her tests come directly from the book. Professor prefers david lee roth over the other guy from the 80s. More than happy to tell conservatives why they are wrong.

Easy class, however she tends to drift away and gets caught up with politics, and tortures her students on listening why Bill Clinton was the best President ever in history and why u should be a moronic inbecile and vote democrat. Other than brainwashing weak and clueless students into voting blue, she should stick to the matter.

Excellent instructor. I found her ability to debate and discuss differing political viewpoints on sociological issues refreshing, and her skill at defending her viewpoints admirable. As far as the class, there's no excuse for not getting an A. The assignments are varied and interesting, the tests are straightforward. Do the work, pass the class.

She takes Socioly very seriously and she expect her students to do the same. Believes her class is the most important and she doesnt understand that students have other classes.She also is very bad at explaining what she wants in her writing assignments, but expects you to do exactly what she wanted and if you dont she will fail you. Dont take her.

Really helpful, makes getting an A easy if you are committed to doing the work. If writing isn't for you, do ALL extra credit.(A lot is offered) She gives her midterm question bank and puts notes for EVERYTHING online. Very interesting and fun. A+++

AWESOME TEACHER!!!!! very organized and TONS I mean Tons!! of extra credits, if you do the mandatory paper which is 80% of the class then you're good to go. there's a service learning option that you can earn up to 20pts which means you won't even have to do so well on the test to get an A!!!!

Mrs. Marshall was one of the best teachers I've ever had. I had to retake Sociology because I FA-ed Dr. Wei's class and let me just tell you, this class was 1000 X'S BETTER! She used video's, class activities, and games to teach the class. I think she only lectured on 3 different occasions. SHE ALSO GIVES LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT! ;-)

Well, all I have to say is that 80% of your grade for the entire class is a 12 page research paper. You can split the paper up into smaller projects but probably won't get as good of a grade. Do the extra credit!! It's a good class and she makes it fun. You'll enjoy it if you show up.

She tries to scare you by saying she is a really hard teacher, but don't worry yourself. There are tons of extra credit opportunities and overall its a very laid back class. Your grade is based on a writing assignment, and there are no quizes. Midterms and finals are only ten points. What more could you want? Cool teacher!

Going into the class I had tons of friends telling me that sociology is incredibly boring and that I was going to hate it, but being in this class has certainly proved them wrong! She's very helpful, and gives tons of extra credit! Only thing she's tough on is deadlines. TAKE THIS CLASS!

AMAZING teacher. Try and you will do well. LOTS of extra credit opportunities. GO TO CLASS though. Read chapter summaries. She knows her stuff and understands you have other classes. 4 papers to write the whole semester and one midterm. If you have an A, you don't have to take the final. Very understanding if you really care about your grade.

Before I came into this class was a naive capitalist ego-centric republican who thought that the world revolved around the US. Boy was I wrong. She opened my eyes to so many injustices in our own country, and other countries that you don't get told about. She really opens your eyes to whats going on.

She is a great teacher. Although I had to drop her class she was fun to have for 5 weeks. Her grading on papers though is vvvveeeeeeerrrrrrrryyyyyyy hard. MUST know how to write.

If you like social sciences, have an open mind, and enjoy classes heavy on discussions, do yourself a favor and take Ms. Marshall's sociology class. The syllabus may seem overwhelming but just keep yourself on track and pay attention, and you'll do fine.

This is an amazing class! The only class I ever look forward to going to. She is an awesome teacher who knows what she is talking about. She comes off super intimidating but as long as you do the work she is a sweetheart and always willing to help. If you dont know how to write and MLA format paper dont take her. Do the extra credit!

Enjoyed this class. She is tough on attendance,deadlines, and MLA writing assignments. You know from day 1 what she expects and as long as you follow her schedule you will do well. Lecture is not boring and class participation is expected.

Mrs. Marshall is a great teacher. She is very organized, and tells you everything she expects up front. She is intelligent and extremely helpful. She tells you where to find all the resources you need: MLA writing help, JSTOR academic journals, etc. Tons of extra credit. She's straightforward- do the work, do the extra credit, get a good grade!

At first I really hated this class, but I realized that I actually learned a lot! I love that she tells you what she expects from the begining, and she doesn't leave all of the work until the end of the semester. Not a bad class, but you will have to work!

Clarity of expectations and assignments from day one. I was a bit intimidated by her strictness, but highly respect her extensive knowledge on subject matter. Material is presented in fun and interesting ways; never boring. Great emphasis of proper writing/MLA formatting, but she offers her complete support. I would take another class of hers!

Great teacher. Loved the hybrid class but you do have to do all the work. Make sure you take all extra credit opportunities so you don't have to do the final. If your self determined then take her hybrid class. You'll enjoy it and make sure to take your Gordon Rule papers to the Writing center. Stay on top of the work, do Extra credit, and go to the Writing Center and you have an easy A

She makes her rules crystal clear and will enforce them! She gives pop quizzes(that you'll probably fail) if she thinks the majority of the class hasn't read the assigned chapter. However, she is super helpful and has a truly interesting and fun class. She was my favorite teacher this semester.

Her research paper was pretty hard but everything thing else is was easy. Don't screw around and you'll enjoy yourself. She makes class interesting and fun! One of the best professors I've had.

Professor Marshall is one of the best teachers I have ever had at BCC. She actually cares about her students and she will go out of her way to help you, if you ask. I took her online class and learned a lot about Sociology. Combined with the text book, videos, Think Spot, and other external information, I was had an easy time learning the material. She is fair with her grades.

This was an online class for Intro to Sociology in which her online setup was different than the usual, so I goofed on the first essay. But, because of her extra credit offered through the whole semester I was able to get those points back. Overall great teacher for an online class.

I got an A but she is very hard. She did not like me at all. Make sure you study for the tests. I truthfully would take a different class if I were you. First day of class 26 students by the end there were 11 of us left. Nightmare reseach paper took out half the class they could no longer pass so they dropped. She didn't care about anyone. LOL RUNN

Easy A. I took this class for my first hybrid class and it was so easy. Very knowledgeable about the subject and is willing to help if you need it.

I took Dr. Marshall for Introduction to Sociology for the summer online and she has been one of my favorite teachers! She does expect college level work especially on papers but is always willing to help if you ask. I highly recommend taking her

My favorite teacher I have every had. You will learn so much. Your limits will be pushed- as in she shows some, very inerresting, videos that made me want to walk out of class. I learned so much in that class. There is a HUGE paper that you have to write around the end of the class, but it's not to hard if you don't put it off. You have to read!

She inspired me!I changed my major Sociology after taking her class.She is very tough but that's because school is not supposed to be easy.She wants to challenge people to learn the material.She keeps her opinions to herself and lets people decide how they feel about social issues from the straight facts.I hope to be as inspirational as her one day

Great professor. She's very knowledgable and genuinely cares about how well her students perform. She can be really scary (she yells) but if you don't say anything dumb you'll be fine. The assignments weren't hard at all, and she follows the syllabus.

Doctor Marshall is one of the coolest professors I've had yet. She relates everything you learn to real-world issues that are going on currently. She makes you work for a good grade, but it's nothing you won't be able to handle. Her instructions and expectations are clear-cut, and if you have any questions or concerns, she's there for you.

Don't take her for a bird course; she makes sure you learn the material. Book was necessary. May give pop quizzes. Written papers. Ex-military and makes sure you know it! Take her if you really want to learn sociology because she's fantastic. She's a sweetheart when you get to know her, but she can be a devil if the class isn't responding.

I took Dr. Marshall for Honors Social problems, and she was so helpful. She had helpful advice and really encourage us to work our hardest. At times, the course was frustrating, but overall, through the assistance of Dr. Marshall, it was very interesting.

Dr. Marshall is an extremely tough instructor but a fantastic teacher. She will make you work in her class (especially on papers). If you're not a good writer, I advise to not take her class because about half of the students in my class failed out due to not passing her papers. She is a fair teacher and will give you feedback on how to improve.

Amazing professor. If you are a good writing I would say take her but if you don't take essays seriously I would suggest not taking her. You only have two test; mid-term and final. but you can be exempt from the final if you get above a 90 on the first three papers. I went to the writing center for every paper I got A's on them. Easy if effort.

The class is very difficult, but if you work for it, you should get an A. They're were 3 essays that aren't bad of you're a decent writer. There are no other grades except for the midterm, final, and essays. The lectures are very interesting and engaging. Overall, it's a nice class to take if you are willing to put in the effort.

For you to pass with this professor, you have to know how to write in MLA format, and her exams can be difficult if you did not prepare at all for it. She expects a lot from her students, and pushes them for the best. She has a nice sense of humor and keeps the content light and entertaining. The Gordon Rules can be difficult, she's a hard grader.

At first I was intimidated by her because of some negative reviews about her being a very tough grader, and her being ex military, but quickly I realized she was a huge sweetheart. She grades fairly, and expects college level work. I never considered myself to be a great academic writer, but I got 88 and above on all of my papers. Would take again

Read her syllabus very thoroughly, only 4 MLA essays and if you fail any of them you won't pass this course. I visited the writing center for every paper and got A's in 3 of them. I was certainly skeptical at first since writing is not my strongest subject but I'm pleased to say she's definitely a GOOD Professor. I'm taking another class with her.

She's funny and knows what she's talking about when she teaches. 3 major papers, two major tests and that's it. Lots of article analysis, no homework, optional reading. I never read and still passed the midterm. Do not get the text book as she links the text book in the class.

This class was very interesting, and not difficult at all. This class is not slammed pack with long, hard assignments. She offers extra credit throughout the entire semester.

If you put in the work, you'll get an A. Her quizzes are very hard because of the amount of time you have to spend reading and taking notes to prepare for them. She also wants you to do all of her assignments before the due date, which was hard sometimes. I think that she was a really good professor though. She gave really good feedback, though!

Professor Marshall is very passionate about sociology and a great teacher. Her quizzes are difficult and the final grade is only composed of the three quizzes and two projects + the final exam so be sure to study extra. This class is very informative, Marshall is a dynamic lecturer, but if you do not have time to study don't take it.

Prof Marshall's special topics in sociology class was really interesting. She picks good materials, leads interesting discussions, and cares a lot about the subject matter. This was the second class of hers I have taken and I would take a third if I needed another social sciences credit. You will get an A if you put in the effort.

Dr. Marshall is a character, to say the least. She is a tough military lady with a love for talking.. and talking.. and talking. The class is very interesting but is super early in the morning. Class is very interesting and engaging. She is very open with her political opinions. Homework in 3 discussion boards on what we learned, not too hard. The tests are difficult though.

Dr. Marshall was a great professor! Email her for help when you need it! She assigns either a test or discussion post every week which aren't usually too hard. Sometimes the discussion posts can take a minute, but they aren't too bad. There is no midterm- only a final and some weeks there is no graded work but you still have material to go over.

Dr. Marshall is a tough but engaging professor. Her classes are challenging, with demanding exams and projects. However, if you put in the effort, you can succeed. Using resources like unstuck study alongside the textbook can really help with study prep.
