Only the basics of MIS covered
as long as you do the homework the class is fine
totally recommend, very helpfull, somewhat easy, very good personality
Do homework and take tests and it is an easy class!
Friendly, but kinda disorganized. Assignments are few and easy, but test are kinda hard
Tests can be difficult, and you don't get much out of the class.
test are easy as you can have a sheet of notes but she is very vague and unclear and doesnt expalin anything at all and lectures strainght off of powerpoint which is not helpful and very boring.
Friendly, but class is straight off power point. The book is terrible, tests are typically a guessing game because what is presented in class is not usually what is on tests. She is vague about it, and often cheat sheets don't help enough to get an A.
The class was a breeze, but extremely boring! She is kinda weird, but knows her stuff.
She lets you have cheat sheets, which are nice for the quizzes, but one is not allowed on the Final. She teaches right off of stock PowerPoint slides which can be boring, but she knows a lot about what she's talking about. Do the homework and assignments.
Shes an easy teacher if you know the stuff...most of it is common-sense. You get a sheet of notes and lots of extra credit but her tests are still hard but she is understanding.
Very easy professor.
Worst ever
Not a bad class, allows a cheat sheet, use it wisely. Power POint lectures for 2 hours can get very boring, I mean fall asleep boring. Reading the book, haven't done it yet I just use power point for cheat sheet and look up terms in glossary.
worst teacher ever.
Not bad. Study her power points, make one cheat sheet of terms she gives you for each test. No reading book needed. Not all terms on test on power point so listen to lectures, even though boring.
nice.she's not a very good teacher.pretty boring, easy. All you need to do is come to class so you get points.write every term she tells you is going to be on the test and put it on your cheet sheet.40 out of the 50 questions on the test will be from exackly what she told you.dont have to do much!
Her lectures are painfully boring, group projects painfully boring, tests strange. Got a 4.0 though, how did that happen. She must grade on a curve :)
Sooo easy, but not very nice. Bring a pillow to class or some coffee! sooooo boring your pillow will need a pillow
She teaches straight from things the book publishers give the teachers. The only need to go to class is to get a few more points. Nothing of the class is from her own head she just gives busy wook. She does seem to know that she is talking about and is friendly. Just take then class and move on...
This class was DRY. As said, teaches from the book and is very PowerPoint reliant. Allows cheat sheets for the chapter tests, but none for the final...weird. Does curve at the end though!
Very loony, not helpful. Requires things in Excell that normal people never use in the real world, instead of concentrating on teaching the useful things. Could be a great class, but not from her. She shouldn't even be training dogs.
Boring class, need to get tests from past classes and then it's easy. I don't think she really wants to be there anymore that wedo.
BORING class....now you can't use cheat sheets for tests, so it makes them a lot harder! Watch out!
Okay teacher, boring, but easy. All tests have cheat sheets and the final is word for word from the other tests. I'm taking her again this winter, so I guess I'd recommend her.
Assignments are easy, and all tests (except the final) are open book. She tends to take off lots of points for petty mistakes, too.
Tests used to be open book but not anymore. Make sure you know the abbreviations for the words because thats what she tests on.
Easy class, easy tests. Test questions are directly from the book. One group presentation, you will get full grade by doing it. Class can be boring but is easy! :)
This is an easy class. An easy way to go. good instructor.
Great personality, nice woman.. as far as the class goes - Memorize, Regurgitate, Repeat:)
Really like her as a person and prof, but this class was not what I expected.... She instructs for a half hour and then you are pretty much on your own. The text can be pretty confusing and is necessary for all of your assignments! I don't feel that I really learned anything, I actually feel more confused then before taking the class!!!
This class is a complete joke. Paying 600$ to memorize vocabulary and to top it off this professor doesn't even teach. She reads of the slides, show up for "clickers"(another waste of your money), pay 190$ for the books and memorize the vocab, play some pinball during this class so you don't go nuts and you will get an A.
Wonderful class, learned a whole lot. Teacher very helpful, highly recommended.
One of the worst teacher's I've had in the last four years. The class was fine, the teacher completely useless; can't teach, answer questions, or help you in any way--you're on your own.
Class was supposed to be 5 hour sessions. Ended up being about half most times and 1 hour on exam days. Instructor just above worthless as all required was the book and a smattering of Excel knowledge. Don't take if you wish to actually learn something.
This teacher blows, she doesnt know anything, tests are easy. Labs are a ****, she makes you use clickers and they dont work half the time. Most people are pissed of when they are attending class, unless you enjoy listening to a dictionary with an annoying southern accent.
She is a nice professor. Lectures were boring though and I thought were a complete waste. Tests were mostly off the homework packet (crossword puzzle), but the T/F questions on the test came straight from the book. Lab was a bit difficult at times and so were the online quizzes. But overall, she knows her material which makes her a good teacher.
Debra is a bit unorganized and lectures aren't always clear: but she will let you re-do work that you didn't do well on. Easy to get a good grade as long as you put in some effort. Split classes between lecture and lab work, if you had internet access you only had to come in once a week. Very accommodating and you can learn a lot if you choose so.
good teacher
Excellent class
MIS is an easy class. Every quiz/test except the final is taken with Lockdown Browser. I did the lab assignments, completed every test, and did the presentation, and I got a 4.0. Don't worry if you don't understand Access; just make sure you can perform every type of query presented in the book. Attendance during presentation days are extra credit.
I took Debra online for both MISC311 and MISC374. In both classes I learned a lot. If you know anything about Microsoft programs, you should be fine.Take the proctured tests with her. She will help you a lot if you are having problems. Finals are ususally no notes and somewhat hard, but there are a lot of questions to help your grade.
I took the online MISC 311 class, I was working a ton while I took it but still did pretty well in the class. You don't have to read a lot but at least skim through the chapters and you will do fine. Have the book marked & with you when doing quizzes it helps a lot. Don't be afraid to ask questions when you go in 2 take tests, she is really helpful
Aweful Professor! maybe her online is fine but NOT her in class! disorginized is the only way I could describe her!
She is kinda funny.. Southern lady. I liked her. She is a good teacher and its an easy class. I pulled out a 3.7, no problem.
Generally a nice prof and is somewhat lenient. Just read the book and do the labs and you'll do fine. I never went to lecture class and still passed. But do the quizes on time or she'll dock you for it. Tests are multiple choice and mainly vocab. Easy class
Overall good class. Took online. Teacher was always available and very helpful.
Most ridiculous teacher ever. She treats this class as 2 so be prepared for excessive homework. Her lab assistants are better teachers than her. She allows a page of notes for tests yet she doesn't tell you how to prepare at all (Don't take notes from powerpoints - they're useless. Read book and know all definitions). Wish I took this class online.
Super easy class, teacher is lenient, willing to give make up tests etc. If you know anything about computers, you could pass this class without cracking the book. Not the greatest professor in the world, somewhat disorganized, but ive had much worse and this class is an easy A
Took this online, didn't really like it, but I did well. Buy your textbooks used through Amazon, I paid $25 total for both books. Do exactly what you're told, turn in your work, and memorize terms and you'll do fine. If it's not by the book, she's only looking for formatting, etc (research paper, html, etc). A lot of work, but a pretty easy A.
Online class. Got A in the class. Be prepared for the workload. Prof. Morgan is very helpful and nice. She is very approachable. Know the terminology for tests and for IN-PERSON EXAMS make sure you know the formatting.
boring and a lot of work to do for 4 credits(two classes combimed) but she is okay.
Class is easy if you know anything about the computers. Her tests in class are hard but not impossible. If you have no idea about computers then prepare to study. Easy A.
Took class online & was better than what others say for in class. Lectures are posted & test are kinda hard but ok to get through. Professor is approachable & very helpful!
The excel/technical stuff was super easy but the book/lecture material was not!! Let's you use a cheat sheet on all the tests except for the final. Makes class UNBEARABLE. Probably the worst lectures i've ever sat through.
on line class with a lot of assignment. Every quiz and exam must be proctored. Half online and half and test in school!
Debra is kind of stubborn in her ways. If you do all of the work on time and the way she wants it (that part is really, really important), you'll be sure to get an A.
Debra-terrible professor. I have had many online classes, she took the longest to respond, was short when she actually did respond. I think she takes on too heavy of a workload therefore doesn't leave room to really focus on her online students. She's confusing and boring. DON'T take her.
One of the worst teachers I have ever had (even compared to SCC). Interesting how she teaches a business class, yet never uses proper business terminology. Also, she makes students double submit HW, but if you can't find it in the ridiculously unorganized pile of graded papers, she will not give credit even if it was turned in on Canvas.
No real formatting guidelines for homework as long as skill is demonstrated. Lectures were short and unhelpful. Even though she tells you to keep your homework to use as a template later on, she flips out if you actually do that. It doesn't matter if you follow directions or not, she'll always find a way to make you feel inferior.
Terrible teacher. Extremely unorganized. Her TA's do all of the grading so things easily get lost between her and the two TA's. Should have been an easy A as the material is common knowledge, but she makes it impossible. She has no desire to accommodate anybody for any reason. Tests are HARD
Grading scales not well defined, will expect you to know things that she never discussed in class and are not in the book.
Avoid if possible
Terrible professor, she isn't helpful, she doesn't seem to care, If you're computer crashes during a quiz she won't give it back to you (even if it happens on campus). AVOID HER. Advice: The first week of class, she'll tell you about the online homework due, but the the quiz, so if you don't see it, expect a 0. She also won't reopen it. look out.
Horrible, Unwilling to help.
The worst class I've taken. Does not help, probably because she cant do the assignments herself.
Worst Teacher Ever!!!!!!!!!!
Class is split between 2 sections, IT portion and the Excel and Access portions. Homework's are easy but quite time consuming. If you are able to follow directions and put in some work you will easily get a good grade, but its all busy work
Overall not helpful. Was very rude over email. Hard to talk too, probably one of the lower tier profs ive had at EWU
This class was hard, learning to do computer work over a computer is hard. But the frustrating thing was when I would ask a question the reply was always refer to the syllabus, if the answer was in the syllabus I would not ask the question
In a 2 hour class, she will only talk for about 15 to 20 min at most then the rest of class is just free time. Don't expect to get any feed back. Can't even check your over all grade during the quarter. Lectures rarely relate to the course work and are usually general tech words. If you struggle with tech, this will be an impossible class to ace.
Really liked Debra. She taught all the information well in an entertaining way. All homework is online and is not difficult if you do the work. Attendance is optional, just 2 tests total. Would recommend
I was pretty upset with this class. Debra couldn't answer questions in class about why the homework program wasn't working. She couldn't figure it out herself majority of the time. It got so bad I actually asked her in a class if she even cared about student success. She just laughed - I have never has a teacher be so rude to all of the students.
Pretty straight up class. Super easy to get a 4.0. You really don't even need to go to class. Nice teacher, responds to emails pretty quick if you have any questions. Textbook is not needed what so ever. You do however have to purchase a simnet account and a connect acct which cost about $160 total at the bookstore.
Not very helpful and cannot answer your questions about things she's assigned. She goes based off of the syllabus, but the dates are always wrong. She'll also tell you things, and forget she said them and won't follow through. Rude if you don't want to talk technology with her. Lots of homework, but pretty easy.
Super easy. Just do your work and you'll 4.0! You don't have to come to class, but if you do it's time work on your homework. The final was easy - it was basically just multiple choice concept definitions and she gave a study guide. You also have an exam for Excel and Access. You can work ahead, which I suggest.
She is a great professor that does her job just like anyone else. She can't control the problems involved with simnet or connect so people should not bash her on that. Contact those companies. The overall class is very straight forward. It is an easy 4.0 and she can answer most questions I took this class along with 3 others and it was easy.
Professor Morgan is super nice but gives a ton of homework thats not always easy. You can take online for sure but her in class is a easy way to get quick questions answered without emailing her.
She gives lots of homework be prepared to put in a lot of time doing tedious assignments. She wasn't very nice when you asked questions and told you to refer to syllabus. *PSA for those who want to take the class online* She has you take 3 tests that have to be proctored and each test costs $30 to take (university cost). THIS CLASS HAS EXTRA COSTS
Horrible class, bad instructor. Additional fees for all proctored tests. 8+ assignments a week for small points. Unforgiving software, NOTE: She has one assignment out of 74 due at 6pm instead of 73 at 11:59. Bad communications and combative. 3 finals Acess/Excel(Very difficult) and MIS(Easy). Course material is also expensive and has zero resale
This was my first online class at EWU and it was a decent experience. There was a lot of homework but it was all really easy and didn't take very long to finish. My only complaint would be some of her instructions weren't very clear or were lacking. Otherwise, as long as you do the homework it should be an easy A
Super chill class. You don't have to show up for class. She lectures for 30 minutes and then you can stay or leave after she lectures. The projects are tough, but she is willing to help. Just make sure you stay during class and she will explain it. Make sure you do all the homework as they are weighted heavily.
As long as you do well on all the Simnet & Connect assignments and pass the Excel & Access exams with a 60% or higher you are good. This class is pretty chill but can sneak up on you if you don't take it seriously. Easy class, study for the final because its no joke. She is a nice professor who is very helpful and I would take her class again.
Granted the course is extremely easy a 4th grader with mild knowledge of computers could ace this course, but shes just unpleasant to even email. I'm very glad I didn't have this course in person.
The coursework is relatively easy, but there are lots of assignments, and there isn't much to reinforce your knowledge outside the book.
Unfortunately Morgan is downright terrible. I wanted to take this class for summer quarter & first week of summer quarter, I was in a severe car accident, was injured & my new home flooded the same week. Needles to say, I had a medical note & asked for her to work with me & she told me I would never pass & needed to drop it. Worst experience at EW
Two weeks before the end of the quarter I was injured and required emergency surgery. I had over 100% in her course and she was HORRIBLE to work with to finish the course. She would not do anything to help accommodate the fact that I was no longer on campus and was in severe pain and could not complete assignments. Will not be taking another course
She lectures first 20- 60 minutes then lets you finish the weekly assignments the rest of the time and will help you a ton! Or let you leave if you want! Such an easy class!
This class is an easy A as of the material being hard or not. Lots of homework, not hard but extremely time consuming. So if you procrastinate this class could be challenging. Also, finals are crucial in her class. Study!
One of the worst classes I've taken. Not because of the professor, but just the material in general is a joke. The SimNet and McGraw Connect assignments are very long (2 hours each) and you barely retain any of the information learned. Also, If you fail a test you fail the class, no matter how well you have done on the homework. Best of luck guys.
MISC311 at EWU is relatively easy. Think of it more as CPLA but for credit. I thought Ms. Morgan as a proctor was, generally speaking, unprofessional and disagreeable. She mocked students who asked questions, tough to watch especially when she mocked students who were non-native English speakers. But truly her temperament is the worst part of it!
Horrible communication, does not care about student success whatsoever. Cannot work with her and is a liar. Would avoid if possible. Busy work!
Horrible teacher
I'm surprised there are many bad reviews on this professor. Took her last quarter. Yes, there are lots of homework but not hard at all. You can finish them all if you focus for 1-2 hours. Professor replied quickly and gave extra chance for the capstone project. All you need is to ask.
Does little to teach course material, and all spreadsheets are computer graded, so in an online class format its hard to tell what value she actually adds to the course. In my time in college I have seen the shift to professors doing less and less and relying solely on curriculum software to courses for them and this is the worst example of that.
Worst teacher I have ever taken, she does little to actually teach. If you don't pass all of the literally 9 exams you get an automatic C-, which means you basically have to redo the class. The worst part is that you can get 100% on all the homework and still fail the exams. I put about 3+ hours into my final exam and got a 5%. YOU'RE KIDDING ME!!!
Wow. Well I liked the class even though there was a lot of homework but the finals were just ridiculous. I had 5 very high point finals in one day. 3 or which had 25 questions a piece and only 15 minutes to complete. I wanted to learn but this made it very difficult to actually think about my answers. Very little contribution to the course.
Had an A up until the last week I wasnt able to pass the project exams even though with the grades that I did receive, I still had an A in that class. She wouldnt budge about letting me do anything to pass the class and failed me because of a test. Emailing her felt as if she was mad that I was asking questions and feedback on tests is horrible.
Horrible professor, lazy with lectures and little gives little feedback. She has expectations for formatting that she won't add in the project exam but will still mark you down for it. I've emailed her multiple times with questions and she will beat around the bush and not answer them. Worst class I've taken at EWU, be ready to teach yourself.
Absolutely Terrible!! Never had such a disrespectful and ruthless professor. Emailing her for anything is pointless as she doesn't help and just beats around the bush. The course work is a joke and you will spend 10 hours a week doing busy work. I asked her for help once and she responded "maybe you should drop the course." Avoid her at all costs!!
Avoid taking this course at all costs if you can. It's hard because Debra Morgan is the only professor who teaches MISC 311 at EWU so you don't really have an option. I went into the final with an A and ended with a C. She makes it so even if you do great on all of the difficult assignments and fail the final then you fail the class.
This is the WORST teacher I have ever taken. She is an absolute monster. Ask anyone in this course about her. She mocked my intelligence often, made me feel less then, and questioned my work ethic. I have never had an issue with a teacher in my life until her. She is the reason most people change their majors.
Worst proffessor ever hands down
Worst Teacher I have had at EWU. Tough grader and gives short and terrible feedback. Highly recommend you wait till a new teacher teaches the class.
How is only one teacher teaches this class? She's not difficult or the class is that hard, but she basically does nothing...
Professor Morgan is possibly the worst teacher I have ever had. She is incredibly rude, uncompassionate, and has a monopoly teaching MISC at EWU because she is the only professor that teaches it. EWU needs to do something about her, in any sort of professional atmosphere her behavior would not be tolerated nor her inability to show basic kindness.
Many people seem to dislike her, but I thought she was okay. The entire course was done through websites, so I never learned anything directly from her. Very easy to pass as long as you do all the assignments and put in effort. This course teaches you a good amount about Excel and Access, and projects to create with them.
Professor Morgan is possibly the worst professor I have taken over 4 years in college. Her tests are worded poorly, the simnet software for the exams does not work well, and she requires you to get at least a 50% on all of her tests, or she WILL fail you. She gives lots of homework that's not relevant. So, be ready for lots of busy work.
Not difficult, but LOTS of busywork, useless lectures, and annoying exams. She doesn't grade anything herself, and it took 5 emails to get the answer to the question I asked in the first one. Non-exam days aren't mandatory, though, which is nice.
I truly try to find the good in every professor, but am coming up short. My mom passed unexpectedly while in this class and, when asked for an extension, I was denied, so I withdrew. When I took it again, I still almost failed. I spent 25+ hours doing homework and scraped by with a B, not to mention the four 3-hour finals due finals week. Run.
do not recommend she is awful, expect a lot of homework, tests are difficult, a lot of busy work
To be honest, her class wasn't bad at all. I personally went to nearly all her lectures, but attendance definitely isn't mandatory. Her lectures consist of things you'll see in your homework assignments. The amount of homework was quite a lot, but as long as you did the homework, it was pretty easy to pass the class. Good luck!
I would never take a class from her ever again. Has zero sympathy and lacks care. Very hard class.
Overabundance on homework/assignments that is merely just busy work. She is not considerate or empathetic towards your efforts to learn and pass the class; as you can see by many of the reviews. The course material is not hard just prepare for lots of tedious work and make sure to leave a course evaluation at the end of the quarter!
Debra's class is a mixed bag - lots of busy work, but you can still do well if you engage with the material. Unstuck study and ChatGPT were a big help for test prep. Not the most engaging lectures, but manageable if you put in the effort.
This professor is not understanding at all. It feels like she doesn't care if her students fail. The homework is nonstop, with no breaks in between. As soon as you finish one assignment, the next one is already due. There's not enough time during the tests, and it seems like the professor wants students to fail rather than pass her class.
I don't know how this woman hasn't been fired yet. She is rated horribly for a reason, and it is not because many students fail the class, it's because almost all students fail at the very last second. She sets you up to fail especially if you have a mac (virtual labs is horrible). She is rude and has zero empathy, they need to hire someone else!!!
She needs to be fired immediately, she shows no empathy for students and has poor professionalism over email. Her assingments are poorly setup and designed. Sets you up for failure and doesn't try to understand your position as a student. She does respond fast but overall would NOT recommend, Stay away from this woman.
Ultimately, it is not the professor. It is just a very, very hard class! Professor Morgan helped me every day after class and would always be available on Zoom whenever I needed assistance. So take advantage of all the help you can get! She is very strict and a tough grader. I had an A throughout the entire quarter until the last week...
I had a B- until after the quarter ended, right before final grades, she dropped my grade to a C- because I failed one test. The grade I EARNED was a B-, but that doesn't matter in her eyes, might as well just have the class be four tests and no other assignments. My emails were ignored or she responded with one or two word answers. HORRIBLE!!!!!!!
Uses McGraw Hill for assignments & exams. The exams are difficult because they are timed with barely enough time to complete them. On SIMNET exams you have to correctly click on the object you are trying to complete otherwise it automatically marks you wrong. You also have to pass ALL exams with 50% otherwise you'll fail the course. Don't recommend
Gives A LOT of homework to practice, better understand the material. Final exam is given with lockdown browser and two exit exams are timed and given through canvas. You do have to complete both the Exit Exam and the Simnet Exam, or you will not pass. As long as you keep up with the homework load and complete those exams you will pass the class.
This was the worst professor ever. Although I barely passed the class, if you dont pass the 4 roughest tests with 50 or above (its quite difficult) she fails you even if you had a A from the previous tests and assignments. (Which btw homework takes hours and is rough if you arre a rookie in Excel and Access. God willing, barely slide through.. GG's
Professor Morgan should not be teaching. She is a horrible teacher who does not help out students when they ask, does not give clear feedback, and has a ridiculous grading scale that makes no sense. I would ask for help on stuff and she would answer with one word responses. Please avoid her classes at all costs. The other reviews are true.
If you are reading this, good luck, Debra is..... something. if you ask questions in class she will basically make fun of you in front of everyone if she deems your question stupid. you have to get 50 or higher on the big tests to pass (very difficult) and she gives smart book assignments that take 3+ hours, good luck.
WORST class I have ever taken. Impossible to pass without the use of extra online help if you know what I mean. After the final, in our classes text GC someone was trying to make a side hustle by offering to take our exams for $$ because people were that desperate ... too bad I had forgot to save his number when I took the class the second time.
