She is easy if you keep up with the work and study for the exams.

I recommend this instructor to anyone who wants to learn the subject. She is extremely thorough, and fair in her grading. She gets an A plus.

Prof. Sharkey is very passionate about Geography and it shows. She truly wants you to learn more about our Earth and how it works. The homework assgns can be hard, but she's willing to help you. I learned something new every class!

She's great. She know's her stuff and has real life experience to back it up. Test's are a little on the easy side if you read and go to class. Some advice from the experienced: dont wait until the last minute on the term paper, and turn in your flexi-work, if you dont your grade will drop a lot.

Interesting and important class. However, she makes it much harder than it really needs to be. You work your a** off just to get an average grade in the class. Tests are relatively tough, even if you study and there are a good deal of writing assignments. She's pretty strict and rather picky. Good class overall but you'll have little free time.

Professor Sharkey is a really great teacher. She is very nice and helpful. She has traveled to so many places it was fun to hear all of her stories. The exams are based on her lectures and the textbook. I had to work very hard to get an "A". I would recommend her!

I think she's a great teacher. Her lectures are boring though, with a ton of notes. She teaches every minute of the lecture. Her class is easy, but you have to work for the grade. What I most appreciate about Professor Sharkey are her insights and world view, being someone who knows what's going on at all regions of the world.

Debra Sharkey is a good teacher, however, she is over the top with her work load. We average about a test a week, had numerouss large projects, and almost daily homework on top of the reading. I had more work in her class than my other three combined! Overall, though, she is a thoughful teacher and almost always had an interesting antecdote.

She uses every minute of the class she can to talk about the regions of the world and expects you to retain all of the information. Her exams are extremely difficult and she assigns a project throughout the semester that is completely ridiculous.

Sharkey was a somewhat hard teacher, you has powerpoints everday and must finish it no matter what. All of her tests are on the powerpoints and especially on the chapters in the book. I didnt pass the class cus I have trouble comprehending what I read and remembering it during the test. If you can do that then the class should be a breeze for you

Prof Sharkey lectures are thorough and goes over chapters in the textbook in her powerpoint. Be sure to listen to what she has to say because their most likely to be on the exam or quiz. It's not a hard class, it's a class that you have to study to get an "A" in the class.

I thought Prof Sharkey was a descent professor. The tests aren't that bad if you study from the textbook and do the study guide. The 5 page family migration paper is pretty easy. Map quizzes are easy to study for and tests are easy with a little supplement from the book. Have her look over your work before submitting because grading can be strict. This class was very interesting, and as long as you read the book and study for the tests (which she gives study guides for) then you'll have no problem getting a B or an A in the class. There's little to no homework and she knows her stuff fairly well. Take this class if you need it.

She was an okay teacher, just she will go OFF on rants about pollution, the environment, etc. too many hard projects for a geog class, and even if you study, you will be completely unprepared for midterms and finals, which are worth like half of your grade

Easy C+/B- class. If you study hard and regularly, no doubt you will get an A. Reading is essential to pass this class; Chapters are about 30+ pages long of text. Each exams is made up of 4 chapters. Excellent professor, she can explain really well. Overall I highly recommend this class.

This professor can teach. Before taking this class, I heard students said she gave out tons of work but it's not that bad. The handouts and assignments really help you to get prepare for exams and quizzes. You really need to study for exams unless you know Geog. well. The study guides have lots of information on it but its what is on the exams.

This is literally the best teacher I've ever had. I've been going to community colleg for quite a few years in several different states and within one state several different colleges, and this teacher is top. She tells you EXACTLY what she expects of you and the textbook is very helpful - diagrams, vocab with page number reference. The best.

The last class I took with Sharkey was geog 320 but I also took geog 300, geog 306 with her also. She gives a lot of work so expect to spend time outside of class to do it. That being said her tests are challenging but if you do the homework and show up to class you will pass no doubt just be ready.

She is amazing. You will work hard, but it's worth every minute of it. I would advise to you students who are lazy or really busy, this class will take a lot of outside studying and assignments, and her exams are very hard, but if you study, it will be easier. She is a great professor of Geography.

I have taken geog 300, 301, 302 & 310 as well as numerous field courses. She is absolutely the best but requires a lot of work. If your unsure of your major take one of her classes!

She's really passionate about geog but skips over important stuff to talk about useless info. The tests are so hard cause she makes you memorize everything. Hw is not bad except the online stuff which can be too much at times. Also DO NOT leave early even if you are in a crisis because she will get mad and embarrass you in front of the whole class.

Do NOT leave class early or come in late, if you have to leave early make sure you talk to her before class! Her exams were fairly hard because it is VERY specific and detailed, however she does give you a study guide beforehand. She has 3 exams (final included), 3 quizzes and a term paper. Majority of the homework is online and uses the textbook.

Don't know about that bias review, but you have to be diligent in college. Actually Professor Sharkey is more sympathetic to students and allow late work on major assignments. A lot of note-taking, use whatever medium easiest for you (I brought my laptop). A lot of info given during lectures is on the tests: MUST TAKE NOTES. Be open-minded, she is an environmentalist so obviously she'll have strong feelings about it. Just don't let it push you away from important topics covered in this class that you should be aware of.

Professor Sharkey is one of my favorite professors at CRC and I've heard she's one of the best. I took GEOG 302 with no prior background in environmental studies but she was great! Professor Sharkey is a tough teacher. Attendence is mandatory and there is a lot of homework. She expects you to work for your grade. Human geography was interesting but the course required a lot more work for a non geography major. I learned a lot but I would not take her again.

Prof Sharkey is a not an easy A but honestly I would take her again because she will work with you until you get it and she always gives good feedback on everything. Doing the homework helps you A LOT and prepares you for the next lecture (which you should already be doing but with her its a must)

this class is for college students only, not for people who want Wing by a GE or just taking a class. A Proff. like Sharkey is hard to find, she actually teaches during class. And what you ACTUALLY learn reflects back to your exams and grades for class. Its either your getting an A or a F, or W. A do the work, attend class.

Prof. Sharkey is one of my fav professors. She's very passionate about geography and sustainability. She is strict with her policies and a tough grader, but has always been willing to help those that ask. Take full advantage of her study guides for exams, attend regularly, read the textbook, and complete weekly homework assignments and you'll pass.

I'm shocked by all of the negative feedback. Yes, Sharkey is tough. Yes, her class is difficult. But she is a prime example of an educator who cares about her students, and she loves her profession. She has tutoring, numerous resources and gave weekly updates through canvas with study tools. You need to WORK for your A. It won't be handed to you.

READ THIS!!! She does give out a TON of work, but she's an amazing teacher. I recommend NOT taking this course for your GE unless you want the challenge. Online Human Geography course. Second time taking Debra Sharkey. Similar review. Great professor, really knows her stuff, passionate about the subject, expects students to actually learn and work for it. A lot of reading, no textbook, lectures are clear cut. Assignments, quizzes, projects, and exams have a clear rubric. Workload is large, but fair.

Overall solid teacher. Makes directions clear and emails back quickly with answers to questions. Pretty hefty amount of homework, especially for the 500 point final project. Helpful and truly passionate about geography and environmental studies.

overall a good teacher and gave interesting lectures. unfortunately used an expensive online interactive textbook. the only other downside was having to read an additional book and writing an essay on it. overall, not bad :)

The first week I took this class I was watching the 3+ hour lectures, and within that time I accidentally skipped a minute or two when trying to pause it to take notes. When the participation grade came out I got an 8/10 for missing a minute, that was the moment I knew this class was going to be horrible. Only take this class if it is necessary.
