not every helpful in class. useless powerpoints - i dont find a need to go to class. boring. assigns too much. no mercy!
Our class was pretty split, those that didn't do well ahted her and others of us liked her. She brought in real world examples to help us. She was available and helpful when asked.
Very work & career oriented so she tries to make it real with stories & situations. Powerpoints aren't the best but still good info. Attempts to get class involved in the process as much as possible. Assignments seem fair & straight forward.
The worst teacher i have ever had! Way to much work, she thinks students have all the time in the world outside of class. Never has answers for questions students ask! I took her in the summer and I'd rather get **** then have to take her class again!!
What a nightmare of a professor! Useless Powerpoints, where we can fill in the blanks, but they do not match the title! For instance, a Powerpoint on "The Effects of Emotional Abuse and Neglect" which focused on the problems of children and violence. Lectures were disjointed and incredibly boring. DO NOT TAKE FOR ANY CLASS! She cannot teach.
This class was really cool. We spent alot of time studying the material & having relational discussions in class. Then she arranged for people to bring actual kids in and we had to practice with them. This was both challenging & very real life experience as well. She seems to do better in hands on clinical classes.
This was a very applied class. She had us split into couples and do all kinds of practice in class and for assignments. She also did these things called "hot seats" where she played the counselor & showed us how to work with couples. She seems very good clinically speaking. She was helpful & available outside of class if we needed help.
I learned so much from Dr. Stout about how to sit with kids and be comfortable counseling them. She really challenged me in ways other profs never did - especially with the kids. We spent time in class both talking about material but also in a semi group format talking about our fears and concerns. She has high expectations but also supports you
She can seem confused at times but is a very good counselor. I learned much from just watching her practice couples counseling in class for us. She challenges you to grow but is caring and compassionat towards clients and students. I would actually take her again if she taught a class I needed that semester. Fair grader on written work too.
This was her first time teaching a CAS class and she taught it from a very psychological point of view. Always used to textbook to answer questions instead of just knowing the answer. I did not care for her, but if i took her for a psych class maybe. She wasn't good for CAS tho.
Good teacher (not the best in the dept but certainly not the worst). Slides & notes follow the book well. Tests were not easy but fair also. Just do the reading & assignments. She has alot of interesting experiences that she shares in class. Likes interaction & discussion - encourages it with candy which is cool. I would take her again.
Good teacher, always willing to help and answer questions. Tries to make learning fun by playing games & passing out candy. Explanations are not always clear the first time. Very good communication, always sending emails to students and grades on blackboard are always up to date. Quiz almost every week...must read book!
She does not know her stuff. Insecure, new, maybe on parole?
I really feared this class because I had heard bad things but she made it fun. I learned so much from her about how to research and also how to write well. She brings candy to class to motivate us. I would take another class from her.
Dr. Stout's class wasn't unbearable. She gives candy, shes pleasant, easy to talk to, and encourages discussion. If you have specific questions she may not be able to clearly answer them, but i did learn in her class :) Heavy textbook use.
She is a nice person and okay at lecturing (right from the book). She is "iffy" when it comes to answering questions-- her answers are NOT always correct. I was an A student, but I am getting a B- in her class. There is a semester long group project. You do not choose your own group. **THE ENTIRE CLASS IS A LOT OF WORK!**
Horrible professor. Everything she does has to be straight from the book because she is not intelligent enough to come up with her own lessons. She can hardly answer questions when asked. Her quizzes for section 326 are impossible to pass. Avoid her at all costs.
This was a very basic class but she did her best to make it fun and interesting. I would take a class from her again
This is a tough course but we learned that if you just use the required Writing Manual (APA) for questions it helps. There is a lot of writing but she is helpful in the lab. Heavy Text use. She's probably the nicest one in the CAS Dept to teach this course.
I had this professor for 2 of my classes. She is a really nice person but a terrible professor. She uses the book for absolutely everything! Instructions for assignments are very unclear and over uses discussion board She does not know how to answer questions and sometimes will just move on without answering at all. I would recommend someone else.
She gave good examples and gave a lot feedback. I learned a lot about myself as a counselor in this class. I think she's great :)
I got an A in this class but I had to work unusually hard for it. She is a very nice woman but she is a horrible professor. She doesn't allow you to miss class or she will -30 points from your grade. She also is not smart enough to answer the questions that you have.
I am enjoying this 301 class. I had heard bad things about it but she is very straightforward. Most questions will be referred back to the book, especially about APA writing stuff. She is friendly, caring and brings candy to class (which is cool).
She is by far one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She is a nice person, but a HORRIBLE teacher. Do not take from her at all costs. She lectures straight from the book and can not answer questions when you ask them, unless she looks it up in the book. Also if you miss class, she takes away points.
I worked hard in this class and also earned an A. She knows alot about programs in OC and violence prevention which attempts to weave into class to make it interesting. I found her to be available and very helpful. Thanks Dr. Stout for everything!
She is by far the best one teaching this class! She is warm and friendly and really wants you to be a good writer. Paper due has many steps so there are many ways to earn points. She takes roll so you have to attend. I would take another class form her again.
Good Prof.YOu have to know, the class is not easy, at all!!it requires pple stop being lazy and study.I would say the best prof for the class, compared to the others.ATtendance mandatory. She is definetly understanding.Uses interactive ppt's. I would take her again.
I found her to be calm. grounded and present. She encourages us to look at ourselves as we're learning the theories to see how they fit. She is helpful and wants learning to be fun. She brings candy to class which is helpful for night classes too. Gives good feedback on papers. I would recommend her and take her again.
She was an easy grader just don't make obvious APA mistakes. 301 is a tough class and she isn't too helpful, but she grades easy and every teacher uses the same book.LEARN FROM THE BOOK and ALWAYS do the online book quizzes before you take her quizzes
She is a very nice person. She seems to have her students best interests at heart in everything she does. Some explanations don;t make sense but just ask again and you'll get it. She is very involved out in the community which brings an interesting angle to class. I would take her again.
Great Professor, very aware of and responsive to our needs. I enjoyed this class and would take more from her.
She seems to like teaching this class. She knows alot of stuff about kids & shares stories to keep us interested. Likes participation & gives out candy in most every class if you talk. Takes attendance regularly so you have to go. I recommend her.
She is such a nice person it is hard to not like her. Her class is ridiculous... She is obviously very knowledgeable about the material yet when trying to explain it she doesn't do the best job. The class no matter who you have is bad but she makes it miserable to come twice a week. She does grade fairly easy which is the only good thing.
This is a hard class but also very interesting. I learned a lot about research and more importantly, how to write better. Because of that, I think this class is worth it because I will do better in all my future classes now.
This teacher seems to know the topic well and enjoys sharing about it. She tries to pull us into the conversations with candy which is cool. Her focus is how violence effects children so that's cool. I think she really cares about her students & how they are doing. I liked her and would take another class from her if I had the chance.
I thought she was a very supportive, caring professor. Class is laid back but you will still learn alot. She communicates with your site supervisor and also visits most (or all?) of them. I would like to take more classes from her if possible.
Good teacher. well liked by most in the class. Caring, interested, motivating. Recommended!
Lots of info in this class but it's really cool because it's stuff you will use in the rest of the program & probably at work too. Some lectures better than others but overall she is really nice which makes for a good semester. I'm taking her again!
Good professor. Good focus on child development. Interested in exposure to violence in children. She really seems to care about her classes. She tries to motivate you throughout the semester. I hope to take more classes from her.
We had the best conversation about testing last week! This is a tough class because of the material. She is trying to make it applicable to our lives and in the teaching classroom. I like her approach, balanced between her talking & us doing small group work/discussions. This is my first class with her and I would take more classes from her.
She is a fun teacher. This is a general topic. Her focus seems to be getting us to think about it in our own lives & communities. She breaks up class with fun, engaging activities and brings candy to class from time to time. I would like to take another class with her.
This class was enjoyable and had many games and activities to get the class engaged. You have to read the book if you want to pass. Her lectures are not very helpful, but she takes attendance so you have to go. Book is really good and an easy read. The class is overall easy and Stout is a great professor and really cares.
Classes consist of her reading off of the powerpoint. She puts the slides on titanium, but they're fill in the blank which she reveals during her lectures. The book is helpful. There is an online quiz every week sometimes up to 3 chapters of reading. If you don't read, you won't do well on the quizzes. Outlining the chapters is really helpful.
She has a lot of experience in this area. She encouraged class discussions & smaller group work where we were able to learn from others experiences. Many were nervous about the process but she has a very calming way about her. The book was not great but I think the Dept required it (not her fault). Overall a good Prof, I would take her again!
Dr. S rocked this class! We had so much fun learning leadership. She uses variety - lectures, small groups, discussion, class activities, student presentations, just keeps things interesting! The readings good and assignments fair. I think everyone could benefit from a class like this. Not sure how I could but I would take a class from her again.
Not an exciting class. Prof is obsessed with reflection exercises and in class activities that require you to mingle, UGH. Simple and straight forward class structure with only a few assignments. Major component is online discussion posts and you MUST be in class to be allowed to post that week. Don't take this class if you like to ditch.
Prof Stout is a very nice lady and cares for her students. She wants students to succeed and is willing to help and clarify if needed. There are a lot of assignments but they're doable. Class is very interactive. I enjoyed the class. Be sure to be on time, she docks off points if you're late consistently.
Dr. Stout is a very nice woman, but she is not the best instructor. The material is very dry and boring. Can be kind of monotone. Lots of group activities which can be fun. Two papers, online quizzes, three exams including the final. READ! Quizzes and exams are heavily reading based. Not the worst, but not the best either. Easy grader though!
I would not recommend her. Her lectures are not very helpful when it comes to exams. Be prepared to read, I had to buy 4 books. You spend most of the time in class doing lame activities that can be fun, but do not help when it comes to exams. She is a tough grader and will even knock you down .05 of a point for something so little. Points matter!
She is a nice person with a wealth of experiences to share. The book is good and she follows it weekly. Always has interesting activities (not liked by everyone) to drive points from the reading home. Also does supervision in class. Sometimes sends half the class home each week which is cool. I would like to take a class with her again!
Take CAS 301 with Debra. She will help you and will do her best to give you feedback to improve. Her quizzes are easy just read the chapter she assigns. Ask for feedback and lot of help for the paper. Study study for her test and she gives partial credit on test. I adore prof Stout she is def a good prof to take 301 if you need to take it.
Some in the class didn't like her, I happened to really enjoy the class. I was more active this class than usual, which actually made things move along nicer for me. I learned a lot about people & how to motivate and lead them. I also learned more out myself as well which was cool. Shes got some fun activities and there are lots of discussions
I learned a lot this class, however it was too much for a student with a busy schedule. She does not adequately describe what is necessary for assignments and projects. She expects you to go above and beyond for an A and does not specify that until the end of the semester. Take another professor if you have the option.
This was not an easy class but Dr. Stout kept it interesting. I certainly learned a lot about psych testing. I also learned a lot about myself playing around with all the tests she brought in to class. Go to class, ask questions, take notes, do the reading, and study for tests and you will do fine. This is not a class to expect to slide through.
Not my favorite class so far in this program but Dr. Stout did a good job of balancing a tough topic with out ultimate career goals (teaching for most). She has a lot of experience and will help anyone who asks. I would not only recommend her but I hope to take other classes with her.
Great class. Lots of group work in class but fun stuff. You will learn a lot about how to be a good leader. You will also learn stuff about yourself too. Lots of different majors take this class so discussions were interesting. Overall I felt this class was really valuable for my future. I went in ambivalent and came out wanting to be a leader!
I won't kid anyone, this is a tough class, however, I am very glad I listened when my friends said to take Dr. Stout. She really wants us to understand research. She also wants us to be well and have a decent experience. She cares about her students and will help anyone who makes the effort in class. I look forward to taking her again soon.
Lots of small group work in class. That breaks up the lectures which are not the best. Good info, just kind of tedious. You will learn about psych testing which most find interesting. Easier for people into math or research. She is helpful when asked, very friendly too. Active in the community so she has lots of stories to share.
Avoid at all costs. Lack of clarity in expectations, unfair grading, and lectures are not helpful. Feedback (if you eventually get it) is not specific or helpful. Deductions for attendance, but class involves her reading powerpoint bullets and group work that is not relevant to the test. Take anybody else.
Frustrating experience. Lectures seemed like a brief outline of the book and I would've liked more application as it's an interesting topic. Busy / group work to justify attendance deductions. I felt there could have been much more clarity and fairness in grading and follow through / timeliness. I learned more from the book than her.
Read, Read, and READ the textbook it will help you get ready for the exams. I basically learn from the book. Get ready to study! Good luck. :)
Like others have said the book is your best bet at a decent grade. Lots of group (cough cough, busy!) work and lectures tend to repeat word for word what you read the night before in monotone. Lectures aren't helpful but she deducts attendance AND online quiz points if you miss class. Passable but take somebody else if you can.
This class in general is a hard topic for our major. Dr. S does her best to make it both understandable and applicable to us and our future. She also taught me a lot about myself via all the fun tests we get to take & play around with in this course (that's actually the best part of this class). If you come to class and get involved you'll be fine.
Dr. Stout taught me how to read research in this class. She also taught me how to write in APA Style. The class was challenging for sure, but I believe what I learned will make me a better student in all my future classes in this program. I liked her teaching style and then being able to practice in lab. You can ask for help right there on the spot
It's been a few years and I am working in the field now. Looking back, much of what I am doing now in terms of child development I learned about in 325a. I actually enjoyed the course so much I took Dr. Stout for other classes (310 & 394). She's not easy but if you apply yourself you will learn a lot. I would recommend her to anyone who asked.
This is a tough class but it's required in our major. Some of the material is hard. Come to class, pay attention, do the reading and you should be fine. Consider a study group for test prep. I had fun playing around with the different psychological tests she brings in almost every week. I think that was the best part of this class.
WORST TEACHER EVER HAD. Has unclear grading criteria. Not sure she knows what APA format is because she docked me points for APA Format that was correct according to OWl PURDUE. Does not give feedback or examples of expectations, unless asked. Don't expect extra credit because its a joke. Confusing Lecturer, boring, not engaging.
She used a new text this semester & the author actually came to speak to us! I have never met an author of one of my tests! Best guest speaker I have ever seen. The material we cover in this class has been life changing for me. I have shared some things with my friends and family. This has been both insightful and a fun class, so glad I took it!
Definitely one of the worst professors I've ever had. The lectures are boring and just re-hash the textbook... which is difficult to read. She just reads the power point word-for-word and rarely gives further info. Unorganized, assigns serious projects and papers without giving sufficient information and instruction. Please avoid at all cost!!
You have to attend & you have to read the text if you expect to do well in this class. Lectures can drag if no one interacts so raise your hand. The application of the material (tests to play with in class) is probably the most interesting part. I certainly know more about special ed & how they end up there now. That's useful info too!
This class has a required computer lab with it. A couple times she let us just do the projects at home in place of a class meeting so that was cool. You do have a project like research assignment but she helps you each step of the way. I am a better writer now although I still think APA Sucks. I will take her again if I get the chance.
She is a leader already in the community & has been for a long time in our County so she's not just teaching from a book. She brings her real life experience to class & also offered us chances to attend community meetings & even a local conference this semester. Text was really cool and the author was a guest speaker. I would recommend her.
This was a fun class. I learned a lot about leadership and a lot about myself. The book was a great read, not really a traditional textbook. It was so cool to meet the author as well, he was a guest speaker in class (probably one of the best I have ever seen in a class). I was inspired by my classmates each step of the way. I would recommend her.
Cares about how your doing, both in her class and in life in general, which is cool. This is a hard class, but she taught us a lot so it wasn't like wasted time or busy work. I think we had a new text this semester so she had to redo a lot of stuff. Just read and come to class if you want to do well. She likes you to participate. I would take again
Tough class but it's required so everyone takes it. She does a good job. This is a class and a computer lab. She has a Peer Mentor in the lab to help and she is always there and available too. Read the APA manual and use it, you will do better on papers. We had fun sometimes. If she was teaching a future class I needed I would take her again.
Online quizzes 15 min timed. Unprepared. She didn't know the answers to the quiz questions. Questions didnt correspond to what the book said. She seemed to take out a question because we told her the book said a different answer. We learned about making test questions but she never followed those guidelines. Projects were not bad. Tests difficult.
Tough subject but she tries to make it real. She's very involved in the community so she has lots of real life examples to share (& opportunities for service too). It seems this is not a well liked class but I am doing OK with it. She is teaching me to understand research better and write better too. I think this is going to help me in the future.
She was actually recommended by a friend. So far I would say she is a very good teacher. I think this is the only class she teaches this semester. She has 2 labs so if you miss one you can attend the other. It's a lot of work but not too overwhelming if you stay on top of it. She does seem to care about us as a class. She offered us extra credit to
Though there are a lot of homework, they're useful and helpful to prepare for the exam! Quizzes every lecture meeting after she goes over the notes in class. There is one research paper (APA format) and a oral presentation. Prof. Stout really cares about the class and she has a passion for what she does. Lectures are informative!
13 quizzes drops the lowest quiz 14 hw 3 tests and a final that is written that is all based off of written portion of your 3 exams Each exam has a multiple choice of 25 questions and the written is around 4 questions research paper that will take over the majority of the class she doesn't explain well do not be absent points will be deducted
This class is notorious for being difficult, and she didn't help much. Her lectures were basically things you can read from the book and the content is difficult to understand if you're not familiar with stats. Her peer mentor was much better at explaining the content. Also there were times where she would leave class to grade our tests.
Not the most interesting class in the world as far as topics go but it's required so everyone has to take it. She was recommended by a friend and I am glad I took her. She is warm and caring, wants everyone to do well. She usually has a Peer Mentor who is helpful as well. She does offer extra credit but its at community meetings. Recommended Prof!
If you apply yourself you will learn a lot in this class. She is the Executive Director of a local non profit collaborative and has a wealth of info about issues and services in the area. She often offers some really interesting opportunities at community events to serve and get a little extra credit in the class. I would enjoy taking her again.
Recommend her! Complete ALL your work, every point counts & READ ALL CHAPTERS BEFORE THE QUIZZES! Staying on top of the quizzes and doing my best on the paper paid off. Her lecture is just an overview of the book, but reading the book makes all the difference. Exams are hard, so ask for practice problems & examples of the written portion of exam.
She is a nice lady but not great at teaching. -Does not explain things as clearly as she could (teaches as if it's review) -Moves through PP slides very fast & leaves blanks on slides to fill out, make sure you write down the word in time then fill out the rest -When asked Q's she briefly answers then moves on Nice lady but frustrating!
Worst Teacher I Ever Had. She is not clear, often she is lost in confusion, changes her mind often so that when you turn in work, she's changed the criteria. Asks you to write a research paper first before she actually shows you how to do it. Assumes everyone has taken statistics before CAS 301 when they have not and doesn't adjust her class to it.
This has been a fun class. Lots of opportunities to discuss what we're reading with classmates and in class. Engaging group activities make the class time fly by. She gave us extra credit to attend a meeting out in the community and meet real leaders. I would recommend this class to anyone interested in leadership.
Never take her. She cannot explain things clearly and she will throw surprises in the exams you wont be prepared for or know how to answer. She gets annoyed with you when you dont understand her. Very unorganized.
This has been a fun class. We have activities almost every week. Last week we did an egg drop exercise and this week she had the author of our text in class as a guest speaker! Who does that? She is a community leader and has lots of experience to share on this topic. I would take her again but this is the only class she teaches in this Dept.
Good class. Interactive lectures. Make sure to do the reading. She has lots of experience to share which brings the material to life. Fun activities as well. We had an interesting guest speaker who actually wrote the book we used. I think this class would help anyone learn more about themselves and leadership concepts in general. Recommended
As a future teacher, I don't know alot about research but I learned a lot in this class. It's fun to have class and then lab to practice with the Prof there to help. She cares about her students and the community she is involved in. You will learn more about writing from her as well. Come to class, pay attention, do the reading and you will pass.
This has been an interesting class during an interesting semester. With the scary speaker on Halloween dampening spirits in class, Dr. Stout used class time just to help us talk about it. She really seems to care about our well being which is the sign of a great leader I have learned. Fun, engaging activities. Opportunities for extra credit!
Tough class but required. I learned more about how to critically analyze research and how to write better in this course. Definitely do the reading before class. The computer lab is helpful too. We had a Peer Mentor who was also available to assist us. She allows a little extra credit if you attend a local community meeting so that was cool.
I did all the reading and attended every week on time. I participated in just about every class. I learned a good deal about leadership. I learned some things about myself in relation to leadership too. I got a good grade in this class and I would take Dr. Stout again for another class. She also offers extra credit for going to a community meeting.
Avoid Taking her if you are enrolling in CAS 301. Maybe she is better at teaching the other courses she has but she is very unclear and terrible for CAS 301. Does not provide enough feedback. Compared to other 301 professors she grades the hardest. Every other 301 final was out of 100 but hers was 200.
This class and the assignments in it are required by the Dept. The weightings on all the assignments are required by the Dept as well (although the points may vary from Prof to Prof). She is straightforward and interested in helping if you ask. You have to do your part though, this is not an easy class. I would take her again if I get the chance.
She is definitely a no nonsense Professor. Read the syllabus and do what you're supposed to do and you'll have a great experience. She taught me how to view research and how to write better. We got extra credit for attending a community meeting so that was cool too. The lab is fun. I would take her again.
She knows a lot about OC programs so is really helpful in this class where we have to volunteer at one. She is also the leader of a local program and shares real life experiences in class. She is concerned about us as we go through this process which is really cool. She was recommended by a friend who took her for 301 and I'm glad I listened
Tough class but the labs can be fun. She knows her stuff and holds everyone to high standards. Do your part and you will learn a lot. This class has helped me in many other classes since so it's definitely worth the effort. She knows a lot about nonprofits in OC. A friend recommended her and I would take her again.
Required class. You're gonna learn how to critically analyze research articles and how to build upon your academic writing skills. Lots of small weekly projects you do on the computers (this class meets in a computer lab). Reading is important if you want to pass. A fair amount of interaction with classmates was expected. Overall a good teacher.
I found her to be present and caring each week. She cares about her students as much as the material which is refreshing. She has a Peer mentor to help and the lab after class as well. She works in Fullerton to help agencies and schools make connections to better serve kids. Really cool! I intend to take her for another class if I can.
Stout is a sweet professor, but she is not clear. CAS 394 was supposed to be a class where we talk about our experiences throughout our internships, but instead we had to worry about studying for pointless exams and wrote intensive discussion post weekly. Although she is nice, I would not recommend to take her for this course.
She encouraged me to choose a site for good experience as opposed to getting easy hours. We had interesting discussions in every class. I thought the blogs were great. I had a confidential place to interact with my Professor. I'm looking forward to taking her again if I can.
I probably learned more practical work related things in this course than just about anything else I took in college. I was able to apply what we learned about each week in my own life and it has made a positive difference. I wish I could have taken the class earlier in my college career. She knows the nonprofit community in OC, well connected!
One of the most unorganized professors I've ever experienced. Her grading policy is unfair and be prepared for a quiz every class meeting. She does't take time to teach the material, just skims each powerpoint slide.
Debra Stout expects a lot from students yet when it comes to her responsibilities she is totally off. She wants a lot from her students yet take 3 MONTHS to grade a two page paper. Lastly she is rude and not understanding one bit. For example if an emergency happens (a death or sickness) even with documentation she deducts points. DO NOT TAKE HER
This is the worst class I have ever taken. I knew it was gonna be tough(4 week class),but this was ridiculous. Every week I had to email her directly to have her explain it more bc she was so vague. Didn't even help. One week the system crashed and we ended up having to do 2 wks worth of work in 1 wk. Avoid this prof. Doesnt care about her students
Fun class. Learned a lot about myself and about how to lead. Lots of class discussion to keep things moving along. She always asked how we were doing, I felt very cared for. I kinda wish there was an advanced leadership class we could take after this one. That would be very interesting.
I love online classes. She's probably better online than in person. There were some issues with the etext but not her fault. Fair balance of reading & work (considering it's only 5 a week summer class). Papers and PowerPoints due. Fair grader. Responds to concerns or questions quickly. Overall, I would recommend.
Do the work. Put thought into papers and weekly journals. Read the main points of the chapters before class. Exams are moderately difficult, but the essays are easy.
Not the best class (but required by dept) but she did OK. Very available outside of class. She also had a Peer Mentor who helped as well. This is a class and a computer lab where you can work and ask questions. Some extra credit offered! I would take her again.
2 texts, lots of small group work in class. Interesting guest speaker who wrote a leadership book. Come to class having done the reading, get involved and you'll do just fine. Offered some extra credit for attending a community event. She runs a non profit so lots of experience and stories to share. Recommended.
Dr. Stout is the worst professor I have taken at CalState Fullerton. Her lectures were unclear, vague and she is very unsure of herself. Her peer mentors were also a mess and not helpful at all. Avoid taking Dr. Stout especially for this class as it is a prerequisite for all other CAS classes.
She is friendly and fair. Very helpful in the lab after class. Offers extra credit.
I took this class online in the second summer semester. I thought it was well organized and presented. The workload was fair for a 4 week class. There were some online text issues but nothing that was her fault. I thought the assignments and discussions supported my learning on this subject. I would take another online course from her.
She pretty much stuck with the text and was straight forward. She really taught me to understand the research we have to read for this program. The lab assignments were right on in terms of helping me learn. I have a better understanding of writing well in APA Style now too. Those who came every week and did the reading seemed happy in the class.
She was a great online instructor. The class was very organized & set up the first day. She was involved online each week. She responded quickly to my questions. I will be taking more courses with her if I can.
I think she's a pretty good online instructor. Her class page is very organized, she obviously put some work into it before class (which I respect). She reaches out to us often with weekly announcements, feedback, and quick videos. Interesting reading & assignments. I would take other online courses with Dr. Stout for sure.
Let's just say that this is one of the most boring classes I have ever taken in my life, and she takes the class REALLY seriously. You would think most of it is common sense, but her quizzes are so weird; literally EVERYTHING sounds right. Just about everyone in the class fails the quizzes. TAKING HISTORY WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER.
Not an easy class but it comes with a lab so there is time to learn. She also has a helpful Peer Mentor. She tries to make material applicable in our own lives. She is very involved in the community so she has a lot of relevant examples. She gives extra credit for attending a community event. I would take her again.
I really didnt like Professor Stout. She was super boring, her lectures were boring and vague, and we spent half the class doing pointless group/partner work. There was tons of turn to the person next to you and talk about... and other busy work that was unnecessary. She used that time to grade and do other work that should be done outside class
She was one of the better online Professors I have had. I knew exactly what I needed to do each week and when it was due. Much more organized than most online courses I have taken at CSUF. The workload was fair and she responded to questions promptly. I will definitely take her again for a different online class if I can.
I would say this was pretty average for a 200 level course. I did the reading and paid attention in class, got all my stuff in on time and got a good grade in the course. We had some interesting discussions in class. I would take her again.
I am better prepared to lead today as a result of this class. I'm glad I took it. Lots of discussion in class about the theories and concepts covered in the reading. Interesting assignments. I had a good time in this class and would consider taking another course from Dr. Stout if I had the chance.
This class had an advocacy project about a bill, a (group) community resource project (both are presented to the class), & a quiz every week online over the chapter/s assigned in the textbook. There are a lot of in class discussions with a partner or group, but overall I really liked this professor which is rare for me when i take 3 hour classes
Good class, good reading, all assignments clearly related to topic material and are designed for your own growth. Probably harder for a shy student as lots of tabletop and all class discussion of materials. I felt engaged in the material and the class each week - learned a lot. I think she teaches this course online too. Recommended.
So this teacher is a nice lady but she really shouldn't teach a leadership class, she is not a leader. She is really strict about attendance (2 tardies is one absence and 2 absences make you drop a letter grade). Our classes are super pointless, she never goes over the test material and does very little lectures-all we do is small activities.
Unorganized, going to class is a waste of time but she's strict about attendance just like the last reviewer stated. Assigns too many things that are due at the same time. VERY strict about APA format. Doesn't give a lot of time for exams (30 minutes for 25 questions??. She might be better online but don't take her and save yourself the stress.
Disorganized. Dates on the syllabus are from previous semester. In class meetings kinda pointless, it's nice that she does activities/games, but I pay money 2 learn test-related material so I can pass, not to play games. Rarely ever goes over the test material. Too many activities. Not enough lecture/concept learning. Nice, but not the best teacher
This was one of the most well organized online classes I have ever taken. I knew exactly where to go and what to do. The readings were balanced each week and do able. The assignments were fair and related to the readings. I learned a lot about leadership and how it applies to me. I would take another online class from Dr. Stout if she offered them!
This was an online class and an excellent way to take it. She's pretty organized as far as online courses go. Responds quickly and friendly to questions. Usual amount of reading and coursework. I was never overwhelmed. Uses online etext for this course which tracks your interaction with the material. I would take her again.
She has been in the nonprofit and educational fields for a long time so she was helpful from the start to get us placements. Class if often about small groups talking about what is going on at our placements & sharing in the big class. Workload was easy really. She was friendly and supportive all semester. I would recommend her for this class.
Not an easy A type of class but if you apply yourself you will do fine. The content (reading) is interesting and definitely applicable to your life whether you want to lead or not. I learned a lot. She clearly put some work into setting this course up. Very organized so it's easy to know what is due when. Responds to calls/emails quickly.
Dr. Stout does not have the platform Titanium organized considering it was an online class. She hardly emails students as a class when there are errors or issues with the platforms titanium or Pearson Revel. Her deadlines are at random times. She does not extend the time to do an assignment when she has a delay on her end.
DO NOT SIGN UP FOR HER CLASS! Professor Stout was one of the worst professors I have ever had. She made this class soo much harder than it should have been. She is a very unorganized teacher and half the time she didnt even know what she was taking about. Whenever you asked her a question she always said she would get back to you. Very unorganized
I think the class is well organized (compared to other online courses). Weekly work is built around publisher platform. Good interaction with classmates and Dr Stout. She holds online office hours each week if you have a question. This is a challenging class but much better online than in person. I would take her for another class.
This was a great class. Lots of reading and interacting with classmates but since it's online I didn't have to deal with parking! Everything was online and organized on the first day. I thought it was clear and easy to get a decent grade in this course. She was quick to respond to my emails as well. I would take her again.
This is such a fun class. I learned about qualities of leadership while also looking at myself. I would say the way Dr. Stout teaches this class really gets you thinking on many levels. The assignments are fair and there is a lot of class interaction for an online class which I loved! I felt connected. Highly recommended!
This is a great class. Good textbook although a little old. She balances teaching theory with supporting us at our sites. Open to questions and involves the class in the process of discussion. She's also an Executive Director so is a perfect fit for this kind of class!
This was one of the more organized online classes I have taken. She clearly cares about her students and is very supportive. She seems to know her stuff as well. Workload was fair. Good text. I felt involved in this class. I would take her again I if could.
Fun class. Lots of discussion so do the reading. She made class interesting, applicable and fun. Fair grader. Very helpful in terms of finding a site at the start.
This class was pretty cool You learn about yourself as you learn about leadership. Everything is laid out very nicely for an online class. She is clearly prepared in advance for this class. The reading was ok and assignments are spread out evenly and manageable. She is a fair grader and seems concerned about her students.
Worst professor ever! She doesnt explain assignments and when she is approached by someone asking for help, her reply is very rude and not even helpful! If you mess up on any of your papers you might as well drop the course because she will give you an F regardless of your efforts to recover.
I generally consider myself a good student but it was so hard to stay motivated in this class because the professor did not seem to care about us except when it came to grading. She is possibly the worst professor I have ever had. Zero inspiration, very distant and might as well let her assistant be the teacher. Would NEVER recommend to take her.
She isn't bad but everything's confusing and not well organized. I'm taking her online and she is not clear with assignments, how many people in a group for a project, etc. I've had better professors but overall not too bad.
I found the class to be straightforward. I reached out to her several times and got a good response. This is a good class to take online if you are self motivated to do the reading and assignments. It saves a lot of time! You do need to put in the work to get a good grade but it is certainly attainable if you are willing.
I took the online class for this professor and it was the WORST. She offers no leniency on late assignments and does not even respond to your emails. She does not understand that students may have other things going on in their lives. Might as well take a class with a professor who meets face-to-face.
This class does not meet upper-level class quality. I didn't learn anything from this class. There were duplicated documents on the Titanium. She changed her requirements after we finished the assignment. The worst thing was the professor and Class TA gave different instructions. You only have 20 minutes to complete two short eassy questions.
Enjoyed this class. Everything was organized and together before the start of the semester. Workload was fair for the type of class. She is a parent who is involved in her community so she knows what she is talking about. I found her to be friendly yet professional with me. She responded quickly to my questions. I will take her again if possible.
Took during stressful COVID-19 transition. She made a grading error a month before the final. AFTER the final, she penalized everyone by deducting 5 points for HER mistake. In an updiv class with no + / - , 5 points was the threshold needed for a whole letter grade in my case. Others got 397 with a C instead of 400 with a B after the "correction"
Even though I received an A in the class, she played no part with my learning. She did not respond to my emails or responded too late. She nitpicked and penalized my grammar instead of giving me useful feedback on the content of my responses. Ignore her powerpoints, not useful, just read yourself. She also made a grading error that affected others.
You would think that a professor would be more lenient and compassionate during the times of a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. Instead all she did was cause more unnecessary stress for her students, especially with the maneuvers she did with the grades that were the result of her own mistake. Now the students have to suffer from it. Its hard to stay engaged with
tedious class and didnt respond to my emails DONT TAKE
Things to consider for online class: 1. Hard to reach directly (her TA carried the class) 2. Doesn't feel very involved with the class at any point. 3. Will take M A N Y points off at opportunity (to the point that it seems unjustified). 4. Only time she came off as kind and caring: SOQ season 5. Passionate about CHAD? She'll still make you hate it
I worked SO hard in this class and learned NOTHING. You teach yourself by reading the textbook. Didn't reply to emails for our ONLINE class. Her written portion on the test was like 2 questions with 20min limit but each question had like 3-4 long parts to it. Plus, 0 empathy for students in hard situations during COVID. I really regret taking her.
Plenty of homework weekly: 8-10 online quizzes and a 350 word count research post w/ 3+ replies to your classmates. --- Exams had 2 parts to them A.) 70 Q MC B.) 2-3 free responses, w/ each having 2-3 parts to them. You only get 20 mins btw. Good luck, mate!
VERY TOUGH GRADER!!! Took her online class and she require an annotated biblio before turning in your essay and she docked so many points off. Lots of reading, quizzes, and homework. Never thought I would hate an online class.
I thought this was a great class. Everything was laid out on day 1 in TITANium and is very clear. It was easy to see how ti earn an A. I followed her assignment directions carefully, turned every assignment in on time, did all the assigned reading, studies very well for exams and earned an A in this course. I would take her again.
Professor Stout doesn't communicate with her students. Exams are RIDICULOUSLY hard. It's a class that requires a lot of effort on the student's part. Find a different professor to take. You have been warned.
This is a theory class so get ready to read. The assignments tie in well with class objectives. Quizzes and tests are not difficult if you do the reading and other assignments. She is a fair grader and gives good feedback. I reached out to her personally on 2 occasions and she responded within a day. I had no problem with her teaching style.
Fun class. Lots of interaction with classmates & Professor, even though it's an online course. The reading was interesting and applicable in life beyond just leadership. Class was organized and balanced in terms of work required. I would recommend this class for anyone who needs 3 random units to graduate!
If you are looking for an "easy online class", this is not it. Then again, this is not considered an easy in-person class in our program either. She is very organized which makes understand what you need to do each week very easy. Fair workload but you cannot work too far ahead. She is involved with the class and very helpful. TAs are helpful too.
I signed up for this class because of all the good reviews on here but was unexpectedly disappointed. The professor didn't communicate with the students at all through email and when she did respond she didn't care about what we had to say.
She is so involved in the community, a perfect match for teaching this kind of class. This was fun class until Covid forced us online. Dr. Stout clearly cared about us as this happened. She did her best to support us in a very difficult situation. We all still got credit for our practicum sites and I am grateful for her advocacy on our behalf.
I changed my major because of Ms. Stout. It was hard to stay focused and motivated in a class where we had copious amounts of homework. Deadlines were also not adjusted if there was a mistake made on her end.
Very well organized class. Easy to earn a good grade if you simply follow directions, do the work, and get everything in on time.
Very student focused and process focused teaching style. The amount of work was equal to my expectations for this level of class. Dr. Stout asked a lot about how we were doing which was nice. Very available to meet outside of class via text, call or even zoom which was convenient.
She didnt care about her students and took off points on every assignment every chance she got. Take someone else.
She was one of very few Profs I had that allowed extra credit. We attended meetings in the community & a Woman's Club fundraiser as well. This service and the people I met there turned into my first professional job. She was very nice and very helpful to me. I would definitely take her class again!
She taught me how to read and understand research. More importantly, she also taught me how to write about it. This was a challenging class that few liked but the things I learned served me well for the rest of my time at CSUF and for that I am thankful. I would have liked to take one of her other more fun classes but never got the chance.
I was impressed that the class was done on the first day. It was not built as we went along. Laid out in a straightforward manner that made knowing what I had to do each week very easy. All assignments had instructions. A good deal of reading but interesting & overlaps previous courses so not too bad. Overall I would say this was a good class.
Fun class because you're working with kids and learning the professional side. She is already an Executive Director so she knows her stuff on non-profits. Always concerned about our well being in class, we had great discussions all semester. She even helped me find my placement and later I was hired on! I would recommend her to friends!
A lot of reading but interesting stuff at least. Workload was moderate but fair for the level of the class. She was responsive to class comments and questions. Sometimes gives audio or video feedback on assignments. That was cool!
I thought this was a fun class. It was interesting to hear her stories about her professional leadership work. She seemed to want to make sure we were applying this stuff in our own lives. In this way I learned more about leadership while learning more about myself as well. Interesting reading and guest speakers.
She has been teaching online for a while so this class is already nicely put together. Assignments were straightforward and in line with class readings and goals. Good deal of interaction between classmates and Dr. Stout in class. She clearly cares about her students, checking in with us several times throughout the semester. I would take her again
Good class. Interesting reading material. Fair workload. She offers extra credit. Glad I took this class.
The first of 2 required classes. Everything is online but she only opens a little of class at a time. She is organized and very fair. Often checked in to see how we were doing - which I thought was very nice. I think she cares about her students and her community. I also found her to be encouraging!
Tough class but she does her best to keep it interesting. There is reading and a required lab but you will learn a lot about research. She had a student assistant that was very helpful as well. I will take her again if I can.
If you want the truth, here it is: She doesn't seem to care about you as a student or whether you learn anything. Grading toughness varies so you never know what to expect, does not respond to her emails and basically you teach yourself. CAS dept has great professors, but she definitely misses the mark. I don't understand all the good ratings...
I know you see a lot of conflicting ratings. I can almost guarantee that you will regret taking this class. It will consume all of your time and you will walk away without any meaningful knowledge. I am not a lazy student , I just do not like to have my time and money wasted. This class is not CSUF quality.
I do not understand the good reviews. My experience was awful. Tests were difficult and tricky, and short answers with such little time to complete. The class received more emails from her course assistant than the professor. Grading was so random that you cannot understand her standards. I would take someone else to avoid the stress.
I thought she did a great job with this class. The assignments were straight forward. Good text and assignments related to course material. This is actually the second course I have taken from Dr. Stout. I would take her again if I could.
I took Dr. Stout for 325a and now 310. I think she does a good job if you're willing to do the work. She challenges me to be better. I like that she's a parent and a community leader so she brings a lot into the classroom in terms of relevant experience. Her online classes are also organized (she knows what she's doing). I would take her again!
I didnt expect to be writing so many papers on top of our weekly assignments. Definitely does not help make the pandemic situation easier on you. I think the professor thinks this is our only class that we have to worry about. Took this class as an elective and its the reason for my stress.
This class comes with a lab but its fun because you can get help right there. Some of the time we spend on our own working on stuff and some of the time she is teaching. Optional meetings with her are nice, she is very supportive. I would take her again because I know her now.
This is a fun class. Dr. Stout is a HUSER grad so that's cool too. She is already a leader in the community so she knows her stuff. She tried to make class interactive. Good reading. Good videos. Guest Speaker was really great too. he's an author himself. There is a lot of writing but it's all about an interesting subject.
Please avoid her at all costs. Her directions are so confusing and she leaves you in the dark. Her quizzes are extremely difficult and very detailed. 10 quizzes, 3 tests, 1 project, and 10 activities. Even through the pandemic, she did not allow any late assignments and piled on the assignments without a regard for difficult times.
Good class. Set up nicely online (she's not a newbie at this). She is organized and available if you need to pop in to one of her online (Zoom) office hours. Good listener. Wants to help you succeed both in her class and professionally. This was my second class with her. I would take her again if I get the chance.
She went above and beyond this semester with extra drop in office hours. She introduced us to all kinds of interesting psychological tests this semester. As a result of this class, I can now walk into any student's IEP & understand what is being discussed. I am conversant in the tests they typically use. Thank you Dr. Stout for another great class
Everyone in the class felt lost. I felt like I was teaching myself. She is an easy grader, so if u absolutely have to take her thats fine. However, her tests are very disorganized and everyone felt as if they were drowning in work. This was by far the hardest class I have ever taken. You dont need to buy any of the textbooks either.
Not an easy class but because of the Lab you will get more face time with the Professor which is good. Do the readings, pay attention in class and take the labs seriously and you should do fine. This is what I did to earn my A in the class. I would take her again if I had the chance.
This was a fun class. Lots of interaction with classmates about the material. She was always checking in with us to see how we were doing. She clearly cares about her students and this subject. She leads a local non-profit program so she knows her stuff. Reading was interesting and all assignments applied to course material. I would recommend her.
Not the most fun class but it's required and Dr Stout makes the best of it. Her lectures are engaging and at times fun. She also uses breakout rooms. She teaches valuable techniques that will likely help you in future classes and life as well. I found the labs to be useful and she is available to answer questions. I enjoyed this semester.
I did not go into this class highly interested but the topic grew on me. Learned a lot about psych testing and myself while playing around with all the tests Dr. Stout introduced us to. A good deal of reading but it's applicable to a career with youth so that's chill. I worked for my grade but got it so I'm good with the outcome.
This class was super challenging, but I learned a lot. I felt that Dr. Stout was a fair grader, she helped with studying for exams, and made the information we learned interesting. She is organized, will upload grades quickly, and will respond to emails promptly. Take detailed notes from the book and her PowerPoints to do well on the exams.
This was not a hard class at all but did have a fair amount of writing. She does her best to engage everyone in class online. You will spend time with peers in breakout rooms. She also will visit the breakout rooms once in a while to check in. Not the best teacher I have ever had, but certainly not the worst. I made an effort and got a good grade.
This was a fun class. There is some interaction with classmates required. Fair assignments and grading. Everything pretty much related to the reading. I would take her again and recommend her if asked.
One of my biggest regrets is taking her! The tests are demonic hard and there is TOO MUCH homework!! You will spend the majority of your time on her class versus all the other ones you are taking.
This was a fun class. Very organized which I appreciate. There is some group work, even in an online class but it was manageable and I had a good experience. She is very involved in the class. Good reading material. I would take her again.
This is a tough class but also required by CHAD. I learned so many things about testing that are going to help me in my future career as a teacher. The assignments help support the core material for class which is nice. Every week we had the chance to play around with a different test ourselves.
She is more available than any other Prof I have this semester. Always willing to meet outside of class to help clarify or just discuss. Great stories about public school issues. She knows a lot about community agencies so that's chill too. Assignments and grading seem fair. I plan to take her again in a future semester.
Good class. She's very interactive and wants you involved in class. She knows her stuff so it's time well spent. She's also very involved in the community. If I remember correctly, she gave extra credit for attending a meeting in the community. Assignments and tests were straight forward and right out of the reading so do the reading!
She was my most accessible Prof this semester. Even though it was mostly an asynchronous class she was around and available a couple times a week for any questions or concerns. Good class materials and assignments. Fair grading. She expressed her concern for each of us all semester. Content was tough at times but she really helped us through it.
CAS 494 Practicum class, didn't have the option. Discussion board post & assignment due every week. 2 exams. advocacy project. Keep up w/ everything in the class & see her in office hours w/ specific questions you want help on you will be fine, you can pass. GET THE BOOK (got mine on chegg)---READ THE BOOK exams are strictly based on it.
This was my hardest class but Dr. Stout was the most available & helpful Prof I had. She went above and beyond to support us with videos, feedback & even the zoom classes. I think she really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. I learned a lot of practical knowledge about testing that will help me as a teacher in this class.
About 3-4 assignments per week, with strict word count typically 500+. 3 journal reflections. 1 group project. Strict grader. Overall, the class was not pleasant to take. However, it is doable.
Difficult to access some assignments, and the final is very hard. Highly not recommended.
Very challenging online class in 5 weeks. Many online discussions, much more work than other similar classes -- but all valuable. Fair grader, very accessible, loves her subject. Final exam had 60 questions. 2nd part had 3 tough essay questions in 45 minutes, not enough time to answer properly. But, learned a lot & would take her again.
This was a TOUGH class, but Prof Stout really cares and explains everything thoroughly. She is a fair grader and accessible outside class. I learned a ton, and the course helped me become a better student overall. You MUST put the work in, and if you do, you'll do fine in the class.
She is a nice, friendly, and accessible person but this class had a lot of assignments (about 4 a week on average). She is also a tough grader when it comes to the journals. Her assignments were hard to keep up with since they could differ weekly. Quizzes were easy. If you take this class with her, I suggest working on time management.
There is a lot of work that needs to be done in a short amount of time. I took this online during the fall semester and I had more work to do for this class than I had for my other classes combined. I walked away from the class not feeling like I could be a leader or would even want to be. I would not take her class again
Had 5 classes and this class accounted for about 75% of my weekly workload. Lots of writing - weekly discussions, 3 journal essays. Weekly quizzes and questionnaires from the textbook. Group project was creating a website + individual essay.
Tons of writing (essays, discussions, etc.) with strict word limits. Stingy grader. One essay involved interviewing a leadership figure in which she expected a CEO, COO, or Dean as your interviewee because a professor or shift lead isn't good enough.
This was a fun class. We learned about leadership but we learned about ourselves as well. Lots of opportunities to personalize assignments which helps keep me engaged. Good reading and discussions. Guest speakers too! I would take a class with her again.
She makes you get the textbook which is sometimes necessary. There is a lot of easy busy work in this class so get ready for that. She is pretty sweet if you reach out tho! She does do a total of 3 exams, multiple choice which are open notes. There is no papers assigned but there is an ongoing advocacy project which is easy. Easy class for seniors.
If we can give ratings based on how nice someone is...she would receive an A. She is a TOUGH grader. Get ready to read, read, and read. Her lectures are different from her zoom videos. In the first part of the semester you are prepping to write a literature review. Miss one lab and you're done-zo.
She made a tough, required class livable. Available for easy and quick zoom check ins if needed. Most assignments are departmental requirements for this class so everyone taking the class does the same things for the most part. She has an interesting background & has been involved in our County for a long time. I want to take her again now.
This was a fun class. Interesting topics. Some of it about leadership & some of it about me (more introspective). She will get you thinking, that's for sure! This class is full of life lessons. Good text, good assignments. I would recommend this class. I would take her again if I can.
Do not take her. trust me
Overwhelming instructions. Discussion boards were ridiculous demands to word limits, responses and rubric. Too much assignments for a fieldwork class. Ridiculous amount due in each week. The process of going back on some days to make sure you responded to peers was overwhelming and sometimes forgetful.
Very apathetic. Technical issues? Need Clarification? Trouble with new software? Pooh, that sucks sweetheart, better luck next time:( No credit 4 u lol Felt like replying "thanks for nothing", bc that's what I got. "Sucks for you" type of responses to emails. She's not the worst, but has rigid guidelines and is not at all sympathetic.
For this class, there are labs due every week, but they are straight to the point. Only 3 major assignments! Quizzes are easy as long as your read the chapter and lecture notes that she provides. Class meeting are interesting and she makes it fun by interacting with us.
She has taught this class for a long time and it shows. I found it to be organized and she was very available every time I asked for help. Most assignments are required by the Dept so it doesn't matter whose class you take. I found Dr. Stout to be interested, supportive and kind. I'm hoping to take her again before I graduate.
Nice teacher who works in the community a lot so she knows her stuff. She helped me find a placement & was very available all semester when things came up. Fun class.
This was a good class. Not necessarily an easy class, you have to work for it but the content is interesting. The workload was very manageable if you stay on top of it. Lots of life lessons while learning about yourself and how to lead. She is nice & very caring bout students. I hope to be able to make more classes with Dr. Stout!
Cas 301 was already challenging as it is, however, what made the class more challenging was Dr. Stout's lack of consideration for her students. Personal situations come up, we are only human & Dr. Stout made it seem like it was impossible to ever be ill or have problems. She wouldn't extend due date & docked 10% even if you were in the hospital.
The coursework itself is really challenging and super time-consuming. However, the professor is very knowledgeable and tries her best to make you understand concepts. A lot of tests, time-consuming labs, and assignments. You put in a lot of time for very little academic reward as most of your grade is the tests and labs.
I would disagree with some of the negative comments. You have to work for your grade; if you put in the time and effort, you will get the deserving grade. She assigns weekly quizzes and lecture notes; I took her on Zoom, so attendance is very important, along with her lab work. This is a class where you can not do assignments last minute.
This course is difficult as it is and she goes fast! You really need to put in time. Read, YouTube, go to tutoring, just dont fall behind. I learned the most from my tutor. She's not very good at clarifying information. She just repeats what you need help with.
For a practicum course, there was an excessive workload. I found balancing this class with my internships, other courses, and full-time job challenging. Her directions for her assignments tend to be all over the place, lacking clarity and conciseness.
If you're looking for an easy GE in lifelong development this ain't it. The class material is really good but I was incredibly frustrated with the workload being higher than my upper division graduate level courses. Professor is passionate but takes herself and the class way too seriously. I did the dance and got an A but was consistently pissed.
This was a fun class. Lots of life lessons that will surely help me here and beyond. Most people in the class seemed to like it. There were a few students who were clearly unhappy from the start. She did her best to help everyone have a good experience. There is reading & assignments that need to be done. This class is not an "easy A".
This is not an easy class but Dr. Stout makes it bearable. She is approachable, friendly & very supportive. You will challenged in this class but you will also learn a lot. I would take her again if I have the chance.
This is one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. Dr. Stout is a good professor but sometimes is confusing and the work is heavy. This class is tough in general and you have to work for your grade. She is very approachable, humorous, and respected. The work can get overwhelming but planning and using all her resources will set you up for success.
Professor Stout was interesting. Lectures were very confusing, she often spoke to little on important topics and expected you to sort of know the concepts. Often cancelled class and required you to work online. She is also a tough grader. Professor Stout was kind but overall, as a professor for such a hard class, she could have been better.
It was ridiculous how she expected us to balance our internship site while assigning us a crazy amount of work every week. There are 3 deadlines for one assignment on top of wanting us to comment on the lecture slides weekly, and doing in-class assignments, on top of getting the internship paperwork settled and doing our hours. This is not normal.
Dr. Stout is an amazing professor! Anyone can pass this class as long as YOU are responsible for keeping up with assignments (they're not hard), but just like any other class there will be weekly assignments. Don't procrastinate to register for CICE placement so you have more than enough time to complete your 60 hours.
This teacher was difficult when it came to grading things, but I really liked it because it was helpful in growing my knowledge. The tests within this class are hard, but they really prepare you for the final. I have heard other people who took different teachers say that they felt as though they weren't prepared for their final.
If you want to fail a class or hang on by a thread, take her! She holds a challenging class. The class is all in-person, but it treats it as a hybrid class. She is very heavy with assignments. The first day there, she said, "Some of you may fail and retake," Which I definitely think is not something you should be proud of
From the start, she already says that this is not going to be an easy class, which is true. She will guide you through each assignment. A lot of assignments throughout, but manageable. Although she doesn't explain the material clearly, she simply reads or describes the topic.
