She is very challenging, but you learn alot. She curves the tests.
Cares more about getting through the material than actually teaching it
Fair and very helpful- challenging class- she loves what she does.
really enthusiastic about what she does, hard but helpful

Excellent teacher, very energitic and resonable. Just's are hard.

Attempts to be funny. Loves proving Math. Tests are extremely challenging.

great class, MAJOR curving and always partial credit. 3 tests and final
great prof, very helpful, hard tests
good professor, difficult, but scaled tests
great at teaching the material. learns your name, encourages questions
a little odd, but very nice, funny, energetic. good prof.
Great teacher for math and willing to help.
Hard tests but wants students to learn. Cuves alot
Great Teacher! Very motivating. Makes math exciting. Curves test grades a lot.
Tests are difficult but she curves a lot. Very friendly, helpful professor, you'll have to do the hw b/c she collects it, but you'll learn a lot.
Hey Deb! I like the one that said you were odd! LOL! Funny! >>Stephie<<
Excellent professor!!!
Stephy- I'd say quirky, not odd. Well, maybe odd. But mostly quirky. She's awesome. The library fumes are affecting my brain, methinks. Or the fumes coming from our carpet. ~L.
This is a HARD class, but you will learn a lot and Dr. Warne is a great teacher with a real passion for her work.
I took her for 235 and 236 because she was so great. I would have taken her again for 237 but I didnt take the class. She's great, by the end of the semester she's definitely your friend. I still go to her for help/advice. Wonderful person & teacher.
Best math prof. at JMU. Involves students in lectures (keeps you on your toes). Very clear and makes material so much more understandable! If you want to know your stuff take her class.
Dr. Warne is such eye candy! Way to go Paul! Good find!
class i impossible and she takes pride in it. I spend almot 20 hour a week outside of class doing work for 248. She is nice but still avoid her.
Math248 is quite possibly the most difficult and time consuming course I have ever taken. However, with Dr. Warne it was worth it. Shes a bit excentric, but it keeps you on your feet in class. I definetly put upwards of 20 to 30 hours outside of class per week. Attend the lectures, its vital.
This woman has lost her mind. Absolutely amazing teacher though. You will learn so much by taking one of her classes. Extremely engaging of the students and actually gets involved outside the classroom. One of the best profs. in the math dept. if you can get a class with her...do it.
She is a GREAT professor, but wants to make sure you know your stuff. If you like Math and want to learn from a helpful, interesting prof. definitely take her! If you are a math major you HAVE to have a class with Deb Warne before you graduate! Take her!
Any class of hers is very difficult, but by the time you're done you will own the material. Great teacher overall, has a sense of humor and keeps math interesting. Only complaint is her uncanny ability to collect homework on the one day you didnt do it.
She's a little nuts, but not very hard. Grading is three tests, final, and attendance. I thought the material was so easy that I skipped the first few weeks and it hurt me. Go to class, study for a bit and it's pretty easy.
terrible class. belittles her students by picking on them and sending them to the board. mandatory attendance policy. avoid 103 if possible
Simply does not teach the material. Expects you to teach it to yourself from the HW she assigns and then answers a few questions and moves on. Also forces students at complete random to answer questions they don't understand. Just avoid this class, it's useless.
To the two previous ratings: STOP BEING WHINING BRATS!!! God forbid you have a teacher who ACTUALLY makes you do work! If you don't like work, go back to McDonalds and flip burgers! You wouldn't know a good professor if they hit you with a text book! You are pathetic excuses for college students. Grow up!
She's a nut. The math itself isn't hard, and she grades fairly with 3 tests, a final, extra credit oppurtunities and attendance/participation... but she's a bit crazy. Oh well, atleast she made us laugh.
She was so nice and always helped out when needed. She only questions you on the material that you were SUPPOSED to have read the night before. It's only 1 section of stuff, and she's so silly/nutty that it's funny.
Dr. Warne is an awesome teacher. She keeps math interesting, something not easily done. It helps a lot of you keep up with your homework, but definatly not mandatory. I hated math before I took this class, I still do not like it, but it definatly was a favorite class of mine! I would recommend taking it!
Class is extremely boring, but the material is extremely easy. Do your homework and go to class. She gives many oppurtunities for extra credit. Unfortunately, her laugh is probably the worst sound I've ever heard and she does tend to laugh inexplicably for the entire class. Annoying.
shes a little weird.. she does random things at times but overall the class is reallyyy easy!
she is SO helpful! i barely did any work for this class and got a C...but if you apply yourself you can definitely do better. she will help you whenever you need! she's also really friendly- she still says hi to me all the time around campus. she really cares about her students.
I love this woman. She is so awesome. First day i walked into the class i was a little freaked out casue she is pretty much off the wall but it keeps you interested, likes her students, and she is fun, answers questions, curves tests, i really like her and am taking her next semester as well.
She is very nice, tests are extremely hard, almost impossible. hopefuly she curves. quizzes are just as hard as tests.
She is impossible. She can't explain the topic to save her life. If she asks a question and the students don't immediately answer her, she goes berserk. She flipped a desk over in my class. She's crazy and unstable. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. She is a horrible teacher.
tests are absolutely impossible. she has to curve them all and curve the class average at the end. nice teacher though
she is a good teacher... but her tests are impossible!!! i dont think anyone actually did well in class! I studied really hard and never did better than a C. Plus she is weird.
Dr. Warne is a great professor and is really good at explaining things. She is a bit eccentric but it only makes class more interesting. Make sure you do your homework because she uses those problems for her quizzes. The tests are impossible, but she always curves them pretty reasonably.
Dr. Warne is an AMAZING professor. Honestly, her tests aren't impossible. You just really have to take that step forward and think beyond yourself. They're difficult, but the knowledge you get at the (after curves) makes you feel GREAT at the end. If you want a challenge, take her. But be ready to put your all into this class.
Whoever thinks that Debra Warne is a hard teacher is an idiot. If you have not taken calculus prior to college I don't know how you even got into JMU. Everything on tests was straight from lectures. Curves were there but only bumped up the lowest of low grades, got an A in the class just by showing up to every lecture.
Dr. Warne is great. She makes class interesting in a quirky way and really knows what she is talking about. She is approachable. Says she believes in tests that stretch you, if you want to learn math take her!
I LOVE HER!!! seriously she makes class, and calculus in general, so interesting... probably the best math teacher i've ever had. very helpful too! TAKE HER!!!
DR. WARNE IS AWSOME!!! I wish she taught MATH 236 next semester. She really knows what she is talking about and really forces to understand the concepts of calc. instead of just its application. She truly cares about the education of her students and will make every effort to acomadate every student. I have an A in the class too!!!! TAKE HER!!!!!!!
Dr. Warne is the way a college professor in my mind is supposed to be: passionate and clear. Never had calc before and really understood it and loved it. Homework is not collected but defently helps with tests. She gives a few quizzes to make sure you are ready for the 3 tests.
Dr. Warne is a really nice and entertaining lady. Very high-energy though so I wouldn't recommend taking an early class with her. Be prepared for your hand to fall off writing notes. Tests are very difficult and she assigns boatloads of homework. Her class is not an easy A, or in fact even an easy B. Be prepared to work hard for a B.
The lady loves teaching math, which is amazing in itself. This is not an easy class at all, but you will learn. If you want her to be, she is very helpful. She will do just about anything to help you if you put forth the effort. I recommend her not only as a teacher, but as someone to guide yuou throughout your college experience
This is not the class to take if you're a slacker. she wastes no time getting into the material, and is a hard teacher without a doubt. however, she loves the subject and is clear and concise. do everything her way; staple homeworks, actually do homeworks, etc., and she's a great teacher.
Calc is hard. She makes it understandable. She is super nice and funny, but sometimes over estimates time slots so it's a rush to get through. It's nothing that can't be solved by office hours or the math lab. Of all the calc profs here, she came the best recomended.
I never understood calc before I took her class, and she made everything so understandable! She is kind of crazy, but a very good teacher. You barely use the book at all, and all the homework is online. Her extra credit questions on test are strange (ex Name the 3 Stooges)
Second time through this course and the differences between her and Adams is amazing. She really cares about the subject and wants to make sure students get it. The homework is on webwork and you can keep trying till you get it right. Her quizzes and tests are really easy. She is quirky and entertaining. I got an A.
Dr. Warne is different than any teacher/professor I have ever had but she is extremely knowledgeable in Calculus and is always willing to help. Practically never used the book and all homework is online which helps understanding. I'd recommend taking her, I got an A. Attendance isn't mandatory but recommended.
Dr. Warne is the best professor at jmu. Clear explanations and straight forward exams/quizes. Take good notes and you will do well.
Very nice and easy to get along with. She's very eccentric and LOVES to talk about calculus, so much so that she can go on rants about it o.o Great teacher, but she's a little wild. Gives extra credit on tests~
I love Dr. Warne. She loves math so much and keeps you awake even at 9AM. She is very strict about you showing all your work on tests and quizzes, which is how I got most of my points off. She gives a lot of partial credit though which is helpful. Definitely not a hard class, but you have to pay attention and do homework!
Probably the best professor for teaching 205. She's kind of crazy but it keeps the subject interesting. Her tests aren't too difficult but she will take off for not having "grammatically correct" mathematical equations, which is where I lost most my points. She really wants you to do well and don't hesitate to visit her office hours.
Professor Warne is the BEST math teacher ever, she is really fun and easily approachable, make sure you take notes especially in definitions(they will appear word for word on quizzes and tests) she also gives really funny extra credits questions as well. Also absoutely do the WEBWORK ?'s it will be very helpful in understanding the material
She's great. She will always ask the class if everyone understands before she moves on to the next section and she's really nice. Its hard to fall asleep in her class cuz shes kinda loud and engaging. Homework is optional but if you do it she gives out extra credit all the time. Tests sre moderate
Professor Warne is a great professor. The class is difficult but that's because of the content not because of the professor. She is fantastic and extremely passionate about Calculus! Make sure you take good notes - write down the definitions word for word!
No need to buy the textbook. Just make sure to take notes, especially definitions, cause they'll be on the tests each time. There's a couple of open-notes quizzes and 4 tests. She curves grades a lot! I mean it, A LOT! She's very nice and always willing to help. Take her
Best prof for 205! I took this class and failed it twice before Dr.Warne, now I have a B!! She puts curves on every test, and its possible to ge100s on all the homework, espescially if you take advantage of the math help center. She's a little goofy but you get used to it. Plus, she's super nice.
LOVE Dr. Warne! She is super upbeat and truly loves math. She's a great explainer and very helpful in office hours. Definitely take her class if you have taken calc before, as she really helps reinforce all concepts. All tests are curved. WeBWork homework assignments can be a pain, but pay attention in class and do the work, and you should be fine.
Just do not take her.
At first I thought she was so strange, but very quickly I got used to her and it didn't bother me at all. The class is easy. And I used to hate math.
She is a little strange and it gets a tough to pay attention sometimes because she gets so enthusiastic and just takes off haha. But she is a very nice lady. The online homework can get annoying, so make sure you understand how to use it. I would almost advise not buying the textbook because we only ever used it for extra practice problems.
By far the CRAZIEST and FUNNIEST teacher at JMU. She maybe cooky and go on tangents alot, but she makes Calc fun! She clearly has an interest in the class and makes you wanna learn. However her tests are HARD and most of the time she goes too fast, and you can get lost and confused easily! Class averages range from 50%-60% usually. She does CURVE.
I LOVED Dr. Warne!!! She truly is such a funny and sweet professor. By far my favorite at JMU so far. She is so helpful outside of class and always kept class upbeat. If you have taken calc before it should be a breeze. If you haven't, she may teach a little fast but it's necessary to get through the material. Overall fantastic class. TAKE HER!!!
I would do better off teaching myself the material.
She's a little bit out there and it seems like she can never quite get her thoughts together. She says "ummmm soooo" and "and Ummm" 10 times a class period at least. The text book isn't really a textbook. And what we learned is in a round about way of being related to math. She may be a great person, & an okay teacher.
8 different type of crazy, in the best way possible. If "normal" math isn't your thing, take this class! She was awesome, made lectures understandable and interesting because she's a nut. There's a good balance of grades between participation, group projects, tests, quizzes, and a paper, so nothing is high-stress. Easy!
Debra has a lot of energy and loves math. She goes really fast in class and sometimes its hard to understand, but if you go to class you'll be fine. She is SUPER nice and helpful in office hours if you go out of your way and she curves grades A LOT which helped me out so much. Altogether a great woman but not an easy class. Don't buy the book
Professor Warne is one of the best professor I have taken at JMU. She is enthusiastic and teaches calc in a way that is clear and easy to follow. Attending class in neccessary, but that is expected with a math class. The online homeworks are long and tedious but they are exremely helpful when it comes to exams and they are a great grade booster.
Very easy if you took calc before.
Took her over the summer. She is a saint!
Dr. Warne is very smart, but I am horrible at math and struggle in her class. The good: attendance is an easy 10%, group presentations are 25% and peer reviews are 5%. So 40% of your grade is easily an A. She also has a much easier grading scale. The bad: midterms are tough and a good chunk of your grade and she's hard to follow when she teaches.
I took her for the Nature of Mathematics my first semester at JMU. She's kinda eccentric, and the math we did was very random, but other than that it was pretty easy.
This class is fairly easy, she goes into more about proving math equations then actually learning them. If you go to class and take notes, you can easily get a high B or A. But Debra is super spunky and really really loves talking about math. So if you are weird ed out by eclectic teachers don't take her class.
Warne is an interesting professor. She definitely makes class entertaining, however a lot of times her grading style is very unclear. I was expecting an easy A in this class but now am struggling to maintain a B so if you're looking for an easy A you won't get it. Group projects turned out to be fun but avoid if you don't like that. Frequent exams
Math 103 is generally a class for people who don't excel in math, but it seems like she gears it toward math majors. Concepts are generally explained once and only the hardest topics that are barely gone over appear on the tests. Definitely wouldn't take Warne again.
Dr. Warne means well but is a very confusing lecturer. She goes off on tangents so it's hard to figure out what's important. The math isn't super hard. She's very specific on how she wants you to answer. She often won't answer questions in class so make sure to go to office hours. You will have to do 2 group presentations and a solo final project.
Debra, debra, debra lol. She's a great person, super nice and means well. However, she is all over the place sometimes and lectures are super long and boring and the grading is tough. It's a really weird class but it's not too hard. I would take her, she doesn't have a mean bone in her body and she definitely made us laugh.
Awful. The class was extremely unorganized and the content was just random things she picked out for us to learn. I honestly could have done a lot better, but the class was so frustrating because she just goes off on tangents about metaphors for math that she makes up. She means well, but that doesn't matter when it's a college level course.
Professor Warne is friendly and passionate about what she teaches, but her lectures are confusing to follow. She frequently gets off topic and doesn't clarify well. She expects you to solve problems the way she teaches you to. The textbook was inexpensive but was really only necessary for the final project.
Debra is spontaneous and exciteable. She loves her math, for sure. I enjoyed her lectures because she was enthusiastic and paused enough for there to be an option for the class to chime in what the answer should be. Math 103 is course based on concepts and as someone who doesn't like math, I enjoy her math.
She's very eccentric, but really nice and helpful if you ask for it or go to her office hours. The material isn't hard, in fact it starts out insultingly easy but by the end of the semester she picks up the pace A LOT and it gets confusing. If you put in decent effort though you should be able to get an A. Disclaimer--it's not REAL math.
Pretty good at explaining things but won't answer any questions that students ask in class. she rambles about useless stuff & then blames students asking questions on why we're behind on material. she also is a really strict grader about hw so make sure you right out every step or you'll probably fail every hw set. curves exams, overall not awful
Dr. Warne is the best calc teacher I've had! She's really enthusiastic about math which makes her lectures fun. If you actually do and understand the hw tests aren't too difficult. Very helpful in office hours as well
Deb is so funny and nice. Her class isn't easy though. She's a little frazzled at times and just kinda writes random things on the board. Overall she's a really good Calc teacher and I would def recommend her to anyone.
Deb is amazing--you can tell she lives and breathes for calculus and teaching. She is so enthusiastic and you can tell when she gets so excited about little things. Laugh at all her jokes and she'll like you. Her tests are hard but fair, she makes you work for your grade. I would take her again if I could!
Deb is so sweet. She's very eccentric and really loves her calc. She's a good teacher overall, however she's easily sidetracked. Has 4 tests and a final which are all very difficult but she usually curves each one. Counts homework as about 20% of the class. Definitely makes you work for a good grade but helps along the way. Would easily take again
Dr. Warne is a great professor, but her tests are really tough. The class average was in the 50s for all 4 exams. Thankfully, she does apply a curve. She is a very kind person and is very energetic when giving her lectures. You need to do the ungraded textbook homework if you want to pass the tests.
I LOVE Dr. Warne! She turns an extremely daunting class like lin algebra & diff eq and makes it seem possible! I went to her office hours a lot and really devoted a lot of time to it. You get out what you put in! If she's an option, take her! As a senior, I've taken tons of professors and she's definitely one of the best at JMU!
I LOVE Dr. Warne--her tests are a little tricky, but curves them so the average is a little more realistic. Super open to questions and makes you excited to go to lecture. I cannot say enough good things about her
Attendance isn't mandatory, but GO! You must do the homework if you want to do well on tests and quizzes (they're your whole grade) and tests are HARD, but she gave us free points on all of them and gives TONS of partial credit. She is SUCH a nice lady and always available and happy to help. It's not a bad class, but you will have to work for it.
helpful
Professor Warne is a nice, but wacky lady who teaches in a strange way. Be prepared to always be a little bit confused and teach yourself the majority of material. ALL of her assignments (tests, quizzes, homework) are online which is sometimes nice, but confusing at times. The homework is helpful but takes alottttttt of time to complete. HARD tests
Dr. Warne is crazy about math, literally. She gets very excited in class about what she's teaching. Quizzes are open note, exams are hard. Sometimes hard to learn in class but is VERY helpful in office hours and is willing to help you. I've never been good at math but I did well in her class. Lots of homework, gave opportunity to drop lowest quiz
I took calc in high school and this class goes over similar materials. However, the professor does about one problem per lecture and the hw and practice problems do not match the quizzes and tests. unless you are a math genius and know every calc concept like the back of your hand pick someone else. people in the class regretted taking it with her.
Attendance not mandatory, but in math if you want to pass you must go! Mrs. Warne was really nice & helpful towards me & anyone else who asked for help. She's fair with her grading. Online homework & you have unlimited attempts so you can get a 100%. 5 quizzes (curves and can replace lowest), 2 tests, and a final. Tests aren't hard if you study lol
The main positive is that she cares about her students & will curve almost every quiz/test in order to accommodate. But, although I attended every class, I always walked out feeling like I didn't learn much at all, so expect to take lots of time teaching yourself. It's very difficult to follow her lectures & to be successful on assessments overall
would not recommend her class!! took calc in high school so I thought this would be easy, but I walked out knowing less about calc than when I started. she makes no sense during her lectures, and focuses on one problem for the entire class period. quizzes & tests are harder than hw and she never provides clear answers to questions students ask.
DO NOT take this professor if you can . she is crazy and writes every single thought on the board and it is a waste of time . she does one problem per class and it is mostly useless . homework is easy but, i spent most my time in the math center learning how to do it . be prepared to teach yourself.
This woman was all over the place during her lectures. She told my class that we were worthless and that we failed our pre calc teachers in highschool. Online quizzes and online tests IN CLASS. No partial credit on any of the tests. She is not understanding if you miss class. Avoid this woman.
Dr. Warne is so passionate about teaching math, it sometimes comes off as a little over the top but it makes class interesting. Every quiz is open note and there are only two tests plus the final. She has always curved the quizzes and test especially when she felt like she gave us too many questions. She even gives extra credit. Fantastic Teacher
This Professor was my favorite math teacher I have ever had. Admittedly a little bit on the quirky side, however, she is extraordinarily passionate about Calculus (as is her husband who subbed for us once). She might have screamed at me in class once or twice due to dumb questions, but damn if it didn't keep me engaged in her class. 100% take again
Professor Warne is a very good professor. While the class may be difficult at times she makes it easier to understand and will take the time to make sure you understand the concepts. That being said if you skip class you will fall behind and get lost within the topics. Roughly 2-3 homework assignments a week.
Debra Warne is a good choice if you have taken AP Calc in high school, but I do not recommend her if you have never taken calculus before. She can be all over the place at times and, for our class, was rushing at the end of the semester to get everything taught.
While Calc 1 is a very difficult class at some points, Dr. Warne is by far the best math teacher I have ever had in my academic career. She will take the time to prove why anything and everything works the way it does and it really gives you a good base to solve problems. She also curves tests which comes in handy a lot. Be prepared to study though
Dr. Warne is a really nice woman. She loves math and gets really excited about it. Her husband also teaches math at JMU and is equally in love with the subject. However, she lectures the entire class for the most part, and writes so much on the board (which was all in chalk in the room we were in). Hard tests, you'll have to study. Online homework.
She's a quirky woman who obviously cares about math A LOT. Very hard class with four quizzes, two midterms, and 1-2 online hw assignments a week. Midterms are stupidly hard, but there's a massive curve.
Had Warne for MATH336. Had difficulty in the class at the start and considered dropping the class. She reassured me that I was able to do well in the class and I did just that. The material was difficult and I am not a perfect student, but she will work with you if you work with her. She genuinely wants to see her students to succeed.
Biggest complaint was that she was a slow grader, and I never knew how I was doing in class. Homework was reasonable, and she was very accessible. Our final was a group project, which wasn't bad with the right group. She encourages participation, so answer when you know something or you might get called on when you don't. She's also a great person!
Over-enthusiastic/energetic. One of those math types that runs across the chalkboard while she talks. Sometimes went off on topics that we weren't going to cover. Had a zoom camera set up if you were absent but never used it or recorded lectures. Tried office hours 3 times and she spent 20 mins each time explaining why she wasn't going to help me.
Horrible. Dropped out. Got 10% on an exam. This class is so hard and she scribbles on the chalk board. Expects you to already know all the material. Basically learning from the textbook yet it doesn't make sense to what she talks about. She's lowkey sassy. Class average was so low. The homework is so dumb and doesn't help. Not worth the stress.
Dr. Warne us by far the best math prof at JMU. She is very caring. She is an easy grader. She literally bumps every quiz grade up. But as normal, her time needs to respected. I would definitely recommend you take math 235 with her. Wont regret it.
Professor Warne is excellent at teaching calculus and makes sure you have a good understanding of the material. This is supported from 1-2 short weekly homeworks online (from the textbook) that help you step by step to figure out the answers. Attendance is taken at will randomly in class, but if you're skipping don't expect to perform well on tests
Warne is a great math teacher and I learned a lot from her class. She is upbeat and seems passionate about the material, making it more interesting than typical math classes. It is fast paced, however, and many people in my class struggled with it.
Probably the best math teacher I have had. She really cares about math, her lectures are incredibly energetic and exciting. It's a very hard class but she does a great job curving quizzes so her students do well. I highly recommend you take her class.
homegirl is crazy...
Can be a little crazy sometimes, but it helps you stay engaged. Dr. Warne is very nice and approachable and wants her students to do well. Our class averages for quizzes have been in the sixties so far, but she often mentions that those who are in class regularly/come to her office hours will get boosts.
This one is difficult. I liked this class, the professor was nice, however she tends to go off on tangents. She explains things that do not necessarily need to be explained. However, she did answer questions, and was available for any other questions. You get multiple tries on the questions on the test, so they are not as hard as they could be.
Really good option. You definitely have to pay attention and take notes, and her lectures are super confusing sometimes. All around, she is very caring and tries to bring excitement into the subject, which she is very passionate about. For the tests, study homework assignments, they are literally the same questions. For quizzes, yeah good luck.
Homegirl is crazy, she means well, but she just runs around class scribbling on the board and yelling nonsense. Test average are always a failing grade and quizzes are terrible. Do not take and save yourself the stress.
Not sure how her rating is so high. She tends to get mad at students when they get questions wrong for no reason, which leads to people not answering her and making her more mad. She also goes on tangents on the board that are impossible to follow. Class is also very hard. Overall I have to think there are better options
Professor Warne is easily the most caring teacher here. While class was extremely difficult and the averages on all assignments were low, she would always make adjustments that have you an opportunity in the class. She is all over the place sometimes, but a caring, kindhearted Professor that wants what's best for you. Take if you had AP calc in HS.
As eccentric as she seemed at times, Dr. Warne was an extremely caring & helpful professor. She curves a LOT and gives unlimited attempts on homework. Every time I went to office hours, she explained the concepts to me and I always left understanding the material. She talks fast in lecture and the material is difficult, so go to class! She's great.
Professor Warne is an engaged and inspiring professor. She wants students to understand the content on a deeper, more meaningful level. Everyone who says her lectures make no sense or are all over the place simply do not have any vested interest in the material she has to teach. Stay engaged and go to class for an easy A.
Had her for calc 1, taught a bit different. 7 quizzes worth 70%, then a final at 17 or 20 depending on homework, 10 for attendance. Really rough semester since she hasn't taught it in 15+ years. Still a great teacher, just that me and my friends found it hard to be motivated at times. she's still a great option for calc1-3
Her lectures were always engaging and never boring so if you have a hard time focusing then sit in the front and she'll be really fun to watch. The material for this class is really hard so the tests are gonna be hard but she always curved for us. do the HW, do the book problems, and show up and pay attention to class and you'll be fine.
Debra Warne is the most passionate mathematician I have ever seen, bar none. You will see that the moment she starts running across the room while explaining 3-dimensional space. She grades fairly, is very interactive, and so long as you study quite a bit, she will make sure you do just fine.
Deb is an amazing professor, she makes a difficult class like this one make sense and feel tangible. There's lots of homework, but it is VERY helpful for the exams and you learn a lot from them. Amazing professor, you'd be very lucky to have her
Prof. Warne can be eccentric, but she genuinely cares. Stay engaged, use the textbook, and try unstuck AI - it helped my study prep a lot. Tough class, but she curves and is available.
My favorite math teacher so far. Class is relatively fast paced so it can be easy to fall behind if you skip several classes, but if you do the homework and practice problems you'll succeed. You can tell that she is passionate about the material and teaching. Don't be afraid to ask questions, as she loves to help and cares for students.
Very nice and approachable professor, but I felt she taught too fast and was a bit all over the place (although it could be the result of the amount of content in the course). There is a lot of homework, but I felt it was more difficult than exams. Exams are very long but not too difficult, you just have to answer questions fast.
Debra Warne is awesome. Very seldom do you see the kind of passion she demonstrates in every lecture. It's a difficult class; the tests are long and thus require a quick pace from start to finish. Plenty of homework, but it's all designed to prep you for the tests. Almost nothing feels like a waste of time, and she gets us through all the content.
