She was a very good teacher. Went over how to do the math very well and taught it so you would remember and understand it. I would take her again.

I have never understood the higher math concepts and waited until last to take my math classes. Deena was an absolute gem. She teaches the math in a way that is easy to understand and never makes you feel dumb for asking questions. I got 100% on my final and left the class better prepared to move onto the next level of Math. Highly recomended.

She is calm, patient and sincerely wants to help you learn. She provides you with written out practice tests for you so you can check to make sure you doing the methods correct. Awesome teacher!

VERY good teacher! Limited homework and most problems assigned are ones with answers in book. She does very thorough test reviews with hand-outs giving all answers and how problems worked out. Very highly recommend her!

Deena is a great teacher! I have started 0990 twice before her class and had to withdraw, because I was failing. I started her class and was able to pass with and A+. If you go to class, you'll pass. She does not grade homework, however if you turn all of it in on test days, she'll give you 3 extra points on the test. I wish she taught 1010

Fantastic math teacher. Her lectures are so clear. She posts lecture notes on Canvas so you can print them out, take them to class and spend less time writing and more time listening during lectures. Homework isn't mandatory but she gives three points towards your chapter tests for having completed it. Huge bonus! She really cares that you succeed

I took Mrs. Bain for math920 and 990. She was the best teacher ever. I learned so much from her and she made math enjoyable. If you had a question, she would help you and she was so kind. I would recommend her 110%. I wish she taught past developmental math. If you have a fear of math, she is the one to take to get a good foundation to move forward

I previously had an amazing 950 course with Leslie James, but 990 started off rough the first week of the semester. I then attended five other 990 instructors and was not impressed. I then found Mrs. Bain and she was just as amazing as Mr. James. Her online notes were great, I just printed them before class and was able to focus more on the lesson

Prof. Bain is an amazing teacher! She is so sweet, clear, and really wants you to succeed. I took this class as a refresher and I'm glad I took it from her. Tests aren't that tough, but do the homework, it helps. She keeps up on grades so you always know your score. She explains everything in detail. If you struggle in math, take it from her!

She is organized which is wonderful, she has her lecture notes available online. This makes paying attention to her teaching so much easier and also helps if you need a reminder when doing homework. She is kind and patient and it is obvious that she wants you to succeed. I always go away feeling confident in the concepts she is teaching.

I have dyscalculia, a learning disability in math. Deena explains math the way people like me need it to be explained. I don't know how she does it, but she is amazing and has given me the confidence I lacked for so long in the math department. She puts all of her lectures on canvas, but you need to go to class in order to grasp the formulas.

This teacher is very organized and effective at teaching math. Grading: Homework (10%), Quizzes (15%), Midterms (40%), comprehensive final exam (25%), (No extra credit). The homework and quizzes are online and are easy A's. Their main purpose is to prepare you for the tests which are in class and count for most of your grade. Good teacher!!!!!

Professor Bain is probably the best math professor on campus. Her lectures are clear and very thorough. She never gets distracted or off topic. She's always prepared. Her classroom management and time management are near perfect. If you show up for class, do the homework and ask you questions, you will get an A.

She is by far the best math teacher I have ever seen. I failed miserably at math in the past. She explains it in a way that make it so easy. Wish I could take her in all my required math classes. Definitely go out of your way to take her! I would base my school schedule around her.

I really enjoyed Deena's class. She gives great lectures and her exam reviews follow the exams almost exact. Her feedback is fast and very detailed. You can get an essay A in her class if you show up every day and study. She sets her class up for success.

Deena is a lovely teacher. My only regret is that I can't take her class for anything higher than MATH 980 because she is one of the most helpful, clear, well spoken math teachers I have ever had. SLCC is lucky to have her.

I stayed on top of the homework so it made this easy. Homework every day, but not due till we have a math test. She helps with reality checks, just print them out and she does them in class.

Amazing teacher. She cares about all students passing her class. But make sure to go to class, not because attendance is necessary, but because she explains things thoroughly and it's very helpful.

There would even be times where we would be ahead of schedule and she would rather than having formal class she would have those days be help days where she would help with anything we needed. I am so grateful I took Bain for math 980. Truly the best professor i've had at SLCC. She is so kind, caring, responsive, calm, understanding and clear with her discussions. All the things you want from a math teacher, you will not regret having her and I only wish that she taught higher levels of math. She has made math bearable and thats talent.

I really enjoyed having her as a professor. She is very understanding and flexible. Her class was set up in a way that was clear and easy to understand. She gave great lectures that didn't use to many confusing short cuts. I've always struggled with math but i was very successful in her class with her help. She's always willing to help you.

I've had a hard time with Math probably my whole life. But being a part of this class was amazing. I was able to understand the notes and even work ahead. If you had any questions she would be there to help. I can tell she loves her job.

Actually it was math 0980 but that wasnt an option. I took math after 6 years of not taking it and it was also online due to the pandemic. So we kind of had to be self reliant but when we were stuck or having troubles, Deena was always accessible and gave detailed explanations. She wanted to see you succeed. I would not recommend the online class if you aren't prepared to manage your time and put in the work to keep up with assignments, but Deena is extremely caring and makes sure you have the resources to manage the course. I have always struggled with math and with her class I have finally felt like I was able to keep up and understand the sections

I really enjoyed having Deena as my professor for Math 950. She gives amazing lectures and is really great at explaining math in a way thats easy to follow and understand. Participation was a tiny portion of the grade, but as long as you show up to class and do the homework youre going to pass and do just fine! I wish she taught higher than 980!!

Prof. Bain is an angel! Before you walk in, we are given Class Notes that she prepared to follow along with so when you're in class you can pay attention and take notes-not just one or the other. The online portion is also amazing with videos & homework that gives you 100 problems to practice on (a resource great for studying later!!) BestMathClass

Deena is fantastic- Math 920 may be a fairly easy course, but as someone who hasn't even approached math in years, I really appreciated her style. You can and will succeed in the class as long as you do the work. The lecture is very clear and comprehensive, and she allows ample lab time during class to help with any questions or make-up work.

She's not a very energetic lecturer, but don't let that fool you. She's an incredible professor. She's one of the best in this school's Math Department. If you need to take a math class and you see her name as an instructor, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR TAKE IT. She's helpful, accommodating, friendly, skilled, and professiona. I wish I could go on!

She is really good at explaining new challenging modules. You have a lot of opportunities to learn the content, but receive help from her during specific times outside of class. You should take her class!

Deena genuinely cares about her students. She would open up missed quizzes at the end of the semester. She lets you take exams if missed. Allows extra credit, but most importantly gives the best lectures. While she might not have energy, she will explain every concept thoroughly and give plenty of examples to practice with.

Honestly, this has been the best class this semester, Professor Bain is a very kind and inspirational professor, anyone would fall in love with the way she teaches math, she gives tons of extra credit opportunities and is kind with late work, she is not a tough grader and is very understanding. 100% highly recommend.

It's pretty quick to fall behind if you're not on top of the homework. It's easy to see her outside of class for more of a one on one helping session! :)
