DO NOT TAKE HER- shes very anal about everything she dropped one kid 2 letter grades because he acted prepared for class and wasn't, dropped someone else a letter grade because their cell went off, and makes you pay a dollars everytime you yawn-stay away!

this professor is horrible. she is obnoxious. only gets to talk about herself and has a million rules. she's just a pain. the articles that are to be read are super boring and you end up writing mini-papers on the readings.

The worst teacher I've ever had. Unclear and incredibly high expectations for a class that is seemingly simple. Attacks students for wrong answers or not understanding the readings. Also thinks quite highly of herself, her life experience, and books.

Insane all the way. Do not take her.

Do not attempt to communicate with Prof. Weinstein. She has a holier than thou attitude and believes the world revolves around her. Her arrogance is only surpassed by her lack of partiality in areas she claims to be an expert. She is completely biased. Her class materials are dated and irrelevant.

Whoever posted that good rating has to be Weinstein herself. It's not that the students are slackers, but she truly is a witch!! She is completly insane and treats her students like children. Has ridiculous rules. Weinstein's classes are not worth any of our tuition money.

I have never in my life met a meaner person. Everytime i left the class i wanted to cry and she enjoys having that power over people. If you arent a favorite dont expect respect or attention. Her final was impossible with imformation she left out when she told us how to study.

Misleading about what would appear on final. No book used, but assigns articles to read daily, some 50+ pages with outlines and notes required on readings. She is a very mean person and does not deserve to teach at DePaul. Do not expect respect or to learn anything of value from this professor.

Deena Weinstein's class is a total waste of time. She does not teach anything of value. If you want to learn how to degrade students and regurgitate unoriginal thought, then this is the class for you. She does not actually teach anything. Rather, she assigns a series of unrelated readings and expects you to take mountains of notes. You will be miserable. You will not benefit one bit from the experience in her class. THE GOOD RATINGS FOR HER, WERE POSTED BY DEENA WEINSTEIN HERSELF, NOT STUDENTS. Be warned.

I registered for this site just to warn people about her. She is horrible! Do not, I repeat, DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! She doesn't challenge you, she just likes to herself talk. It is a useless class, which doesn't even explain the topic it is supposed to be on. The only way to get her out is to just not take her classes. She needs to leave DePaul.

I have submitted this rating to warn all of you of this crazy professor! In all of my four years @ DePaul, I have never had a more ignorant instructor! She is ****, culturally insensitive and pretty much full of herself. She does play favortism and if she does not like you it will reflect in your final grade. Steer clear of her!

This women is the definition of evil and ignorance. She is really just an awful awful teacher and it is a shame that students have to deal people who have rules like no yawning in class. Stay away from this ****, you will regret it and find yourself cussing her if you don't.

I received a D in the class for some mysterious reason. I got A's on all of my assignments and had an A until the final. Not only does she look like a goat, but now she just made my chances of getting into a decent grad school minimal. She should be fired, not only cause she is an awful teacher, but she is a terrible person too.

The previous postings warn not to be absent or late.. But it's beyond that. She literally makes enemies with students and tries to humiliate people. She spent the first two weeks begging people to drop her class.I came,read,outlined,participated.It wasn?t enough.This class is based on HER opinions and terminology, not fact. 1 word of advice. this woman is horribly rude. she made me cry. i spent 6 hours on homework and i walk in 4 minutes late and she embarrasses me in front of everyone, doesnt take my homework and doesnt let me participate in class. the next time, i spent 12 hrs on hw and she wouldnt take it because it was 2 pages instead of 1. Claims to know a lot about rock music, but is mainly limited to 1980's mainstream metal "hair" bands--ex: Dokken, Dio, Whitesanke-- Has an undeserved sense of accomplishment, and successfully drains any enjoyment one ever got out of rock music. She's got the sense of humor of Gallagher, and the delivery of Sam Kinison. Watch out!

Horrifically unforgiving over the slightest issue with any student, and has said herself that giving her talks on rock and roll leave the taste of "ash in [her] mouth". Avoid her courses if you can help it.

She is such a bully. She will pick favorites and least favorites in the class, and no matter how well you do on tests or papers, she will grade you based on whether she likes you or not. Worst professor I have ever had, stay away from anything she teaches. I'm mad at myself I didn't drop the class when I realized how awful she was.

Its been nearly 8 years since I took this professor's class and I am still upset about it. She is rude, condescending, and unwilling to engage her students. She apears to have no investment in whether or not her student's grasp the material or succeed.

I just finished a third Master's degree. I took her class while working on my teaching certification. She was rude, had unreasonable demands, was demeaning to students and played favorites. Professor Weinstein's class stands out in my mind as the worst class that I have taken in my educational career. She showed zero respect for the students. Shame

The readings are interesting, but if you're someone who benefits from class discussion then this is not the class for you. She makes frequently reductive comments and does not facilitate a welcoming environment. She frequently informs students that they're "wrong" with no further explanation, and she deducts points for yawning.

Probably the worst teacher I have ever had at Depaul. She never clarifies anything and never answers your question clearly; and if you do have a question she mocks, insults, and questions your reading ability. She is way to focused on the structure of you completed assignment and seems like she can care less about the content. also very arrogant.

If you like being awash in a bizarre world of craziness and fury, take this class. It doesn't follow linear time or common sense. She often backtracks or goes on weird spiels and will not hesitate to immediately invalidate anything you say. One email is 10% of your grade. It's almost masochistically hilarious, so I would go for that.

Just avoid this class at all costs. I don't ever understand a word she's saying and she makes you feel bad if you don't agree with her. I don't know how people have even passed this class in the past... just wish I had known to avoid before signing up.

Most hostile class environment I've ever been in. The class was only an hour and a half but she was so mean to anyone who would answer questions that it would be dead silent for the whole period and it would feel like forever. I have read through many of these reviews and I can recognize her writing style in many of them. Don't believe the "good" reviews, she's a terrible person. She was okay the first few days of class, but that is when it gets... questionable. She claims that, "A wrong answer is better than a right answer," but then proceeds to belittle anyone who gives an incorrect answer. She will state a fact but it turns out it is a question; beware of that fact. She also had terrible time management in class.

Extremely condescending and will call you out before you even finish a sentence. Embarrasses students unnecessarily very often. Very strict grader and believes her answer is the only right answer. Took this class as a blow out and got a C when it was clearly an easy A class. Very rude person and overall worst professor I've had.

I didnt feel like closing my laptop when she insinuated she dislikes digital technology. This upset her and she then said I was not competent. I was, in fact, leaving my laptop open so I could drop the course the second the class period was over. Im amazed shes taught as long as she has when she was utterly masochistic to my fellow students.

Before class even started she yelled at me over a door stopper. I had hoped the reviews were just overly dramatic, but I was WRONG. She's not only the meanest person I've encountered in awhile, but is also the meanest Professor I've encountered, even when compared to tv show's professors. She will take points off for yawning and will humiliate you.

Ridiculous professor with unclear grading criteria. She berates students all quarter for using academic or technical definitions of words but then marks people off for using anything but the academic definition of technology on the final. She also berates people for wrong answers and then wonders why no one raises their hand by week 5. Avoid.

I do not have a problem with biases in a classroom normally as long as you do not degrade the students who you are not favoring. She actively degrades people who do not me her unrealistic expectations and while she never name drops you she does look at you even if it is inconvenient for her to turn around to looks at you while making her statement.

She's a "tough grader" because there's absolutely no basis to how she evaluates students and your ability to pass the class is going to be determined by her mood- which is usually bad. This is aside from being blatantly unprofessional, horrifyingly rude, and discouraging to young people. Everyone in my class felt the same way- please avoid.

I cant stress enough how much you shouldn't take this class. I know you're thinking "the reviews are bad, but sociology of rock sounds fun. How bad can it be?"
