Terible liberal teacher who didn't teach the subject. Said the day Princes Diana died would changethe world forever. That's a poli sci teached whith no touch on reality
I had her for the honors module, Cyborg Babies. The class was only a few weeks long but I learned more in there than any other class. Shes a lot of work, but extremely intelligent. If you do the work, you'll get a decent grade.
pretty good teacher. i like her passion in the subject she teaches
Took this class online.Found it interesting, but with lots of writing and thought provoking analysis. Recommend this teacher. She is good, if you care.
Had her for Cyborg Babies module. That five-week module was so much work. That stupid journal took so much time and was ridiculous to assign to such a short class. She is a cool person though and I learned a lot about reproductive technology and its issues in that module.
If you want to be manipulated into thinking the way she does, then take her, she cannot stand different views, and if u listen closely, some of her so called theories are very unsubstantiated, leave ure agenda at home!! be objective for once
i thought her class was fascinating... take it over winter session, easy A if you involve yourself.

Nothing too bad. Yeah, she comes across as extremely liberal, but it's a class involving political discussion. And I'm a conservative going to college, so it's not like i don't hear it anywhere else. The class is pretty easy, take notes...that's about it.
Unless you're really into political science, this is not a very good class. I wasn't offended by her views, though many others would be. The main problem is that the lectures and discussions don't really go anywhere; you're expected to absorb almost all of it out of the readings, and it isn't easy stuff. Definitely avoid if you prefer structured, textbook-based lectures, as in math and science classes.
great professor who has really engaging lectures.

High pitched voice sounds like true liberal who feels strong about her lesbian/feminist roots. Nothing wrong with preaching to the choir, but when we're paying tuition for a class in poli sci its better to stick to the material. Be prepared to listen to a semester of complaining and whining about Ameriica and all it's short comings.
What is it with these Women Studies Profs that are so anti-male?
if i wanted to hear a femanist preacher, i would have taken a womens study course. very unclear with course content, couldnt follow a course schedual, changed the format of the class constantly throughout. very frustrating class for something that should be an easy A
Condit is very smart and helpful. She teaches objectively and is very good at deflecting ignorance from the more stubborn-minded students.
if you want to listen to a woman complain constantly about how America is horrible and about her own life then take the course - if not don't take b/c you don't learn anything only what frustrates you and who frustrates you - alot of "discussions" in class but only one sided, too much 'preaching' when we're suppouse to learn about poli 107 . . .
her political bias get in her way. If you currect or question her look out you will be attacked.
She's a feminist professor, so yeah she does say a lot about women, occasionally she'll rant about this issue or that. The class was too big to handle the discussions and they went off topic so we weren't able to cover everything. She doesn't hate men or America, if you're too stupid for anything that's not black and white, don't take the class.
I'm a Republican and a Christian and I know from day one she hated me. BUT, I love Mrs. Condit. She is an amazing teacher and she really inspired me not to just watch the news, but actually TALK about what's going on. There is a lot of reading in the class and we got way behind, but make some friends in the class and you'll have an AWESOME time.
Dr. Condit is an amazing person and a professor who is not afraid to be honest, too bad more aren't like her. She is my favorite professor that I have had, ever.
Very sweet, funny, engaging, and enlightened professor. Knack for cutting through all the BS in lecture and discussion. Tests not difficult. Strongly recommended.
Thought this was going to be an interesting class. Turns out Condit is very opinionated and likes to place that opinion on the entire class, aka bashing Bush. Just not what I had hoped.
A lot of reading, but if you do it then you're fine. You will get SO much out of this class. Dr. Condit is very wise and captivating.
My best description is sad, she needs a life. If you enjoy a daily barrage of her political/ liberal opinion than it is the class for you. If you would actually like to learn and gain a base for future classes do not waste you time.
She's an incredibly smart woman, she's also a wonderful teacher. If you don't agree with her opinions that is your decision however, I would say it's safe to argue you aren't paying attention and are a conservative ****.
Condit really knows her stuff and will sit down and have a cup of tea with you if you don't understand the material
Excellent teacher, really enjoyed the class. Smart woman, really knows her stuff. Exams are somewhat hard. Take good notes and read, its a must. Down to earth, says what she feels, thats what makes her great. Makes great points. Need more liberal thinkers like her. Encourages class discussions and for you to voice your opinions.
Very engaging and inspiring. I can see why she might annoy some more conservative-minded students (i.e, challenging the comfort zone of those who have very fixed ideas about American politics and "morals"), but I personally found her captivating.
Condit is the reason I'm minoring in wmns studies. Brilliant and inspiring, she is also very understanding if you simply talk to her.
exciting debates, she is very smart but relatable, tests are exactly what she says they will be, final is cumulative of the first 3 exams, test review sessions, encourages questions, homework is reading, straight lecture but not boring at all, very good teacher, i'm very glad I took this course, it was an eye-opener!
Really fun class, Dr. Condit is super smart. It is a left leaning perspective, which for me was fine, but...for others. The reading is good and there a spirited class discussions. This is a good class. I had her for Women in Politics.
Alright teacher. her lectures are good but she's not clear at all on the exam content and unfortunately there are only 3 exams and that's your grade.
Many say that she is hard. Here's the secret to getting an A. Come to class (every time), read the assigned work (more than once), study here and there (nothing crazy), complete one extra credit paper (even if your in good standing). The kids that struggle are the ones that don't live by the above. This class can be magic if you make it just that.
whether it's poli 107 or wmns 301, if you're looking for an organized class, you sure won't find it in dr. condit! that aside, class discussions are great and she honestly knows and loves teaching feminist theory. if you're comfortable with only 3 assignments making up your final grade, then by all means, don't miss out on any of her classes!
Absolutely loved her!! She has opinion on almost anything and she's super funny. Go to every lecture and study the text and do the extra credit. She is one of the best POLI teachers.
Discussions were NOT just spin or rants about current political issues, but instead deep, meaningful discussions about why things are the way they are, and how they should be (.."to be or not to be" kind of stuff). Knowing about Plato and stuff will make you feel smarter too! Dr. Condit really loves her students and while her strong opinions may offend some, there are a lot of "wow, does that really happen?.." moments in this class.
Great Class, Dr. Condit is very knowledgable and intelligent and her lectures show it. Class isn't that difficult but requires A LOT of reading. Don't plan to get an A if you don't do the reading. Tests aren't bad(multiple choice w/ a SHORT essay) but the questions aren't always worded clearly and she uses upper vocabulary, that few people know.
This woman is amazingly intelligent and insightful. Treats all students as professional peers and does not use her status (which is high in the world of academia) as a platform to preach. She is simply AMAZING.
I'm a republican and a STRONG supporter of President Bush, and I loved her and the class. She can easily offend and she does go on liberal rants, but overall she is fair and she really makes you think. Take this class even if it is not required... she's so intelligent and insightful. It is definately worth your time!!
Possibly the best course I've taken since I started college. Free thinkers need to take this class... I walk out with a huge goofy smile on my face at the end of almost every lecture. Haters are probably just lame people.
She is really awesome. She is hardcore liberal but not rude she states he bias upfront so even if you are conservative you can learn from her perspective
I didn't like the material in the class much, but i LOVED the class. She is WAY liberal so I didn't agree with much she said, but most of the time her class is a huge discussion of diff. ideas. Its great. I laughed a lot and its fairly easy. I hardly read and got a B. Take her, you wont regret it.
She ROCKS!! She is one of the best professors I have ever had! She certainly knows what she is talking about and she will make you think, whether you want to or not. Conversations are interesting and very open. She truly enjoys multiple perspectives!! If you have th opportunity, take any of her classes!
Dr. Condit will change your life. I took her for an honors class on reproductive technologies, and I've never been so fascinated and challenged before. She really makes you argue with yourself to figure out what you think. Extremely paper and reading-heavy class, with daily discussions. She expects top-quality work every time. I loved her class!
keeps class interesting. she makes you think. there's a lot of reading but if your a poli major its readings you'll enjoy. she's very helpful.
She is okay, her Marxist views push me away but she knows what she is talking about!
Advice...do EVERY single piece of extra credit you can cause thats the ONLY reason people pass this class and like her so much. She offers a ton of extra credit including lectures to attend, papers and even a paper to avoid the final (which is cummulative so write the paper). I'm female and shes too feminist for my taste. Very opinionated.
Be sure to do the extra credit...it really will save you. Study your hardest, but she will ask you questions that are really hard to answer in a multiple-choice format. Just go for the best option. She's good with curving, but her lack of clarity when it came to what specifically to study for tests was really reflected in the class average grades.
Dr. Condit's class was my favorite class this past semester. She's extremely charismatic and truly passionate about what she teaches. Her exams are easy...if you do the assigned readings! If you pay attention during lecture, there's really no excuse to get anything below a C. The reading will help you get the B/A. Do the extra credit!!
I had Condit for my senior seminar on feminism and motherhood a few years back. The course was mindblowing, one of the best I ever took, pretty much life-changing. She is inspiring and wise and honest and funny and everything a truly good professor should be.
Not a bad professor. She keeps the class interesting. She tends to get very liberal (quoted as saying she makes Obama and Clinton look like Repbulicans) but ok. People did walk out on her lectures. READ READ READ! Tons of extrea credit but tests are hard and based of reading and notes. Work hard and you're ok. Slack off and you're in trouble
Her class is a joke. It is really hard and the readings are impossible. Nothing is in real English and she is really rude to her students and doesn't let you speak your mind. Super feminist! Don't take!
Currently her first time teaching Hist of Political Thought 2, I thought 107 was bad with her, now to take a required course AGAIN with her sucks.. test are blue book and 200+ pages of reading per week! Ridiculous!
She'll get the best out of you as a student. She expand your mind and help you exceed in the next level.
I loved having Condit for poli 107, she is a GREAT professor! I highly recommend taking this class with her -- it is reading intensive, but she is really good about telling you what material to focus on for the test so it's not so overwhelming. If you do all the readings & come to class, this class should be an easy A or B!
Condit really made the class. She was able to bring about discussion, which is critical when taking her tests. You must go to class.. I don't see why you wouldn't want to in the first place. She makes it quite interesting. Reading is, however, essential. As long as you get through that, it's light-weight. Resources online are useful. Overall A+ :)
Five 15-page papers! This lady is crazy! She is hard, and has no open mind to anything that isn't feminist. Avoid. Too bad it is required for Political Science!
Dr.C is a great teacher. Very inspiring and evokes questions that leave you contemplating for the rest of the day. This class required intensive reading and writing (it is a writing intensive course, DUH vvv)She's understanding, she's opened to your interpretations, she's clear with her assignments. Very friendly. :]
Very good teacher who is an amazing speaker and will keep you interested. Do not fall behind in any of the reading or writing. It is intense.
Take one of her honor modules. Very interesting lady. Presents the most interesting lectures and novel information. Her assignments make you think, and she makes you question why you believe what you believe. You will definitely learn something from her. The assigned readings will only help you with the papers you will write.
I had Dr. Deirdre Condit for an intersession class and she was horrific. The class was completely disorganized, not to mention, she doesn't answer questions asked. In addition, she does not grade our essays in a timely fashion making it difficult to improve the next essays. I would NEVER take this professor again.
Professor Condit is highly unorganized and gives teaching a bad name.
Shes disorganized but her teaching is above average, she really likes teaching young polisci kids and making you question why you believe what you believe
While she doesn't strictly follow her syllabus - she is always opened to be lobbied. Meaning if the class doesn't feel it is prepared for an exam, she'll work with you and possibly change it to a later date. If you want to actually learn something, I highly recommend taking a course from Dr. C. She is the best Poli Sci professor VCU has to offer!
When the semester started, I was really put off by Dr. Condit, but my opinion changed. Yes, she's very liberal and yes she can be too vocal about that. However, she has excellent insight into general concepts of politics, and the discussions are valuable. She's also probably the only professor I've had at VCU who really CARES about her students.
she never responds to emails. its incredibly annoying and frustrating especially when she is grading your papers and is taking her merry time doing it.
Well, she's and interesting woman for sure! I took this class at the pinnacle of my first relationship. I came to love women and myself as a woman. I know I became more powerful inside myself, and I learned to love others more fully. My one qualm, the class is a little doomsday/end-of-the-world-ish. I say take it, but keep in mind, humanity is okay
Very fun class. Probably because it was a 100 level though. Great discussions on the material and she did answer most questions students had. Tests weren't hard either. Again being 100 level class likely played a huge part in this as well.
she's a really good teacher but her class can be boring sometimes. i went like 4 times in the whole semester and still got an A because i studied for her tests. MUST DO THE READINGS: very important.
I thought to myself upon entering her class.....wow, she is a die-hard liberal, and I am NOT going to be happy. However, I would recommend her to everyone considering Poli Sci. She will open your mind to things you previously have never thought of. I can truly say she is brilliant; a little scattered, which hurt the class....but brilliant.
The initial meeting of her was deceitful. She's very liberal and vocal about it (in which I'm opposite). I thought I would hate the class but loved it. She's very passionate about what she does and it shows. She will open your mind for sure. It's a great class to take because she truly is brilliant on this topic.
She is one of the greatest professors i've had so far. She has a way of connecting real life with the things we have to learn in class to make everything interesting. You HAVE to do the reading, otherwise you'll fail the tests. Read and come to class and you'll do fine.
Very nice lady. Tends to not describe all topics very clearly and tends to go off on tangents about feminism. She is very opinionated and she wants it known. Chances are you will probably disagree with her at some point, but she does make you learn. She is also kind of flexible on grading, I certainly did better than I thought I would.
If you have not taken a Condit class you are crazy! She is an amazing person. Helpful and understanding. However, her class is not structed by any means. Very inconsistent with due dates and assignments. Class discussions are great and will always keep you interested, she really makes you think! Oh, be prepared for a group project...
Ridiculously rambling lectures. Made it halfway through the syllabus by the end of the semester and instead talked about her passions of feminism and hating children. Tests are all multiple choice and draw from the lectures. The class is easy and she curves everything. Just know that every lecture you go to is going to feel like five hours.
I'm a conservative grassroots activist and I expected the worst walking into a Condit class. (There are rumors.) Her class challenged me intellectually more than any other class I've had at VCU. Were this a sword battle, I would bow and compliment her on a well-fought engagement. Take Condit, especially if you're conservative.
She was the bee's knees
Dr. Condit is the worst online professor I've ever had at VCU. She took on a new chair role in the poli sci department, and very obviously can't handle that and teaching. We'll go 2+ weeks without hearing from her, and NEVER has anything up on time. Ne I understand she's busy, but being MIA from her students is completely unacceptable
She is a fantastic prof. The individual who questioned her commitment to her online course has obviously never gone in during her office hours. So helpful and caring. If you are going to rate a college prof. you should probably spell check your submission so that it seems as if you actually have the intellect required to pass a college course!
Anyone seriously interested in political theory should take Dr. Condit. Her class intellectually challenged me more than any other. I do wish however, that she had been more clear about which readings we would be tested on. Both the reading scheduled AND study guides she posted would have assigned readings that just wouldn't show up on the tests.
Great teacher, great lecturer. You can tell she lives and breathes the material, which is pretty inspiring. Loved her class. Too bad she doesn't teach Political Theory on the regular.
Probably one of the best educational experiences I've ever had. I wanted to applaud after every lecture. Great teacher if you actually give a crap about trying to learn the material.
The prof was missing in action. The entire semester she seldom interacted with students. Maybe teaching is a low priority
Love this professor! She's a little disorganized, but it's not too bad because she's super lenient on assignments and always very helpful. She's so passionate about the material, which really engages you. She is the type of professor you will remember years down the road when you look back at your education. Take this professor! You'll learn a lot.
There is still only one grade entered on BB & she hasn't graded our assignments from September. I have no idea where I stand & the final is next week. None of the material reviewed in class was relevant to our assignments. She once went FOUR weeks without talking to anyone in the class. I purchased a textbook we never spoke about in class once.
This professor is extremely disorganized. She rarely communicates with us, the textbook and assigned materials do not relate to the assignments. I haven't received graded assignments from Sep, so I'm not sure where I stand. The course material is questionable and problematic. Please avoid at all costs! and get a course that actually makes sense.
Annoying professor. Only graded assignments after the semester ended, so you don't get the chance to improve or change. Communication with students is terrible, didn't really feel like she was present. Paid so much money for a class that was not helpful or enjoyable.
Dr. Condit is the most empathetic and passionate professor I've ever had. She aims to "give you a Harvard education on a VCU budget" and if you're willing to commit to the work she'll support you the whole way. i had her for a "j term" class which takes place during winter break.
I took WMNS 316 with Dr. C during the J-term session and LOVED taking her class! She is so passionate and knowledgable on Women's Studies and it shows within her lectures. Dr. C is also very sympathetic, understanding, and wants the best for her students. I highly recommend taking a class with Dr. C, but only if you are willing to put in the work!
Dr. Condit is the sweetest professor and really goes above and beyond for students. Coursework was somewhat heavy, but every assignment was valuable and interesting. Class was always a safe space, Dr. Condit was so understanding towards students, and it felt like an actual class. Oh, and the course material was INCREDIBLE!! Take this class!
One of my favorite professors at VCU. She really cares about her students and really gets us to think. Theres a lot of papers, but she is lenient with late work. Every lecture is an absolute gem, I wish she taught more Political Science courses. I would take every single one!
Professor Condit was very understanding and accommodating, she is very passionate about the topic of women and law and is very well versed in both. Her class has taught me more than I would've though and is good prep for law school. The class requires a lot of reading so do not take unless you are ready to read almost 70pgs per day (in the summer)
Best professor I have had at VCU. Took senior seminar over the summer term. Dr. Condit was always there to help and engage with her students. No other teacher in my mind would be better to take your final seminar with.
She is an OK professor her ideology is diffidently pushed onto students, and while annoying I can manage it. Doesn't stick to PowerPoints, note taking can be challenging with her, and she is exceptionally passionate about what she teaches. Would not take her again, not because she is a bad prof but because there are better profs out there.
Reading the textbook and attending lectures is a must for getting a good grade, but just passively paying attention will get you far. Dr. Condit is a great lecturer, but the syllabus schedule will likely be abandoned about halfway through, so don't fumble the first exams. I would take another class with her and would recommend taking her course.
While the course material is hard to digest, Dr Condit is incredibly kind and very easy to reach. While she does have a pretty strict ideology, she never seemed to belittle a student for thinking otherwise. She is a brilliant lecturer and clearly knows what she is talking about, and I personally learned so much from her. Take a class from her!!!
Dr. Condit is a caring professor and very passionate about the subject. Her lectures are great but sometimes hard to follow and take notes for. The class was 88% exam-based and 12% weekly thought responses (one paragraph). There were a lot of readings but I was able to do fine with just the power points, notes, and spark notes/summaries.
It's incredibly unlikely you'll get through the full syllabus to Marx/Engles. Her political views are pretty polarizing no matter your beliefs, her tangents can make it hard to learn. She's an easy grader for writing but the multiple choice sections often focus on details from the texts. Otherwise, there's a five minute weekly response question.
She's nice but rambles a lot so it makes it difficult to know what to take notes of. Sometimes readings would be 100+ pgs . Assigned groupwork through the semester. 2 presentations. Weekly case briefs w/group or alone. 2 exams + final is comprehensive. Overall class is easy but hard to pay attention to bc of her rants. Would recommend.
DO NOT take a class with this professor. I was forced into it because another professor last minute changed with her, and I have hated every minute of this semester. The tests are impossible, pulled from everything but the information on canvas. Her lectures are 2 hours of her own beliefs. And half of your grade is based on group work, if not more.
Oh brother. Condit will literally rant for 2 out of the 3 hours of the class AND THEN TEST YOU ON WHAT SHE RANTED ABOUT. Attendance isn't technically mandatory, but things she mentioned in class will be on the exam so if you weren't there you won't have any idea. 90% is group briefs. Heavy work load and tough grader. Insane trauma dumper as well.
Condit's class can be intense, with lectures covering a lot. But engaging with the materials and using study aids like Unstuck AI really helped. The workload is heavy, but the course content is engaging. Give it your best effort.
Took her honors Techno-Politics class. Very knowledgeable and actively guides debate within the class. Rest assured, as long as you are active in class and write good papers, you cannot get less than a B.
