VERY long lectures. She starts the class with 30 minutes of review of the last class. Then 2 hours of talking about paintings and time periods (interesting at times, but can be INCREDIBLY boring also). She gives you a 20 minute break in between also. Ends class with a prompt at the end of every single class. No final though. Optional extra credit.

Took Professor Wills' six week summer class, and enjoyed it very much. Very understanding and helpful. Grades were based on the prompt she gave at the end of class which were based on the lectures and readings. Lectures are very important, while the textbook can serve as extra help on the side

She is a TOUGH grader. No midterm or homework, just readings and a prompt every 2 weeks. Extra credit opportunity. I could listen to her for hours, which was my downfall. I got so wrapped up into listening to her lecture that I didn't take as many notes as I should've. Attend all classes and take good notes, and you should be fine. I recommend her!

Loved all her lectures, just make sure to take really good notes! She also plays documentaries which if you pay attention are pretty helpful especially for prompts. Try not to skip out in class or you won't be able to do prompts properly without notes. She covers a lot of material in semester but she organizes it great.

Her class was one of my best class that I have taken in PCC. I was worried about taking class like Art History, but I really enjoyed it and It changed my way to look art. Prompt almost every week, lowest prompt will be drop. extra credit is also good way to solidify your A if you write down all the stuff that she talks about, you will get it

I'm taking her for winter session which is really great. She really has a passion for this and breaks this down as easily as it can be. She drops your lowest prompt grade and let's you use your notes for the prompts, take good notes! she also give really good feedback so it's easy to improve on

Deirdre is amazing. All of the students complaining below don't understand that she is here to PREPARE us for transition to 4-year university. She respects us enough to treat us like university students. Everything is OPEN NOTE! She even meets with you out of class to help you with assignments. The students who failed didn't try. Simple as that.

I enjoyed having class with Wills. My winter session unfortunately lost Brown as the prof but Wills saved the class. She was very open to questions and respected opinions. I was able to get a 20/20 on one of my prompts! Open notes for all prompts so write a lot. Just write your prompts in almost a narrative form. BONUS: NO MIDTERM OR FINAL!

Doesn't get enough credit for the things she had to do to keep ART1B going. People are just complaining because they had it easy with Brown, but honestly Wills was amazing. Open note, no midterm or final, just prompts that she WARNS YOU ABOUT BEFORE HAND SO YOU CAN STUDY, 10 min breaks, and extra credit! I learned a lot about art.

How are ANY of you complaining? If you put in the time, effort, and talk to her about your grades you will pass with an A. You're taking a college course which means it's going to be COLLEGE LEVEL. C'mon.

She goes over the exact paintings you will have to write about in the prompts. Write down every single thing she says about those paintings/the artist/time period. Whatever artwork you have to write about in the prompts, make sure write down EVERYTHING thats in your notes about the work/ the artist. if you do exactly this its an easy A.

Professor Wills is fair, knowledgeable and is funny. She is passionate about the subject she teaches and wants the students to come to appreciate art the way she does. If you attend all the lectures and take good notes, you should be able to receive a good grade. She also offers extra credit as an option at the end of the semester.

I really liked this class. It consists of heavy lectures, but she adds humor to it, keeping you alert. Her lectures are not boring. She always reviews the lectures from the week before, which is a good advantage if you missed last week's class. If you don't take notes, you will not get a good grade. Open note tests. Profess Wills is very organized and taking notes from her lectures is easy. She reviews the following week so if you have to miss class her reviews are very thorough. She gives you writing prompts that are open notes. The better your notes the better your writing prompt. she also gives you feedback on how to improve your writing.

Wills was an amazing art history professor! She was kind, interesting, passionate, & comical! We had 7 in class open note essays and they were straight forward. As long as you have detailed notes you'll do great. I went to class everyday so I didn't buy the textbook, and she does review in the beginning of class which was helpful! Really fun class!

She let's you use them on your timed writing assignments which are your bread & butter; your whole grade depends on these. Just pay attention & write down specific terminology. One of the best Art History Profs here! Her class is simple and easy, mostly prompts every other week but they are open note so make sure to take thorough notes during lecture and do everything she requires you to do on it! Professor Wills was an amazing teacher to have. My class with her was a survey art history -- we covered all of the canonical masterpieces, and her lectures on each piece of art was relatable and fascinating. She expressed the material in an approachable and diligent manner. Grading was spread out in 8 writing prompts rather than 1 big final.

She's bit boring at times but still a good teacher. She doesn't post any of her materials online, so attending class is very important. The only assignments she gives are her in-class writing analysis essays that are open notes. The class is pretty easy if you listen to the lectures (don't really need the book) and take good notes.

I love taking Professor Wills, I took her in the Spring and am currently taking her Summer class. I did not feel burdened to attend class on Saturday mornings because I enjoyed it. She makes it interesting, if you miss a class and send her an email she will let you know what was covered. She also has great recaps at the beginning of the next class.

Professor Wills is so articulate and knows her stuff about art history. She mostly lectures in class so take good notes. There wasnt any homework in the summer art class. We did writing prompts which she graded quite difficulty but she does it to help improve her students writing. Try your best to give full details and facts , not opinions.

Took Wills for 1A and 1B(Spring/Summer@PCC). She's a charismatic Professor who really makes a history lecture fun/bearable. Throws in vid's to break up lecture during class, and allows an open note (no electronics) policy for her prompts, which is how you receive your grade. NO EXAMS, but I recommend you have basic college level writing.

No tests or quizzes nor textbook use, just 6 writing prompts based on class lecture which you can use your notes on. The prompts are relatively easy, and they're usually comparing and contrasting 2 artworks. Just show up to class and take good notes and you'll pass without a doubt. She also drops your lowest prompt score and gives extra credit.

One of the best professors I've ever had at PCC. Very inspiring! There is no tests or quizzes. Only 6 writing prompts that are open notes! At the end of the semester she also gives out extra credit! I would definitely recommend this class. It was very enjoyable class and she is super nice and is always willing to help all her students.

Best Teacher I had for both Art History 1 A and B. Definitely recommend it. She gives a lot of details on the artworks. Obviously you need to study, but it's not that hard. There is a scan tron and an essay portion. As long as you study your notes and the book she recommended, you'll ace it in flying colors. The professor is really nice too though.

Her lectures are amazing, you will learn so much about art and the artist who's styles live on. The lectures have a lot of information that you will need on the test, be sure to take a lot of notes. Prof. Wills's class was pretty chill and non-stressful. Her online class was composed of 4 large modules that contained video lectures and well organized lecture note pages. The key to pass this class is to memorize artwork and do well on essays. There were many artworks that weren't on any tests or quizzes, but she still made lessons on them which I found it to pretty useless since we had to study at most 50 different artwork and their titles, dates, and themes. It was asynchronous so you'll have to allocate your time responsibly and be consistent, but this is completely manageable. I took Professor Wills during the online winter session and she's great! The class is asynchronous and as long as you keep up with the modules (which are reasonably short) you will be fine. For each unit there's a 25 question multiple choice test with 1 short answer portion and a separate 500 word essay, which are all pretty simple. Take her!

Prof Willis really knows art history and is very good at teaching it. The course covers a lot of material so it's really important to keep up, otherwise everything is a blur. Tests are fair with multiple choice and a short essay. Writing assignments and discussions help with the studying. She has well-organized lectures and helpful office hours.

Art History 1B taught by Professor Wills was by far my favorite class I have taken so far at Pasadena City College. I took her Art History 5 in Mt. Sac. It was super easy to understand even though it is my first time doing ppt lecture and exam. Everything on the test is coved in the lecture or what she mentioned in class. We don't have a final it is just a exam like 3 other exams we have. The museum paper is just compare and contrast two arts!

Took 2 classes with her and I wish I could take more. Not an easy class, but if you put a reasonable amount of effort into taking notes on all the mini video lectures and reading the materials you'll do good on the exams. Each exam has 25 multiple-choice questions and a small essay prompt at the end. She cares about making the class fun.

Lectures can be a bit long at times but overall I learned a lot from this class, I really like being able to recognize art pieces in the real world. Tests are not hard, flash cards for a few hours day the day before and you should be set. Lectures are not posted so skipping class would not at all be advised.

One of the most memorable professors I've had by far. Her lectures are very engaging and funny, and her comments make you take in the material efficiently. The exams are not difficult if you watch her lectures, do the readings, and take notes. She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the material and gives great feedback!

I took her for Summer. New module every week, an exam every 1-2 weeks, an essay or quiz on alternating weeks, and lengthy discussion assignments every week. She gives deadline grace periods for most assignments. You'll have to put in the work to get an A. Essay extra credit at the end. Essay grading criteria can be... weird (for exams especially).

just took her art history online class and it's been a very chill experience! gives ample time for assignments (sometimes there will be short extensions) and material is very easy to consume. i only got a C because i kept forgetting to do assignments. the grading criteria can be slightly unclear but overall her class was enjoyable!

I will just say this, if you are looking for a fun art history course, Dr. Wills is your ticket. I took her for 001A and I'm glad she also did 001B. It will be rough the first few weeks, but afterward, it is relatively easy and actually really fun. Just be sure you meet all the deadlines (essays, discussions, etc) and it shouldn't be too hard.

Wills is a fun professor honestly! There is a lot of work and studying you have to do. I took her for 6-weeks and it was so much content and info to learn. Regardless, it's pretty easy since it's open note for the quiz and exams. Make sure to be active in her discussions, watch lecture videos, and is super approachable for you to ask questions.

Easy to get an A in so long as you turn in assignments. Downside is that she has a lot of papers. Course material was very fun to me, but your mileage may vary. Her asynchronous classes are like others: you don't really interact with her at all. Luckily she formats the class in a very clear way. You can't work ahead of her schedule.

Took Art005: ArtFundamentals, fairly easy class. Weekly discussion post or assignment and an occasional quiz. 4 exams in total with an essay at the end. Make sure to take notes on every art piece she puts in her lectures/modules. Extra credit doesn't help so just focus on the main assignments and exams.

Took her online course, Canvas was very nicely structured and organized. It is quite lecture heavy but that's to be expected out of a history class, as long as you put in the effort and take good notes you'll do well. She provides feedback on every assignment and even gives a grace period. Quick grader too!
