Enjoyable class, Dr. Gilcrease has lots of energy and enjoys teaching. Her tests are straight forward and she gives you all you need to do well in her class.
Good lecture notes, but very hard to follow her lecture. She jumps around a lot while teaching.
Study the notes, read the chapter, ask Dr Gilcrease for claification and it might help if you can sort thru the childhood stories she tells. Overall... good class, certainly manageable, straight forward quizes and exams.
AMAZING Teacher. Very energetic and makes the class time that can DRAG in lab, go by super fast.
easy class, she gives you copies of all the notes she's gonna go over in lecture and takes her quizzes right off of them. jumps around a bit though, and is almost always 10 minutes late to lecture and lab.
ALWAYS LATE, then flys through material. Note handouts and lecture very high level. Quizes & Exams fairly detailed. For lab, she prefers using projector. Very limited scope time prior to exam (makes it VERY difficult) I'm a straight A student hoping for a B because I don't know she is looking for.
easy class, tests come straight from the notes but she is always ten minutes late to class and at least fifteen to lecture which makes her really hard to follow in class as she speeds through the material too fast
Wonderful instructor for biology. The lecture notes are very helpful and explained very well. Highly recommand this instructor.
Great teacher, I highly recommend her. I took this in the summer (a 4 week class). Not easy, but you will do well if you study from her lecture notes! I would study for ~1-2 hour each night and ended up with a 98% in her class.
Gilcrease is a decent teacher if you have a light schedule. She rarely stays on task and tends to be disorganized, then speeds through things to get caught up. If you study the lecture notes (which are many)very carefully, you will survive.Tests can be a bit harsh.
love her class..it was tough but not hard to do good in it.. just read her notes and go to class..and everything will go well..strongly recommend her
Gilcrease is a great lab teacher, but her lectures are pretty boring and it gets frustrating how unorganized she is. The is also a quiz in lecture and lab nearly ever day. However, it's nice to get a notes handout in class so that you don't have to take them. It wasn't my favorite class, but it really wasn't that bad. I would recommend Gilcrease
she was a good teacher overall. Lab is tough but you need to study everything! she goes over with you in class. study a lot! lecture was tough especial because of her disorganization but if you devote yourself the entire semester to biology you will do good.
Her teaching style is excellent, very straight forward with her test; however, her tests are very lengthy, alot of questions. Her lab is very exciting and fun, unusual for an anatomy class. There are alot of quizes, which really help my grade because they are straight from her notes. I highly recommend her to anyone.
Horrible Horrible Horrible! Completely disorganized and random. Have quizzes and tests all the time otherwise completely pointless to attend class. Hope you like to read bc its the only way you'll pass. Might as well have taken this as an internet class. Not kidding.
Took this class during summer. She is very helpful. Even came in on weekends to give class extra study time when needed. Liked the fact that she gave out notes so you know the key points to study. Didn't really use my txt book much, which is a good thing and still got a B in the class. Only thing is lecture was boring, it was hard to stay awake.
Great teacher. Loves to teach and you can tell. Subject is very tough and so are her tests but she has many opportunities for extra credit points to help. Always willing to help when you need it.
Great teacher
awesome teacher....material is organized into handouts, all test/quiz material comes straight from these. study those, and you'll pass.gives plenty of quiz's which boost your grade if your prepared to look over your notes before class.lab is difficult, but she's straightforward as to what you will be tested on.GREAT TEACHER
She's an excellent teacher who makes the material incredibly clear.
Best teacher I've had at MCC. Had her for 201 first and really liked her class so I took her 182 as well! Easy class!
GREAT TEACHER. but you need to read the book b/c sometimes you dont understand what she is talking about b/c she skips around when talking
She's super nice and really helpful...gives a lot of extra credit and even came in on Fathers Day to help us review for a practical. At times she can be all over the place in lecture, but reading the book helps.
She's a Human!!!(unlike like some biology professors) She makes weird jokes and understands you, even though she can be strict on timelines. I think she is a incredible professor and would recommend her to my best friend.
She is a great teacher. I loved her labs. Just make sure you study and don't fall behind and you will do fine. She wants her students to do well and is very helpful.
It's not simple material, you will need to study no matter who your professor is. What other people say is true, she does go on tangents a LOT. However, she gives handouts that all her tests and quizes are based on. *Don't buy the book*. She gives extra credit on all exams/quizes. Out of the choices for BIO201 at MCC, she is the best option.
Gilcrease rules. Highly recommended. Awesome lady, awesome teacher.
really nice person but sometimes doesnt explains the material clearly.always telling stories about her childhood in south texas, sometimes it gets really weird...gives a lot of material to learn espacally for lab practicals.be prepared to go to the zoo if you want extra credit.by the way she always late)))
Loved the teacher. She is super nice and is really helpful! I've taken alot of BIO classes and she is by far the best. BIO isn't easy so you'll have to study but just go to class and know the hand outs and you should do fine on the tests.
5 week summer class. Intense Gilcrease does very well with time frame given. She is a bit scattered with visuals. Handouts crucial. Textbook optional. Fun stories that kinda relate. Definitly take the class. All in all excellent teacher.
She's an amazing teacher, to the point with giving you handouts that will make your tests a success. She has some funny stories which kept me awake with all the material. Without a doubt I am going to take her for Bio 182 in the fall, best MCC instructor I have had to date.
YIKES! She is soooo scattered it makes it hard to pay attention in class. She is everywhere. VERY hard class. MUST attend class and study a lot for the exams. I DO NOT recommend taking this class in summer sessions. It is just too much to cover and she rushes thru it. I don't even feel prepared for bio 202. Book is not necessary but helpful
This professor is so awesome! She is so funny and definitly far from boring! I would definitly recommend her for A&P 201!
Her labs are really fun and shes so informative. Her lectures, however, are really boring. She gives you a handout of all the notes which is nice but then she goes on to read the handout word for word during lectures. Good teacher and be prepared to study for tests.
I would definitely recommend her! She's not boring and her class is easy! she gives a handout for each chapter and everything you need to know for the test is on those handouts! i've only opened up my textbook once or twice...and that wasn't even to read up on anything. it was to look at some pictures, but she gives handouts on those too.
She has a very scattered teaching style. Uses elements from a thousand different textbooks she?s worked with and the examples get hard to follow at times. Her handouts are helpful but she skips around a lot. Be prepared to study even if you haven?t in past classes! Don?t fall behind! If you have a tendency take a day off Gilcrease is not for you!
Good teacher but gets very easily side tracked. Lots of years teaching, so losts of stories to tell. Tends to ramble a little. In lab, hard to get her attention for help or questions.
Great teacher! Makes handouts with all the necessary information you need for quizzes and tests. Breaks down complicated biological functions into easily understood ideas. Easy to get an A if you're willing to attend class and study. She totally prepares you for material she will test you on.
Gives handouts on material covered, information is scattered and so is her teaching. Definitely a need to study for class. Disappears during labs sometimes. Not my favorite class
Be ready to study! Shes a great person, but as far as the material being covered, very scattered and disorganized. Sidetracked easily. Quizs are fairly easy, theyre over handout notes she passes out in class. Tests are more over the concept shes teching rather than the the subject itself. DO NOT MISS HER LABS! If you study you should do ok.
Great teacher. Gives you everything you need to succeed. Handouts are excellent and coincide with the textbook. Attend class, listen to lecture, follow along with handout, open the textbook and have fun. I read the textbook after each lecture using her handouts as a guide. Excellent. She is very engaging and allows you to interact with her. Awesome
Verry difficult teacher!!!i do not recommend her at all, she is all over the place in lecture and you never what to study for, she gives no review before the test, do not take her!!
SHE IS SO SCATTER BRAINED! her quizzes are SO easy and directly from the notes that she TYPES OUT FOR YOU! didn't open my book once all semester & got over 100% on everything. as long as you have all the handouts, listen to what she says is important, and read over her notes before class its easy. but she is so unorganized.
She is so confusing and scatter brained. Her quizzes are easy but the lecture test are hard. She gets off topic alot. Be prepared to study!
Fun and goofy. She puts emphasis on concepts or certain things we need to study for tests. She has weekly quizzes in both lec & lab. There are never any review days, lab practicals are easy but make sure to study for lecture tests. You can study just from the printed notes she hands out but MAKE SURE to take notes from her lecture as well.
Wow. In 40yrs of teaching you'd think she'd be more organised. We were so far behind in lectures and that put alot of pressure on students. I luv Biology, but hated going to her class. Quizes were easy exams were hard. Even trialing a new exam on us which I thought was unfair. I never been so confused in my life in Biology. All A's except her class.
I like her as a person, very nice and goofy, but her teaching style doesn't suit me. Notes are confusing, lectures are confusing and tests are very hard. She didn't plan the course well and ended up rushing through the reproduction and endocrine (which are difficult subjects). Frustrating class and I'm glad its over.
I absolutely love biology and the sciences, but this teacher honestly made me DREAD going to class. She is honestly a super nice lady, but her lectures are so scattered and disorganized. Did not feel like I got a whole lot out of the class even if I did get an A in the class. Do your research and try to get another professor
Avoid this teacher, bottom line. All these ratings about her being scatterbrained, unorganized, and difficult are completely true. Class is not worth attending as you learn almost nothing from her lecture, however if you miss you will be dropped. Tests are extremely difficult, asking questions on the smallest of details, and everything is rushed.
Teacher is very disorganized consistently 5-10 minutes late to class and falls behind her own schedule. She does not follow the book so reading it is useless and her notes are disorganized. She is accomodating however and extremely knowledgable but is easily side tracked because of this. Good luck!
I took her over summer school. It was intense. But I studied hard and achieving an A was easy. She gives you everything you need to succeed, and she is very nice!!! She does get distracted but her tangents are comical and worth listening to. I enjoyed this class!
Awesome teacher! Very mothering sense, gives you meanings and stories to help you remember information. This is a tough course, she makes it fun and bearable. I suggest her to EVERYONE! :)
She is fantastic and always willing to help. Her quizzes and exams are usually over her handouts. She almost always have revies for her labs.
I loved her personality! She was fun to listen to during her lectures. I plan on taking her again for 202.
She is a nice person but a decent teacher at best. Her tests/quizzes are right off her handouts making them not too bad. She is all over the place in lecture and extrememly hard to follow. Lecture is not mandatory, just study her notes and you'll do fine. If you actually want to be "taught" something take someone else.
Mixed Feelings: She's very nice and knowledgeable, but her teaching style is very scattered and frustrates me so much. It's difficult to stay on track when she goes off on quacky stories and jumps through MANY slides and pages of disorganized notes. This subject is hard, and I'd prefer a more regimented professor. You must do well in 181 first!
She is a very nice lady but very scatter brained! This class is tough but she is the best of the worse to choose from for Anatomy at MCC. I loved her course but it was way too difficult to take going full time at school. So I recommend taking this class only during the semester and not going full time. It requires a lot of studying.
Loved this teacher! All material is given to you with handouts, I never used the book once. No reason not to get an A if you study. She can be a little random, but I loved her personality. Great teacher!
Sum I sem. Notes was given in the handouts. Extremely fast paced. 10 quizzes in lec, 10 quizzes in lab. 3 lec exams, 4 lab pracs. 1 semi-comp lec exam. EXTRA CRED on exams, pracs, and quizzes. Sometimes we had 3 quizzes a day. The final week we had an exam almost every day. Lec exams are STRAIGHT from handouts. A is possible. Drops a quiz grade.
Summer 2 session. Class is very fast paced, but as long as you attend class and study, you Ace the class. Studying is very crucial. We test everyday. Ms. Gilcrease is energetic and very helpful. She cares about your progress only if you put in the effort.
I had a good experience with her. She gave us her handout and you study all of them you will be good on all the quizzes and exams. I got an A on her classes. For the particle, she will do review and everything she might test, so if you study, A is not possible.
Very clear. Very prepare.
Best advice, read the handouts and know them! If you listen to her too much she will confuse you, but she is a wonderful lady to chat with outside of class.
Mrs. Gilcrease is a helpful teacher but she can be confusing. Just study her notes and study hard for the practical. Pretty easy overall and do the extra credit!
Not a science Major...just wanted to take class. It was tough but Mrs. Gilrease made it interesting and understandable. She is a great teacher and I would take her again! She is funny and makes class fun. Use her hand outs AS study guides and you will do great. She prepares you for her tests and practicals! Tough class but I got an A!
Not easy classes, but totally doable if you take the time to study the material
Summer II- Not an easy class very fast passed, but if you study the handouts she gives you, you will do great! No surprises on tests, she tells you exactly what she will be testing on. Good instructor; can get VERY distracted, but she eventually gets back on topic. Very nice and understanding. Overall- Good professor to have!
She started out semi good and seamed like she cared. but she is very unorganized and unclear. Also she doesn't really teach she just reads her notes and expects you to understand it had a lot of difficulty in her class would not recommend. also there are no homework assignment so if you do bad on tests your'e screwed.
She is a good teacher if you can pay attention in lecture. I had a hard time with her because she printed out the notes for us and then just read the paper to us during lecture. if you are an auditory learner then you will do great. ALSO studying is a necessity. Lab is awesome though. I would recommend her
Lecture was extremely boring. She just reads her print outs to you and has like 12 quizzes through the semester. And she definitely talks way too much about her personal life. You definitely need to study A LOT if you want to pass. Her lab is kind of fun though. She talks too much in there too but the actual lab stuff is super fun!
Professor Gilcrease is a really good professor. i took her for summer school and the class was hard but she explained things real clearly. She's super funny and is always willing to help. Quizzes and tests are straight from her notes. Show up in class and study all her notes and handouts and you'll do great
the class in general isn't that bad, it's her teaching methods that are awful. She has SO MANY PACKETS! She's contradicting & goes off on random tangents. She talks to class like we already know the material. You have to study a lot on your own & i found myself self teaching most of the time. I wouldn't recommend her.....
This honestly is the easiest A i have ever received in college so far. Literally, her tests are exactly what is on her handouts, thats it. ZERO surprises. Is she the best teacher? probably not. But if you memorize the packets then I have no doubt you will also receive an A. I received a 102 percent at the end of the semester.
I like her as a person, however the tests seem to not reflect what is on her packets. Not only that you get tested on a lot of material at once. When she teaches, I feel as if she is all over the place. There is no organization. Honestly I would not recommend taking her. Maybe I have had other professors previously who set the standards high.
She hands out packets that she teaches from word for word, which are confusing to begin with. If you're good at memorizing by recognition, you'll do well if you do nothing but study for this class. There's so many things on the tests that don't make sense and that she didn't go over. She's also spacey and goes off on random tangents in class.
A good woman ,but a less good teacher. The lectures are long and boring, handouts are vague and tests are very very difficult. you ll probably wont understand a bit in lab classes . She gives one extra credit though, but that is a field trip and you ll have to earn those points doing real struggle. And, write it down, she never replies to emails.
This class was extremely easy. She gives you packets that literally have every answer you will need for the tests. It requires a little bit of studying, but so easy to receive an A. You can pass this class without going, just get her packets and walk out.
She is experienced, but it helps very little when making you understand the materials. You'll have to memorize the sheets word for word to pass. The tests are tough (contains materials out of lecture) and grading policy is worst that ever (miss a few questions in exam, your dropped down from A to B ). But she gives extra credits and a nice woman.
Absolutely loved her! I took her 5 week AP 1 class and she was able to teach 16 weeks of info in 5 weeks and still make it an enjoyable class!
Taken two classes with her, BIO 182 and Summer session BIO 201. She gives packets that have most of the answers in them. If you don't understand a concept she will explain it to you simply and not make you feel stupid. She does get off topic but she has great ways of getting you to remember the information if you listen to her lectures. Awesome!
She was completely all over the place and unorganized, getting off topic easily and she gave out quizzes with one day warnings & NEVER followed the syllabus. She would barely go over the packet & make you read and do almost everything on your own. On quizzes she did try tell you what to study which is good & gave 1 or 2 EC questions on each quiz
Great class She uses handouts instead of powerpoint. If you study the packets/diagrams she gives you over and over and over then read the chapter from the book you will get an A, it's that simple. Lots of memorization and tons of info to cover but concepts not difficult. She gives extra credit. She can go off topic and repeat info. I got an A.
While the class and subject matter aren't that hard, Dr. Gilcrease makes it difficult to understand. She reads off of handouts and doesn't actually teach. She continuously disrupts the class. She doesn't follow the book, and she gives outdated inaccurate information, and lectures for 3 hours in lab. I definitely recommend any other teacher but her.
This class has been nothing but frustration. She uses packets, and then reads right off them, and barely expands on anything in them. Her quizzes and tests are formatted poorly imo, and she uses lab to lecture for an additional 3 hours. She has recommended reading in the syllabus, but it's practically worthless. Her tests are based on the packets.
This professor is all over the place. She easily gets off topic. Get ready to read the book, her lectures are unthorough and consist of her reading straight off the packets she hands out, in which she does not follow page order. She often while lecturing will throw in little tid bits of information she forgot, which is confusing. Easy A; lots of EC
She is aweful. She gives packets of her own notes that are hard to follow. Reads the packets word for word in class. Then has a quiz over each packet; quiz almost every single class. Jumps all over and you never know what page she is on. Incredibly confusing. I love Bio but not with her. Have only gotten A's ever, first C in my life.
Quizzes You practically have to memorize the packets she gives you word for word in order to get a good grade on them, since her lectures are so convoluted. We rushed through every lecture unit (she likes tangents) and she is so easily distracted. No canvas use and almost hides grades. Good course, prof. is knowledgeable but can't teach well.
She is a very nice lady, but she can't teach. I aced the first test, but it was all downhill from there. She was constantly going off on tangents, she wasn't teaching material that we needed to learn, and her notes were difficult to follow. She didn't understand the questions people asked her, and she was overall a confusing professor. Avoid.
She is a great lady; however, she doesn't teach. She gives packets of notes and will read from them but will jump from one page to another. She is all over the place and literally told us "sorry I didn't have time to cover it, you have the notes, figure it out yourself" for the final. Plus "labs" are just extra long lectures. I usually get A's...
I learned a lot in this class, but it was pretty easy to pass. She would tell us many of the questions that would be on upcoming tests. The billion handouts were frustrating when cramming into the binder but very helpful when studying. Despite this, it's still a ton of info so bring your A game, even though your B game might get you that A.
I really enjoyed coming to this class, and professor Gilcrease made it really easy to understand challenging material. I bought the book, but didn't ever use it, and she handed out tonnns of notes/packets in class. I never really studied, except for right before quizzes, and managed to get an A, and there was 20 points extra credit before the final
Bio 201 is a hard class to begin with, but it helps if you have a professor that really knows the material and does a good job explaining it. Gilcrease doesn't do a great job in lecture. You are given packets with endless pages of notes you "go over" in class in which she just reads them and moves on. Not very organized at all. Goodluck with tests.
Not organized, doesn't use canvas so forget knowing your grade, and get ready to teach yourself. She gives you a hand out and reads word for word and jumps outline to outline making it hard to catch up. She does give extra credit but your whole grade is based on tests and quizzes. But she did pass me even though I shouldn't have.
Might as well teach yourself. Gives you tons of handouts, just reads off her notes to you. hard to follow, very disorganized, and jumps topic to topic and you cant follow. Tests are mediocre if you study yourself. Doesnt use canvas so you can not follow your grade or whats going on in class. Quiz every other class period.
The book is not required to pass this class, she provides detailed packets on each topic. She easily gets carried away and behind, this causes test dates to be changed or cut-out. Study all of the packet(s) for tests, she will ask questions on things that did not seem important during lecture. She also does weekly quizzes that are fairly easy.
I'm an adult student (mid 30s) - new career. Compared to other college professors I have had, she is actually pretty easy. Be sure to take good notes in class She gives you hand-outs to study/memorize. If she draws something on the board, draw it too. It WILL be on the test! Lots of memorization. Work hard A! Very knowledgeable professor.
Lecture was based on paper, questions were not from the book.
Horrible teacher. She runs off on tangents all the time and seems like she doesn't know what she is doing. Her quizzes are easy but her tests are hard. Labs are the worst with her! Everything is packets and hardly any hands on work. Definitely wouldn't take her again.
Ended up dropping the class because of how frustrating it was to catch up with this teacher. very disorganized and unclear. hated the way we could take notes it made it difficult to study. textbook is not even need. Very difficult lab exams.
Gilcrease was very disorganized. Gave us way too many handouts. Hard to know what to study for the quizzes and exams. You don't need the book at all, save your money! It is nice that she gives us the main talking points in one packet and writes notes as she talks, but with all the other handouts, you have to flip through to keep up.
Nicest professor. She does give extra credit, she does give out good notes, and she is funny. She lectures a lot and has lots of quizzes to keep you studying. No homework besides studying. Make sure you show up for lectures. She tells you exactly whats on practicals and for the most part, on exams. She knows her stuff.
She knows her stuff but is very disorganized. Practicals are very difficult, so spend time studying. She recommended buying the book, but honestly, you don't need it, she covers everything she wants you to know with her notes packets. She does not publish grades which is frustrating. I would not take her unless there were no other options.
Shes frazzled and disorganized. Not a great teacher to begin with. Gets off topic often, Explains too much unnecessary information
Overall the class is pretty difficult (STUDY, STUDY, STUDY)! But, Professor Gilcrease goes over a lot of the material in lecture & lab. She points out what you should know & ways to remember the notes too. Honestly, I loved having her!
This is by far the worst teacher I have had! She gives you these thick packets that she just goes through each verbally, she gives out some visual handouts to try and understand it better. When I was in her class everyone around me was failing. The dissections are fun, but ONLY TAKE HER CLASS IF YOU ARE A STRONG AUDITORY LEARNER!!
She gives funny examples that will help you remember things, but when it comes to actually teaching lecture and lab she is incredibly disorganised. She is easier than a few anatomy teachers, but I wouldn't recommend. I will say that she is super sweet lady - she also prints off the notes for you(:
She spends way too much time talking about matters not related to the class, VERY disorganized, notes are hard to follow and you are basically teaching yourself a majority of the material. A nice person but not so great of a teacher.
This class was pretty material heavy, a verbal teacher. She gives out a ton of study guides and packets, and I mean a ton, she reads everything on the packet. You have to make sure you study for her class and the tests. She gets off topic a lot & is disorganized, a lot of time was wasted due to this. She is very kind & there is extra credit.
Do not take her! Completely disorganized, the whole class was confused. Doesn't address questions clearly. Homework is irrelevant for learning, just copying over sheets and no preparation for exams. She is a very nice person but her teaching style is just too confusing, get prepared to rely completely on external resources to learn the content.
My experience with Mrs. Gilcrease has been an interesting one. The first one on one meeting I had with her during her office hours was awful. First things first, she was incredibly disrespectful. Each time I tried to voice a concern, she cut me off and did not let me finish my sentences. She also blatantly told me that I probably would not
Continuation: she cut me off during my questions I had for her and told me blatantly that I would not understand the course and I probably didnt know anything(she said this to my face). She also does not respond to emails in a reasonable amount of time. I emailed her 4 times (during her office hours) before she got back to me. She is unorganized.
The lab exams were some of the hardest tests I have ever done, pairing difficult anatomy terms with brutal fill in the blank scoring. Not only is this time consuming and distracting, but it compromises learning the content in depth. The generous test curving is telling that people are failing in masse. Save yourself the pain and find another class.
Take live online, you wont regret it. Gives answers to things and is very flexible with due dates if you need an extra day. Lecture exams are hard and she doesnt give a study guide. Class is pretty easy besides the lecture exams because she goes over everything.
There are so many notes and labs, fill in the blank quizzes, if a word is spelled wrong it is wrong. I took the on your own time online course, if you do I recommend doing the extra credit introducing yourself, it will save you. Never asked how we were doing or if we were retaining info correctly, look for another professor.
Run far away from this TERRIBLE professor. I took her online BIO201 course and she was absolutely horrendous at teaching, communication, and transparency. Professor Gilcrease waited until the final three days of the course to grade Labs/Tests. Resulting in inaccurate grades and overall frustration. I would never ever take one of her courses again.
Yes the course itself is difficult but having a TERRIBLE professor makes it 10x worse. Gilcrease did nothing to help no emails, announcements, letting you see incorrect answers on quizzes, constantly changing the schedule by adding assignments the day of, long pointless fill in the blank notes, RUDE, put grades in the last week of class.
This class is very hard with no guidance. The teacher takes months to grade assignments especially labs but will turn around around and give you a 200 point lab exam. She doesnt communicate at all. She gives a lot of fill in blank notes and a huge lecture exam for the chapters. Time management was not good and neither was her teaching.
Gilcrease is one of the worst professors I've ever had. She accused the entire class of cheating and refused to pass anyone with an A. She did an awful job at teaching the material, and the lecture exams were very hard. When asked about grading, she responded that she was too busy and didn't grade anything until the last week of the semester.
Very unorganized Teacher. For weeks grades will not be updated ( practicals and lecture tests). Does not respond to emails often, so no feedback ever. She does NOT round up or provide extra credit. her ways of teaching will not help you succeed. At all. If your trying to pass this class you need a teacher that will put in the time to help. Beware.
Worst instructor ever. She teaches her lab but doesn't make the lab manuals.. constantly seems confused and mumbles to herself often. She's honestly kind of rude... barely even teaches, just feels like she "goes over" stuff and she rushes through lectures. Prepare to do a ton of studying on your own time.. you need a tutor if you have her.
This is an already very difficult class. This professor does not make it any easier. She makes you use a lockdown browser with a camera to record yourself. She doesn't always cover everything in her lectures and videos. The labs are very difficult and be prepared to figure it out by yourself and research. The tests and quizzes are super difficult
She is by far the laziest teacher I've ever had. She has not come out with new material for her class since the beginning of covid and provides absolutely no study material. Ms.Gilcrease spent 0 time teaching this year for all of her salary.
Lots of time consuming labs and quizzes. Half the quizzes and all of the tests require Respondus Lockdown browser. Notes are fill in the blanks and they are ridiculously long! Answers questions by reading over notes and wasn't very helpful. Got the impression that she does not care about her student's grades. Little extra credit. A student, got C.
Gilcrease helped me out so much, she is more than willing to work with you. She is understanding and wants you to succeed.
This professor phones it in for this entire course. You don't get any actual feedback on any of the busywork assignments she gives. She reads from the ppt and notes for all lectures, repeatedly wastes time talking about things like why acronyms exist rather than actually teaching. This teacher makes a required course an absolute waste of money.
I think she was nice. It is a tough course with lots of info to remember. I spoke with other students with different teachers and they said the layout was similar in their classes. Labs quizes are fill in the blank. If you want to ace your lab quizes, study the flashcards/fill in the blank sections of each lab module. I would take her class again.
Lots of homework with diagrams. Spelling has to be perfect in this class and there's loads of new vocabulary. What was most upsetting was the study quizzes and guides. It's was almost as if those topics were purposely left off of the quiz or test. Class would be more manageable if that alone was more helpful. Also lectures were extremely boring
Lots of memorization and tricky quizzes/tests. The professor isn't the most engaging, but using unstuck study and studying the lab modules helped me get a solid grade. Would take again if I had to.
I think Gilcrease was a great professor. She made online flashcards for lab exams & created notes from her lectures that made it easier to study. I didn't read the book because her study guides / notes & power points made it easy to prepare for exams, which were accurate to the questions. Lots of studying but I would recommend her.
Gilcrease is a lovely teacher. She gives you fill in blank notes from lectures, she makes lab easy to study for with online flashcards and gives good feedback. She is not a hard grader and gives extra credit after exams. I only read 1 chapter off the book and passed. Homework is tedious but that's the only thing I disliked about the class.
Any online class is more difficult to engage students and not as easy to ask for questions like in person. Don't take this class if you have a full schedule, as this class needs a lot of time. Professor tries but ititss more how much you can study and teach it yourself.
She uses 5 year old material and her tests are graded very heavily! Will fail you if she can't view the material her way, regardless on if you followed her instruction on how to upload it! Do not recommend
