You could study for one of her tests for 3 days straight and still get a 60%..they are that hard. Dont know what the people are saying like "easy A" because this class is ridiculous. To get an A you basically HAVE to memorize ALL of her 6 billion notes that she has...for the love of God take it downtown!
BAD teacher! Fill in the blank notes for "easiness" but she goes too fast to even get the fill ins. Attendance isn't mandatory but there's clicker questions. Isn't helpful, gives no study guides. I'm taking 202 Downtown
Be prepared to work your harder then you ever have! The lab and the class are a joke. I'm an A student & have taken anatomy before and had to drop the class. You literally have to memorize notes word for word. Labs are even worse. I would study weeks before the exams and still didn't get above 70%. Take the class downtown, it' sooooo much easier!
hardest class i've ever taken. your anatomy notes will become your life. i had to withdraw from the class because there was no way i was going to get even a C. be ready to memorize word by word notes,& 5 million more things for the lab practicals. take at a different campus if you dont want to spend your semester with your notes as your best friend
Class is nothing close to easy. If your a freshman taking this class be prepared to not go out on weekends,or have any free time. You will be studying nonstop, and basiclly memorize notes word for word. Don't take her class at the Tempe campsus. The labs are NOT EASY.Its a very tuff class that I would not recommend.
This class is somewhat difficult. For the most part your grade reflects how much you study. There are no study guides for the tests so that makes the tests kinda hard. The book mimics the powerpoint notes. This class does take a lot of effort but if you acutal try you should do fine.
I hate this class. It's ridiculous...she picks the tiniest details off her power point slides instead of actually testing on whether or not you understand the concepts. I thought I was going to enjoy this class, but she's really done an excellent job of proving to me how much she sucks. Take it with a different professor if you can.
Although her lectures are clear and concise (but boring, boring, boring), the tests are incredibly difficult (there's little to no extra credit and I'm pretty sure she doesn't curve). Unless you're a genius or have had copious prior experience in the field, you must study every day if you want a decent grade.
Tests are mostly straight forward, but incredibly detailed. KNOW THE LECTURE NOTES!! She doesn't give "-" grades, which is nice. Very straight forward class, study hard for the practicals. Lab grades may be curved, depending on your class average. Overall, an okay class for having over 400 people.
One of the hardest class....the HARDEST class i have ever taken. She expects you to know the tiniest detail from lectures and misleads you during exams. Exams are tricky, no curve, and after studying my ass off....i am still getting a D, which is not acceptable for Dental School. Take with different teacher!!!
Be prepared to work hard. My advice is to study super hard the first three tests because if you do well on those, you do not have to take the final. Be prepared to memorize a lot.. But you will learn a lot as well.
Extremely knowledgeable professor. If you study notes, read textbook, and do practice questions whenever available you will be fine. I learned so much from Dr. Washo!
Her specialty in grad school was immunology so be sure to study especially hard for the test pertaining to the immune/lymphatic systems. If you study the notes, and understand the material in the textbook, an A is not out of reach. She wants her students to understand the material, not just memorize it, and her tests are set up that way.
THIS IS RIDICULOUS. BORING teacher...sure...she's knowledgeable...however her exams, I feel, do not test knowledge of material...she is the MOST BORING teacher ever. reads her stupid notes...which are ridiculous. Cant teach worth a****....exam questions are SO confusing....idk how she got a PHD...never take it with this crazy lady
Yes, lectures can be boring sometimes but her exams are straight from the notes and textbook. Your grade really depends on how much effort you put into this class. As long as you study the notes, textbook, and supplemental materials then you should be fine! Trust me. :)
I had Dr. Washo for BIO 201 and 202. I remember studying for her final and knowing all the info that she wanted us to know and still getting a 70 on it (BIO 202). BIO 202 has less points than 201 has so its harder to get a good grade in the class. TAKE ANATOMY DOWNTOWN WITH OLSON! you will be SOO glad you did.
Absolutely terrible teacher. She cares nothing about the students, their grades or opinions. HATED HER!! strongly suggest taking it on a different campus, dont waste your time because she is just ridiculous.
She is an absolute joke! Her class is BORING and RIDICULOUSLY HARD. People write that you just have to study the notes.... the notes are literally 250+ pages of powerpoint notes and she'll use the smallest detail from one page as a test question. You know what they say about those who can't do.....
The comments saying "she is a great teacher/very nice" are true but that doesn't cover up the fact that you will NOT get a good grade in the class unless you study 10 hrs a day for this class. She curves lab like 5 points max (out of 250) and no curve for lecture. No curve + bad teacher + HARD lab + 1000hrs of studying = take this class downtown!
I took this class and ATAed for it, quite acting surprised this is a hard course! Did anyone notice the '2' in 201? She is nice and approachable, lecture topics are standard A&P topics. Its nice that you get the powerpoints and the exams are multiple choice. Expect to study and you'll do fine.
Expect to put in more time than any class you've taken thus far. Hours and hours of studying and memorizing will get you a good grade. Go to every lab too. Lab participation is a great grade buffer. Do all extra credit that is offered and try to go to every lecture. If you study the lecture slides and know them in and out you will do well on tests!
This is a hard class, if you are not a science student be prepared for a lot of studying. She speeds through the material so you don't have much time to write everything down. The lecture section is tame compared to lab, be prepared for TA's who don't help at all. Just know what you are getting into before taking this course, it's not easy.
Washo krupps is OK professor. She reads off her powerpoints and you fill the blanks w/ her gapped notes during lecture. But she turns off the lights, and doesn't move from the podium. She doesn't walk around and ask ?s to engage the students. Her notes are verbatim and boring. Her exam ?s are memorization which makes you feel like you didn't learn
Every bio class is plain memorization, yet this class is a whole new level. She is moderate at best. Her teaching skills are allured by pp presentations. Monotonic. Difficult tests. If you have a desire in medicine, I suggest taking it with a different instructor. Also, this is not a course to take for science requirement.
Delon is a great lecturer and really knows her stuff. Her expectations are ridiculously high and work load is almost unreasonable. This is the hardest class I have ever taken and I am a 4th year! It is interesting but having the Lab is like having a separate class in itself. Be sure to set ALOT of extra time aside for this class.
Yes, this is a difficult and time consuming class, but there's a lot of material to cover in one semester. Her notes are fill in the blank, which I prefer because it keeps you engaged but not trying to copy everything down and not learning a thing. The tests are pretty difficult, but so is the material. Overall, I really liked her as a professor!
One of the best lecture teachers ever! Totally funny and interesting and is always willing to help! The class is hard but read the book pages she assigns, do the connect, and study the notes and you should be fine. With the final your lowest grade is dropped so that is a plus! Seriously an awesome teacher. New outlook on the human body!!!
Boring lecturer. Straight off PowerPoints. Come to class for the easy clicker points. Do the Connect assignments for the easy points. Study EXCLUSIVELY off the notes. I don't see how people struggle with her tests unless you struggle with memorizing or have not had any biology courses at all. I never got below 90 for 201 or 202 just using the notes
I am an honors student, and this was definitely my hardest class of the semester. Make sure you get all of the clicker question points, the homework assignment points, and all of the other easy points since the tests are pretty difficult. The material is very interesting, but there is a TON of information to not only memorize, but understand.
you must have a lot of time to dedicate to this class. If you dont have any previous experience with bio it is pretty difficult. You must understand the notes, not just memorize them.. The tests cover ppts and clicker questions. teacher is nice, but she expects a lot from you.
Hard hard hard class. Do not listen to anyone who says it's easy. It really isn't. Tests are a nightmare. You must UNDERSTAND a lot of physiology. Avoid her class at all costs! Take it somewhere else!!!
Do yourself a favor and take this class downtown with Dr. Olsen.
OK prof. Lots of points in 201 as opposed to 202 (currently taking). Not much learning occurs in this course. Seems like you memorize and forget a lot and if you are in a profession that requires this knowledge, that is a BAD thing. She does not engage her students well to understand the concepts taught. Another: Labs suck. Biased and mandatory.
Really difficult class just because lab is like having another class to study for practicals. Her Lectures are interesting but her exams are difficult and really detail oriented. Study off the powerpoint slides but she expects a lot and exams have a lot of detail oriented questions
The class itself is interesting, yet there the expectation is high. Lab is horrible, yet mandatory. If you want to learn something and still have interest, take it with Oleson. Lab is extremely biased and self taught.
This is a very difficult course. If you are taking it with Washo-Krupps, be sure to dedicate all your time. If you don't care much about it, you can still pass easily though.
This class was my favorite class I took at ASU! You have to have a passion to learn the material but it is worth the work. The material is difficule and I recommend using flash cards continuously to keep up. Your lab TA is a great resource if you need help studying and going to their office hours and study sessions for the lab is very beneficial.
Very interesting class but quite difficult. Expect to study a lot, for both lecture and lab. Know material from powerpoints and you will do well on the exams. Attendance isn't mandatory but she does ask several clicker questions a day for attendance points. Aside from that it's a great course
Professor Washoe-Krupps will bombard you non-stop w/info during lectures, allows for 0 questions, moves too quickly, tests are completely random, 4-5 chapters covered within 3 weeeks, absurd amount of lab material & assignments, class will eat up all of your time//I suggest taking it at comm college or downtown campus, class structure is horrible!!
Great teacher, moves quickly through notes. Huge class, can email her with any questions. She helps you prepare for tests by giving Connect Assignments! Difficult class to ace.
Lots of material, this is definitely a challenging course. She is interesting I guess, but she just reads her powerpoint to you in lecture and thats it. Her class is too big to get to know each other, so don't count on that at all. Exams were very challenging, and her TA's were not great. Lab was a bad experience for me. Take it somewhere else
There is a lot of material in the lecture, but that's due to the material. The class does require a lot of time and can be very difficult. The lab more than the lecture is the hard part and that will lower your grade. Before taking this class, make sure you can commit the time to it.
Dr. Washo-Krupps is a fair & knowledgeable professor. Exams are difficult, but only for those who don't put in the effort. I earned an A (before & after curve). Go to class, before exams: read chapters, rewrite notes, complete online assignment (8-10 hours). Don't neglect lab, or your grade will suffer ( study for the weekly lab quizzes!!)
Loved this class. If any one says this course was hard, they probably weren't interested in the human body at all or put no effort in. The homework is easy points. Delon makes it easy to get an A as long as you come to class and pay attention. Don't neglect lab, study for quizzes. Test are straight from lecture and clickers. AND practice test.
Do not take this class unless you are a BIO major who lives/eats/and breathes anatomy/physio. While the instructor is knowledgable and has a lot of information to share, it is a crazy amount of information and is a huge time commitment. I agree with a previous poster, and this class is a GPA killer.
This professor was by far the worst I have had while at ASU. She never expands off the slides, doesn't organize information well, assigns useless assignments, and the exams are difficult. She has been less then helpful. I would never recommend her to any other student.
Class is difficult (but only because of lab). Tests are easy because they are exactly the lecture slides-nothing more. So as long as you fill in her lecture notes you are good to go. There are also a lot of easy points such as discussion boards and homeworks. At the end your lowest test score is dropped. Boring, but straightforward! I recommend!
The class is very organized. 99% of test questions come from her lecture slides and if something is not clear, just read the textbook! However, if you have alot of other hard classes I would not recommend this class. It is very time consuming. You have to put in ALOT of time to get an A, I got a B with way lower effort. Work hard and ull be fine!
You should attend class (clicker questions are on her exams), but notes are fill in the blank slides, so you could get everything from a friend. Memorize all the slides before exams and do her online assignments for an A. She is super nice and helpful if you go to office hours or talk to her after class! Take her if you plan to take the MCAT/DAT!
Took over the summer,no HW, clicker questions on tests, test q's right off her ppts. You can find all her ppts filled in online easily, only reason to go to class is for clicker pts. Never used the book, but the book is very good. Lab was easy, put in the time to review the slides and an A-B is easy. she doesnt give minus grades only solid and plus
Absolutely HORRIBLE! Far too much work with no preparation or guidance for practical lab exams or regular exams. Had to pay for 5 proctored tests/labs. I withdrew from BIO 202 until there is another professor or this one makes changes to her online curriculum.
This instructor has unrealistic expectation in regards to exams. This is the firs time this instructor has taught this class online and it certainly showed. She was dismissive and rude!
This class was HARD and very time consuming. If you have a life, I would not recommend this class. You will have to pay for 5-6 Proctored exams. Each cost about $22-$25. A six page study guide with about 100 questions on each page to research was given to study for an exams.
A VERY difficult class. A ton of information and moves quickly. Be prepared to study a lot. Average class grade on tests were a high-D to low-C. Passes everything but lectures on to her TAs and labs. Has fill-in-blank notes available online so they are easy to follow and study from. Online assignments for lectures linked w/ book due before tests.
Ridiculous amount of work required. She did not prepare us very well for the labs or exams. This was her first time teaching the course online and obviously had no clue about online teaching. I would not recommend this course with this particular professor to anyone unless it is a degree requirement and there are no other alternatives.
This class is fine if you are a fresh or soph, it's like being in day care, very easy, professor has cutesy little stories, and the test questions are terrible, with answer choices that mean the same thing. If you just want to get an A go for it but otherwise uninteresting. Too bad she is the only professor who teaches 201 and 202.
I do not recommend this course. The instructor is rude and does not believe in the success of her students. Just reads from pp notes. Test are ridiculously hard. Everything is memorization.
Terrible teacher. Literally one of the worst I have ever had here at ASU. Reading from powerpoint slides is not teaching, I can read the book to learn the same information. Cares little about her students, and forgets to upload the correct powerpoints. Take BIO 201/202 on another campus
Took her for both BIO 201 and 202. The notes make it easy to study since the book has WAY more information in it than we learn. I barely used the book. HW assignments are more like busy work but the points add up. Clicker questions make attendance kinda mandatory and some questions end up on the test
She is a very organized person & great teacher! I always knew what to expect on the exams, and if you read through your notes a few times there should be no surprises. I was able to ace all tests without extreme amounts of studying and it is a fair amount of work for the difficulty of material. If you're interested in the body its an awesome class!
Surprisingly I got an A for this class. As expected, there were a lot of things to memorize but that's pretty much it.For lecture exams do study Delon's presentations and do study the extra Study materials she posted on Blackboard, they're really helpful.Lab practicals and quizzes are hard but there's a curve for lab grade at the end(about 10-15pts)
It is very possible to get an A if you do the discussion board, do the online assignments (which are time consuming but easy) and memorize her lecture power points! I really liked the way she taught, she made the material easy to understand. The tests are straight from the notes, you don't have to read the book. I loved this course!
Dont buy the book. Never used it and got an A. People complaining this is a hard class didn't try or are sophomores who havn't had a hard class at ASU. Lots of memorizing but the material is usually interesting if you like knowing about the body. Online HW's take forever. Just study a lil everyday and it'll be fine. Exams are all MC and pretty easy
Delon is very helpful and unlike professors of such big classes.. she emails back quickly. Her tests are off of the powerpoint. If you do all assignments (DB's, and online) you should get a good grade. I got a B even though I did about average on the lecture exams and got a B in lab. Time consuming but not impossible.
She does read straight off her powerpoints but then again the tests are based entirely off of them as well. This is a time-consuming class but online homework does help you learn the material. The lab can also be hard since it's mostly memorizing anatomy while the lecture focuses on physiology. Overall not a too difficult class but time consuming.
Stay away from this instructor. She is rude and dismissive to online students. She seems to forget that this is only a 200 level course and has impossible expectations for exams. Horrible instructor!
If you like science courses you will like this class. It's a lot of work.
I don't know what most of these reviews are talking about! This was a hard, demanding class, but you are in college! As long as you read, watch the lectures, do all the assignments and review for exams, you will be just fine. I finally feel like I got my moneys worth with this instructor. If you want to learn A&P, this is the class for you!
Really straightforward. Exams are right off of the power points and are 50 questions long. Connect assignments are long but easy. Delon is a really nice professor and has lots of stories. If you're interested in A&P then Delon's class is the class to take
Not a good professor. She doesn't elaborate the class notes; just reads directly off the slides. Super strict with grading - doesn't curve. Didn't like her at all.
Boring & uninteresting; only reads off the powerpoint. Had an exam where half of it was missing & she had to print out the rest during the exam. Everyone had to waste most of their exam time just to actually receive their exam. Some people didn't receive the last half of their test until 10-20 minutes were left. She didn't care & didn't curve.
Took the class over the summer. little to no book use as all of the tested information is given in the slides. Test every Monday, and they are all multiple choice. Labs were straight forward
I usually don't post any ratings, but I have to for this one because I was SO worried about this class based on other reviews, and it went so smoothly! First off, Dr. Washo-Krupps is such a kind professor, she understands that exams are tough, so you have a lot of assignments to make up for it. Great class and if you work hard, you'll get an A!
There is an incredible amount of studying required to really grasp the material and to know all of the terms. She lectures from power point, but she's funny and tells stories. If you do the extra credit and all of the assignments, it is ok if you don't ace your exams. You'll still get an A. All exams are proctored, which is an additional fee.
Pretty boring lecture. I thought lab was way more interesting. I FAILED the muscle physiology test. Like, bombed. That unit is basically incomprehensible. Luckily she drops the lowest exam and the final exam is EASY.
she is incredibly boring, stands in the front of the room just reading slide after slide. class is mandatory because she has missing spaces in the slides you have to fill out. the subject is hard, however her voice and teaching method DO NOT help in learning the material. such a boring class and teacher. she is terrible. good luck, youll need it!
My biggest problem is that we receive a BULK of information which is fine, but she doesn't help concentrate it so you know what to focus on. She provides useless 'study guides'. If you go through the bullet points it LITERALLY is every single slide in order.
Wonderful person and a great teacher though her lecturing voice does occasionally make me a bit sleepy. Her exam materials are straight from the powerpoints so as long as you show up to fill in the powerpoints you should be good. Plus there's a ton of TAsATAs to ask for help from in addition to her.
Do NOT take this class if you have a tough course schedule for that semester; I just had to withdraw from the course because I would have gotten a D. She covers a BULK of information, and it takes COPIOUS amounts of memorization to get it all and do well on tests. Lecture is boring and she reads directly from her slides, doesn't even move.
What do you expect... it's an Anatomy class in 8 weeks. The tests are tough because you have to work your butt off 8 hours a day studying to get a good grade (unless you can memorize really well. Classroom set-up could be a little more streamlined but she does offer great extra credit each section.
The class is pretty tough. A lot of material is presented and you will be expected to fill in the blanks she has on the power points she reads from. Material can be interesting but the exams are tough and require lots of reading and memorization. Doing the assignments and participating are vital if your a poor test taker as they are what helped me.
Tests are way tougher than expected. Final (optional) is easy compared to other exams, so plan on taking that to help your grade. Lab practicals are wayyyy hard, so study, study, study, and then study again. Save time for this course if you want to do well and retain knowledge for MedPT school. Professor reads the slides, so lame lectures.
Probably the hardest Bio class I've taken, all the tests are off the powerpoints which is all she lectures off all semester long. Struggled the first half of semester until I started recording her lectures and listened to them over and over. Don't skip and begin studying as soon as possible
Lectures are dreadful, but necessary. She gives cues on isn't on the test and fill-in-the-blank notes. The exams come straight from the powerpoints. Fair, but difficult. Practicals are very difficult. Tons of memorization and studying required. I averaged an 85 on the exams and excelled in lab and got an A. There is a curve at the end too.
Definitely do not take this class if you are not prepared to study! Make sure to read your textbook as long as going to class. Your notes are fill-in-the-blank and can be confusing if you overlook them until the day before an exam. Lab is also quite difficult. As long as you study and go to every class, you'll be okay.
Her lectures can be boring & it's tough to sit there just to fill in the blanks in your notes... but she's really nice and straight-forward. It's rewarding if you are willing to try. 202 is a bit tougher than 201, but she teaches and tests the exact same way. Study the Powerpoint slides and take notes of the clicker questions she asks in lecture!
Considering this is such a difficult subject covering a lot of material, there is no way for it to be easy. Dr. W is very organized in her approach and is always very helpful when students ask for it. She cares about out success and though lectures can be boring, how can it not when the info is dry and so technical. I would recommend. Labs harder
She's really boring and her lectures were my nap time. The only reason I went was for clicker points, however, she only accepts 40 points for that so once you get that many, you don't have to go. Unless you want to get the material in the notes because she leaves blanks throughout the powerpoint. I did not think she lectured well at all.
Don't take any courses with this teacher. Her lectures are boring and her tests are tough. Take A&P with someone else if you actually want to learn and be encouraged.
If you actually pay attention in class the lectures don't seem so extensive. She has 4 exams, 75 questions each, a cumulative final and she drops a test grade at the end which can really help your grade if you do well on the final. Reading the book helps, it corresponds with the notes. Connect OL hw sucks a lot, she gives 300+ Q's before the exams.
Took this course over the summer and truly enjoyed it. There was A LOT of material and did a ton of studying but the setting was small and intimate with about 30 students. Lectures are long but go by quick if you actually pay attention to what she's saying. I bought the APR that came with the book but never used it - got an A in the class.
The exams are brutal and lab is killer. Learn Smart assignments are due the day of the exam and are extremely tedious and NOT worth the points that she gives them. This past semester she changed the class set-up so now you have to watch the lectures at home on your own time as well as still go to class and do everything else that she assigns you.
Awesome teacher. Tough weeder class for medical programs. Utilizes flipped-classroom by making students watch lectures before class. AT-Still PA program does this, too. It probably helps students digest material. Dedicate a lot of time to this class. If you plan on attending med school, take this class seriously. Study hard. Make flashcards. lol
A&P is a tough class. Period. Besides that, Delon does her best to make class fun and interesting. I've been studying this subject for years and I still learned new things! Would take again. You HAVE to study for exams. Homework is online & repeatable so make sure to get 100%'s they're a good buffer. DO WELL IN YOUR LAB IT'S 1/3 OF YOUR GRADE.
This class is a lot of work, but it's not as hard as people make it out to be. For the tests, study the slides and look over the study guide. DO NOT rely on the homework or book to study. Krupps is a pretty fair grader, and she's always willing to help if you ask for it. Tests are straight forward. If you put in the work, this is an easy class.
Hardest class I have ever taken. I am an A student and I am barely getting a C. I study about 45 hours a week and her test have nothing to do with anything you go over in lectures or study guides. TONS of HOMEWORK that you get nothing out of and boring lectures. Try to find someone else if you can.
Even with 3 years prior ecperience with A&P, this was the course I spent the most time on outside class. Practicals are hard if you're not good at memorizing. You HAVE to study you just have to. Delon gives you lecture slides with blanks in them and you have to fill them in during lecture. That's the one complaint I have, she's lovely otherwise.
An online class is harder than regular class settings. But she is a bit over zealous with her expectations. It's unrealistic to expect students to learn and retain three heavy chapters with 5 heavy assignments in 6 days then have a large exam that awkwardly proctored. The least she could do is open-book exam which is still challenging when timed.
This is one of the more challenging classes I've ever taken. I'd say it's not clear, because there is a plethora of information that you have to absorb over a week, that people find tough to learn over a regular semester with a professor spoon feeding it to you. I think she's lacking support to the students by not offering more guidance.
Her homework included 3 chapters with 100 problems or more, and all for 6 or so points. She assigned random points that you didn't think would add up, but they do. You have 5 exams (including the final which replaces one of them, so 4 in the grade book). Study and you'll do fine.
I loved this class! The content was interesting . Washo-Krupps always cleared up any questions I had. You should get 100% on HW, discussion board, quizzes, and clicker questions as long as you do them. I got a C on a lab practical and a D on one test and i still managed to pass the class with an decent A without the finial.
The lectures are fill in the blank so you need to go to class. If you do all the work, you should get a perfect score in every section of grading except for tests, which are difficult and very long. She does drop a test grade and most people don't have to take the final. Lab was difficult and a lot of information, as was the lecture class.
She was a great prof for BIO 201, but 202 she basically gave up teaching and just posted videos online. She didn't elaborate or go into details during class, just asked clicker questions for participation then left before we could ask her questions. Be ready to learn by yourself and memorize the videos! Lots of her test answers come from there.
Her lectures are mostly fill in the blanks in lecture slides so showing up to class is important. She ask clicker questions which does help you on exams. Assignments due on test days through Connect. MEMORIZATION HEAVY based on her lectures. It's a lot information but you will do well if you study. I personally enjoyed the class.
She does not have good communication with students. One part of it is that she teaches so many students (400+). The other part is how much material she expects you to know before each test. Prepare to memorize about 3-4 chapters worth of material and lecture slides if you want an A. Would not take again.
I was really interested in Anatomy despite it not being necessary for my major. Professors make and break classes and she broke this for me. I still enjoy the topic but she has made it more like a chore with 200 problems of connect HW per chapter and her lack of response or care for my questions in email. I won't be taking her for BIO 202.
Not the worst professor out there but not my favorite. The lecture is fill-in-the-blank which becomes dry and boring after 15 minutes. Class criteria and expectations are straight forward but easier said than done. The hardest thing was memorizing 3-4 deep chapters worth of material for the 80 question tests. This class overall was just ok.
Had for both Bio 201/202- both are A&P fo science majors- this is NOT an easy science credit and the instructor is very straightforward about this. Dr. Washo-Krupps gives Clear expectations and lecture material and responds to emails/hallway convo posts quickly. Lots of lectures- notes are fill in the blank style. To succeed on tests use the study guides provided - they cover anything that could be on the exam and will prepare you very well. Also take advantage of the LS extra credit every week. At 4 PTs each they add up and also help you learn the material. Really enjoyed my two courses with this instructor !
There is a lot of content to learn in not a lot of time. I love this subject and she is a fine teacher, super glad this class is over. Nearly impossible to get anything higher than an 85 on an exam no matter how many hours you study. Expect to have 100-200 flash cards to learn for an exam and have an exam every week. Earn every homework point poss.
Really interesting class that covers a lot of topics within anatomy. I've never felt like I studied harder for any other class than this one. Her lectures are bland at best but do include what you need to know for the exams. I wasn't quite ready for the workload and don't sign up with her unless you are prepared to study!
Intelligent woman, but terrible teacher. Tests are all trick questions. Obsessed with disease and not health.. Asks questions about viagra and Gardasil.
She does active learning in bio202, unlike 201 which makes the class a lot more fun and interactive. You have to study consistently to do well. No studying just the night before if you want to really do well. Test questions come from clicker questions. Very interesting class, but get ready to put in lots of effort.
Everyone I've talked to hates this class and this professor, but I honestly thought it was easy. I didn't open the book, and all I did was study the clicker questions that she does every day (which are participation points). I'm not sure why everyone thinks she is so terrible. I got a 97% in this class for using common sense.
Anyone who says this class is easy has either taken anatomy before or is lying. Washo-Krupps does give you all you need to do well with study guides, clicker questions, and review sessions but she is not a great teacher. Your success depends on your commitment to study the material because her presentations don't give you time to remember it all.
She is an amazing teacher. She gives you everything you need to know in the notes and study guides for tests. You have to work hard, but she will help you if you ask. She has participation points every lecture, so don't miss class. Also, makes sure you get your homework done ahead of time, bc there is a lot.
Her lectures force you to go to class as she posts the gap note slides so in lecture you fill in the blanks. There are clicker points, online homework, 4 quizzes and a discussion board requirement which are all easy points. Tests are based solely off the powerpoints, but because it is so much info, they can be tough. I never used the textbook.
Be warned, the subject matter of this class is pretty difficult. I know that going into this class a lot of students thought it would be as difficult as a high school A&P class. IT IS NOT. A little less than half the people in my lab dropped the class due to an impending F grade. I strongly suggest you at least BIO181 before this class.
Dr. Washo-Krupps is a fantastic teacher. Her expectations are very clear. For a difficult class, it was easy to get an A if you put in the work. She provides study guides for each exam. She only keeps four of the five exams taken as well.
One of the worst classes I've ever taken, teacher is ambivalent to say the least. Has no time to answer questions and has massive tests full of trick questions. I really enjoyed Anatomy and Physiology before this class, she's put a huge damper on my enthusiasm. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
Hardest class I've ever taken. A lot of course material to memorize. Took this class online. Spent up to 4 hours a day, even on weekends, doing assignments. Dr. Washo-Krupps does a good job of providing feedback quickly, though. Much harder than any anatomy class I've ever taken before. Do every assignment or you will probably fail.
Difficult course but hello, it's A&P - what do you expect? Prof is quick to reply and gives good feedback. Lots of material and related homework. Video lectures are +/- helpful. Weight of exams (lecture and lab) is offset by amount of homework - if test-taking isn't your specialty. EC for reading $martbook could turn a C+ into a B-
Very difficult.
If you're not ready to work, you will be miserable. That isn't Delon's fault. I think she is fantastic & the way 202 is structured is awesome. Watch the lectures online - go to class, clicker points & connect assignments will save your grade - don't skip them!! I averaged 77% on all exams & still got a B+. Make friends! My lab group saved me!
If you don't go to lecture you definitely won't pass. Washo-Krupps makes the material a little easier to understand. You definitely have to put a lot of time in to studying and doing homework. A hard class, but you will learn a lot.
She's good at lecturing, high energy and excited about the material. This class requires you to memorize a lot. That's it, pretty much. But there is a lot to memorize, so much so that it is difficult, but not if you're good at memorizing and good about setting aside time to do it
Lecture exams are not tough. They are easy , but you need to give yourself 5 days of heavy studying before exam. I reviewed all the material 4 hours before the exam and got an A . Lab is easy, curve at the end, but don't bank on it. Study for the quizzes; at least 3 hours. get 30/40 on practical get 84 on all lecture exams and solid A at the end.
This class is very well structured & interesting, BUT this is NOT a good choice for your gen. science. It is time consuming...2+ hours everyday-not exaggerating! The tests have tricky questions. This class is for someone that has A LOT of time to study (one class only-no job) or more than basic anatomy knowledge. Harder than any senior class!!
Awesome professor! A&P is a demanding class, however, she gives you all the tools to be successful in the class. Make sure to follow along with the lectures and USE APR for studying for lab practicals. It is super helpful for labeling! Extra credit is available weekly which it is time consuming but it helps for studying. I'd take her again!
YOU NEED TO STUDY! My advice to you, GO TO CLASS to get clicker points, do every Learnsmart assignment. EASY points & STUDY for tests.
vague study guides; grammatical errors/typos make studying frustrating Navigation of blackboard sometimes confusing Tough grading
I have taken a lab course online before and by far this was the most difficult one I've taken to date. The work load and expectations for an online lab are set at a very high level. This is a 7.5 week course and you're practically doing work for two classes in that time frame.
Okay so everyone will warn you that you will fail out of ASU if you even attempt this course but in reality it's just really time consuming. I am an average student and I have failed and gotten D's on every exam and practical and I STILL PASSED. They give out EC and clicker points and you should get them all!! It is possible, it just sucks.
She tries to make the difficulty of the class as manageable as possible. A&P is a demanding class & requires the work, so if you're not willing to put it in, your grade will reflect that. The tests are based straight from her PPTs so go to class to get the notes for them. Clicker points in class help your grade and easy extra credit is offered.
Delon is a great professor. She is knowledgeable and cares for her students. I took her for BIO 201 as well as 202. This class is very demanding. I enjoyed the subject, but her exams are difficult; purely application. For the past two semesters, I've never received a decent grade on any of her exams. It's a good class to take, but it's hard.
She covers a ton of info in each class, and everything is based on the notes she gives you. Requires a lot of studying out of class if you want a good grade. The tests are all application questions, so you really have to understand the material. She is not a bad prof, the material is just challenging. Don't take unless you have to.
Dr. W-K isn't great but isn't awful either. All the info for tests are from lecture slides, but doing the HW will help you learn the material. Yes, it's a lot of work, but her tests aren't hard if you actually study. I got an A on every exam just by studying slides and skimming the book. Go to class and get your clicker pts and do ANY EC provided.
The only way to get the notes for this class in by going to lecture & there are also clicker questions, too. TESTS ARE HARD so study hard! A lot of work, and a lot of studying/learning outside of class. The class moves fast!
This class takes a lot of work, but she gives you plenty of opportunities to help your grade besides the exams. For me the lab took up most of my time since it is purely memorization. Using APR program will save your grade, and you don't need to go beyond the study guide to review for exams. I got an A without getting an A on any exams.
Would not suggest taking. Lab and lecture dont move in sync, and its LOTS of busy work. Lectures are just reading off a powerpoint, and labs vary by TA. All together lab is 10 question quizzes every week based on 40 slide powerpnts, pre-lab assignments, practicals plus lecture hw and detailed lecture exams? So, so stressful. Most students retake.
This is one of those classes that makes you sit in the library and want to cry. The first exam has over 150 terms you need to know. I mean you have to know EVERYTHING (she said that herself). The summer course for this class is extremely overwhelming. She scheduled 2 exams on the same day. Yes, you heard me 2 exams in one day...
I took this class in the summer. I understand that because it is in summer it will be harder, that doesn't mean the prof has to be so uncaring. I got a 0 on an exam, I was flagged for not starring at the screen for the WHOLE 2 hours. After I explained my situation and offered to send in Dr notes, I STILL GOT A 0. Worst experience w an online class.
Soooo much work. I understand it is a summer class and everything is packed together but this was way too much. There is so much busy work that is not really needed and it distracts you away from preparing for the exams. Literally, you only have like a day or so to study 100+ terms if you stay on track with everything. Do not take this class!!!!
Summer 6 weeks course. Challenging class. But its a lot of material to cover. I failed every single exam but with all the homework and extra credit I finished with a B. Teacher prepares powerpoints and notes, grades really fast. I think she did great as a professor honestly just get ready to learn. You need to know this stuff regardless
Great professor. She explains things very clearly. 202 is given in an active learning style. Watch the videos ahead of time and you will make your life a lot easier. Come to class for clicker points. She's very clear about what is expected. Watch the lectures, study an average amount and you can get an A no program.
Very challenging course, especially since it is compressed into 6 weeks. Be prepared for a ton of assignments/lectures. It was a 1000 point class, 500 of it from exams and quizzes. There is room for error, just don't fall behind. I learned a lot, but had to put a lot of time and effort into keeping up. She always responded first to questions.
Pro 1. Teacher always has quick response to questions Con 1. minimum of 13 assignments due per week sometimes 2 exams 2. assignments have 50 -200 questions worth low point value 4-10 points 3. Strict proctored exams no time to learn material 4. does not focus on "big picture" concepts, tests on small details, so expected to EVERYTHING!
Too many assignments due weekly (10-12 average). Some were really time consuming (2hrs avg) and only worth 10pts, while exams were worth between 75-100. The way the points were structured left really little room for error. There are other instructors w different grading criteria that won't make you feel like you're falling behind & drowning in work
MANY assignments due weekly & only worth very little. Exams worth a lot w an exam due weekly on average. Wants you to know close to 150 terms per exam with not enough time to study them AND wants you to know details from the readings rather than big picture concepts. Instructor is knowledgeable but the online course/points are structured horriblyyy
Dr. WK is an amazing professor, especially for such a hard class. I took both BIO 201 and 202 in one summer and the workload was crazy but Dr. WK made it interesting and doable. Her lectures were incredibly useful, but the textbook was still necessary. Very interesting and comprehensive, but work intensive!
The class and lab should be split into 2 courses because that is how much work you have to do. This class has a ton of info and WILL be the class you think about throughout your semester, but if medicine is the route you want to take then I would highly recommend, she is accessible outside of class and gives good feedback. She will test you.
Real talk, this bio class takes up A LOT of your time, but it's definitely doable! Get all the points you can from homework and labs (attempts are unlimited). Also do the extra credit which is a pain but helpful. As for the exams, it may take 3-4 days to grasp the material. I suggest using 1 day to finish all the homework and the rest to study.
Dr. Washo-Krupps has a flipped classroom style, meaning she supplies (extremely useful) lecture videos and uses the class time to go over clicker questions and review important topics. Read through the powerpoints, watch the videos, and review clicker questions to be successful. BIO202 is tough, but she makes it enjoyable and rewarding!
Dr. Washo-Krupps is highly knowledgeable and leaves no stone unturned with Anatomy & Physiology. You WILL work hard in this class, probably harder than in most classes, but to ace the course is doable. Absorb the slides; the exams are derived from them. Clicker questions also reappear on tests. If you put in honest, daily work, it will pay off.
Pretty much everything for this class is done outside of the class. You have to watch videos of the lecture before you attend lecture, which is pretty much mandatory because there are clicker quizzes every day. Clicker questions are repeated on exams which is nice. Uses CONNECT for homework and each assignment has 150+ questions.
Dr. Washo-Krupps is a great anatomy professor and very knowledgable. The lecture exam were difficult but if you studied you were fine. She offers some extra credit and has many interesting lectures and tries to tie diseases and viruses into the material for pre-med students. She is willing to answer your questions and will help. Great Professor.
Prof Krupps is absolutely a great anatomy teacher. She knows her materials really well but she has a really bad teaching style which means she expect you to RECITE everything you have in the powerpoint. She is not a bad professor she answers when you ask but does not explain. You can basically find every answer from the ppt. NEED LOTS OF EFFORTS.
Dr. Krupps is really knowledgeable but the way she teaches A&P gets very boring very fast since he can easily spend several minutes on one powerpoint slide. Homework is online and EXTREMELY time consuming, so start early. Her exams are straightforward if you know the material, but can be really challenging if you don't put the study time in.
Dr. Washo-Krupps is organized, her course schedule is easy to follow, and the course blackboard page was easy to navigate. She was very responsive via email and on the Discussion Board. This is is a hard class, be sure to do all of the extra credit. If you want an A, be ready to spend 30-40 hours per week on coursework. It's a lot of work.
Dr. Washo-Krupps casual style belies her in-depth familiarity with anatomy & physiology. Shes very approachable, has a sense of humor, monitors the msg. board and responds quickly. After many hours of lectures, I appreciate her delivery without ums and uhs. BIO201 is way heavy on homework - forget about an A. Don't drag your GPA down.
The harder part of bio201 was LAB for me. It's a lot of information so don't fall behind. Take pictures of clicker questions because they are often test questions (aka show up to lectures). She gives you a lot of "filler points" like DB and syllabus quiz and connect assignments so the grade is basically tests and lab so make study groups!
DO NOT TAKE IF IT IS NOT A REQUIREMENT FOR YOUR MAJOR! The professor knows what she is talking about but the class overall is extremely hard. If you are not willing to put 20+ hours of studying in a week then you will not pass. LAB and lecture take the same amount of studying. Its like two separate classes. LAB is visual. Lecture is descriptive.
Dr. Washo-Krupps was a knowledgeable professor but there was A LOT of homework. Lecture is pretty straightforward (Exams are about 70-80 questions). Just study the notes carefully and you'll be fine. Lab, on the other hand, takes a lot more time and memorization. I got a 97, 71, 87, 86 on Exams 1-4 and a 80, 67, 97 on Practicals 1-3. Skipped final.
Hardest class I've ever taken but Dr. Washo-Krupps was very accessible and extra credit is available. Lecture exams are based on lecture content. Didn't read the book. Lab exams are based on lab terms lists. Spent 40 hours per week to maintain an A while working full time. Be ready to work hard.
I took this online. Her "lectures" are basically her reading powerpoints while inserting filler words to make it look like she isn't just reading power points. Everyone knows anatomy is a lot to memorize, so be prepared. She puts a ton of material on exam study guides but only uses a small amount. Not a hard class if you're great at memorization
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU DON'T NEED IT FOR YOUR MAJOR! This was the hardest class I've ever taken. I work full time outside of school and found myself studying at least 5+ hours every day just to maintain a B+. It's a lot of information in short period of time (Summer term). If you do take this class, DO NOT TAKE IT DURING THE SUMMER.
I was not given my accommodations for one of the test in this class. I didn't want to deal with it because I had a horrible time trying to appeal something on the first part of this class. If you have disabilities don't take this class.
awful class. This teacher has very unrealistic expectations of her students. I understand that online courses are a little more accelerated and require more time and work than regular courses but this class is the most difficult compared to any other online course I have taken. The amount of hw is heavy and tedious, exams are rough. AVOID
So bio 201 online is an accelerated class, but this was ridiculous. The class averages were always low, the study guides for the exam were loaded with information and very little of it was on the test. 30+ hoursa week. The labs are easy, but lecture exams 100 questions and really tough. If you need this class for your major TAKE ANOTHER PROFESSOR!
Extremely heavy workload! multiple assignments due every week 7-9, multiple videos, each assignment can contain anywhere from 50-150 questions. There is extra credit available through the readings that contain 75-160 questions. SUPER STRICT with exams... no notes, a lot of fill in the blanks (spelling must be accurate for points) AVOID IF POSSIBLE!
If you can avoid this professor, my advice would be to do so. The tests are ridiculous compared to the information that is given on the study guides, so there is no decent way to prepare for the exams. Spelling during fill-in questions in lab exams must be accurate and you are not allowed to have any notes either. on avg 30+ hrs/ week study time
The second half of anatomy is definitely easier on the lab side, but the lectures require you to attend since the entire lecture is a series of clicker questions, requiring you to review the material prior to class. Take pictures because these clicker questions usually are on the exams! Get a study group together for practicals and exams.
Super nice and super knowledgeable. The lecture part is tough, but is manageable. The lab, however, is awful. It's really hard and doesn't really line up with lecture. Lab should be a separate class.
The most mediocre professor. Goes on so many tangents and wastes so much time. Don't recommend at all. She basically just reads off the slides. Homework is really long and unhelpful as well. You'll do fine if you just read the slides but she makes this class really boring when it should be fun.
The most cookie-cutter professor Ive had at ASU. If youre in Barrett consider yourself lucky because she will give you tons of extra credit opportunities. If youre a normal student she really could not care less about you. Lab is extremely detailed and she literally just reads off the slides in lecture. You are forced to go for points tough.
This class is hard. The hardest class I have ever taken, but the professor is nice and knowledgeable. All these bad reviews must be unaware how intense anatomy classes can be. She helped me out when I had an issue during an exam and could not finish taking the test. I would say shes more than fair!
The class is difficult because the professor makes it difficult. 4 Lecture and 2 Lab exams. No notes are allowed. The lectures consist of instructor reading the powerpoint slides. If you want a decent grade and if you have little to no knowledge in anatomy/physiology, expect to work at least 30-35 hours a week for this class
BIO202 is set up differently from 201, because she uses active learning where you watch lecture videos at home and spend all class doing clicker questions and group assignments. The content is more interesting, but the class is tough, especially with the workload of lab, too. It's not impossible, but you'll really have to work for a good grade.
I took her for both BIO 201 and 202. You can miss about a month of class and still get all of the participation points. Connect assignments suck but they help your grade. Got an A in both classes without taking the optional final and getting a mix of C's, B's, and A's on exams. Lots of extra credit in lab and an extra credit survey in lecture
anatomy is tough but shes a fair prof! she offers ec and curved at the end. 4 tests, 1 final, a set of optional ws - lowest is dropped. lecture tests is mostly mc and few t/f. theres a lab with 3 practicals (mostly fill in the blank). other points from clicker questions for completion and online hw. start asap for hw since its long
Back after taking BIO202. Again, Dr. Washo-Krupps is very fair/knowledgeable and the class structure is similar to BIO201. Only difference is the active learning system which lets you skip class but participation points won't be factored into your grade. Exams were reasonable (study lecture slides) and labs were easier than BIO201 but TA-dependent!
Dr. Washo-Krupps is an extremely fair & understanding professor. To succeed in her course, I highly recommend doing the online homework as soon as she opens them (beginning of each unit). USE the rest of your time to study her notes! You will do well if you study/understand her lecture slides/notes inside-out (MEMORIZE some details if you have to)!
This is a difficult class, but if you put in the time and work it's do-able. She makes it really clear what you need to know for the exams, even though it is a lot of information. The lab is pretty difficult and completely separate from the class. There's a lot of practice so you can quiz yourself, but prepare to study a lot.
If I wanted to take this class online, I would've I signed up to take the online class and not have to come to class especially to make up for participation points. I did not pay my money to just watch her videos. She placed all her lectures online and expect us to learn from those even though this class is an in-person class.
BIO202 was a nightmare and frankly, a poorly constructed class. The "active learning" portion of the course was definitely a hindrance to a student's learning capability and the transition to the online course was unorganized and completely out of hand. Due dates are constantly being crammed and switched, which ruins the student's set schedule.
Apparently, this class also dictates the order in which you do your assignments, on top of setting a deadline. After the class was shifted online mid-semester, the instructors started to impose arbitrary dates on assignments and tests. This action hurt students who diligently completed their homework assignments before taking the practical.
This class was notorious in shifting due dates around all over the place without any prior warning (can happen literally hours before assignments/tests are due). After switching to the online version of the course, the instructors failed to provide important information about tests (ex. hid the fact that you cannot go back to check your answers)
Unfortunately, as a BIO201 student who previously left a good rating for this class, BIO202 was completely different and hopelessly organized. The transition to online in the middle of semester was handled improperly and due dates were constantly changed or moved around. Students who adhered to the class schedule were effectively screwed over.
This class had a ridiculous amount of unwarranted and sudden changes to the schedule that it was impossible to keep up with anything from homework to tests. Students who did their homework late were rewarded by the instructors while diligent students were disadvantaged on tests because they spent more time working through their homework problems.
She is a good professor. Anatomy is an extremely difficult subject. Definitely the hardest class ive ever taken. I studied more for the lab then I did for the lecture. I got a 79, 68,50 on her exams and still managed to pass, so can you! Study hard and get an anatomy coloring book. Also beware of the endocrine system, Exam 3 is the hardest.
I was nervous coming into BIO201 because Dr. Washo-Krupps had some pretty negative reviews and I had never taken anatomy before. The class is tough because there is a lot of material, but it's not her fault! She is excellent at lecturing and really knows her stuff. Put in the energy and learn how to study smart -- you got this!
For class, there are participation points that you earn by doing clicker questions and even if you are wrong, you get credit for answering. There are powerpoints that you fill in the blanks on and she even has online lecture videos uploaded so you really do not have to pay attention in class. She is very kind and understanding. Got an A in 201/202
She's a very nice professor and is willing to help students outside of class, so don't be afraid to reach out or go in for office hours. However, I feel that the majority of her class is taught through memorization, rather than understanding. That being said, you do learn a lot from her class, just not much on how to think about physiology.
I had Dr. Washo-Krupps for both BIO 201/202 as well as MIC 401. She was a fantastic professor and lecturer. This class handled the transition as best as possible when all classes switched online due to the pandemic. There were slight changes in the schedule but nothing that wasn't necessary or without warning. I highly recommend taking her class.
Attendance is not technically mandatory but you will miss out on valuable participation points. Dr. Washo-Krupps was a fantastic professor and you can really tell how much she cares about the success of each and every student. Its a hard class but totally manageable if you are willing to put the time in. Take this class!
Dr. Washo-Krupps is one of the best professors on campus. She is brilliant, kind, and always willing to help. This semester was strange, and she was very fair to students about due dates, exams, homework etc. She even pushed assignment due dates back to give us extra time after transitioning to online. Believe me, she is a fantastic instructor!
Although this class is content heavy its organized in a way that makes it manageable. Due to COVID19 we had some deadlines extended during the transition to online. This is the only time Ive heard of this professor moving deadlines & I have taken both BIO 201 & 202 with her. She is very approachable & offers many resources to help you succeed.
Think of the most uncaring and unsympathetic teacher you can think of, then take away the teaching part (cause she DOES NOT TEACH), add disrespect towards the students, unrealistic homework expectations, and multiply the worse aspects of it by 1000000. That is 1/2 of what this class and bully of a teacher is.
It's A&P, so there is a lot of memorization of structures & functions. Lots of lectures and lab lectures. I HIGHLY recommend a hardcopy book to have as you do the worksheets and extra credit (4pts/chapter). Print out the study guides and fill in as you follow along with lecture. Use the PRACTICAL QUIZ function in APR, repeat until you get it.
She is very thorough but too much information to learn for a online class. I would choose to take one of her classes again.
Her lectures are very clear and her lecture videos are great. Highly suggest printing her notes and reading them over and over again. She assigns way to much homework to the point it does not help you study so prepare to struggle bus it when it comes to HW. She was thinking of decreasing the amount of HW for future classes so fingers crossed.
If you go to class and participate, do your homework, study well then you will pass. She is fare and will speak with you and address your concerns.
The class was very informational. Exams are easy if you study and extra credit is given within each chapter. She was rude and had no mercy on anybody. If this class is taken online, you are being watched and proctored; one glance off the screen and you basically fail the class. I withdrew before she could call me out for academic misconduct.
Delon is extremely rude and refuses to help or aid students who are asking for help and says you guys need to figure it out on your own her lectures are her just asking questions the whole time and not explaining anything and her tests are mostly questions where 2-3 of the answers are right but its which one is more right which is difficult.
Dr. Washo-Krupps was always accessible- her grading was clearly laid out and is on a point system, meaning if you complete all of your assignments and are happy with your collected points you can skip tests or other assignments. You could literally pass the class skipping both finals. Her lectures were also great!
Over 300 questions per chapter for homework. Gives 2 points extra credit if you turn it in early. Lecture and hw questions are 100x easier than exam questions. Many of my classmates felt like we were preparing for the MCAT. Try not to cry yourself to sleep after every exam!<3 Clicker app used, but you don't need correct answers to get the points.
Delon was horrible. She piles on loads of work and homework and doesn't give any mercy. If you have problems she doesn't care and won't give you an extension no matter what. She's unprofessional and acts like she's on top of the world. Not understanding at all. AVOID THIS PROF AT ALL COSTS!
Tough love: most of these bad reviews are from people who weren't willing to work hard. It is hard, but she gives you every possible opportunity to improve your grade with weekly extra credit, tons of ways to earn points, & the exams DO NOT make or break your final grade. She is such a wonderful professor, knowledgable, organized, and reasonable.
Do not take this professor. I took this course as a summer online course and expected/prepared for the workload, but this was absolutely ridiculous. This is my first C that I have earned in 3 years. Professor is not helpful, is so strict, and gives an unreal amount of workload. Ex: Five 90 question assignments a week, minimum. Find a different prof
Her lectures are really interesting & I thought the course was well organized. This course does make you work for it simply because there is so much information to know/memorize for exams and plenty of notes/HW to get through. However, there were numerous extra credit assignments to help improve your grade and better prepare you for exams.
I'm a dtphx student (nursing) & I took her instead of Daydif for MIC205, SO GLAD I DID! To be successful: be prepared for lots of hw and get ahead, use a tablet + notability to write directly on lecture slides to save time bc time is money, do study guides, read textbook, do extra credit. Do all those things & this class is easier than you think
This course was hard but Washo-Krupps was a great professor! For her lectures she gives fill in the blank notes, so it's useful to go to class. She gives study guides before every tests and also creates discussion boards so she can answer your questions. The homework is Connect worksheets and if you do them early she gives extra credit.
She's very caring and always willing to help. There are lots of homework but it will boost your grade. Zoom Lecture recordings are available that most of the other MIC205 professors don't provide TIP: read the textbook, go to classes (clicker questions), do studyguides
For the online course, lectures are all prerecorded but are of good quality. Prof Washo-Krupps lectures are organized, easy-to-follow, and engaging. Watching and taking notes carefully helped me the most in this class. BIO 202 is really demanding but the class is laid out with clear expectations and fair grading. I would take another class w/her
Lectures were very long and filled with lots of information. Exams were not curved, although no one got 100%, the highest score was 94% for one exam. You never know what to expect on the exams. One lecture she didn't have the lecture slides posted so no one could fill in the blanks and she never posted them.. There was lots of extra credit tho.
She expected us to watch her lecture videos/take notes before each class, which I never did because it took forever. Clicker questions is basically all you do in class, but you can do them from your phone even if you aren't in class. Lab is the hardest part, thankfully I had a great lab TA though! 4 exams, no final. Have to put in the work! :)
Lecture is old curriculum with little thought to actual comprehension. Used over abundance of generic test bank questions, no delineation for major topics or key terms. None of the curriculum is consistent. The layout of the class is nonsensical, assigning a 100 question exam with 2/3 of the topics covered being a previous week's topics. Lazy prof
There are a lot of negative reviews on Dr. Krupps that I truly do not understand. I don't know everybody's personal situation, but this class was manageable. There are a lot of EC points awarded throughout the course. The muscle chapter was the most intense, but overall I learned a lot and I feel that Dr. Krupps was very accessible to me.
The class is hilarious, none of the reading material or learning topics matter. You read the entire chapter, usually three chapters per exam, and know every single detail, because the 100 question exams are random. Classwork unrelated to exams and there's no way to adequately study. Incredibly lazy class design, awful professor.
This class was less intense and slightly easier than BIO 201. Lectures are laid out in an easy to follow manner and exams directly mirror them + quizzes, homework, etc. Labs are a little chaotic and difficult/frustrating to study for (same in 201). Overall, not the worst thing I ever took, but not amazing either.
I am not so sure why people are giving her such bad reviews she was active on the discussion posts and got back to me with any questions or concerns that I had about my exams. This class is SUPER test-heavy but just go along with each video and do the study guides that she provides. The hardest part was the APR site that they use that was useless
This was the hardest class I have taken at ASU. Reading was 50-75 pages a week out of a textbook. There were lots of worksheets that were not difficult, just time consuming. There are 6 proctored exams. There is so much material and it is hard to know exactly what to study for. Do not take this class if you have not taken biology/chemistry before.
do not take this professor! she talks for over an hour straight not reviewing anything her exams are not from the notes and are EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. no curves. have to get a 94 to have an A. each homework assignment takes 4 hours plus to complete and each unit she has 9 due. she doesn't give any reviews for the test and is extremely unforgiving.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Course seemed very unorganized, unprepared, and non-forgiving. There is hardly any lecture for this course, and you're expected to teach yourself. There are mandatory participation points, but seem unreasonable to meet. She does not aid when preparing for exams, and you are left hanging dry for the concepts you need to know.
Lots of extra credit. The exams are long and strenuous with minimal time to study. Don't take this class until ASU makes it an entire semester rather than the 7.5 weeks.
this is a difficult class no doubt. it requires you to be able to apply knowledge and not just memorize. i would suggest taking notes on the textbook and lecture slides as the exams are similar to concepts on the exam. washo is more than willing to explain difficult concepts and what we need to know for the exam if you reach out. good luck!!
This class was a constant struggle. Yes there is a lot of information, but I feel like Washo-Krupps made cramming and memorizing necessary, I don't remember anything I learned. There was buffers in the grade book, though, which is nice, although tedious to do a 70 question worksheet and 10 question quiz every week on top of reading outside class.
This class has so much information and 200+ pages of lecture slides per exam. She told the class that "if you failed the first exam and practical you should drop my class". You watch the lecture videos at home and teach yourself before class. She requires an active learning due after every "lecture" which is really just clicker points. Good luck!!!
Do not take this class with her, there are 4 exams each around 70 questions. Tons of homework that genuinely takes a few hours if you are actually doing it. Doesn't drop anything, doesn't curve, lectures are long and confusing. Study guides haven't been helping. I am convinced she has set this class up so most people will fail
For those that have experience with McGraw Hill SB questions, imagine having to do 400+ SB questions within the span of 2 weeks. In addition, you'll be given three or four 10-question quizzes paired with 50+ worksheets. This is absurd - having to take 4+ hours every single day doing homework for one course. I literally have no life outside of class
Quite literally one of the worst classes I have ever taken at ASU. Also took her for mic 205 and wanted to die. So much hw. Very exam heavy. Class is made for people who have no life outside of school. 0 star rating if I could
Very hard class with little to no feedback. Grade solely depends on tests
She is sweet and fun to listen to. The homework is 3 40-60 question worksheets a month and you take the notes at home, which is 3-5 8-minute videos every lecture (on 1.5x speed). The lectures are only for clickers, which makes them a bit unnecessary. Low extra credit makes it a harder grade than BIO201-40% tests, 36% lab, 12% participation, 12% hw.
HORRIBLE!This class was really made for people who have no life outside of school. There are many students out there (like myself) who need to work full time and take care of family. There is just too much info to cram in 7 weeks and its not realistic. If your trying to get a really good grade for PA or MD school, don't attempt! Set up for failure.
I counted 68 assignments (+ 6 exams) in 7 weeks, which might not seem like much until you realize that they're supposed to take hours each. There is little time to study for each exam, and they don't really match the study lists. This class is extremely intense - it's best you don't take it if you have a job or other classes to deal with.
Nice lady. Brutal class set up and the exams never seem to correlate with the slides as much as you would expect.
i enjoyed krupps. online lecture videos outside of class and iclicker review in class. watch the lecture videos, fill in provided notes, do the connect worksheets and quizzes (all answers on quizlet), participate by getting iclicker points. exams are difficult but very doable. fill out study guides thoroughly + annotate, get A.
lots of hw that doesn't correlate to exam or lecture content well, but study guides are helpful. do the extra credit hw whenever possible to bump up your grade. the exams were really long but memorization heavy
This is a hard class but this instructor made everything so much easier to manage. Study materials that represented tests very well and lectures that covered plenty of the material. Made a scary course tolerable.
Don't take this class if you don't have background in science already. I know it says you don't need prerequisites , but you will fail if you don't know anything about medical terms, chemistry, etc. Also, there is just too much to do. You essentially will need to do the extra credit to pass. Don't expect an easy A or an A at all for that matter.
I selected tough grader because it should be noted that all exams are majority short answer questions like pointing out specific muscles and such... which is not easy within a month long course. take this class if you have no job or other classes.
I took this class over the summer as a condensed 7 week online class. This class is very hard, and you will not have much of a life outside of school (especially if you have a job). She does offer 61 points of extra credit, which is very generous. The assignments and exams were tough, but if you keep on top of it everyday you can succeed.
worst class worst professor. do not take this class or any other class with her for that matter. study guides do not match quizzes. one bad test grade will drop your whole percentage drastically
She is the most rude professor at ASU, and doesn't care about you. She said her time is not worth of answering my questions!!
Lectures are "active learning" style where you watch lecture videos on your own time and do clicker questions in class. SBs are not for extra credit but she does offer minimal extra credit for finishing assignments early. Lectures are not required but are helpful for the exams.
This class is not hard if you do your work. Keep up with the assignments - procrastinating will leave you struggling and you'll lose your chance for extra credit. Do the study guides for the exams - they are very reflective of the content that you will need to know.
The amount of work and studying for this class is insane, Krupps does not make the workload any easier as she offers no extra credit to account for any bad test scores you may have. If you take this course just be prepared for the workload.
Course is graded heavily on exams which are incredibly difficult. One bad test grade will drop your whole grade drastically. Class goes very quickly and concepts are very difficult to understand
Class is just clicker questions as you are expected to watch the lecture videos beforehand. SO much info given in each video. I found that I barely had time to study because all my time was spent catching up on the videos and doing the homework. Do not take MIC205 with her at the same time unless you want to be doing nonstop SBs and worksheets.
The class was interesting but there was lots of homework and SBs that consumed most of my time. She did offer extra credit at the end which was nice. Tests were long but not super difficult just make sure you study the slides and you should be fine.
This is by far the worst professor, My grandmother died the day of her funeral I had two exams she did not even care to extend or offer it. Shes inconsiderate, no compassion, she told me to withdraw the class THENi would be financially responsible still she didnt care. Shes AWFUL like my blood boils that a professor like this exists in the world.
Get another professor
202 is a hard class no matter who is teaching it because there is a tremendous amount of information to cover in a short period of time. This professor recorded ALL of the lectures for the class herself which is so nice. The tests are hard. But if you actually fill out the study guides and put in the time (30hrs+/wk) you will succeed.
exams are straightforward from the lectures. slightly more difficult than 201, but more interesting content. 7 exams in one semester for one class ended up making the semester very busy. lots of long hw that is pretty easy to get through, and participation points available out of lecture. ec available throughout the sem
The least accommodating/understanding professor I've had in all three years at ASU. Doesn't matter whether it's a personal or medical emergency, she won't help you at all but will encourage you to drop. Study guides never actually reflect what is on her exams and will not help you out at all. Avoid taking her class at all costs.
Absolutely horrible professor and person. Wish I listened to other reviews before taking a chance with her class. Least compassionate person you will ever come across at ASU.
OUT OF THE 83 ASSIGNMENTS SHE ASSIGNED IN 6 WEEKS, I NEVER MISSED A SINGLE ONE. Literally pls dont even bother taking this class for your own good. Take it somewhere else. Worst professor ive ever had in my life. the extra credit she offers is useless if you fail an exam because those ruin your grade. Whoever is on here rating her a 5 got paid. RUN
very heavy course load
LISTEN to all the other reviews! I took both B
avoid it during summer
Don't get me wrong, I like the way that her lectures are organized. Her full in the blank notes save a lot of time. Although, I am not happy with the fact that I told her I had to have an important surgery and told me straight up to withdrawal from the course.
Homework takes hours, its a waste of time, and has nothing to do with her exams. The study guides are helpful but thats about it. She doesnt curve and waits until the end of the semester to cap grades causing a huge drop for the people who actually did the work. Exams are almost 70 qs and extremely difficult. Her lectures are also confusing
she literally gave us a practical and a lecture exam in the same week so people have it the day after the other test or even on the same day. there is barely any extra credit and a lot of homework. good luck. shes the only prof in tempe. but you get a lot of resources to study but literally have to put in 20+ hours a week to study and do homework.
If you avoid online classes because you don't do well in them, avoid this class. Even though it's an in-person class, it's basically turned into an online class, with all of the lectures being online, and all of in person class time is used for clicker questions.
This professor is so nice, but the class is just insanely hard. The information in class does not prepare you for exams, and the study guides are so long yet don't tend to help much.
She drops the lowest grade on a quiz and worksheet. Grading is based on total points, not weighted averages, which means if you do any better than a 0 your overall grade will drop. So I found out 3 hours before the course closed that I had to take an "optional" exam because I lost 18 points and dropped a grade bracket on the last day of the class.
Had her for online, she doesn't answer emails but does in the group forum. She drops the lowest worksheet and quiz but for me, losing those points actually dropped my grade a few points. I would've preferred she just offered an extra credit opportunity of 10 points or so than the full drop of 20 points. Exams are hard, lots of homework and SBs.
Her lecture exams are super hard and the study guides don't really help because you don't know at all what's going to be on the exams. This class is an extremely difficult class and there is little to no help from the professor. I'd take this class at another institution because this professor is unreasonably difficult.
The class was a difficult start, but once you find the best method for studying (I reread the textbook and made quizzes on Quizlet. Lots of repetition!) the class is great! Reading the textbook is a must, because her lectures do not go into depth. They are more like summaries of the topics and you'll need more for exams.
This class ruined my gpa. There is a lot of information to be covered but the professors didn't make it any easier. The homework literally takes HOURS and still isn't helpful AT ALL for the exams. De Silva and Krupps taught this class alternatively and it was evenly bad with both. You need to memorize 40 or more slides each lecture to do good.
He voice gave me PTSD and she wasn't even there for the whole semester. Read off of slides and hw was painstakingly long but didn't even help. I had a 4.0 but not anymore. Her fake high pitched voice haunts me day and night. Both professors read DIRECTLY off the slides. Ochem was easier and more interesting than this class.
One of those HS teachers that say college is extremely hard and strict. She kept saying that for medschool but last I checked she didn't go to one. Everything about the way she structured the class felt like I was starting med school tomorrow. If you take her understand that she's the problem. You know it's bad when people with a 4.0 are getting Cs
A bad professor and a worse human being. She should be fired for how she makes this school look. Had to retake the course later after she told me to drop it & wouldn't accomodate my circumstance (not enough characters to explain but the other reviews say it all). Do the EC and you'll get an A, but better yet just take this class with someone else.
Do not take this professor her tests are not applied to the content taught and are out-of-the-box thinking questions. Class average was extremely low with the curve.
This class is extremely difficult. Many many assignments you must complete if you want more points towards your grade, some are very tedious and time consuming, not worth what you actually learn from them which isn't much. The tests often have a lot of out of the box thinking questions that don't pertain to what we study and learned in class.
Confused by the other ratings, I thought she explained concepts in an easy-to-understand, straightforward way. I would say this is one of the easier bio classes I have taken, and that there was a lot of room to get points. Study guides follow the lecture slides exactly and prepare you very well for the exams. You're fine if you've gotten this far.
Try to avoid her if possible. She mostly just reads directly from the PowerPoint slides, and it seems like she doesn't have a strong grasp of microbiology. As a result, her exam questions tend to be quite superficial. Also, be aware that she often cancels class at the last minute due to frequent illnesses.
this class is way harder than 201. she does a "flipped lecture class", so basically u have to watch hours of lecture videos then sit in class doing iclickers for an hour. the exam questions don't align well with the lectures. so just do ur best to get all the other points you can. expect much more study time than 201
I have taken A&P I & II with Dr. Washo-Krupps, and she is pretty great. These classes are very tough, and I was fortunate enough to be able to do them while only being a full-time student, because they require a lot of work. I found her lectures to be interesting and engaging, and I found her to be an understanding and reasonable professor.
Idk why everyone's exaggerating the class was actually good. The exams are not hard if you learn everything on the study guides, slides. She's supportive and has a lot of EC. Gives a lot of real life examples in class. You can choose if you wanna be graded by participation or not. There is homework for each chapter before exam. Lab's different tho.
man... THIS class was the death of me. She assigns WAYYYYY to much homework that I did prepare myself and did not take any other classes because she does warn you its A LOT... But its like you in order for you to pass this class you need to be glued to your computer. I think its a bit excessive. And her exams are extremely difficult.
Making me dislike a class in a subject that I enjoy is wild. Biggest issue: inconsistency and lying. She will literally say in lecture or announcements "in not going to ask you XYZ" then promptly asks XYZ on assignments. The extra credit is the only thing that makes sense and that's due to AI generated text book questions. Study guides: useless.
As someone with a severe case of ADHD, I knew from day one that I would fail this course. She is more concerned with students maybe committing academic integrity violations than she is with the course material. She tries to be such a hard a$$ for no reason - clearly someone who wanted to be a medical professional but had to settle for academia.
this class was extremely crazy be prepared for an exam every week and also 20 assignments due on top of that every Sunday ! I loved how she provided extra credit because that's what kept me from failing but other than that 6- week A&P class is not for the weak.
I took BIO 201 in a 6-week online summer session, it was intense but manageable. Weekly exams or lab practicals and time-consuming homework made it challenging. I appreciated the weekly extra credit, which helped a lot. I recommend completing homework and extra credit as soon as possible so you can use the week studying for the exams.
From day one of this 6-week course, I felt like this prof was rooting for us to fail. Be prepared to spend hours on homework assignments, often on topics you will be told not to study. Little consistency from lecture content to homework to quizzes/exams. More worried about the appearance of rigor than the quality/consistency of provided content.
Freshman. Loved the material, hated professor. Acts like she knows all, so should you. Felt like med school taught asleep. Gives study guides that don't align w/tests, says ignore things that are on them. Can't see incorrect test answers and must meet to go over or have no clue. Workload excessive. Had 4.13GPA prior to her BS so obvi I'm not dumb.
Heavy reading and homework material, study guides didn't always align with the exam, same as there were a couple times where she stated only these chapters will be on this exam, but there was questions from previous chapters not stated. The EC definitely saved me, I appreciate that. Overall not horrible, just a very big stickler on everything.
Worst professor I have ever had. I love biology and she made it unbearable. She never emailed me back, doesn't teach her own classes (mostly TA's and the ones she would do are from a million years ago), and she is very unforgiving. It is possible to have an A but be prepared to commit your entire life to this class. Wouldn't recommend.
This class was probably one of the most content heavy classes I've taken so far. There are a lot of assignments and the exams can diverge from the study guides provided. Draft a sample study schedule and try to start your content review as soon as you can. I usually would use quizlets and frequently reread and test myself on the lecture slides.
This professor expects you to reference a ton of information from 3-5 different study materials and I found her study guides to be very ineffective. I also spent way too much time on her obnoxiously long homework assignments instead of studying for her weekly exams. Do not take this class in the summer.
i would avoid her at all cost her study guides do not help prepare you at all for exams assignments took more of my time than anything else considering it was a 6 week summer class you would think she would help her students want to succeed but instead she warns you to drop the class if u can't eat sleep and breathe A&P 201 and 202 .
If you take her class, be prepared to do nothing else until it is over. If you do well on homework labs and quizzes, you may also fail the exams because they are unclear what to study for, have no real practice for, and are very intense.
Awful professor periodt. Never engaged with her online students in a productive way. Very discouraging by telling people to drop the class if they're not good enough. She does not care. Do not take this course if you cant dedicate your life to it one whole term
This professor does not really teach at all. Lectures are entirely just iClicker questions, where she briefly explains the topic after we do clickers on topics we haven't even learned yet. I had Professor Larson for BIO201 and she actually ran through slides and helped us learn material. This professor's class is essentially 95% self-learning.
Lots of extra credit saved my grade but her style of teaching is active learning which helped me actually understand the course content.
Do NOT take this class! save your GPA, she does not care about you as a student. If you have an emergency, she will tell you to drop her class. Worst class I have taken at ASU. If you can, AVOID it at all cost and go somewhere else for this course. I know this subject is hard but Trust me it will save you tears and frustration.
Prepare to make this class your #1 life priority! I didn't go to class and just did all the online assignments and self studied. Watch the lectures on repeat in the background. You will spend 20+hrs a week on this course. I suggest you focus on the SB assignments and do practice problems over prioritizing her in class lecture. Beware!
This professor isn't a terrible teacher or person. I disliked her exam questions, because it didn't line up with the slides. She also gave us an exam featuring an entire unit she didn't teach to us. Exam averages were 60s, but doable if you study. Class if very time consuming, and not much EC, grade is 80% exams.
The class is a flipped class were you watch all of the lectures outside of class and then do iclickers in class. She has a weird grading scale that allows students to decide which categories of work they want to do. Overall I liked her but sometimes the tests were not exactly what she taught about.
