She's tough cuz she wont let you BS your way through. So be prepared!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, she does grade hard on her tests. She speaks very LOUD! But for some reason it stuck in my head and I got an "A". Definitely not an easy class.

Great teacher if you want to learn. Don't expect to fly by without paying attention and doing the homework. Def. a teacher that allows you to get the same out of her class as you put in.

She is really hard, and doesn't give a lot of people time to finish tests. She gets all up in your business like checking if you did the homework before it's even due. She gets mad if you don't spend $$ on a tutor or on study guides.

She was the best professor I ever had. I didn't do very good in her exams because I hate math, and I still got a B just because I tried my best. Very easy and I would taker again anytime.

I don't understand why Ms. Owens has such a low rating. She is an exceptional professor and teaches at a pace for anyone to understand. She is very methodical and is always willing to help. If you want to learn math and understand it I highly recommend taking her class.

Professor Owens is a *real* professor, not the watered-down garden variety most students are accustomed to. She's a true expert in her field who works dilligently to ensure her students succeed. You'll leave class well prepared, with intimate knowledge of all concepts. Very engaging course - SMC desperately needs professors of her caliber! A+

I don't know what everyone is talking about. This is an amazing professor. She really make sure that everyone in the class understands the material. All you have to do is make sure you stay on top of your assignments, as a college student should, and you'll do fine. I absolutly reccommend this professor.

"Never in Life" Dont hate cause you never took the time to read, or learn the pre-requisites. She is a real students teacher. She teaches by the book and expects her college students to be prepared. College student shouldn't be or act like children. Ms. Owens is great. However if you dont take school or studying seriously, then shes not for you.

Miss Owens is a great teacher, especially for mathematics. She is like an ivy league teacher that teaches at a college level. It community college so of course some of students that barely got by in high school or havent been in school for 2 years or more going to say she is extremeley hard.. people just need to grow up.

i think owens is pretty good professor. she's kind and helpful.although her style is not really acceptable, later u will like it. for me, because i am a math person,so i think it's too easy for me.btw, she will give us lots of extra credits to help us to pass the class.

She is a very difficult teacher but as long as you dedicate time to going over the book and doing all of the homwork it's not that bad. This class is not for you if you know that you can't apply yourself. In that case don't even try. It's difficult put it's possible to pass it.

She's a no-nonsense professor, and extremely thorough when explaining the material. Doesn't appreciate people chit-chatting in class, and lets you know it. I found her to be a great professor, and will likely take her again for a different math class. She teaches in a pretty fool-proof way.

Let me first say that math is my most difficult subject. I struggle more than most do. This professor has actually taught me ways to work out problems that make it so very simple for me. After reading these comments and attending the first class with her I was terrified but I'm now realizing that she's a great teacher- which is what matters most.

Math has always been difficult for me. She explains everything so thoroughly, i am so thankful for her. I worked real hard, studying everyday for this class. I failed a test once and almost cried on my way to the car. But don't give up. She's stern but the best math teacher you'll have, truly. <3

I don't know why people complain about Owens. Shes an amazing teacher, and helped me so much with math. I even was absent for a test and she gave me 100% cause i was doing well. All you need to do is do the homework and pay attention to her lectures, you wont even have to study and youll get an A. If your not going to slack off, take her class!

She's very clear and thorough in her work. Explains everything in the simplest terms possible and shows her work for every little thing she does. I still refer to some of her notes since my Math 31 teacher isn't clear or thorough. Don't take her if you can't handle someone talking loud and saying "You learned this in X Grade!" every now and then.

Professor Owens may have been a great teacher at one time, but this is no longer the case. She does know her math, I will give her that! She has been teaching since 1967, you do the math! She promises one thing,then she tells you that she forgot, she tells you to email her but she does not check her email, she does not post her grades on time.

Very hard on students,or rather than motivating you she discourages your existence ha. If you have the patience then take her, very knowledgeable, strict on grading, it's either her way or the doors way...

Ms. Owens class takes a bit of getting used to but she cares about her students success. You will not get anything handed to you so don't take this class if you aren't prepared to work hard or you will get left in the dust. This being said if your a serious student she absolutely prepares you well for pre-calc. Overall I would definitely recommend.

Yeah, agree with the fact that she talk about nothing a lot, BUT whatever she give during the class she will give you during the test. Get ready to do homework! A LOT OF HOMEWORK, but it worth your time, otherwise why are you in school? ALSO SHE GIVE EXTRA POINTS, which also helps to get desirable grade. Take notes and read it.

One of the best professors. yes she reminds you constantly that you are in remediation but on the bright side she teaches exactly what you have to learn. She covered almost the whole book with alot of clarity and she even made some concepts easier to understand using her methods

I really like Prof Owens. She says herself she's old school. I'm ok with that. If you learn her methods it will help in the long run. I'm in Stats now & her habits have helped me a lot. If you work hard you'll be fine. And don't disrespect her. You shouldn't anyway. She goes off on tangents but honestly a lot of times she's right w/ what she says.

Anyone complaining clearly doesn't understand how the real world works. Ms. Owens prepares you for it. If you have trouble with her Math class, good luck in the future. She was a tremendous help. I was out of school for 7 years, and I still got a high A in the class. Lots of homework, but it's there to help you. Tests are hard, BETTER STUDY!
