Class was great! The instructor was clear and informal about the class.
He really cared about his students success but you do have to put in the work. He's very smart & knows his stuff. He was clear with his lectures & what was going to be tested. I do recommend reading the chapters and using SmartBook. He mentioned how important SmartBook was & IT WAS! It helped me tremendously on the exams. Make time for this class!
I'm going to make the review simple Smartbook Assignments: does not contribute toward grade or tests (even though he stresses it) Lecture: He emphasizes some concepts from his slides that "these are going to be on the test" when hardly any of them do Tests: These are not your common canvas tests, be prepared to study. There is no reviews
I was worried about taking his class because he only had 2 reviews on here at the time, but now I am so glad I did. Take notes, show up to EVERY lecture, do your smartbooks, and there's no reason you should fail him. He can be lenient if he sees effort. Very, VERY smart and very respectable. Funny at the right times, too! 10/10 would take again.
If you really want to learn take him! He is very knowledgeable and is willing to answer any question. You have to work for your grade just like any class. Do the smartbooks!
The only truthful rating is the one below 4, honestly
Never dreaded coming to his class, definitely a 10/10 teaching style. Definitely do the Smartbooks in your free time although they are time consuming they proved to be super duper helpful. Very organized and clear during lectures ^-^ STUDY STUDY SCHOOL IS YOUR BUDDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AVOID
To reply to the ignorant 3.0 review as my input: He says that smartbooks aren't graded from the beginning. They're just to help you. The emphasized points are on the tests, just from a clinical POV or in broader segments. Last, why do y'all expect TEST REVIEWS in COLLEGE? Anyways, 10/10 teaching style, would definitely take again.
Knows A&P really well. Con is he will say something will/won't be on a test but then it won't/will. Provides plenty of opportunities to help such as dropping lowest connect/VB quizzes & lecture exam. Even replaces 2nd lowest exam with final exam grade if it's higher Do the smartbooks, look at APR, and read the textbook. Best way to get an A!
What is said to be on the test is not always accurate with what is presented. Do not lack on the Smartbooks they are a great help in receiving a passing grade but it can become overwhelming, being that each Smartbook can range from 200-400 questions and the lecture exam itself is only 60 questions. Hard class but passable.
Good professor. He seems difficult at first but he helps out a lot in the end. Test can be difficult but if you know the material you will do just fine.
Interesting lectures, knows what he is talking about. Complete the smartbooks like everyone else is saying. He is there to help if you need it. Hard class but if you do the work you can make a good grade
The class is hard because its pretty demanding make sure you read do the smartbooks and look at apr they are very helpful. He adds a lot of clinical situations to understand the material in the real world. He places emphasis on subjects that will be tested heavy on exams. He is very helpful and responds to emails quickly.
If you work and go to school, this class can be a little tough. He is very fast pace so be preparred always. Try and make as much time for this class because it can get a little stressful. Smartbook assignments take 4EVER to complete but at least get a few questions done. His exam reviews aren't ur typical review. He just lyk what's on the test.
He is a great professor. He is organized and clear. His lectures are fast. Read the chapters before your lectures.
He is an amazing professor and I highly recommend him. He would lecture/ go over what will be on the lecture exam and lab exam he is very direct and would tell you what he would like you to pay more attention to. Overall I would take his class again to get a high grade.
He is very knowledge about this subject; it's reassuring whenever I have questions about the material. His lectures are very fast paced, so be sure to read over the material and his slides before the class. I love how he points throughout the lecture what is definitely on the exams for lecture and lab. Reviews are nice but there isn't a guideline.
He is very lecture heavy, but he is very helpful and as long as you show up to class and cover the material you should get a good grade. He is very helpful when you need clarification in a topic
amazing
Be ready to study study study. Professor is great, he does tend to side track in the lectures but overall he is very smart. I would say be prepared to catch up on his very fast lectures. Besides that he is pretty chill and understanding.
A&p2 is a hard class in general, there is a lot of information covered in a small amount of time. Tyler is a great prof, he makes a lot of clinical refrences and usually brings humor to the class. Doing the smart books will help you even though they are super long. He's a nice guy and he's willing to work with you.
Great professor but lectures are fast paced since there is a lot of material to cover. So review chapter before lecture so you won't be behind. Be prepared to study a lot for exams if you want an A. AND DO THE SMARTBOOKS! Other than that he was super helpful and if you put the work in you will be fine.
Excellent professor. A lot of reviews mention that he is fast paced which is true, but not so fast you can't keep up if you read the chapters ahead of time (which is how the class is set up). He also offers plenty of opportunities to ask questions and will go back to something and repeat it if you need. Overall, I thought he was great.
He was an entertaining and easy professor. He gives you all the materials you need to succeed, and I recommend taking his class.
this is a hard class in general but if you read your lecture notes and do the smart books, you are able to pass this class! he gives you everything you need to do well on your exams. make sure to use the science learning center to study for lab exams.
if you are good at teaching yourself take this class. lots of helpful resources online, but the lecture itself isn't very helpful. His slides seem to be the textbook copied and pasted, he reads off the slides in class. no exam review. he drops an exam and lets you replace an additional exam with the final. it's a doable class if you apply yourself
I think he was a great, thorough professor. He explains the chapters very well and if you study you will do well. His exams are very straight forward and not difficult if you actually take time to study. He gives very helpful reviews that set you up for success! I will (hopefully) be finishing his class with a 100 and I am so glad I had him!!
You need to read the material before lecture. Ideally, take notes ahead of time as well. If you don't, you'll be fine, but it's a lot better if you do. I also recommend recording the lectures. Someone told me he was really tough before I took the class, but that was not my experience. Don't be a slacker and you'll be alright.
Be ready to read a lot! Talks fast but you get use to it. Go to class because he doesn't have lectures recorded so you'll miss out on a lot. Provides questions and answers for a handful of questions on the exam and requires respondus lockdown browser, so no study/lecture guides. Lab is self guided/taught but he is always available to help.
Great proffesor, answers any questions you might be confused on, and gives gives good feedback.
I enjoyed taking this class, he is a Great professor. The smartbooks are worth the extra time when studying. Great attitude and interesting lectures.
I think if you are a good learner independently, he's a good professor to take. Class time is spent reading PowerPoints so if you want to do well, you have to spend lots of time on this course outside of class. Hes very good at asking questions, and gives lots of opportunity for success and growth!
I would recommend this professor for AP2. He gives you what you need to know, but there is no study guide for the lecture exams, so be prepared, do all the smartbooks, and read the book. He gives good, useful feedback and will help you if you need any help. lectures aren't boring they are interesting. His exams are based on Smartbook and powerpoint
Excellent Professor I recommend taking this professor. Make sure to do the Smartbooks! that will be your study guide for your exams. ask questions if you don't understand something.
Doing the smartbook even though they are not graded, will help to study for the exam. Visible body quizzes, practice quizzes and APR helped with the lab exam.
While his class may not be easy, that's normal for an A&P2 course, he really made me enjoy this class! Professor De-Melo was always ready to teach and get things going. His tests are not easy, but with using Smartbook for lecture exams and APR for lab exams, you will do just fine :D
Overall a good course. He is very straightforward in what he expects and what he will test on. Lecture attendence is very important. As long as you attend lecture and pay attention you will have a good idea of what will be on the lecture exams. I appreciated that there isn't a lot of extra homework.
Mr. Demelo is a great teacher, he is very interactive with his students and is always willing to answer questions. His lectures go by very fast though, so be prepared to take notes and read ahead in order to stay on top of things. AP2 is still a super hard class though. Be prepared to study for this class at least 8 hours a week in order to pass.
His lectures are long and information-packed. He makes the material relatable to real life, which is helpful. In the lab, the packages that he is provided with are structured weirdly, but he offers other helpful resources. Would probably take a class with him again... maybe just not a night class because so much information kept me up at night
very straightforward and lecture exams go based off the powerpoints and studybook assignment. As well gives out freebie questions when it comes down to the lecture exams. He is literally setting you up to pass the class and if some how you mange to fail its mostly on you and/or how you prepared for the exams.
Rated a 4 on hard just because this class is a hard class. He always makes sure you understand the material and uses lots of "in other words" to help you get the material. Study, study, read, read. Lots of outside work needs to be done to do good in the class. Would definitely recommend and retake. Really enjoyed the class and learned a lot!
He is very knowledgeable and you can tell he is really passionate about what he's teaching. Make sure to do the smartbooks if you want to get a full understanding of the topics you go over in the class. Turn in all the assignments and use the time offered in lab and lecture and he'll always be willing to help you understand anything you need.
He's a great professor. You need to read the material and ideally take notes before the lecture. You don't have to, but it's a lot better if you do. He's fair, but he's not going to coddle you. Also highly recommend doing the smartbooks. I also recommend recording the lectures and listening to them later. He's super smart and fair. 10/10 in my book
Read the chapters prior to class and he will fill in the blanks for information you don't grasp on your own. Do the smart book assignments, they are long but they help. Do the chapter quizzes and lab quizzes as they really can make the difference in your grade.
Very good professor. Lectures are enjoyable and interactive. Course work is easy and study resources are available for use. You are set up to succeed throughout the course. I managed to do extremely good by just watching science videos and asking questions hehe :3
Prof. Tyler DeMelo-Cevallos lectures from presentation slides. He's funny and keeps you interested. He does let you know what to expect on exams. Always willing to answer any questions.Chapter/Visible body weekly quizzes, lots of reading/studying, do the smartbook questions!!!! He is generous to review some test questions in class before exams.
I enjoyed this class very much; professor was professional and helpful and kept lecture interesting. I liked his teaching style, and I was able to understand the material. Professor provides resources and help to make sure we are successful. He is very clear on what to expect on exams. Overall, really enjoyed this class.
The class is tough, but he helps you understand everything. Complete your smartbooks, starting early and revisiting each chapter until you score at least 90%. Take notes and pay attention to his hints for exams. After each exam, note the topics covered as they may reappear on the final.
This teacher is extremely tough, labs are easy, but he rushes so fast through the lecture you will not understand anything. Overall hard class. He does give some exam reviews BUT says that only 15 questions out of the 30 reviewed are going to be on the actual exam which defeats the whole purpose of a review. Also curses during lectures, unprofessional
Don't wait till last minute to sign up! Great professor and easy to understand
Do the smart books.
he is amazing professor! take him if you can, he will do anything he can to help you pass the class
If you do smart books you will pass !
Professor is very approachable and helpful. Anatomy itself is tough but if you expert effort it will get you to the grade you need. Do smartbooks and his PowerPoints. For labs use the APR. It helped me big time scoring well for the exam. It takes a lot of effort and the fruit of your work will show.
professor will let you know what to study throughout the chapters, for lab exams he will also tell you what to study for. be ready to study, if you are taking more than 2 classes, class will be difficult to study. you need 10+ hours to study per week. if you take the time to study and read you will do great in his class. VB will be your BF.
Professor Cevallos provided a solid overview of the course material and ensured we stayed on track with the syllabus. The lectures were straightforward. Overall, the class was well-structured and fair, and I appreciated the effort put into keeping everything organized.
During this class you 100% need to devote a lot of time to studying or you will barely pass or potentially fail. You will have to be prepared to go back because you will take a test on something you learned 4 chapters ago due to the way the school has the course set up. I highly recommend completing the smart books. He pulls questions from them!
Great professor! Definitely make sure you prioritize studying for the lecture exams and work on the smart book assignments prior to exams, they are super helpful!
this class over all is tough, but if you're willing to do work then go for it! he pushes us to do the smartbooks, which help a lot!! read the book in depth use other sources like APR, visible body and YT.
Expectations are very clear, he will emphasize important details. Do your smart books!! Preferably before lecture so when he goes over the chapter you're ready with questions.
Prof DeMelo-Cevallos is awesome! Super nice guy and obviously loves what he does. He is very clear about what he requires and what will be on the exam. He is extremely fair with his class and no time is wasted. If you follow his instruction, read the chapters, and complete all assignments you will be successful in this course.
Professor Cevallos is an excellent instructor whose lectures are both informative and engaging. He has a clear and straightforward teaching style that makes complex biology topics easier to understand. He explains the material in a way that truly helps you retain the information, and he consistently keeps students focused and motivated.
Lecture exams are very tough, heavy on smart book assignments. Lab exams are heavy on tissues. But overall not too bad.
Professor Demelo-Cevallos was a great professor. He is very intelligent and does a great job at keeping his lectures engaging. This class was very difficult and required a lot of work, however, he gives you many chances to keep a good grade. If you're willing to put in the work, you will be just fine in this class.
Very lecture heavy even on lab exams and requires a lot of studying!! Smartbooks do help but they are very long (around 5 hours long depending on chapter) and it can be hard to retain all the info for exams. Highly suggest going to lecture bc a lot of info is provided. Professor talks very fast so make sure you pay attention!!!
Professor Demelo gives you all of the tools needed to pass the class. You definitely need to do a good amount of studying, however, it is very easy to pass his class and he doesn't try to confuse you with his wording on his exams. Overall, easy to understand and a great professor!
Fun professor to have. There's not really a review to go off of for exams but just go through his powerpoints, if you need clarification on further things I usually just went into the textbook, even if it may not seem that important to know. He gives a lot of opportunities for grade improvement, if possible I plan to take him for both A&P I and II.
The class itself is very hard, He was a decent professor but he could have been more engaging. For lecture class he was great but in lab he just told us what to do and that was it. Not sure if I would take him again. This is a 100% honest review. Took this class because of the good reviews but not all of them are legit....
HORRIBLEEE class I'm not sure why he has good ratings. He rushed through the lectures and expected everyone to understand everything. When asked about exam reviews he said to basically go through all the power points and pray for the best (50-70 slides). Not very helpful very arrogant. I would not recommend if you need this to get into nursing.
Made it difficult to keep up went through 80 to 90 slides quickly. Doesn't pause long enough for students to understand material. Moved on before we could grasp what was being taught on slides. He should consider adjusting his lecture speed. As well as engaging more with students and asking questions so that the material can be understood better
Labs were not bad, but all he does is sit in his chair and is on his phone the entire time wish he could engage more and go over materials that we would see in lab exams.
DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE GOOD RATINGS!! This was my first the first time I ever withdrew from a class. He is not very good with his lectures he goes thru it so FAST and expects you to grasp everything in seconds. He even added that he was not going to "baby" us With reviews bc nursing school wont be like that. SAVE YOURSELF, DONT take this class!!
This professor is definitely there for just a check doesn't care for the students at all!!! I took it because of the good reviews and now I'm going to have to retake it in the fall SMH
Chose him because of the good reviews, and turns out it's because he gives extra credit for it! All he did in lab was sit in his chair. He wants you to show up, but doesn't even put in the effort to teach properly. Do not take him, most of my classmates failed his class, and now we have to retake it . Extra credit if you get a 100 on lab exam.
He is an amazing instructor and makes lectures very enjoyable. He explains everything in detail so we can understand. I recommend everyone to take his class!
Learned a lot from him, he is extremely knowledgeable about Anatomy. You can tell his is passionate about his job, he isn't here just for a check like other professors. Gives you an opportunity to pass the class.
This class was very hard, however he is one of the only professor at TCC that give multiple choice questions for Lab Exams! It's a very very hard class, not only because of the content, but also he does not give reviews. However, for labs if you utilize APR he uses the exact same photos and I did wayyyyy better in lab because of using APR.
Prof was nice. He is passionate about teaching + knowledgeable. Only complaint is he didn't stop the same student answering. One classmate answered every time fast. I didn't get to try + think. He takes the course seriously, but tries to be lighthearted w/ it. Does not offer study reviews BUT HE DOES give you the answers to several questions! 8/10
Great prof very knowledgable& passionate about the subject. He doesn't give reviews for test but does give you some test questions w/the answers and puts a few extra question so you are able to miss a few questions and still make a 100 on the test. Class is pretty hard& has A LOT of info at one time but if you put the work in you should pass. 9/10
The lectures were interesting and informative, with some occasional humor to keep us engaged. There is a lot of material to get through so some topics don't get covered as extensively. I thought he did well to explain the most important and tougher topics of the class. He offers a few review questions for tests and some extra credit as well.
DeMelo-Cevallos is an incredible instructor! You can tell how much he cares about this subject, and he really wants you as a student to succeed. It is not an easy class, but he gives you so many resources to help you study. Highly recommend taking him!
I enjoy his class because he does thoroughly explain topics, especially when questions are asked. This lecture class is very content heavy so you have to be prepared to listen & take notes. I appreciate the opportunities that are given for extra points/extra credit. I definitely recommend this professor!
Tyler is a great professor, he just teaches a very hard class. There is lots of content to memorize and it has often been very overwhelming. I like that he gives opportunity for extra credit and also our lowest exam grade gets dropped.
Great professor, this class was tough but Mr.Cevallos made it more understandable. He really shows how much he cares for his students. He explains our topics very clearly and he's one of the smartest people ever. He knows almost everything, every question that we had he would have the perfect answer plus more additional information. Take his class!
Very knowledgeable!
The professor was cool, not very lenient with making up work or exams but reasonable with grading. He gives lots of opportunity to do well in class, but you have to do the work on your end. He talks so fast in lecture so make sure to brush up on the material before class.
Very knowledgeable and clearly knows the subject well. Lectures are detailed, but exams are extremely difficult and much harder than expected. I studied a lot and still wasn't able to earn an A on any lecture exam. Be prepared to put in a lot of time and effort
