This Prof. is nice, but i wouldnt say that he is very clear, he gave us a midterm which i think was prety hard, but overall he is kind, not a very easy nor very hard.. average
This professor is flat out horrible. His teaching ability is very questionable at best and his assignments are confusing at times. Overall, I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS PROFESSOR TO ANYONE. BTW if you do take his class don't get fooled when he proclaims himself a lenient grader in the beginning of the semester.
Please do yourself a favor and don't take this professors classes. He is not clear in his explanations, and he takes the long way around when trying to get a point across. Granted he is a nice guy and you don't need the book, but his poor teaching abilities more than outweigh his good qualities.
Don't take this class . His test are really hard. His a hard grader. You do so much work and in the end it's not worth it. I got a B in this class, but with all the work I invested n this class he should of gave me a A. Tough grader
OMG!! he's the WOST prof. teaching Psychology in JJAY!!! he doesn't know what he's doing, almost all his students get D's and F's because he's an extremely tough grader who thinks he's always right!, he gives 3 exams, a lot of research questions to do, a presentation and attendance is mandatory! so good luck.
i like everybody....and he is a nice guy and i did well in the class but i wouldn't recommend this professor . the workload was extremely heavy for a 200 level course and he is a tough grader...if u still choose to take him make sure u answer all the questions and assignments with "specific details" .
Well he is a tough grader. But if you do the work you should be alright.
This professor is a hard grader the book you don't use as much. All his test come straight from the power points. Make sure you print out the power points and take detailed notes and you can pass. Not a great grade but you learn Social Psychology. If you ask for help, his there.
Dr. Glasford is hard, yes, but that's because he expects his students to be able to perform at a college level. He is also preparing you for grad school. If you are looking to breeze through college without learning anything or any work, do not take him. The information he teaches is highly interesting and useful in everyday life.
I had a great course with Dr. Glasford. He knew his stuff and encouraged thorough, independent thinking. A good professor for serious students.
Great Prof. He was difficult and i do recommend not missing a class but, he was very clear and always available and willing to help. I would take this prof. again, his class is fun and you learn a lot.
I like his way of lecturing and use of powerpoints, but his exams and papers are very hard.
DONT TAKE HIM...HE REQUIRES TOO MANY ASSIGNMENTS FOR A 200 LEVEL CLASS. HIS POWERPOINT ARE HELPFUL BUT HE LEAVE ALOT OF THINGS OUT TO MAKE YOU ATTEND CLASS. HIS EXAMS ARE NO JOKE IF ONLY MQ THEN IT WOULD BE GREAT BUT HE WANT YOU TO DO SHORT ANSWER QUESTIONS THAT WAY TOO MUCH TO REMEMBER.IF YOU NOT WILLING TO ONLY FOCUS ON THIS CLASS THEN DONT TAKE
I was taking 5 classes when i took his class and working 6 days a week he covers a lot of work and he is a tough grader on the essays. But just follow the instructions super carefully and make it to all his classes with the power points printed out and you'll do fine. I had fun in this class and I feel like i improved as a student and a person.
I thought he was a great teacher . He is an easy grader as long as you follow all the directions which he clearly states on each of them. He helps you understand all the concepts and the power points are extremely useful for the exams.
definitely need to print slides and ask ques regarding concepts that you dont understand
Cool guy. His assignments are pointless, you don't learn anything useful from doing them. He's a fair grader and gives two great extra credit assignments for those who feel they need it. His tests are manageable, just study. He doesn't curve. His lectures are pretty interesting as well.
I just had him for social psych....not only is he super handsome he knows and loves what he is talking about...highly recommended
Very funny, helpful,
He is extremely funny and very easy going but his exams are very long that its hard to finish them without leaving questions unanswered.
oh man well hes good at teaching no doubt about that. You have to attend class! the writing assignments are pointless in my opinion. You HAVE TO STUDY for the exams! make sure you pay attention which isnt hard cuz hes funny and engaging. Pay attention study and you should do well.
HE'S AWESOME! really good teacher, hard, yes but thats because he expects his students to follow directions and do things right! study, focus in his class and pay attention on the test you'll be fine ! btw he's really nice & helpful =]
His exams are soooooo long! And what was the point of writing those papers? Overall the class had a good atmosphere, he played clips that were funny during his lectures and was always nice.
Awesome !! He is just awesome!!! :) great professor .,
this prof. cares about his student and is very clear during lectures, however, his exams are ridiculously difficult!
Very funny guy. The class is actually easy if you take the time to study and also ask questions. He is an EXTREMELY helpful person, so he will try to help the very best he can. However, his tests are intensive and if you slack you won't get back on track. So study and don't procrastinate!
This class was really enjoyable BUT the tests were a challenge. You need to be on your A-game from the start. This professor played NO games and made sure we learned the material. He has a great sense of humor as well. I received a "C" in the class but that's due to my lack of taking the class seriously. Overall, great class!
very clear & helpful which makes it easy to understand, however, his exams were very long & difficult so you have to read the chapters!
Very funny, lots of videos. Tests are long, but easy. 80% slides 20% textbook. Didn't read, got ^80. Print slides or have them with you because he omits underlined (the things for the test) online. His 2 papers are hard, so go see him about them to stay on track. No homework. Passes attendance sheet.
Very interesting professor with a great sense of humor. Looked forward to every class. However, very challenging exams and those papers were difficult. He isn't lenient with grading but the reward is you get to really learn a lot from him. He knows his stuff and gives through examples. Recommended.
If you want a prof. that has his TAs do the grading and show youtube vids as class lectures, please by all means take him. I'm pretty sure he's a nice person, but dont get that mixed with a good prof. Tests:45MC & 8short ans. Papers were also redundant and harshly graded by TAs.Some say he's funny but you wont be laughing when you get your grade.
very funny and informative. i took his class with 250 other students, which kind of blew, i definitely think he has more to offer in a smaller setting. tests were weirdly hard for how straightforward he is about the material. would definitely take him again, i loved being in class!
He's incredible, not only is he an awesome professor, he's willing to go above and beyond for his students. his tests are interestingly formatted and he's not kidding when he lectures that first day!
I loved this class & the professor. He really wants his students to succeed and provides all the tools they need in order to do so. The questions on the exams will require you to THINK and make connections, rather than parrot back the information on the slides. If you find this requirement insulting, you shouldn't take his class.
Dr. Glasford is hilarious. I enjoyed going to his class. Powerpoints are easy to understand. Exams on the other hand: DIFFICULT! He drops the lowest grade though. One paper for my class. He shows alot of clips to explain the material. STUDY THE UNDERLINED MATERIALS HARD!!!
This class was really difficult. His exams are tough, you have to know concepts+examples. TAs are tough graders on paper. Slides were not in order and became confusing when 40% of the info is missing and you have to try and speed-type. Be in class and study hard or you're screwed
if you do your work and readings youll be fine. such an easy class. write down all his examples so that you understand the terms better. do papers early to have ta review them. got a 95 on mine because i did just that. seriously not as bad as a class as everyone else says.
I absolutely love Dr. Glasford. He makes you work for your grade - but he makes class fun and engaging. (Not to mention he's easy on the eyes ;) ) Also, he is understanding if you approach him with an issue and does his best to help you. What he wants for the paper is clear and concise and he is always willing to help. Amazing professor.
Great class, you have to go every day since most slides arent complete and you have to complete it in class. His slides have much information, he has many videos and engages with his students and has some pretty funny jokes. Tests are LONG! soo study everything. He drops the lowest grade Overall, very good professor && very cutee, in a nerdy way ;)
He is so handsome and his lectures are beyond amazing. He provides many examples to further explain his presentation slides including funny, relevant video clips. His tests are considered hard but if you ask questions, read the material from the textbook, and pay attention in class, then you should receive a good grade.
TAs grade the one paper you have, but they are very tedious (WAY too much for a 200 level class, it's actually quite stressful). The class itself is easy but only if you attend every class. It definitely is a lot of work, no question.
He is AWESOME! the class was never boring he keeps you interested and makes the lecture relate to real life so you remember. The exams are challenging but easy if u study a week before. Take him!
YOU HAVE TO STUDY FOR HIS EXAMS. Rewrite type up the slides (go to class since some slides have missing vocab), a different color for each unit bold vocab use acronyms or little sayings to remember concepts with steps (always in the short answer part of the exam). ALSO--he is beyond hilarious, but up close ehhh he doesn't look so nice.
His teaching style is terrible, he speaks really fast and moves with slides quickly, he gives 4 exam that are tough and long so u have to rush, ten page paper is also given but is fairly easy, I do not recommend him if you are not ready to study long hours. Last point he is definitely funny but this will not help you study or pass.
The first week of class he tells you that without studying the underlined notes - you will NOT pass! And he is right! Throughout his slides he bolds and underlines specific wordsideas.. I made flashcards of these and did great on tests. He is very funny and has memorable lectures. I love this professor. No homework and a fun final paper!
The good - He's funny. Now the bad- The exams are extremely hard and the TAs are told to grade harshly which means you are getting lower points if your response is not exactly as it is on the power points. So unfair. A long term paper, 3 exams and a CUMULATIVE FINAL which is ridiculous. Psych is hard as it is, a cumulative final? really dude wow
Yeah he is funny, but you may not think so when you see how his class is structured. His power points are incomplete that he posts on blackboard, tells the class to shut up, waited a week before the final to give the third exam, and he has his TA'S hover the classroom to insure no one is using their cellphones. In all this is a horrible class.
His tests are way too hard and graded way too harshly. Even if you study for them. Yeah he's funny but that won't help you in the long run.
Terrible educator, tests are long and difficult even when u study a lot, he speaks very fast and provide very little explanation to concepts, definitely not recommended!
The professor explained the structure and difficulty of the course on the first day. The effort you put into the course is what will reflect in your grade. He gives the completed powerpoints during lecture, so you should attend or set up to get notes from someone who attends regularly. I do agree, however, that the TA's graded very strictly.
There are 4 exams including the final. Your lowest test grade is dropped. There is extra credit. He is SOOO FUNNY and makes class enjoyable. Talk to him for any reason he's very understanding and willing to help. Great Professor, would take again. Focus on writing a really good essay for this class (just 1 essay).
so i took Glasford last semester, i completely underestimated him when i read his exams were hard. But he makes this class interesting considering its social psych so all his examples are real life scenarios which makes it a lot easier to understand. i recommend him. plus he's such a cutie pie :) lol
He's funny, you'll love his class, his jokes and his videos. Tests are hard and based on real life scenarios which psychological terms have to be applied to. I love the riddles on the exams though. Just study and write a good paper and you should survive.
Interesting and engaging lectures. The TA's hover though so it makes the room a little uncomfortable, like you have to check to make sure you're not up to anything. Tough class, tests are no joke, but I would recommend Dr. Glasford.
This class was dreadful, his test are just ridiculous its so much material like if one doesn't have any other classes. Also I call his gradings "the luck of the TA's" basically your grade is up to which TA you get, for my paper I followed his rubric and i just past but if i would've gotten my paper graded by another TA my grade would've been better.
Pros- He makes the material entertaining and has a good sense of humor. Attendance isn't important and he posts his slides online. Tests are Multiple choice and short answer. Cons- Class was so big he can't be really there for you. LOTS of material and he give no reviews or review sheets which made it difficult to tell what would be on the test.
His test aren't easy. They make you put the material you learned into real life scenarios. this class gives you a different outlook on life and helps you look at life differently. he is hilarious and i love the way he teaches the class, it really does get you involved. the TA's are annoying though
this professor is awesome. I didn't want to take social psych but I had to, and now I'm glad I did. prof glasford's lectures are fun and interesting. he's funny and knows how to talk to his class and make relatable points/examples. take his class if you can!!! he's so great
Funny. Charismatic. Passionate and informed about Psychology. Great professor! Although, despite him being so chill, he's a tough grader and takes the exams and assignments very seriously.
not too tough of a grader, fair, 3 exams and final. lowest of 3 exams is dropped, 12 page paper (very detailed and easy to write), inspirational, extremely hilarious, and gives 14 xtra credit points by sona research experiments. lectures are long. just difficult material difficult exams. need txtbook because 15% of questions on exam come from book
Very funny professor but tough grader when it comes to tests and the paper. The test questions are application based. STUDY! do not leave it for the day before. Other than that, his lectures are great. Paper is between 7-12 pages. He does give extra credit.
It's a lot of material, but he makes it all very clear, and is entertaining to listen to. Attendance is not required which is a nice change of pace from most professors in the Psych department here. Make sure you read the textbook, though. The test questions are application based which can be tough if you didn't study well.
save yourself. do not take him. you will regret it. he has a TA walk around the room and tell you to get off your phone. he says the second time he has to ask you to get off the phone he will take 15 points off your final grade. his tests are hard. you have to purchase the textbook. like i said, save yourself. do not take him.
THIS MAN IS GREAT !!
He is hilarious. 80% of the lectures are on the test and 20% is from the textbook: read the definition of the highlighted words and understanding the concept. Up to 14 extra credit points- Paper/doing a research. Tests: application based: understand concepts. One paper 8-12 pg. Will not go on until everyone understands. You can't be lazy!!
He's such a great professor. He makes everything clear the first day of class. He tells you the tests are application based, so it's pretty hard. There's a 7-12 page paper, if you follow the outline it's not too hard. If you try hard enough, you'll do good. Do not use your phone or talk during class. He's super hilarious! Makes class interesting.
He is HILARIOUS and good looking too. His exams are hard it's application based so try to make connections to yourself. There is a research paper assignment Do NOT procrastinate or you will fail. Attendance is not mandatory but there are blank sections in the powerpoint that you have to be in class to get. 3 exams and a final also extra credit.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. You will regret it. He's fun to talk to and a nice person, but his exams are extremely difficult. It is all application which is fine because it what we would use in the real world but you read the first question and it's like wtf. Don't take him. Even doing extra credit wont save your grade.
Dr. Glasford is that his exams are very difficult. The wording confuses you. There is 3 exams, a midterm paper ( which is pretty easy, but tough grader nit picks at everything), and a final ( that is accumalative.) Attendance is NOT manatory however, you may miss important information from the lecture. He's funny and cool person behind the doors.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS HIS EXAMS ARE APPLICATIONS BASED AND ARE HARD AF HE AND HIS TA'S ARE SUCH NITPICKERS WHEN GRADING PAPERS THE FINAL IS CUMULATIVE, SERIOUSLY WHO DOES THAT 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND
One paper, three exams (lowest grade gets dropped) and a final. His exams are all application based. 80% from the lecture, 20% from textbook. Attendance isn't mandatory but slides on bb have blanks, so you'd better understand if you show up. His lectures are interesting, lots of video examples. Pretty funny professor.
This man is UHMAZING. He's extremely invested and willing to work with you. He is very straight forward and will tell you what to expect from his class. He give A LOT of really valuable information so best not be absent. It's a real-life everyday occurrences which keeps you engaged with him. He loves participation. 10000% recommend. You learn ALOT.
Pretty easy class IF you pay attention and make sure you ask questions and take good notes with examples of theories. He's so funny and takes his stuff serious. Asking questions is key in understanding the concepts. Only 4 short assignments that are super easy and 3 test, drops the lowest grade. He lets you do online surveys for 14 extra points.
Honestly I was hesitant to take this professor because of the poor reviews, but his class was amazing. Its true that his exams are hard, but he answers EVERY question you have & he'll give you 100 examples of a concept if you dont understand it. His lectures were very entertaining, the paper was split into 4 sections & lowest test grade was dropped
I loved him. I think the class was straightforward. Four easy small papers. The test you just have to actually study and pay attention. He is funny and caring, I think he was fair. He's just honest could get scary at first but great class. Very interesting. Would take this class again.
Dr. Glasford was hilarious and very nice. Exams are HARD. one easy paper split into 4 parts. attendance not mandatory but you probably wont pass if you're not there. Very caring about your future and wants to help get you achieve your goals. He was awesome, just tough.
Has student slides & professor slides. Student slides are incomplete & he expects you to add. States attendance not mandatory, but if u are absent alot then expect to fail. Lectures are funny but often stray from material needed to clarify the material and pass the course. If u have a life, or work this is not the class 4 u. Heavy Reading on ur own
Lectures funny full of useless Youtube videos, that don't help understand the material. Shows teachers power points in class, but post student PP w/limited info on Blackboard, you must add missing parts to the Student PP. Horrible!! Professor doesn't help much when asked, almost feels like he wants you to fail. Never had such a Horrible Professor!
horrible! he has TAs that do ALL the grading for him. I got a full-blown zero on an assignment because I supposedly wrote a curse word, I checked and I didn't write any swear words at all. points off would make sense. he sucks at emailing back students,he doesn't give you any study guides so when you do study, nothing you studied is on the exam.
4 written assignments and 4 multiple choice exams, not including the final. Exams are whatever, it's hard to study because he's so lecture/vocabulary heavy and the questions are applied. But the essays are entirely graded by TAs. Overly picky and overlook stuff. I wrote a "great essay" but got a C on it because they overlooked an entire section.
nice person, frustrating professor. 3 regular mc exams (lowest grade is dropped), final and 1 paper thats split into 4 parts but he doesnt look at the papers as the papers are solely graded by his TAs... who were often knit-picky. Getting points back that were wrongfully deducted was like pulling teeth. He likes that his exams are hard... just dont
Absolutely awful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take the latest 2022 reviews for consideration, this professor does NOT care about his students. Tests are horrible even after studying, my classmates had to create MULTIPLE quizlets, study guides, etc to help us even JUST pass tests . AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He will say in the beginning of the class that people dont like him but the reason is that he is very careless with a students grades. Multiple students had a issue of not receiving credit and all he did was claim we werent on the list. His tests are confusing because he gives so much information on the slides and the TAs grade every assignment.
He is a fair professor but the class itself can be difficult. The tests were not that bad, but the grading for the writing assignments were awful.
DONT LISTEN TO THE SPRING 2022 COMMENTS!!!! Most of them were lazy and did poorly because they refused to study. He gives plenty of irl and video examples of concepts to help you understand. Tells stories related to topics to help keep class engaging. Barely any hw. Tests are only hard if you struggle with application based tests. MAKE QUIZLETS!!!!
Please dont even bother taking this class. Attendance isnt mandatory and he claims that "you learn more in class" meanwhile you can learn more from not even attending the class. He posts all the slides on brightspace there isnt even any point coming to class. Very nice guy but really boring lectures You dont even learn anything.
I mean it do not ever EVER take this dudes class ever. Seems like a nice guy he has no idea what the hell he is doing. The whole class dont even know what is going on. His teaching style is absolutely terrible. How did John Jay even approve him. Literally almost all of the class is failing and he dont do anything to help. NEVER TAKE GLASFORD!!!!!
If you really like real-life examples of concepts, then definitely take Glasford! There's so much material to cover in Social Psych so of course he goes through the material fast. Show up! There is no homework and if you make the effort to learn or even memorize the concepts, you'll be fine. The exams aren't really hard and he's a sweet person.
My honest review I rate this class 6/10. I do agree his lectures are boring. If you take this class just review the underline vocab words & pls study it for the exam. The exam is scenarios &circle the correct vocabulary word choice.3 exams , drop lowest. 2 papers(3pg & 6pg) those were easy to me. I would take him again if I have no other professor
He was good, definitely read what the other person wrote about the exams, because I wish knew that sooner. But I would take it again.
I would recommend taking another professor if you can.
