If it wasnt for Mrs. Berg I probably wouldnt have passed micro. I had an awful lecture teacher. Read and study and you'll pass with a good grade. Gives extra credit and very helpful with any questions. I plan to take her again for A&P. She made lab really fun and she has a sense of humor. i'd recommend her.

I had her for lab. She is nice, but micro is a very difficult class. I would take her again, but only if I was not taking a full load of other classes with it. There are no reviews, so you have to memorize EVERYTHING. There is so much information and no way of noing what will be on the test.

Professor Berg is one the best instructors I have had for a science course. She is clear, concise, and extremely helpful. I think what makes her effective is her passion for the subject, her willingness to help her students understand trhe subject matter. She's always willing to go over a topic again to ensure every student understands a concept.

Mrs. Berg is very nice and helpful, but very strict on her tests. Her test have have multiple choice, true/false and SHORT ANSWER! The short answer questions are very very difficult and you must know every detail going into the question to recieve all the credit. I took her for summer 6 week course and recommend not taking this class in the summer.

A far as classes go, I really enjoyed taking Genetics online with Dr. Berg. There are a lot of assignments due weekly so be ready to dedicated a lot of time and do NOT wait till the last minute. She really cares about how you are doing and responds to emails quickly. I learned ALOT this semester and would definitely recommend her.

i took Berg last semester and honesty she has to be one of the hardest teachers I've had so far. All her exams include fill in the blanks, multiple choice, short answers and compare and contrast. Having the book is a must! I wouldn't recommend...

She is a great professor; old school and not up-to-date with modern trends but she is funny at times. This is a DIFFICULT weed-out course for medical programs so you have to be dedicated. Exams, midterm, and final are difficult and comprehensive but she does provide reviews. HW is online and gradually gets more difficult throughout the course.

Mrs. Berg is an excellent professor. She is extremely knowledgeable about the course content and communicates very well. You have to put in the work, but she is in your corner and gives you every opportunity to succeed!

Mrs. Berg is an EXCELLENT instructor. The material is difficult, and her tests are no joke, but with effort, you can do well. She wants her students to succeed, and will help you if you're struggling. She is a first class instructor, and TCC is blessed to have her on staff. You must be prepared to study, however.

Ms. Berg was the best teacher I ever had. She's very knowledgeable and is willing to help her students succeed, but she can't do the work for you. If you're looking for an easy A, don't take her, but if you're looking to become a nurse or other medical professional, she's exactly the teacher you need.

Loved this class. Loved this professor. I went to her office regularly, she was always happy to help. She has a way of saying things so that hard topics make sense. One of the best. I will miss her!

Ms Berg is one of my favorites. She cares about her students. If you do your part, she is there to help you learn! Not easy but I believe she helped me pass the HESI!

Mrs. Berg is AMAZING! Microbiology is tough but she makes it bearable. She truly cares about each of her students and wants us to do well, BUT you have to work for it. She's a lenient grader, partial credit is almost always given. LOTS OF STUDYING TIME NEEDED. I'm on my way to an A for the semester, but if that doesn't happen I'll have a B+.

She is a very fair teacher and helps you understand the material. Yes the class is hard but there is a reason for it. If you work, she will help you get where you need to go. She is there for her students. She is very smart and knows what she is doing. I wish I had taken her the first time. Learned so much from her and enjoyed her class!

Best teacher i have ever had. she makes you work for your grade. you either know the material or you don't. she will help you any time you need it! she is so nice i would love to have her as a professor again.

I loved Dena. Her test were hard, but you have an outline of all the material to study! I never read a chapter for her class and I did just fine. If you need help, she is there! So dont hesitate to ask. I really enjoyed her class and would take her again. Don't skip her class either, or you will end up not doing so good on the test. GREAT TEACHER!!

Loved this class. This was my second time to take genetics. Ms Berg was a great teacher. I learned so much more from her than the previous instructor. Strongly recommend this class with Ms Berg!!

Took her for Micro. You cannot slack for this class. It was basically Bio1/2, A&P1/2 and pathophys all in one giant class. Sometimes the material for the week covers 5-6 chapters, with very specific and very long quizzes / connect assignments due every week. Very difficult, but she is also very clear, tells you what to expect and delivers on it

Love Berg!! She's there for her students and she wants you to succeed! This class is meant to be hard! You want to have a good healthcare worker who knows that they're doing, and she makes sure of it. Be prepared to do work and to study for exams. She is always there for you and her lectures are AMAZING!

Ms. Berg is an incredible instructor. Yes you have to work for your grade, and study outside of class time, but it's a science class, so that should be expected. She gives great lectures, funny and engaging, especially for material that can be difficult. When I asked for tips on how to change up my studying, she gave me great advice. The best!

Professor Berg's blended BIOL-2421 course was a great experience. Class isn't easy, be ready to work, but you will learn a ton. One of the few who really seems to care about how her students do!

Mrs. Berg really wants everyone to pass but doesn't hand out grades... you have to earn it. It's a very tough class but I learned so much. There's a lot of work and I pretty much had no life because of how much work I put into it outside of school. Attend SI and hold study groups and lots of flash cards and you should be fine.

I was afraid to take this class. Ms. Berg helped me so much I got an A and now I'm thinking about changing my major. Loved the class and Ms. Berg. Highly recommend her.

The class is hybrid or blended. You have a quiz or test EVERY week. The online lectures are pretty long. The class just requires lot of studying, so if you are working, you will have to be really organized. She is also vague when answering questions. She is nice though. DO THE OUTLINES! Start the online quizzes early to ensure a good grade.

She wants you to succeed and gives you the tools to do so. The chapter outlines she provides are awesome and give you more time to focus on the subject rather than freaking out about the amount of information you'd have to transcribe otherwise. Be prepared to read, and go to the scheduled study sessions outside of class. Believe in yourselves.

Taking this over the summer is intense, but getting an A is very doable. Always read the chapters before going to class, her exams are challenging but she always gives out 3-4 extra points questions since it's hard to get a perfect score. She's approachable and will help you with what you're struggling. She cares a lot about her students.

Love this class! The online assignments really prepare you for the inclass activities and exams. She really is there for you and wants to help. Defienitly not an easy class, but I learned so much.

I love this class! I was skeptical about Micro, but Berg makes this class so easy as long as you read everything she gives you, take notes and study study study! This class is a easy A/B! I highly recommend her, she's very organized and extremely helpful if your having trouble! I wish she taught AP2!

This class and prof berg are awesome. Everything you need to get an A is online. Just doing all of the assignments helped me get an A. She will help you if you ask. She really cares about her students.

I took Prof Berg for Microbiology & I loved her! She's an amazing teacher but she's also a very tough one! I'm a Biology major & I learned more in her Microbio class than I did in any of my General Bio courses COMBINED. If you are willing to learn & do the work, her class is 100% worth it. Not a professor to take if you're wanting just an easy A.

Prof Berg is by far the best instructor I've had. The lectures are very thorough and she explains what she's teaching. Hands down my favorite college professor! Her lectures are very informative and she will help you in any way she can to help you get the grade you want. You will have to work for it, it is not an easy class but Berg is amazing!

This is the most organized online class I have ever taken. I really appreciate the time and effort she puts into it. The lecture videos help a lot when I don't understand something I read in the book. She is quick to respond to emails, even came in to campus just to meet with me and answer questions. Highly recommend this professor!

Mrs. Berg teaches things in a way that is easy to understand. If you dont understand it she goes back and explains it in a different way, so that helps tremendously. She makes it interesting instead of just listing stuff off, she demonstrates concepts on the white board. She is one of the best teachers that I have ever had.

Don't expect this to be a sophmore level course, this class was on par with even some of my senior level courses. Absolutely would not recommend taking her online genetics course unless you would like to become a geneticist yourself. Homework/assignments are quite easy but the exams are at a whole different level. Be prepared to know small details!

This is a blended class, about half online and half in class. Befoer this class I was afraid to take microbiology. I loved the blended class and Ms. Berg. She makes it easy to get an A if you just do the work and study. She is willing to help in office hours. Definitely a great class and instructor!

Course is so well organized and easy to navigate. I really appreciate the additional resources and the interactive sites! Also a fan of feedback explanations on assignments, they let me know WHY I was wrong, what the correct answer was. This is a great online course due to constant reminders, motivational updates, overall scheme of class.

I really enjoyed this class. She provides outlines to take notes on for her lectures. You NEED to go to class and take notes off of her lecture. I did not read the textbook at all, but I used the lab book. Micro is gonna be hard with whoever you choose, but she is a good teacher and will help you with anything you need.

Ms. Berg is an outstanding professor!! She is extremely fair and so passionate about teaching her students! She truly makes you want to do your very best for her! She is a tough grader (and there are little to no extra credit points available) but if you listen attentively, take good notes and are willing to really put the time in - you'll do well!

Genetics with Professor Berg is great. I really like the "check my progress" questions because it can reveal what may be weak points as far as understanding concept, specifically the vocabulary parts. I also like how it often shows an explanation or links to a video that actually explains the answer, instead of simply saying it is right or wrong.

Good professor! However her tests are hard because a lot of her test questions are "select all apply" type of questions. In lab and lecture exams you may see questions from homework so pay attention! In the summer it's very fast so be aware of that when you take this class. Thought she would've been lenient since we took this class during corona.

I felt lucky to take microbiology with Berg! I learned so much and really enjoyed doing experiments and growing my own bacteria, coolest thing I've seen. It's a lot of work & not easy. But. she made the class interesting, recorded lectures and provides an outline to take notes on. Do the work, stay on track and it's an easy A. She's also very kind.

AMAZING professor. Truly goes out of her way to educate and help her students. Unfortunately with COVID-19 we were forced to take this class 100% online and at home labs. Thankfully, I chose Professor Berg as she really might be one of the best professors Ive had yet. Highly recommend registering for her classes over the other choices.

I enjoyed microbiology immensely with Prof Berg. I also took her genetics course and loved it. Understanding mRNA made me more comfortable when it came to accepting the COVID vaccine. Lab was fun, impressed we got to grow bacteria at home with kits! Both classes were very organized and easy to follow. She is quick to respond to email and grading.

I really enjoy the structure so far with having the concepts checks, then a quiz, and finally the test. This gives many opportunities to work with the material and learn what areas I may not be as strong in. This kind of repetition also helps ingrain the material into my memory, so thank you!

Love this class! I am learning a ton of interesting information. Her videos are very concise and the animations that are sometimes included are gold. I don't think there is much more she can do to help facilitate learning with the way the class is set up.

Professor Berg is a great teacher. Microbiology is hard, so it has nothing to do with a professor. She helps students in class to work through any difficult questions. Tells you exactly where to study for the test and exams. Microbiology needs your extra-mile hard work to succeed. She is a good choice. Take her.

Prof Berg knows her stuff. Good teacher but her class is extremely tough. She wants you to be an expert. No homework- Test/quizzes/2 research papers. If you are not a good test taker you will fail. On test select all that apply questions will not give partial cred, short answer, multi choice, T/F. No extra credit given. Must WORK HARD for grade.

Professor Berg is an AMAZING teacher. She definitely knows her stuff. I worked very hard, and earned my A. She cares about her students and is available to help outside of class. I thank Professor Berg because her class does push you to learn the material. Take her if you want to learn.

Dr Berg made learning micro fun. I received a C but that's my own fault, I took two 4 hr science classes at the same time along with everything else I've got going on in my life. With every exam she gives the chance of earning 10 extra credit points. Exam questions are meant for you to integrate the information learned, rarely will there be a w4w Q

Amazing. Organized, fair, high expectations, still very human. Definitely be prepared to spend time at home on the recorded lectures if there are bad weather days, but everything is there and she is 100% open to questions/clarification. Solid professor.

Professor Berg is in my top 3 at TCC. She was a delight inside and outside of the classroom. The only thing I would change is that I would do away with online lectures and have them in class but that is solely because my ADHD makes listening to videos much harder than listening to a live human being. Her feedback is invaluable as is her heart.

Mrs. Berg has been my favorite professor ever. She isn't an easy choice, she'll make you earn your grade. But she is so sweet and caring, and will go above and beyond to help her students understand the material. If you're going into nursing, I highly recommend her. Do the concept check questions for each lesson. They make her exams far easier.

I took Prof. berg for an online 8wk while taking 3 other classes and still made it work with a B. She provides all the material and then some to help you succeed. Some open response questions on tests/quizzes which she can be a little tough on grading but overall she was a great professor and I would take her again.

a lot of matching banks. For example, if you get 3/4 correct the question is wrong, no partial credit. I had issues with my computer (couple of other classmates too) so we were unable to turn an assignment in, even with an email letting her know the situation we received 0s. Even if it's late by seconds it will be manually turned into a 0 later

I had Berg for both Genetics & Micro. She is a passionate, dedicated professor. She is easy to get in touch with & is always willing to take the time to clarify topics. Both classes require time & effort to do well, but she gives more than enough resources to do so. If you have the chance to take her, do it!! She's among the best TCC has to offer.

I took professor Berg for Micro 2420 (blended). She is passionate in her teaching, she is available to help, and she provides a total of 20 extra credit points for the semester. There are 47 lecture videos (most around 15-25 min/ long). The work load and material was tricky for me, but going to SI helped a lot. Difficult but definitely doable.

Professor Berg is no easy A, but her microbiology class is worth the challenge. She's extremely knowledgeable and cares about students' understanding. Using unstuck ai alongside the textbook and lectures helped me ace the exams.

Dena Berg is a very caring professor. She continually shows that she wants us to succeed and will do anything to help us succeed. Her blended class provides videos she makes about the units/topic, and they are very immersive and easy to follow if you take good notes. Her mini quizzes help prepare us for the tests. She makes me have fun studying for her class because of the amazing stuff you learn in her class.

She is a very easy-going and understanding professor. Her class is actually really fun, especially during labs. Class time is more lab-focused, so you'll need to put more effort into reviewing the lecture material outside of class, since it isn't always covered in great detail during lecture. she's great at communicating and answering her emails.
