Syllabus too vague; needs better clarification. When asked to clarify something, she never really answers the question directly; very ambiguous. Doesn't effectively know how to handle the online environment. Avoid like a tsunami.

Prof. Weiss seems unwilling to assist students with tough circumstances and never answered my questions directly. Especially with an online class, a professor should be very involved and available, which Weiss was not. She replied back to my emails late too. You're better off just taking a Forensics course at your local college. Stay away from her.

The class relied entirely on the use of text. I didn't learn anything I hadn't already learned in a level 200 criminology class. Waste of my time, but sadly, it was a requirement. Argh!

Typical AMU wkly DB but w/ inconsistent grading & no grace for late. Research paper 8 pgs; graded fairly. Midterm/Final 4 hrs, were 1/2 mult choice/fitb & half essay; 3-4 para w/ 2 refer. graded fairly. Bottom line: Tough Course. Only time she added her expertise of Forensics was when you got an answer wrong, like to have seen more in positive way.

Horrible, un-fair, disrespectful, criticize student post negatively, fails to provide feedback, does not interact with student, does not respond on time, lacks of professionalism. I will not recommend her. Don’t take any class with her. Take my advice if you want to have a good experience and a better professor.

Horrible professor - DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES! Negative, downright rude and sarcastic. I was really interested in the course topic at first, but then she made it negative and boring. Nit-picky and harsh, never an encouraging word!

I took Criminal Profiling with this instructor. This is also the only class I have had to withdraw from! She gives zero guidance, then deducts points for ridiculous stuff! Gives no useful feedback, just deducts points! When you question her grading, she becomes snarky and rude, to the point that I had forwarded her messages on to my advisor!

She is not clear on homework assignments nor the quizzes. She grades references and in text citation worse than an English Professor and her overall grading scheme is not easily understood. To understand the homework you have to go outside of the book. The book does not cover most of the question she asks for homework.

Expects you to know EVERYTHING about APA. Gives horrible feedback and tells you to go see her "videos" if you need help. I would not take her class again.

The professor was confusing and not clear with writing expectations. I passed the class, but it was not a class that I would recommend, at least not with this professor.

This teacher does not respect the hard work of students at all and she is very difficult to work with. She grades very unfair safe yourself from drama and skip this one.

Grading criteria is clear as mud. I lost points on every single assignment for things that were not listed in the instructions/rubric. When I asked for clarification she was rude and made me feel stupid. Prior to this class I had a 4.0 GPA so there's clearly something off here.

This instructor, like most, had a ?'s section. I was confused about something and needed more clarification. She responded in a rude defensive manner. After that, I never asked her anything else. She also does not offer any useful feedback and is not clear with what you're expected to do for assignments. Needless to say, I dropped the class in wk 4

Avoid at all costs. You will think you are taking classes at Harvard with this professor.

The course is not the issue. The professor comes across as rude, unprofessional and is extremely vague. The courseware and material was difficult to access and she provided no answers to rectify the issue. Grading was not clear, GPA is above 3.9 and I received a 100 then a 75 on similar projects.

Seemed to be more concerned with the APA format in the forums than the actual context. Week 1 Forum posts were completed by all students and she made a forum post with the title " Did anyone read the instructions for class forums?????" and then proceeded in the post with copy and pasted APA formatting standards. Didn't help there was no textbook.

The professor fails to answer direct questions. She provides a resource to answer the question. Even if you are unable to articulate the answer from the resource she indicates you should re-read the material.

Very difficult grader. Does not interact weekly with all students on forum posts. Does not offer constructive feedback on wrong material. No book provided and references for reading that are provided for the topic each week are outdated sources. Sourcesare not acceptable to refer back to for the weekly forum.

Extremely difficult grader. She would dock you points if you make the slightest error in APA format. Her midterm and final consisted of 4 essay questions that were actually 2-3 questions in 1. Given only 4hs in which to complete the tests where she wanted 3 paragraphs per essay and 2 peer review sources in addition.

EXTREMELY difficult, ridiculous grader. More concerned with formatting than the actual paper content. Midterm and finals are 4-5 essay questions where each question is actually 2 in one, & you only get 4 hours to do it. You have to do a decent amount of research in a short amount of time. Also the sources given are out dated and you can't use them

The toughest grader I have ever had in an online class. Expectations are extremely high. Exam says 3 paragraphs, you better write 9 paragraphs. Directions say 5 sources minimum? make it 10! I challenged her about my grade on an exam, she said she was preparing me for future classes... little did she know that she was one of my last. Just Don't.

Do your self a favor and take someone else!!!!!!!!!! I have all As and Im really scared I wont be passing her class! If youre not perfect at APA formatting, this class dont help, and you will fail miserably.

As for taking a class with this professor. Think again she is very strict on the APA 6 format. I feel after being recommend for the deans list after taking this class I will no longer be in the run for it. She is brutal on the grading. I will never take another class if she is the professor.

She is the worst ever for the last 4 years in class. She don't care about anything, she has their own APA formatting, good collaboration means you are not answering to class. Please stay away of her classes.

If you think you are using proper APA Format and using the tools she provided you think again! She says write 3-4 paragraphs for something you better write 15! The only thing I learned from this class is ,if the Pope could write a paper about the Catholic religion, she will give him a 70. Don't ask for feedback unless you want to get a rude answer.

Professor Weiss is an extremely tough grader and requires excessively long responses on both weekly forum posts, as well as assignments. The page requirements are way longer than they should be. On top of that, she deducts points for having the listed amount of required sources.

Consistently finds reasons to lower grades. Will give you feedback on what you need to improve; however, even if you fix it the next time she will find another reason to mark you down. Does not give very specific guidelines to correct work, especially regarding APA citations.

Make sure that you read the lessons and try and read her brain so that you can find out what she actually wants you to do. I gave her everything that she asked for and she still graded my stuff below average. She will also put announcements in to the class and let everyone know how disappointed she is in everyones performance. Choose another prof.

Dr. Weiss is a horrible professor. She is very demanding in exactly what she wants but will do little to explain anything. If I had to take another class with her instruction I would switch schools altogether to escape how horrible of a person she is. If i could drop this class without penalty I would in a heartbeat.

Dena Weiss is one of the worst professors I have had. I took 3 classes with her the first class she failed me after giving me three 0's on my critical thinkings despite CSUGlobal guidelines. What can I say about Dr. Weiss. 1. No matter how much effort you put on ANY assignment its immediately a C. 2. Belittles you in class forums. Rather than sending messages directly. 3. Her guidance for assignments is extremely difficult. 4. Takes forever to grade, will give you a C with no clear cut feedback I will never take her class again.

After many email conversations with her, I still have not figured out what she wanted from me. I went into this class with a 3.9 GPA, I consider myself to be a smart guy. After putting about 4 days' work into her midterm, she gave me a low C. If she says use peer-reviewed articles, only use what you find in the Trefry library.

This is my 2nd class I have had her in. She has no problem taking points away, without giving explanation why. When it comes to citations, she deducts points, and says not proper form, although every other professor seems to give full credit for the same format. When asked for help just tells to read about citation format. No real educating done.

Dena Weiss was the most outrageous professor I have ever had to deal with. She says that if you ever have any questions that you can email her, but she does not give any clarification on any questions you ask. Her instructions are impossible and her grading often contradicts her own rubric. Don't bother asking her to explain where you can improve.

I have been going to AMU for almost 3 years and she is the most unprofessional professor I have had. I dropped the class after receiving a failing grade for following the rubric to a T on my paper for manners of death, but she wanted an explanation on why I didn't write on things that weren't in the topic-. The worst prof I have ever encountered. She finds every reason to mark down your grade. She is not very flexible. If you need homework ahead if time, forget about it. I ended up dropping the course after seeing how harshly she graded discussions. I did have a A- at the end of week 3, but that grade did not include any work that was point heavy.

Do yourself a favor and do not take this course with Dr. Weiss. One of the worst professors I have ever encountered. Takes online school grading way too serious and will mark your grades down significantly if there is even the slightest error! Every discussion post felt as though I was writing a full APA paper. I would follow the rubric & assignment to a T & she would still grade me below average. She would take off points for questions she never asked but wanted answers to. Belittles you. Not flexible. She should not be a professor at this university, or any for that matter & her behavior is disgusting. She expects all of her students to turn in Harvard quality work, or you fail. I would strongly recommend to find another professor, unless you can dedicate yourself to perfecting and revising every little single sentence you craft in this class at least 5 times and the still anticipate it will not not be enough. Absolutely horrible professor. Hardest worst grader I ever had. Will give you feedback on your work that states you didnt meet requirements that were never stated previously. Doesnt set good guidelines, but then gives you a failing grade for not doing what she wanted. Doesnt email back when you have questions. No one has ever made me so frustrated

She's absolutely horrible!! Her "feedback" isn't helpful at all, but she still expects you to figure out how to fix it. Seems like anyone who calls her out on anything she's doing wrong, even more points are deducted. In- text citations are never good enough for her, points deducted for that. Worst teacher I've had in my life. Find someone else!

Professor Weiss is by far the worst professor i have encountered at this University, She has a ridiculous amount of work that she gives and is very precise about how you do an assignment and even if you do it correctly, it is done wrong.

Worst professor on AMU/APUS by far, she does not care that most of her students are military or veterans. Absurd amount of work constantly given by her, do yourself a favor and do not take this class at all costs. She thinks we all have 18 plus years of working on law enforcement and won't pace her work for new students

Ambiguous rubric, harsh grading, horrible communication. Condescending to others. She stated its NEVER acceptable to collect hair evidence at a burglary scene.

I have been in this profession for decades. I took this class to gain some refresher knowledge and was severely disappointed. I struggled to pass even while going above and beyond in posts, response, writings, etc. Content presented in the class is old and vague and formatting/her preferred answer is the only thing that matters. AVOID!!

No matter what you do, it is never enough. Spend hours on discussion and writing assignments just to be given failing grades with little to no substantial feedback. You will feel like you understand the material very well and then be hit with a sub 60-70 percent grade with no comments of actual value towards your work. Avoid if you can.

Avoid this professor at all costs. She does not provide any clear feedback when grading. You can make a 2000 word weekly post and its not good enough. She treats an elective like a core class with zero feedback only regurgitates the rubric to you. You are expected to make posts like its your daily job.

This course was one of the most demoralizing academic experiences I've ever had. Feedback was sparse and rarely constructive, communication was minimal and impersonal, and the grading felt overly rigid. There was little indication of instructional support or encouragement. I would not recommend taking this course under the current instructor.

Points deducted for not addressing items that were not mentioned in the readings or discussion question. When asking about the grading was referred to the rubric. About 23-26 points out of 40 were deducted weekly with no explanation. Doesn't matter how many sources you cite it will never be enough. She will tell you none were cited.

I asked for clarification on grading criteria and instead, she replied with the same diluted copy and paste from the rubric. There comes a point in the class where you realize you're just going to get c's from this professor. Essay prompts are incredibly vague but met with the grading demand of a detailed outlined prompt.

She is extremely nit picky, contradicts what she asks for. Requires every single discussion to be responded to along with replies for every single one. Requests scholary then peer and doesnt know the difference. Takes mutiple weeks to grade.

This teacher is not a teacher...she's clearly there for a paycheck and nothing more. She doesn't want to help the students succeed at all. Taking her class is a waste of money. DO NOT recommend.

One mistake ruined my entire grade. No extra credit, no guidance, no understanding for full-time workers trying to succeed. Avoid her.
