Professor Lohez is very patient and gentle. So far I enjoyed her International Trade
Fun Professor and Nice Lady
She is the greatest Professor ever at Queens College. I'm an upper senior and have never seen a helpful Professor like she is. She helps you understand everything and dedicates herself and her time to her students. I strongly recommend Prof. Lohez if you need to take Econ326. The subject is kind of boring however she makes it fun and interesting
I wish I could take another class with her. She is such a nice professor. Thanks to her, I started following the financial news daily. She made us subscribe for Financial Times(not mandatory but very helpful). She really knows what she is teaching and relates everything to the real world economics. You won't regret it, just take her class.
Her class is very interesting especially because she explains what is going on in the markets today. She is really nice and cares for the students, wishes all her students to be successful. Even though i am getting a B- in her class i have learned alot from her but beware this is a hard course to begin with so study and she will guide you.
JUST BECAUSE SHE LET THE STUDENTS RUN THE CLASS DOES NOT MEAN SHE IS A GOOD TEACHER. BY THE WAY READING FROM THE BOOK AND SHE IS ALWAYS APOLOGIZYING. SHE HAS TO MUCH FAVORISTISM BASED ON RACE IF YOU ARE JEWISH O ASIAN YOU GOOD IF YOU ARE NONE OF THE ABOVE DONT TAKE HER CLASS.NEVER PREPARED AND TAKES LONG GIVE BACK ASSIGNMENTS AND TEST
What the previous student wrote it completely not true! Prof. Lohez is extremely fair and truly cares about all her students. Some students think that they can skip every class and still get an A and then write that the teacher has favorites because they failed the test.
She is the best teacher in queens college, her class is interesting and extremely useful. And to the person who said she favors asians and jews, your F---ing crazy, im not asian or jewish and she is really nice to me as well as all her student. TAKE ANY CLASS SHE OFFERS SHES AMAZING!!
GREATEST TEACHER OF ALL TIME
I never met such caring professor in my entire college time. She is great.
Money and Banking is a dry subject but Ms. Lohez made this course interesting. In addition to that, her dressing style is very elegant and bit exotic but very expensive you could tell.
wat elegant dressing? Anyways, shes a nice teacher...writes everything on the board but has developed sort of an attitude. Tough and tricky exams. But as an econ215 teacher, shes the best that queens college has to offer.
Professor Lohez tried to explain materal in simplest way to students. I think that She has a very good heart and also she is very natural person.
This professor made the class interesting. She teaches knowing fully well that the students are undergraduates and not beyond. She explains and makes sure that you understand. If you don't speak up though, she'll keep going. My advice is: read that book if you can, take her notes, & ask questions if you are not sure. Take her, she's down-to-earth.
Excellent Professor and good person. She makes everything easy to understand and not boring at all.I highly recommend you.
I took Professor Lohez for both ECON 215 and BUS 350. She is very knowledgable and likes class discussions. Exams were okay, some tricky questions but she allowed open notes for midterm & final. She is very fair and she truly understands that we have other obligations and she sympathizes with us. Take her class.
Professor Lohez is kind person and excellent professor and keep student attention with current economic events.
Nice Professor and fair person
Make class interesting and nice to students.I enjoy this class
The class size is too large. But professor is nice to students at least she tried
She does give open notes tests but they're useless b/c she makes the wording of the questions so hard that the notes don't help. She's not helpful at all and doesn't know how to teach or spell. This subject is hard so take someone who will teach the subject better. Very disappointed, I listened to the good rating and now I'm suffering
SHE DOESN'T CARE HOW WELL THE STUDENTS DO, ALL SHE SAYS IS "AT LEAST YOU'LL PASS" SO AN "A" IS OUT OF THE QUESTION. IF A PROF. DOESN'T CARE IT'S HARD TO GET A REALLY GOOD GRADE AND HER NOTES ARE SO BAD THAT THE OPEN NOTES ON THE TESTS DON'T EVEN HELP. QC SHOULD REALLY SCREEN THEIR PROFS. BETTER WHEN HIRING, HORRIBLE
I got 98 from her exam and she congratulated me. The multiple choices are fair and short answer questions are bit hard. But it is on the notes. People who do not attend classes and have no notes and get bad grade and complain.
The mid-term exam is really fair. I never missed her class and did all my home work. She covered everthing in the classroom. The second multiple choice question is bit hard.
She seems like a nice person, and she gives you open-notes exam. However, everything she wrote on the board were useless (exactly from the slides and textbook). You should prepare your own notes according to the textbook in order to do well on the exam.
Gives a lot of real life examples. My brother took her class and recommende me to take her. Exams are based on the notes and you can manage the workload.
Guys its a college you have to study its not an easy class. And withouts own notes you will not do well. And Prof reapyts the staff over and over again just pay attention!!!
This is the best teacher for ECON 215. She makes subject easy to understand and exams are very fair. Always humble and repectful to students. It is rare to see a professor who has no pretention. I recommend you to take her class. Notes are important. You must read the text book as well.
Very hard to understand her. Took her for money and banking. Classes are an exact copy of the text book, tests are open book including the final. Easy A without having to learn or do anything much. Not a good teacher.
This is a nice teacher. Guys, you have to study. She repeats the subject and try to make abstract theory simple in addition with the real life financial markets and history of Corporate leadership
Easygoing professor. Will leave class to check her blackberry messages. Exams are pretty easy, open notes. Final is open book. Still necessary to understand the material, you will not have time to look for every answer in your notes during exams. Cool professor, will try to relate current world issues with the subject. She loves what she does.
After read the text book, I realize that Ms.Lohez really made the course more interesting and easier to understand. Otherwise to read the book alone can be fearsome. She did her best to teach the basic banking industry and monetary policies. One can get the whole picture of the banking industry to get brief knowledge about financial crisis
The material is very difficult. Professor Lohez has patience and repeat herself to make sure that everyone understand it. She is a teacher also a friend willing to write the recommendation letter for students and lead her books to students and make contacts for students assisting them to go to graduate school and search for a job. Take her class.
She's very helpful. she makes the course very easy. Her exams are from her notes. Open book exams, but you still have to know your stuff since you wouldn't have much time to go over all your notes.
Wonderful teacher and kind lady who cares about students and offer help to students. Take her class and you will do well if you follow her class notes.
2 exams!! open book but you have to know where to look...too much information to skim and to find it....questions in the exam are detail oriented and tricky...better off studying even with the open notes...recommend an outline for each chap!! got a B...took it in summer session 1...plus she is nice!1
This professor is very helpful in explaining complicated subjects in simplest way. I read the text book and come to her lecture and I realize that she is very good at teaching students who have no knowledge of banking and financial crisis. A good lady as well.
Professor Lohez is very good to explain the monetary matters. Workload is managable and exam is reasonable.
Prof has a hard accent not easy to understand. Took in summer. Midterm and Final. Which ever you do better on is worth 60% other is 40%. Tests are VERY tricky compared to what she says to study in the reviews. She thinks everything is easy when it usually isnt.
Took money and banking with this instructor in summer one. Hope to get A- but got B+ The teacher is reasonable and request us to read the Wall Street journal. The final exam short answer questions were difficult. She always smiles and all in all not a bad course.
Nice Professor! Makes this course very easy, gives many real world examples. No attendance taken, but she remebers you. Go to class, review slides and you will be fine. Always has smile on her face. Recommend!
Nice professor, has smile on her face all the time. Makes this course very easy and gives many real world examples. No attendance taken but she remembers you. so go to class and review slides and you will be fine. Tests are open book and notes!
Good professor, she makes her class very interesting and always open to help students, she care about students progress.I recommended, take her.
Excellent professor I highly recommended to every one, she make her class very interesting. She always willing to help students.
Does not know how to teach, has her favorites, hard to understand, always off topic, test are open book but super hard
Good teacher and very detail oriented and nice to students
The class with her is ver easy. But I didn't learn too much, she missed many classes. You have to do some homeworks, and she does two test with open book. It is easy to get A but if you want to learn too much don't take this class with her,
Take Tue and Thur. Money and banking with Ms. Lohez. She is very clear and makes subject simple and interesting to learn. It worthy to be on the waiting list to get into her course.
She can relate the complex ECON concepts to the simple life examples and very enthusiastic of her subjects.
Her lectures are not very clear. She doesn't use powerpoint like all the other professors. Her handwriting on the board is hard to read, and she doesn't explain the concepts very well.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! Even if it's the last class open, it's not worth it at all. Tests are extremely hard, covers 8 chapters. It will ruin your GPA! You are better off with a better professor who you can actually understand and learn more from.
This professor always comes late to class. On couple of occasions, she came to class over 40 minutes late. She is not a native English speaker, and she has a heavy accent. It is tough to understand what she is saying. That is not her fault. I think she genuinely wants to teach us and help us understand the material, but it didn't work for me.
I highly recommend students to take this course with Ms. Lohez. Contrary to what said by the students below, she is lucid, kind and considered to students. She was not born in this country so she has accent, but her speech is clear. She is organized and present materiel thoroughly. Recommended.
If you want to teach yourself the material, then take this class. The professor is useless. Money and Banking is not an easy class and it is quite tough understand the concepts . You will learn more with another professor.
interesting subject and she speaks a lot about economic history and current affairs. not a hard course but you do need to read.
Not recommended because you won't learn much from her. Exams are open book, but the whole class still fail the exams & class average is between 50-60. Her style of teaching is not an efficient way for students to learn. Blame students for not studying. Notes from her class are not enough to prepare for the exam. Many received a low grade from her.
Exams are open book, but it completely doesn't help you on the exam. Questions asked are tricky & are not exactly what you learn in class. Answers cannot be found anywhere in her notes. Class average is very low & many failed. She seems to have good rating on this site, but the grade she give out is low. Mainly in the B & C range. Not recommended.
Great Teacher and Really Very Nice person with a great sense of Humanity and feelings Give PowerPoint slides which makes your life much easier. Exams are open books & Notes( one Midterm and one Final ),with an online Homework which is 100% guaranteed ( 25% of the Grade ) Take her you will never fail Recommended
Learn nearly nothing from her teaching. Thinks it's better to take it with another prof. You will be much better off. Her class lowered my Gpa and many students I know also received an unsatisfied grade from her that harmed their Gpa. Not recommended unless you already know the material.
Not recommended. Did not use slides in class. Just upload everything online and expect you to learn from them by yourself. Homework are upload massively that includes questions she never teach. Formulas are unclear and test you on problems that she never teach or talk about in class. Students complain and all she say is that the problem is easy.
I am accounting major and took class this summer with her. I found her very nice. She explain things in simple language like to high school students and I think that she is very kind to students as well..... the open book exam is extremely helpful for the final exam because all answers are on the text book.
Money and Banking is interesting subject if you follow current Fed meetings and possible raise on short-term Fed Fund Rate! she is passionate about this matter and certainly a source of knowledge. I would take her again because it is lively class.
Am doing Econ major. Got straight A's for all of my classes except with her. Gave me a grade which I'm not happy with & bring down my gpa. Learn nothing from her so I struggle in my advance classes. Not a great prof. & material is not clear. She make mistakes & get confuse herself while teaching. Give problem on test that she didn't teach.
Before the exams, she gave good review and demonstrated how to solve numerical problems. I enjoyed the class. I went to her office hours and we did home work together with the other students.
She knows her stuff but doesn't like to be challenged by students. Really cares about the material and loves to teach. First test was hard and open notes but she got in trouble and second was no notes and much easier. posts the slides on blackboard so you can always study off them. gives online quizzes. good teacher. good class
Love this course. She connected with real world economical issues and visited Fed and other web page and discussed BREXIT and FOMC meetings during class. Fun, and practical classes. Cool too.
NO more open book exams. Hasn't done them for the past 2 years. Exams are hard if you don't study a lot. There are 2 midterms and a final which are multiple choice questions and written response based.
30 mcq for 60 points. Then 2 short answers worth 40 points. No review or hint on short answers. One short answer was actually a problem that she never taught in class. Lectures dont help prepare for exams. Since no helpful review is given you need to study everything of every chapters.
no more open book exams. her exams are difficult and she doesn't prepare us for them, sometimes the questions aren't what she taught in class.
I don't recommend her because she's not open to you when you need help with the course. Her lectures were ok. She just read off the slides that were posted on bb. However, it has nothing to do with the exams and homework. The homework questions are hard and has nothing to do with the lecture
If you wanna learn and get a good grade . DO NOT take her. She is nice professor but I don't think she care about student's grade. All she does in the class is reading through slices , ppt she posted has not thing to do with exams. 2 midter 1final. No extre credit. No curve grade. The class is borin shetalk about things not related to lecture
All she does is read through the lectures and gives her personal stories that often go off topic. Hard to understand what she's teaching most of the time and crammed everything towards the end of the semester. She gave an exam a few days before the final and did lousy reviews that didn't help at all.
I took ECON 102 with her last semester so I am used to her style! The trick is that you need to come to review classes and also short-answer questions were hard part but some of them are from text book. She post all your grades on Blackboard at the end of semester which I think she could do it earlier. I LIKE HERE ALL IN ALL
I like this professor. she is very good
Maybe one of the worst professors I have ever taken! She does not take attendance, so dont bother to show up because even if you do you still will do bad, she doesnt know how to teach she only reads off her slides. She cant even answer the homework questions so if you want a good grade or to learn DO NOT TAKE HER!!
The review class is very helpful and short-answer questions were based on her review. I like her because she used daily examples to make the material understandable. Overall, a nice person too.
TAKE ANY PROFESSOR BUT HER!!! Her test structure is terrible, 25 multiple choice that are worth 50% and 3 short anwers that are worth 15-20 points each, most students in my class did terrible because she took off soo many points from short answers, Worst professor i had in my four year of college! If you want a good grade dont take her.
material isn't hard but her exams are awful. 3-4 short answer that she grades at whim (meaning its different for every person) and 30-35mc that she takes from the hw. you just pray you remember the right things from the hw because like your grade, its a hit or miss on a dartboard. Hw is 50-80 questions per chap and you run thru 8-10 chapters
Beyond perfect. She makes the complex simple. Her class makes you confident in your abilities. This is because it is a bit challenging, but very doable . Easy to reach and very kind. On a personal note, she purchased the text book and a software for a student can not afford them.
A really amazing person. She explains everything to her students with real-world examples. Always willing to help if you want to improve. Loves and respects her students.
Great professor
The class really isn't that difficult as people thought. She is a nice lady
helps out a few students on tests by letting them know something is wrong on their test but for the rest of the class she doesn't say a word. The short response questions are the biggest hit to our tests is unfair, and her reviews are garbage. She can't teach, her test reviews are awful, spent almost a whole class on one question. Do not recommend
She's fine. Read the textbook and do the sample test she provided and you will do well. ATTEND HER REVIEW SESSIONS!!!
WORST PROFESSOR, DON'T TAKE HER
TBH she's not the best teacher. If you study the slides, do the review sheet, and attend the review session, you should be able to score good on the exams. I do recommend you attend the classes because she know the students that show up everyday from those who don't. Just focus on passing the class. Your grade is based on the hws and the exams.
One of the if not the worst professors for Economics. First of all she went to China during finals weeks gave us nothing to study rather then a “sample test” which covered nothing on the test. Was late to class daily and leaves 20 minutes to use the bathroom. Makes you look bad or dumb when asking a question. Doesn't offer help don't take this!!!!!
