To be honest, I think she was helpful. When you email her about questions or help, you always get a prompt reply and she makes sure you fully understand and gives you some ideas, if you are really lost with writing a paper. Goes out of her way to help.

She was very helpful and i can guarantee an A in her class if just a little effort is put into the work she assigns. SHe gives you MORE THAN enough time to complete your assignments such as essays. And she is always available for help any time you need it.I give this teacher two thumbs UP!**********

I've taken a class with her twice now. Very sweet teacher.. if you pay attention in her class, it's an easy A. Even though we did sometimes get off topic, still thought she was a good teacher.

I have taken two english courses with her. She is the best! she is very helpful and understanding. To be very honest i really enjoyed her both classes, even though her lectures were bit boring. I recommend you to take a class with her.

I keep taking her & I don't know why. I got B in both classes but i think i took her because shes maddd weird. i went to class only 5 times, she lets you do the papers over and over again, and shes late 24/7. took her because shes laid back. you can get an A if you take the time to write papers over

If you want an EASY A take her! Never in my life will I have an easier A. Don't be one of those stupid kids and copy essays of the internet though, cause you will not be the first one to flunk. Read the web at home, write essay in class ... easy A !

She was constantly late, talked about nothing but politics (our final paper was even on the 2004 elections), she called our class illiterate because we dont read the washington post. despite her annoying and irrelevant lectures, i got an a...its a VERY easy class...

This teacher is very ‘different’. She is always late, leave the classroom all the time and talks about politics a lot. Despite that I think her classes can be pretty interesting if you really listen to what she is saying and participate in the class. It is easy to get an A.

really liked her, very disorganized and wastes a lot of class time but essays arent bad, due whenever you wanna hand em in, and she lets you rewrite them. going to try to take her again. hope she doesnt talk about Bush so much next time though. I'd like to see any of these teachers try to run the country when they have trouble running a classroom

Nice, intelligent, loves and encourages debate, and most importantly cares more for a student's writing proficiency than meeting deadline. Most of the complaints are from students tuned out on anything other than MTV.A bit disorganized, yes, but will go out of her way to inprove your writing!!

About her being Hot everyone must think am crazy. Well that I have your attention, you can't use the word hot but she look kind. Everyone say that she is boring and talk a lot about bush but if you need an A she would give it to you if you at lease try. She is very helpful and I learn a lot from her. I learn how to cite, very important in college.

Mrs. Ashkenas is an extremely helpful professor, you may not like her politics and the classes may lean towards boring, but for the student who wants an A and gives an easy effort and looks to her for input and advice, you will get the A. She will help you pass the course and get a great grade. I am taking her ENG251 in the fall.

I take offense to the moron who said complaints are from people "tuned out on anything other than MTV." Just because I don't want a professor to bash my President the entire class period,and give one sided interpretations of what is going on in the international community, does not mean I am not interested in politics. Took her again for 112 and it was another good experience. Easy grader and very helpful, plus you can rewrite essays for a better grade. The only english teacher I took, so I can't compare her to others, but I would be surprised if she wasnt the easiest and most entertaining. Got an A in both 111 and 112.

she's a nice lady! she is helpful and knows what she's talking about, i mean she knows about everything and very good at critiqueing and advising. a bit boring but veery helpful so u have great chance of getting As and Bs. she's a lovely lady.

If you wana 've an A, she will give you if you at lease try. And if you get a C in her class which would be a rear case; you would need to go back to elementry school, cuz u cann't survive nowhere. She is helpful, energetic, and a kind person who look and understand your efforts on the final paper.

Upon first glance this teacher can seem rude but her teaching style is very gracious. Always up for discussion and very patient. Papers aren't hard to do plus she is very lenient on handing them in. Allows students to eat/drink in class which was a little uncomfortable but overall, an enjoyable class and I don't like english classes that much. :)

Easy grader

I don't understand why people are rating this teacher very low. I took her several times because she is an easy grader. I got B's in ENG 101 and ENG 202 with her. I coud have gotten A's with a little more effort. She looks serious, but she is a VERY easy grader. English is my second language and I got good grades in her class. She is EASY; guys!!!

She makes you watch movies and write essays about them;instead of reading boring books. During the semester only 2-3 assignments are given, and you are allowed to re-write them for a better grade. If you take her during the summer, she will give you only one assigment. The lowest grade she gives it's a "B". Attendance is NOT mandatory; TAKE HER!!

I took her in Eng 112, and 251 and found her as a good teacher. Easy grader.

Professor Ashkenas is clearly very intelligent and probably cares more about her students than any other professor I've ever had. While she is an easy grader, good writing skills and an active imagination are still must-haves if you want an 'A'.

She is good. Lets you re-write essays. I wrote an essay, really said nothing of importance and got a B. Very easy on grading, she says she will be hard on grading at beginning but shes really not. No tests. No mid-term. She is always late that is true. Interesting but sometimes it can be boring. I would recommend her over all.

She is an easy teacher. You dont ever have to attend her class but as long as you turn in your essays then you're gonna pass. She's very boring and always gets off topic and talks about politics or something else. However she is biased. If you dont wanna go to class and still get an A then take her!

Got an A. She really helps you out, she basically gives you everything your going to need for the final paper. Make sure you listen to directions and take her in the fall and not the spring. It's a lot easier. Good luck.

She is one of da best ENG professors i have ever had..in dis class u only write three main essays and da final research paper..for every paper you write, she will tell u exactly what she s looking for and u can can also re-write papers for better grades..i would definetly recommend her..especially if english is not ur first language..got an A

She was the most helpful and easiest professor I've ever had. I turned in average papers at first but she helped me write better. Even though her lectures are really boring its important to go to them because she gives lots of information and pretty much writes the paper for you.

She is a very intelligent and capable English professor. I enjoyed her lectures alot. Many people didn't like her class because she talks about politics most of the time. She grades fairly. This is not an easy course if you don't like writing. she gives great feedback on assignments in writing. I learnt alot from her. She is often late though.

I def liked Ms Ashkenas, I don't understand why people rate her low. She was very easy and the class is chill, never much to do. Just have class discussions. She can be condescending at times but its still a good class. Id def recommend her for any english class

I have taken 2 classes with her. Getting an "A" is easy Gives 3 essay assignments for the whole semesters, works with you on correcting them to get a better grade, and even lets you turn them in when you're done, doesn't care when! Just read the few books she assigns, care about what you write, come to class, and you'll get an A!

She is awesome! Very funny and open to discussion. We got to choose what we wrote about out of a list she made for us. She is an easy grader but makes notes on how to better your paper. An easy and enjoyable class but still taught me how to better myself as a writer.

This was a summer course and the literature selected was interesting. However, the professor was sometimes unclear and used films as a "babysitter" for the students. We wrote three essays and she gave you the chance to re-do it and that'll calculate your final grade in the end. Overall, a quick but easy class.

Easy A - 3 papers can re-write for 1 grade better. She's a really nice woman and the class isn't intensive...she likes to compare classical themes to modern movies like lord of the rings. Take the class if you want the A but not if you wanna get in depth w/the literature - takes attendance

Okay yes she isn't the best but she is easy as long as you do the papers. She cares, and extends time if needed and she lets you do rough drafts and such. Great teacher if you put the effort and do the RD and get feedback from her.

Easy class. Three papers and you can rewrite them if needed. You watch plenty of movies and the writings are on both movie AND books! So make sure you read the assigned books because most of assignments are on book reading and you have to quote from them. She is a stickler about using proper grammar and staying within same tense! I liked her.

Very easy class, nice, caring lady. I took her in the summer, 2013. You read 2 books and write an essay on each book with direct quotations from each book and the third essay can be on a movie from her list of choices. YOU HAVE TO READ THE BOOKS SHE ASSIGNS!
