Terrific teacher! This professor employed all the proper techniques for quality instuction. Her utilization of classroom media (computers) was wonderful. I enjoyed her web-site, field trip, and immersion in Hispanic countries and cultures.

I liked how she spoke in only Spanish because it really hones the students spanish speaking skills in hearing it constantly. I would definitely try to have her for future spanish classes.

she's great teacher, soft voice. She always speaks Spanish in class, no English allow. I was afraid to come to class at first, because it's all in Spanish and I can't understand Spanish that well. She made me feel more confident taking her class. If you have any questions, ask her, she'll help you.

Pretty easy, make sure you listen in class and do homework

On first day I was scared, but it turned out to be easier because she is helpful and undersanding. The test were not bad if you go to the classes and participate.

Denise has a love for Spanish and for humanity, and it shines through in her classes. She is kind, helpful, and most importantly, a clear and thorough teacher. She takes great care to assure that everyone in her class who WANTS to learn, WILL learn. She is somewhat strict, and justly expects reciprocation of the effort she puts into her classes.

If you want a teacher whose goal is for you to learn the language and the culture then take her class. Her method of teaching makes you really understand the language. She is the sweetest and most caring person i know. Just make sure to do ALL your work and RESPECT her and you are good to go! I wish she was teaching 280!!!

I took this class back in fall of 02' and she was pretty good then. I guess she's still good now. Take her if you want to have some fun with Spanish and not someone else who'll give you a hard time. I got an A in this class

Denise is awsome! her class is really fun, just make sure you participate so you get the most out of the class (and points). She teaches so well that before you know it you will be able to understand spanish anywhere. If you ask for help she is very thorough in awswering.Her class is pretty easy, just make sure to do the homework and its a breeze.

Good teacher. she speaks in spanish the entire time for honors: great if you already speak spanish like half the class! be conscious, show up to class, its important that you do all teh homework and then no problem doing well.

She is a good teacher, and you can tell she puts effort into educating the students. Very helpful, always answers questions thoroughly. I thought class did get a bit slow and monotonous at times, and you do have to dedicate a lot of time to homework and studying, but it pays off in being able to understand spanish.

Denise is excellent! you can understand the language just by coming to class and participating. She goes out of her way to help students who seek it, and is extreamly clear! However, be prepared to participate and give 110%--its part of your grade! Other than that the class is cake, just work hard and put forth your best effort! best prof ever :)

Very easy and helpful. Do the homework and study and you will be fine. I learn more from her in 1 semester than in 4 years of high school. Totally recommend her for GPA booster and gain some knowledge on Spanish.

Don't take if you're not serious about school work. Makes you print all assignments. Keeps you in until the last minute. Tests are easy if u study. Lots of class participation. Grade is affected after 2nd absence. Keeps track of tardies, even if it's just 2 minutes. Plenty of xtra credit. Fun excursion and food fiesta I love spanish & the class.

She is really cool. Tests are hard. But I learned more in her class then my 3 years of spanish in High school combine. And its a summer secession. LOTS AND LOTS OF hw. But its worthwile. REally sweet teacher.

This class is a 5 unit course and let me tell you, it was such a hassle. I would say that I passed this class due to the fact that I had taken a similar course in high school. I wouldn't say that this class is easy for non-native speakers. Attendance is mandatory. Class is taught in all Spanish. The online homework is tedious and pointless.

However, there are extra credit opportunities, if you're willing to do the work. If not, then go to class. She is amazing and really cares. Don't expect everything to be handed to you either, you're in college now.

This teacher was awesome and sweet. The class is all in Spanish so if you have taken Spanish before then it isn't all that bad. You use the textbook every class and she grades on participation. Very enthusiastic and dedicated. One homework packet for each Chapter-instead of writing each exercise in the book. An EASY quiz betwen 10-15 points every week. Keeps track of how often you participate so you earn your grade. Exams are difficult but if you study they aren't too bad. Very helpful.

Absolutely LOVED her! Because you learn language by hearing/speaking it, attendance is of course mandatory. You may miss an equivalent of 3 class periods; she tracks when you're late. Gives participation points. LOTS of chances for extra credit. No English allowed until last 10 minutes, but she teaches so that you can understand EVERYthing.

I took spanish 180H and 185H with her and it made me want to major is spanish! So helpful and organized. She is truly interested in her students learning how to speak spanish. There is homework, but it is not too difficult and very important.

Kind of crazy b/c she is SOO damn particular about things. She treats the class like we are still in elementary school. Her syllabus is 9 pages long! If you are late, she calculates how many minutes you are late and deducts your grade from that much. This is supposed to be an honors class, but she treats the students like they are in 3rd grade.

She is unbelievably dedicated to her work. I love that she provokes such interesting discussions during class. She is always ready to respond to your needs and is one of the BEST Spanish teachers.

I took Denise for a couple semester. By far the greatest teach OCC has to offer! she is actually cares about you!! expect a research paper for each class, and tests that directly reflect the homework. how much easier can class get? I just don't hae a ear for language so it felt harder than it actually was.

I came into the class knowing very little conversational spanish, but if you stick with it you will see your brain change. I looked forward to this class. Don't be discouraged and make sure you're in the right class level! One of the more rewarding classes I had at OCC.

Denise Cabanel-Bleuer is an excellent professor. I have enjoyed her class very much. The honors class is not an easy class, but it is not supposed to be easy. If you come into this class with the right mindset, you will do fine. You will be required to speak Spanish in this class. English is only allowed in the last 5 or 10 minutes.

What a wonderful woman. Really cares about the subject and your success. The class isn't harder than any other spanish class that I've taken, even as an honors class. Not the GREATEST class in the world, but only because she is like a mother, and has that nurturing style of teaching. Makes you feel at home.

First impression wasn't great but I ended really enjoying her class and teaching style. Going in with no Spanish experience and being lectured in Spanish for 2 & 1/2 hours was a bit overwhelming, but she makes it easy to follow along. Essentially, lots of work but it's all organized for the students. Dedicate time each day to practice & show up to class willing to participate, and you'll have a great experience!

Such a lovely person and is very caring towards her students. Always participate and keep up to date with assignments! Her tests are not that hard as long as you listen to her lectures. This class is a little bit of a struggle at times but it's not difficult to get an A either.

She assigned a lot of homework from time to time, but if you listen to her lectures and used the textbook for help then it wouldn't be a big deal. Her lectures are really long and do get boring. Some lectures felt like a waste of time and it was more helpful to teach the material to myself. Other than that she's a very sweet and understanding prof.

She gives you a somewhat of a good foundation for the Spanish language. One of the main issues that I had with this class is she doesn't give you the tools needed to learn the vocab. The homework system was confusing and you couldn't see your grade unless you used her formula on google sheets. She offered a lot of extra credit which saved my grade.

Profesora Cabanel-Bleuer is a great teacher with a lenient honors course for those looking to learn Spanish. Although you will be turning in a lot of homework, most of it is simple and straightforward. Very nice and understanding about learning speeds differing between students. An awesome teacher to start Spanish with or without prior experience.

Extremely caring and understanding of slow learners. She'll explain anything that anyone is confused about and try to not leave any student behind. She made learning Spanish fun using music, colorful presentations, jokes, etc. Small class size meant she could know us as individuals. I miss her class already, she was very kind. I loved taking this class and feel like she is a wonderful choice for professor. I think my issues with the class were more personal, as I was taking zoom classes at night when I would've rather been eating or going to bed. Profesor Cabanel-Bleuer is one of the most nicest and patient professor's I have ever met! I always had a question, and she always answered it with a smile and a positive attitude! She allows late work sometimes. She also has a handful amount of homework not going to lie, but if you lock in, you'll get it done in an hour or less!
