Has a small accent, but kind of sexy; her class is tough.
worst teacher on the planet, take her if u want to fail and butcher your GPA. and its not just me either!
She is very clear. I think she is perfect teacher. You know what to study for the test.
I agree take her if u want to kill ur GPA her test has plenty of material, and the notes will make a textbook itself.
She is a Hard teacher but at the same time a very good teacher. You need her if you want to be successful.
shes strict & tough but in a good way. Very clear in the material. If u pay attention & do ur work it's not so difficult
Very intelligent and intimidating...but very clear and and overall great professor!
She's the easiest teacher ever! She's clear and gives great notes. Her tests are straight from her notes and books. You just have to seriously study by memorizing the problems on the book to get an A. She's a really fair grader! She's really really nice too...she'll be there when u need help..Take her if u want an A
It will be a waste of your money to purchase the bio book, because Prof. Chung makes you write 5 page notes, which are straight from the book. I haven't opened the book once, and all her tests were based on the notes she gave us. However, her tests are long are tricky so beware!!
I think she is a good person but not necessarily a good professor, she makes you copy and copy and copy notes and she explains but her classes are incredibly boring. It seems you will never finish tudying for her tests, her exams are ridiculously long. Thank God she is not a hard grader otherwise I am sure positive comments about her wouldn't exist
What can I say, she's amazing!
I heard she is very good for chem, but try to avoid her for bio. She gives very detailed notes, and her tests are based 95% on her notes. Her tests are very hard and long. She also adds lecture material to the lab exams. Her final is new material + multiple choice from all past exams, so basically its cumulative. She is fair & not a tough grader.
i had Dr.Chung for Bio 3 and i think that she is the best teacher ever. yeah, her test are long, and 95% of her exam is from lecture notes but all you had to do is memorize everything and you'll do just fine. It worked for me!!!!...^_^
Very amazing
Very nice woman. Easy to understand and provides clear explanations. She dictates a lot of notes, so be prepared to write. Listen closely to her lectures when she mentions to look up something in the textbook. It'll almost always be on the test. Memorize your notes and you'll do great on the exams.
Liar!! she always say 95% are from th notes but the truth is that she never does it. She makes u study more than all professors, and DONT curve, even if the whole class fail. I dont recommend her to any body who want to pass
I made the mistake of taking chemisrty in the summer with her. First day of class she insulted all liberal arts majors by stating that they had to dumb down the textbooks b/c we're not that great in science. Thanks, such as vote of confidence but her grading is something only she will understand.
shes a smart woman n knoes what shes teaching i havent opened the book so at all..u will write 6 pages of notes in 50 min.. her tests are long..study hard memorize everything n ull do good
her tests are extremely long she says itz all from the notes but iits not u gotta reas the book n memorize all te details
Took her for Bio3.... she's a great teacher but her tests are hard....you need to memorize all her notes + the book.... its tough but do-able.
she is the best take her and memorize your notes and youll end up with A
i like this prof. she gives a lot of notes and explains her notes very quickly. you have to write down the notes really quickly. however, she explains everything if you ask her. really nice. exams are okay if you study and do the hw problems. study the worked examples she gives you. i would recommend her to incoming chem 03 students.
prof. Chung is pretty tough. she is really serious and you WILL write about 5-6 pages of straight notes each class!!! If your writin notes you're not listening to her n if you're listening, you're not writing notes. i jus dropped her class cuz it wasnt for me. oh yeah n her test are REALLY long n hard!
Took her for the summer and she is intense..she works you so hard and doesn't have time to slow down and rewiew..I DO NOT RECOMMEND HER AT ALL!
She gives amazing, detailed notes and her tests are EXACTLY the homework questions with different numbers. As long as you do all the homework questions, you're golden. She was definitely one of my favorite teachers I took.
Not a bad teacher, she is very difficult but i believe in the end she is ok. i heard she is better for chem than bio but dont take my word for it
IF you want to ruin your GPA, take her :) otherwise, turn the f*ck around
dont take her she will ruin your gpa.
my hand used to hurt every time i stepped out of this class with the immense amount of notes i had to write. she is mart but tough. i studied my butt off butt only got a b-. dont let her be your first option, maybe third...or last!
Dr. Chung is the best! Though her class can be difficult, she is always willing to help. Tests are often similar to h/w questions so make sure you know your stuff! I would totally totally recommend!
terrible she ruined my gpa and her class is very complicated because you don't know what to study. tests are extremely hard.
She does not have an accent. Her tests are difficult. You better know the material!
SHES OKAY SHE WRITES ON THE BOARD WHICH IS OKAY BUT SHE WRITES ALOT SO YOURE HANDS WILL HURT I RECOMMENT RECORDING HER YOU MUST STUDY FOR HER EXAMS THEY ARE NOT EASY SHES VERY SMART
Wonderful professor!!!!! She writes a lot it makes your hand hurt. But if you study your notes and read the book it will be a breeze. Labs are easy!
She gives detailed notes. She is a good chem and bio professor.
if you have done something wrong in your life this is karma getting back at you! RUN PHARMACY STUDENTS, RUNNNNN! if you like a professor where the whoe lass is falling asleep, and you need to pay another grand for a tutor then by all means take her. her tests give people anxiety! if you ont do it her way its wrong! (her way is the hardest!
Dr Chung is a very linear and intelligent individual. She only cares about covering all the material on time and likes to tell students to withdraw her class. If the student doesn't get the answers her way, she marks it wrong after students spent thousands of dollars on private tutoring.
will make you write forever. She's cute though.
Tests are tough, she's hot.
Inspirational, lectures are very long, hope she liked me, because I found her to be very motivating.
Her tests are extremely hard, but that doesn't neccessarily makes her a bad professor. In fact, she gives out other opportunities to pass the class such as labs, essays, and extra credit opportunity. Personally I failed every exam poorly, including the final, but did well on the labs and essays. & I received a C-
Horrible !!!!! Don't take her she's horrible she has no sympathy and she's just to hard and I I'll tell u to drop the course .... She is the reason why I have chemistry anxiety . I don't know why liu hires such professors !!! I repeat don't take her u will end up failing or getting a UW
Hard professor, learned a lot though.
Great professor! Lectures are long and exams may be tough, but chemistry is not easy and you get the grade you studied for. Make sure to do all the homework and review every question she does in class. Take good notes and just study hard and you'll be fine. She is a very smart lady, and I was glad to have her.
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR. Im great at chemistry. I have an A in both orgo and chem 4 but i retook her for CHM3 and she is worst than my last teacher. She has zero sympathy for her students, she makes you write like 15 pages of notes a day and doesn't care if half the class takes a UW. She's mean and her tests are super tough. Honestly, a waste of time.
She WRITES a lot on the board, but just read her notes and the textbook and you will pass the exams! EVERYTHING IS IN DETAIL, but she knows what she is talking about! Any questions you have, just ask and she will give you a response!
Honestly, the people saying she'll ruin your GPA are people that don't study/ don't do homework questions. Chemistry is hard enough and if you're like me and didn't study for the tests, you won't pass. You MUST do homework and study. You earn what you work for which is what she says continuously. Doesn't offer extra credit. This class is no joke
Very good lecturer. She writes clear notes on the board and gives you time to write them down, which is good and important in a biology class. She assigns homework for every unit but she is flexible about due dates. She gives you test questions ahead of time. Very clear and willing to answer questions.
Honestly she's a good person, but can not teach to save a life. You literally have to teach yourself because there is no time to learn in class, want to know why? From the second she walks in until time is up, she will write on the board not taking a breather for a single second. I'm warning you know your hand will hurt. And it's A LOT of material.
She is not a bad professor but you 100 percent HAVE to work for your own grade. I am NOT a chem person, like I'm horrible at it and don't understand it and with excessive studying and youtube videos was able to do fine. She says that she doesn't curve anything but she curves your final grade one letter point.
This woman is off the chain, she is very smart but her teaching method is not good. Too much material covered in class!
God where to begin, her notes are insaneeeeee she is so terrible I repeat do not take her class if youre stuck between her and matsunaga like I was I recommend you holding chem 3 and 4 for the summer and take donohughe god shes miserable. Her exams are brutally hard if you fail more than 2 of them might as well take a UW cause she will fail you.
RUN AWAY WHILE YOU CAN!!! She literally is the worst chem prof in the whole school. Her lectures are so bad, she goes so fast and puts nothing up on blackboard so you have to take notes 10 mph. Her tests are insanely hard. They're only 6 questions and worth like 30 pts a question. She doesnt give the whole time either, just 1 hr then lectures after
HORRIBLE!! She makes you write notes for the entire lecture non stop. She just keeps writing and writing, does not stop to explain a thing. She gives a lot of homework. Expects you to know everything.
It's easy to pass this course with Chung as long as you do all of the work assigned and attend class regularly. Get ready to write a lot in lecture and pay attention and you'll do fine. Do not buy the textbook right away for this course, you have to pay $130 for the connect assignment version of the textbook a bit later in the semester.
All I can say is save yourselves. You will cry...
Dr. Chung is an insanely intelligent professor. She knows exactly what she's doing. This course however is not for the lazy type. She will make sure you take it with the seriousness it deserves. Professor Chung has a lecture type style in which she makes you take ALOT of notes. You should study these notes frequently.
Her bio class is only difficult if you don't put in the effort. Take time to read the textbook, do all the assignments & study for exams early instead of at the last minute. During lectures, sit at the front & write everything. Don't buy the textbook right away, instead wait for her to send the connect assignment ebook version & buy that instead.
I received grades ranging from the 70s to the high 90s on the exams, but I also did the other necessary work. Professor was extremely lenient with my overall grade, and I still believe that I don't deserve my grade. For anyone thinking of taking her class, take her if you can study, because you'll need to earn your grades.
She is very clear on her expectations and grading policy on the first day of class. She gives ALOT of notes and the tests questions can be based on the smallest detail so get ready to memorize everything. Her lectures were clear and long in the beginning, but as we ran out of time, she would just send the slides and tell us to read the textbook.
Pretty great professor honestly. She seems intimidating but she cares and is really nice. Just attend her class, take down the notes and be prepared to STUDY. The smallest piece of information that doesn't seem important will DEFINITELY show up on a test. Overall I do recommend taking her. Her class isn't hard and you just need to put the work in
She teaches the class so that the kid with the lowest level of understanding for the topic will get it, which gives those who know the material a bit of a breather, and won't stress out those who need a little help. She communicates very well out of class too. Just make sure you study and read the book, you'll be fine if you do!
I took her in quarantine so take my review with a grain of salt (she wasny all that good in person anyways). The worst chem teacher ive ever taken. Its like she acts like she cares but she truly doesnt. My grade is so bad that im afraid to look at it, thats why i rather not say.
At first, after reading all of the other ratings I was a bit scared because they weren't too good and I wanted to switch to another professor, but I gave her a chance and she turned out to be so nice. She seems and looks very serious but she is so nice. Took her for BIO 1
took her for bio 1. Take her if u are not so good at Biology, trust me! She explains the material so well. For first exam, I literally got an F Because of her lecture and personal notes, I managed to get an A in her class. Her exams are based on her connect hw and her personal notes. Just focus on connect, end of chapter questions, and her notes!!
I had her for chem4 lab and she was really good. She explained everything very well and I honestly think that was my first chem lab where I understood what I was doing. If you see her for lab take her she's really great.
She is amazing at teaching and answering questions. Her grading policies are very clear and fair. She is really caring and tries to make accommodations as much as she possibly can. She makes class interesting. If you review your notes and her slides thoroughly and study really hard, youll pass with a good grade.
Professor Chung was a very good professor who helped reinforce ideas learned through lecture. She provides additional lecture slides on top of the textbook required for Bio which resemble the questions asked during tests. The lab experiments/assignments aren't difficult at all, about 10 of them, 1 group presentation, 3 tests I think. Study hard
Take Professor Chung for chem lab if you can! She does detailed lectures before every lab that help with not only completing the experiments but also the pre-lab on your own. She provides up to one or two weeks to complete every data sheet + pre-lab. She gives detailed feedback on the mistakes you make in your work and grades very fairly.
Very intelligent, but difficult. Lectures are lengthy and super quick. You won't be able to take all the notes in class. Tests will give questions you least expect. Save yourself because homework is done on McGraw Hill connect which is not free. She really doesn't care about your feelings either.
ok so mixed opinions about her. i had her only for lab, but she taught the material very well. shes very smart. her tests are based off of her lecture notes, so copy them down. her tests were SOOO specific, like what is the size of lipids. make sure to study for her exams for lab. overall shes nice and gives a lot of lab reports as well.
She teaches very fast and her test are very specific
I had Denise for online Nutrition and Wellness (HS340). One of the worst professors I have ever had. If you want a good grade expect to study for at least 50+ hours before any test, which then takes weeks to get your grade back. She also assigns papers for fun but waits as long as possible before grading them. STAY AWAY FROM HER AS A PROFESSOR.
Denise is a great teacher. She just expects you to know a lot of material. Her exam can range from 60-80 questions. She gives you at least a week or more notice prior to exams. I would recommend taking notes in class and review them as soon as she goes over the chapter because it can get overwhelming. Be ready to write a lot of notes and study
Tests are super-specific and pure memorization. Quizlet saved my grade. She just reads off slides but gives you access to them so you can follow along. The homework is part of the online textbook you have to pay for, and the homework is long, but you have about a week to do each assignment.
very harsh
Her exams are very hard, and they're based on the textbooks. They're precise and complicated for no reason. Professor Chung is knowledgeable, but she shouldn't make her exams that hard. If you only study from her slides, you will fail her class. DON'T TAKE HER!!!!!!!!
just dont do it
dont take her there are other teachers that are way easier!!! honesty if she's your only option wait till next semester, someone told me not to take but since she had a 3.4 I said what's the worst she could be. It was a bad, her homework assignment take sometimes 3 hours her test are 80-100 questions no curve on her exams.
THE WORST professor I've encountered at LIU. No exaggeration. First class I failed at LIU. Attendance is mandatory, lectures are boring and uninformative. 4 or 5 exams with 60-80 in depth multiple choice questions. Connect assignments take 3-4 hours. No curve, no extra credit. Do not take her. Save yourself the time, stress, and money.
The lectures is just her reading her 100 slide powerpoints. You are only graded of exams, connect, and attendance. Connect will take so long to do but wont even help you for the exam. Exams are 60-80 multiple choice and true/false questions. A lot of people would do badly on exams and she will not do anything or curve.
Her powerpoints are indeed a heavy load and she adds a lot of extra notes each class. She just lectures the entire hour and fifteen minutes but she is straight forward and exams are based on her notes and lecture. Just write all the notes down and use repetition. You will be fine. She curves the grading system at the end. Connects do take hours.
Had her for lab and lecture. Highly recommend her for both. Super knowledgeable, dedicated, good teacher, and answers emails quickly. Although her exams are long, she gives a review sheet. I recommend doing the connect asap and sit in the front!!!
Pls save urself. Shes a really nice person but exams were hard and the test were material heavy
Do not take her. Her exams are long and complicated for no reason, they are designed to be complicated and make you get a low grade. Connect assignments will take 3-4 hours and won't even help with the exams. Just not worth the time and money, take a different prof.
Yk how people say 'the exams are based on the textbook'... yeah she's the epitome of that. If you're good at memorizing, take her. She can and will test you with the most random lines in the textbook. The exams have nothing to do with the lectures, interesting as they may be. Some of the connect and end-of-chapter questions are on the test.
Pick someone else honestly. Connects will take up sm hours. She very nice but her exams are very annoying and specific. Just dont do it to yourself.
Please do not take this professor if you are not somebody who is already well-immersed in Biology. She complicates her grading criteria to the point where you have to pray you score near perfect results on her back-to-back exams. She will cram 6 chapters into 95 question exams, and is disorganized when making her exams and preparing us to study.
if u dont follow any religion pick one and start praying. the most specific random questions on the exam and will yell at the whole class bc she cant write exams DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE
This class isn't well organized and structured. The things she tells you to study cannot prepare you for the type of questions she puts on exams. They are too specific and nitty gritty, so it feels like they're coming from her brain more than trying to understand our brain. Highly exam based and 95 questions per exam, so lots of room for error.
