WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dr. D is a good teacher in regards to the fact that she knows what she is talking about. However, her teaching skills can be refined. She doesn't have very good speaking skills. She doesn't relate the information to the students in a way that any one could understand. She taught directly from the text word for word.
Good teacher, but was a little strict on her student grading system. A study guide would have helped alot with test and quiz prep. Every note and lecture was to broad of a subject to fully understand. She definitley knew the material, but she had a higher standards of what she felt we all knew, but you can only explain so much in an hour.She's ho

She is one the worst teachers I have ever had. She reads directly off of the powerpoints which are all 100 slides long for each chapter and there are at least 4 chapters to a book.The objectives relate nothing to the test. Definately do not take her
Denise D"abundo is an excellent professor. You can see, when she teaches; that she has a passion for the field of biology and in turn you use this as motivation. Her tests are not that difficult if you actually use the study guide she gives you, and actually study. I would take her for a class agin if given the opportunity.
Great professor, I really enjoyed this course. Biology has never interested me, but after taking this course I enjoy biology.
Denise teaches practically WORD FOR WORD from the book, HOWEVER, she does asks if anyone has questions and takes the time to help them understand. I have her for both lecture and lab. She's also beautiful, so it's a little hard to miss what she's saying.
She is a good teacher. But the info she is teaching is hard. She does a good job explaining the info. You have a lot of online homework to do! the tests for the class are from the bio department so they have nothing to do with her. She is a good teacher though!

Great teacher! Tried to make things easy to understand. Did not test on any material she didn't cover!..easy class IF you are the kind of student who actually goes to class, Pays attention, and does the homework required!
She really wants all her students to pass however don't slack off. Strict tests, notes galore, lots of stuff to study from. At least she's hot.
She does not seem to care about getting the subject across to the students, and she is not available for help when she says she is. Do not take her.
She makes the information much easier to understand. You will always have a lab to do, so if your a visial learner shes awesome! You have to attend class or else you will be lost.

She is very rude at times. She does not answere questions clearly and even makes faces for asking questions, very rude and embarassing. Go for a teahcer who treats hardworking respectful students with respect.
Doesn't explain anything, and if you ask a question, she'll literally tell you she doesn't know. Can't explain anything in a way that anyone can understand. Don't teach, just holds the book and reads from it. If you like being confused and don't care about your grade, take her. Otherwise, schedule someone else!
She is very kind and caring, but her teaching style was quite hard to follow. She uses power point presentation and MYBIOLOGYLAB too.

I took her class last semester, but due to power outage we missed one week. She kinda rushed through it but I couldn't understand her, she just went through the slides without explanations. The assignments are very easy though.
This is the worst professor I have ever had. Seems to me she's not sure what she's teaching as weird as that sounds. I would definitely stay away from this class if optional.
Dr. D'abundo is not the easiest/most interesting teacher to understand lecture wise. However, if you study well and pay somewhat attention in class there's no way you won't do well. You're an idiot if you think this class is hard, I don't know how much easier a college class can get. Your grade completely reflects your efforts in this class.
Terrible professor. She gives no notes, just struggles through powerpoints. She's very nice but she's a very bad instructor and doesn't convey what she's trying to teach at all.
Prepare to do a LOT of reading from the textbook because she doesn't teach at all. Her lectures are exceedingly confusing and she just skips around powerpoints. The tests are extremely difficult because she just expects you to have a strong understanding of the material despite her sub-par instruction.
So hard to understand. Acts like she doesn't even know the material. This is my first failed class. What a waste of my time and money.
This was her first time teaching 120 Lab and you could tell she needed some time to figure out how to teach it. There is a quiz every class period about last weeks lab. Just take good notes and prepare to put in some effort. Its not an easy class so do not take it if you if your not willing to put in the effort. Study the quizzes for the tests too.
Hated this rude woman. She came to class with a bad attitude everyday. She ripped up MY homework in front of my face BEFORE A TEST, just because someone was cheating off of it without me looking. Not professional in handling situations
After speaking with many fellow students in 120 she is the only one who gave a studyguide for every test and final exam.BIO 120 at BRCC is rlly hard no matter who you take.I made a barely made a C most ppl failed. she is hard but tries to help you if you show effort all B120 test no matter who you take are the same and hard!STUDY STUDY or fail.
This is the WORST teacher I've ever had! All she does is skip around power points and doesn't teach well at all! All the test dates had to be pushed back because she is very slow and mono-toned! Do not take her! Bio 120 is tough but with a good teacher it is manageable!
She jumps around on power points but is more than happy to answer your questions. Exams are usually pushed back because she gets off topic quite often.
She is very nice, not one mean bone in her body! however, if you want to pass, print out the worksheets she has on blackboard and bring it to class, along with your textbook! those will help you! she started kinda rocky this semester because we got new textbooks with new material, but just print the worksheets and study the textbook!
Mrs D is a very nice professor. She tries to work with you if you have any questions. Always print out worksheets on blackboard and bring text book to class. Even though she's not yah confident in her teaching I think those worksheets help and also studying. Her class wasn't bad at all like my first bio class. Also come to class every day she grades 150 for participation and attendance
Dr D is a good teacher, I highly recommend her. She makes sure you understand everything before moving on and takes her time to explain. If you have the option take her for lab, both are easy A just make sure you do all your homework and come to class, that's the majority of your grade

Unlike some of the reviewers here, I thoroughly enjoyed Dr. D's lectures. She clearly loves biology and teaching it to people, which is something I love in a professor. Her tests might seem difficult to people who don't attend lectures, but if you listen, do the homework, and participate, you'll find this class is easy and interesting.
nice lady but she hardly every goes over the worksheets she has on bb. goes over half and skips around. do well on the my labs stuff and read ur book plus go to class and participate it worth 25 percent of ur grade.
I was somewhat interested in BIO before, but I am definitely not interested in it now. This was unfortunately a requirement for my major. PAINFULLY boring class. 25% of your grade is attendance. Very unenthusiastic lectures and ONLY lectures. Read from the book and did worksheets the every class. She has no personality. So happy it's over.
This class was horrid.. She gives worksheets you're suppose to fill out as she lectures.. But you can barely keep up! If you ask her what she said, she won't answer you. She'll make you do it & if you don't know it, well forget bout it. I wouldn't advise taking her if you're bad at bio.
She's very knowledgeable about this subject and I have to give her points for trying to step outside her comfort zone and encourage more student interaction. However, she is in deed monotone throughout her lectures. Other than that, she basically an easy A if you do your homework, read your chapters and pass your tests.

She's nice, don't get me wrong, but she seems spaced out half the time she's there and doesn't really get to the point of lectures. Be prepared to read on your own and take lots of quizzes and learning curves.
While some comments on here are true about her , I would really take her class again. Its not an easy grade, you will have to work for it and it does require some studying but she is really helpful if you need it and also make sure you come to class everyday.
She talks in a way that makes it very hard to obtain the information that she is teaching. Her guided notes are not material that are on the test. She does not teach in a formal way, it seems to be all over the place as if she doesn't know much about the material she's trying to teach.

The complaints about Dr. D'Abundo are false. I would recommend her bc she is very gentle with grading. She gives 125 participation pts just for showing up. Her homework is on launchpad & is a pain in the neck, but is a MUST. Overall, print out her chapter worksheets bc that & the hw will help you pass her tests. Only hard workers will pass.
She is very weird and expects you to know everything. If I could do it all over i would not take her! Her labs are horrible and she makes things super hard and difficult for a student to pass. If you ask her a simple question about a test she will tell you go look at the syllabus. She is a very tough grader. AVOID her at all cost if you can!!!!!

Expects students to know chapter in detail by her kindergarten work sheets. pushed back exams which left the class not even a week to study for her final. Lastly, her hw is very time consuming & she had a tendency to put it up a day or two before it was due.
her lectures are very boring, be prepared to learn things on your own. all she does is read off of her worksheets. which were not useful when it came to studying for her exam.
it is very easay to make an A if you attend every class, read the chapters, do lanchpad assignment and prepare for the exams. the exams are very easy because all the questions come from textbook and from her worksheet. Those students who gave negative feadback most probably missed a lot of classes and didnt study.
Dr. D is an awesome instructor. She explains everything well, but also expects the student to their part. She generously allows 20% of your final grade to come from attendance/participation. If you go to class (pay attention) and do your homework, the semester should go smoothly. Do the Worksheets also! They make studying easier later on.
She doesn't spoon-feed you the answers. She expects you to study. She expects you to show up to class and learn. She expects you to take notes. She expects you to be prepared for class, as in read ahead before you show up. Teaches students not only biology but also about responsibility. She taught 4 of my classes. Great teacher.
Nice but lectures are very boring and she just reads from the book and her worksheets. I fell asleep on numerous occasions and its not because I was tired it was her teaching style. I enjoy participating in class versus lecture the entire time everyday. I would not take her class again if they paid me to.
The worse professor Ive ever had at brcc. Shes tough of homework never gives the credit you deserve. Her pop quizzes are very hard. Her test are nothing like the study guides. Her lectures are boring. Shes very rude and makes you feel so low. I would never go to her office hours because I wouldnt find her helpful. I would never take her again.
I took her for LAB and she's very monotone (I'm being polite) She grades really hard, tons of pop quizzes that's all fill in the blank and short answer. She gave us a study guide (learning objectives) to study before the test but when we got the test it was nothing like the study guide. DO NOT TAKE HER

Easy class as long as you show up and do the work. She gives you worksheets to fill out during lectures. Those are your notes! She gives lots of extra assignments that allows you more points to pass the class even if you dont do so well on test. Super helpful and truly cares about her students doing well in her class! I would definitely take her!
It'll seem like she cares, but she actually doesn't. It's a teach it yourself class if you plan on passing. Printed notes but they're hard to follow when she's lecturing. A lot of homework online. Goodluck if you plan on taking her class
Super tough grader! Shes veryyy monotone. Shes always rude with answering questions. She expects you to know everything she goes over and to have no questions. Its exactly her answer or its wrong. I would not recommend her to anyone!!!
Took her class and had to drop it. If you don't understand biology, don't take this class. She expects you to already know the material and I promise she doesn't care if you fail the class. You have to print her worksheets out yourself and sometimes it's hard to follow the worksheets. I highly do not recommend.
I had to drop her class i was failing at midterms and i had the flu and went to take my quiz to not get a zero and she told me "no get out of my class. your contaminating everyone . why are you still here? why did you even come."
Horrible Professor, needs to be fired. I could say so many bad things about this teacher but Im going to keep it simple. If you dont pass at least one test you might as well drop. Gives lots of home work and that doesnt do anything when it comes to final grades. DONT TAKE HER!! I took 6 classes and I only failed hers. Think about it.
The tests and the lectures DO NOT go hand in hand so read the chapters and make notes before class. She does not help you "connect the dots" when learning so be prepared to ask for help or seek help elsewhere. The bulk of the grades are tests/final but make sure to do homework to help turn low grades into passing grades.

Overall WORST teacher I've ever had throughout my whole high school and college experience!!!! I was warned by friends about taking her class, but she worked well with my work schedule, so I thought I would give her a shot. WORST MISTAKE EVER! She has the most monotone/boring voice and no emotion at all. People literally fall asleep in class.
I have no words. The lectures and the tests never matched what we were learning in class. It is a bunch of useless information. Save yourself and take Dr. Hackney. She only teaches you the important stuff!! I took professor D'Abundo and made a D but passed with a B in lab! The material overlapped so.. SAVE YOURSELF
Dr. D'Abundo definitely knows her material but her 'delivery' and how she teaches leaves a lot to be desired. She's very abrupt with students and doesn't seem to care. I had to speak with her in her office and it just seemed like I was a bother to her. You must show up & participate to pass the class.
Dr. D does does not care about her students or if they succeed. I would also come see her during her office hours sometimes to get further help but she made me feel like I was a bother. The exams are impossible and the only thing that will save your grade is if you do the homework. I do not recommend taking her class.
The class, in general, is very unorganized. You are given a lecture guide and she doesnt follow the guide word for word. She jumps from one point of the sheet to the next. You are going to need to buy a book to keep up with the online homework. The test is multiple-choice (5 choices instead of the typical 4) averaging about 50 questions per test.
The worst class I have ever had! She does not care about her students and tier the end of the semester she will do her "grading" and drop your grade drastically. She puts no interest into her lectures
Worst teacher i have ever came across. She wont help only give you ugly looks. She also will fail to explain in detail how her grading system works so if you think your passing the class there is a high chance the last week of finals you wont be. she is no help even after she drops ur grade 30 points two days before the final exam
She gives a lot of homework and the worksheets she gives don't make sense. She dropped my grade when exam 3 was not even available yet. The worksheets ask questions that are not useful. Would never take again.
Due to COVID-1, Our class was online. It was so hard and confusing. She made it seem like we were bothering her if we ask the same question over and over again. All she does is explain the PowerPoint, give out so much homework and worksheet that do not make sense. Lastly, the biggest scientific method project is very hard by how she has it made.
This teacher is absolutely horrible!! I have never failed any classes in my life and I take her class and that is the first class I have ever failed! She is an awful teacher and doesnt care about you. Lots of homework and she will never help you. Dont take her! Transfer out and take bio lab brcc has the worst teachers and its sad they ok with it

Its not about the students or whats best for us she is very rude and will never help u her test are nothing like what she goes over she expects you to know everything before u get to her class and if u dont she makes u feel stupid. I am here to warm u not to take this teacher. If u want to struggle and fail then go right ahead if not then dont take her. She is an awful teacher she doesnt know how to explain things and makes u feel dumb for asking questions. She will accuse of doing things that u didnt do and u will never get full credit for anything worst teacher ever!!
To start off dont take her second nothing that u study will be on the test her test are impossible to pass she is not willing to help you learn at all she will make u feel dumb u will not ever get full credit and she takes points off for everything She is a horrible teacher and doesnt need to be teaching I know so many people who have failed her
I took her for lab and also lecture. I would not recommend her at all. She will ask you a question and will make it seem like you are dumb. Also she will never give you full credit for a assignment no matter how hard you worked.
Do not take this Professors' Class. She does not give extra credit or bonus points. In my opinion, her exams do not pertain to any of the heavy reading, adaptive quizzes, discussion questions required to do through this program that grades you for only 5 points. That means if you don't do well on her threatening proctored exams you will not pass.
This is one ignorant bxxxx IN GENERAL. She is such an axxxxxx. Very useless of a professor and this is clearly not the field she needs to be in because I know you hate your job and if you hate it so much than quit instead of being an axx to the students. This is a warning and take at your own risk.
She relies heavily on exam grades and gives no bonus opportunities if you make a bad grade on one exam you're scrambling the rest of the semester to be able to raise your grade. The only advice she gives is to contact the ALC.
Professor D'Abundo doesn't do any kind of lecturing and her worksheets are basically useless. Seriously, don't use them, they don't cover any of the material that will be on the tests. She posts youtube videos from random sources to help you understand the material, and this is the only kind of help you'll get.
I took this class two times. Impossible to pass, even when you do all of the homework and assignments.
At first it felt like I had just been handed her brainstorm of a teaching plan. By the end of it, I had learned so much about the way that I take in information. She provided information about various learning techniques and challenged us to form a study plan as individuals. I'm a better student because of it.... but, respectfully, f*ck this class.
Not sure how people are failing this class. The material is not too complicated. Professor drops MULTIPLE grades at the end of the year. Only complaint is some of the questions are very very tricky and seems like the test are purposefully trying to trick you at times with the way questions are asked. This applies to the weekly assignments as well
I would advise anyone taking this course to always have a glance about a chapter using their worksheets before class. In addition, try to understand concepts and apply them to quizzes and exams. Also, do not cram or memorize topic because you will fail miserably and lastly, ask questions and attend overviews before your next exams for improvement.

This professor is very exam reliant. She does not email back when you have questions. Study guides and work sheets have nothing to do with test. Discussions are worth 3 percent of your overall grade. Not good at all. Taking with a different professor next semester.
Took during summer. No lectures, all readings and filling out worksheets using the textbook and power-points. Syllabus and online coursework organized and easy to follow. She even provides study guides for some of the exams! Willing to meet one on one to discuss more difficult concepts if given notice to plan a zoom meeting. Would take again!
she was not very helpful, a lot of homework and a lot of reading, this class is NOT easy at all. Study guide makes no sense to the test or quizzes, she will not give you a chance to retake, she will not open an assignment that you missed even if you have an excuse, and she will not respond to emails. 10/10 DO NOT take her class.
Only gives worksheets. Nothing on worksheets pertains to test. Not helpful at all. Your basically teaching yourself. Do not take her class.
Do not take this class! she does not prepare you for the exams and the exams are weighted so heavy that no matter how much of the enormous amounts of homework you do you will not pass. My class average was a 41% and she does nothing to help improve grade, no bonus work or anything!
RUN!! Please do not take this class. Her tests are weighted very heavily to point that if you fail a test, you pretty much fail the course. She doesn't give extra credit and no matter how many assignments you do, it won't be enough. Her tests are completely different from what is on the study guides.
Great professor. I took her hybrid class. She provides you with all the tools necessary to pass her class. You have to read the textbook, complete and review her worksheets, watch zooms and power points to pass the class successfully. She also has study hall available for students that require extra help to understand the material.
