The labs are very easy b/c professor Deal helps you out a great deal in what needs to be done. The midterm is very easy b/c she tells you exactly whats on it. The final is a lab practical which is also very easy.

Very organized. Loved her class, she can teach really well. Lots and lots of notes but she makes biology interesting. Consider yourself lucky to have her as your teacher!

If you are looking for a good, clear Bio 101 teacher, look no further. Deal is an excellent professor, who explains her subject well. She gives out packets of notes and her tests are easy. Got an A in her class without a problem.

One thing I noticed about Dr. Deal is that she teaches from the perspective of remembering what it was like to be a student herself.  She puts in an incredible amount of effort preparing for the classes, and is extremely helpful in the class.  Her tests can be very challenging, but quite fair.  She grades fairly.  In a nutshell, she is awesome!

She's really challenging & her work load is plentiful, I had to drop the class because of full-time job & summer class did not work out together.

She is a great professor who cares if you care. We just had an exam where most of the class failed and she lectured us on the virtues of studying for a solid 15 minutes. She gives tough love and has no tolerance for the new age mantra of if I cry hard enough, I will get an A. If you make the effort, you will be rewarded. If not, you will lose.

Deal is the****. She will truly inspire you especially if you want to become a doctor.Her tests are hard but there is nothing wrong with being challenged.IF you seriously want to learn biology take her.

You won't find another professor at NCC that is as caring about her students. That doens't mean that she is easy. It's expected that you study and do the work. If you give Prof. Deal 100%, she gives you 100%.

Excellent instructor, especially for people going into the health field as Professor Deal is trained in medicine. Always provided helpful ways to remember material and made it relatable. I highly recommend her if you are masochistic and take BIO 110 during the summer (like I did).

I enjoyed every moment of her teaching.She is funny, but serious about the material. Her exams are not easy but fair, you just have to study a lot but surely makes premed students ready for the MCAT.

Very good teacher has a great love for biology. Make sure to read the text book and her notes she gives you and you should pass with a good grade put in hard work and you'll get a great result. If you're not looking for anything in medicine then don't take her it's not an easy ride.

Prof. Deal is an amazing teacher and one of the best I have had for Bio. With that being said, she is NOT easy. This class seperates the men from the boys and she knows it. Online Quizes + over head notes are given. Also READ THE WHOLE CHAPTER in the text! The tests come straight from those. Study those and youll be fine and pull atleast a B.

She is actually a MD and very energetic and friendly. She is willing to go out of her way for you in and out of class. Her test are online but this is not an online class.Gives quizzes after every chapter. The textbook is a great book and REALLY helpful although her lectures are powerpoints. The workbook is not necessary. *purchase text online***

Passionate, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, Concise, and LOVES Biology. Nobody will prepare you better for the medical field. Her exams are multiple choice but they are challenging and can easily confuse you if you are not prepared. Her notes are great but it is easiest to study from the textbook.

The best biology professor I have ever had! I'm so glad I took this class. She explains everything clearly and makes sure you understand the information. She's very helpful and nice as long as you show that you care about her class. Don't expect it to be an easy A, you have to work for it. Just study as much as you can and do all of the quizzes!

Great professor! She really wants everyone to do well and gives the opportunity to do so. Tests were kept to 3 chpts max. Notes on blackboard, and quizzes to boost your grade. Class was pretty fun too, she's super enthusiastic/theatrical and does all kinds of wacky things to keep you interested. "Manuuuubrium, say it right!" :))

Prof Deal is energetic, enthusiastic, and sometimes quirky. This keeps the class interesting and makes the material easier to remember. However you will need to study ALOT for this class! This is not some B.S. lib arts class. Read the chapters prior to lecture, pay attention, and make flash cards out of the key terms. Show her you're trying. STUDY

Though I've only had her for lab, I'm taking her again for 109. So far, I think she's a great professor-she helps, and she's totally nice and enthusiastic in what she teaches! She'll repeat anything that a student doesn't clearly understand. She has their best interests, and really wants them to pass. I hope that 109 will tolerable!

One of the best teachers i have had in my lifetime! She really cares about her students and about biology. She teaches the course very clearly and makes sure everyone knows everything. If you need help she is always there for you. Make sure you pay attention and study! Her class is very capable of doing well in if you have the motivation.

Professor Deal is AMAZING! I wish I had her for lecture. She is SO knowledgeable and makes learning about Bio fun! She wants to see her students succeed. Denise Deal is the best teacher you will ever have. A relatively tough class but worth all of the agony. She knows everything you can throw at her and has a great clinical background. Always willing to help, super intelligent overall a great person. The best at NCC hands down.

Smart, funny, a little quirky, and cares about her students. Just take a lot of notes, participate, and make sure you pass all the quizzes. You CAN NOT miss a class and be on time. Its a lot of work but she teaches you a lot and she will give the extra help if you need it. BEST TEACHER I ever had. Just study!!

I had her for bio 101 lab, and she made sure to go over everything until every single person knew it. she preped us well for tests the week before going through exactly what she expected of us, she never threw a curve ball, was always upbeat, and really helpful. TAKE HER!!

When you leave class, youve actually learned & understood biology. She wants you to learn and genuinely cares about the students. But, she does not hand you your grade, that you have to earn. Shes smart & funny and it doesnt hurt that shes hot (another reason to come to class!). You cheat or act like a jerk, shes not having it. Awesome prof!

I had her as a lab professor but, she clarified and revised lessons with us that not even our lecture teacher could. While my lecture professor taught us as if we were going to be scientists the next day, Denise Deal broke it down for us. The only reason I passed this course is honestly because of her! I wish I could have Deal for every biology class. She is passionate AND GIVES A TON OF RESOURCES. She teaches you how to get the A and how to transfer study skills to other classes. She literally rewrote the entire lab book to make it more user friendly. SHE IS THE BEST!!

MY GOD! She is the best teacher ever! brilliant and dedicated to the students and the lectures are so informational. Definitely one of the harder teachers, but not impossible. Need to be proactive. Do not skip class. Pay attention and study lecture notes well. Use powerpoints NOT FOR NOTES but FOR PICTURES! Be warned, very difficult, but rewarding.

Don't know why I am the first to rate Prof Deal. She is the bomb !!! She is a great lecturer. Gets right to the point w/ lectures and they are interesting. Time goes fast. It is easy to get good grades on her tests if you put some effort into studying. She gives many an opportunities to get a good grade. Take her for Patho without a doubt.

Dr. Deal will take the time to guide you on how to get A's in every college class you take. She gives you everything you need for an A and leaves it to you to earn it. Read what she tells you to and pay attention in class and you get the A it's great. You leave her class feeling like you actually learned instead of memorizing everything. 10/10

Professor Deal is hands down one of the best biology lab professor's I've had by far. She is very nice, polite, very passionate about teaching, and her methods are outstanding. I love the way she says "manubrium." I feel that she is very inspiring, and I learned a lot from her. I would take her lab a million times over.

Professor Deal is a very nice lady. She gives you all the material for the midterm/final. Bio isn't the easiest subject but she teaches it straightforward and leaves all the extra stuff you don't need out. My lab was a 3 hour class and she would usually dismiss us an hour and half in.

For 109 we had 5 exams + 1 exam made up of 10 point weekly quizzes to make up 70% of our grade & a lab midterm and final to make up the other 30%. Having labs online due to covid which was challenging but lectures went well. Dr. Deal is kind knowledgeable and passionate about biology & makes sure her students learn, not memorize. Highly recommend!

Dr. Deal is amazing! Had her in-class and remote for BIO 109 and BIO 110. She's knowledgable&passionate about bio. Has thorough lectures. Gives lecture notes beforehand & 10 point quizzes after each chapter which are similar to test questions. Also helps outside of class. Highly recommend!

During lecture and even outside office hours she was always available to help any student understand the material. You definitely have to work for your grade. Amazing lectures, even remotely. The course is hard, lots of information but she does her best to help you understand. Early dismissal when lab is completed. Quizzes are take home, quiz questions are on exams.

For BIO 101 this is your best option, what she says is on the exam is on the exam. She's very approchable and passionate about her job and is always willing to help you during the course. I took BIO 101 lecture/lab with professor Denise Deal and I can only say good things about her as a person and her class. Prof. Deal is kind and truly cares about her students! Lectures are heavy and Lab is fun! Midterm/Final are written answers & the lecture exams are multiple choice based on online quizzes you take on BrightSpace. 10/10!!!

The professor is great! She explains the material clearly and makes sure you understand everything. Attendance is mandatory, but there's no homework. You do need to study for exams, and she always reminds you to study to pass the class.
