She is the best professor I hav ever had. She is very entertaining and makes you really want to go to class.

Her lectures are very opinionated. A waste of time. However, the course is required... Was fairly easy to get a good grade. So, if you don't care to learn and only care for a good grade then no problems.

this was a wonderful course with a wonderful professor. she knew the material very well, and was able to present it in a way so that everyone could understand it. i would highly reccommend this professor.

Denise is one of my favorite professors at EMU. If you can take a class with her, you should most definitely do so.

She is very interesting, and has a heart unlike any other professor. I've had two classes with her and enjoyed both, if you are a socl major I suggest you take at least 1 class with her. she's excellent in SOCL 304.

opinionated, but fun. Among the best Ive ever had, but the exams are somewhat more difficult... mult choice w/ 5 options a-e, all have "all of the above, some of the above etc etc but the material was very interesting and her style was extremely organized in the delivery of the lectures. GREAT PROF!

This teacher is the best professor I have had at Eastern, and I really enjoyed going to her class. She makes the lectur every clear and helpful when it comes down to the test.

Her lectures are very thorough, and she demonstrates a strong knowledge of sociological concepts. You'll do fine on the tests if you attend class regularly, take notes, and read the assigned text. For Medical Sociology, two extra books are required as well as two book reviews. There are two exams.

She's great! Her lectures are interesting and engaging. Not only is she very knowledgeable, but she's very accesible and genuinely cares about the students. Book reviews are fairly easy. Go to class, take notes, glance through the text and there's no reason you won't don't very well.

You love her or you hate her. She is opinionated, extremely so, but she is aware of her opinions. The kids that get their stuff shot down is always done with reason, which she goes into. And most of them were some of the stupidest things I've heard out of a person's mouth. Stupid opinionated kids who were upset because their sheltered view of the world wasn't right and had that shattered by this lady are destroying her rating out of spite. I thought she was great, and she really cared. Changed my life.

The reason why I changed my major to sociology and minor to psychology. She's awesome! The only class at EMU i havnt feel alseep in. That has to stand for something.

I don't know why she has so many negative ratings. Her class was very clear and easy to pass. As a teacher I thought she was very nice and not that opinionated.

She's GREAT!! Her lectures relate to real life situations so you can remember them better on tests. She tells you what will be on every test, no games. She is VERY personable and makes you think outside of the box. You have to at least look over the study guide if you want to do good on tests. Attendance not mandatory, e-mails alot of info out.

had her in a past semester, but since i'm new to rmp i figured i'd rate her. she was easily one of the best teachers i've had at emu. she knows her stuff, is fair, and has an extremely effective teaching style. if you have the option of taking her DO IT!

VERY opinionated and won't hesitate to tell you you're wrong, but overall she makes you think about things in different ways, uses current events, and doesn't grade like she lectures (she's super easy)

Social Psych....she is very opinionated, so when you take the tet if you just think from her perspective they're relatively easy. He lectures are pretty interesting and she adds a lot from the book, although sometimes she contradicts the book, so it's a little confusing.

THE BEST PROFESSOR AT EMU. Honestly, if every professor cared about their students the way Dr. Reiling did, we would have a great campus. She took time out of lecture to discuss the VA Tech shootings and cares about our well-being. She is an amazing teacher and person. If you have an opportunity to take a class that she is teaching... DO IT.

What a beautiful lady! If you didn't like her it's probably because you didn't agree with something she said. However, she's really nice, helpful, and above all, not hard. Read the text, use her study guides and you'll be fine.

I like Dr Reiling, I didn't really care for the class though. I am not really into Soc though. She tried really hard for all students to do well. I would take her again.

Dr. Reiling is awsom. except for having four exams and having to write a 20 page essay in a thesis type format. This is a bit much for a 300 level class in my opinion. Other than that, she is very nice and keeps you interested. I would take the class again or any class with her for that matter.

Dr. Reiling is a good prof. She knows what she's talking about.She may seem hard and opinionated, but you get used to her.She does notes on the board, but I would also look through the book and take some of your own notes.If you go to class, take notes, and study, you will be fine.It's college, so don't go in expecting that you won't have to work.

Extremely easy. Read the book though. If you're lucky, she'll send the powerpoints after every class!

Dr. Reiling is a true scholar. She is very knowledgeable and a great teacher. Her assignments can be difficult sometimes, but that is only because she wants her students to utilize their brains and perform at their full-potential. I highly recommend her.

I adore this professor. She is very motivated in the sociology profession, so she comes off a bit crazy, but there is value in crazy. Discussion is great in class and her tests are never that hard as long as you pay attention in class. Overall, I enjoy SOCL 312 quite a bit because of her!

she is one of the best professors i have ever had. she is kind of tough but its only because she really does want you to learn! although i got a B in this class, i learned a lot and would definitely take another class with her. don't take this class if you want a blow off bc you will fail. attendance is optional but if you miss then your behind.

I thought she was a very good professor for this class. I learned something new every class and I found this subject very interesting. She is really passionate about soiciology and she is very smart. She has a few extra credit opportunities, otherwise the class is based off exams which are based off reading the textbook and lecture notes. Take her!

When I first met Dr. Reiling, I felt she was very intimidating and unhelpful, but now, she is my FAVORITE professor hands-down. She is so passionate about Sociology and and has taught me more than any other professor so far. I have taken four classes with her and will miss her classes so much when I graduate! the best teacher ever she is over the soc. department and i think that is why it is clear that she knows what she is talking about. he makes the class so that you will pass. you can go and talk to her anytime.

Overall, she's a very kind lady and is really passionate about what she teaches. However, sometimes her lectures feel incomplete as a lot of stuff on the exams are left out or not given proper attention. 5-6 short papers throughout the semester, but she is not at all a strict grader so don't stress out about them too much.

Incredible teaching style, very clear and makes the material fascinating. The exams are in the form of papers throughout the semester which seems awful but as she says, generally students reforge higher grades on papers than multiple choice exams.

I personally liked Professor Reiling, but not so much the course. She has 4 exams and one paper that make up your grade. The tests were really hard and not very clear, and she always had to curve them. You really have to watch all her lectures and read the chapters to pass. The paper was extremely easy and unnecessary to even read book it is on.

Professor Reiling is great! She spends a lot of the time during the lecture talking about her life, grandchildren, children and herself but everything relates to the material and topics. There are two books required for this course, both inexpensive, one of the books will be for the end of the term paper which was super easy. Take home exams!

This is one of the best professors I have had. She really cares about her students and does her best to understand them. Shes tries not to make class too straining because she knows college students have a lot on their plates.

Best professor I've had at Eastern. When I wasn't in the best mental state she noticed and reached out, if you show you care she shows that she cares about you 10x more. The exams were online and simple along with the essays, she even bought us pizza on the last day. If you're here for an education and not just a degree, I strongly recommend her.

I loved Dr. Reiling. She cares about you and your well-being. Go to class, pay attention, and take notes to get a good grade. My only critic of her is that you should know she is liberal and it shows. Sometimes I felt like she wasn't aware of how much her views and believes covered other concepts and view points in the world.

She refers to the book, but youll pass if you dont have it. She takes attendance, but only to see who shows up, not for a grade. Grades based on your level. I was having some personal problems and she gave me a 100% on the final paper for just trying, even though I didnt reach the page limit. She prints out her PowerPoints. Take good notes.

Absolutely adore Dr. Reiling. Her lectures are engaging and she moves at a comfortable pace for my learning style. She answers questions kindly and treats students with respect. The only downside is that you are only graded on exams and 1 paper. Take her class if you get the chance, you'll learn a lot about the material and about yourself.

The class is graded off of 3 exams and 1 paper (5-8 pages). One exam had a lower average so she gave a writing assignment to add points to exam grade. She will give you insight on yourself if you really participate in the lectures and the writing assignment. Dont cheat your self from a really amazing class. She was the best professor I have had.

Online class: lectures are uploaded to YouTube and they are long. I got an A on every test without watching the lectures by reading through the PPs and other links. Semester was comprised of 3 tests and a 3-4 page paper. You can tell Prof. Reiling loves what she does and is incredibly passionate about the content of this class.

Attendance isn't mandatory but you need to go to every lecture in order to get all the information on the exams. There were four exams that were completely online and one final project that had a few options. This class you'll get the grade corresponding to your effort

Dr. Reiling is by far the best professor Ive had at Eastern so far. She is passionate about what she teaches and is caring of all her students. We were only graded on four tests and A paper. The tests were all online and she usually adds points to them when all the students are done. She even ordered pizza for our lecture hall once.

TAKE THIS PROFESSOR IF YOU CAN. very caring. very nice. easy A if you put the time in. she brought us pizza once. cancels class. she really cares about your well being. one of the most caring and more than fair professors I've ever had. she gives you the benefit of the doubt on everything.

Dr. Reiling is one of the nicest profs I've ever encountered. She genuinely cares about her students and is so nice! Always replies to emails in a timely matter. Even online, Dr. Reiling clearly makes a real effort to be engaged with the class, and cares for the wellbeing of her students. She's passionate about her subject, and the material is interesting including readings, lectures (pay attention!), Tedx Talks, etc. Having taken two classes with Dr. Reiling, I'd take another in a heartbeat.

She will extend assignments, help you with homework, and go out of her way to make sure everything is ok and that you are not stressed out. She is very kind and sweet and knowledgeable. Easy class.

This is a class I wish I could've taken in person. Watching Dr. Reiling's lectures were genuinely enjoyable. She seemed to really be interested in what she taught. Tests weren't too difficult- just look over the notes and you should be okay. The final grade was based on 3 tests and one essay, so there wasn't too much work.

Dr. Reiling is the best professor (and this is my senior year so I have had a lot of professors). She grades on 4 tests (25% of your grade each) but if you watch/ read the lectures she puts on canvas you'll pass. She gives study guides that match the questions on the tests too and even adds points onto tests every once in a while. Take Dr. Reiling!

Take Dr. Reiling! I had her twice in one semester and am taking her again for my final semester of undergrad. She is a great professor and truly cares about the subject(s) she teaches. If you have the chance you should definitely take her courses! However, if you arent willing to read/ watch her lectures, you should find a different professor.

Dr. Reiling is extremely sweet, helpful, caring, accessible outside of class, & has very good lectures, although I occasionally felt as if they were a bit fluffy instead of educational. I only had one problem with her & when I addressed it, she apologized profusely & promised to change her approach. It meant a lot & I would 100% recommend her.
