She's postively the worst instructor I have ever encountered. No straight answers, no clear explanations (if she gives you one), and she's pretty rude to some students (ones who aren't being rude to her). She makes it seem as though the pre-req for Math 251 is Math 251...

Why she has to make us know all the proves for almost every single thing in Calculus, while other classes are not doing it. We just need to to calculations, not proving!

Absolutely terrible. Dropped it after the first day. Has absolutely know clue what she is doing. Does the question, looks back at her notes and says, "oh that's wrong." very often. Asks for suggestions when she has no clue how to do it. Avoid at all costs, should be fired.

If you wan't a mark above an F don't take her class. If you do by some chance take her class don't bother wasting your money on the textbook you'll never look at it. She tries to get us to look at things in the textbook but her lectures and the textbook don't correlate. I learned more in the tutorials from a TA then i ever did by attending her clas

The only thing that kept me coming to lectures was watching her baby grow in her belly. The lectures consisted of her making mistakes, asking for help from us on something we had not learned, then several weeks later realizing our notes are complete garbage. Lost a lot of marks due to her giving us the wrong formulas. Thank god for maternity leave.

She would give us page long assignments with her terrible use of the english language. Also, we would have to realize what information she had forgot to write down for us and then point out to her that most of her numbers made assignments impossible to solve. Then she would update the class via email... the day before assignments were due.

VERY not organized and she yet failed to explain everything. She had so many bad examples in class and she made students to discuss with each other (when students clearly did not even know what to do). Also, she did not teach anything relevant prior to the labs.

She is very unorganized, and her lectures are very confusing. On her course outline, there is only a room number for her office. How could the student find your office if you don't put which build you are in? Avoid this prof!

Horrible is the best way to describe her. I've never before faced a situation where I read the textbook and everything is clear, but then I go to class and the teacher muddles up everything. Don't attend class unless you have a good set of headphones. You'll need them to drown her out.

Very slow, causing people to lose focus or interest. I took calc in highschool, the only reason I understand half of her lectures is because I had an amazing teacher in g12. Feel bad for the kids who are taking this course for the first time because she isn't very good at explaining things. Skip class & teach yourself. Probably get a better mark.

I tagged her as hilarious because she is a joke. The course is pretty difficult but she will make it harder with her brutal notes and crackling voice. Stops to sip her water every 15 seconds. Not respected by the class at all. Avoid.

Terrible prof ! Her thick accent and quiet tone of voice while lecturing make it near impossible to follow what she is saying, to make things even worse she presents course material in a confusing, dry mess that leaves you wishing you had picked a different prof.

Considering dropping out now right before the first midterm cause I do not feel prepared in the slightest because it seems that she doesn't even know what she is doing. We learn better going to a one day math prep course then a whole month with her. She copies answers from the textbook and still doesn't know what she is saying

Sezer's classes consist of reading off the online textbook on the projector, that all students could do at home, followed by doing examples copied exactly out of that textbook. Used other profs notes from other math classes and didn't switch only because schedule didn't allow it.

Honestly I started going to the Cavers lecture about a week in. I already knew most of the content from math 31 and went to class to refresh my memory, and she actually managed to only confuse me about stuff I used to know perfectly. She's just not very good at explaining things in ways you understand and she's not good at doing examples either.

I personally think she's not a good prof because she doesn't know what she's doing and totally unclear powerpoint. She might be a good person but awful prof. Once she said" take your time" to a lost student who tried to ask her questions. This is very unresponsible for a prof. She doesn't meet the basic requirements for a prof!!!

Dr. Sezer doesn't know how to teach. All of her lecture material and worked examples were pulled directly from the textbook, and she frequently (every class) got her answers wrong when doing examples on the board. If you want to pass this class, go to Michael Cavers' lecture section instead. She's at best useless.

She isn't even a stat prof yet she is teaching stat. I wanted to switch to another prof after I learned that she was actually my friend's math prof and my friend did hate her so much. But I can't because there are only two sessions this semester. And soon enough I found that she doesn't know how to teach and what she's doing. Avoid her if possible.

Her lecture style was hard to follow and class notes didn't make sense, so going to lectures was not useful. She does not teach this course like most professors, making it hard for tutors/friends to help. She does not provide formula sheets for anything, making students bring handwritten ones for exams, and posts no formula sheets or notes on D2L.

If you can switch to a different prof, you should. I found myself having to attend Claudia Mahler's lectures to make any sense of the material. Knows her stuff but does not know how to communicate it and is horrendous at explaining things. Assignments don't match lecture materials. Also impossible to find outside of class for office hours.

How did she even get the graduate certificate? U of C clearly doesn't know what does the students want. She's so disorganised. Emailing her is completely wasting your time, since she doesn't reply your email. The stuff that she taught is class are so easy, and the stuff we do like webwork questions are so difficult. -10/10 NOT RECOMMENDED.

Honestly i dont usually care what a profs score is on this. BUT beleive me you need to understand theres a reason this prof has such a low score she really was not fit to teach the course. Try to get another prof or expect an insanely hard final that is worth half your mark.

The whole class was confused during lectures, the midterms were easy compared to the practice questions, but the final (worth 45%) was one of the hardest I've ever had. Nice lady, brutal prof. Final unit was skimmed over and unfinished due to poor time management, but it was still included on the final. Went to every lecture but ended up teaching myself everything on Khan Academy. Midterms and assignments focused on Minitab instead of solving problems by hand even though the final is offline. Tip: Invest in Chegg!

Just a terrible teacher. A lot of the material on the final were things that were barely covered in class. It is brutal and I don't know if she will curve it. I went to every single lecture without fail and took down everything she said and I still have to retake the course. Went from a grade of B+ down to a C- barely. Deniz should not be a prof.

She is genuinely a nice and caring person but, she DOES NOT know how to teach Stats. She does not answer emails. Class questions are answered very poorly. She underlines things on the slides without explaining what they mean. DO yourself a favour and avoid this prof... WHEN I tell you she is HORRIBLE I am not playing.

I've had a lot of bad teachers but Sezer is by FAR the worst. It blows my mind that shes a prof when the TA's or youtube videos and explain the same concept 1000x better. She doesn't answer emails, her notes are terrible (in comparison to scotts or claudias) and half the class stopped going after the 2nd week.

I've been oh so lucky to have Sezer for both STAT213 and 217. What can I say, she's decent if you have the concentration to listen to her ramble on for 75 minutes because she's somehow unable to just get to the point. Terrible at taking criticism, gets annoyed when students tell her they don't understand what she's teaching.

Worse prof I've ever had. Takes offence to any sort of questions or criticism. She can't keep a train of thought going, and jumps around her lecture notes. I had the hardest time trying to figure out what she was trying to explain. I spent half the time in class trying to figure out what side she was on because she jumped around so much.

She doesn't explain anything, takes offense to student questions, does not answer emails, has mistakes in practice test solutions, has extremely hard and unfair tests. On top of this, her notes are the most confusing thing I have ever seen. I don't think she knows how to do half the concepts she's teaching.

Probably the worst prof Ive had so far at uni. Cannot explain the course material well. Has confusing notes that jump all over the place. When the students go to her for help on assignments, she is unable to solve the questions herself. Whatever you do, do not take a class with Deniz. You will be so stressed trying to teach yourself everything.

Deniz is the worst prof at U of C. She does not care for her students, her notes and lectures are confusing. If you are not good at self teaching, you will not pass her class. She wont respond to any emails and will respond rudely to any questions you make have in class. Absolutely terrible!

If I never went to a single class, I probably wouldve done better because YouTube videos and tutorials online teach the whole course much more clearly in a shorter amount of time. Dr. Sezer is a rude person. She treats her students disrespectfully and makes everyone's life way harder than it needs to be. I will do everything I can to avoid taking another class with her. She does not know how to teach, never replies to emails (and is rude when she does,) and has unfair tests. Avoid this prof at ALL COSTS.

Tests are fair, however, does not understand how to properly teach. The few tips I would give her are make your notes clear and dont jump around from page to page. It may make sense to you, but it doesnt for others. Anyways, avoid, if you happen to get her, use claudias notes from online. Lifesaver.

I had the most awful experience in my university career with this prof, BRUTAL midterms and very hard to understand lectures, any questions were not answered and were heavily criticized during lectures, she would call out the entire class when no one was able to come up with an answer, if shes the only prof left for this course. dont take it.

Honestly one of the worst profs I've had. She "explains" concepts assuming we are mathematicians. Might as well have her mouth duct taped shut and I'd understand the same amount. I asked a question about an assignment question and she was condescending and told me to watch the lectures. Yes, the lectures that no one understands in the first place.

She has published a book called "Molecular Dynamics and ESR Spectra of a Nitroxide Spin Label at Solvent-exposed Surface Sites in Proteins", which leads me to believe she is simply too smart to teach this course properly. Lectures are confusing,she simply flies through her notes and never stops to explain anything and just assumes you understand.

Very condescending, puts the least amount of effort I've every seen into helping students with online classes. Overall not a nice person or good teacher.

Course material and instructions were delivered in a vague manner. The midterm was graded in an extremely harsh manner even though a rubric of how the grading will occur was not given to the students to understand what they need to mention in their answers. Assignments were too long and took a lot of time to complete.

The most inconsiderate prof you will ever have. She made a stats midterm essay style but did not release any grading rubrics for how it would be marked. All of her tests are just a surprise and she does not prepare you for them what so ever. avoid her as a prof at all costs.

The worst prof I had during my time at the university. She would ignore questions, and when she did answer them she were extremely rude. Her lectures made little sense, and the written midterm/final was impossible given the fact that she gave us no example, and did not even tell us what we were marked on. Avoid her at all costs!!

Terrible prof overall. She fails to explain concepts clearly and if you do have a question she is rude and condescending with her response. Rarely answers emails and her notes did not make you feel prepared for tests and were not similar to homework assignments either. She made the exams require long essay like responses. She can't explain things to save her life. Uses absurdly expensive software (minitab, which costs $1,600 USD) and expects us to follow along, without actually telling us how to do questions normally (for example, she never told us how to use a t-table or that they exist, she always just wrote that she got the number "from minitab").

Makes you write out exams in ESSAY STYLE on why you used a certain method to find the answer FOR A MATH CLASS?!! Lecture videos are awful and YOU DON'T LEARN ANYTHING!! Numerous students couldn't understand a thing she taught. Absolutely astonishing how she still is a professor. Do yourself a HUGE favour and switch lectures.

This class shouldn't have been too hard... However it was due to her written essay style finals instead of using numbers. Highly recommend don't take her.

There are no practice problems for exams and anyone can do poorly in midterm which she can choose not to count toward your final grade and the final exam is a little easier. Remember the detailed concepts from notes which will help the final. You need to put effort in assignments.

Possibly the worst teacher I ever had. Simply can't teach and clearly hates it. Lucky for her there is no accountability in teaching as she'd be long gone. Studying for the midterm and final is pointless. When asked for more practice questions by the class after the majority (maybe all) failed the midterm she replied "I am not a question bank".

At times she will not cover as much material as planned so near the end of the lecture she will start writing stuff quickly on the board without explaining. She rushed through all of the chapter 5 material in the last 2 lectures (last week of school.) If you have to take this course make sure you read the textbook thoroughly and study very hard.

She is the reason I hate stats now. First of all, she doesn't even teach you how to find the numbers in R, and will just put that she found the number from a much more expensive program. This professor makes me regret choosing U of C as my post-secondary education. There is no accountability when it comes to how professors teach students and this is the perfect example. She uses different software from what we use, barely explains how to do the calculation in R, and simply does not care. I loved STAT 213. Avoid her.

For the tuition we pay for these classes, the level of teaching is unacceptable. myself and many other kids have had to teach ourselves the course and watch youtube videos rather than her lectures because they dont make sense. At the beginning of the semester we were told our class time was her office hours and there would be no real time lectures.

While students struggles with the course and ask for extra practice, she told them to find it theirselves in three textbooks that she never gone over, because she think it is only caused by students not following her un-understandable lectures. If you took her lecture be ready to teach yourself absolutely everything.

She is too lazy to teach actually lectures, so she decide to clip her previous lectures videos from years before. It would be fine if she is using the same software, but instead she uses another software that is way harder and she barely explain how it works and what does each function mean. Sezer is the reason why I hate STATS, she don't teach anything, her lecture time only work as office hours. Her essay type exams worth a lot of mark but she doesn't teach us how to do it, and what's more is it has been two weeks since we submitted the exam, but we still don't have any feedbacks for a exam with only really one answer to mark.

Who let her become the course coordinator for stat 217? I wasn't even in her class but since she was the coordinator, we never got certain materials that would've helped us learn better. For example, she doesn't post answer keys for our practice final exam so how am I supposed to know if I'm doing it correctly? She also refuses to curve our grades.

Entire grade only dependent on four tests which are only difficult due to lack of support from both prof and TA. Expected response, (if any) is, "We did this in class already" ???

The entire grade is based on exams, which are overly difficult due to a lack of guidance or resources. No practice materials or lecture notes are provided. References several textbooks but never specifies which to focus on, and the textbook questions lack solutions, leaving no way to verify your understanding or prepare for the tests.

In my final year, glad I avoided her until now—easily a top 2 worst prof. Midterm prep didn't align with midterm, study guides had no answer keys, and in-class examples were useless for the convoluted/exotic test questions that are nothing like what we do. Frequent "why are we doing this?" moments in class, with no intuitive connection to exams.

The lack of materials provided made the course harder than it needed to be: No notes, hardly any practice questions, even less RELEVANT practice questions with no solutions, expected to know differential equations for the last part of the course (I had no idea what was going on), and pulls stuff from different textbooks.

“Do the textbook problems” Which of the 5 textbooks? All of them have no answer keys? Why was there discrete math on the midterm prep? 271 isnt a prereq. Differentials are assumed knowledge? 367 isnt a prereq Tophat questions? Nothing like the test questions, most impossible to do without R (this isnt a class where coding is done) Trash prof.
