relates lectures to current events
Driggers is okay. He gives you a study guide with the same questions he will ask on exams, so even though the subject is boring, the class is easy overall.
Professor could be less sarcastic.
If you fill out the Exam review, tests are easy the paper due is only a 5 page double spaced paper. Very humorous, and sarcastic but not overbearing.
overall he is a decent teacher. he is foward and says what is on his mind but i see that as a good thing. likes to have discussions and get peoples oppinions. pretty laid back and it isnt hard to pay attention. print the exam reviews and read the chapters and you will do fine.
Teacher is overall ok. Tests are relatively easy and so is the ONE book assignement. Teacher can be sarcastic, but he keeps the class alive.
Sarcastic, but funny. encourages opinions from students, and does know a lot about the subject.
This guy Rocks i usually hate this subject but really enjoyed his class! Study the test reviews and you get a a!
Easy,sarcastic,fun,involved
i love dr. driggers, he's probably one of the funniest and best teachers i have ever had. it's like watching stand up comedy.
easy class...good teacher...really funny i recommend him to everyone
Lectures are completely pointless. You basically have to teach yourself the material in order to do well. Take the study guides seriously.

Great professor, keeps the class awake, very helpful. Would definitely recommend to anyone!
He is awesome! I had him for world history then again for pl si 2. Hes great!
This guy rocks....better than watchin an actual comedian...you learn a lot and if you study the exam reviews the tests are easy.
easy but extremely boring. you don't need to go to class...don't take this if you are looking for a stimulating lecture...i've fallen asleep almost every class i've attended
Multiple choice and essay questions on tests, several texts, every class starts with discussion of world events, paper mandatory at end of semester. He tries the humor approach with class, sometimes succeeding. Not bad.
extremely boring, test are easy, but the class is insanely boring
He usually goes thru the fresno bee for 15 min so any of you laggers can come in 15 min late and you'll be fine. No use 2 buy the books his review which he post online covers everything till the last test thats when your on your own. Test are okay if you read the review......he curves his test
Great teacher, somewhat pompous but hilarious. Full of stories from his military experience. USE HIS STUDY GUIDES AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE EXTRA CREDIT! Piece of cake class if you show up and pay attention. No need to buy the books if you go to class. Definitely recommend!
he is really funny and knows a lot about the subject. attendance not necessary, but i thought his lectures were really interesting and funny. he also grades on a curve for the tests :)
I had Driggers about a year ago. Class was not mandatory, but I went every day. As long as you do the study guide, you should do well on the test. Test was usually straight from the study guide. He does curve the tests. He offers a few chances of extra credit which can be helpful if you need it. Overall, not a bad professor.
nice and interesting guy. may be intimidating at first, but you'll get over it. if just go to class and do the study guides you'll do fine.
He is a cool teacher. Very funny guy. don't really need to read the textbook. just do the study guide and you'll do fine on the test. he might give some extra credit too.
he is a cool teacher. you dont need to buy the book, but you do need it for the study guide. no paper. only 4 test.easy class
I took his class a few semesters ago. From what I remember it was an easy class but the **** almost gave me an F because I didn't turn in an essay even though he clearly stated that if we did 15 hours of community service with a certified nonprofit organization we didn't have to do an essay. But other than that he is pretty easy.
Driggers is an awesome teacher. He is so funny, and always keeps the class entertained. Do the study guides and you'll do well on the exams. The exams come directly from the study guides, so reading the book is not necessary. He gives a lot of extra credit. There is a writing assignment that's graded pass/fail. Take this class w/ Driggers!
There's only 4 test and paper. The paper are letters you write about issues. Gives a lot of extra credit opportunities but 20 points are the maximum you can get. Must study to do well on test. he gave us lecture notes on blackboard. not really necessary to read book. his class is alright.
He's pretty funny, took him for Poli Sci 2. It's an extremely easy class if you just do the review and vocab sheets for each exam. Going to class isn't really needed. Very easy writing assignment, tests are just multiple choice. If you don't do well in this class it's just because you didn't study for an hour or so. Easy.
HE DOES NOT LECTURE!! instead, he spends most of his time giving the class updates on politics, which was very interesting but not very helpful when it comes down to the test. basically, don't even bother going to class till the exam reviews. he does gives study guides and it'll be helpful to work in groups. i got an 89% and he wouldnt give me an A
NOT RECOMMENDED. wastes class time for his pleasure. test you on materials he never even mentioned. study guides are not helpful because the test questions are phrased so that you must know word per word of every info./sentence super hard to get an A. i have a 4.0 and got a C in this class. teacher makes offensive comments and is careless of studen
Don't listen to these other people. He gives you a study guide with exactly what you need to know on the test. If you just do that correctly you will get an A no problem. I absolutely destroyed this class with minimal effort. Only 4 exams, very easy extra credit. SERIOUSLY JUST DO THE STUDY GUIDES, SO EASY.
This guy is not the teacher for you. He will lie and say the letters you send to the governor are worth alot of points. Toward the end of the semester he tells you it was only worth one point. He will not round up on your grade if you have a 69.9
This guy is not the teacher for you. If you have a 69.9 percent he will not round up and write down that you have a D+. He is not a great teacher at all. Do not listen to the first comment on this professor
I'm currently taking this Prof. Overall he isn't that bad. He doesnt require attendance but it is to your benefit. He does encourage that you take notes and read the material because he doesnt go over all the stuff that the book does. Gives simple E.C. opportunities. Gives S.G. for his tests. I've got a low B as of right now, with minimal effort.
Excellent Prof. Actually talks about current events and makes the material interesting. Gives study guides that essentially allow you to ace the exams. Enjoyed the class more than i thought i would.
He's whatever but his test are hard, if looking to just get thru this class for GE requirements, dont take him
Tough class. On the first day of class Dr. Driggers announces that over half of the class will fail. He is right. Expect to study hard to get a good grade. It's up to your study habits to achieve the grade you want.
Great prof. Crazy smart. Not a hippy. You will get the grade you earn. Got an A without buying the book because his lectures were spot on as well as his handeouts
His no-nonsense style might not appeal to everyone. Little room for error in this class; no tests are dropped and there is no end-of-course curve. Tests are difficult, but study guides are comprehensive. You WILL be tested on everything on the study guide. Not a particularly easy or fun class, but survivable if you need it for your major.
At first I thought he was a jerk, he has office hours but he's not there, he has a phone number he doesn't answer. He will explain all of this on the first day of class. Not that class is ending, I actually enjoyed his class. his class is all tests. really smart, shares important articles in class. Interesting class. Enjoyable.
The teacher basically lectures everyday. You either take notes on what he's lecturing on or make sure to read the textbook. His exams are okay if you really study. Overall, class is okay.
This is one cool guy. You will learn a lot about him and hear good stories. The class is simple if you listen in class and complete the study guide he provides for every test. They offer a free study group that goes along with this class. USE IT! Very relaxed environment and get ready to learn a lot of cool facts. He's full of them!
The study guide IS the test so memorize everything. Study lecture notes and outlines and you should be fine.
The study guide literally the test. If you took government in high school, you will survive this class, so long as you actually pay attention
Just go to SI sessions and you'll be solid, did not show up 1 day to class, went to SI sessions and did the vocab an got a B , test r near impossible cause 80 percent of the questions are "all are true, EXCEPT..." which is why the study guide is all that matters
He's not clear in his classes because he goes on about current events. The text book is mandatory unless you go to the SI sessions. I literally didn't read a single page from the text book. The SI sessions give you exactly what you need on the tests, so use them. Also, the SI instructor is very approachable and friendly, do not feel intimidated.
Class ain't mandatory but I honestly enjoy his lectures. Cool stories & keeps me updated on current events. Barely lectures about the stuff we actually need to know but it's not too hard. Just attend SI units when you can or just do the vocab lists, study guides, and read the notes that he provides on Blackboard. Overall, pretty easy class.
This is the easiest class I have currently took at state. However, all you need is the textbook and study guide. You really don't need to go to class. Because everything on the Study Guide is in the textbook and he doesn't lecture. So, as long as you make flashcards (or whatever study method you use) you should have no problems! & Extra Credit too
Driggers is a good lecturer! Attending class recommended if you want study guide answers. Makes class as simple as possible. Gives you study guides, notes sheets, & vocab. If you still need additional help, he offers SI sessions. Just like high school Govt.
You get extra credit by taking a test on the syllabus. Letters are worth 1 point. Tests are difficult and the study guides/textbook notes are long!!
By far one of the worst courses ive ever taken. Hes boring stays off topic and always asks questions about your major which has nothing to do with the lecture. He has you write 5 letters for which you have to buy stamps and envelopes for and theyre only worth 1 point total!!!! no homework or extra credit based of test
THIS MAN IS RUDE BORING AND A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.
Easy if you study. Attendance is not mandatory but its really helpful bcuz if you go he gives out the answers to the study guide. The study guide is pretty much the exam so its not hard. I saw some ppl saying hes boring and hard but its not true. Plus, he keeps u updated on the news. NOT HARD IF YOU STUDY. NOT A CLASS FOR LAZY PPL who dont study
Difficult class, your entire grade is based on 4 tests that are 50 questions and you have 50 minutes to take it. He says 40% of his students fail his class each semester. I should pass with a C and I never missed class, always took notes and studied. I don't recommend him if you want an easy A.
When i first took this class i thought i was going to be a piece of cake. But after the first test it was obvious that the test was different from the study guide! After failing the first 2 test, in thought i was going to fail, but i didn't SI was more helpful than the actual class. I recommend this class if your willing to but the time and effort.
His class is not that bad! Read the book before lecture, go to class, takes notes, and do the study guides! I would definitely recommend SI! There's only 3 exams and the final and he offers several extra credit opportunities! He's pretty funny too, and never a boring lecture! I got an A :-)
Easy if you study!!! Attendance is crucial because he gives out the answers to the study guide. The study guide is basically a resume of the exam. He is not boring i actually enjoyed his class and found his humor enjoyable! he does scare off many people the first day but hes not that bad! STUDY if you want to pass this class!
He is a great professor! Definitely the easiest professor for PLSI 2! There are 3 tests and then the final which is NOT comprehensive! You just need to read the book and use the study guide and you should have no problem getting an A. He's also pretty funny! Take him!
i was excited for this class until i took the first test. he gives you study guides that are supposed to be exactly like the test but they are far from it. i earned a C in the class but he gave me a F due to my test scores progressively getting worse. i would NEVER take this class with him again! he is unfair and not much help
He does not teach. He expects you to learn on your own and he gives you 40 page study guides. IT'S CRAZY! Do not take this class with him if you have the choice.
Dennis Driggers is an amazing man. Great style and always makes the lectures funny. Read the Daily Maddy Report, because it'll make him happy. He is a bit of an oddball, but it makes class so much fun. Tests are eh, but which ones aren't? Overall, great general ed class.
Really Really enjoyed this class & his lectures. Tests are kind of difficult, gives study guides. Only 4 tests. Writing assignment is very easy. He gives a lot of extra credit. He is very fair and gives both sides of views. Highly recommend him.
I enjoy his class. Although the test was kind of hard it didn't really matter to me because i really study for it and i also go to SI because that helps me. There aren't homework at all just the study guide to get ready for each exams.
Be prepared to go to SI or you will struggle passing, grade based off the tests/5 letters I had to write to officials. Study guides help, focus on those. Tests are long/written in a way where he changes words on some of the questions from the study guide,to me thats not effective, kind of like he's try to trick you, long questions took up test time
This class wasn't a bad as I expected it to be and he is very interesting and humorous but does not teach what is on the test at all! Ben, the SI leader taught me more when he would come in. Towards the end of the semester he cancelled class a lot which sucked. I would recommend taking it with someone else!
Driggers was hilarious, an awesome granted. Felt like class was just time to have a conversation but i liked it. Only 4 tests & 1 writing assign. about 50 extra credit points. Granted he didn't teach a whole lot, but study guides were exactly like the tests. Ben from SI was a rockstar, if he's doing it definitely go, he'll save you if you're lost.
Class is pretty boring, all he does is ramble about current events the entire lecture. He does give out study guides which are essentially the test. Make sure you come to class otherwise he won't give you the study guide. The writing assignment is literally just writing letters to local and state politicians, super easy.
AMAZING PROFESSOR. understands what we are going through as college students and makes polsci doable. you dont even have to attend class if you have the textbook and the study guide. If you choose to attend class, like me, you wont even need the text.
His class is tough because your entire grade rides on your test scores. Use SI as much as possible and stay on top of readings and do the study guides. Don't expect an A, but it's definitely possible if you work super hard.
He gives you everything you need to pass, the class is just boring and tests are hard but not impossible. He gives extra credit occasionally but you have to go to class regularly to keep up with those opportunities. He's not bad but he's not good.
He doesn't lecture. Lecture is just him talking about things that are on the newspaper. So you're on your own. You need to read read read and go to SI which sometimes suprisingly doesnt help. His tests are hard and try to fool you. He will change one word and make that his false answer. He tests differently which can hurt you. wouldnt recommend.
Tests are easy if you're the type to study by yourself and have a good memory. Attend SI sessions to get the practice questions; which basically makes up the test. If you're good at polysci there's really no need to show up to class. He does reward those who show up on empty days with extra credit. Lectures are boring & irrelevant most of the time.
1. Give you answers to the study guide before exams. 2. Only talks about current events. 3. 1 extra credit 4. attend SI sessions, you'll pass guarantee. 5. Do not have to go to class. 6. Do not need to get the book.
Emails answers to tests to those who show up to class and sign in. So SHOW UP even on usual days because you never know when he will decide to give you the answers. 3 tests, 1 extra credit syllabus test. Non comprehensive. Write 5 letters and turn them in for credit. Possible to pass. Out of 400 pts, I got 399. Just show up &memorize study guides.
it was tough but really helpful. Learned alot and actually got me more into political views. Just study the study guide and you should be good. Plus he offerrs alot of extra credit.
Dr. Driggers was a good teacher. Very rough guy - many saw him as unapproachable; though when I started asking him questions, I soon found myself having full conversations with him. Class is strange though. Driggers teaches by giving you hundreds of bullet points. I was fine with it - just write down what he says. Got 410 of 400. Just show up.
Great teacher, if you get offended easily don't take this class. He gives you a study guide and lectures are him answering the questions in order, if he does not get to all the questions he will email the questions to those who attended class. Tests are tough but fair.
This class is a class that you have to work to pass. The book is not really required but is a big help. Class time is spent going over current events for around 20 mins then you go over 3-4 questions from the study guide he provides. You have 4 tests and a 5 one page papers that don't require a lot of effort. Studying is required.
Driggers has to be one of my favorite instructors. Before taking is class I heard he was tough and sexist, but as a female I didn't feel like that at all. He was fair and gave us lots of history and info on current events. His perspective on what's going on with our government was interesting. He told us from the beginning what was expected.
Driggers was a great instructor. He is very brash in class but truly cares about his students. He's a military veteran and wants you to do your best. He gives you all of the material - even the test questions - so you have no reason to fail. He knows this, so he gives no sympathy "bumps" in the end. Just do your work and you'll do great.
Class is okay, Driggers is nice. SI is super helpful. The SI leader will help you as much as the professor, so you have two sources for help. Class is boring at times, but SI was so much fun. Take Dr. Driggers!
This class was overall pretty fair. Driggers has a unique sense of humor but it didn't bother me at all. Class is mainly just a discussion on current events. I did not go to Si, did not find it helpful. As long as you are good at memorizing you should be good. Attend class because he gives you the exact answers. He also gives extra credit.
If you are not good at keep up with class reading then do not take him. This is all we did in out class. The only grades you have are test and one paper.
