Easiest class i've ever taken, attendance doesn't matter, EAAASSYYY A
If you are not familiar with computers come to class and if you practice what you learned in class you will get an A. Tests are fair and he is an excellent professor!!!
Very specific style. Repeats so you record in your brain, very fair, very no nonsense. I learned much and had fun.

Whatever you do, don't take his class!
This was the hardest class I have ever taken in my life!!!
Really nice guy, just show up, do your work, and if you put any kind of effort into it you'll pass this class....
Must attend class, very strict but fair teacher. You must study to pass!!
What a looser!!! I never had a professor dummer than me, until now! Don't waste your time.
Great Professor!! Attendance does not matter, and tests are so easy! I would highly reccomend this class to anyone!
If you know computers you will do fine in this class. Even if you don't know that much but have some sense, you can pass with an A. The top 5 grades in the class do not have to take the exam. Come to class to get the credit. Very easy teacher
lots of group projects very vague when assignments are given. rushes a lot. his tests are open book and open note which is nice. but the class is very very boring.
The Professor is fair and is willing to help you if you do not understand material or think he is moving too fast. I am not a very computer savvy person, but made a 98 in his class, because he allows extra credit opportunity. He's outspoken and really encourages group participation. Just apply yourself, and you will do fine.
Online Class. Does not answer emails! assignments are vague and confusing! Very easy class, otherwise. Just be prepared to deal with a Professor that you have to nag to be able to get a response back. He is not helpful at all, but he is really nice (when you finally get a chance to communicate with him).
I don't understand why people give him bad feed back? He is a very understanding, intelligent teacher that gives students MORE THAN ENOUGH chances to get a good grade in the class. As long as you try you will succeed. He does talk a little fast sometimes, but like others have said.. just ask him to slow down and he will. Great prof HIGHLY recommend
I had him for Web Publishing! He is a very easy and helpful teacher! :) You do real life work on making web pages and to real people outside of school and learn hand to hand business ways to deal with people and what they way and hot to get for them. He also teaches Database and knows his stuff! He will sit with you and explain it to you! :)
I had him for Web Publishing! He is a very easy and helpful teacher! :) You do real life work on making web pages and to real people outside of school and learn hand to hand business ways to deal with people and what they want and how to get for them. I took Prof Hunchuck online and I'm so glad that I did. Prof. Hunchuck is great and yes if you have a question, you'll need to email him at least a day B-4 or early in the morning. Just do all your work on time & early if possible. He is very understanding and will help you anyway as much as he can. Take him, you won't regret it.
Great guy, also an amazing teacher. He is willing to work with all students
Really nice fellow. Class is mostly made up of males (it's programming...), and I can confidently say that the guys look up to him as a father figure. Very lenient with grading and attendance. Very chill guy. I'll definitely be taking him again.
Took him online for Web Design. Wow he makes it easy and clear about what he wants. I will take him again.
I took this professor online, this was the easiest A I've ever received. It's a self paced online course so everything was due the last 2 weeks of the semester. It was three tests and a final and he gave 3 attempts to do each of them and used the highest score as the grade. He uses simnet for ALL assignments and tests. The cost of simnet was $60.
I took his class in a classroom environment. Great Professor. I recommend sitting in the front row.
Awesome professor. Knowledgeable and entertaining.
I had Professor Hunchuck online but met him for orientation. He is very helpful and even offered to get a study group together to help us with certain Database problems we had. Overall if you do your work this is an easy A.
I took his Intro class on site. His teaching format is extremely fast paced and all over the place - he jumps from one thing to another assuming that the class knows everything that is going on (when anyone asks a question, they get ridiculed...by him). HOWEVER - if you meet with him and let him know that you need help he is EXTREMELY helpful.
Great teacher! He was very clear in his instructions in our projects. His way of explaining the logic of programming is amazing; it is impossible to not get what he's explaining!
This is an easy class, but you need to do your homework if you want to do well on the exams. Nice Class!!!
Prof. used SimNet for all assignments, which in turn had many tech. issues. It was hard to get a hold of him, but once you have, he is quite fair by posting the work on BlackBoard. However, I didn't like that we had to purchase SimNet and use it less often than intended.
Class was easy. He uses SimNet which consistently had issues. It also goes over 2013 versions of Excel, Powerpoint, Word and Access. Ended up posting assignments on Blackboard and giving multiple attempts to complete exams on SimNet. Very helpful with any questions or issues.
Take his classes on-site and sit in the front row. He uses video lessons, expands on them, is extremely knowledgeable in C and hilarious. Weekly assignments will keep you on your toes but he will always assist if you need help. I recommend taking both his COP1000 and COP2220, but as close together as possible.
He's an awesome professor and a super cool person. I had him on site for the class and he really wanted us all to do well. We originally used Simnet but it had a ton of issues so instead assignments were posted online in blackboard. He's very funny and super chill.
Great teacher very funny. Willing to help if you need it. As long as you ask question class should be simple.
He is a funny professor, always cracking jokes, he makes learning the basics of c an even more enjoyable experience. The assignments are straight forward, they correspond to what you just learned. The tests arent necessarily easy however they are pretty difficult to straight out fail if you pay attention. I recommend him
Need an easy computer class ?take him ! online is so easy you use a program simnet that is like 70 bucks you have 5 test and 5 assignments due ever week that are ridicously easy. The exams on simnet can be taken 5 times but trust me you wont need to retake em they are common sense test that are easy as hell i finished his ten week class in 3 weeks
Easy computer class. I received a perfect 100 every week on each of my assignments. You have assignments due every Sunday. He isn't very clear with directions sometimes, but I just did my best and got a 100 every week. You do not need the book unless you have no knowledge of computers. Easy A class! Take it online to save yourself some gas money.
I took him online for Web Site Development. I was new to Web Development and the class was initially difficult, but got easier. He follows the book and was late and vague when returning emails, but is very helpful once you get a hold of him. Got a lot of help from classmates and the web hosting company. He is much better onsite then online.
He is very knowledgeable and is a way better Professor in person than online. He is fun and fair and breaks things down in simple terms. If you take the time to meet with him, he will go out of his way to help you. If you struggle, he will give you the benefit of doubt as long as he sees you are trying. Got an A & highly recommend for onsite.
This is the 3rd class I took with him because he is a great teacher. Highly recommended for onsite, but not online courses. Very fair and tries to give you points wherever he can. Makes the class fun and breaks things down in simple terms. We did not have a book, but used a PowerPoint with video. As long as you try, he will help as needed.
Professor Hunchuck is very fair on grading exams. Answers phone calls or emails. Took Professor online 6 week course. 5 Exams which were really homework due every Sunday and final. Easy "A".
Easy online class. Like others stated simple assignments due once a week. Not hard at all Easy A. Definitely Recommend.
EASIEST CLASS EVER. 5 assignments and an exam. he is understanding if something happens with your computer and answers fast.
This is an amazing professor who will teach you what you need to know and then some, while also making you laugh. Really cares about his students, and the subjects he teaches. TAKE HIM
Easy class. Self-paced. I finished the coursework early, which gave me plenty of time to focus on my other courses before finals. The entire class is taught straight out of the book, so as long as you can follow directions and get your work in on time, you will pass.
I took Dennis Intro to Java class online. Pretty much follows the book. You can ignore the programming lab assignments. They will barely factor into your grade, and are incredibly time consuming and expensive. Make sure to double check your grades, I had to petition grade changes 3 or 4 times. He is terrible at email communications.
Great Teacher. Although there is a bit of homework, it's vital to learning the subject. He was always willing to provide assistance and allows you to challenge incorrect questions on tests. I would take him again for another subject.
Hilarious guy, in the beginning i thought he was a wacko, but later realized he actually made learning fun sometimes with his wacky in class games. Definitely encourage his in-class games. Always go over the answers you got wrong on tests, he will give you a chance to defend your answers.
bad online class. the course and assignments are left over from another class like he didn't even bother to do ANY work at all to prepare the class layout. there are Exams on things that aren't played out until the week after, sometimes the videos and the book are not enough help for assignments.
Meh. Took him for COP2822. All assignments are straight from the book. I have a fairly deep understanding of CSS and HTML so the class was easy for me. The nice thing was that all the assignments as well as tests are available from day one so you can work ahead. Except for the final (which I procrastinated on) I was always 3 weeks ahead.
better taken onsite b/c of many Q's. isnt really helpful. kind of a jerk in person. stopped sending him help Q's after 3rd wk due to him not caring. wouldnt take online EVER with him. try to find someone else. lets u work at your own pace 1 extra credit assignment, lots of web pgs to make. u need book, the book sux too. dont take him if u need help
Professor Hunchuck gives great lectures. There is no way to be bored in this class. Professor Hunhuck makes it clear what is on his tests.
Will take again.
ONLINE-WORST PROF! I've had to email him so many times and when he gets back to me DAYS later, I've already figured it out. On 1 assignment I couldn't figure out how I got the coding wrong. He was NO HELP! I had to look at one of the other student's sites in the developer tools and go thru it line by line to figure out what i did wrong. NEVER AGAIN
Hunchuck gives a lot of homework, and there are a few tests, but the lectures usually prepare you for them, and the homework isn't graded too harshly. The lectures outline what you need to know for the homework and next exam, and he suggests watching YouTube videos and reading the textbook, which I hardly did but it doesn't hurt.
I would definitely say take this class especially if online. It's a little confusing at times, but I'm taking the course right now we watch videos and do assignments. You definitely learn only if you pay attention to the videos, and do the assignments and no there are NOT a crap ton of assignments it's actually a reasonable amount.
He can come off as rude but he's a fun professor with a caustic sense of humor. There are a lot of assignments, but that's to expected since it's all coding. Just make sure you watch the videos or read up on the concepts and you'll be fine. He doesn't mind if you collaborate with others on the projects, so that's helpful as well. Will take again!
A solid choice. Always gives you some sort of feedback after every submission which shows you he cares about your progress. Does give extra credit by going to his Tech Talks which are very interesting. Some assignments are easy but others do have a bit more of a complexity to them.
He was AMAZING! He deserves more than 5 stars! I only wish he was at UCF as well. There are other professors that slack on grading and will not look at my homework that I turn in and just pass me. Hunchuck would run my code and tell me where I did well or not so well. Even after the class was over, he helped me with things like my resume TAKE HIM!
Connects very well with his students, highly recommend for anyone already interested in coding or wanting to become more interested!
I have taken Prof. Hunchuck for multiple programming classes and HIGHLY recommend him. He is clear on what he requires for assignments, and is very good on responding if you have any questions. His lectures are very good as well, and he does a good job at not making the class boring.
I took this class expecting my previous classes to have prepared me for it. I was wrong. I had to withdraw from the class. The professor didn't *actually* teach anything, you watch a playlist on youtube (which is free), and then during Real-Time Virtual class, you make programs with him. He doesn't teach, it's just practice for your self-teaching.
This was a pretty easy class as long as you have at least the bare minimum understanding of how to code. He has a bunch of lectures posted, none go over 20 minutes long. Sometimes I wish they were more detailed as some of the programs we had to write were a bit confusing or more complex. You will find versions of all programs uploaded to Youtube.
I went into this class knowing nothing of coding. He's a great professor to learn from, although his assignments were challenging sometimes as a new learner but he usually does similar ones during class so they're easy to figure out. He's an easy grader, just devote some time to learning the subject.
I selected hilarious because the class and the professor are quite the joke. The course material does not cover everything on the assignments- you must do research for yourself. Quizzes/tests mark the right answers as wrong. Plus side: the coding assignments aren't graded harshly. Easily the worst class I've ever taken.
Overall great teacher, understanding, and helpful. Pushes you to be better, he does not like slackers. But as long as you trying he will help you.
Loved his class!! It's very low maintenance and if you need help with anything he will zoom in and help you with your project. Attend the zoom! He goes over quizzes and HW and tests even if they aren't due yet. He may even do some of the assignment for you if you are there to catch because they aren't recorded. Absolutely would recommend
Professor Hunchuck fails to prepare students for the course material. I took his class, he has lecture videos but they lack in depth detail and are poorly explained as well as missing much context. I had to teach myself a lot on my own with youtube. His first few assignments are easy, but in the end, class average was 60 - 45 per program, tests too
Mr. Hunchuck was good professor. We earned python instead of C so that was great. He take this time to explain with lecture videos but you still will need help from outside sources which is stated in the syllabus. Overall great class.
BEWARE OF ONLINE CLASS! If you do not already have a STRONG foundational understanding of C, this prof's online class will be ROUGH. My Dad has been a software engineer for 20+ years +former com sci professor; even he felt that this professor was way too fast-paced and did not clearly explain the foundations before assigning challenging projects.
Attendance is very important since he doesn't post his in-class code or lecture. The homework was a program a week based on what he lectured for that week. He does expect you to be looking at other resources outside of class. If you need help though, he is very accessible and cares as much as you care. He's a little rude, but a good prof.
The online book isn't the best but I think all professors for this course use the same one. He seems nice but he locks the assignments until a certain date so you can't work ahead. This is a problem for people who learn in different styles and for people who work full time. If I knew this prior to enrolling I would have chosen differently.
I don't recommend this course to anyone new to programming. I'm not sure what the issue is with programming teachers but I noticed it's hard to find a good professor for IT courses in general - not just this college. He isn't horrible, but he isn't good. He has typing errors, the organization is odd, and there's no slideshows/notes to help.
Don't take if you have no knowledge of Python - you WILL BE teaching yourself. An online course doesnt mean complete lack of professor. The professor is no help & doesn't serve a purpose other than giving out bad grades. He takes points off for certain things that were never even stated in his poorly written google slide rules for the assignments.
This guy isn't even that great of a programmer himself so he shouldn't be teaching this course. It's also at an advanced level NOT BEGINNER. He uses broken English - he can't spell and the course isn't the most organized. No teaching happens at all, this class is do it yourself pretty much. He literally even says to "use the google"
NOT FOR BEGINNERS! You can pass the class easy because any outside help is allowed BUT if you want to actually LEARN do NOT take his class!!!!
If you care, he cares. Gave 50 points extra credit for submitting a group project the day it was assigned, which I did. Oral exam for another group project where he asks you about the code you submitted, which was fun. Last day was an optional jeopardy game for 5-20 points extra credit on exams. Lowest exam score, including the final, is dropped.
I would not recommend this professor and course if you are a beginner at Python. There were so many technical errors during this course and he did little to nothing to fix them. There were no lectures/powerpoints, feedback was inadequate or nonexistent, and you'll just end up having to teach yourself.
If you are not familiar with programming or still learning and/or overall still new to programming this class will be difficult. You have projects about four, when I took the course we used Cengage, most of the HW assignments/Classwork were through there plus the readings. Two group projects and one test/final is dropped aka your lowest grade.
i recommend using only the materials from week a and week b. don't use his resources for learning python. just google it. he gives light homework imo. i mostly self learned how to code in python by just doing the assignments and googling it if i didn't know which is pretty effective in learning.
I like him.
I like him. Conscientious professor, lessons are not too difficult but useful.
Awful Course he is so lazy and does not GAF ignores emails just puts out this MCGRAW Simnet junk thay is so hard and tedious to do. Basically Hours and hours of busy work that has no purpose at all. It will make you rage. Please stear clear and avoid this teacher specifically. There are lots of positive reviews wich he proably payed for and fake:(
Professor Hunchuck cares about teaching. He clearly is passionate about programming and enjoys the class dynamic. At the end of the class he substituted the final exam with a game of jeopardy. One of the group projects has an oral presentation, that can be a little intense, but if you wrote the code and know what you submitted it's easy.
You can pass! Tests are open book and clear grading feedback. You have projects to do to help you learn and everything seems self explanatory. He guided us to create an AI notebook to aid us in the future.
Great Teacher, must be on top of your work but an easy A
