Very nutty professor. You never know what to expect when you walk in but he keeps you entertained the entire class period. He was very knowledgable and I got a lot out of that class.

EASY CLASS. great teacher, very strange man. his jokes are cheesey but it keeps the class interesting because you never know what he'll do next. attendance is important because tests come mostly from his lecture. We didn't even have a final exam, only short paper and peer-graded presentation. easy A if you go to class. LOTS of extra credit.

Take him! Very easy class. Attendance is taken, but he only takes off points if he feels like it. You have to study for tests, but there are many opportunities for extra credit. An A is easy if you study a little for tests.

Great Teacher had him for 2171 and intro to SOCY. Had a great time in his classes. Final exam was optional if you did a presentation with a group. Very easy alternative to a final exam. Lively little guy thats excited about teaching. If you try in his class you'll like it. If you dont try and dont come to class you wont enjoy it and will do poorly.

I took the course because I needed the semester hours but the professor was so big time awesome that I changed my major to sociology. Now I can't wait till fall to take more of his classes. My first year at UNCC. I only pray that all my teachers are as totally hot as him. When I had a problem, he helped. But he called me out when I was late. I didn't like that but never came late again.

I think Stevens is the same professor I had some time ago. He kicked me in the butt, called me out in class, helped me when I needed help, and guided me through to grad shool. Pretty fun teacher. He's a smart man (and he knows it). I suggest taking notes on a computer because he begins to rant in the middle of the powerpoint, then rushes the rest of it before class ends. Amazing, incredible, and awesome - no other way to describe him. A few students said he tests on his opinion, but they forgot to say that he wrote the textbooks for his classes. How awesome is that! When I graduated last month, Doc went out of his to help me get a job with a federal agency. At the end of semester I learned stuff I could use.

Dr. Stevens is a very bright and funny professor. I wish he taught every one of my classes at UNCC. What I like most about him is that he cares about his students, he answers his emails, and he goes out of way to respect me. Love him. Because of him I declaired my major as sociology.

Dr. Stevens can be harsh at times but overall he's a good professor. His high expectations surprise some people but I think it's reasonable being at a college level. Attendance is mandatory. The tests are easy with minimal studying and the lectures are usually interesting. I would take a course with him again.

Dr. Stevens is awesome! He is very knowledgeable, and easy to talk to if you are having problems. He can come off as abrasive at times, but it is just because of the expectations he has for his students. I have taken 4 classes with Dr. Stevens and I think he is a great professor. He is not everyone's cup of tea though. He tells a lot of stories, is very helpful and caring, and tries very hard to keep the class entertained.

Had him for criminology. I was annoyed and had trouble with his class at first, but as long as do your papers in proper format, go to class, and participate in the group project, he'll at least give you a B. He is hilarious with his stories and entertains throughout the class. He despises slackers and those who dont follow directions. Awesome guy

Now that I have graduated three years ago (2013), I wish there were more Dr. Stevensssss. I learned more from him than all my CJ professors combined. I got an awesome job because of him and his support. I have been promoted many times because of my hard work and because of his inspiration and encouragement. He's the dad I never had. Love him.

I've just been promoted at NYPD (again) because of Dr. Stevens and the things he explained about the chain of command and police supervisors.
