Took him for both BMS 125 and BMS 142, and he is super straight forward with his lessons. There isn't a lot of homework, his tests are exactly what he goes over. And if you have any questions he is always willing to help out.
Same as above review, very straightforward and is willing to answer any question.
Took him for discrete. Cant teach for ****. Basically read word for word out of the book. Willing to help out tho.
Prof.Miller is probably one of the better Math teachers at DePaul. He's very patient and understanding and will never allow a particular student to fall behind in class. Always willing to help and stay after class- a good guy.
Very straightforward, always willing to help students, gives opportunities to improve grades. Great professor!
I really like the way how class is run. Quizzes every friday help you keep up with the material, even if he cant teach worth ****. quizzes can bring grade up. He is boring and always seems pissed off. Has anyone seen Doc Brown??
he is awesome.....quizzes are great because it is just like what he went over..good way to improve grades....i suggest to take him..i know i will for 142. great professor..BY THE WAY HE CAN TEACH!! lazy people think he cant teach
Definitely the professor to take for any business calc class! Quizes help raise your grade and they are extremely easy! He doesn't grade h/w...the Midterm and Final...very easy as well!

Topic of class is very boring so it's hard to expect him to make it interesting. There was homework every night but it was easy. A lot of work involved in the class but it was all easy.

Miller Rocks! So helpful, clear, and organized. Final, Midterm, 3 EZ computer assignments, and hw turned in day of final. TAKE HIM! Youll understand it. Incredibly nice. Asset to BMS dept.
Took him for both courses. Both were not that diffcult. Willing to help. Knows how to run a class the right way.
Miller is one of the better prof.'s in the BMS dept. He understands his material very well, and structures the class in a well to do format. I recomend Miller for all BMS courses
Really not that easy like the other people say. Does not explain material that will be on exam. Would not take him again
Boring class. Hard to hear him over the el. Homework was collected at end of the quarter. Hard grader. Expected a better grade than I received.
Good but BORING!
Good teacher but gets bored himself. All he does is lecture and goes over example after example. If you can't do mornings, then it's not good to take him cuz you'll keep sleeping in class, otherwise, easy and nice guy. doesn't make you feel dumb.don't talk in class cuz he is quiet but will snap.
This is probably one of the easiest math teachers judging from what I've heard about the rest. Yeah the class is boring, but it is kind of hard to make that subject interesting. Take him
true he might be boring, there is a midterm, final, homework is due on the day of the final, and 3 computer assignments, and he is quiet, it is very possible to pass his class even if you did not do so well on the midterm.
He is a really good professor, the material is easy from the beginning and gets a little harder after midterm. He explains very well. He gives review problems before the midterm/final, make sure you understand how to do each problem, cuz some problems repeat on the actual test or are very similiar.
The class was boring, but easy. You have to be good in math. He is nice. If you are not good at math, its good that you let him know, go to the free tutorings and do extra studying, but who knows if that helps !!
He is a pretty laid back teacher. Thinks knowing terms is important and first page of tests were all term questions. Fair grader and not an excessive amount of homework. Boring class.
He is a nice guy that likes to teach. He is pretty hard and you have to study to understand the material. He is overall "ok"
Tests and quizzes are difficult. You really need to study long and hard! Class is boring. Miller seems like a great guy, but his lectures almost put me to sleep.
He is a very good teacher. For my class he assigned the odd problems for HW and did the even in class so the homework was easy to understand. Homework is assigned but not collected or graded. He gives 4 quizes worth 1/3 of the grade and the midterm and final are worth 1/3 a piece. Take him he's good
He worked on the even problems in class so when you had to do the odds for homework (which he doesn't collect) you could just look back in your notes and figure the problem out.His tests and quizzes are somewhat difficult because he puts complex problems on there that he didn't cover too well.
he explains any question you ask him. he is very clear about what he expects from you. his quizzes and tests are straight from the notes. good teacher.
Miller Rulz, He is very easy and a great teacher. I am definately going to take him again.
He was a great teacher, and explained everything very clearly!
Excellent. Explains everything very clearly, lets you redo assignments so you can get a better grade, problems on exams are from the notes and/or homework. Also very nice; good guy. Very highly recommended!
Best Mathematics professor I have ever had. Suddenly I understand everything! Wish I took him for 125 too.
GREAT TEACHER!! He explains well and answers any questions you might have. You actually understand math! 4 quizes and a final, all from notes and homework. One of the best professors at DePaul
Pretty decent teacher. doesn't waste your time in class, he just asks if there are questions from the hw - which he doesn't grade. then does examples of the evens from the problem set for that days work. very boring class, but lets you out ussually half-way throught class. 4 quizes worth 40% and 1 final worth 60%.
Excellent professor. There is almost homework everyday, but the homework is never collected. There are four quizzes worth 60% of the grade, which are easier than the homework. The final is worth 40% and is very similar to the quizzes. Best math teacher I've had so far.
Easy as hell for BMS 125 at least. Does alot of even problems assigns the odds and easy quizzes. take him fro 125 if you can.
I thought he'd be awesome by reading all the reviews people gave him, but I was pretty disappointed. The class is easy as hell but he's a jack ass about grading quizes... he gave me a C on a quiz for not putting the right notation... overall, not bad.
He is very clear and his quizes which count for 60% of your grade are really easy. He cares about you understanding the material more than giving hard tests or quizes. I really enjoyed his class.
Presents all the material in a very clear and organized way. Does not take attendance or check homework.
He was sooooo boring and likes to talk to himself. Very hard to follow because he is always erasing things and rewriting them. Gives a midterm and final only. hands out pre-exam study guides which seem to be helpful. collects homework at the end of the term and has 2 or 3 computer assignments throughout the course.
Very Easy Class. There's 1 midterm, final, 2-3 computer assignments, and HW collected in the end. Practice midterm and final given. Great prof. explains materials very clearly. Will answer all questions! Highly recommended, however, very boring class.
I thought he was great. Very clear and organized. Midterm and final were very easy, I got a 100 on both. Its a shame he doesn't teach 126 because every prof is awful.
Very average joe kind of guy & explains everything in layman's term which is wonderful. This guy is for u if math is not your kind of subject. Make sure u go everyday so u can get great notes & do all the hw/computer assignments. Midterm/final is like the study guide, so study that. He also goes over the answers for the study guide beforehand.
He explains tihngs in very simple terms. If you read the book (it's pretty interesting anyway), don't miss too many classes and do the assignments, you'll be more than fine.He gives handouts before the midterm and final, and lets you do computer assignments as many times you want.He also curves at the end. I still can''t believe I got an A :)
Simply easy. Very clear and concise. Take good notes, study them, do the hw and you will be do well!
Prof. Miller is the best teacher I have had so far at DePaul. He explains things soooo well. Math is definitely not my subject, yet I still managed to do very well. His notes are very clear and if you study them you will most likely get an A in the class. Also, he ends class early almost every day.
If you do the recommended problems, the quizes and exams are SIMPLE.
Not very helpful, hard grader even with the tutor it didn't help. He skips steps when doing the problems.
Prof. Miller is an amazing teacher. He really knows his stuff and is always more than willing to explain things over and over until you understand the material. I had him twice and I'd take him again. He can be a bore, but you can't beat how well he can teach.
Do the homework and the studyguide and you will be fine on the exams.
this is one of the few BMS teachers in DePaul who make it simple for the student to do math. his tests are easy, just do the homework problems. i would say though that he takes points off for the smallest things. but who cares when he gives you similar problems from the homework and also the easiest.
Do the homework on a daily bases. No quizzes. Midterm/Final/Computer assignments (easy credit). Ask questions.
TAKE HIM! He is the best math professor I have ever taken. Clear and straight to the point. Like any math class, do the homework and you should do well. Quizzes and hmwk are no surprises from the final. Does not collect homework, 4 quizzes, one final.
He is probably one of the best BMS professors at DePaul. He is very clear, moves through the material fairly quickly which is o.k., because he explains things in a very simple and understandable way.If you do the homework, you will pass the quizzes and the final. He is willing to answer any questions.Class always ended early, and I always got it.
I had already lost faith in depaul's math department, but then Dennis Miller proved me wrong. He's fast paced, extremely CLEAR, his exams are based on the homework so he's not trying to screw any one over. All in all just a great professor.
Best math professor I have ever taken. He explains things clearly and makes math easy. Take him! Take him! Take him!
I've heard he's not bad at teaching calculus. For stats he is the only teacher that makes students do computer assignments, hmwk is collected at the very end not throughout the course. Not very good about calculator short cuts which other classes are able to use on exams. Recommend anyone else.
One of the best math teachers I have ever taken. He assigns daily homework, which is not a lot, but he does not grade it or collect it. There are 5 quizzes worth 60% of your grade and one final which is 40%. Quizzes are exactly like the homework. His method of teaching is very clear and helped me understand business calculus. Great professor!
This class is way too easy! I didnt buy the book and just went to 3/4 of the classes and finished with an A! Mr. Miller goes over everything in the classes right before the quizzes and the test problems look exactly like your notes. Take this class
I have no idea what the previous guy is talking about. Yes, Miller does assign computer assignments, but they each take less than 10 minutes to do. And he collects homework and has the computer assignments so that you can get easy points so if you bomb the final or midterm you can still pass the class. He is an excellent teacher, very clear!
AWESOME PROFESSOR! HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!! VERY HELPFUL!!
excellent professor. Cares about students. Take a class with him!
Great Prof. Makes hard calculus concepts seem very simple. After dropping this class winter quarter for doing terrible on the midterm with another prof, I took him and ended up with an A-. Highly recommend him if you want to understand all of the concepts. He even tends to let class out early pretty often. Overall, Great Guy, Hard Subject made easy
Great Professor! I struggled in 135 but I'm doing great in his class. He assigns homework daily but it's all review from what is taught in class. He uses a lot of examples and really explains everything clearly. I'm taking him next quarter for stats!
Best teacher...very thorough and clear. Quizzes and exams consist of basic problems, just like the homework and examples that he gives. Really just wants you to understand the important concepts so he skips over the unimportant stuff and doesn't give ridiculous numbers to work with.
He's a good teacher. Teaches math in a very easy way. Although I got a C in his class, I would take him again because the way he teached. No midterm or final, just 4 or 5 test. Easy tests about 5-10 problems and most are from class and hw. Attendance isn't mandatory, he does offer makeups if you missed exams. Just do the hw and you b fine
Good professor. teaches you what you need to know. Tests and quizzes are just like the hw. Very good at explaining everything.
This teacher is terrible so much homework. Hard Grader if u was to have to retake Stats i would recommend taking him.
Miller is fantastic. He cuts through the bulk of the text seamlessly, focusing on the most important material (but still keeps it sequential). He actually made me enjoy Calculus. A bit picky, but generally very reasonable and often gave me partial credit(e.g. for forgetting a negative sign). I'd take him again in a heartbeat.
I've had about 6 different math teachers in my High School lifetime. This guy beats all of them. He repeats examples until you get them, and all the quizzes are based on homework (which he doesn't even check). Recommend 100%
Absolutely an amazing professor. Pretty old school - doesn't bother learning names, only discusses class material, doesn't take attendance, doesn't grade the homework, 4 test and one final. Such a clear teacher. He has a gift at making this intro to calculus class interesting & easy to understand. Easy A if you go to class & give an honest effort.
Great Professor. Very laid back, knows his stuff, quizes are right from the homework. Final exams are from the quizes. Easy A.
Really laid back guy, knows his stuff, quizzes are straight from the homework. Finals are from the quizzes, easy A.
You only need the book for the HW. HW is due at the end of the course and Mid term was easy.
Made the mistake of taking this class at 8:30 am. His monotone voice put me to sleep every class. He is often unclear and confuses even himself sometimes. Overall not too bad of a class, pretty easy as long as you do the hw you'll be fine.
confuses himself a lot. not as easy as everyone told me. course material is very difficult and explains it in a very confusing manner. the stuff i previously knew he taught and i was lost when i knew how to do it. avoid at all costs if math is not your strong suit, you basically have to teach yourself everything.
Laid back, old school professor. Very picky on doing the correct notations. The class consists of 4 tests, but more like small quizzes. Homework isn't mandatory but I recommend you do it because the quizzes are just like the homework. I enjoyed the class and their wasn't a lot of time put into it.
Terrible teacher. Doesn't care one bit about you. Teaching methods are outdated; he makes the concepts way more confusing than they are. Seriously can't teach effectively, I had to read the book for everything. Insanely picky grader, especially on the final quiz, which is INCREDIBLY HARD. Makes you work everything out on paper!! Do not take him!
From my experience, Professor Miller teaches in a clear and easy way. He doesn't over complicate things, just wants you to understand the basics. But that doesn't mean you can just relax and not pay attention. One of the best classes if you pay attention, take notes and study for tests. Definitely would take him again if I had to.
Oldschool, no bull style of teaching. Does not require you to attend lectures or to do homework; however, doing both will go a long way in helping you through the class. He explains things well in his lectures and gives you all the tools to succeed in his class; since he is more old fashioned it is up to you to take advantage of what he provides.
If you want to simply pass stats, take him. Simple to pass. If you want to get an A, don't take him. Midterm was a joke but if you make the easiest mistake, he takes off. Final is a lot harder. Emotionless teacher. Didn't like him. Don't recommend him at all.
Great teacher. Confuses himself sometimes. Does not grade homework (but I suggest you do it because it is exactly like what will be on the quzzes and final)nor makes attendance mandatory. Gives 4 quizzes and a final. Basically come to class and do your homework and you should be fine. Definitely taking him again for 136 and 137
Professor Miller is a great teacher! He explains everything very clearly, and only assigns homework problems that we have covered in class. He also goes over any homework questions in the next class, which is super helpful! The bi-weekly exams and the final exam are exactly like the homework problems he assigns. No surprises! Take him!!
Very emotionless- seems like he hates his life and teaching. Stats was hard for me. He did nothing to engage the class and it was difficult to keep up. Easy in terms of grade- Online Homework due at the end of the quarter and attendance isn't mandatory.
You must attend class in order to understand the material. It may seem as if he is not willing to answer questions, but I don't think it's intentional. He always answers questions and goes over hwexams. Explains further with examples if most of the class is struggling. Put in the work, HW isn't mandatory, but DO IT!!! Practice makes perfect.
If Math isn't your strong suit, DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Rude to students when asked questions - he rolls his eyes. Only 4 tests the whole quarter - ridiculous. The final counts for 40% of your grade. Moves at a very fast pace and expects students to know most of the criteria already. Grades HARD and takes off for small unimportant marks.
Great math professor gives good review problems. FInal isn't that bad either. 4 quizzes and 1 final. His personality is a little hard to get used to but he's a good guy overall. Focus in class. He goes over a lot in class if you aks him.
4 Tests and 1 Final. Clear and straight-forward. Very direct individual. Classes are usually quiet and mostly lecture. Textbook is utilized and good for reviewing before exams. A slight personal hygiene issue; perhaps sit in the middle area of the classroom.
MAT 136 is harder than 135. He's willing to help during offfice hours and does probelms on paper to give you. Tests are like the hw and final is like the tests literally. Also they are really short, but not multiple choice. He is clear when explaining stuff but you need to ask him! Goes over everything but tells you what is on the exams.
The easiest math professor I have had in my life. Just show up for class & do the hw even though it's not mandatory bc the biweekly exams and final is just like the hw problems. Exams are really short. Even if you're not a math person, just follow his steps in class and don't be afraid to as questions.
easiest exams ever!! I'm a freshman and was really scared about calc but his exams are exactly like the homework. be sure to do the homework even though they aren't mandatory and you should be fine. he's not the most entertaining professor but if you want an easy A, take his class.
He does not make sense in his lectures and there is only 5 graded assignments in the class. 4 exams 70% of grade, and the final 30% of grade. so if you mess up on one exam I will really hurt you grade wise.
Was a lot better than I thought it was going to be after coming out of a rough BUS135 with a horrible prof. He's super helpful & always takes time to go over any HW questions every class. Dropped worst test grade and swapped it out with the grade you get on the final. Show up and take notes and do your HW and you'll be fine.
His lectures can sometimes be confusing because he has a habit of starting sentences, not finishing then, and moving on to a completely different thought. Tests are easy; exactly like the homework problems. I found that he likes to teach using notation more so than applying actual numbers so if that doesn't bother you then take him for math.
Professor Miller is the best math teach I have ever had. He is extremely straight forward. Do the homework because the tests are very similar to it. Four exams throughout the quarter are 70% and Final is 30%. I took him for 135 and 136. He was closed for 137 otherwise I would have taken him again! I highly recommend.
I have never liked math. However, this was the first math class that I actually enjoyed going to. Professor Miller is the most clear, straight-forward, and organized math teacher I've ever had in my entire life. The test questions are exactly like the homework, and his knowledge of the topic is amazing. I'm looking forward to MAT137 with him.
Professor Miller's classes are not very hard if you pay attention. He moves pretty quickly, but he is completely fine with answering questions you may have. He doesn't take attendance, so you really don't have to show up, but it's hard to do well without his notes. Also the homework is not mandatory, but it's really the only way to do well on tests
Super Hard thought he would be an easy teacher because of the reviews but he changed everything. TEST are very hard, with questions he never taught in class
Not a very good teacher, he doesnt explain the material clearly. Had to use youtube to learn the material. Ended up with a C. Should have taken an easier teacher for an A or B
Homework is not mandatory, neither is attendance. But if you go to class, or at LEAST do the homework, the 4 tests are exactly like the homework problems, which he goes over at the beginning of the class. Easy A if you show up and do the homework.
This class is easy to get an A, as long as you show up to class and do the homework. His lectures are very straightforward, the homework he assigns but doesn't check, but make sure to do it because its very helpful for the exams. Exams as easy as long as you do the homework. The book is not necessary but you need it to do the homework. Recommend!
I loved Prof Miller! Bus Calc 2 isn't always the easiest class, but he clearly explains everything and is willing to help you out and provide more examples. He's a little quirky, but super nice. I really recommend taking him for a math class.
Professor Miller is very knowledgeable on the subject. At times he may seem sporadic but his intelligence shines through. The class is not very difficult and the tests are pretty easy and short. There are 4 exams plus the final. The homework is not mandatory but it is the best way to study. Good class overall
He is just OK. His tests are super easy though!! But!!! IF you are expecting to learn in class, or you are a student who needs a good professor to excel in class. Forget about him. Don't buy the book. Buy MyMath lab. You will learn soooo much more from the software than from him. He talks about random stuff we don't need for class; just ignore.
He's fine. If you really want to learn something don't take him. Had to teach myself the stuff for the final exam. Does not really help much outside of class so if you want easy tests and grading criteria than take him.
If you are just looking to just pass this class, then take him. If you wanna learn then don't. Lectures are the most boring thing I have ever sat through, emotionless, and he doesn't actually teach. HW is online, as long as you do it you get a 100% on them. Midterm was easy, final was hard because he did not teach well. Notecard for both exams.
Prof Miller was just OK. Never had to go to class b/c he doesn't take attendance which only ends up hurting you. Only 3 exams and a final.. kinda scary.
Prof. Miller wasn't the best teacher. I hope you remember everything from 135 because he doesn't review anything and assumes you know it well. Very boring lectures. The only grades were 3 exams and a final but he replaces your lowest test grade with the final exam IF you did better on the final.
He's primarily an excellent professor. Just show up to class, do the homework, and you will pass because exams are just like the homework problems. Usually in these classes most students drop because there are 3 exams and a final. EXAMS ARE NOT HARD! homework is not mandatory, but if you do them you will pass! Just show up to class (not mand) hw!
If you are not good in math this is the teacher to take. He is very kind and caring. His class is not fast, he goes on the right pace and explains your question if you have any doubts. You have 4 exams and he drops your lowest one. If you study you will get an A. I was never good in math and I have A in his class. Highly recommend.
Miller will never take attendance, besides on the first week because DePaul made it mandatory . The class is 70% exams (three exams in total) and 30% final . The exams that you have are similar to the homework problems, just with different numbers . Make sure to go to the class session before an exam bc he will tell you what is on the exam .
Dennis is a good professor overall, and in terms of Depaul mathematics one of the best. Homework is optional and so is attendance, but both are necessary to pass the class, 136 IS MUCH HARDER THAN 135. Ive taken him for both. You must hold yourself accountable in this class, because he wont. Do the homework and youll pass all 4 tests & Final.
Easy A class. Do the homework and know how to do it without notes you will pass. Homework not graded, but do it. 3 chapter tests every 2 weeks, review homework and you're set. If you study all the chapter tests for the final you are set. Lectures give you everything you need to succeed in the class. I would take this class for fun, it was so easy.
If you aren't that good at math and you want to take a math class that will get you the A then take this class. Optional homework but you should do it if you want to learn. You have 3 tests and a final which will replace one of the tests you do the worst on. The tests are super easy and taken straight from the book, sometimes even a few questions.
Dennis is the sweetest professor. He explains his content clearly and makes his lectures available outside of class so you don't need to show up. No assignments are due until the very end of the quarter which allows you to complete them at your own time. He grades on a rolling basis. Highly recommend!!
There is a lot to learn for this class and the way he teaches could be confusing for most people. Be ready to teach yourself.
When I signed up for this class, this dude has amazing reviews. I do NOT recommend Miller if MAT137 is just a requirement and you need to get it done to take finance. This dude is a total snoozer, I literally can not stay awake during his in person lecture. The review sheet was completely different than the final. Miller is a sweet guy but no.
really nice guy but he is not a good prof. he lectures so much, all it is is lecture no changes. the class is painfully boring and you have to reteach yourself it because he does not give calculator directions and the homework is completely different than what he teaches.
Miller's lectures were easy to follow and clear. But he does have a very soft and quivering voice, so class can feel quite dull. I found myself looking toward the clock every 15 min. Easy class in general. He gave a few extra cred assignments at the end of the quarter. If you listen carefully, he's actually kinda funny with a dry sense of humor.
Take him asynchronous if you can. I took him in person and the materials/tests weren't bad, they were easy. His lectures just go on and on and on, and you would learn more in 20-30 minutes about stats on your own versus 1.5 hours with him. He's very understanding tho! Grades easy
Take this class if you want an A. Do NOT take this class if you want to learn about business statistics. He is very flexible with due dates and grading. He grades very easily. Can I say that I remembered what he taught? No. Will I remember getting an A for this class? Yes.
Super nice and easy. 30% midterm, 30% final, 20% excel, 20% homework. The homework was pretty time consuming- about 2 hours per MyLab. He gives a lot of extra credit at the end of the quarter and it really boosts your grade. Highly recommend.
A fairly easy class to achieve an A in. Homework takes a while to complete in exchange for it being worth 40% of the grade. The midterm and final review sheets are good ways to study the material before a major exam. The professor knows what he is talking about but is often hard to hear as he speaks in a very hushed tone.
Very nice guy but not the best at teaching. Highly recommend going to the SI tutors for extra help with this class.
He's very nice and accomadating if you miss an exam, etc. However, he goes really fast and he doesn't explain things very in depth. Also, he writes very small/has bad handwriting and it's difficult to see the board if you're not in the very front row.
This is the best review: This guy was slow, very boring, and easy. If you are remotely smart you will get an A. You get a cheat sheet for exams, homework is due at the end of the semester. I'd recommend taking this guy because of the cheat sheet. I barely studied and got a 97 on the midterm. Just pay attention in class and YOU WILL GET AN A.
Hes really nice! but kind of slow. The material can get a bit confusing for him but he tries his best to explain things as clear as possible, doesn't seem to be too tech savvy, soft spoken and the lectures could get a bit dull. Take the class if you're okay to teach yourself some of the material. Overall decent class make sure to make a buddy.
DO NOT TAKE DENNIS MILLER! I took him for MAT 137 and while he is a nice person he has no idea what he is doing. I had to teach myself all of the material and the homework was overwhelming and took hours each time. Avoid avoid avoid.
The professor is not proficient in excel, which the course is formatted around. You'll learn more by going to SI sessions than going to class. He allows a note sheet for exams, so just write down the formulas from the excel summaries on D2L and know when to use them and you can easily ace every question. Easy A if you put in time and effort.
Nice professor but its a lot of self learning b/c he's hard to hear in lectures and slides dont provide enough info. Class is graded on pearson hw (super heavy), 7 excel assignments, midterm, and final. He also tends to curve grades which is really nice. This is a hard class but if you put in the effort you will be fine.
If you don't have any other choice and he fits your schedule then do it. BUT 100% look for the MAT 137 tutor & GO to him, the tutor is the only reason why I understood what was going on half the time in class. Excel heavy, gives extended deadlines at the end to turn in late work, and midterm & finals were easy for the most part, if you study!
