He has a knack for conveying math to his students. He is the best math professor you can have.
A hot tamale for this sexpot of a Math prof. I just loved looking at him do Math.
Now i hate math but this guy was so good to me and all his student by the end of the semester i loved the class!
(also MA23) If u can't learn math from this guy, you can't learn it from anyone. In terms of being able to impart knowledge to students, he is the absolute best professor I have ever had.
A very good teacher, but very hard for calculus II. If you're not a math or an engineering major, take an easier prof.
everyone i know in the class was in his office at one point or another (myself included), crying about how hard math is! But we all did wonderfully, and he made extra help a priority in his buisy schedual. If you need to learn, he's your guy.
"If you do the work you will do well" -He's awesome. He's an excellent teacher and has the personality that keeps your interest. -Have you ever found that in a math teacher before??? I would no doubt take another class with him if gi
excellent teacher.
This guy rocks, im a giant smart A$$, he didn't take my crap, he threw it back at me. Seriously, he's a good teacher with a personality, do the homework and study and you'll pull an A.
good teacher, explains things well..lots of notes.. but the thing i hate about him is he doesnt really review for tests at all...he'll start on another chapter before you even take the test ..thats kind of annoying but hes nice and hes always willing to help you
Great professor. He explains things so that they make perfect sense. His tests are a challenge, but not a struggle. He's the best there is.
He's nice and has the type of personality that will keep you interested, even if you hate the stuff. do the work, stay focused and you'll do well, I promise. Ask questions and he will explain them throughly. Great guy! I would defintely take him again!
He helped me alot i would just say to take a class and put your own comments.
He is the best!! His class may be a little difficult if you don't put in any effort. He is verry willing to work with you and will go over any problem you need to in class. Also, he is always available to help in his office...I was in there constantly! I took two of his classes and would have taken more if i didn't transfer!!
He explains everything in detail (sometimes too much). He assigns a lot of homework, but doesn't collect it. Some quiz ?'s were straight from the assignments. One bad thing: If he is running short on time, he'll lecture before a test and expect you to take the exam in the second hour of class. This can get annoying. He is always 5 minutes late.
He is a very fair professor. If you do the work and ask questions you will do well. If you don't do the work, you'll get what you deserve.
He is an excellent professor! He will answer any questions you have and he explains things well in his lessons. No, this does not mean the class will be easy. It is actually quite difficult and draining but if you do the work you should be fine!!
GREAT Proffessor. I was always horrible at Math. However with his guidance and explanantion got an A. If you do the work you will do well. He is very open to questions, and will make sure you get it! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Wouldn't take this professor again. He does teach in detail but once the test comes you feel like you've never seen the stuff before. I was a B student in math until he failed me. DON'T TAKE UNLESS YOUR AN A+++++ STUDENT AND LOVE MATH AS MUCH AS HE DOES.
Professor Reissig is a good teacher. If you go to class, and do the homework you will get an A. he offers help too. its not the most exciting class but you will do fine
LOVE THIS TEACHER... i'm a math major and i've never seen math explained so clearly before. If he can't teach you calc, no one can. Homework is not mandatory but you will benefit from doing it, and he is a very fair test grader!! He's pretty witty, and overall a very nice guy. Always offers help. TAKE HIM!
Very nice. Explains everything in detail, answers everyones questions, goes over the hw if necessary. Tests aren't the worst but not that easy either. Even though he explains everything in detail, I stil seem to have trouble when it comes to test time, but math has never been my strong point. He's helpful, I'd takae him again.
very good at what he dose, if your not a good math student take his class, he explains everything very well and gets into details with every problem.
VERY nice guy! Hard time w/ math over the summer. Went to office hours almost every day! helped alot.
An excellent, patient pro who does all that is humanly possible to help his students. He gives a lot of homework for your own good. He doesn't check it, but If you don't do it, you'll find it difficult doing well on the tests. He is an extremely fair grader and does all he can to help you learn the concepts and pass his class. I give him an A+.
no way he's a nice guy and all but not a good professor dont take him at all he makes you feel like a dumbass cant stand him i cant stop biting my nails from boredom and i actually like math but def.not with him
i agree that he makes me feel stupid for asking questions, but i feel quite tentive in his class (for the most part) A LOT of homework that you must do in order to really get what he's talking about. i would take him again.
he was very weird , total math geek , but he actually made u learn....you have to work hard for an A
what a great guy. teaches at a slow pace so you understand everything, he's very patient and will work with you at anytime. he really cares and wants you to do good.
Good professor.
SKIP THIS GUY. Always A's in math classes, didn't get below a 90 in precalc 1. Did terrible in reissig's 2nd precalc cause hes a joke. His goal is to trick you on tests, Didn't think a teacher could destroy me in math but he did the job.
tests are very hard, you have to be dedicated to studying to do well.Dont expect to walk in and pass without studying it is math now. He is extremely helpful.
Hes a really good teacher...u just have to keep up with the lessons and if u don't, be prepared to fail his tests. His tests are ONLY tricky if u dont study. He also tutors u in his office if u dont understand the material...hes pretty cool...just keep up and u'll be fine.
He is a very helpful teacher. As long as you do the homework and go to class you will pass.
He's a good teacher and has a good outline of what he is planning to teach, its just very unclear. He doesn't make things easy to understand. You MUST go to class and you must do the work at home, or it will be very hard to pass his class.
I had this Prof. for 3 semesters. I could never say how incredibly he truly is, there's no words. He really cares about you. If he thinks you don't care don't expect much help though. If you care, try, and go to his office hours will do everything in his power to help you. Amazing class!
im barely passes his class, but its only developemntal math so it doesnt affect my GPA, and im math retarded...but i actually learned alot in his class!!!! HES A GREAT TEACHER AND CARES ALOT ABOUT IF HIS STUDENTS PASS!
Prof. Reissig is amazing! I cannot say enough great things about him. He truly cares for his students and is ALWAYS willing to help them. I am math illiterate (hence,007) and I got an A in his class! That's all thanks to him and giving me extra help whenever I could make it. Go to class, do the homework & get extra help. You'll pass too!
Pre-calculus II, Oh what a difficult class you may think. Not With Riessig! He is an OUTSTANDING PROFESSOR and also the head of the math department! Will help with anything math or not related! Just do what your suppose to and you will succeed!
nice prof goes over concepts very well however tests are dumb. he tests are at most 10 questions one question per idea and final was like 15 questions. also u need 2 do da hw and u need 2 show up to pass.
Had Prof Reissig for pre-calc 2 and just finished Calc 1. Very easily understood and is able to dumb the concepts down to be easily understood. Go to his office hours he is always willing to help. Taking Calc 2 with him next semester
Even though I did horribly in his class, he's a good teacher. He really tries to help his students. Math has always been my hardest subject and it's a miracle he passed me. Go to the extra help and he'll take that into consideration when grading you
I didn't do so well in Calc, but that's because I didn't do the best in it. I can say though, that This professor is very friendly, tries his best to help you pass. He says everyday when he's up in his office to help. As long as you work with him, you'll do great.
I had no background in math and feared failing statistics. Professor Reissig was very thorough, crystal clear and most of all patient. With my effort and his help I managed a B+. He's a great person and actually likes to help people. I can't say enough good things about him. You would be lucky to have him as your Professor!
While he is a very knowledgeable and helpful professor, beware of his exams. There is not much room to make error, and the questions are tough and often not what you would expect. Utilize his office hours, he is EXTREMELY helpful and does care about his students as long as he see's that YOU care! You just need to put the time and effort in.
Best math professor I ever had at Suffolk. He actually KNEW how to teach and explained everything extremely well. Goes over the homework every class, so do it! It will help you when the tests roll around. You won't have to study AS much. Really nice guy to go to during his office hours, too. He'll help you out with whatever you don't comprehend.
I would not take his class again, he is a very good teacher, and breaks everything down so its impossible not to understand...but is very, very harsh on test and when u call him out for it he laughs about how he cant believe he took that many points off.punishes you for minor errors.
Teaches well and makes the material understandable during class but the tests are unreal. Not much wiggle room to make errors. I would not take his class again because of his exams. There are 4 exams and a cumulative final worth 200 points as well as multiple quizzes and assigns homework every night but just goes over it doesn't check it
Im currently taking him for precalc 2 and Im passing, I had to withdraw last time because Im just bad at math, he makes it so you understand it, If you do the HW and come to class you will do fine. In the begining he was a bit intimidating with sarcastic remarks but now that its half way through the semester we all laugh in class and have agoodtime
Great Professor!!! Take all his classes if you can!!
Great professor. He loves math but also wants you to learn and get a good grade. He is a hard grader, but if you can do all the HW problems you will get a good grade. Does tons and tons of problems in class and will answer almost all the questions students ask. If he had answered less questions we probably would have learned more.
the questions on his test are rather hard and expect to have points taken off for simple mistakes such as forgetting to put a graph title. He doesn't drop the lowest grade and there's no curve. He's not the worst professor but I would not recommend him unless statistics is your cup of tea
He is a solid teacher.. Pay attention you will pass the class. The homework is optional but i recommend doing it for the tests. You can even go to his office if you need 1 on 1 help. Good guy and good class to take.. (algebra 1)
He is a great teacher. he goes step by step in regards to doing problems. he's e learn from. pay attention and you'll pass.
If you are not good in math you MUST TAKE him. He is a god when it comes to teaching math. I didn’t know what 1+1 was and I ended up getting 95.You have homework every night but it’s not a lot and he doesn’t check it but DO IT that’s part of the reason I did so well. He is very fare and could not care more about his students. The Best hands down!!!
awesome professor and really nice
Clear, enthusiastic, funny teacher. Tests are fair. Very approachable and has walk-in office hours all day long. Prof. Reissig helps students learn thorough patience and kindness. NEVER makes students feel badly about not understanding the subject. WONDERFUL TEACHER. YOU WILL NOT REGRET TAKING HIS CLASS.
Reissig was one of the most helpful professors I ever had at suffolk. He's in his office often since he is the Dean of the math dept, and he was always willing to have students come into the office for help. I've had many different math professors at suffolk since I didn't do well. once I had Reissig my grades went up tremendously. HIGHLY RECCOMEND
Dude this guy knows everything about math... I originally hated math and after taking him my first semester I started enjoying the subject more. I'm taking him again in my 3rd semester and i'm enjoying the subject even more. He's a genuinely cool, smart guy. I'd like to go buy this guy some drinks at the bar because he deserves it.
He is a very smart professor. DO NOT take if you can not attend his office hours. In class you write paragraphs for notes and he is not concerned with your ability to do mechanical but how to solve proofs. 4th semester at suffolk and worst professor I have ever had.
my FAVORITE teacher at Suffolk. You have to be paying attention to understand, but he gives great notes and he's always there to help. Quizzes are super easy, and tests aren't that bad. He knows his stuff, and I really enjoyed learning in his class. Homework every night, but you don't HAVE to do it. It's to help you understand what you learned.
Absolute favorite math teacher at Suffolk! Took him for pre calculus 1 and 2 and got A's in both classes. You definitely need to study and do homework (which he doesn't grade). He gives about 3-4 tests and quizzes per semester. Always answers your questions and writes clear notes in steps. Take this professor!!!!!!!
Extremely nice, made me love math. I've always had trouble with math but he explains it in such a simple way I got really into it, not a hard class just pay attention and take notes. Really cares about you and your understanding of math, and will gladly help you. Would definitely take him as a professor for any other math class.
let me start off by saying I took algebra twice in HS. this professor changed my entire viewpoint in math. he took a person who couldn't add for her life and made me understand things so much better. A lot of homework, but its for your benefit. people who goofed off failed. I didn't have to take the final because of my average, he changed my life.
I took Professor Reissig for MAT200 and found it to be a very straightforward class. He gave 3 in class tests, 3 take home assignments, and a final. He explained concepts very well and was very approachable. While this class is a lot less intense than an applied mathematics course make sure you do the hw. Test problems almost straight from the book
about as useful as you expect a SCCC professor to be.
Professor Reissig is extremely overrated. He skips over many steps and rushes you all the time when taking tests and quizzes. He is a nice man, but expect to be pushed hard. If you get over a C+ in this class, you've definitely earned it!
Excellent Professor I took him for math 007. I didn't take the final exam because of my average.
Prof. Reissig is an excellent instructor. He is very straightforward with his expectations on the first day of class. His lectures are interesting and he is always available before and after class if you need help. The exam questions are just like the homework questions and he drops your lowest quiz grade. I would definitely take his class again.
Great easy professor.
He is fair when he grades he will give points where he can ,it's a lot of homework, don't take with a a lot of other classes unless your Brain is mathematically sound , he is the chair of the department FYI
I wouldn't recommend him if you're not a math person. Don't take your chances with him. I wouldn't take him again. I thought that statistics was easier than his class. There's lots of homework, but he doesn't check and he's the department chair. Good luck.
Professor Reissig is a good professor. The subject itself is tough but he is very approachable during his office hours. Do the homeworks because it really does help in the long run. The class had 5 quizzes and 4 exams and one final. You really need to work hard to attain an A. Overall, would recommend.
Any math class requires a lot of work to understand the material. He usually doesnt grade the homework, it helps to understand the topic you are learning. He explains things very well and gives great notes. He's very accommodating and is available for office hours. I've rearranged my schedule my past 2 semesters and this upcoming one to have him
This professor is very sweet and straight to the point when it comes to grading and what he expects. He allows to absences and doesn't really bend his rule. He offers office hours if you are struggling and gives homework almost every class but doesn't check it and goes over any questions you may have. You need to do outside work for this math class
Easy A. Took stats in high school and did awful, took this prof and aced his class. He gives homework but he doesnt check it, didnt do a single homework all year and still did well. That is because he is such an excellent math teacher. If youre not mathematically inclined like me, take this guy.
get ready to do some work! he is a great professor and is available pretty much any time you need him, he is open to teaching and very passionate but this class is HARD.
He's really great. Clear explanations. Many people don't think this class is too hard but I struggled, and had to focus on this class a lot. He's very nice and accessible outside of class. Highly recommend
Professor Reissig gives a lot of homeworks and doesnt grade it, so its very difficult to know your mistakes unless you go to the Student Learning Center or to him during his office hours. Exams are extremely hard, and he doesnt give extra credits. My only advice is to take another prof if its your first time to take Calculus. This class is hard
professor Reissig is very passionate about teaching, he makes the material clear and goes over the steps until everyone gets it, he's the chair department but if you're struggling, he will make time to help you as long as you reach out. he gives a lot of homework that is not graded, if you don't do them, you will have a hard time passing this class
Good professor. The class is difficult and requires you to put in the work. He assigns lots of hw and although its not graded I would recommend you understand it.
He was okay, he gives a lot of homework but doesnt grade it. But he goes over the homework if anyone has any questions about it. His lectures were boring, but since when Math was ever fun to be in. Anyways, hes a good professor. He helps his student a lot if youre ever struggling.
I tried my hardest with him to get my way, my way out of a class that was going to lead to failure on my PERFECT record but sadly it did not happen. I still think he is a GEM. I would highly recommend that anyone looking to really LEARN take his class. It might be difficult or it could be easy, either way you can't say that you did not try!
Great professor and chair of the math department. Definitely take him if you get the chance!!
This professor is a real gem! I took prof Reissig for Mat124 and Mat125. Prof Reissig explained it to where I could understand it. Ask questions if you don't understand or go to office hours. You have to do theHW and put in the effort. Show that you are trying and prof Reissig will meet you half way. Traditional in teaching on chalkboard/ textbook.
Extremely tough grader. I considered myself very strong in Math till I took this class. Online just makes it worse, test have no multiple choice. I got every single answer right on the test and showed work and got a 70. If you are not a math wiz do not waste your time you will not pass this class.
I have no complaints, statistics is statistics you either get it or you dont. Fully online class so there wasnt much interaction with the professor. There were notes to go off of, homework was a little time consuming. Tests arent timed which is nice. Would take again
I took calculus 2 online through collaborate with Professor Reissig and I am not a fan. He is condescending and laughs at students and makes them feel dumb when they ask a question. I would recommend to stay clear of taking his classes if possible.
He's not going to hold your hand through the class but he is entirely at your disposal. I definitely felt like I was putting extra effort in his class because of his expectations and workload. He makes his tests harder than most others but you can ask as many questions as you need and he'll make time. Very good at explaining the material.
Expects you to learn by yourself from his handwritten notes and him mentioning formulas and then telling you not to use them. For homework you use connect math and the examples are explained different from his notes. He also claims his questions are from his notes but rewords them so youll have a hard time recognizing them for the correct formula
This is one of my favorite math teachers Ive ever had, he explains concepts and problems so clearly where you can understand them. There is homework in this class but it is not graded but do the homework anyway for practice . I 100 % recommend taking this class with this teacher
I had Prof Reissig for Stats, which is an inherently tedious and complex course, but he made things so clear. He posted his own lecture notes and broke down the main point from each section and gave students a better idea of what concepts to focus on. Homework heavy but worth the effort to really get the material. He is easy to talk to and lenient.
Prof. Reissig wants you to succeed. He writes all of his notes on the board, including how to approach a problem. Doing the HW and asking Q's are necessary to being successful. He does NOT collect HW, but if you do it, he goes over it next class. Go to the MLC if you need help with HW. He drops the lowest quiz grade. However, you MUST attend class.
honestly one of if not the best math professor I have ever had. Calc 2 isnt easy so no professor is gonna make a student be perfect but Professor Reissig gives you all the notes to pass his course. Although homework is optional I advise you to do the homework and ask questions the day after. kids who dont do hw tend to be the ones complaining.
PART 1: first day of class he threw a bunch of info to us that we need to know and said if we had a B, B+ in precalc then there's no way we could pass the class. Not very encouraging. Randomly tells us we have a quiz in 2 days. (quizzes are worth 25%). Drops only lowest quiz grade. He gives ALOT of homework & expects you to do all of it.
PART 2: His tests are hard too and worth a lot. Doesn't give any extra credit. Writes a lot of info on the board and expects us to know how to apply it right away. He does go over questions from the hw the next day and wants us to understand the material. Im always an A student in math. This is the first math class I had a low grade in.Dont take it!
Great Professor, didn't recite what was already in the textbook, he changed it into his own words to help us understand it more. I would gladly take him again but he is retiring!
Would NOT take this professor if I were you. I chose him because of all the good reviews here unfortunately. He is nice but he is really tough when it comes to grading. Quizzes and tests are hard. NO extra credit. Writes a lot. Gives so much homework & though he goes over it in class if you need help it's is still confusing. Take at your own risk!
EXCELLENT at helping students understand complicated or abstract concepts simply. Don't be afraid to ask questions! Only advice (not a critique, just a warning), he will use some of the most difficult examples on his exams. Do all the homework even if it's optional, seriously. Don't be afraid to ask about questions that confused you. He'll help.
