Very funny guy! While having to tolerate his football and current events talk and sometimes dry jokes, he still somehow manages to lecture on theology and the bible. Don't fall asleep though, cause he might pick (make fun) on you!

This is guy is by far the best prof at SJU. He's too knowledgeable on his subject and can relate it to anything. My fave being that horseracing is mary's favorite sport; makes it sound believeable too. Leanr alot and get the A you actually earn

Sugrue is awesome! Doesn't mind cursing, loves horse racing, talks about high schools, and makes jokes here and there. Your grade is based on a midterm and final take home essay. Just do well on those two papers and you receive your A!

Whomever talks poorly of this guy is misguided. He comes in, talks about horses for 20 minutes, asks you if you like them, talks about religion for 15 minutes, and you leave. You do learn about religion, but mostly it's just a fun class. Take him.

if i had to take theology again, i would take HIM again!

TAKE HIM! funny, easy,smart, and interesting. tells you what you would need to know about the different religions. just sit up front in the class so that you can interact with him, cause it'll be worth it. as for the tests, read the text and use the notes as an outline

This guy is a PRO: he is very knowledgable, covers all the important stuff, gives good notes, and teaches from a unique perspective. He doesn't teach as some white guy that has read a book--he teaches from an unbiased, respectful, and informed perspective. Probably the only white guy that has friends from other faiths. Why is he such a Pope fan???

Sugrue's the man. He turns theology class into a stand-up routine and he's hilarious at times. On the flipside he's also very intelligent, you'll be laughing and learning at the same time. Tests are very easy, don't buy his scare tactics. An absolute must take for theology, you'll learn why Mary is a huge horse racing fan and other tidbits.

omg...sugrue is the man. no matter how horrible u might do on his exam remember one thing : not even an idiot drops sugrue's class b/c in the end you will see nothing less than an A-. and if ur one of those perfect people, just cheat during the exams, all he says is "no peeky". advice: Write "Go Mets" on the scantron, you may just get 2 extra pts

Hes awesome. the book seems hard but start reading it as soon as you can and pair it with the micheal himes book and its a lot more understandable. It doesnt matter anyway because you are practically quarentteed the A. TAKE HIM and dont take it pass fail, hes all talk.

This guy's got a great sense of humor. If you're sensitive to cusswords, don't take the class, but he uses it always in a joking manner. Only flaw is the sudden off-topic shifts he has when teaching the material. He assigns a midterm and a final, and two extra credit papers that add a point to your overall grade. No homeworks.

By far the coolest professor I've had. Got a midterm and a final and the midterm was super easy matching column, final was all true false questions. We spent days of class listening to old rock music and watching video clips of old movies. Attendance not a big deal I barely went got an F on the midterm and an A on the final for an overall A- grade.

Sugrue's class was a riot. Lots of laughs and lots of information. He's a very knowledgeable man and imparts the information clearly and often in a funny way where you actually remember it. He's also really good looking

This guy is the best. Go to class, take good notes, and you'll ace the exams if you read over your notes. As for that Ratzinger book, once you get about 1/3 of the way in, it becomes easy. Oh yeah, find out who all the Vincetians are and you'll ace the EC on his exams

Learned more about Christinaity in one semester than I did in my four years of catholic hs. He covers everything that needs to be covered and does so with humor. "White gospel" music anyone? Pretty much an easy A unless you do nothing and don't go to class.

He teaches the entire class through stand up comedy. Covers all the class material in the last 10 mins. His tests are a joke, M/C or matching and he puts things on them that he never mentioned in class. Dont take him if your easily offended or if you want to learn about the subject. Make sure you know the name of the fat priest! its on every test

I am getting a great understanding of bioethics form this guy and he's hysterical

DEFINITELY TAKE HIM! He not only teaches the material but he teaches it with many laughs. He's hysterical and takes about real-life situations having to do with the material which is very entertaining. The book is a little hard but the tests are pretty easy.

This man is The King

Greatest class ever. But he was a little more serious this term than he has ever been before. Required a group project and a 1 page writing assignment. Tests were open book/notes/laptop. Still the class was a joke, both literally and figuratively. Take him in an afternoon class, his night class isnt as funny and he wastes so much time w/ breaks.

I've had him three times and he teaches each class a bit differently. He says he does it that way to keep us "honest". Different tests and assignments each semester per course. Not the guy we had at Prep. Just as funny though

Interesting the way he take on moral issues in health care. Unlike others who only talk religion he adds a money point of view which really makes the subject interesting and it also shows some moral things for what they are

hes the greatest ever. if you want to do absolutely nothing then he is the guy to take. he gave one paper and and midterm and a final. very easy teacher and a guranteed easy A.

Easy enough course if you do what's expected: show up and read the book. He takes attendence every class and the final exam is right out of it. Good talker and VERY funny. You can tell he genuinely likes time with us students. Ask him a Q that he can show his expertise and you realize how good he is.

He shows up in a bowtie and makes his students stand up when he enters the room. That is only the beginning of his shennagans. He makes students get him coffee and makes fun of virtually everyone in the class. You won't learn much about theology but you will WANT TO GO TO CLASS! Great Experience, lowest grade in the class was a 97%, take him!!!

The final was tough. Thank god for long subway trips. It gave me a chance to read the book. Funniest teacher ever. Take the class

Nice guy, easy enough class but, DO NOT MISS ANY EXAMS EVER.The tests are straightforward enough and fairly easy if you do everything and he doesn't really make you work too hard but his make up exams are deadly.

3 Asian students walk into the room together and he says "Was the bus from Flushing running late?" He stacks desks in front of door to prevent late students from entering the classroom and "to create a fire hazard" When he finishes his coffee he will often just throw the cup out the window. This is what you should expect. EC on test is worth 50pts

The professor is very learned and hysterical. I laughed my head off in class and learned much. He told us to invest in Ford at $7 a share and I think it's $12 now. As he claims, "i'm the only prof that will put money in your pocket"

One of the best professors in the university. Not only is he very knowledgeable about the different cultures and religions. He is also very informative regarding how the world goes around (aka stock markets). In addition, his adept use of sarcasm and his sense of humor will also keep you attentive throughout the class. Highly recommended!

Doesn't just look at business from the 'bottom line' perpective but reminds everyone to look at both that and the top line (revenue). He gives a spin on business which I liked very much. Nice guy and reminds us all to see through the BS

I like how he teaches us to "change our view on reality" and use it to make some money, on others stupidity. As he says, "always looking out for my people."

When the course started I thought it was too much data or as he says "trade terms" but then the midterm comes and then I realized it was easy because I knew everything. Next thing I am doing bioethical analysis of "Robocop". He made boring subject very good. Very funny man, pro student, and worth taking his class.

I've had him before and thought him very easy but this semester he had more work than ever and I found the movie very disturbing. Not as funny as the first time (some of his jokes I've used before)

This class was very easy, but be warned, he was late everyday to class, went off on tangents a lot about horse racing. He liked to insult students as a joke, and I was never offended, but I just wanted to get to the course material. Midterm and final, both easy if you pay attention and read. I wouldn't suggest taking him if you want to learn.

No text book. gives alot of stuff to read and quizzes you on it. He expects you to use readings citations in your writing. Wants you to relate everything together.

The best professor I've ever had! All you have to do is basically show up and save his emails. His tests are 50 multiple choice questions that honestly can be answered with common sense. I would take him again if I could!

I love Sugrue. He was the best Theology teacher. We didn't take much quizzes, but when we did it would be like 30 true and false and that's it. I definitely recommend taking him.

If you have the chance to take him definitely do. He is fantastic, you can hear his personality in his writing, all of his work is very clear so you know what to do. He likes to converse with you on discussion board posts, always talks about your work to you. Lots of the work is opinionated!

The easiest A you can get. Just show up and listen to him lecture for an hour and a half. A few assignments, probably like 8 for the whole semester and they are fairly easy.

He. literally just makes jokes all the time. You can skip class but try to be present for at least 50% of all classes. He can be super caring but his jokes are insane. Easiest A I have ever gotten in university.

Sugrue is a chaotic professor. Easy class, doesn't care about much. He really likes the Neanderthals. Make sure you check Canvas and do his assignments on time. No tests or exams. It does not take much to get an A.
