Very nice guy, kinda boring lecures, but fun class over all

I would recommend taking his class for anyone needing to take a speech class. He is my favorite professor so far at GRCC. He grades fairly, is clear, and is the most reasonable teacher. He is a really nice funny guy.

Very nice guy and the class was very easy. I would highly suggest taking this instructor for your speech requirement. Lectures can tend to be a little boring but solely because of the subject matter.

One of the better courses/teachers I've taken so far. Interesting lectures, includes a lot of group activity, and video clips. Not a lot of extra work assigned, just participate in group discussions.

Sutton was great, he makes everything interesting and finds applicable examples for everything. Take anything with him, he makes it fun and is very fair in grading.

This guy is cool he gives good examples and this could be an easy A or B on your transcript.

Easy class. Too easy, wasn't challenging at all. Almost feel as though he favors the kids who interupt class with stupid discussions that don't pertain to the lecture at all.

He's a big hearted man, who shares his life experiences while teaching. He knows his stuff, and you'll learn a lot. He makes you feel confident about your self-hes very out-goign and understanding. GReat guy all around!

He's the most amazing professor i have ever had. He's an all around great guy and the class is amazing. I have it once a week for 3 hours and it flys by everytime. If you have the chance to take one of his classes do so...you will benefit from it!! GREAT PROFESSOR!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Dennis is great, he is a nice guy and fair, but he knows how to keep the class in line. He doesn't like a lot of chattering and disrespect, which I agree with. Good class, I recommend it if you want a prof who is clear and easy to like!

Very laid back teacher. Taught me a lot, even though I thought sometimes like I was in marriage counseling or anger management class a lot of the time. Keep up on work and show up to class and it'll be a breeze.

An extremely easy A. His class is very interesting and you learn without knowing it. There are two exams- a mid-term and a final. There is also a required paper and chapter presentation which are also very easy. If you need a GPA boost and humanities credit, take the Sutton.

Mr. Sutton is an amazing instructor. I wasn't interested in taking the class. I learned a lot from him and his teaching style is clear and concise. Come to class, do your work, and study for the tests (tests are off your notes)

I was mortified of giving speeches but his style and diverse assignments made it fun and interesting. I am not sure of the grading though! Those who work really hard get the same grades as those that don't but that doesn't mean you should slack -- he will notice! And take notes, you might think you don't need them but you will at test time.

Keeps it fun for those who may not like speech. Good temper and keeps the entire class interested. Listen to his comments on your speech - if you work on them you'll be fine.

Mr sutton is a great professor...he gets you really involved in the class. There are 3 tests and all the test info comes straight from your notes. He is very kind and willing to help. Class is an easy A if you come to class, study for tests and put effort into your group presentation. I would definitely recommend this class!

Very easy, outlines dont have to be specific for speeches, AWESOME with givin out good grades...all you gotta do is be confident. Do well on your midterm, which isnt that hard, and you should pass with an A.

Fun, easy class. You should learn to become a better public speaker no matter your experience. Sutton is a great prof. for an ex radio voice and he really knows his stuff.

Very interesting, and explains things so that they easily understood. Relates topics to real life situations. Most applicable class I have taken and very enjoyable. I rcommend this class to anyone.

Very knowledgeable of subject matter. Excited to teach and genuinely happy to be there to help. Feedback is always constructive. Grading is generous as long as effort or aptitude is displayed on part of the student. Laid back and willing to work with you. As long as you participate and give your speeches on time, it's pretty easy to breeze through this class. He is not a hard grader when it comes to speeches as he knows everyone is nervous. 1 test. Very easy - take good notes in class and the text book is not needed.

Very intelligent and easy to understand. Heavy on group activities like it says in the course catalogue. As long as you show up and participate, you will enjoy the class. Do study the theories and terminology before the tests and you'll be fine.

Dennis is easily 1 of my top 5 fav teachers of all time. He varies his methods of instruction to keep students involved & learning. Class discussions, group work, movie clips, use of Power Point & white board, recent newspaper articles & personal stories were great. Awesome experience, great knowledge of topic taught, easy to approach.

just dont be afraid, he knew that students are nervous,he will grade easily. If you try your best, the worst grade you can get is a B. There is only one paper test, all based on the note he gave during class. His class is fun. I enjoy his class so much.

Professor Sutton has got to be one of best teachers that I have ever had. He's a funny guy and his classes are never boring! Be prepared to come out of this class with something useful! You can learn a lot from him and he encourages discussion. His tests are from his notes and discussions in class, so I think that attendance is important. Sutton does a great job teaching and makes the class fun and interesting!

Mr. Sutton was one of THE best profs I've ever had. I don't like speaking in public but he is very good at putting you at ease. He has great stories to tell and works them into the tasks at hand. I only had one test (midterm), I took the 5 week class, which I would highly recommend!

Mr. Sutton is an excellent professor. I took a class of his and liked him so much that i scheduled the next semester classes around another one of his classes that I did not even need. He is interesting and fun. Go to class, do your work, and you will do well. I recommend his classes to anyone!

Took a condensed 3 week COM-135 class with Mr. Sutton and he made the 6 - 7 hour days fun. Then took a condensed 5 week public speaking class with him again. He knows everyone is going to be nervous so he graded pretty easy and really just focused on making us better speakers. Overall great professor. Do the condensed classes if you can.

Great Professor. If you have him coming up you are in good hands. Very forgiving on mistakes and only one midterm test which is not too difficult. Easy A if you practice your speeches before you give them. I will have him again in the fall and look forward to it!

For those who cared to pay attention, the information was great for using in the future, the speeches were fun and very brief.

I took Prof. Sutton's 3 week class in the summer, and it was an amazing experience! He is so silly, and incredibly nice. I really enjoyed his teaching style - he doesn't lecture constantly, he gets the class discussing and debating, and does a lot of group activities. You don't even need a book...and the tests are a joke. Just don't miss lectures.

I had him for Public Speaking and like him as a professor so much I got him again for Interpersonal Communications. He's funny, helpful, a great teacher, and makes class entertaining. I would recommend him as a teacher to anyone!

I loved his class. We were ALWAYS in groups talking b/c its interpersonal communication. Homework was annoying, but it was so easy nobody cared. One presentation with a partner, and thats it. He graded fairly and knows your nervous, thats why your not in public speaking. I will definitely be taking him again!!!!!!!!!

This is a fantastic class, and he is a fantastic prof! If you listen to his lectures, and take good notes it is an easy A. He is AMAZING and getting through all of his points so long as you are willing to lend him your ear. I would/have recommend(ed) him to anyone! :)

He is AWESOME!! He has a great sense of humor and dosen't load on a lot of homework. The speeches you give are your choice and he's very fair with his grading. 1 written test and the final is a speech. I can't wait to take his other classes! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Sutton is the man! He's hilarious.. He gets the job done well. He kinda throws a lot at you in the first several weeks.. but its all notes. one midterm that is pretty easy.. final is a speech. Couldn't have had a better time in a communications class.

Great guy. Explains everything well. Power Point notes. Multiple choice tests, with a few short (very short) essay questions. Reflection papers due every week. Can get dull, but maybe that was because it was a 3 hour class. Be ready to do a lot of group work to.

Very friendly and engaging professor. Tests and assignments are easy, as long as you pay attention is class and stay organized. I've had him twice now, and both times have disappointed with how little relevant information I felt I carried away from the class.

Great teacher. So friendly, nice, & funny. Best teacher i've ever had. The class is super fun and easy. three test total and several papers. But he is a easy grader. Don't use the book that much. honestly i wouldnt even buy it. He tells you everything that will be on the test. The class ends two weeks early. Get out early in summer class most days

He was an awesome professor for my COM135 class. He lectured every class but it was never overly long or difficult to pay attention to. He had an awesome sense of humor and was willing to work with you on just about anything.

I didn't think I would do good in a communications class but he makes the class fun. Do the work, attend class, and you will pass easily. After each lecture he will let you know what you need to know for each test, very helpful. Would recommend for anyone!

Very organized, all the info you need for assignments and up-coming due-dates he writes on the board. Read the syllabus, pay attention, take notes - and this class is a breeze. He does a lot with in-class group participation, so be ready to interact with your classmates. I really liked this class, he's an enthusiastic and positive teacher.

I loved Mr. Sutton! I was dreading speech class, but he made it fun and easier than I thought it would be. He's not a harsh grader like some. He's funny, cracks jokes all the time. He doesn't single anyone out, making you feel awful for the speech you presented. All the feedback you get back are written on a sheet of paper, and it's good advice!

Dennis Sutton is probably my favorite professor at GRCC. The man is hilarious and a wealth of knowledge. Never have I taken a 3 hour lecture and actually enjoyed it. Uses great examples of his material from his own experiences. If you want to sit in the corner undisturbed then this isn't for you. It is a communications class after all. Great guy

I hated public speaking, but decided to take this class to try and become more comfortable doing so. Prof Sutton made the classroom environment really comfortable and graded fairly. Just show up to class on your designated presentation days, fulfill the speech requirements (length/content/etc.), and you'll easily pass. Also, I never got the book.

This was my 2nd class with Sutton. The class was easy/interesting/fun. It really is not a lot of work, you'll have something due every week but the assignments are not time consuming. They're all from the book, but they're kind of common sense. We had one group presentation and a few short essays. He's a really reasonable guy and a great professor!

Dennis Sutton is by far the best professor at GRCC. The material we go over in his class is so interesting and his way of teaching it is just so interactive and fun. I enjoyed his class so much that my 3 hour class felt like 1 hour. I would take all his classes if I could, but its my last semester at CC so I can't. Enjoy him guys, HE IS AWESOME!!!

His grading is easy! he gives a quick "recap" at the end of class, write that stuff down and you're good for the test. hardly need the book if you take good notes(copy the powerpoints) to write the 2 page paper per chapter. He makes the entire class laugh daily with his family stories or "other students" stories. always willing to help you. Love!!

Dennis is great professor. He explains what is expected well. Textbook use is very minimal, print the power point and listen in class and you won't need the book. 1 midterm and 6 speech's. No final. Take the condensed once a week class if you can.

Pay attention, ready your speeches and you'll pass. He is funny and real. Will do his best to help you pass.

It's only my second week of class and I'm positive that he is the best professor I've had at CC. He is kind, compassionate, and accessible. He has a very welcoming disposition, and all the work we do is very chill and low-key. He creates an environment where when you're giving speeches, you feel like you're having a 1-1 convo w/ friends. BEST!

If you like to do extra reading, I would recommend getting the textbook. He completely prepares you for the tests with what he covers in class. I never bought the book and I got an A on the midterm (no final). SO, if you want to save money and not buy a book- you totally don't need to buy this one!

This man is amazing. His Interpersonal Communications class is so much fun. Mr. Sutton makes clear what is on his tests and what to know. There is a lot of group discussions so don't be afraid to speak up, it makes the class way more fun. You can tell he loves what he does. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Public speaking is not fun, but for many majors it's required. I would 100% recommend Mr. Sutton. He is hilarious and straight to the point, probably one of my favorite professors at GRCC. I would really recommend taking it in a summer semester. Short and sweet and as long as you show up and do every speech its an easy A. He grades really fair.

I have taken quite a few classes that revolve around communications and better understanding others; but none of them compare to the experience and education I acquired by taking Professor Suttons communications class. His enlightening personality and ability to make the class more intimate brought life to every student. Hands down the best class!

I'm not trying to be dramatic, but this guy is probably the best person I've ever met. His lectures are so enjoyable. Not only is the material interesting, but he just makes it so much better. You write a question every day for attendance so that's required but other than that, super easy and super fun. 10/10 person, truly inspired me to do better.

Great teacher! You can tell he genuinely likes teaching. Told us a lot of fun stories and made me look forward to coming to class. Lots of group discussions that gave me a chance to actually get to know all of my classmates which was cool.

I enjoy his class so much and get sad when it ends. He is a very wise man and truly wants to help his students to learn. He is extremely clear about all content, due dates to term definitions. I will take another class of his if I get the chance. His teaching is the definition of what good education looks like.

Sutton is a great teacher for speech class. He is super nice and funny. It's important to have a good class as well, but he is clearly experienced and it's harder to fail this class than passing.

If you have the chance to take this class take it! He has two easy papers you have to do, piece of cake. He is knowledgeable and always has funny stories to tell!

By far one of the best professors. Amazing lectures and lectures on the material that will be on exams. very easy and a very enjoyable class. Also has great stories that relate to the lectures. Textbook is suggested but not necessary, I recommend just getting the access code. He made interpersonal communication class eye opening.

Professor Sutton helped me push through my social anxiety. This interpersonal communications class REQUIRES group activities so if you're shy this will push you out of your comfort zone. His grading is fair and straightforward. He has a great sense of humor and truly loves his students. Take his class if you need a communications credit.

This is my third class with Prof. Sutton (first online) and I just love the guy! He is smart, funny, relatable, and gives great lectures and feedback. As long as you keep up on homework/papers and put forth real effort, you will excel. He is my favorite professor at GRCC! If you are a communications major, take as many of his classes as you can.

I took this online (corona life) and he was great. He didn't throw long convuluted lectures at us, which I appreciate as an online student. I do wish I had him in person- he seems like a great teacher and good guy. Grades quickly and rather easily, gives good feedback. Although I took online, I think I'm a better speaker, and it was an easy A.

Professor Sutton is amazing! Online lectures were engaging, he's passionate and knowledgeable about what he teaches, and he makes things very easy to understand. He has excellent communication skills and responds quickly to emails. He's funny and very laid back. Lots of writing in this class, but easy assignments. Cannot recommend enough!! 10/10.

Prof. Sutton is one of the best professors I've ever had. He genuinely cares about what he is teaching and really ensures that each student comprehends the material. He does many activities that reinforce the chapter readings and tries to make class fun and interactive (even if its a little cheesy from time to time.) He is a character!

We only had 1 test and it was easy I did not even study for it, if you don't show up to do a presentation you can re do it but he only allowed one presentation per person per class. I made a my presentations 2 hours before class and passed you don't even have to read the book he covered everything in class.

Professor Sutton is great. His online organization is easy to follow with recorded lectures. Enrolled in his accelerated summer course paired with Statistics and it was very manageable. Some writing, but they're personal journals. Easy A/GPA booster. He's a great guy! Cannot recommend enough. His classes fill up quick! Enroll while you can. :-)

Prof. Sutton was absolutely amazing. His class is not necessarily easy but it is nearly impossible to not do well in class. His lectures are explained in such a relatable way and I have never been so focused on a professor when they are talking, especially with online videos. I also have not had an unbiased professor yet and it sure is refreshing!

I took his COM 135 class online and it had to have been the easiest class I took all semester. You got one lecture per week with a quick write up due by the end of the week. Super easy classwork and practically no busy work yet his teachings were thorough and I felt like I learned a lot!

I had Professor Sutton for my Intercultural Communication class and I plan to take his Fundamentals of Public Relations class next semester. He is a great professor who cares for his students and wants them to succeed!

Easy A class. Read a chapter, watch a video, and write a journal a week pretty much. He really put effort into fully responding to and commenting on my journals each week. Made it feel like he really cared about each student even without meeting us in person. He is really passionate about the class which makes it feel more meaningful to learn.

He was super easy, 3 tests, 2 papers (one 2 pager and the other 4 pager), and the rest of the work was one-page journals for each chapter (12 chapters). His lectures were easy to understand, he got straight to the point and they were only half an hour. Easy good grade, I highly recommend it if you're taking many classes and need an easy class.

I found Professor Sutton to be an eloquent and funny speaker. He's very down to earth and explains the material well. As long as you put in the effort, there should be no issues taking his class.

I had Mr. Sutton for COM254 (Mass Media). This online class is very well organized and interesting, Mr. Sutton is knowledgeable and passionate, and I recommend this class and this teacher.

I actually had COM254, but that isn't an option on this site for some reason (Mass Media). The class was super easy. All you've got to do is email him a paragraph or so each week in response to the 10-20 minute lecture (sometimes even less time). Few tests, a couple short papers too, (less than 2 pages). Nice guy, easy class.

This professor is so funny and makes his class entertaining with stories and personal experiences related to the topics we're learning about. I was scared to take public speaking but he made the environment a supportive one and always gave me good and honest feedback. He has classmates write some feedback and positive comments too to encourage you.

As long as you did your weekly assignments, you are guaranteed to have a good grade.
