Really good teacher. Not a very interesting subject to begin with, but makes it a little for fun to learn. Make sure to talk to him after class, he will give you help if you ask for it.
very helpful but doesnot explain anything in class properly
Content is not very clearly taught. Quizzes are group quizzes but test require LOTS of studying and practice. I suggest reading the book after every class to fully understand. Cool guy, sometimes funny.
He makes it fun.
He knows his stuff. He just doesn't know how to get it across to his class. Find a good group to work on quizzes with, they are all group or take homes. He sometimes seems to make things harder than they really are.
This class is just hard period but Taylor tries his best to help. His powerpoint slides are really helpful. Make sure to use them to study.
Good guy. Find a good group to do your quizes. Even if you dont have a good group ust go around class and ask other people for help. He doent teach anything properly in class but he will help you after class. He makes thing seem more difficult than they are actually. Try to avoid taking him if possible
Overall a good prof, one of the best to have for Chem 101. His group quizes help you learn the material, and occasionally he gives open note quizes. He's very helpful outside of class if you're lost on anything. Definitely take if you have to have CH101.
chem 101 is a hard class in general. i don't really recommend him if you have a hard time following concepts. he talks in monotone most of the time and with his eyes closed. hes a nice guy though. his quizzes are quite difficult
Awesome professor. Best 101 professor at Clemson. Gives hard quizes but lets you work in groups. Quizes are similar to test. Very helpfull, class can be boring at times but it becuase of subject not professor. Won't do poorly in his class if you put in effort.
If you think Dr. Taylor isn't a good teacher then Chemistry is probably just too hard for you because you probably won't find much better
Take this guy by all means. He's new so he is really trying to teach instead of babysit. Very helpful. Jokes around in class a lot. Gives quizzes that are easy if you review your notes + you work in groups. Don't need your book - he teaches out of ppts. You'll make an A if you study regularly and semi-pay attention.
Dr. Taylor actually cares about making sure that students learn the material. His stated goal is to have a class average of 85%, which is close to impossible in CH 101. He tries to use different demonstrations and jokes to get his point across. Definately one of the top 3 general chem teachers.
He's a fairly good lecturer and he has really nice powerpoint slides each day. His quizzes aren't made out to be too bad. The only thing I don't like is that he doesn't cover all the required material, so some (but not a whole lot) of extra reading in the textbook is required.
He has helpful powerpoint slides. Some of his quizes were kind of hard, but somedays he would have really easy quizes on days that attendance was low. Overall good Chemistry Teacher and very helpful, cares about his students.
Exelcent prof. I would dare say one of the best at Clemson. His style of teaching and the fact that he usally posts his notes on line make his class less diffuclt, but he also works examples of the kinds of problems you'll see on the test in class, which is huge plus.
awesome notes posted on blackboard
Made the class pretty easy if you come, did have quizzes atleast every other class though. Made the class semi interesting by putting his own little jokes in.
He's a wonderful teacher and will explain everything very clearly, and the notes are really helpful. If you miss a class, he uploads the notes online as powerpoints. He will give surprise quizes though in the last 10 minutes of class when everyone is ready to leave.
I hated this guy at first. But he's a really nice guy and it really helps understand the material better if u visit him during office hours.
This guy is a ****. He is not clear and just reads from the powerpoints. Good thing this isn't really a hard class.
Dr. Taylor is helpful as long as you're willing to make the effort; funny at times, goes into detail for the material in class, but outside preparation and studying is mandatory if you want to be successful; overall good prof.
Good professor. He kept things interesting and he's really understanding and easy to talk to.
I liked him. He isn't the best if you need a teacher to hold your hand through every problem, but if you actually put any effort into the class it's not bad at all. My class gave him way too hard of a time. Quizzes are difficult but worked in groups so just make sure someone in the group knows whats going on.
Dr. Taylor is a very solid professor. He relates to the students what is expected of them for the exam, and all concepts are practiced with numerous iClicker questions. Quizzes are difficult, but with a group, 6 heads are better than 1. Chemistry is a very difficult subject, but take him; if you are willing to work, an A can be yours.
DONT take him. He's too unclear and the class is so boring. The stupid quizzes he gives every other day are REALLY hard.
He's a jerk. He doesn't make it a secret that he feels very superior to students and sometimes seems like questions are a waste of his time. If you can get beyond that, he knows his material and, although it's not always clear, does a fairly proficient job of teaching it. You'll learn what you need to for the final.
Honestly, I don't know what these people are talking about. He's a good teacher if you want to teach ALL the material to yourself, which sucks to do because it's hard. All he does is read off of his powerpoint slides. The only helpful thing about the class is the almost daily quizzes he gives. Take Creager if you can!
I didnt like him at all. You basically teach yourself the material by reading his slideshows. His quizzes are group quizzes whixh is nice, but the tests are very difficult. He teaches with his eyes closed and takes attendance by using the iclicker also your daily participation grade. If possible get another professor.
Professor Taylor is hard, but definitely one of the better professors. He understands the material very well, and will help if you ask him. He teaches from powerpoints, which he uploads online, so even if you miss a class you haven't really missed much. He also gives group quizzes, so it's essentially a grade booster.
Dr. Taylor's a great teacher. The class itself is pretty hard. He tries to explain it the best way he can. If he sees you making an effort, he's willing to answer questions. Uses i-clickers but your answers aren't graded for correctness. Uses powerpoints that help as long as you read the book too. Overall, pretty good teacher and fair grader.
He read off of powerpoints the entire time with his eyes closed. If you think you can learn chemistry this way, then go for it. If not, I would avoid him at all costs. I wish I would have chosen the latter!
Dr. Taylor knows what he's talking about and he can explain it pretty well. He utilizes the iClicker questions to take attendance and you need to answer 75% of the questions each day to get attendance credit, so even if you're late and miss one you're fine. Homework is fair and quizzes are given in groups, which is helpful. He explains things well.
Knows his stuff, but doesn't translate that knowledge to students very well at all. Reads off ppt slides. Stumbles on his words frequently. Lectures with his eyes closed. Always seems nervous. Nice man, but not the best teacher. His slides are online, which helps a lot. Doesn't "take" attendance, but really does with iClickers. Avoid if you can...
Dr. Taylor is definitely one of the best teachers you could hope for. Every day, he uses powerpoint to teach, and he has the notes posted online before the class even starts. He really tries to go that extra mile to make sure the class understands the material (sometimes, he can do some surprisingly fun experiments).Take him if you can.
This is an awesome instructor. He makes material very approachable and easy to learn. He puts power point slides online before the class so you can print them out before class which is very helpful for notes. Does random quizzes but they help you understand material instead of hurting you. If you go to class easy A. Take this class.
First off he has a mullet and rocks 80's outfits. He's a decent teacher... understandable and fair. He's pretty boring and will probably put you to sleep though. He's very predictable as far as quizzes and power points go. And he's not very approachable because he's awkward.
AVOID DENNIS TAYLOR. I would have failed this class had it not been for SI and sitting in on Dr. Creager's lectures. GET DR. CREAGER!
Excellent professor, explains everything well in lecture, uses iClicker to enforce concepts. Will get an A if you show up and study.
He's kind of boring and he takes attendance using iClicker so you pretty much have to go to class. His powerpoints are kind of helpful when studying and he puts them online. Gives "pop" quizzes but it's pretty easy to predict when they'll be. Overall, not the best teacher, but not a complete nightmare.
He's a good professor, just a little fast on some subjects. If you don't have a good background you'll have to commit a lot of time to this class to learn the material in the time he wants.
awesome chemistry teacher...u wont find much better out there. hes very direct and approachable. if u cant c him during his office hours, he'll do what he can to meet u whenever ur free. u gain a very thorough understanding of chemistry from taking him.
Really do not recommend Dr. Taylor. He reads directly from his powerpoints and its very boring. Hard to learn in class. Also, there are weekly quizzes. Ended up with an A in the class, but definitely NOT because of him. The final is standardized and curved a LOT so that helps.
Good professor
He reads straight off his power points which can sometimes make you fall asleep. He puts thorough notes online though which is good and helpful. He really is a good teacher, especially compared to what I've heard about the other Chem guys, but sometimes talks with his eyes closed. Chem sucks anyways.
His lectures are boring but his class is really easy.
DONT sign up for him!!! Exams are departmental. He teaches with his eyes closed, and is very boring! Unless you love chem you wont be able to follow. Reading/studying the book is a must to pass Uses iclicker so you have to go to class. He is a nice guy tho, he will meet with you outside of class, and try to help
Terrible professor and person. Not at all helpful. Treats you like an idiot if you are not as good at chemistry as he is. Makes numerous errors throughout class period even though all he does is read the powerpoint to you that he makes you print out before even comping to class. He is very confusing, mean and incredibly rude. Avoid at all costs!!!!
He made me hate chemistry and him. I have never had such a rude instructor in all of my life. Not at all helpful and terribly confusing.DO NOT GET HIM!!!!
Dr. Taylor uses powerpoint for lectures which really didn't help me at all. I asked a question the first day of class and he made me feel like an idiot. I would not recommend him. I took Dr. Rillings for 102 and he was much more helpful.
Absolutely terrible teaching style. Makes so many mistakes and just confuses you the more he talks. He uses only powerpoints to teach. They make more sense before he explains them. Avoid this man
worst professor i've ever had, at clemson and elsewhere. he talks with his eyes closed, in a monotonous voice the entire time. he basically just rambles off information from powerpoints, occasionally scribbles all over the board but NEVER explains anything he says. quizzes all the time usually after he confuses everything you thought you knew
Dr. Taylor was awesome. I sat in the front few rows and had a much better experience than people who sit in the back. Students from other class would actually ask me for copies of his powerpoint they were so helpful. Lots of quizzes, still a hard class.
he lectures directly from his slides so he doesnt really teach too much outside of info you have, can confuse himself but is very willing to help, quizzes all the time in class but it helps you understand what you need to learn and he curves them a lot, overall not bad but Pressprich is better
Dr. Taylor wasn't too bad. His slides and clicker questions were somewhat helpful. But he can't teach without his slides. Once the overhead shut off and he stood there for 15 minutes scratching his head. I dozed off in his class a couple of times too. But he's helpful if you talk to him after class.
Dr. Taylor wants his class to do well. He does example problems on the board which makes the calculation problems much easier. His PowerPoints are all online which makes studying a breeze. He stays in contact with the class and is good about keeping BB current. Don't interrupt his class; If you have a question, ask later and he'll gladly answer it.
Yeah hes cocky but hes a good teacher. Most of the quizzes are partner. The key is going to si no matter what professor you have. This is a study class.
Dr. Taylor was monotonous, but he did teach. His powerpoints were exactly what was on the exam and made it so I never had to use my book. Good teacher overall. Gives group quizes which really boost your grade if you are doing bad. He is a little dry with his humor. Overall, I would take him again.
If you can learn off of powerpoints easily, the class is perfect for you. masteringchemistry along with lectures prepare you for the tests a good bit, but they are by no means easy. hes a nice guy and I would take a class from him again.
Dr. Taylor is really cool, he's pretty funny and teaches you everything you need to know. He teaches using powerpoint, and he puts the powerpoints online so you can print them out. That way you can listen in class without having to take notes. He really prepares you for the exams and if you study you will ace the pop group quizes he gives you.
Dr. Taylor is alright but he does NOT prepare you for the exams as well as he should. The quizzes and iclicker questions will help you out way better than the power points he rambles on about. My suggestion would be to get a tutor!
Dr. Taylor is an average teacher. He's not the best at preparing you for exams, and he has the impression that all his students know how to do the calculations beforehand, so he doesn't teach them. His quizzes hurt more than they helped. I would suggest taking a different teacher for Chem 102. However, he is helpful if you go see him one-on-one.
Taylor is a good teacher. I had him for both 101 and 102 and made an A in both classes. If you pay attention in class and do the work you will definitely be prepared for the exams. His quizzes can be hard, but if you study before you go to class you'll do fine. He puts his notes online so you can just listen to him in class. Overall a good teacher.
He's a good teacher, so if you go to class and study the book and notes he will have you prepared for the exams. He is a jerk; however, so if you're sensitive you might want to find another professor.
Hes an okay teacher, but not very helpful. Hes class really suck and beware of pop quizzes
Good professor, helpful when you go looking for help. He is not incredibly difficult, but he does give frequent pop quizzes that are a little tricky. Just make sure you understand what's going on when he teaches and you will be okay.
Dr. Taylor is a great lecture teacher. His teaching style is engaging and energetic. He is great at putting things in simple terms, and I had no problem with this class. Best of all, the homework is really easy and the pop quizes are not bad at all if you pay attention to what he's talking about.
Professor Taylor can be very confusing at times when he explains problems on the board about 90% of the time he doesnt even get the right answer.. and it leaves us all confused.. his pop quizzes are the worst and are NOTHING like the exams, the exams arnt to bad SI was SOO helpful i highly recommend that!
Dr. Taylor is a very intelligent professor, but he doesn't know how to explain things very well. He can come off as a smart-off sometimes, and he's not the nicest person in the world. The SI sessions do help, and the exams can be challenging.
Very hard. moves too fast in class. u have to be a fast learner to be caught up with him.
I had Dr. Taylor for 101 and 102. He was pretty good for both, but definitely more entertaining in 102. Most of his lectures are full of energy - especially when he can tie the material to beer. Put in some study time and you'll do fine.
Find another professor if you can. I came to class everyday and still found the lectures incomprehensible. He posts powerpoints online with blank spaces so they are useless for studying. Gives difficult pop quizzes out of the blue on new material. He acted condescending toward me when I asked questions and during office hours. Stay far away.
Just study the powerpoint slides and assess yourself with the practice exams and the class is a piece of cake. Didn't even have to open the book.
Talks with his eyes closed which is kindof weird. Decent guy overall. Watch out for pop quizes. Lectures are pretty simple. Just supplement the class with reading the book and you should be good to go. He's not the nicest guy but will still help you if you need it.
Ok, I may be a little biased since he reminds me of my favorite uncle, but I think he is a great professor. He understands chemistry really well and what you need to know for the tests. The book was pretty much useless to me because he gives you everything you need to know in his notes. Fo sho take him if you can.
Teacher knows what he is talking about. Explains everything in class and the best thing is he makes notes for you to print out so you don't have to kill yourself speed writing in class. Overall a good teacher.
He was a great teacher. I thoroughly understood and enjoyed class.
I had Dr. Taylor for both Chem 101 and 102. I got A's both times. He's actually a really good teacher. We didn't really get along but it was more of a personality thing. I'd certainly take his class again.
Dr. Taylor is a great professor. He gives you the notes online and weekly group quizzes. He takes attendance with Iclicker. It is a difficult class, but he is very good at explaining everything and I feel like I understood everything. Study ALOT!
Dr. Taylor knows his Chemistry and can be very intimidating but he is willing to help you if you meet with him outside of class. I did not use the textbook because I had his lecture notes from blackboard which are very thorough. Be prepared for quizzes almost every class. Study his notes and work practice problems and exams and you'll do fine.
He is pretty intimidating, but towards the end of the course he wants everyone to be successful and he loves chemistry. However, he did not seem patient with people who did not understand the concepts. It took me awhile to get used to the class, so I struggled. He loves to challenge his students, so you have to be willing to work very hard.
Intimidating at first. Keeping up with the readings was a must. Found the class to be grueling. The tests were hard, but the homework, participation, lab and quizzes can boost grades immensely. He did know his chemistry and was enthusiastic when it came to lectures. Knew people that thrived in his class, unfortunately, I was not one.
Take Taylor over anyone else who teaches chemistry here. I have taken all the chem 101 & 102 professors, and he is the best one. He writes the exams and gives out notes. He's really sarcastic, but approachable, and he's very helpful if you make a good impression. He's difficult, but if you keep up with the course, you'll do fine
Dr. Taylor is the man. He is super nice and the best chem teacher at Clemson.
Pretty good teacher, large auditorium class, so i personally had trouble focusing, but it was not his fault. Fairly difficult, and i missed ALOT of classes, so i fell behind. If you make it to class and participate, you can definitely make an A
He is an ok teacher. I had him for 101 and 102.He has really hard quizzes after each lesson. Goes through the material fast. It was somewhat easy for me because I took AP in high school but someone without that prior knowledge probably would be lost in his class. Has the tendency to focus on the wrong things and teaches material in a difficult way.
I took chemistry in high school and found it difficult. I took chemistry with Taylor and thought why didn't my high school teacher teach the subject like this. If she had I would not have struggled as much. He is extremely clear and makes the material easy to understand. He gives partner quizzes and attendance is checked via iClicker. He is awesome
Dr. Taylor is a great chem teacher. He explains things thoroughly and he gives a lot of extra grades not just the exams. Almost all of his quizzes are group and he gives participation points by using the iClicker. I would definitely recommend Dr. Taylor for Chemistry. I had him for 101 and 102! Great teacher!
Great teacher. The tests are all standardized, but he helps write some of the questions so you are mostly prepared for them. His quizzes are annoying and occasionally difficult, but he lets you work in groups. Show up to class so that you don't miss any notes.
Dr. Taylor is a boss he is the director of the general chemistry courses and he writes the exams. He prepares you directly for them, you pretty much can guess what topics will be on the exams. I made 100's on all the exams. Just put forth an effort and you wil surely succeed.
Great guy overall. He teaches through powerpoints which gets boring quick but compared to other chemistry teachers, he's one of the top. He allows for group quizzes and partner work which is great. All you have to worry about are the exams. Just study and work hard for those and an A will come.
Hands down the worst professor i have ever encountered. I have never had a problem with chemistry before (I have taken much higher levels but they did not transfer) and i had to drop this class. I would recommend getting any other professor if at all possible
Smart teacher. Gives a lot of extra help and the SI sessions are great! he gives group quizzes. Only problem is that the homework doesnt always have to do with what you learned in class
Decent teacher. Sometimes he can be a bit confusing. Class is very important and you have to pay attention. Group quizzes aren't hard and hw isn't too bad. Tests are difficult
Dr. Taylor is one of the best chemistry professors at Clemson. He is the department head so he usually makes most of the test questions. All of his notes are types online and you just have to fill in some blanks in class so you can follow along. Chemistry is a hard subject, but Dr. Taylor's students generally do better in the subject as a whole.
Its a great class! Chemistry sucks in general but I took him for both 101 and 102 and he is really good. Use the online notes to keep up with class, he moves to fast to try take your own notes
Dennis Taylor is the way to go! Very clear and he knows his stuff. Failure to succeed in this course with Dr. Taylor is no one's fault but your own.
Terrible class. You have to go if you want to get a good grade because the majority of his final average is based on class activities. He is slightly rude to students. Final exam is HARD!
Not an easy course, not an easy professor. He's not a bad professor per se, he just has an irritating manner of speaking, condescending and/or rude. He prepares you well for the tests, just don't expect it to be a walk in the park.
Dr. Taylor is a very boring man. He teaches straight off powerpoints and always takes attendance. The only bonus to his class is that you can work together on most of the quizzes, but there are quizzes on a pretty much weekly basis. He isn't the worst guy you could get but he definitely is not the best either. There is little to no extra credit.
Do not take Dr. Taylor unless you have extensive prior knowledge to general chem, he moves way too fast to catch up if not. Group quizzes are a plus but they are incredibly difficult and often cover material that he has not fully explained in class. I would recommend a different professor for an intro to chem class.
He is a great professor. His lectures aren't boring, in fact, he manages to keep things very interesting during class. He does require you to be in class for an in-class participation grade, but the iClicker questions that he uses really do help in learning the material, especially after the tests, when he will explain hard question
Not an easy class if you don't work every day. I really liked his lectures. I had no prior chemistry knowledge but got A's when I earned them. His quizzes and class are super hard, but it makes the exams seem easier. I recommend him.
He talks really fast. He keeps his eyes closed most of the time so it's really hard to focus on him. He gives pop quizzes, and the material is hard. I struggled while friends with other professors did great!
Dr. Taylor's quizzes and classwork are pretty challenging but it makes the test 10 times easier. Lectures are long and can be boring but paying attention is key. He tells you everything you need to know and even more. Can't ask questions during class but you can ask a quick one after class.
Dr. Taylor is a great teacher. Chemistry is a tough course, but he will prepare you for the test. If you don't do well in his class it is because you aren't studying enough, because he supplies you with all of the information that you need to know.
I have mixed feelings on Dr. Taylor. Overall, I would say that he is a capable professor. Chemistry of itself is a difficult subject, at least for me. If you apply yourself and study hard you'll be fine. If you don't, you're gonna have a bad time. Taylor can be sarcastic and a bit brash, but as long as you don't take it personally you'll be fine.
This man knows his stuff! If you want a chemistry professor that knows that he is talking about and knows how to explain it well, take chem with Dennis Taylor. Study Study Study.
Decent professor. Lots of very hard quizzes but they prepare you for exams and don't count much and most are group quizzes. Very in depth notes posted on BB but you have to go to class to fill them in (and to get participation points). Doesn't explain things as thorough as I need but SI filled the gap. Compared to others he's the best at Chem prof
Personally I loved Dr Taylor so much that I took him for both chem 1 and chem 2. He really prepared me for the exams. He gives group quizzes that are really hard and he grades them harshly, but they prepare you so much for the exams which is what matters. He is very blunt which some didn't like but I found him to be hilarious. Very knowledgeable!
I had to drop this class. Long lectures. Sometimes has an attitude if you ask questions. Test go over "working knowledge" meaning he's going to try to trip you up. If you take this class expect to go to all the SI sessions and read the book. He doing not give you all the info in his lectures. He does not seem to like or care about chemistry.
Very good overall professor. Very easy to follow during lectures and will offer extra credit. Will move quickly and occasionally be a bit sassy, but if you complete the homework and attend lecture, and A is not out of reach. Would highly recommend.
Dr. Taylor is one of the best chemistry teachers! he gives pop quizzes but they are group and really hard but if pay attention in class then you will do fine. He prepares you really well for the exams and gives get extra problems if you need more. He hates stupid questions, so i would ask someone else the question first. Overall he's a great person
He was a very good professor. He was very clear on the material and taught it well. He gave plenty opportunities to do well in his class, with participation grades and homework grades that were fairly easy and really helped me understand the material better. If you have the option to take him, I would suggest doing so.
Pretty clear teacher. The notes are really good but you have to be prepared to fill them out because he posts them but leaves "fill in the blank" stuff to make sure you pay attention and come to class. The pop quizzes can be challenging if you're not constantly reviewing. Makes you put in the work to get a good grade, but prepares for the tests.
During the time I had Dr. Taylor I was not the biggest fan. However after taking several chemistry classes, Taylor is one of the best professors I've had. He explains the concepts and its a luxury to have access to the powerpoints to refer back to. The tests are hard but they're the same for every professor, so there is no avoiding that.
Taylor was a great professor. I didn't do great in his class, but he teaches the material well and he is definitely there for you. He also gives you many useful resources. My issue was time management, so just work hard and do practice problems as you go rather than the night before the test and you'll be fine. FYI: he is pretty sarcastic at times
He is a good professor. He is straight forward and will help you if you need it. He has a sarcastic like humor which can be entertaining. He gives pop quizzes but they usually are group quizzes, though hard. For the most part he will tell you when the quizzes will be. He has great powerpoints that he posts online
Many people find Dr. Taylor to be one of the best Chemistry professors at Clemson University. Because he is so intelligent, I found it difficult to understand what he was teaching most of the time; he flew through the power points. Luckily there is a book and he posts the powerpoints to blackboard.
One of the better Chemistry teachers I've had. Taylor's lectures are as solid as his sweater vest game. They can drag out a bit, but he explains things well if you pay attention. I felt adequately prepared for the exams, and if you the homework and show up to class and you should be just fine.
I loved Dr. Taylor! He is intelligent, funny, and teaches the material well. Gives points based on participation (show up and you get full points) which literally saved my grade. I took CH 1010 and CH 1020 with him. Got a B both times and, y'all, I SUCK at Chemistry. Freshman chem is going to be hard at Clem no matter what. I highly recommend him.
He's a good teacher--he basically goes through the power points, and has print off powerpoint where you fill in the blank. He's a nice man. You have group quizzes, which are great, but they're usually a little long. Also there were a few individual quizzes. He'll let you know when you all will have quizzes, but they're definitely once a week!
My favorite professor at Clemson! Gen chem at Clemson is difficult & I was at the point of near failing both semesters but made a B each time because of him. His fill-in-the-blank lecture notes are great so be sure to print before each class. Only 1 indiv. quiz each semester, the rest were group. He's hilarious and so helpful in office hours.
Has a rough personality but doesn't want you to fail. The best you could get out of all the other professors. (Group) Quizzes every week or so. He'll answer your question but is sometimes a jerk about it. But he's efficient. Do the objective sheets before the test and go to SI. Final exam is standardized but study the ACS booklet and you're good.
Chemistry is tough no matter who you take but Dr. Taylor explains the material well in his lectures and gives you opportunities to help improve your grade outside of tests with in class quizzes (many are group quizzes). He's also the one that makes the tests so he prepares you for those better than other professors, still expect to study A LOT!
Chem 1020 is hard, but Taylor is the best professor for chemistry. He gives you all the material you need to know in class and the HW helps with practice problems. He gives weekly quizzes that are tougher than the actually exams, but they are group quizzes. Definitely recommend
He is a great teacher, really knows what he is talking about and can explain it really well. He gives a lot of quizzes, but almost all are group quizzes. Definitely the best chem teacher on campus. Highly recommend!!
His quizzes are hard and you have to print out the notes or you will not be able to write anything because he goes too fast. He is also very sarcastic and intimidating.
He is a very smart teacher but isn't very good at making it understandable for people who don't have much knowledge in chemistry which is common since its intro to chemistry. Most quizzes are group quizzes and the final can replace your worst test grade so thats helpful.
This chemistry class is not going to be easy but Taylor is the prof to get. The weekly GROUP quizzes keep you updated on all of the exams so its easier to stay on track. Though he goes fast through the powerpoints he does but atleast he covers all the material. Keep in mind PAL tutoring is offered for the course. Overall he is the best one here.
Dr. Taylor knows what he talking about and teaches the information pretty well. Has regular quizzes and iClicker questions which help solidify the information for the exams. Can at times be somewhat condescending but overall an effective teacher.
Dr. Taylor is a great professor--most of his quizzes are group quizzes, he posts all PowerPoints (with blanks) online, and several pages of practice questions online. If you do all the homework, answer in class iClicker questions, and attend PAL sessions when you need help, you should do fine.
Chemistry is going to suck and be really really really hard, but, Professor Taylor made it a little better. He and Houjere are really the only two chem professors I would recommend. I say take Taylor though because he's the department head so he writes the chem exams, gives hw maybe twice a week, GROUP QUIZZES, and Houjeree only has 8ams. GO TO PAL
Dr. Taylor is the best chemistry professor. He prepares you well for all of the exams. He gives weekly quizzes, but they are usually group quizzes. Study hard and this class won't be too hard.
Definitely recommend Taylor for gen chem 1 and 2! All I did was his homework, extra problems after lecture, and went to PAL and did well. Not a super easy class, but if you work for it, it's definitely doable
Dr. Taylor was a great chemistry professor and truly wanted his students to succeed. His lectures are awesome and he makes the funniest jokes. Although the test is departmental and pretty difficult, Dr. Taylor does everything he can to give you everything you need to do well.
I loved Dr. Taylor. The class was very difficult, but he made it understandable as much as he could!
Dr. Taylor was very difficult and did not cooperate well in office hours. He was not very understanding nor helpful when I needed extra help. One to two quizzes per week. Only thing good about this class is that some quizzes were group.
He's a great professor, but it is evident that he doesn't care about you as a student. Doesn't respond to emails.
Dr. Taylor is a great professor. I had him for Chem 1 and am taking him again for Chem 2. All but two of my quizzes were group which helps to make sure you know the material well enough for the exams. The exams are tough but he posts the exam from the previous year with the answers so that you can practice.
This man... Let me start out by saying he is a good professor in that he teaches you the material, however he is the most unapproachable and stale man that I have ever met. He doesn't care about his students, doesn't respond to emails, and gives pop quizzes the day before holidays in hopes that people don't come to class and fail. This man is rude.
Dennis Taylor is a solid professor, his lectures definitely help me understand the material. He has lots of in class quizzes, which are usually group quizzes, that really help me learn the concepts. The homework is also very helpful. If you want to minimize reading outside of class, Dennis is a good choice.
Where do I even begin. He knows his stuff but lectures the way he learned, gives out SO many quizzes it is almost as if he wants you to struggle and fail. Impossible to get in contact with, if you approach him make sure you have tough skin because he is so rude. The amount of homework is ridiculous as well. Take a different prof if you want to pass
I really liked Taylor's lecture style. He has fill in the blank notes that he posts online and has us fill them out in class. It is really important to go to class, but as long as you work hard and review often, the class isn't bad. He also gives a lot of really hard quizzes, but it only counts for 8% of your grade, so it's not a big deal.
He is clearly a very intelligent man, just not the kindest. Either a quiz or class participation sheet every class. He pretty much reads off of lecture slides which do not prepare you for the test whatsoever. Prepare yourself for belittling if you ask him a question. Comparatively, he is probably the best Gen Chem professor, but still not great.
This CLASS is hard, this PROFESSOR is not. He prepares you but you need to put in so much work. I studied 20 hours one weekend, but he has last minute office hours on test mornings (great for procrastinators). His group quizzes help you learn- sit next to someone who looks smart and find a new seat if they aren't. I'd take him again.
Dr. Taylor is a pretty good professor. He definitely knows his chemistry and tries to give good examples. He can be a little stand-offish in class but is nice during office hours. Some lectures are boring but he can be funny in class. Studying is key and the online homework is nothing like the tests so I wouldn't focus too much on it.
I had him both CH1010 and CH1020 and he definitely knows the material well. He also answers questions pretty well. You can print out the notes from online. He also grades on participation with iclickers and attendance. I highly recommend doing the online homework when he tells you to, It helps with the quizzes and tests A LOT, don't procrastinate
Not helpful
He was by far my favorite professor of the semester. He clearly communicates the material, expanding on the information on the powerpoints (which he also provides to the class in a fill-in-the-blank style notes). He is such a fun teacher and always has the class's attention. Love the group quizzes. Cannot emphasize enough how amazing this guy is!
Dr. Taylor is probably the best professor for chemistry at Clemson. Compared to what youll hear about other professors hes a gem. He teaches the material well, you just need to study. Use the print out lecture notes and it makes taking notes very easy. Ive decided to take him again for CH 1020. Do the homework, study, and show up to class.
Dr. Taylor is really knowledgeable about what he teaches and if you ask for help, he can give you a really good answer to help you understand. Chem is just a tougher subject but Taylor gives you the tools necessary to do well in the class. He gives weekly quizzes on the material that can be challenging if you don't do the online homework.
Dr. Taylor wants you to succeed and gives group quizzes in class that prepare you well for the exam questions. Everything on the exams come from lectures and iClicker 2 questions which are graded as class participation. He's awkward but easy to talk to, & will try to get to know you if you talk to him. Just don't be stupid, and he's a great prof.
Dr. Taylor is a great professor! The tests are made by the Chem Department but he covers the test well. He gives a lot of quizzes, but 10/12 are group. Great teacher!
A great chem professor! Took him for chem 1020 and wish I had him for 1010! 1020 is a hard class but he explains things very well. He expects a lot from his students, and you have to put in effort, but he cares and wants you to succeed. Would highly recommend!
He is an alright professor has alright lectures but confuses himself a lot. He often gives pointless quizzes that are extremely hard. I got A's on all my tests including the final but often got C's on the quizzes because they were hard and stuff not taught
Give lots of good practice for exams and quizzes. If you do the extra assignments quizzes are easy, most of them are group too. He really tries to make the lectures interesting and helps break down the information. I'm taking again for CH 1020!
This is the first C I have ever received and I can honestly say I love this guy. Dr Taylor is hilarious and I wish I needed Chem 1020 for my major because I would absolutely take him again. With that being said, the system he uses for assigning and grading homework is kind of a beat down as youll need to sit down before each session and do It.
Dr. Taylor is a great professor. He provides powerpoint notes, so you just have to print them or follow along. He often gives out quizzes, but they're almost all group quizzes. He provides a lot of practice, which is really helpful, and can help during his accessible office hours. He wants students to pass, but makes you work for it. Solid teacher.
Dr. Taylor is an AMAZING chemistry professor! He has a great personality & I truly enjoyed his class. Make sure to print out the guided notes at the beginning of each unit - they will help you understand the material much more quickly. He has group quizzes which are much more difficult than the tests, but you learn the material working with others.
Dr. Taylor is a very good Chem 1 professor. His lectures are very informative and prepare you well for the homework assignments, quizzes, and tests. He does give quizzes about once a week, but they are normally group quizzes. Study the given exam practice questions and old exams and you should do fine!
Dr. Taylor is a very good teacher for chemistry. He can come off as rude sometimes, however he cares about what he is teaching. Attendance is not mandatory but it helps a lot. He posts practice problems after every chapter to help study for the tests. Most quizzes are group but they are usually harder than the test which prepares you well.
This class was really tough for me. Taylor moves super fast and isn't the best at explaining everything. Gives lots of quizzes but they're all group quizzes
Dr. Taylor is a mediocre professor. He skips through lecture slides pretty quickly, so I'd recommend printing the slides. His lectures are average. He does give group quizzes, but without too much time. You definitely have to prepare and split the work, so sit by people you trust! Favorite thing was his organized Canvas and practice materials.
Dr. Taylor is a great choice for a chemistry professor. He is clear, organized, and ensures that students are understanding the materials. His class is by no means an easy A, but he prepares you well for the exams with his weekly quizzes which are most often group quizzes. Highly recommend!!!
Dennis Taylor is the BEST chemistry professor at Clemson university. I went from making C's and D's on chemistry 1 exams to high B's and high A's on chemistry 2 exams. He does not allow computers or phones in his class but it honestly makes it way easier to pay attention. Would take him for every single chemistry class if I could.
Professor Taylor is a great professor. He is very clear with the materials of Chemistry. He gives you tons of practice and has videos on explaining difficult problems. You will have tons of practice in class with iclicker. Go to class because attendance is a grade. I highly recommend him because he knows Chemistry.
Gen chem is a necessary evil of being in college. Dr. Taylor understands this, and does his best to make it bearable. He is pretty informal and lets you be as engaged as you want to be. My recommendation? Sit in the front, take notes, do the extra credit and you will be just fine. You really can't do much better in Clemson's chemistry department.
Dr. Taylor is a great professor. He gives you all the resources to succeed (followup problems after every lecture, practice problems during class and more). He is clear about what he expects from his students. He gives at least 10 quizzes, but only like 2 are individual. The quizzes can be hard , so study for them. He had office hours 2x a week.
He is strict and doesn't tolerate stupid questions but he will give you the rundown of the course and if you listen and write your notes you'll do well. CH1020 is really hard, you'll have to put A LOT of time and effort into this class. iClicker is used, book is not, lots of in class quizzes, smartwork5 for homework.
Dr. Taylor does not like to joke around and hates when students ask dumb questions. He was not my favorite, but he does provide you with a lot of information that is necessary to do well on the exams. He makes you work for your grade and stresses how important reviewing your notes and completing his practice problems are.
Dr. Taylor is ok at conveying the general message, but he often struggles to get to the point and confuses himself when completing practice problems. Furthermore, his lectures are unimaginably boring. He would often be snarky towards students who had questions and frequently belittled students for not understanding the material immediately.
*class was taken online during COVID* Dr. Taylor is a great professor. Hes pretty strict and tough when it comes to grading but hes a chill dude. Youll definitely have to be on top of your work and studies in this class if you want to pass. Tests and quizzes in chemistry are difficult at Clemson but Dr. Taylor prepares you very well!!
Content delivery is awful. His test are overly difficult given the circumstances of the pandemic. His grading scale is absolutely horrific (45% for regular exams and nothing else amounts to that percentage so if you fail one exam you're screwed). And as if the class itself wasn't bad enough, Dr. Taylor adds to it by being the rudest person ever.
I did fairly well in the course just because I had taken APChem in high school, but watching this dude teach this course made me sick considering it seemed like he did not care for his job and/or students at all. Therefore all I will say is: hated this class, hated this professor. Do not take unless you have to and try to get a different professor.
Chem is hard no matter what teacher you take, but Dr. Taylor is a good choice if you are willing to put in the work. Watch the videos and take notes, and pay attention in class. There is a quiz pretty much every week but they are really useful. By the time the exams came around I already knew all the content! I'm taking him again next semester.
Hated this class. Hated this professor.
Dr. Taylor was snarky towards students who asked questions & often belittled them. There is video footage of him belittling other student for asking a question & cussing saying he shouldve watched the videos. His grading scale is unfair. He is no help, especially during hard times like now. I would not recommend this class to anyone.
Dr. Taylor was a really solid Chem teacher. I was not great in chem in high school and he really helped me understand it this time around. This class is definitely doable and you could definitely get an A in it. He gave really helpful quizzes and homework. I recommend Taylor!
Hes not a bad teacher although he can be rude at times. He makes chemistry easy to understand sometimes but if you dont keep up it can be hard to get back on track.
Dr. Taylor is probably one of the best teachers in the chem department at Clemson. That being said, his attitude can be a bit much. I really did learn a lot from him and started doing significantly better on exams compared to the previous semester. He will always accurately answer questions, but sometimes will have snarky remarks to go with them.
He would often have examples in the lectures that would have incorrect information or just completely wrong answers, so the class would often get confused. Lectures are super long and all over the place but reading the textbook and doing the extra practice problems will help for sure.
He's ok! He just makes a lot of errors on PPTs and that confuses the students, but he is rly nice and is willing to meet with you and listen to your concerns! I was confused most of the class tho.
Treated the students that asked questions in lecture like they were stupid. Often gave quizzes on material that he had just finished teaching that same day. He definitely knows chemistry, but his expectations of students are very unrealistic. If you value your mental health dont take this class with him.
My mental health has gone down just because of this class.
The absolute worst class and professor ever. He is not helpful at all and the tests are so hard that it is impossible to get a good grade. Exams are worth so much that if you fail one, you have failed the class. He is rude and just goes entirely too fast through everything. I am having to take this class again and I will make sure it's not with him
He can be pretty sarcastic and mean and will answer your questions but it comes with a snarky comment. He goes through the notes very quickly so I would suggest taking the notes before class and printing them out so you can annotate because that really helps. Be prepared to study for up to 5 days before the exam to get a good grade.
He is a great professor! I definitely recommend it. He can be snarky at times but he is so helpful and will learn your name if you get to know him. His in-class participation counts are done with iClicker questions, and they're really helpful to help you study for your test. He does do quizzes every other lecture though. But I would take him again!
Very boring, just reads off the PowerPoint and is not very helpful. Quizzes and tests are nothing like the questions we go over in class, and he also does not care about the students at all it feels like. If you are willing to teach yourself everything, you can still succeed in the class. He does offer minimal extra credit in the homework.
His extra credit for SmartWork helps, and the lecture is fast and straightforward about everything. Whatever is on the slides and SmartWork is what you need to know. Provided great exam resources too. Weekly lockdown quizzes are luckily only 5% of the grade. For a subject/class this difficult, he's not a bad choice, I know I'll be taking him again.
Worst professor I have ever had. Condescending to students and isn't available outside of class or office hours. What he taught did not align with the exam questions. I believe he tried teaching at a level that made learning the basics too difficult to be able to move onto harder topics. Is the reason I am changing my major.
Reads straight off the powerpoint so take notes before class and add/annotate during lecture. He includes iclicker questions which help but overall the test/quiz questions are much different and more difficult that what he prepares you for in class. Gen chem is bad as is but I think Dr. Taylor makes it more bearable than other teachers I've heard
He understands the material, but seems to not care about his students. He is very condescending and when you ask him questions he seems annoyed. You will do good if you show up to class and take all the notes.
Most people hate him, but is definitely the best CH1010 professor. Is the course coordinator so he makes the test, and posts practice tests exactly like the test. PowerPoints are important for quizzes which is the hardest part of the class. Lectures are boring and he's a bit condescending.
Genuinely one of the worst professors Ive taken. His grading scale is so harsh. If you fail one test youre screwed. Not only this, but he doesnt spend nearly enough time on the the material thats actually on the tests. He loves to go off on confusing tangents that dont actually help you learn the material. Dont take him unless you have to.
Scary teacher, hard quizzes, have to do a lot of outside individual studying. Tests are easier than class material so he sets you up well, but if you do not like strict teachers, do not take.
He is a hard professor to like
Only take if you are a good at self teaching yourself material. He just reads off the slides (way too fast) and has occasional poll questions. He is rude and condescending and basically just tells you to go to PAL if u don't understand something. Found myself just reteaching myself all the material for every exam. Do not recommend him.
One of the best profs in the Chem department for sure. Super organized and gives students plenty of practice problems to help them review and learn the material. I also have him as my academic adviser, and he's super great to work w. can be a little intimidating but overall, gives good lectures and prepares you well for exams. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!!
Dr. Taylor spends 75 minutes reading slides that often include mistakes and belittles those who ask simple questions about the material. Be prepared for boring lectures and being left alone to learn most material. Expect no grace or forgiveness from him on any assignments no matter the situation. Least understanding human I have ever encountered.
doesnt answer questions he deems are stupid questions. had him online and he was impossible to learn from sucked at lecturing didn't answer questions till the end of class and once cussed out a student in front of everyone on a recorded zoom for asking a question.
Professor Taylor has been the worst professor I've ever had. He will not answer questions that he thinks are "stupid" and he yelled at someone on zoom for having COVID and missing class. He is not a good teacher, and I would recommend taking anyone but professor Taylor.
His lectures are commonly confusing and the material is relatively difficult. The classroom never felt like a comfortable space for questions.
Chemistry is hard, no way around it and you have to take it. Dr. Taylor is definitely lecture heavy, but also provides good explanations during class and goes over commonly missed questions on quizzes. Nobody likes chemistry, but I took his class for 1010 and 1020 and I definitely prefer him over other professors.
Dr. Taylor is a very clear teacher and his teaching method is great. I understand material most of the time. Usually at least one quiz a week but if you prepare throughout the semester it's doable. One thing is he honestly is not very nice to students. He makes us feel stupid sometimes so it's hard to ask for help without the fear of being judged.
I don't think he was a good professor. The class is totally doable and you can get a good grade but just know you will be working harder than other students in Gen Chem. Make sure you go to class he has a lot of in class activities and participation points everyday and those can be worth a lot of points.
awful human. rude to students. told a colorblind student to "deal with it". made an analogy about molesting children.
Dr. Taylor is one of the worst professors I have ever taken a class with. He is not approachable. He is very condescending and rude to students, often making us feel dumb for daring to ask him a question. He told my colorblind roommate that she would just have to deal with it during a unit on the color spectrum. AVOID DENNIS TAYLOR AT ALL COSTS!
Very difficult professor but good when you get the hang of him. STUDY way before exam dates.
DO NOT TAKE DR TAYLOR. I passed his class by less than a point. He teaches gen chem like you're chem majors. Goes so deep in detail for no reason. He makes his own exams, so your exams are WAY harder than the other chem 1020 students. You have 2 quizzes a week and everyone does bad on them. No makeup quizzes or class activities, so a 0 if youre out
I hated him. He lectured every single class and rambled. Even topics that should be simple were so difficult to comprehend. He was not kind or approachable and is very harsh, especially in answering questions. I would recommend a different professor.
Dr. Taylor very obviously loves what he teaches. But because of this, he can move very fast and it can be overwhelming. He gives extra credit opportunities and the homework is for completion, but most of your grade comes from exams which can be difficult.
He is quick with come backs and makes class interesting. Smaller class sizes with a professor who is willing to help during office-hour or after class.
I think the harsh reviews are just from people that aren't that good at chemistry. Taylor knows what he's talking about and covers all the material that is needed on the exam. If you put in the time for the class a B or A is achievable.
Dr. Taylor is a tough professor but if you follow what he says you are guaranteed an A in his class. He does care about his students but he can be tough (He swore and threw a calculator when I took his class). Just do the homeworks, practice exams and print/annotate the slides he posts before class and you'll get an A.
Great guy. Cares about his students. Exams are tough, but offers lots of practice that can help boost grade (hw, quizzes, participation.) Lectures can get boring due to content but he keeps them pretty engaging.
Dr. Taylor cares about his students but it is not an easy class
Of the chem professors at Clemson he is one of your best bets. Chem is hard but if you review the material before the quizzes you can do decent on them. Homework is harder than the tests but you get lots of attempts and extra credit. Tests are super difficult but final replaces the lowest one. If you show you care about doing well, he will help.
I had Taylor for CH1020 and he did not know how to explain anything. He would go through his slides and do practice problems but was terrible at explaining concepts. However, I used Witt Bauknight at BrainSTEM Tutoring and he made everything so much simpler. Because of his review sessions and private tutoring, I was able to get an A in the class!
Chemistry is one of those classes that is very difficult no matter what professor you have. Dr. Taylor has very detailed power points and is very accessible out of class. Use his resources and you will succeed! Witt Bauknight from BrainSTEM tutoring is very helpful and explains this class very clearly! I recommend using this resource!
this class isn't easy but he is a good professor. goes through examples in class that are really helpful. there are a good bit of homework and quizzes (open note) but they don't take long. also the assignments aren't a big part of the overall grade so if u do bad on some its okay. just make sure to go to class and pay attention!
The class itself is hard, but Dr. Taylor provides lots of good resources. There's lots of homework and quizzes, but I think they're good for making sure you keep up. He reads straight off slide shows with way too many slides, but he seemed very kind and accessible outside of the classroom. He was snarky, but overall a decent and caring person.
I took Dr. Taylor for Chem 1010 and 1020. His lectures are very slide heavy, but he makes a lot of effort to explain everything in great detail. After class I recommend relooking at the slides presentations and taking your own notes, which help for quizzes. If you attend PAL sessions and do the practice problems he posts on Canvas, you'll be fine.
Got a 99 in Chem 2 first semester of freshman year. Hes funny although lectures can be really boring since they're slide heavy. iClicker is used in class to answer questions, however theyre only graded on completion and he always put an option for if you dont know the lecture. Great guy overall and 100% recommend for chem 2.
Chem is just hard- accept it, but Dr Taylor provides detailed slides that are helpful when it comes to preparing and studying. He gives LOTS of quizzes and activities but its not that bad. He's not very approachable but he gets the job done and provides very detailed expectations for each unit and study materials for exams.
Dennis Taylor is one of the better chemistry teachers at Clemson for sure. He is not a bad teacher, chemistry is just not my thing. He is way too smart to be teaching freshmen chemistry. If you go to his office hours he is actually super nice and wants you to pass his class. Exams were pretty hard and rarely multiple choice. I would take him again.
Taylor is very knowledgable. His lectures are lengthy and you have to stay focused in order to learn, but he gives a lot of practice questions mixed in with the lectures. Attendance is graded through the practice questions by completion not accuracy. Quizzes were almost all online at home and open note. Can be intimidating to talk to.
So many practices questions to prepare for exams. I enjoyed the class. If you put in the effort, it's extremely easy to make an A
Absolutely love Dr Taylor. His lectures are very quick so it can be difficult to keep up in class, but he gives lots of practice questions, hw, and quizzes so the exams were pretty easy. Dr Taylor definitely cares about his students and the material he is teaching. Would def recommend.
It is easy to tell that Dr. Taylor is a very smart man. He goes quickly through lectures, but explains things well and gives LOTS of optional practice problems to help you learn. Definitely do these problems and the class will be a breeze. He is a pretty funny guy and I enjoyed having him as a prof. I think he is one of the best CH1010 profs here.
He is definitely aware and knowledgable on the topic. However, there were 3 tests and they counted as major parts of your grade. Lecture is understandable but fast, expect to have to go back over your notes and you need good quality notes. He is not very understanding of being sick and will not work with you to help you catch up. DON'T MISS CLASS!!
Dr. Taylor gives you all the info you need to do well on exams during lecture. However, you need a good background in CH 1010 because he assumes you know it well already. I noticed that when he answered questions in/after class he explains things in a bit of a condescending way. My classmates said similar things after going to office hours.
Lectures go extremely quickly, so be ready to review concepts on your own time. Professor is helpful and personable in office hours. The class before exams is always dedicated to exam prep questions using iClickr, but I feel like they always helped me to do well on exams. Constantly review your Chem 1 material, because it is on the final exam.
Professor Taylor is extremely knowledgable and a great professor. However, he does go at a very fast pace and doesn't always go over complex topics. If you struggle with Chemistry already, I would take a different professor.
Professor Taylor knows everything about chemistry, but sometimes fails to explain all concepts, leading to confusion. His lectures are also fast paced and slide heavy. If you do not have a strong base, I would take another professor. He is very caring and wants you to succeed and gives you a lot of assignments/quizzes to balance the grade.
This professor was unhelpful and dismissive. He didn't teach—just read off slides. I asked for help multiple times and was ignored, to "study harder." Despite going to PAL and hiring a tutor, I saw no improvement. When I approached him again, he called me lazy. One of the worst instructors—avoid his class.
Chem is not easy for me, and I did not put that much effort into this class. However, the professor was great. He got us the homework from Pearson for free. I understood things during lectures, but my exam grade doesn't reflect that. I had some family issues, and he was kind enough to send me resources so that it didn't affect me that much.
Has a lot of out-of-class work but they're only a few questions each so it's easy to get a high grade.
Good professor definitely cares for students. Moves through lectures and slides very quickly lots of review on your own time.
He is a sassy guy, CH is always gonna be hard but i enjoyed the class. Exams were not the easiest but I did fine. If you want a little bit of a charecter he is your guy.
Do not take him. He drones on and on in class with slides that are so monotonous and old. He is rude and has straight up told students that even if they email him "that doesn't mean he has to respond". I had to reteach myself everything outside of class because the pace was so fast. Worst class of my life, and he did nothing to make it better.
Dennis is a very chill and smart man, but the topic he teaches is very hard. You have to dedicate a lot of hours to his class, and most of your learning will be outside of class. The best advice is just lock in and study a lot.
